anyway , I think I've made this comic lighter towards the end of this comic (both on purpose with the backgrounds and story lol) but this ending I hope is a combination of bittersweet and hopeful. Y/n gets to have a new family and connection to humanity that I think would be beneficial. 

How they’d take finding out Y/n is a VAMPIRE is it’s own can of worms that you can decide for yourself how would go down. Best outcome is that Y/n continues to watch over the generations influenced by Vanessa and her family during their immortality. 

Gregory and Cassie still haven’t been introduced in the Naff’s Cryptid Sightings universe by the time I post this, so if/when they are their characterization most likely will be different. And ggy likely won’t be placed in the au. Which is completely understandable! Tho an alternative path following canon fnaf more with 3 star fam, ggy n such is a concept I LOVE in the Cryptid Sightings world! I’ll go into it more ltr

Greg and Cass already have cryptid parents but now they get Uncle Eclipse and Uncle/Aunt/Pibling/Auncle/Etc Y/n. And Y/n gets to have one more purpose in protecting these ppl they will grow to care a lot about that knew Vanessa when Y/n couldn’t connect with her. Lots of sharing stories abt Vanessa occurs.

I’ll joke abt this in the extras & memes part but I think It would be so funny if Y/n can one moment be depressed and then Eclipse mentions Cass & Greg and they’re like “RIGHT I NEED TO PLAN HOW IM GONNA SPOIL THEM FOR THEIR BIRTHDAY” or “I LOST TO GREGORY LAST TIME IT WON’T HAPPEN AGAIN” or “I NEED TO CHECK UP ON THEM AND MAKE SURE THEY’RE ACTUALLY RESTING AFTER THEY FOUGHT THAT CRYPTID”

Eclipse is simultaneously grateful they have a new source of motivation, they haven’t seen you like this in a while, and he doesn’t dislike Gregory or Cassie. BUT since Cassie and Gregory are still Cryptid Hunters, it isn’t IDEAL lmao

On to elaborating on the comic: I love 3 star fam (by extension cassie) and Vanessa had growth offscreen so now her dying wish to y/n is like:

Nessie: hey. Make sure my kids (that aren't kids anymore) don't die ok cool cool

Sure Greg and Cass have Freddy and Roxy but between:

Demonic cryptids that have no experience being a human NOR a cryptid hunter human at that

Friend that might just be there still since if these cryptids could have humanity there's a chance my friend sending me memes that are so in character with their personality is ALSO still human despite being vampire and maybe ness & them could reconcile and Greg and Cass could finally meet the only person ness would have considered family and-

Nessie never would have considered y/n still having their humanity if it weren't for Freddy and by extension Roxy 

And btw Ness would not have given her phone to y/n if she wasn't sure that y/n wouldn't hurt Greg and Cass.

She. Didn't expect y/n to go the extra mile and meet them in person. The phone would give y/n their contact information and all the photos of memories they missed out on

Y/n cries when they unlock ness's phone and Nessie still hadn't changed her password

The video she made that y/n sees at the end is when she was first entertaining the idea of y/n possibly still having their humanity, but still wasn’t sure. It was a video that she only ever planned on y/n seeing if she either died and/or she was sure y/n was still human in some regard. She wanted to leave y/n with something in that scenario.

Vanessa here meeting Vanessa in Cryptid Sightings and Lost episode canon would certainly be something. Vanessas from canon Cryptid Sightings would just. Not know how Vanessa got over it and neither does Ness here know

Also, there are some details for this canon divergence au that are completely settled to me and other details I don't have a solid idea for. Like, I'm not SET on how Nessie and Greg would meet, ness and Cass, if it would be at the same time, who would be doing the glitchtrapping.  Prob becuz some of those are still unclear in canon canon FNAF and others I'm just indecisive

Also the possession being done by the same cryptid wouldn’t be possible with Cryptid sighting’s universe rules so. I’m not gonna bother figuring out those details for this comic. 

But I do love the idea of Nessie growing closer to Greg and Cass and at least Ness and Greg sharing a bond over dealing with Glitchtrap

Speaking of glitchtrapped GGY in cryptid au-

The wizards FAVORITE now being in same universe as demonic cryptids that would absolutely want to slaughter Glitchtrap for possessing a KID? Making him kill multiple people, including a kid his age? Tasty. Scrumptious. I want to make a separate post just thinking Abt how canon crew for cryptid sightings might react to GGY, especially Cryptid Sun & Moon/Eclipse. I'll save most of that rambling for that potential post since there's so much angst potential. 

While im here, I���ll ask. Naff, how would Eclipse react to a child, possessed by a demonic cryptid, having killed other children? Or. Is that a spoiler since these characters could be introduced in a reunion work and whether Cassie gets possessed to mirror canon fnaf is still up in the air? 👀

@/puhpandas can be blamed for my brain rot of the GGY story and dr rabbit stuffs and the potential it could bring.

Tho I don't expect to see GGY in any continuations of cryptid sightings lol I don't know how that would work when cryptid sightings already has laid down rules for possession in that universe and Glitchtrap is already gone. I'll happily see what Gregory and Freddy are like when they (hopefully) appear in future continuations of cryptid sightings

But since this is canon divergence I can indulge in three star fam real quick

To follow canon canon FNAF (or at least the fanon built off of the scrapped security breach canon as well as what stayed in sb), Vanessa would be saved by Gregory and Freddy, I'm undecided if Cassie would join in sooner or later. Nessie would regardless have to stomach being around kids that remind her of her trauma since she can't just fully IGNORE them. Gregory would have no one since I love the angst of the theory he killed his loving family as GGY 

So. Nessie would probably know that and it would make the situation hard.

Vanessa would grow a bond with Gregory and Freddy at some point, Gregory has a head start  due to. Y'know. Glitchtrap. Hard to not have some sort of connection to the kid that went through what you did too.

Anyway, Vanessa here would be saved by Gregory and Freddy to match up with canon. Or at least, the fanon I subscribe to for security breach since canon was lack luster and scrapped all the good ideas for Vanessa last minute.

Nessie and Gregory would have the shared experience of dealing with Glitchtrap trauma and Cassie gets roped, just like canon, with the whole Mimic situation. Then Nessie has two kids that she can't fully ignore but also can't stomach COMPLETELY being there for. Fun.

But since I adore 3 star fam too much, Vanessa is able to grow attached to Gregory like a big sister eventually (i adore big sis nessie dkljssfkld look at @/boringa55binch 's stuff you'll get ITTT)

When I'd imagine Cassie would be introduced, I bet Nessie would have a harder time with her around since what we've seen of Cassie in canon is only of her getting fooled. I bet Nessie would have a harder time around her for that reason.

But it's not like she COULD leave them completely alone since she's the one with the most cryptid hunting experience. And if these kids are SO INSISTENT about getting into trouble, fine. She owes them after all

I've been undecided if Cassie would be apart of the gang when Nessie is saved so that's up in the air for what ppls like most

Time skip is about 20-30 years ltr I've determined so, Ness did die when she was relatively young. (The circumstances of how she died are a plot device yes i will admit shush it isn’t terribly important sorry jklfdsjksfd)

I'm not the greatest at drawing aged characters so there you have it, Cassie and Gregory are in their late twenties early thirties.

Nessie knows it is a gamble to ask Y/n this favor. But, she's a worried big sis, being around Roxy and Freddy I bet would have softened her heart to the general idea of cryptids not being bad, and y/n doesn't seem to be bad atm. It could be a ghost that'll haunt watch over them, or Nessie's best friend can continue to be long distance buds with Nessie's new family.

And if Y/n was truly gone and all that remained was the vampire tendencies, by this point she has trust Gregory, Cassie, Freddy, and Roxy can keep each other safe. If it was truly a mistake to give y/n her trust.

So, that's why y/n hypes themself up and visits the graveyard when Gregory is there. And it did take a lot out of them but y'know I like the idea of y/n getting close with the gang.

It does make the next cryptid reunion a little weird.

Y/n & Eclipse: YOU DIDN'T MENTION VANESSA WAS A PART OF THE CREW NOW??

Freddy & Roxy: YOU NEVER TOLD US ABOUT VANESSA

Like, imagine both describing Vanessa in previous reunions, and NOW they're finding out it was the same person.

Vampire reveal set aside for later, this is y/n's newest reason to LIVE (mentioned earlier im gonna indulge on details down here)

They can't die yet! They still have memes to send to these kids! Jokes to tell! Series to make them binge with Y/n over a call! This is the gosh darn happiest Eclipse has seen them in decades!!

Flipping between seeing Gregory and Cassie as their nephew and niece and competing with Freddy and Roxy over the title of parent. Regardless of age. (they joke but Y/n never actually competes for the title, they are much too anxious of doing something wrong. Plus, Roxy and Freddy would be pretty tough to beat)

I also think it would be hilarious if Y/n sent out Eclipse with a chancla when Gregory does a Human Hero Complex goof up that painfully reminds y/n of their Human Hero Complex goof ups. He isn't allowed to make the same mistakes without consequence. And y/n WILL stay back in the bushes with goggles to SEE IT HAPPEN. Eclipse ain't worried abt y/n's mental state when they're too invested with their Nephew and Niece.

Gregory: We are adults.

Y/n: Yeah but you're also stupid humans who don't know when to quit.

Eclipse does get a chuckle they're now complaining so much abt human's having these stupid hero/martyr complexes when they were a human not so long ago themself lol

Cryptid Sightings doesn't have Cassie or Gregory in their cast of characters yet so (i think I mentioned this earlier but still), this could age. As of writing this, no reunion fic has been published. Might make a note of that if I release this after the fact. But still. Indulge with me in the hyjinks. I haven’t even begun on Freddy being a dad to y/n and possible Roxy dynamic with y/n lolll.

This au of an au of an au still has lots of angst to be explored like. Oh yeah, Gregory was controlled by Glitchtrap too and has a fuck ton of ptsd SINCE HE WAS TWELVE

Fun discussion for later at thanksgiving over zoom. One that Greg is just like: Can we get back to video games pls. now.

The bombshell that will be Y/n revealed to be a Vampire is still up in the air like I said earlier. But, y'know, it might go better this time.

Y/n hopes for that. Hopes. Funny, you haven't smiled this much in a while.

Vanessa's death hurts. Both of them were too young for their fates. It hurt especially when they were saying goodbye for the very last time. Nessie's death was coming and Y/n knew that, but at the same time. Y/n can focus on caring about people Nessie cared about. People Nessie trusted them to care for.

I like the idea of Y/n continuing to watch over and keep in contact with the people Nessie has impacted in some way. Nessie to Gregory and Cassie to whoever they inspire and have become their successors. And they got so much more they are looking forward to now. Knowing humans and sticking around them even digitally has its risks but I think it could be pretty grounding. They have even more dates to look forward to aside from halloween. Which, will be fun to celebrate with Gregory and Cassie fam.

They can't wait to do some more living.

Secret Life Au!

Okay, so i had this idea about everyone in the batfam. I'm already writing a fic but still wanna talk about it bcuz im better with small hc than a whole ass ff.

So, nobody knows Bruce has children.

He is still a playboy, airhead, nepo baby billionare to all of Gotham, as well as their beloved prince. But he has never, ever, talked, showed, or hinted at having children. Literally nobody knows.

And then, when Damian is around 11, little details start to get out. His secretary reads things in his calendar (about buying tim a gift, about a certain fair in a school, about a ballet dance, about a medical appointment, etc). He bails someone out of the police station for something stupid (and is actually white serious about it, very unlike brucie wayne in front of the GCPS). He seems with people who ARENT young beutiful women in public, and people start to get curious. And there are conspiracys, there are rumors, photos, people talking, etc etc etc.

(I belived i had this idea of his secretary or lawyers seeing how he wants to fucking ADOPT Thimothy Drake after the -honestly suspicious- death of his father, one year after the death of his mother. And the kid, who has NEVER EVER seen with Bruce Wayne, is like yeah okay there is no problen, A ok. And everyone is super preocupated abt it and Bruce has to like,,,, talk abt it)

And when Bruce does talk about it is white a shock, bcuz apparently a child he adopted at 9-11, HIS FIRST SON????, is already 27. And the second one, who has some really weird documds laying around, is 22, and his little girl is 23, and the Drake Heir was adopted by him last year when he had 16, and he also has a bio son who is 11???? and suddeny Bruce is a family man, and when the people get a hold of the social medias of the batfam that are made public or smh, bruce looks SO different. That isn't the fucking man that takes one girl to his bed each night. That is a tired af dad trying to keep up Just Dance with half of his children.

That is an old af photo of him and Dick Grayson, of him and Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Cass Cain, Damian Wayne, etc, etc.

Also Tim, having a normal bussiness life, hiding his status as drake heir or relationship with bruce, having his co workers realize A or B, or his classmates.

Rise of Flynn Rider - THOUGHTS

THE PROMISED LONGER POST ON THE RISE OF FLYNN RIDER- spoiler warning!

Ok so first off, a very brief summary: the book centers on Eugene and Arnie (Lance), childhood best friends. The orphanage they've grown up in is financially struggling, under threat by a crooked tax collector, and they're both aging out of the system; the only clue Eugene has to his parents is a letter from the woman who left him there, which is signed with a ~mysterious symbol~. When a traveling circus run by the Baron (yes, that Baron) passes through town and Eugene learns of a possible lead on his past, the two boys reinvent themselves, join up, and eventually end up entangled in a scheme to steal from the King and Queen of Corona. 

I won't lie, I enjoyed this one a lot- it was a fun read, very cozy to curl up with, and even with some contradictions, it felt like a novel that was derivative of the series and set in that world. There are a lot of cameos and references, enough that I think most TTS fans will find something they like to nibble on.

Like I said in my earlier post abt the prologue and first few chapters, I'm so happy that Lance got a role alongside Eugene- he's definitely a secondary character to Eugene’s main, and he does get sidelined somewhat, but it's charming to see his friendship with Eugene and his growing passion for cooking. 

'I didn't expect anything, so I'm more delighted and pleasantly surprised than genuinely unhappy with the execution' is a running theme with this book for me and basically the tl;dr of this write-up.

There are soo many cameos and little treats- I get the impression Calonita didn't have the most complete knowledge of the series, but her chats with Chris and interest in the series’ writing definitely show. King Edmund, the Stabbingtons, all of the pub thugs, Weasel, Stalyan, and the Baron all make appearances, and we get cameos from Cap, Maximus, Pascal's mother, and even Cass gets a name drop. Several series-exclusive locations are also mentioned by name- Vardaros, the Spire, and the Forest of No Return.

I'm not immune to the fannish hit of 'hey! I understand that reference!' and I really enjoyed hunting for easter eggs, so even if the presence of the pub thugs in the Baron's crew, or the boys stumbling on Rapunzel's tower in one scene and making nothing of it (yea that happened) is a lil questionable, it made me smile and I can't be mad.

I would just describe this book as 'comfy'.

(That said, I'm a little unsure who all those references are for- I feel like if you hadn't seen the series, you'd lack context and some details would be meaningless, but if you had, I think you might long for more depth and exploration...)

Structure & Progression

Here's the part where I start criticizing the book aimed at middle and elementary schoolers lmao

It's a v short book, but the plot progression still feels a little scattered- it didn’t feel quite like a heist OR a mystery. The subplot that takes up a lot of focus is actually interpersonal conflict between Lance and Eugene- and they reconcile, but not after spending much of the book in a standoff due to a misunderstanding/'liar revealed' trope.

One of Eugene's motivations for joining the circus is spotting a man with a mark on his arm that matches the one from his letter working there, and believing he'll be able to learn more abt his parents from him. He doesn't disclose this to Lance right away, and when it comes out later on, he's upset that Eugene didn't tell him- he feels tricked, and like Eugene's prioritizing his biological family over their bond. I had a hard time with this, b/c I honestly think Eugene could've literally said to Lance, 'hey, joining this circus is a great opportunity to travel, make money, send some back to the orphanage, AND I found something about my parents, will you come with me?' and Lance still would've jumped on it. Later on, there's also another similar miscommunication that deepens the rift. 

It feels like manufactured drama, and I would've loved a book of the two of them just being buds, bouncing off each other, and trying to unravel the mysteries of the DK symbol and the Baron's ulterior motives together. Lance's fears of being left behind by his friend absolutely could've surfaced without the misunderstandings, especially the closer they got to the truth. (And I don't think that'd have been dissimilar to the unused 'Trial' episode concept and flashback.)

The pacing itself... meanders. After the boys complete an initiation mission to get a hold of a special key for the Baron, time passes (two weeks in-story) and there's some slice of life as they learn the ropes, get inducted into a lifestyle of thieving (it’s revealed the circus is a front for a crime ring), and get to know the Baron's crew.

I liked these parts and would've kept them in a longer book! But maybe there could've been some fine-tuning here so big events (Eugene stealing for the first time, the heist, the meeting with the mysterious Man with the Mark) weren’t so one-and-done. There are several points where nothing's really happening because the characters can't quite connect with each other, or they're waiting around for an opportunity passively, and that makes for a frustrating exp for me as a reader.

There were also lot of elements I thought were getting set up to come into play later, but not a lot of follow through? The folk hero Lance Archer is mentioned several times and has wanted posters, but we never meet him in the flesh. The Man with the Mark is revealed to be a former member of the Brotherhood(!) named Vedis(!!), but he isn't seen again after Eugene speaks with him... once. (More on this later this post is getting so long omg) 

The Baron’s plan is revealed to be stealing a reward offered for the lost princess when it’s on display to the public during a festival. Eugene and Lance balk b/c stealing doesn’t sit well with them, especially when it’s from what are ultimately a family trying to find their lost child- they decide to do the right thing by foiling the scheme/stealing it back and returning it to the royals. It goes a bit pear-shaped and they’re caught, but are forgiven and face no consequences after explaining, other than being ousted from the circus/crime ring and making enemies of the Baron. Eugene hasn’t given up on finding the DK, but he realizes he already has a family in Lance, and that’s the most important thing; the two resolve to travel the world and have adventures together.

I want to make another post on it, but at the least it feels like a foregone conclusion given we know ‘Flynn Rider’ goes on to become a renown thief who steals the crown of the lost princess- that’s literally the plot of the movie, and being a dashing rogue is Flynn’s defining trait- so even aside from questionable ideas about wealth, class, and morality, the novel’s ending doesn’t fit what’s firmly established about his character, and I think big fans of Eugene might have an even harder time with that then me. 

(I’m very suspicious that there might’ve been some executive meddling in an attempt to soften young Eugene’s character, and send a more palatable/upstanding message to children- it feels like Disney editing the old SW films to show Han didn’t shoot first.)

It’s def one of those novels where you can take some elements you like and leave others, but overall I’d still rly rec it for series fans! I’ve been buzzing and what-iffing about it for a few days, and I got some tasty tidbits on the characters and nods to the series, which is exactly what I wanted out of it.

And maybe it’s a funky take, but honestly I want to think of this book as the beginning of an alternate timeline where Lance and Eugene got out of crime earlier, Eugene got a clue abt his heritage by chance, and it changed his course. I think embracing the retcons and contradictions to canon makes for an interesting angle, and you’ll enjoy it more if you don’t take it too seriously.

speaking of ur cass playlist hc...reminds of the time (yesterday) i found 2 playlists randomly on spotify from the same user. one was abt 3 hours of instrumental/classical "dark" & "nostalgic" music. the other almost 11 hours of nothing but hardcore bass/synth/electronic music. just an incredible tightrope act to put on in public. the synth one was also called like "psalms for synth sluts" which is Also incredible

this is def some of grayson's better work, but it suffers from the same thing all of her stories do. she doesn't fully understand all the characters. if one character is off it affects the whole story. a lot of her stories have good ideas and poor execution, and this one definitely doesn't have awful execution but there's still something missing and as someone who loves the titans it's just sad. i get why people like this story - it made me tear up at the end ngl - but the rest of the titans are just as important as dick and it feels like the writer doesn't understand that. (i get this is a dick comic but it's still a titans story.) (it does however make me want to write a fic expanding upon this moment and the aftermath bc the idea of the titans all coming together to cheer dick up is so goooooood. are they gonna have a party celebrating dick's parent's lives? are they gonna eat junk food and watch a comfort movie? are they gonna just sit and talk?? the possibilities are endless!!)

HIIII HII OMG HI ok anon ilysm. FIRST OFF disclaimer i love freckle sibs and team awesome equally but i am SOOOO extra mentally ill abt freckle siblings for no reason so a lot of this will probably be abt them. that aside i will gladly give u some of my hcs

- eugene has called varian his brother for a while, like, ever since they found about their shared history regarding the dark kingdom. varian didn’t really have a problem humoring him because of that, and it just became normal- rapunzel, however, he didn’t start calling his sister for a WHILE, cuz like, that’s the fucking PRINCESS,,, he was incredibly awkward about it for a very long time until one day rapunzel randomly referred to him as her brother and he was like “oh. i guess thats. what we’re doing now. Huh”

(cass then became his sister by extension and nobody ever questioned it).

- this is a long one but ever since quirin was freed from the amber, varian hasn’t been able to sleep alone. something about all the time he spent alone in jail, he’s not able to relax anymore unless he at least has the presence of someone with him ect ect. the first night he had quirin back he slept in his bed and it kind of just became a constant.

however when he starts staying at the castle more, helping with the rebuilding and installing the water tanks and such- and often needing to stay the night there if for some reason he couldn’t make the trip home- it became more of an issue.

sometimes quirin would be there staying with him, and they’d share a guest room, but other times he was alone- and the idea of staying the night at the castle would cause him a lot of anxiety. rapunzel and eugene obviously take note of this, and eventually, varian confides in eugene about his worries, a part of him worrying he might laugh or tease him- but eugene just shrugs and goes “alright, i’ll set up a bed for you then” and that was that

rapunzel takes a bit longer because he has that same awkwardness about her being a princess (this soon vanishes like it never existed in the first place so don’t worry) but eugene urges him to tell her and he eventually does. from that point onward they all have little sleepovers together, even to the point where neither of them complain if varian just climbs into bed with them like a little kid who woke up from a nightmare

varian stopped having a lot of issues with this during his travels, he was fairly content since the science kids already tended to either share tents or sleep in piles, plus he had started to become more comfortable sleeping alone, but rapunzel and eugene on the other hand….kind of missed it. so much so that they were a little disappointed when varian came back with a partner!!! one who now sleeps with him almost every night!!! varian was honestly surprised to hear this too, if anything he would’ve thought the accommodation to be a burden on them but instead they actually. missed?? his presence??? impossible. absolutely unheard of

but of course, he obliged, and the three of them started having their occasional little sleepovers together again <3 though i don’t think anyone in this family has very consistent sleeping arrangements since they usually just tend to fall asleep wherever in big cuddle piles

- on that note, varian also already has insomnia and has trouble sleeping in the first place, so rapunzel and eugene are both very protective of this and if varian falls asleep anywhere inconvenient they’ll let him use them as a pillow

- even after rapunzel assured varian a thousand times he could come see her if he ever needed anything, depending on the time of day, the guards would often stare at him or ask questions, and it would make him uneasy. so he eventually didn’t bother. when he admitted this to rapunzel, she told him shed take care of it, and he just,,, never had a problem again. he. honestly doesn’t rlly want to know what she did but nobody bugs him anymore and he can see raps whenever he wants. So???? win??? i guess??? Maybe????

- varian loves to steal clothes. from bf…siblings….dad….just anyone. esp since i am a fashion disaster varian truther and i think he just wears whatever he can find most of the time. not that anyone rlly minds though! he and rapunzel are the same size so they share a lot of clothes,,, rapunzel gets especially into it the more varian becomes confident in his gender expression. he also wears a lot of his dad and eugene’s shirts as pajamas during the trials because they remind him of them

- OH!!! ON THAT NOTE!!! THE BRACELETS!!!

i try to draw their matching bracelets every time i draw them post 7k,,,,, rapunzel gave them to him before he left and they have the sun charm to remind him of home <33

- ppl talk about rapunzel and eugene comforting/taking care of varian ALL THE TIME but ppl hardly ever mention varian helping them too!!! like obviously they don’t want to put any of their burdens on him when he’s younger than them, but varian is smart and knows when he’s being lied to or spoken down to. plus he wants to help his loved ones + is stubborn as hell meaning trying to hide something from him is NOT an easy feat. so yeah they realize pretty fast that there’s not really any way around it

luckily varian is also very autistic analytical, and he quickly is able to realize and tell their “cues” for how they’re feeling that day. rapunzel putting extra effort into masking/being too overly positive or eugene being more irritable than usual- he’s able to easily recognize their moods and try to calm them down or get them somewhere more comfortable

- varian and rapunzel ESPECIALLY balance each other out a lot,, varian is more organized while rapunzel’s free spirit tends to leave her kinda scatterbrained. so they often give each other reminders and stuff. but they both have an awful habit of putting the other’s needs before their own so sometimes eugene has to sort both of them out

varian is also VERY protective of his sister, she’s improved tremendously but she can still be a bit naive sometimes,,, maybe. that or varian is just paranoid!!! but still!!! nothing wrong with being safe!!!

- rapunzel and varian both tend to be awake at really odd hours, rapunzel basically waking up with the fucking sun (also sometimes just being awoken by nightmares and not being able to fall back asleep) and varian who on some occasions doesn’t fall asleep until like 4-6 am (he’s just like me fr) so if those schedules overlap they’ll usually hang out in the gardens and stargaze or make tea or something

- varian’s self preservation habits are SHIT, we know this obviously, but they used to be way worse when he was younger. especially since he hated looking at himself before he transitioned so he kind of just ignored his appearance altogether. post RR when he started hanging out at the castle more, eugene encouraged him to improve his self care habits, especially regarding his hair (which had kind of become a frizzy, greasy mess), and gradually he started to look a lot nicer. the biggest thing they noticed was that his curls became way more prominent!!! rapunzel thought it was the cutest thing ever <333

Something More? (Chapter 4)

I’ve been neglecting my tumblr lately. Here’s Chapter 4! (AO3 link, if you prefer)

Chapter 3, Chapter 2, Chapter 1

The only thought in Cassian’s mind was There is no way this is actually happening . Because, really, there was no way that Nesta had just pulled him down and kissed him. The was no logical explanation to the fact that Nesta’s lips were on his.

It took him about five seconds to stop with the crazy, wrap his arms around her waist, pull her closer and deepen the kiss. Damn it all to hell, this was the best kiss ever. Best. Best. Best.

Her kiss was unexpectedly fierce and fiery and intimate, like she was making up for the fact that most of the time she was cold and mostly detached. Her lips were soft, her tongue demanding, her hands were still clinging to his shirt like if she let him go he might just disappear.  

He broke the kiss, resting his forehead to hers, “Mmm… I’m not objecting to that or anything, but what did I do to deserve that and what do I have to do for it to happen again?”

“Shut up.” She said, then she just kissed him again.

This went on for quite a while, Cassian was sure neither of them wanted it to stop. That being said, he soon became aware that they were in the middle of campus, probably surrounded by a bunch of curious students and faculty.

He broke the kiss again, with a chuckle, “Look, Nez, I can’t even explain how much I don’t want to stop but, I think we’ve given them enough of a show. And, truly, it pains me to say that I still want to talk.”

She sighs, “Fine, that’s fair.”

“I bought some wine, I was kinda worried you’d think I was trying something, but since you already did, I’m just going to go with it.”

“Just wine? No food?”

“I wasn’t finished talking, sweetheart. I’m cooking and making you whatever you want.”

She smiled at that, “Whatever I want?”

“Whatever you want, sweetheart. Are we going to your house or mine?”

She thought about that for a second, “Mine. I’ll make sure Feyre isn’t there so we can be alone… Just in case…”

He smirked, “Let’s go then.” He decided he wanted to hold her hand, so he took her hand, hoping she wouldn’t take her away. She didn’t and he couldn’t help but smile.

Nesta: Hey Fey, r u staying home all nite?

Feyre: Going 2 dinner w Rhys in 5

Nesta: Ok

Feyre: y do you ask? R u bringing a man home u don’t want me to see? Hahaha

Nesta: Yes muahaha

Feyre: O.O WHO?

Nesta: ...Cassian?...

Feyre: CASSIAN! O.O O.O O.O O.O

Nesta: Shut up. It’s abt yesterday.

Feyre: Did u kiss him and try 2 take his clothes off? Is that what was so embarrassing?

Nesta: I was drunk, not demented.

Nesta: (not his clothes anyway)

Feyre: Lmao so the dementia part came on 2day

Nesta: Lol yeah

“Are you going to help or just look at me with that scared expression the entire time?” Cassian asked once he started cooking in her little kitchenette. They had gone to the grocery store because: “We don’t stock actual food ingredients in the house, just stuff for me to bake, Cassian. So unless you want to eat something that needs only flour, sugar and yeast we need groceries!” And now here they were, cooking together. Kinda.

“I’m not scared. I just don’t really cook. The kind of don’t cook that has tried but failed every attempt.” She said, looking at what he was doing with the broccoli with a suspicious look.

He laughed, “It won’t explode, Nez, com’ere. I swear, with me, there’s no way this will go wrong.” she lifted an eyebrow but didn’t move. Cassian couldn’t help but laugh, “Come on, come to Cass. Cass is great at cooking, trust Cass.”

She closed her eyes and shook her head in something close to amusement and said “Stop talking about yourself in the third person, you dope.” He could tell she was trying not to smile when she looked down.

“You know you like Cass, sweetheart, even if Cass is a dope. Sometimes. Now help Cass, will you?”

She rolled her eyes and muttered “You’re an idiot,” but she walked to him and sighed, “What is it you want me to do?”

He smiled, “Put these on top of the water to steam,” he said, pointing at the broccoli with a knife. “No one can mess that up.”

She tossed the pieces in the steamer, then lifted her eyebrow at him, “I could oversteam them,” she drawled.

He chuckled, “I’m in charge of that, actually. So no, it won’t oversteam.”

“What are you doing with broccoli anyway? I said I wanted steak.” She says, lifting herself on the counter next to him.

“Side dish.” he said, throwing some salt into the potatoes he just put on the stove to boil.

She sighed, “Broccoli is so boring, they taste green.”

“Broccoli gratin is what I’m making.” she lifted an eyebrow, obviously telling him she had no idea what that means. He moved so that when he leaned over he was braced on either side of her. Looking up at her he said, “Broccoli with a bunch of cheese on it.”

“Yummy.” she said, smiling down at him.

He tapped a finger on his lips, asking for a kiss. She gave him a look, “Hey, I’m making you food. I should get a kiss.” She gave him a little peck and she was obviously going to stop with that, “So,” he started, “What the heck do you and Feyre eat if neither of you cook?”

“Feyre goes out to eat with Rhys a lot. I make bread, good healthy bread, and we’re stocked up on cold cuts. I eat sandwiches and salads mostly, go out to eat when you guys invite me.” she shrugs.

He chuckled a little, “That’s why you’re so thin even though you never work out.”

She shook her head, giving him a push on the shoulder, “Hey! That’s so obnoxious.”

“Hey, I work out everyday and I make money off of making other people work out. Good money, too.” He gave her his most brilliant grin, “You didn’t think I could be this-”

“Hulking.” she interrupted, rolling her eyes.

“ Hulking? ” he asked furrowing his brow at the wrong adjective.

She started playing with his hair, “Gargantuan, mammoth,”

He swatted her hand, “I know what it means, you evil woman.” She chuckled, but he took her hand and put it back in his hair, “I was going to say ‘hot’.”

She bit her lip, “That too…” she said quietly.

He smiled, “Now that we’ve cleared that - and you’re hot too, by the way. How is it you can bake but you can’t cook?” He walked back and to check on the potatoes and start on grating the cheese. The potatoes were still uncooked so he left them and the broccoli were just right, so he took them off the steam and into the the ice he had prepared.

Nesta made a noise, “I can get flour and water and yeast turn into this delicious bread but I can’t get anything that has fresh ingredients to come together.”

He chuckled a bit, as he took the cheese and the grater, “Can I ask you to grate this cheese for me?” she nodded and took the cheese as he turned around to check the potatoes again, he drains it and began to mash them, “So, how do you like your steak?”

He placed the plates on the table and sat down. Nesta liked him a lot in that moment, though she was a little scared it might go away… “So,” he said quietly, face a little smug, “are we going to talk about what you said or what?”

She looked down at her steak. It was on top of some mashed potatoes and it looked pretty with the cheesy broccoli on the side of it, she took a bite of the broccoli and it was surprisingly good. She sighed, “What did I say, because I don’t really remember…”

He was eating already when he stopped and looked at her, “That was the problem Nez, you didn’t say anything concrete. Just got this scared look on your face and said your ex got ‘really mad’ when you broke up with him…”

She sighed, cutting into her perfectly medium rare steak, so perfect she wanted to weep, but she settled into putting it into her mouth and groaning it was so perfect. “Best steak,” she croaked. He lifted a brow at her, pleased that she liked it but not having it with her changing the subject, “Okay, fine. He was mad.”

He rubbed his eyes, “Nez, please just tell me he didn’t hurt you, tell me he didn’t touch a hair on your head. Please .”

She took her glass of wine and drained it… then filled it another time and drained that again. “Eat, Cass… Otherwise everything will get cold… And wine, let’s drink all the wine.”

He sighed, “Nesta,”

“Please,” she said quietly, “The food is so good and I haven’t had this good a steak… ever. It’ll take like ten minutes, please, Cass.”

“Okay.” He sighed.

“Please don’t be like that, I’ll tell you, I promise, just let me eat… And save the getting mad, we can do that, later.”

He nodded and started talking about how good the food was, she ate pretty fast because it was the best food she’d had at home. Ever.

She felt Cassian’s hand on hers, squeezing gently, “What happened, Nesta?” he said quietly.

Her eyes started tearing up as she thought back to what had happened. She’d never really cried about it before, other than right after. Maybe it was Cassian and his hazel eyes… “He tried…” she swallowed, took a deep breath, “He tried to rape me…” she whispered the last part because she couldn’t really say it louder than that.

He went very still for a moment and he looked mad but his hand on her was impossibly gentle. He was dangerously quiet when he asked, “What’s his name?”

“Why do ask?” she said sadly.

“So I can kill him.” he said very seriously, in a way that made her think he might just do it. She threw her hands in the air and ran her fingers through her hair. Cassian rolled his eyes, “Fine, I’ll just beat the crap out of him. Not as satisfying, but still.”

She’d been taking a sip of her wine to take the edge off but she couldn’t help but snort at that. “Can I get less angry Cass so he’d tell me to hug him?”

His entire demeanor softened, “Of course, sweetheart, come here.”

She walked to him (and his open arms because he was Cassian ), and sat on his lap. Her arms went around his neck as she settled on his chest. He was very huggable, incredibly so, like a big - very muscular - teddy bear. He even rubbed gentle circles on her back.

“He sounds like a jerk.” he said a few minutes later.

She snorted, “In my defense, all the Archeron sisters make horrible choices when it comes to men.”

He laughed, “Your sister is dating my brother.”

“Rhys chose her more than anything. We Archerons have a horrible track record, Tomas Mandray for me. Elain was so infatuated with this horrible guy, Graysen for like a year until he dumped her for some racist reason. Tamlin as you well know.”

“Wow.” he marveled.

“Yep. Daddy issues at its finest.” she smiled unto his chest, a little happy somehow.

He was still gently rubbing her back when he asked, “Can I ask you how the relationship was like? I mean, how did he treat you up until, y’know?”

She sighed and shook her head, “It was,” she shrugged, “Bad. I was never good enough, I was never a good girlfriend,” she huffed, “I was too cold. Bad in bed.”

He stopped and grabbed her by the arms so he could look at her, “The motherfucking asshole told you you were bad in bed ?” he shook his head and rolled his eyes, “Now I really want to kill the guy.”

She shrugged again, “It’s probably true…”

He snorted, “Bullshit.”

She hugged his neck again, “Hey, Cass…”

“Yeah?”

“Can you stay? You can sleep with me…” she could feel his eyebrow raising, “Not like that… actual sleep. I don’t think I want to… you know, after all the talking.”

“Okay, I’ll stay. But cuddling is required.” He said seriously.

She huffed a laugh. Then she smiled, “Promise?”
