Kim Seungmin didn't like celebrating his birthday that much. Sure, he liked receiving a few gifts from his friends and a happy birthday here and there, but he didn't like the blowout parties that you loved. On your birthday, you would plan this whole thing, inviting friends from school and neighbors to celebrate your birthday. You were a social butterfly, so he understood why you did that. You loved being surrounded by people you cherished. Your birthday was just an excuse to call everyone over and spend time with them.
Seungmin, however, liked keeping his celebrations more reserved. His mother greeted him in the morning, making his favorite breakfast to eat and favorite lunch to take to school. His dad handed him some cash to buy something to eat after school, which he usually didn't do and opted to save it for a better cause. His sister offered to take him out for lunch on the weekend.
Of course, being the wonderful and amazing best friend that you were (your words), you always went out of your way to do something. Like this year, you presented him with a small cake slightly smushed in your lunch box with haphazardly thrown purple sprinkles.
“I made it from scratch,” you added with a big grin as you sat in front of his desk. His friends had left a few moments ago to play on the school grounds. He'd stayed back, finishing up the last of his lunch and letting it settle in his stomach before he ran around playing soccer. A small smile formed on his face; he could never dislike your enthusiasm for his birthday.
“It looks... artistic,” he said in an amused tone, looking up from the lunch box to your face, which was scrunched up in a frown.
“I didn't know the box would be small... And hey, I baked this for you; at least show some appreciation!”
Seungmin laughed. “Sorry, thank you for making this cake for me.” He meant that; he knew that you knew it too, because your shoulders relaxed, and you prompted him to take a bite and tell him how it tasted. There was a little too much sugar for his liking, but he didn't tell you that, instead nodding his head in approval and eating more of it. It was strawberry-flavored, his favorite. It warmed his heart that you always went out of your way to do things the way that he liked.
When he looked back at you, you were tucking a strand of hair back as you ate a spoonful. The longer he looked at you, the faster his heartbeat went, his body feeling hot right up to the tip of his ears. It was a weird feeling, but not foreign. Lately, it had been happening more often. He started seeing you in a different light, something other than a friend—not just any friend, but a childhood friend. He wasn't naive; he knew what crushes were, and he knew he had one on you.
It was a realization he had come across a few months ago when his family and yours went to the carnival over the summer and the two of you had gotten separated. He came home that day, heart tap dancing in his ribcage and a never-ending smile on his face from the way you jumped with excitement after you worked together to win the obviously rigged carnival games and winning a plushie.
Some part of him knew that. You liked him back as well; he hoped his brain wasn't playing tricks on him when he saw the way your eyes lit up after seeing him. The innocent friendship you two shared was morphing into something different—a good different.
That evening, while the two of you were walking home after the extra classes you had, the crisp evening air sent a tingle down his spine as he walked along the pavement, listening to whatever you were talking about and adding his own insights whenever he felt like it.
“Oh, hey, look! Tteokbokki!” You said excitedly, pointing to the food cart run by a middle-aged woman serving the steaming hot spicy rice cakes to a few customers. With a tug of his arm, you dragged him over and ordered one spicy one for both of you to share. He didn't like eating spice as much as you did, but he didn't want to say no to you. After a short debate, he used his birthday money to pay for the food, and the two of you walked along the riverside slowly as you ate.
“Mm, these are good,” you let out a satisfied hum and continued eating.
“They are,” he agreed. The spice was present at the back of his throat, but it was weirdly good after the oversweet cake he had during lunch.
“It tastes good after eating that sugar monster I made, right?” Seungmin turned his head to look at you. “What? Don't give me that look, that cake was so sweet, how did you even finish the whole thing? It tasted like I dumped a whole box of sugar in the batter.”
“True
But you made it, so I wanted to eat it,” he admitted, feeling his face flush lightly. If you teased him about it, he was going to brush it off and blame it on the tteokbokki, but your own cheeks mimicked his, tinging red at his sudden admission.
“Still,” you protested, “I'll have to make a better one that doesn't taste like cavities.”
“I like the oversweet one. Maybe I'm an extra sugar kinda person.”
"No, you're not.”
“It wasn't even that bad.”
“Now you're just lying.”
The two of you dissolved into laughter, finishing up the last of your food. The walk home continued in relative silence for a while, him mulling over his words and wondering if he made you uncomfortable because you were too quiet. Before he could make an apology, you spoke quietly.
“I'm glad you liked it, but I still wish I could've given you a better birthday present.”
He stared at the path in front of them, the streets lit up by lamps and porch lights. “You already gave me the perfect birthday present.”
You tilted your head to the side. “What?”
“You,” he blurted out, regretting his words the next second, but once he saw your flustered reaction, his nerves calmed a little. “Now let's go home and act surprised at whatever my parents planned.” You giggled in response and nodded, your footsteps falling in sync as you walked beside him.
“Happy birthday, Seungmin.”
“You said that like ten times today!”

Tumblr media
Working as a nurse and befriending some of these boys, you mostly dreaded the day when one of them would come to you in a state that was doomed. To stare at your dying friend in pain, knowing you can’t do anything about it
That was keeping you awake at night. It was already difficult enough already to witness the boys you didn’t know at all die like this and not be able to help. But a vision of one of your friends in this situation was impossible to handle at times.
The one you worried about the most was Major Gale Cleven, the one everyone kept calling Buck. But you were the only person who still was calling him Gale. He was your friend from the moment he showed up. Handsome, charming but in a quiet way, kind-hearted and very responsible. You admired the way he was with his boys; like an older brother they could look up to. And not long time had passed until you realised you were actually in love with him.
Of course you would never admit that. But it made you smile when the boys admitted you were their favourite nurse, when they were treating you like the female equivalent of Gale Cleven at the base. Almost as if you were playing house with him with a bunch of pilots who were like your sons.
But loving a pilot was a dangerous business for the heart. Not that love could have been prevented. You had no control over that. But at least it was unrequited – in other circumstances you would cry your heart out into your pillow at night for loving someone who didn’t reciprocate his feelings. But this time it was for the better.
Yet, when you found him in the med bay after one of the missions, your heart skipped a beat. Your friend was talking to him softly, his face was in blood. You approached them immediately, ignoring other patients waiting for your care and attention.
“What’s going on? What’s wrong?” You asked, trying to hide how nervous you were.
“His plane got hit,” your friend explained. “He managed to come back and land safely with a concussion, can you imagine?” The admiration in her voice made you feel jealous and you hated this side of you. She had every right to admire him for this sort of achievement. “I have to clean the wounds on his face. Poor lad, they’re gonna leave scars.”
“I’ll do it,” you dismissed her and moved past her, nearly pushing her away. She was surprised at your reaction but she didn’t have time to think about it or comment because other patients needed her.
So, she left you alone with Gale. His beautiful eyes were hazy from the concussion and probably a state of shock his body was in. He wouldn’t be able to fly a plane with a concussion if not for the adrenaline in his blood system.
“Hi,” you greeted him softly when you started to clean the wounds on his face gently. They were not very deep but they caused lots of bleeding and your friend was right; some of them would leave scars. Not that you minded, you only hoped he wouldn’t grow insecure because of them. “You’ve gained some scars, brave fly boy,” you chuckled nervously but he only looked at you like he didn’t recognise you. “It’s okay. You’ll sleep it off,” you caressed his hair gently.
He was confused and in pain but yet, you hated yourself for kind of liking this version of Gale Cleven. Not only was he even more adorable than usual but also you could allow yourself the gestures you would never do if he was acting like himself.
When his face was clean and you washed some of his hair, too – the parts that got stuck together with blood, you laid him down gently and smiled softly at his handsome face. He reached his hand out as if he wanted you to hold it. An unusual thing to do, which made your heart flutter in your chest, but you tried to remember that he was not acting sane at the moment. Still, you gently took his hand and sat on the edge of the bed. You decided to be with him until he’d wake up. Even if it would be the whole rest of the day and a night.
“Other boys need you,” the doctor approached you with a furrowed brow.
“He needs me the most,” you looked up.
“Cleven had a slight concussion, he will be absolutely fine,” the doctor insisted.
You knew that he was right and you didn’t want to act suspicious, so you sighed and squeezed Gale’s hand before leaving his side to go back to work. However, you worked as fast as you could, not even talking to the boys you were taking care of, just focusing purely on your job. And when you were finished, you went back to Gale’s bed and sat on the edge to watch over him. He looked so peaceful when he slept.
His wounds still kept bleeding a little here and there so you continued to clean them once in a while. And in his sleep, he sometimes moved, so you were putting your hand on his forehead, trying to calm him down and make sure he didn’t have a fever. Bucky checked on him in the meantime.
“Thanks for taking care of him,” he winked at you and you could feel your cheeks heating up. Did he know
? Were you that obvious?
“It’s nothing. He always takes care of all of you boys. I can see that and they always tell me that. Even today, the guys from his fort were asking me to take extra care of Major Cleven,” I answered with all honesty.
“Yeah, they look up to him. What he did today was
incredible,” Bucky nodded. “When they landed, he didn’t even recognise me but a few minutes earlier he had been flying the goddamn plane in this state.”
“It was shock and adrenaline,” you explained. “He could have forgotten us but not how to survive and fly,” you added with a smile. “Or he’s a natural. Maybe he was born and already knew how to fly.”
“Believe me, he didn’t,” Bucky chuckled and shook his head. “I remember our early days
 He didn’t.”
“Okay,” you giggled and squeezed Gale’s hand tighter. You imagined what he had to be like in the early days of his training. He had to be adorable; a bit scared but also full of hope and optimism, that boyish excitement. “Thanks for checking up on him. When he wakes up, I’ll tell him you came.”
“If he recognises us,” Bucky made a joke and walked out of the med bay but it left you anxious now. He was right. The doctor had said it was a slight concussion but
What if Gale would wake up and not recognise any of you?
Lost in thoughts, you didn’t realise he was having a dream again. You only reacted when he started to mumble some incoherent things.
“Shh, Gale, shh, it’s fine,” you whispered softly when you leaned in to see his face better and put both of your hands on his wounded cheeks, delicately, avoiding to cause him any further pain.
“...Her
” He mumbled, his words suddenly making sense. You furrowed your brow. “I love her.”
You swallowed thickly at those words. It was only a dream, right? It didn’t mean anything. He couldn’t be in love with someone else
?
You shook it off. What were you even thinking of? What did it matter? You were not together and you would never be.
But then, Gale mumbled your name. Yours, not anyone else’s. You had to blink a few times and catch your breath all over again. And when you thought it had all been a mistake, he mumbled it out again and and again and then

“I love her,” he repeated.
However, he seemed to be in a great torment because of whatever the dream was about. So, with a heavy heart, you shook his shoulders a little, forcing him to come back to reality.
“Hi,” you greeted him softly as his eyes widened. “Welcome back, soldier. Do you know where you are?”
“Wh-what happened?” He sat up rapidly, his hands immediately going to his face as if he wanted to check if everything was in its place.
“What’s the last thing you remember?” You asked, adjusting yourself on the edge of his bed to be closer to him.
“We got hit
 Oh my God
We got hit!” He panicked but you shushed him. Other boys were asleep and you didn’t want them to wake up or be alarmed by his attack.
“It’s fine, hey, Gale, it’s okay. Everyone from your fort is fine and you know why
?” You asked with a gentle smile. He shook his head. “Because you safely took them home and landed that goddamn plane even though you had concussion and didn’t know your own name,” you tried to sound casual but the pride in your voice was more than obvious.
“I
I did that?” He asked. “No way.”
“Yeah, you did,” you laughed. “And I cleaned your face, it was all bloody. You’re gonna have some scars,” you explained. “Want a mirror?”
“I don’t think so,” Gale winced as his fingertips traced the wounds. He hissed out of pain so you grabbed his wrists and took the hands away from his face.
“Don’t. They’re still fresh. But not so bad, I’ve seen worse,” you tried to cheer him up. “In fact, I think, you’re gonna look amazing,” you winked and he sighed. “You remember me, right?”
“What? What are you talking about? Of course I do,” he furrowed his brows as his eyes looked worried.
“Yeah, but after you landed, you didn’t. You didn’t even know who Bucky was. He was here, you know. Checking on you. And all the boys from your fort were so worried about you. You’re a real leader,” you squeezed his hands but he didn’t say anything to these things. Praises were making him blush and he did now as well, looking away.
“Well, thanks for taking care of me,” he finally looked at you again.
“No problem. You wanted me to stay, reaching your hands out like a little boy,” you chuckled nervously. Perhaps it was a bad idea to bring this up.
“Yeah, well, I had to feel lonely when I couldn’t recognise anyone. Even when I can, I often feel lonely,” he admitted with a shrug of his arms. “We’re so far away from home, from our families. The boys are like family, too, but every day can be their last. And men
 Well, we don’t really
” He tried to look for words.
“Hold each other’s hands?” You asked and he nodded. You squeezed his hands again. “You talked in your sleep,” you brought that up, encouraged by his last confession.
“Oh dear God
” Gale rolled his eyes, visibly embarrassed. “What about?”
“You were talking about some girl that you love,” you teased him, grinning and winking playfully, pretending to be a teasing friend and hiding the nervousness. “She happens to have the same name as me or something.”
You expected him to be defensive or laugh at you. You would push his shoulder gently and tell him that you had been joking. But he didn’t react like that at all. In fact, he took his hands away as if your touch burnt him and he cleared his throat nervously.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered. “Can we
Can we pretend you’ve never heard that?”
Your heart skipped a beat at his words. You kept staring at him in disbelief and bit on your lower lip.
“How?” You asked, feeling a sudden outburst of bravery in you. If Gale could have flown a plane with a concussion, you could say what you wanted to say. “How am I supposed to pretend I have never heard that? When that’s
That’s all I ever wanted to hear.”
Gale looked up at you as if he had to check with his own eyes if you weren’t joking. But you were dead serious.
“So don’t pretend,” he finally spoke up and reached out for your hand again. His fingers were cold and shaky. You intertwined them with yours. “But I didn’t want to do anything until
Well, I planned to ask you to dance with me at the party after my 25th mission. But I never wanted to let you know before that because if I died
”
“If you died, I would never know,” you looked up to meet his gaze with tears pricking your eyes. “And you think that’s fair? You think it would make it easier for me? It would not.”
“I’m sorry,” Gale swallowed thickly. “Are you angry with me?”
“For that? No. For nearly dying today? Yes,” you nodded and wiped your tears away with your free hand.
“Let’s make a deal,” he proposed, looking at you with pain in his eyes. He hated to see you so sad and crying
Especially when it was caused by him. “Let’s not
Let’s not do anything about it until I’ve done my missions, alright?”
“Alright,” you nodded through the tears. “But
What if you don’t finish them
?”
“Well, then, we’re both gonna die without ever kissing each other,” he lowered his voice even though all the other nurses were out of the med bay and other patients were asleep. “But
That doesn’t sound right to me.”
“That doesn’t sound right to me either,” you admitted.
“Then come here,” he encouraged you to get closer. “Just one kiss.”
“A promise of many more, I hope. Not the last one,” you said in a shaky voice but he only nodded his head because that was a promise he couldn’t make.
If it depended on him, he would. He would swear on everything. But it depended on things much bigger than you or him. On things he couldn’t control nor prevent.
He cupped your face delicately, as if it were you with the wounds on your cheeks, and he joined your lips in a sweet kiss, even though it tasted salty from all your tears.
“Just don’t die,” you breathed out when the kiss ended. “Just don’t die and the rest I can fix and endure.”

I just wanted to say that the way you characterize and talk about Miguel has actually really helped me with thinking about how to write for him 😭 genuinely I love the way you describe him as an actual like person and not just some sex addict or someone who's extremely distant and cold. I hope you continue writing mild Miguel because it's so refreshing compared to all the other shit I see 😭💕
THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHH THIS IS A MIGUEL SAFE SPACE AND LIKE- CAN I BE REAL FOR A SECOND???
MIGUEL ISN'T AN ASSHOLE YOU PEOPLE ARE JUST MEAN - A.K.A -
My Defense & Evidence of a Milder, Non-aggressive Sympathetic Miguel O'hara.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[This is a half-break down half rant about Mild Miguel, when we see Miguel's true nature, and what fandom gets wrong about him. I have my evidence.
this is shorter than my usual posts but I'm going absolute apeshit Miguel Mode by the end so sorry you have to see that.]
I think Miguel and Hobie are the two most complex characters in the film. Like - both of them equally.
It's just really easy to explain one over the other.
I feel this way because every character we see in the entire movie - Miles, Gwen, Peter, Jess, Rio, Jeff, The Spot, everyone - is forthcoming and clear about their intentions and motive throughout the movie.
When we're watching the movie the first time, we understand Miles motive, and Peter's, and Gwen. In real time. It's there and stated. Miles wants to save his dad, Peter wants to be a better mentor, Gwen just wants peace basically.
But when we're watching for the first time - we have no idea what Hobie OR Miguel is capable of until they do it.
They are the two we're surprised by. (And they're also exact opposites who somehow don't seem to be complete adversaries)
They're the only two within the film who we are left to speculate their motive, their drive, and what they'll do next.
They're the only two in the film who are truly meant to catch us off guard with their behavior.
Leading up to Hobie's big twist, there was a LOT of misdirection. I think the same is true for Miguel...but like..the fandom isn't picking up on the misdirection AT ALL.
I have a lot of ideas and thoughts about Miguel and his character and honestly I think it's the exact opposite of what the fandom sees.
But when its's Hobie, it's very easy to understand him, just read the wiki on Punk and you're good.
But I don't think anyone has look closer at Miguel yet.
I genuinely believe that the reason Miles got away was because Miguel went soft.
He was watching the videos of Gaby to remind himself why he was doing this - why he had to stand his ground, but when Miles started panicking, and begging to know how much time he had left - Miguel slipped up. He went soft.
And he told him 'two days'.
You can see it in Miguel's face when Miles is asking.
Tumblr media
That's not the face of a man considering assault. That's not anger. He's wavering.
He didn't have to tell Miles how long he had left. But he did - why? Cause he thought 'I'd kill for two days with Gabby. A lot of people get less warning about death - Maybe he can spend those two days with his fath-'
and then Miles is like 'word?? two days to stop you?? iight im out also fuck yall' - which understandable have a nice day
But like......Miguel wouldn't have said it if he knew it would fuck him over. He didn't KNOW Miles was radicalized cause he didn't know Hobie had spoken to him. He thought that telling him might convince him. If he knew Miles was gonna run - there's no need to tell him anything.
He could've lied and said "I DON'T KNOW. But maybe let's talk about this."
But he didn't. He slipped up.
He's SOFT. Everytime he's mean, or angry - He has to think about it. Like when he looked at Hobie - and thought about it. He has to MAKE himself do it. It isn't natural to him.
Nobody else in the room was gonna answer Miles. Miles wouldn't have known. But Miguel told him two days. And because of that, that specific slip-up, Miles is trying to save his dad.
Why? Because he's SOFT. CAPITAL S SOFT.
Miguel is not a raging monster. Or aggressive. Or manipulative.
He's a guy who thinks he's holding the universe together with duct tape and a kid is in front of him begging to know how long they have left with their father and he tells them and because of that they get away and now everything he worked for is gonna emplode in his face because he had a SOFT SPOT FOR A KID AGAIN AND DID SOMETHING HE SHOULDN'T AGAIN AND TOLD HIM AND NOW PEOPLE ARE GONNA DIE AGAIN BECAUSE HE MESSED WITH THE MULTIVERSE AGAIN FUCK-
Like...yeah- he snapped. A normal person would snap. I've snapped for way less and a lot of other people have.
Granted, we don't go mauling children.
I don't know, I just feel like he's an incredibly layered character.
Because when he's ranting and screaming at Gwen like an irritated school teacher we're already like 'oh fuck you dude but also fuck you ;)'
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so when he's right there doing things like this - we don't see it. The same way we don't see Hobie's stealing - because we think we have him figured out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We don't see Miguel's tenderness.
Because we assume we know who he is - he's cold and aggressive and rude and hates Miles,
but like...is he really?
Miles is getting upset - and the whole conversation leading up to it Miguel has talked to him from a far, hands when Miles can see them. He's not trying to stand over him, or intimidate him. Miguel knows he's scary. He knows how to be scary.
He isn't trying to scare Miles. The exact opposite. He's trying to comfort him.
And when Miles starts lashing out - Miguel is genuinely surprised. That isn't the look of someone who THINKS he's about to hurt this kid.
He's telling Miles, hands up "Hey, sorry. I'm not trying to hurt you." He immediately lets go, backs up.
I just---- FUCK, PEOPLE THE MAN IS STANDING RIGHT THERE THATS MILD MIGUEL LOOK AT HIM
Tumblr media
If you really really think Miguel is naturally aggressive, or angry, or cold -
If you write him that way -
I ask that you rewatch the leading up to Miles' escape. Look at his body language. Watch him, and look at his face. That's all I ask.
I just kjsjrghjkSIGHIDDGU I CAN'T STAND FOR THIS INJUSTICE AND EMOTIONAL ILLITERACY
HES NOT A GOOD GUY BUT LIKE....HE'S ... THE ONE YALL ARE SERVING...COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MAN.
He's SOFT. The same way he caved for Gwen after a little pushing. He caved for Miles after a little pushing. That's why he told him two days. SOFT
MILD MIGUEL, SOFT MIGUEL, WANTS TO DO THE HARD THING BUT FUCK HE CAN'T DO IT MIGUEL, HAS TO STAND COMPLETELY STILL AND UNMOVING TO NOT CAVE TO MAYDAY MIGUEL, MIGUEL WHO LOVES PEOPLE BUT KEEPS HIS DISTANCE AND SHUTS HIS MOUTH BECAUSE PEOPLE GET HURT MIGUEL MIGUEL MIGUEL
Tumblr media
I'm going to go Miguel Mode.
If understanding Hobie was a house, the fandom is standing out on the road.
If understanding Miguel was a house, the people aren't even in the same neighborhood. We're in the next state over. Other side of the globe. Off base by like 12 zipcodes and 4 times zones
Mild Miguel. Please tell me you're seeing this.
Am I crazy for thinking that the slip up - of telling Miles two days - wasn't out of stupidity but PITY? SYMPATHY?
Because Miguel thinks getting to spend two whole days with some you'll lose is a BLESSING to him - not a curse.
Even though to ANY non-traumatized person - it would be a curse.
...... yo
Miguel stepped into Gabriellas life because he didn't want her to lose a father. He KNOWS losing a father hurts.
So when Miles is there in front of him, talking about not wanting to lose his father - Miguel KNOWS how he feels. Gabby didn't want to lose her dad either.
Miguel UNDERSTANDS. He's a FATHER -
HE KNOWS HE'S BEING THE BAD GUY HE KNOWS ITS WRONG NOT TO STEP IN THATS WHY HE STEPPED IN FOR GABRIELLA IN THE FIRST PLACE THIS ISN'T THE PERSON HE WANTS TO BE OR THOUGHT HE'D BECOME YOU PEOPLE ARE MEAN AND HORNY -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I- I can't even i'm sorry I -
I have a longer post about this in the works like breaking down all of his body language from his moments with MJ and Hobie and like teverything
but ITS NOT EVEN LIKE I THINK HE'S RIGHT I JUST CANT STAND PEOPLE BEING THIS WRONG ABOUT IT I CANT
If you see him as aggressive or cold this post isn't meant to be an attack. I am just down bad for Mild Miguel and I'm going delirious with hunger and starvation for him
#Justice4MildMiguel Maybe I'm huffing copium but also i know im fucking not he's RIGHT THERE
[And if you hate Miguel like hate hate him Moche says dishonor on you dishonor on your cow dishonor your family and your land in the name of Aia Paec Almighty]
If you made it this far....Imsorry you had to see me that way I don't know what came over me here's a picture of Hobie to help me calm down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(aka Hobie judging the fuck outta me in my head)
I need a glass of water. Bye.

Hola, Mar! ❀❀.
I'm here to sending you a request. Tommy telling his kids (it can be both of them, or just Charlie or just Ruby) a story about his mother. We know he didn't have good memories about her especially because what happened, but maybe, he remembered something maybe a bedtime story (or a recipe, music, etc) and he tells them about her. The kids didn't know her, but after that moment maybe they can imagine how their grandma was ❀.
My dear Flor @justrainandcoffee thank you so much for sending this request!!!! I knew I had to make it extra special since it’s part of my Grandma’s series đŸ‘”đŸ»â™„ïžâœš so I didn’t want to rush it. This made me go back in time to our endless sleepovers, it made me think of her. I hope you enjoy this 💕
Special thanks to @blondie-22 for creating the BEAUTIFUL moodboard, like always you capture the exact essence of the story đŸ„°
Edit: A/N part of this story is inspired by a song called Toy Soldier by Martika
Word count 1,172
Toy Soldier
Tumblr media
The bedroom door cracked louder than Tommy expected, he cursed himself internally because it was late and the house was quiet, the last thing he needed was to wake up his wife.
But she was already up and leaned against the window, the shadow of her frame only visible under the moonlight. Frowning, he stopped taking off his suit jacket midway when he noticed something was under the blankets of his bed.
“Why are you up?” He whispered.
“Charlie’s having trouble with bedtime.” She replied back. “He thinks there’s a monster under his bed.” She then added but also gave him a warning look so he better wouldn’t laugh it off.
“There’s no such thing.”
“They wanted to sleep here for reassurance.” Y/N placed her hands on his chest to lean in for a quick kiss. “He was so scared last night.”
“Daddy?” Ruby’s small voice broke the silence of the room.
Charlie stirred and his eyes fluttered open.
“Go back to sleep.” Tommy urged them.
“There’s a monster under my bed, I heard noises.” Charlie assured him.
Sitting next to his son, Tommy caressed his blonde hair in a loving way.
“I can assure you there’s no monster under your bed, son.” Tommy explained in a calmed tone.
“But I heard
”
Tommy shook his head gently, knowing it was a good time to share a fond memory that suddenly hit him hard. After being pushed back to the farthest place of his mind for years

“You’ve nothing to worry about,” Tommy assured his boy, then turning to face Y/N he invited her over the bed, “you want to hear what really is?”
“I do Daddy.” Ruby replied while Charlie nodded.
“It’s the toy soldier.” Tommy assured his kids. Then clearing his throat he continued. “All toys come up to life around three in the morning, when the house is quiet and you and your sister are sleeping, they start playing by themselves. But when you wake up, they stop because you must not see them.”
His voice and the fabulous tale he was narrating had both his children and Y/N captivated.
“But how do you know?” Charlie asked trying to understand.
Tommy raised his eyebrows, taking his time to explain it properly.
“Well, that’s ‘cause when I was about your age, I heard noises in my room too.”
Y/N noticed the emotions shining in his eyes and his voice.
“And you had toys like mine?” Charlie asked but Tommy shook his head.
“No, I had a horse made of wood, uncle Charlie made it for me.”
Ruby was in awe. “Like a real horse?”
“Yes but a small one, I carried it everywhere.” He relaxed against the pillows, Y/N knew his childhood wasn’t easy, he was forced to mature earlier than other kids.
“So one night I was terrified and went to sleep with my Mum and she told me it was my toys playing.”
“And she told you how did she know?”
“No, she didn’t.”
And both kids went on to ask a million more questions about their grandma, a loving figure they never got the chance to meet. To Tommy this meant much more than he could put into words, he went on to describe her features, mannerisms and and few secrets, so his kids could feel her close to them in some way.
He didn’t know, but through them and their curiosity, he was healing a part of his broken heart by remembering the good moments, her legacy.
Y/N could see the way their imagination was running wild trying to put a face for such mysterious woman, trying to think of what was like to be on road forever stuck in a caravan as they said, asking how she could ride bareback a horse without falling.
Tommy rarely talked about his mother, it had always been something that was buried deep inside his heart, a very sensitive topic, Y/N knew how much it had hurt him to lose her at such young age. Not having her when he needed her the most definitely left a permanent scar in his heart. Y/N wondered how different would Tommy be under another circumstances.
And by the way he described his mother, Y/N realized he looked so much like her instead of his father, which given the circumstances, was a blessing. Although, thanks to Polly who took the role as a mother figure for the Shelby siblings, they had managed much better than if Arthur Sr. was in charge.
“Why can’t we play with them?” Asked Ruby with a deep frown.
“Because after playing with you all day, they get to work by playing, the soldier gotta watch out the fort right?” He stared at Charlie. “And your doll has to drink some more tea, ey.”
Then, a gentle smile played on his lips.
“So you gotta go to sleep to let them play, so they can enjoy their own time.”
“That’s why I heard noises.” Charlie seemed to think about it for a second.
“Yeah.” Tommy winked at them.
“But my teddy stays with me all night.” Ruby stated.
“Hmm he’s gotta take care of you.”
“Can we stay here? So they can play?” Charlie’s eyes sparkled.
Y/N nodded feeling touched by the way Tommy managed to help Charlie leave his fears behind. Loving the way his innocent mind was processing everything.
“Of course, now just let’s all squeeze in together.”Tommy proposed. Feeling Y/N’s hand touching his hand, he looked up at her.
Soon both kids were fast asleep. The story about their toys playing and making noises was the explanation they needed to hear, to feel Tommy’s reassurance.
Y/N observed her husband taking off his clothes, hiding the gun in a drawer and coming back to bed. Thinking how of course not everything is as it should be, and the kids would realize of the truth one day
but she was more than happy to enjoy that little moment in their own little bubble while it lasted.
“That was beautiful.”
He nodded in agreement. He rarely allowed himself to have moments like these, but he felt the need to open his heart with his own happy memory with his mother, gone too soon. She had missed a lot of important events in his life that he was determined to try to be there for his children.
And at least, he could honor her memory by sharing some stories like the one where the toys start playing after midnight.
Turning off the lights of their bedside tables, Tommy drifted to sleep right away and saw the image of his mother wrapping her arms around a younger version of himself protectively, answering all the questions he had about how could his horse toy could not move during the day, or how would drink water if the river was so far away
and he saw her in his dreams smiling adoringly at him before kissing the top of his head.

hi maggie đŸ„°
70 for the 100 kiss prompts please!!
Hi Nolan đŸ„°
I loved this one! Hope you like it darling 💕
Kiss Me Once Cause You Know I Had A Long Night 30/?
70. An accidental kiss that confuses you both, but only a moment passes before you crash your lips back against each other's
Summary:
“Actions speak louder than words,” Eddie shrugs. “Goodnight,” he smiles, leaning in for a quick kiss.
“Night,” Buck says softly, meeting him in the middle.
Wait a minute.
Eddie pulls back like he's been shocked. And he has. In way more ways than one.
(read below!)
They're sitting on Eddie's couch, talking over some (admittedly dull) action movie Chim recommended, one night they both managed to have free.
Eddie had ended things with Marisol at the makeshift wedding in the hospital, and hasn't been eager to "get back out there." He still doesn't know why he decided then was the best time, but it was for the best. When you spend the entire day wishing you could marry your best friend and not your girlfriend, there's something wrong with the relationship.
Buck and Tommy had decided to stay friends, and the three of them still got together often for fights or a beer, (no basketball. Not again), and Buck hasn't jumped back into dating yet.
And, with Chris being the social butterfly Eddie never was, the kid was at yet another sleepover, leaving Buck and Eddie without any plans.
So, pizza and about three beers later, Buck is deciding whether to stay the night. Something he hasn't done in months. Not since he came to Eddie after the lightning.
“Come on, do you really want to drive home at one in the morning?” Eddie reasons. He pretends his reasons for offering the couch are noble. They're actually
kinda pathetic. Be in love with your best friend and try to keep your dignity, or your sanity.
Buck smiles and sips his beer. “If I didn't know any better I'd say you've missed me.”
I always miss you when you go, Eddie doesn't say. “Oh yeah. I don't know how I manage to sleep without your snoring as a lullaby,” he says instead, tugging on a curl behind Buck's ear.
Buck gently elbows him in the ribs. “If that's your way to convince me
”
“I never said my negotiation techniques were good,” Eddie shrugs.
“They're terrible,” Buck scoffs, earning himself an elbow to the ribs right back. He giggles and ducks his head with a smile, pulling his lower lip between his teeth. “Okay, I'll stay. Wouldn't want you to have to sleep without my snoring as your white noise machine.”
“What do you know? My negotiation techniques worked!” Eddie grins.
Buck rolls his eyes and shoves at his shoulder. “I will never admit it.”
He has no idea what made him do it.
Maybe the box holding his feelings for Buck had finally exploded. Maybe his brain got up the courage without telling him the plan. Maybe it was the easy affection they'd been exchanging recently. Shoulder touches, lingering hugs, knees pressed together in the engine or on the couch.
Maybe it was just Buck.
Either way, Eddie feels like he's been struck by lightning again.
Judging by the wide eyed stare he's getting from Buck, he's at least not alone in his confusion.
“Eds,” Buck whispers, glancing at Eddie's lips.
“I'm sor-”
Buck surges forward, stealing the words from his lips and cupping his cheek. Eddie sighs into the kiss and melts against him, reaching up to card his fingers through soft curls.
Buck grips Eddie's hips, nudging him until he gets the message. Eddie throws a leg over Buck and straddles him, never once breaking their kiss.
He has no idea what's happening. But there's no way he's going to stop it.
Buck slips his hands beneath Eddie's henley, splaying his palms on his ribs as he teases the seam of his lips apart. Eddie makes a soft noise as Buck licks into his mouth. He tangles his fingers in Buck's curls and settles more firmly in his lap.
They kiss until the need for oxygen separates them. Eddie rests his forehead against Buck's. Buck traces nonsensical patterns on Eddie's lower back.
“Guess actions really do speak louder than words,” Buck smirks. Eddie kisses the expression off his face.
“Stay,” Eddie whispers, and it feels right. Asking Marisol to stay always made something sour twist in his gut.
All he feels now is butterflies, giddy and fizzy like champagne.
“That was the plan,” Buck says with a cheeky grin.
“Stay,” Eddie says again, pouring everything it's too soon to say into the word.
I want you, stay. Don't sleep on the couch, stay. I love you, stay.
Buck presses a soft kiss to his lips, just like their first kiss and yet somehow completely different. “Okay. I'll stay. For as long as you want me.”
“Forever,” Eddie whispers before kissing him again.

Not a People Doctor
Pairing: Rhett Abott x Vet!Reader
Fandom: Outer Range
After a bar fight, Rhett shows up at your doorstep.
For the amazing @vivwritesfics and the reason I am now Rhett/ Bob trash! Thank you for the title idea 💕💕
Tumblr media
It's getting late as you settle down in your living room with a hot cup of tea and the latest book you're reading. Your peace is interrupted by a soft knocking at your door. You almost think you've imagined it when the knock comes again, a little louder this time. Grumbling slightly, you set your book aside, hoping it isn't another mare in labour or a horse with colic; you just want a quiet night.
Opening the door, you put on a smile for the paying customer you expect to find, but your smile falls as you see none other than Rhett Abbott, your childhood friend and a frequent customer. He looks dishevelled, blood staining his clothes, and you can already see the bruises and cuts on his face in the dim porch light.
"Jesus, Rhett, what the hell happened to you?" you exclaim, ushering him inside.
He winces as he moves, clearly in pain but not wanting to let on. "Got into a bit of a scuffle at the bar," he mutters, not quite meeting your gaze.
Leading him into your living room, you move the blanket you'd been cuddled under not long ago. "Sit down, let me take a look at you."
He lowers himself onto the sofa. You flip on the light switch to give you a better view of his injuries as you sit on the coffee table opposite him.
"You must've really pissed someone off," you tut as you gently turn his head with your fingers on his chin. You lift his shirt seeing the bruises over his ribs, shaking your head. "We need to get you to a hospital; some of these cuts need stitches. Probably got a broken rib or two as well."
Rhett gives you a shit-eating smile, a smile only he could pull off when his face looks half as bad as it does, and it still makes you weak at the knees. "That's why I came here, thought you were a doctor."
"I'm an animal doctor, not a people doctor," you shake your head in disbelief.
"I can try. I don't have any of the good pain meds, so it's going to hurt like a bitch, and it won't be the prettiest. Gonna have a few more scars to add to the list."
"Never had any complaints from you. You always liked my scars and tattoos."
You smack him lightly on the arm, causing a 'hey' from him in response. Ignoring him, you run to get the first aid kit you keep in your bathroom closet as well as your veterinary kit.
You start to clean his wounds, carefully stitching up the deep cut over his eyebrow. You can't help feeling a pang of concern. Rhett isn't a stranger to bar fights, but seeing him so vulnerable and injured stirs something within you.
"Are you going to tell me what that fight was about?" you ask gently, your voice laced with worry.
Rhett hesitates for a moment before he meets your gaze. "It was dumb. Just some guy mouthing off about things he shouldn't have," he admits, jaw clenching.
You sigh, finishing up and snipping the last of the stitches. "You need to be more careful, Rhett. You're going to get yourself seriously hurt one day."
He nods, his expression sheepish. "I know... I know. I just... I didn't want to go to the hospital."
You place a comforting hand on his cheek, your thumb gently smoothing over his cheekbone. "Well, you're just lucky you've got me, and I happen to know my way around stubborn bull riders, and I'm pretty good at suturing."
A small smile tugs at the corner of his lips. "You have no idea."
Once you've finished cleaning and bandaging the last of the wounds on his face, you sit back, admiring your handiwork. "There... all done," you lean in and place a gentle kiss on the side of his head, "good as new."
Rhett stands up slowly, getting a look in the mirror above your fireplace. "Thanks, sweetheart. I owe you one."
"Don't mention it, I'll just add it to the list. Just promise me you'll be more careful, Rhett. I'm pretty good, but some injuries I can't fix."
He nods, his gaze finally meeting yours. "I promise."
As he makes his way to the door, you can't help but shake the feeling of concern lingering. "Hey, Rhett? You need a place to stay tonight? Probably shouldn't be alone after something like this."
"I don't want to put you out..."
"You're not," you interrupt him.
Rhett's gaze softens, and you can see the gratitude in his eyes. "I... I'd appreciate that. Thank you."
You feel a wave of relief wash over you as you leave him on the couch, running to change your sheets, not wanting him to spend the night on the sofa with his injuries.
"Beds all changed; let's get you some rest. I've got some pain meds and a glass of water up there for you too."
He looks at you, confused as to why you haven’t brought down blankets and pillows, assuming he'd be sleeping on the couch.
You hold out your hand. "Come on, I don't mind. Besides, I'll feel a lot better knowing you're not sleeping on that uncomfortable sofa."
He blinks, confusion evident in his expression. "Are you sure, Y/N? I don't want to intrude."
You give him a look that leaves no room for arguments, and he knows he'd be fighting a losing battle to even try.
With a grateful nod, he takes your hand, helping pull himself to his feet before he follows you up the stairs. You pull back the covers, helping him slip under the blankets before joining him. As you both lie there, you couldn’t help but love the feeling of the warmth of his body beside you. You love it even more as he wraps an arm around your waist, whispering a thank you into the crook of your neck.

OKAY I know Leraye's event in WHB is over but it has been ceaselessly rattling around in my brain for DAYS and I NEED to scream.
We get some funny moments with Leraye finding a snake and a pen and hurling a meteor into the forest trying to use magic to summon clouds for thunder but the MEAT of the story is about an angelic invasion that has Satan and Sitri and the other nobles battle-royaling.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We've been bamboozled, Holmes!
Tumblr media
Help them Leraye, you're their only hope! no, literally
So my boy becomes a one-man gatling gun, head-shotting angels from a positively ridiculous distance to try and single-handedly save the suburbs of Gehenna from becoming a stomping ground.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm too scared to know if this is something that could legitimately happen from shooting a gun for too long my boy really said 'for the cause!' đŸ„č and with some suspension of reality you totally forget that he's wiped out thousands of angels without running out of ammo UNTIL HE DOES
Tumblr media
the way I was HOLLERING you don't even know
Tumblr media
Baby boy broke his own horn to use for ammo and yes I was crying đŸ˜« but he DOES IT my boy single-handedly takes out the entire army but he doesn't even get to chill because THIS BITCH
Tumblr media
Your hair is ugly and your bow looks stupid đŸ˜€
Tumblr media Tumblr media
lmaooo fried like a Marie Calendar pie! Anyway turns out Leraye loves storms so much because lighting saved him from being split open like a piece of fruit by Michelleel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I need y'all to know that I audibly gasped 'NO' and threw my phone across the bed BECAUSE at the beginning-ish of Leraye's battle there's this:
Tumblr media
I was FUMING like do you mean to tell me Stolas was there the whole time and he didn't help?? Bruh??? Ex-fuckin-scuse me???? STOLAS SLANDER MY BOY IS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR A FIGHT.
So then it jumps back to like, present day, where Paimon is chilling in the pub with Naberius and Stolas after finding them in Gehenna in the rain while he's waiting for Leraye to come meet him.
Tumblr media
Not me going huh? wuh?? cause like WHAT DID STOLAS EVEN DO??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tsundere baby lmao
OKAY so then it jumps back to after the battle. Michelleel has been fried like a forgotten pizza and Leraye has collapsed and Sitri has finally come running. He heaves Leraye onto his back and RUNS to town because Leraye is only looking a little better than swiss cheese and uh kinda needs some patching and during the course of this run Leraye happens to notice something as only he can because this man has the keenest eyes God has ever made.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and would have easily overrun Gehenna, yes.
But wait! There's more!
Tumblr media
You did good, my dude.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WAIT WHAT.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
lkjfreoifjrslkfslj STOLAS BABY I'M SO SORRY I EVER DOUBTED YOU I KNEW YOU WERE A GOOD EGG 😭💕
Tumblr media
So Leraye knew the whooole time that Stolas helped him hold off the invasion of Gehenna all those years ago and he's aways wanted to thank him for it I'm SOBBING.
Anyway, best event period because it featured my two faves interacting in a way I didn't expect I'll be thinking about it for ages to come.

Who will Adam react?
If you can thank you 💕💕💕
I've got you hun! This is basically the headcanons but I turned em into a story, hope that's fine by you, xoxo/p
Lonely Eyes
pairing: Adam x male!reader
warnings: language, mentions of past abuse, trauma response
note: not beta read bc fuck you I don't have beta readers
Tumblr media
It was quite hard for you to believe he actually loved you the way you loved him - you weren't saying he was lying to you, he was acting too kind for that, but it felt like every second he could see someone hotter than you, someone more attractive than you and leave you for them. Because in God's holy name, why would someone as handsome, someone as cocky date someone like you? You didn't know, there was no way that made it make sense.
You were constantly drowning in thoughts that told you you weren't enough, that he deserved better than you, in hell's seven rings, he couldn't even touch you without you flinching away. No hugs, no cuddles, no casual touches like having him wrap his arm around you. You always flinched away from his touch, no matter how soft it was.
It was a very obvious trauma response from when you had been alive. Your dad had been abusive, the man had hit you whenever he could, if there had been no reason, he had made one up.
Adam knew about that and he understood, well he did to a certain level.
-
“Y/N,” Adam said as he entered the living room, you looked up from the book you were reading, “I wanna talk to you about something.” Oh fuck. That was it. He had finally had enough of your bullshit and was going to break up with you now. “Let’s get this over quickly,” you sighed, sadness washed over your entire body language and Adam frowned in confusion, “What?” You looked up at him, “You wanna shatter my fucking heart and break up with me? Do it quick.” You tossed your book to the side and got up from the couch. It had only been a matter of time after all, better sooner than later, it would make the pain more bearable.
“The fuck are you talking about, babes? No one's gonna break up with your fucking ass,” the brunette stated as he walked over to you. His hands slowly came up to cup your face but he stopped right before touching your warm skin, he wanted your approval. You slowly leaned into his big palm and smiled a little when his thumb caressed your cheek. “No?” you asked, completely drowning in this sweet sensation, “Are you sure?” Adam looked baffled, then responded, “Am I sure? Am I sure? Babes,” he moved your head a little which caused you to open your eyes and look at him, “I’ve never been more sure about anything in my fucking life. I fucking love your ass, babes, ain't no way I'm giving you up.” Words of affirmation seemed like a lie to you, well they usually did. But with Adam? He seemed to be honest about it and while you still didn't understand how he could love someone like you, you chose to enjoy his company, love and affection for as long as he intended to stay. It was simply the best thing you could do.
“So the thing I wanted to talk about,” the first man brought up the original topic that conversation was supposed to be about, “What would you say if I told you that I got us a table in that fancy ass restaurant you like so much?”
Your eyes beamed at him.

UA.
It was the top hero school in all of Japan, and thanks to people like All Might, known in high regard nationally.
So, when you got your call back that you got accepted as the history teacher, you actually screamed. Literally jumping up and down, screaming and crying in pure, unfiltered happiness that you got the job. Of course, you opened your phone to tell someone, anyone, that you got your literal dream job, but you stopped. It's not that you didn't have anyone to tell, it's just that you didn't have anyone who wasn't your family to tell. For a second, it saddened you, but you didn't wallow in your sadness, no! Right then and there, you promised yourself that you'd befriend everyone you could at UA, even the terrifying principle.
So that's how you got here, holding the biggest plate filled with snacks from peanuts to cake while nervously walking into the conference room.
Principal Nedzu had given you a personal tour of the school after he called you, but you had personally never met the other staff members. You can't help but think your principal did that on purpose. After wandering for a short moment, you were still new so you deserved some slack, you found your destination. But something held you back, standing awkwardly in front of the door. You could hear the muffled voices and music coming from the room, its friendly aura spilling out from the hallway.
You were only a little nervous, years of being a high-ranking pro instilled a natural confidence in you, but the small thought of not making any friends slightly unnerved you. Well, better get on with it. You took a deep breath and opened the door, and while the music didn't stop, you felt like it did.
All eyes were on you in an instant, the chatter ceased and everyone turned to look at you.
After a pregnant pause, you spoke up first. "This...is the staff party, right?" Your voice came out squeaker than you wanted to, and the answer to your question seemed rather obvious.
"Yeah it is! You must be the newbie, right?" Present Mic was the first to speak up, his smile wide and infectious. Others giggled around them, all the attention on you was less negative and more positive, a newfound excitement in the air.
"Yes, I'm unfortunately the newbie. Can I set this down anywhere?" You lifted up your large platter of food, and the loud blonde practically drooled.
"I'll take that from you." He swiftly took the food out of your hands and started digging in while trying to find a place to set it down.
Midnight strolled up to you, a small smile on her face. "I'm Nemuri Kayama. Don't worry, you're not the only new staff member this year. Not only do we have All Might, but we have Toshinori Yagi too. Yagis kinda shy, he's just been kinda hanging out in the back." Kayama nodded her head to the far right corner, where the aforementioned man was just...standing alone, almost literally in the corner.
"Oh, well, that makes me feel a little better." You hid your guilty smile with your hands, not only were you glad that you weren't the only new staff member, but that you weren't the most awkward one in the room.
"Plus, it's great to have another girl on the team, it's a real sausage fest in here." She groaned, dramatically holding her head in her hand. Looking around, you realized she was right. There was a 1:9 female-to-male ratio. The male staff members greatly outnumbered the female to an embarrassing degree, but it made sense. Males unfairly dominated the hero field, and even if there was a strong female pro hero, more often than not, she was either treated as a joke or made to be crazy masculine. Not that there was anything wrong with that, but more often than not, it's not by choice, since to be taken seriously, they have to act meaner and tougher than originally wanted.
"I see what you mean, Jesus." There was a playful tone in your voice, showing no real contempt or malice.
"I'm the modern art history teacher, by the way, in case you didn't know." Kayama fully introduced herself, holding out her hand for you to shake. You gratefully took it, marveling at just how soft her hand was.
"Oh! I'll be the new history teacher, guess we're kind of twins. And I'm sorry to fangirl, but I really appreciate all your work." You gushed unashamed.
"Oh I don't mind, I also really appreciate your work! Your quirk is rather interesting, and the way you handle yourself out there is nothing to scoff at." Kayama smiled, giving you the same energy as you put out.
You blushed, compliments like that were not unusual but from one of your idols, no less? It was like a dream come true.
"Thank you, it just comes naturally, you know?" You tried to wave her off, basically saying it's nothing compared to you.
Your quirk was rather unconventional in what it was. You could manipulate the light around you, bending and manipulating the light waves and atoms. You could literally touch rays of light and bend it like a straw, plus you could take it away and 'store it' in your body. It was funny when you took too much because you became a living nightlight. Though to do it, you needed to be physically touching the rays, so you wore a rather lightweight suit with no gloves and no shoes. Hey, who needs to walk on water when you could walk on light?
Your suit was rather skimpy, maybe a reason that both you and Kayama attracted each other. You basically wore a swimsuit, with a crop top shirt that stopped at your shoulders, and basically boy short underwear for a bottom. However, you could barely see your 'pants' because of the pockets that lined the entire thing. Another cool thing you could do with your quirk is you could store the light in physical pockets that you had.
"Well, I'd only assume. I'm glad that someone like you is on the team, and I'm sure I'm not the only one." Kayama looked over your shoulder, and just as you were about to turn to where she was looking, strong arms almost tipped you over.
"Heya newbie!" A light and bubbly voice yelled in your ear, you could only wonder who it was. Peeking over, Present Mic was smiling in your face, spikey hair and sunglasses almost directly in your face. "I'm Hizashi Yamada, and I don't really care for formalities, so you can just call me Hizashi!" He pushed himself off of you and was pumping up his arms in the air. Hizashi still had some crumbs on his face, and you couldn't help but laugh at his outlandish introduction.
Soon after him, one by one each staff member introduced themselves formally, telling you their real names and what they teach. In turn, you gushed and fawned over each one, calm but bright energy attracting everyone to you. Like moths to a light. Heh, get it?
Still, it was great. Even the shy Yagi comes up to you to politely introduce himself, an unspoken bond formed because it was both your first year teaching.
All but one.
A grumpy sleeping bag resting below an open window pointedly ignored all the noise and commotion going on. Determined, you walked over and leaned over the yellow lump to see if a person was even in there.
"Yes?" A dark voice drawled, and in an anti-climatic movement, the sleeping back slowly turned over. You were greeted with the image of a man in his late 20s or early 30s, with dark wild hair and a patchy 5 o'clock shadow. You nearly jumped back, but you kept your composure. You leaned over with your hands on your hips, your stomach pudging at the position.
"I was just checking if you were a person." A heavy cough behind you made you flinch, "If you were a living creature." You could hear a small 'better!' from somewhere in the background. You could swear there was a flash of a smirk on the mysterious man's face. But just as soon as it was there, it was gone in an instant.
"Well, I'm alive if that's what you're wondering." He quickly turned over, but you didn't move away. In fact, you stayed in the same exact position. "What?" His muffled voice made you giggle, and you stood up to stretch your back.
"I don't know your name. I can introduce myself first if you want?" You offered, trying not to seem as stand-offish as he was.
"I'm Ereaserhead. A homeroom teacher." That was all he offered of himself.
Hizashi popped up from behind you, pulling you away from the grump. "That's Shouta Aizawa, don't mind him, he's always this cranky."
You smiled and shook your head, "I don't mind, he seems interesting." Shrugging your shoulders as you walked away, you missed the rustling of his sleeping bag as he turned to watch you walk away.

Turns out, Shouta Aizawa was interesting. Also, a major asshole, give or take.
All the teachers were stationed to watch different cameras for the entrance exam. Of course, there were hundreds of other workers with designated cameras and areas, the teachers were mostly there to get an overview and get a general of the upcoming class of students. You and Hizashi happily discussed what students you both wanted, Aizawa was muttering on how reckless and idiotic they all were.
"Hey c'mon dude, give them a break! Most of them don't even know what they're doing." You tried, leaning back in your rolly chair to take a peek at him. Aizawa barely spared you a glance, angrily sipping at his coffee.
"That's the problem, they're clueless and delusional. Especially that one, he's an idiot for going after the zero-point robot, and it's the only robot he's gone after." He pointed to a glowing student flying up in the air, the boy reeled his arm back to deliver a K.O punch to the thing.
"Hey, but he'll get points for saving a young girl." Hizashi butted in, normally spiked hair down and flowing all over the place.
"Really?" You turned back to the screen to watch a young girl get up to try and thank him, but he was out cold. "Well, even if he is a little clueless, he showed great effort and quick thinking to save a girl." You shrugged, looking back at Aizawa.
He scoffed and turned back to flickering through the cameras, taking notes along the way.
You made a face behind the underground heroes' back, before going back to take your own notes.
Later, Aizawa would review the footage of that mysterious green-haired boy to watch just how 'heroic' he was.
___________________________________________
Not soon enough, classes started. You met lots of odd and interesting students, their quirks just as amazing as the next. Each of them was either fascinated or bored with your existence, gushing about the former 30th hero. Teachers and underground heroes were placed on a different scale than billboard heroes since there wouldn't be a fair grading process. Not only did they gush about you, but they also talked about with great vigor their other classes and teachers.
This meant you quickly made aware of how Aizawa decided to conduct his first day as a teacher. Now, you knew Aizawa had been a teacher longer than you, and UA was very free with how a teacher conducted their class, but you were shocked he threatened to expel an entire class of students. His own for god sake!
(Un)Fortunately, both you and Aizawa had a free period at the same time, and you tried to take advantage of this fact.
"Sooo, some of our students talked about their first day." You started awkwardly, fiddling with your papers.
Aizawa looked over at you through a jelly packet and papers, nearly quirking an eyebrow in response.
"Did you really threaten to expel them?" You asked, a little taken aback at the mere mention of it.
"Yes, not only did I see how they performed under duress, but I saw what giving their all looks like." The whole time he spoke he was entirely focused on the papers in front of him, trying to grade the papers he already handed out the first week of school.
"Oh! That's smart, not only can you weed out all the lackluster students, you'll be able to tell when they're slacking." You snapped your fingers in recognition, proud of yourself for figuring out his odd teaching methods.
Aizawa merely grunted in response, ending the conversation with an odd air. You tapped your knees while trying to find another conversation opener.
"Hey, you know, Kayama invited us all for drinks on Friday. Celebrate the new school year, are you coming?" Truly, you did wonder if the mysterious man would go. The R-rated hero made a group chat and already asked everyone. Aizawa had just never responded, and you kinda had a feeling what his answer would be.
"I have better things to do." He grumbled, and he stood up, gathered all his papers, and just left.
"What the hell?"
___________________________________________
Turns out, no he didn't.
You had turned up fashionably late, and almost all of the staff were already there when you arrived. Shouta showed up disastrously late, stumbling in sometime after you. He slid into the booth across from you, flagging down a waiter for just a boring beer.
"I thought you had better things to do?" You questioned Aizawa, sipping at whatever fruity drink Hizashi made you try.
"I did, but those two wouldn't stop pestering me." Aizawa nodded to Kayama and Hizashi next to you, who were already buzzed and very happy.
Even at the mere mention of him, Hizashi perked up and grinned mischievously at Aizawa.
"That's not true! You just wanted to find an excuse to hang out with the new teacher!" Hizashi teased, eyebrows wiggling up and down.
Aizawa scoffed, "
"I don’t need to kiss ass with my coworkers. I’m only here to be kept in the loop of the going on here.” He muttered into his cup, face hidden by the large utensil.
Okay, wow, rude much? You rolled your eyes, “You don’t need to be an ass.” You muttered under your breath, more to yourself than anything.
“No, but I do need to be professional.” Aizawa shot back, face now in full view. He had his hair up, fringe not held down by his messy bun.
Your shoulders slouched while you gave him a ‘dude what?” look. “I've been nothing but cordial to you and others.”
“Your carefree attitude is nothing other than annoying.” Aizawa had his arms crossed now, leaning back in the booth. Everyone else was either pointedly ignoring you or just too wrapped up in their conversations to notice or care about you two.
“I've been in the top fifty before I became a teacher, I’ve seen my fair share of blood and glory. I’m sorry I’m not a robot when it comes to my students.” Scoffing, you rolled your eyes and downed the rest of your drink, its sweet flavor dampening your bad mood.
“I’m a realist, bite me.”
“You’re a pessimist, there is a difference.”
There was a heavy silence after that, Aizawa staring you down while you glared back. Neither of you broke eye contact, even when Hizashi made you get up to use the restroom, you still didn’t quit the staredown.
Fed up with the growing anger in your chest, and feeling the light around you start to bend around you, you slammed down what you owed and left.
You heard a drunk chasting voice as you left, but the steam pouring out of your ears prevented you from hearing it clearly.
___________________________________________
The last time you two talked was just as short and snappy as the last time, except now he was definitely on his high horse. He criticized your teaching methods, which pissed you off to no end because it was fucking Shouta Aizawa we were talking about, criticized how you acted, hell, he even criticized how you dressed.
You had been minding your business, making a new pot of coffee to keep you awake during the day. Footsteps behind you caught your attention, but you ignored them because you knew who it was and would rather die than deal with him right now.
“I still don’t understand how they let you walk around like that.”
Okay, ignoring over.
You turned to give him a nasty look. “Like what?”
“With barely any clothes on. What you’re wearing could be considered underwear, not a hero suit. There's no coverage.” Even though he was critiquing what you were wearing, he wasn’t looking at you. Instead, he was digging in the cabinets for a cup.
“And? This is what works best for my quirk, plus,” you laughed, but there was no real humor in it, “I’ve seen worse.”
“I have no idea how you’ve made it this far with such little clothing.” Aizawa shook his head like he was disappointed in you for your clothes.
“Because clothes don’t matter, it’s who's wearing them that does.” You growled, angrily pouring your cup before stomping out of the room.
That was the last conversation you had before he went off to the USJ trip. Like always it was short and angry, a routine you’d unwillingly created. Truly, Aizawa was the only teacher you didn’t get along with, all the others from Hizashi to even Lunch Rush you had become friends with. Still, now you felt guilty about it. You had arrived late in regards to everyone else, blinding and emancipating a fair amount of stranglers but otherwise caught off guard by the situation. Thankfully, students were mostly unharmed, but the two teachers who had been there had been gravely injured. You only saw a glimpse of Aizawa's injuries, but your mind jumped to conclusions when you saw Kurose’s.
You had visited Kurose earlier, giving her flowers, candy, and books to read while she recovered. For Aizawa, you managed to find out he liked black licorice, so you brought a large bag along with yellow roses. Friendship.
You arrived at his room and stood there for a moment. There was silence on the other end, save for the small and quiet beep beep beep of his heart monitor. So he lives.
You raised a hand and knocked.
“No more visitors.” He sighed from the other end, already annoyed.
You debated on just leaving, but for some reason, you opened the door and peeked in.
“It’s just me.” Your voice was small, and your eyes quickly assessed the state your asshole coworker was in.
“I said no visitors.” Aizawa's voice was just as deadpanned, and even though you couldn’t see his face, you knew he was scowling under all those bandages. His arms were cast, almost like prison cuffs rather than healing objects. Nearly his whole body was covered in white, almost blinding you.
“Well, I’m not a visitor, I’m a coworker.” You set down the flowers and candy at the table next to him and sat down in the chair across from him. Disgustingly, there was still warmth in it, and looking over to the second chair you could see the wrinkles in the seat.
“You’re an annoyance.” His bitterness came naturally, you realized now, that even when he was gravely hurt, he still managed to get under your skin.
"Is it so annoying that I wanted to see if my coworker was alive?" You asked, already pissed off.
"Well, I am, so you can leave." Aizawa tried to sit up fully, but he struggled to do so.
It was too awkward to just watch him struggle so pitifully, a man you've come to know with high pride and honor squirming around. So you got up and pressed a gentle hand on his back to guide him up, neither of you said anything while he adjusted. When Aizawa got comfortably situated, there was an awkward silence.
"How
how long are you gonna be bed-bound?"
Aizawa didn't reply right away, leaving the question to awkwardly hang in the air.
"Doctor says it typically takes twelve weeks for an arm to heal, but they can cut that time in half." His gruff voice was soft, and it was the most open thing he's said about himself since you've known him.
"I hope it doesn't take that long! I have to give up my lunch to watch your class." You tried to jest, obviously attempting to lighten the mood.
"It won't, wouldn't want you to overload your work schedule." Aizawa's deep voice was back, just as guarded as usual.
That was the breaking point, and before you said something cruel to the injured man you simply got up and headed to the door. "Just get well man." And with that, you left.
"Damn it."
___________________________________________
He came back the next day.
"What the hell man?!" You barged into Aizawa's room angrily, greeted by the sight of Hizashi force-feeding him some sort of hearty meal.
Aizawa turned to look at you, eyes visible through the bandages.
"What?"
"You're back? You said that the doctors said-"
"It would take him a minimum of six weeks to heal! We know!" Hizashi scolded, tense and angry.
"But no one can stop Aizawa, we just have to make him relax." Kayama scolded, going through his class papers. "I'll grade your quizzes, Hizashi can grade your tests and you can grade his assignments, can't you?" The dominatrix was looking at you now, holding stacks of papers that Aizawa had yet to catch up on, now made impossible with his injuries.
"How does a single man have so much work?" You set the tea you had been saving for the aforementioned man. You had barely made it this morning, something healthy to sip on while he healed. Quickly walking over you leafed through all the miscellaneous assignments both he and All Might had assigned. “I can do all of these no sweat.” You shrugged, taking them all under your arm.
“I’m fine. You’re all overreacting-”
“Don’t even say you’re fine! You just got out of the hospital!” All three of you yelled at him in disbelief. The sliding doors slid open once more, and Recoverys girl's small form waddled through, looking just angry and as disappointing as you all felt.
Wanting to get a jumpstart on grading papers, since you already had your won to grade, you walked out of the room in silence, not wanting to intrude on this unfamiliar song and dance.
___________________________________________
The next two weeks the students were buzzing with excitement, and you saw even less of Aizawa. Always just holed up in his room.
For some reason, you always left him a pot of coffee for him to drink on his desk. He never questioned it or brought it up. You never said anything either.
___________________________________________
When Aizawa fully recovered, he immediately took back all his work. He stopped by your classroom during both of your lunches.
You hadn’t even noticed him walking in, too busy with eating and marking papers with a glitter purple pen, leaving critiques, praises, hearts, and X’s
“You can stop ruining my papers with that horrible pen.” You jumped, almost falling back in your seat at the unexpected sound of Aizawa’s voice.
“Ruining? I’m decorating. I’m sorry you take even grading so seriously.” You shrugged, putting the finishing touches on Shouto Todoroki’s paper. Ending it with a ‘Good job! :D’
“It’s a distraction, you could use the effort you put in desecrating these papers into your job.” He took the paper up from your desk, skimming it before he looked at you again and sighed. “Where are the leftovers.”
“Leftovers?”
“The ones you didn’t finish, the leftovers.” He pressed like you were stupid.
You leaned back, a sense of pride and smugness filling you. “Check the date.” You smirked, eyes sharp and dangerous.
Aizawa stared at you with an unreadable expression, but you saw his eyebrows furrow just a little. He took a glance down and his eyes widened in surprise.
2XXX/5/06
Today.
“Well, then you better catch up on your own work. It’s foolish that you-”
You cut him off by showing your turn-in/graded basket, the graded side completely full.
“Try again.” Your smirk widened, hands raising in a flourish while you leaned back again.
He said nothing while his eyes flickered between all the papers in front of him, and he lifted his head again. “Then you’re probably behind on reports, those are important-”
You cut him off again, turning your computer towards him so he could see not only your completed progress reports but his as well.
“Boom bitch.” For once, you had the upper hand, getting to gloat in his face while he had nothing to say back.
“You shouldn’t use such foul language in the workplace.” Was all he could say while he gathered his papers. On his way out you called out to no one in particular.
“You’re welcome! Ah, whatever.”
You stretched your aching hands, and drank your third energy drink for the day, stomach protesting from so much caffeine on an empty stomach. You dreaded your hero shift later.
___________________________________________
There was an impromptu meeting, and at first, you were confused about what it was about, but you knew whatever it was, it was serious.
Everyone's somber faces made you nervous, and you leaned over to Hizashi and whispered in his ear. “What happened?”
“Apparently, something happened during the students' work studies, but no one can figure out what happened.” He shrugged, just as lost and unnerved you.
Aizawa stood up from the U-shaped table, going to stand in the middle while he looked off angry at nothing. “There was an incident during our first-year students' work studies. Three studies were put in harms way, coming face to face with the hero killer: Stain.”
People started to murmur, but Principal Nedzu popped up from the depths of the erasing hero's scarf.
“Now we understand your concern, as you know the situation has been dealt with. We’ve been asked by the HPSC to keep quiet and have no comment. The affected students will remain anonymous, so even if you do figure out what happened, you are required to keep quiet. You are all dismissed.” The hyperintelligent mouse hopped down and sauntered out of the room. Many staff members followed, murmuring in small groups. You, Kayama, Kurose, Hizashi, and Snipe formed your own group, staying behind to talk within yourselves.
“I knew it was a bad idea for the students to be sent off, I argued with the idea before, and now I see I should’ve fought harder.” Snipe shook his head in both frustration and disappointment.
“Well, what happened was unfortunate, but it gave other students a light into real hero work. Hard times come with drastic measures.” Kayama rebutted, though one could tell to some degree she agreed with the gun hero.
“But they’re so young, such traumatizing events should be saved for their later years.” Yamda’s voice was laced with an old sadness, and Kayama’s face fell crestfallen.
“I agree, I hope those students are well now.” You began, but the conversation was cut short by the sound of everyone's next period beginning. You waved your little group goodbye, turning around to pick up your bag and papers.
“Gossiping is unbecoming.”
You shook your head, annoyance once again festering at you. It seemed like even when you heard his voice at this point, anger consumed you. “So is lying.”
“Who lied?” Aizawa’s voice was full of disbelief, taken aback.
“The HPSC. We’re supposed to be quiet that three of our students were put in danger.” You turned around once all your papers were gathered, and you stared the man down.
“That’s not lying, we are merely setting measures to make sure the situation doesn’t get out of hand.” He shook his head like the answer was simple.
“Omitting information is lying under the law, do their parents know?”
“The affected students' parents were made aware, yes.” His monotone voice was really starting to piss you off.
“So none of the other parents know? And to what degree do they know?” For some reason you dragged out this conversation, it didn’t really matter how long this conversation went on anyway, thanks to the free period.
“That’s not your place to know.” He made no move to leave.
“It is, they’re my students too.” Taking a step forward, encroaching into his personal space, you puffed up your chest. Challenging him.
“You’re an elective teacher, they’re my students, under my care.” Aizawa didn’t back down.
“So then why did it even happen in the first place? Why send out fifteen-year-olds with a murderer on the loose?” You argued back.
“Because I didn’t know. I would’ve never let them out if I had known. Your foolishness will be the death of not only you but the students here as well.” He snapped back, violently grabbing his coffee cup, and stormed out.
His words rang over and over in your ears, and for some reason shame and anger mixed in your stomach, twisting at your insides. Stomping out of the room when you snapped out of your trance, you realized guilt also twisted up inside you.
___________________________________________
Last minute, you were invited to the training camp. At first, you were going to refuse, spend your summer break dealing with the chaotic kids that were class 1-A and 1-B? Yeah, hell no. But the promise of a pay raise eventually won you over, even if you deny this. Plus, recently you have been..lacking in your skills. So busy with being a teacher your fighting skills had diminished, and it wasn’t as if you were now suddenly helpless. You just weren’t at your peak anymore, and all you needed was that extra exercise to put that pep back in your step. So thats how you found yourself packing in the early hours of the morning to pack for the four-week-long trip.
Later in the morning, you found out who you’d be busing with. Class 1-A, or, more specifically, Shouta Aizawa. You immediately turned around at the school gates, but the sounds of students jeering at you stopped you.
“Where are you going teach?” Kaminari called after you, and Iida chastised him for the informal name.
“It’s alright Iida, I don't mind.” You placated the blue-haired boy and turned your attention back to the electric student. “Nowhere, I got roped along to the trip.” You sighed bowing your head in defeat.
“Don’t act that way, we were promised extra pay and you were the first to respond.” Aizawa chastised you, coming up from behind you all, carrying a heavy duffle bag. Even his choice of luggage was bare bones!
Kaminari gasped in hurt, holding a hand over his heart.
“No need to call me out in front of the students!” You growled, shooing him away.
___________________________________________
It took nearly an hour to corral all the students on the bus, and you and Aizawa settled at the front of the bus, both in opposite seats. You waited for the bus to get on the road, and for the students to be too distracted to notice the conversation between you and your unspoken hater to bring up a thought that started to nag you.
“Aizawa.” You were facing him, and the dark-haired man simply side-eyed you instead of acknowledging you. You ignored that. “Why am I the only elective teacher here, wouldn’t it make more sense to bring someone like Hizashi or Anan’s or even Ryo? They’re all much better equipped to be here than me.” Genuinely, this had confused you. No diss to Hound Dog, or Ryo as you’d grown to know him the past couple of months, the stress on his name was that he’d be the absolute best option here. Out in an open area where a multitude of students could get lost? Why not bring the literal hound dog?
“You’ve gotten pretty friendly with the staff.” That was his response, a non-answer, and a deflection.
“Dude, seriously? That’s what you’re hung up about? Yes, I see and communicate with them every day, and we all go out for drinks once every week. I’m pretty sure all the teachers are on a first-name basis personally except for you.” Shooting back, your hands now rested on your knees, hunched over in a defensive position.
“It’s unprofessional. Teachers shouldn’t know each other on such a personal basis.” Aizawa closed his eyes again, trying to nap his way out of the conversation.
You flung your hands up, “You’re right, god forbid I have friends.” Unwillingly, your voice got tight with emotion.
Aizawa opened his eyes fully, and faced you fully, also registering the vulnerability that was presenting in your voice and demeanor.
Even though it’s only been four months, you have grown close with your UA allies. Not only that, but they all welcomed you with open arms and held you in the same regard as you did them. You had especially grown close with Snipe, even if he didn’t tell you his name (or anyone for that matter, you tried looking it up and found articles of his secrecy, mans loves his privacy), along with Anan after USJ, and naturally gravitated towards Hizashi and other elective teachers. The reason you felt so offended by his words, why you got so close with your fellow staff was because you didn’t have other friends. You barely had a family, it was just your dad and estranged siblings, who either didn’t speak to you or didn’t really care for you.
“I just meant you shouldn’t rely so heavily on others, they won’t always be there to save you.” That was reaching, even for Aizawa.
“I don’t, and I know they won’t. You’ve made that so clear.” You swallowed thickly, a burning feeling crawling up your throat signaled you needed to shut up now or else they would be waterworks. And that would be embarrassing for everyone. Sometimes it kept you up at night that Aizawa was the only teacher you didn’t get along with. The others reassured you that he was aloof with everyone, Hizashi and Kayama just saying he was a big hardass with a big heart. But you just didn’t see it, it seemed like he was just mean to you. With people like Ryo and Anan, he was just quiet and cutthroat, but you? Just straight-up mean, brushing you off, undermining you, constantly nagging and criticizing you for everything that you did. It was annoying and frustrating since you had been nothing but nice. You genuinely wanted to be his friend, his mysterious nature and gruff attitude was cool, badass even. Plus, you couldn’t deny he wasn’t unattractive, stubble and dark hair was just so handsome. But his behavior was not. Still, you couldn’t help but seek out ways to try and get on his good side, making coffee, leaving snacks you’d found out he liked out, and taking his side whenever you could in meetings.
You didn’t bring it up again, spending the rest of the ride blinking back angry tears, or maybe it was the disappointment that he didn’t reassure you. Either way, he didn’t say anything either.
___________________________________________
Well fuck. Now you were mad at the school for trying to make the students grow up so fast, figuring out the training camp was usually only for second years due to the rigorous nature, soured your mood further. Not only that, you worried about all the children alone in the woods.
“They’ll be fine.” Aizawa placed a strong hand on your shoulder, and while it made your heart jump, it also pissed you off more.
“It’s a pretty big fuckin forest, what if they get lost or something not part of the exercise attacks them?” You stepped forward, trying to peek at the mess below you.
“They’ll be fine, they can handle themselves. I have no doubt.” You should trust him, Aizawa was their homeroom teacher and no doubt has seen what they can do, but it still unnerved you that these young kids were just out alone.
“I’ll just watch over them then.” You crouched on top of the messed-up fence and jumped.
You heard Mandaly shout in pure fear behind you, but her voice died as you seemingly climbed and crawled through thin air.
High above you watched their movement, keeping track of every rustle and shout. Lazily swimming in the light, arms, and legs pumping while you focused on slipping through the waves of the light. Your skin softly glowing and your body becoming lighter than air.
Somewhere far away, a dark-haired man realized the reason for such a vulnerable suit was to give you full access to your quirk. Still, you had no protection against sharp talons and dangerous attacks. Maybe, there was a better way?
___________________________________________
You didn’t arrive until late, and you were exhausted and hungry. You had almost fallen out of the air multiple times, your body ached and burned, already feeling the sunburn growing on your fingers and knees, places you used your quirk the most.
You were in the private kitchen, searching for something to eat when Mandalay handed you a plate of food.
“You look beat!”
“I feel like someone dragged me through the mud on a hot summer day.” You sighed, gratefully accepting her food, and flopped down on the plush couches.
“I can imagine. I didn’t know what your quirk was, so you scared me when you just jumped. Thankfully Eraserhead explained it to me.” She sighed, shaking her short brown hair.
That made you perk up, “He did?”
“Yeah! He seemed to know a lot about it! You must be very close. Oh, the teacher's dorms are just down the hall, we have our own spring and private bathrooms.” She dug into her food and scrolled through her phone.
Weird.
___________________________________________
You were so glad you weren’t a student anymore.
They were really putting students through the wringer, making them get up early and push themselves to their absolute limits. You and Aizawa stood side by side while you watched over the students, you took notes and he watched dutifully. Your fingers and knees were stinging like a bitch now, skin peeling off quickly, leaving your skin raw and sensitive.
“Looks like you could use endurance training as well.” Here we go.
“Ha ha.” You rolled your eyes. “They’re only like this because towards the end I had to really look for light, it got dark fast and I had been using my quirk nonstop for eight hours. Let me see you do that.” You didn’t see Aizawa's shocked face, and you had stunned him into silence.
“I couldn’t.”
You looked up, and stared at him in confusion. “Couldn’t what?”
“Use my quirk for that long. I can only use it for thirty minutes to an hour now, even if I strain.” Aizawa shrugged as if that wasn’t absolutely horrifying news.
“Since when?” You abandoned your notes now, giving Aizawa all of your attention.
“After USJ. Doctor said the more I strain, the worse it gets. Plus, my eyes are dryer than before, so it makes it harder to keep them open for so long.” Aizawa wasn’t looking at you, instead opting to stare ahead, facial expression carefully neutral.
“Why didn’t you ever tell me?” Your voice was quiet, and his adams apple bobbed.
“There was no reason to cause unnecessary worry.”
“Still that’s
really fucking shitty. I’m sorry dude.”
Aizawa regretted telling you, not being able to stand that sad, kicked puppy look. Hated the reason being him.
“There’s no reason to cause a fuss, such things happen all the time. You should get used to it.”
“Never mind.” You rolled your eyes, but there was no real bite in your tone. He finally looked at you when you said that, your empathy replaced with slight annoyance.
___________________________________________
The next day was much of the same, with both homeroom teachers pushing and critiquing their classes to do and be better. Aizawa’s speech about being better had warmed your heart, and for the first time since you’d known the closed-off man you saw just how much he cared for his students. All he wanted from them was to grow and be better, he was strict out of love and care. It was beautiful in a weird way, but your moment was broken when Midoriya questioned why they were the only teachers there. When he walked away from the inspired green-haired boy, you stopped him in his tracks.
“Hold on.” You skipped in front of the dark teacher, standing your ground. “If All Might isn’t here to not draw attention, and other staff weren’t invited so as to not leak the location of the new grounds, why am I here?” You questioned, encroaching on his personal space to get him to finally answer you.
“It was thought you’d be a good choice to watch over the students.” Again, deflective and a not good answer. He started to walk away, but you followed closely by his side.
“Okay sure, we’ll go with that. But why me? Again, what about Ryo? Or Ectoplasm? They’re much better for wide search and rescue than I am.” You argued.
“You are also independently efficient, not needing the incentive to work hard. Plus, your relationship with the students is..friendly. You work well with the Pussy Cats with your open nature.” Again, he was pointedly not looking at you.
“It sounds like you asked me to be here.” You started to tease, a sense of pride at the indirect/direct praise.
“You were paid to be here, now are you going to waste my time with pointless questions or are you going to do your job.” Aizawa snapped, and that quickly dampened your mood. Note to self, don't tease Aizawa.
Pixie Bob announced that there would be a test of courage later. You were so-so to the idea, knowing you were probably just going to be hanging out in the hot springs anyway, the dark not really being your strong suit.
___________________________________________
It smelt like shit.
That was the first thought in your head when you stepped outside, seeking fresh air. How weird, 1-B must really be going all out to scare 1-A. You were unfortunately still in your hero suit, only barely getting back to your room. Somewhere in the building, you knew Sekijiro and Aizawa was teaching their remedial class, and outside the Pussy Cats were watching over the courage course. So, lazily you walked to the kitchen, planning on getting a light snack before you took a dip in the hot spring, not being able to yesterday. Suddenly you jumped, a feeling of ice dumping all over you. Everyone! Mandalay’s shrill voice suddenly yelled in your head, you stopped immediately to look up. It’s possible there are more. Everyone who can move, get back to camp immediately! Even if you come across the enemy, retreat and do not engage! You felt the telepath end immediately, and your feet moved faster than your mind. You could hear the echoes of your feet slapping across the tile. Legs pumping and knees screaming in protest as you raced to the entrance.
You had no idea what was happening, but you knew the students were in danger.
The front door came into your sight, and you burst through the doors and were greeted by a horrifying sight. A half-burnt and rotten man blasted Aizawa in a white-hot flame, and on instinct, you tackled him to the ground.
He seemed unbothered by all of this and even chuckled. “You guys really are pros.”
You looked up to where he was looking and saw Aizawa crouching in the doorway above the entrance. Momentarily distracted, you missed the villain's hands coming up. He roughly grabbed the side of your face, digging his hot staples into your hair.
“Nothing's coming out.” He pouted, like a child. Knowing you wouldn't have your quirk either, you flipped him over and grabbed the back of his head. You dug your nails as hard as you could, and reeled back. With all your might, you slammed his face into the ground, shoving it down like a dog who pissed on the carpet.
The man dug his dirty fingernails into the innermost sensitive part of your thigh and dug, his staples ripping into you while you squirmed.
You yelled out, and he used that to his advantage to flip you over. Aizawa quickly came up behind him, swiftly kicking the back of his head to straddle the back of him. Aizawa clutched his head and arm, still using his quirk.
“Tell me your name, purpose, number, and positions.” He growled out.
“Why.” The villain deadpanned.
“Because this-” Aizawa broke his arm in one quick movement, “will happen, your rights next. Let’s do this logically.” He lifted his head up, but his grip and gaze never faltered. “If I get your legs, it’ll be a pain to transport you.”
“Are we in a rush, Eraser,” The man made eye contact when he called out your hero name, and it sent a chill down your spine. The end of his spikey hair caught alight. Aizawa pounded his head in the ground a couple of times to stop him.
Rustling caught both yours and Aizawa's attention, and an out-of-breath Iida, Mineta, Koda, and Ojiro made you panic.
In a moment of weakness, the man lunged forward, but Aizawa quickly caught him. He strained for a moment before he whipped around to stare you both down.
“Hey heroes,” His gaze was manic and crazed. “Are your students important?” Then he started to melt. “I hope you can protect them all till the end.” He disappeared through the ground, his body left a mush.
The group rushed towards you, calling out for both of you.
“Get inside! I’ll be back!” Aizawa took off without you, so you quickly took the porch and hallway light and followed him.
“Wait!” You called out after him, knees still screaming in protest, your fingers now burning with the aftermath of stealing the light.
“What are you doing? You’re better off in the building!” He yelled at you.
“I was a billboard pro before this, I can handle myself!”
“Oh yeah, you really proved that back there. Truly pathetic.” He snarled back, and you ran faster.
“Fuck you! Nothing I do makes you happy!” Your fighting was cut short by Midoriya suddenly appearing, a scared Kota on his back. “Midoriya-”
The boy called out to the both of you, “It’s horrible! There’s so much I need to tell you.” He was out of breath, his arm mangled and red.
“Hey-” Aizawa started, slightly out of breath as well.
“First we need to make Mandalay make an announcement- He has a water quirk, you have to protect him!” Midoriya cut him off, words rushed and slightly panicked.
He’s pumped full of adrenaline. Midoriya needed to calm down.
He tried to run off, but Aizawa stopped him. “Stop! Your arm
you did it again, didn’t you? Did you forget what happened in Hosu?”
Midorya was lost in thought for a moment, and you and Kota stood confused. Your thigh was starting to have its own heartbeat, and you could feel the heat of the injury. You’ve gotten hurt worse, scars on your back a testament to that, but he had gotten a sweet spot in your leg. It was shaky and losing blood at a moderate pace, still, Midoriya, a student, was in a worse state and still pressing on. You’d live through worse and been fine, this would be no different.
“No, but
” The green-haired boy trailed off.
“So tell Mandalay this, everyone in classes A and B, you are granted permission to engage in combat.” With that, all parties took off, Aizawa turning to the woods and Midoryia back to camp. You followed Aizawa dutifully, pockets full of light providing some light in the darkness.
You could tell thoughts were racing in his mind, but the older man kept his thoughts to himself.
Kota's weak voice broke the tense silence. “Mister, will he be okay? I hurt him, and he still got up hurt to rescue me...I haven't even told him sorry or thank you yet.” Tears were now spilling from his wide eyes, and his grip on Aizawa's scarf tightened as big emotions consumed his small body. Before Aizawa could respond, you replied for him, not trusting him to say something to soothe his emotions.
“Of course, Kota, Midoryia is a strong hero, after all of this is done, you can properly apologize. I’m sure he’s forgiven you already.” You gave him your big winning smile, face lighting up in reassurance.
“Still, after this, we’ll have to scold him for acting without permission, so make sure you put emphasis on your thank you.” Aizawa said, running to find a place to keep the young child safe.
___________________________________________
“Where are we going?” You called out to Aizawa, the chaos around you making you nervous.
“To the camp, I need to get Kota to safety.” While he was talking, you all broke out of the woods and rushed into the building. Aizawa gently set the boy down, and you both took a breather. The sounds of yelling caught both of your attention, and you groaned. “We just can’t catch a break, can we?”
Aizawa shot you a glare and ran ahead, you still chasing after him. Rushing into the remedial class you saw that burnt man again, Aizawa jumped ahead to try and calm Sekijiro down and disarm the villain. You rushed ahead while his class cheered for him, and started to do horrid damage on the burnt man, smashing his head so hard into the ground it cracked the tile. Students yelled out horrified, but Aizawa cut them off.
“It won’t matter, it’s a fake.” They all watched in horror as the man melted beneath your fingers, but you didn’t stop punching into the ground, taking all your anger out on the slush.
“Is it a villains quirk.” Iida still hadn’t looked away, curious and slightly disgusted by the mess.
“What are you two doing here?” Sekijiro called out to both you and Aizawa, getting both of your guys attention.
“I rushed out to aid in the fight, but I ended up escorting Kota back to base. Please watch over him.” He was pointedly looking at you now, and it pissed you off. “I’m going to help on the front lines.” He tried to rush out, but Sekijiro stopped him.
“Ereaser, we don't know how many there are or how powerful they’re coming at us.” Aizawa turned around.
“You’ll be fine by yourselves, plus look, the fake was merely a diversion. They’re trying to distract us pros to make up for their meager number.” Aizawa shook his head.
“If there isn't that many of them, that’s even more of a reason for me-” Kirishma butted in, voice full of emotion.
“Yes! Nothing beats strength in numbers!” Iida interrupted, filled with the same determination.
“No.” Aizawa's voice was firm, almost scary at how strong he spoke. “If they’re trying to keep us back, then they’re going after you.” The students deflated at his words. “Bakugo’s just one of them, but there might be others as well. We are still losing by a lot with our lack of information. For now, we’ll win by everyone being safe and sound.” He rushed back out to join the fray, with you not too far behind.
“Why are you still following me? You’re better back there.” Aizawa growled out to you, running through the dark.
“Because I’m a pro. I was accepted to teach at UA for a reason.” You were now frustrated, but now it was hard to tell whether it was because of Aizawa, or because of your fuck up at the beginning. You had been caught off guard by a simple attack, and if it weren’t for Aizawa's erasing quirk, you would have been caught on fire because you got distracted.
“Yeah, I can see that.”
You said nothing in response, any response died on your lips when you saw the leftover disaster that was left.
We lost.
___________________________________________
The damage that was left behind was both humiliating and haunting. Both a student and a pro went missing, one who had left with a considerable amount of injuries. Fifteen students had poison running through their veins, or were injured and had to be taken to immediate care. You were questioned by the police for hours while they desperately tried to figure out any information they could. You were of no help, and you knew that the only information you could give was of that patchwork-face guy with a weird melting/fire quirk.
You, Sekijiro, and Aizawa sat in silence while the police officer made a phone call to god knows who. Your thigh was really starting to hurt now, but you made no move to complain knowing the students had it worse than you.
Sekijiro called out to you, and you snapped out of your thoughts to look at him. “Your thigh, are you alright? You look like you’ve lost a lot of blood.” He pointed to your injury, and you didn’t even look down to check.
“It’s fine, just a scratch.” You shook your head, mind filling with self-deprecating thoughts. Even if you had gotten 30th on the billboards, did you deserve it? Popularity had a lot to do with the point system, and your outwardly friendly attitude along with your flashy quirk made good product revenue. Plus, even if you weren’t weak, you realized that now was the first time you faced a real threat. The symbol of peace always being there to pick up the real messes and leave heroes like you to pick up the crumbs.
“It looks infected already.” He wouldn’t drop it, and you finally gave it to look down.
“I’m fine-” You stopped, your innermost thigh caked in dried blood and dirt, and it looked like the villain really got in there.
Later in the hospital, a nurse who was stitching you up pulled out a staple that was lodged deep in your leg.
___________________________________________
“Stop fussing, you look a mess.”
“Oh I’m sorry that I’m nervous.”
For the past few days, all anyone could talk about was the incident at the camp. It wasn’t as if you could blame them, the most prestigious hero school in the country had landed twenty-seven students in the hospital. In response, all teachers involved along with the principal were asked to make an apology, broadcasted all across Japan. The suit you wore was lightly uncomfortable, a little too tight for your liking. Plus, you were constantly pulling down the skirt, someone had gotten you a size too small. Or maybe you were searching for an excuse to fuss and squirm.
You and Aizawa hadn’t talked about the incident. Not that you needed to, you weren’t a couple, let alone friends, but there was an unknown tension in the air. Sekijiro had checked up on you, and had asked how your leg was.
“It’s fine, just needed stitches and a kiss from Recovery Girl, and now I’m good to go.”
Some part of you was angry that the dark-haired man didn’t reach out to you, but it was fine. It wasn’t but it was.
Aizawa shot you a look, and you quickly shut up. Sekijiro next to you just bumped your knee in reassurance.
“We’re live.” The man in the middle of the room called out, signaling for you all to stand up and speak.
“We deeply apologize for our shortcomings during the incident that allowed harm to twenty-seven first years in the hero course because of our shortcomings. We apologize for creating unease in our society because of our negligence in proper defense in our place of learning.” You all bent over in an apology, and you bowed the deepest. “We are truly sorry for the damage we’ve done.” You all stood back up straight, waiting for questions.
A man spoke out from within the crowd. “Since the beginning of the year, the UA students have had four encounters with villains. What specific countermeasures are you taking to ensure the safety of our students?” His voice was growing in volume the more he spoke, getting more and more passionate as he went on.
“Our students are of top-most importance, we will work even harder as a team to make sure they are strong enough to become great heroes.” A  non-answer, Aizawa really was good at deflecting.
Another man stood up, holding a mic and paper. “During the incident, it appears you encouraged the students to fight. What was your intention behind this?”
Aizawa leaned forward to speak into the mic.
“I concluded that because we were unable to fully grasp the situation, it had to be done to avoid the worst possible outcome.”
“What do you mean, ‘worst possible outcome?’” Damn it, now they were gonna dig and pry and use any answer to get under your guys’ skin to try and get the upper hand. “You don’t call twenty-six victims and one abducted the worst possible outcome?”
“My assumption was that the villains would drive out students to their absolute limit and be killed.” Aizawa replied cooly, but you saw his own hands clench tighter and tighter with every word.
Principle Nedzu spoke up, though he was sitting in his chair with his arms crossed. “The gas attack accounts for most of the injuries. We concluded it was merely a sleeping gas from one of the enemies' quirks’. Thankfully, the quick response of Ms. Kendo and Mr. Tetsutetsue led to no grave injuries in the attack. In addition, mental support is being given to all the students, but at the moment, we see no signs of serious psychological damage done.” His voice was light, and while it wasn’t its usual cheery tone, it was calm and soothing.
“Are you saying this was a bright spot in this tragedy?” The reporter shot back, trying to twist the words of the principal.
“We believed the worst outcome is one that would’ve infringed on the future.”
“Can you say the same for the kidnapped Bakugo? He enrolled in UA High with excellent marks and won first place at the sports festival. In addition, during the incident with the sludge villain in middle school, he resisted the powerful villain alone. He has a history of showing how tough and heroic he is. On the other hand, the violence he showed in the finals and his attitude during the award ceremony shows that he is not always mentally stable. What if the villains kidnapped him because they had an eye on him? Kidnapping him with deceitful words and dying him with the path of evil?” The reporter's long rant was not only pissing you off but your allies as well. The more and more the reporter went on, the more serious he got like he was uncovering some big truth about a fifteen-year-old. “What evidence do you have for saying he has a future?”
Oh hell no. How dare a stranger assume the life of some kid with anger issues? You’ve spent nearly every day with the kid, even if you don’t have him all day you’ve seen a glimpse into Kastuki Bakugo's life. He was emotionally unstable, but he really did have a hero's heart, even if his asshole-ish nature offset that. Aizawa stood up, and you prayed he wouldn’t pop off and snap at the reporter.
Instead, he bowed down and apologized. “As an educator, I take full responsibility for Kastuki Bakugo's violent behavior. However, his actions at the sports festival originate in what he considers ‘ideal strength’. He is trying harder than anyone in his pursuit of becoming the ‘top hero.’” Aizawa peeked up from his bowed form, eyes hard and sharp. “If the villains thought they had an opening, then I believe they are being short-sighted.”
There was a tense silence, everyone swallowing the weight of Aizawa's words. Even you were amazed at such a declaration of truth and care.
The reporter meekly lifted up his mic once more. “That is not evidence, though. It isn't a question of how you feel-”
You wanted to throw yourself across the table and throttle him. Thankfully your principal spoke up once more before you could ruin your career. “We are not standing around idly by. We will definitely get our student back.” The interview/apology was ended after that, you and Sekijiro mostly there just because you were there.
“Aizawa wait.” You sighed, heels quickly clicking after him. All you trying to avoid the rush of questions that flew out in response to the abrupt end. “Your speech was inspiring. I have no idea how you kept your cool while that asshole dissed your student.”
“I had no choice, flying off the handle or having a weak moment would do no good." You couldn’t help but feel like that was a dig to you. “They were only trying to get under our skin.”
You immediately became guarded once more, and you stopped back to leave the other way. “Well, I just came by to praise you, have a good day.” You felt disappointed that all he said to you was something negative, hoping for once to have a decent conversation.
___________________________________________
You had to move into dorms for the rest of the school year, possibly longer if Nedzu saw fit. The meeting was awfully boring, Nedzu was currently going over how the dorms will be set up and students expectations as well as teachers. “Blah blah blah dont fuck up the dorms blah blah blah set up good examples for the students blah blah blah don’t bring over random people and please don’t have loud relations with your coworkers-” Wait what-
The meeting ended, and everyone packed up their bags while having light conversations with the others. You walked over to Yamda snickering, face in disbelief.
“Hey Hizashi, what was that last part?” You asked breathlessly, a laugh on your lips.
Hizashi snickered beside you, and Nemuri smiled and shook her head. “Principal Nedzu basically asked us not to not have one-night stands and to not have loud sex with each other.”
“Oh my god.” You covered your mouth with your hand, doubling over in an effort to hide your laughter. Hizashi had no shame was laughing manically, Nemuri was just smiling and shaking her head disappointingly beside you.
___________________________________________
‘Roommates’ were hand-picked by the principal, based on the quiz he had created and forwarded to all the staff members. You had honestly answered all the questions, and were now riding the elevator up into your new home. Someone told you (Hizashi) that the apartments were apparently floor-through plan, a luxury floor plan really. The whole floor was dedicated to the rooming, and it was awesome. You didn’t know who your roomie was, the principal keeping that secret as a ‘Fun surprise!’ The elevator dinged, and you hurriedly pushed all your boxes out in the small hallway, pressing the ‘keep doors open’ button over and over. Luckily it was the last of the boxes, all your clothes, decorations, and miscellaneous cooking wear. Being promised that things like couches, beds/bed frames, and microwaves would be provided. You still brought over things like spoons/forks/butter knives and real knives, plus plates and cups.
You went to open the door, panting from all the exertion but realized it was already locked. So your roomie was already here..? You fished out the key from the bags you brought and unlocked the door. Opening the door you expected your roomie to have already decorated (you kinda expected it to be Hizashi, both of you bounced off each other pretty well) but the kitchen looked untouched.
Opening the door more, you saw the dining room and living room bare, as well as the hallway.
Maybe they hadn’t had time to decorate?
You shrugged and started to push the boxes in, too tired to lift them up and move them again.
“You’ll scratch the floor like that.” Your whole body froze, a dark gloom falling over you. That familiar irritating voice.
You looked up slowly, face contorted in a forced smile.
Aizawa Shouta.
“What are you doing here?” There was no way, in all of Nedzu's wisdom and knowledge that you and Aizawa were roommates. For the rest of the year. Or maybe, the rest of your career.
“Isn’t it obvious? We’re roommates.” He shrugged like an open admission wasn’t a death sentence.
“But, how is that allowed, we’re different genders?” You literally wouldn’t have minded if your roomie was the same gender or not, but it was the fact that it was him.
“Gender doesn’t equate to things like sexuality or self-restraint. Are you saying we shouldn’t be roommates because you cannot-” How he said this with a blank face bewildered you.
“No! I’m just saying we don’t work well together, we can’t go a single conversation without going for each other's necks.” You cut him off, now becoming bewildered.
“Well then, I guess you’ll have to show some self-restraint in other ways.” He shrugged and turned to go back into the room he already chose, which was annoying because why did he get first pick?
“Okay woah wait,” You followed him, the floor changing from kitchen tile to the carpet in the hallway. “I’m the one starting fights? Says the man who always has something negative to say, or who always just cuts me off and criticizes me.” He opened the door, and you saw a glimpse of his bare bedroom.
“I don’t always have something negative to say, you always have something to improve.” With that, Aizawa closed the door in your face. You growled out and angrily continued unpacking. This will be fun.
___________________________________________
Even if you were being sarcastic, living with the man was absolutely not fun. Aizawa's criticism and nagging got worse, and now he's deluded to actually fucking lecturing you like you were a kid.
You were hanging up old pictures of family members, along with scening paintings and newspapers with you in them.  Aizawa came out of his room, baggy clothes as usual and stopped you.
“Are you serious? Not only are you being extremely loud for eleven p.m., but you’re already putting holes in the new walls. You’re not even using the right nails, they’re going to snap after a few months of use.” He grabbed the hammer out of your hands, along with the nails you had in your other hand.
“I’m not even being that loud, plus who cares, I’m going to hang stuff up eventually why does it matter?” You tried to grab your supplies back, but Aizawa leaned away from you so it was out of your grasp.
“Because this is a shared living space, it’s rude to just hang stuff up without permission.” He set the tools on the ground, accidentally kicking over your pictures.
“Oh I’m sorry, do I need to ask you when to take a shit too?” You slightly lunged at him, puffing your chest out.
“Stop acting like a child, is it so hard to respect basic formalities?” Aizawa asked you, staring you down.
“Stop acting like a dick, is it so hard to be nice?” You threw his words back in his face, already pissed off.
“Enough, I’m tired already and you’re only putting a damper on my mood.” He pinched the bridge of his nose, turning back to his room. You found out he stole the larger room, with the walk-in closet and bathroom, leaving you with a tiny closet and no personal bathroom.
That was kinda how you two had been living for the past week, constant bickering over every single thing. Maybe he left stains on the tupperware and cups because of his horrid coffee addiction, or maybe you left your mess in the way of the living space, or maybe one of you just breathed too hard. Whatever it was, it started angry arguing with one or both of you storming out.
Whatever, recently you started to train in one of the personal gyms at the school, taking out your anger on the environment around you instead of murdering your roommate. That was our only place of solace, being able to jump and crawl around and hone in on your close combat. To be honest, it had been lacking, and the event at the camp left you self-conscious and hesitant. Noting the lights were already on, you walked in and dropped your bag at the door, gathering some light to use as stepping stools later. Quickly swapping your sweatpants and sweater for your hero suit, you walked out of the changing room and froze when you saw a figure right beside you.
Stepping out of the male changing room.
“Are you stalking me?” You turned to him, already angry.
“I could ask you the same thing, you seem to follow me wherever I go.” He snapped back, adjusting his capturing scarf.
“Because you’re always there. Like, I can’t even take a piss without you popping out of the corner to tell me the amount of toilet paper I’m using is wrong.”
“That’s an inappropriate example.” He watched you storm off, going to your corner of the gym to start your practice. You quickly climbed in the air, running across the left side of the gym while doing flips and jumps.
You could feel his cold gaze on you, analyzing your every move and jump. Self-conscious, you tripped mid-jump and panicked, years of hero instincts out the window. Your quirk deactivated, and you could feel yourself free falling through the air. You are fully prepared to hit the hard ground, tensing up your body to prepare for impact.
Instead of hitting the hard cement, large hands wrapped around you, holding your back and stomach protectively.
“Are you not a hero? What was that?” Aizawa growled, quickly standing you up and holding your shoulders while he looked you over.
“I got nervous! I panicked!” You shocked him away, holding yourself.
“Nervous about what? You were doing fine.”
“You! I could feel you judging me, so I just tripped and I freaked out!” Yelling at him, you missed his hand clutching over his heart.
“Freaked out? What if there was a student in danger, what if you were in danger?” His voice was getting as loud as yours was.
You clenched your fists, nails digging painfully in your palm. “Why do you care so much?”
Aizawa went silent after that, his face angry but he himself was quiet.
There was a heavy pause, he seemed to mull something over and you just sat angry at him.
“Because I will not let my staff be weak.” You looked away, already done with the conversation, done with him.
“I’m leaving, I’m done.” You tried to stroll past him, but he stuck out a hand.
“Wait.” You glared at him, and the bottom half of his face was engulfed with his scarf. “Train with me, let’s spar together.”
“Why would I ever-”
“Let me finish. It’ll allow me to train you to be better, and would let you get your frustrations out on me.”
That was..odd for Aizawa. You couldn’t deny the idea of beating Aizawa into the ground didn’t seem fun, but the idea of him being a teacher to you made you feel a type of way. You thought about it for a moment, but eventually, your anger won you over.
“Fine, but don’t blame me if you walk into your classroom limpiING-” Your sentence was cut off when Aizawa swept his feet under you, knocking you into the ground. You lay on the ground, arms flexing with the burning desire to knock his teeth out.
“You’re on asshole.”
___________________________________________
His strong hands clutching you, only there for seconds while he threw you to the ground, his dark eyes following your every movement, fast and calculating, the way he was so sure of his movements, fast and strong.
Those were images and thoughts that ran in your head when you stepped into the shower, hands delicate over blooming bruises and scratches. You managed to get a couple of good hits on him, your knuckles still raw when you clocked him right in the jaw and your legs slightly shaking when you pushed him off of you. Aizawa never fully gave you the chance to use your quirk, allowing you to fully focus on hand-to-hand combat, his specialty.
“You need to work more on your confidence and ability in close combat. Tomorrow we’ll do the same thing.” His monotone voice was a little more tired than usual, and he held an ice pack to the same spot where you punched him.
“Same time?” Your voice was just as tired, and you barely kept in a yawn. He simply nodded in response, turning in for the night.
Those interactions, those thoughts kept you up all night, wondering why thoughts of him infected your mind.
You turned over, needing sleep to make lesson plans and help with schedule planning.
___________________________________________
At first, training with Aizawa was fine, not great, but not exactly bad. But over the recent few weeks, he seemed to get even meaner than before, if that was even possible. You learned quickly he was holding back on you, and it made your class time very awkward.
"Hey, Ms. where'd you get those bruises from?"
"Rough night?"
It was embarrassing, especially the rougher he got.
"Fuck." You coughed, a swift kick in the chest downed you, and now you leaned over on your knees panting for breath. "Jesus dude, this is just training not the real fucking thing." You looked up at him, hand cupping your injury.
"You could have easily avoided that. I overestimated your skills. Get up." He didn't even sound sorry.
"Let me catch my breath first damn."
"No, get up. Do you think a villain will give you the same opportunity?" He taunted, hands on his hips while he looked down at you.
"I would've blinded the villain by now, give me a break." You waved him off, and he took the opportunity to grab your hand and haul you up.
"Or they could've killed you by now. You need to be stronger. Get ready." Aizawa quickly got into stance, fists ready to punch you again.
"Aizawa. Give me five fucking minutes, that hurt like a bitch." You backed up, creating a wide berth between the two of you.
He stood up, and because of his baggy hero suit, you couldn't see he was still flexing his muscles.
"See, was that so hard?" You sighed, rubbing at your chest. Taking a deep breath in, you looked up and closed your eyes. You yelled out when suddenly he tackled you to the ground, flipping you over to twist your arm.
You scratched at your bandages, fucker gave you a goddamn professional indian burn. A while back some of your advanced kids took their finals, each had to write three different essays about three different historical moments in their lives, in hero history, and Japanese history. You had put off grading them until the summer break since that was what you were originally planning to do at the start of the break. It was hard to grade so many papers when your arms and hands hurt like a bitch, and it was hard to focus with an achy body that hurt all over.
Groaning, you threw your head back and sighed, feeling a major headache growing on your head.
"What's your problem?" Aizawa's voice came from behind you, opening your eyes you saw his upside-down form sipping from a kitty cat coffee mug.
"Other than you, these goddamn papers. I put them off and now I have too much work to do." You sat back up, picking up your red glitter pen. You heard him sit beside you, the couch dipping under his weight. Aizawa picked up a random paper, skimming over it while he placed down his coffee cup.
"If you can't do it by yourself-"
"I can, thank you very much."
"-then I suppose I could help you. It doesn't seem that complicated." He shrugged, quickly putting his thick hair up in a bun. You watched his hands, and heat pooled in your cheeks at the sight. Even after all this time, you still couldn't deny the aggravating man wasn't attractive. His strong and long neck which was usually hidden was just so
hot. For lack of a better word, it made you feel like a medieval man seeing a woman's ankles for the first time.
"That's because that's one-third of the students' final, and that's the personal essay. If you want, you can do the personal ones while I do the hero and Japanese ones." You pushed the large stack of papers towards him, handing him a black glitter pen. His thick fingers slightly curled around your hand at the contact, making you swallow.
"Seriously? Do you not have any normal pens?" He asked, deadpanned.
"Nope." You turned away quickly, drinking some water to cool your body. What was wrong with you?
You scratched at your bandages again, wishing you could just rip them off. Suddenly, hands engulfed your forearm.
You turned over to your injury, seeing pale olive hands adjusting your bandages. You looked up with wide eyes and watched him fix them for you.
"Stop messing with them. You're going to agitate it more, and it will be more painful tomorrow." Aizawa's voice was firm, but his hands were so soft. So caring and gentle, fingers kindly moving them so they covered up everything. He looked up at you, awaiting whatever snappy response you had.
"You're agitating."
And for a moment no one did anything. The only sound was the whirring of the AC and the tick tick ticking of the analog clock above the kitchen doorway.
"You're infuriating." Aizawa responded, but there was no bite in his voice. Subtlety, every so subtlety, you two inched forward. His strong hand left your forearm to your shoulder, and you dropped your pen to inch your hand to his thigh.
You could feel your heart pounding in your chest, eyes solely focused on him.
You didn't know when, or where, or even why but sometime from when you met Aizawa to now, you sought for him everywhere. Even when he pissed you off more than anyone, you still wanted him to look at you, talk to you. You were the one always inviting him for drinks and hangouts with the staff, always tagging him along when you stayed at Hizashi's house. Even if he hated it, you always sent him cat memes and tiktoks, or sent him videos about coffee or teacher hacks. And every time he would grumble or complain something about professionalism or how it was stupid of you to do so. But every time, he'd respond, every time he tagged along, and he would even send you tiktoks back, things he thought you'd like.
It had always been him. And it was always you.
You were so close, your hand on his chest, his heart was hammering, almost as fast as yours, and his hand was splayed on your back, holding you. So close.
"OH FUCK! GET IT!"
That broke you both out of your trance, both of you pulled your hands back like they burned.
You quickly looked at the coffee table in front of you, staring down while your white knuckles your knees.
Aizawa cleared his throat but said nothing.
"EEEEE!"
Hizashi's loud squealing reverberated around the home, and you laughed. Mostly out of nerves, but still laughed.
Aizawa sighed, cursing under his breath. "Fucking Hizashi and his fear of bugs."
Wiping a tear from your eye, (from embarrassment maybe?) you turned to look at him. Aizawa was also pointedly avoiding eye contact and had already snatched up the pen and paper again.
"I remember watching the footage from your guys' finals, that shit was hilarious." You giggled, face still red.
"Not so much when he ran to the emergency showers screaming his goddamn head off. I had to follow him to make sure he didn't blow the damn building away." With quick hands he put down his hair again, but not before you saw how red his ears had become. Not only that, but you saw him trying to hide his shaky hands.
Leaning over you also continued your work, like you were supposed to, ignoring the butterflies in your stomach and the raging blush you were sure you had.
Later that night, laying alone in your bed you screamed into your pillow. A horrifying realization that was going to make your life so much harder.
You hated Shouta Aizawa as much as you loved him. And you were almost sure he felt the same.

Hi blue! I hope you've been feeling well! If you don't mind, would you give us a sneak peek of what you're currently working on? I'm looking forward to whatever it is 💖💕
đŸ„€
Here are some that I've started :)
Let's hope I'll finish them
Tumblr media
The hedwig diaries: "I want to kill"
Dear diary, I want to kill and you have to believe it's more than just selfish reasons. I don't know what else to do. I respect everyone, why can't they respect me? Why does no one think that my relationship is serious? I love Y/N more than anything else in this entire world! Am I the only one seeing that? Certainly not, right?
Someone tried to approach them today in the cafeteria. I could see in an instant that he had no good intentions. I've tried to get Y/N to ditch the grotesque cafeteria food, but they won't hear me out
I can't for the life of me understand why. I've told them that I can get my chef to make lunchboxes for us both, but they squirm when I'm trying. I think it's because of what others will think. Y/N wants to blend in and not stand out. Being with me only complicates that. They told me once that if they would start eating food from my house, they'd stand out even more — people might even think they're a gold digger, that they're using me. I know Y/N, I know they're not. Why do they have to care what others think so badly?
Tumblr media
Deja vu [Dr Kry x female reader]
He copies the telephone number from the page into his phone. His hands are trembling. He can’t believe that he’s going to speak with you again! Dr Kry walks out into the corridor and dials. He holds the phone to his ear, swallowing.
“Hello?”
Your sweet voice is enough to cause his legs to shake. He suddenly feels like a schoolboy again. Oh, how he hates it.
“Y/N
”, he whispers out when remembering how to speak.
Silence.
“Why are you calling me?” you ask harshly. “How did you get my number?!”
“Your son came into my office and-”
“Oh my God! Don’t touch him, please! Kry, please, he’s innocent.”
Hearing you plead like that again gives him the confidence back.
“Don’t freak out now”, he says. “I’m not going to hurt him. Better yet, I’ll cure him
but I won’t let him go unless you come here. Alone. And if you tell anyone I’ll cause an
accident. You’re familiar with those, aren't you?”
“You fucking madman, Kry!”
He smiles.
“So you’ll come?” he asks excitedly. “I’ll see you in twenty minutes then. I’ll be waiting.”
Tumblr media
In our own world [king Edmund x female reader]
"Who were you talking to?" Edmund asks without looking up from his desk. "Fuck all of these papers make me insane!"
"It was the queen, your majesty", the guard answers.
Edmund snaps his head up, his heart skipping a beat. You've finally come to him?
"What did she want?" he asks quickly.
"She just wanted to speak with you", the guard answers. "Nothing more. She said that it could wait so I sent her away. I know how you said that you didn't want to be disturbed-"
"You fucking idiot! That rule implies for everyone but her. Go get her."
"Yes, your highness."
The guard runs out of the room, sensing that he's upset king. Edmund sighs frustratedly, shaking his head.
He returns with you by hid side just a minute later. Carefully, he walks out and shuts the door behind him. Edmund smiles fondly as he sees you.
"I heard you wanted to talk to me", he says softly.
"It was nothing important", you say.
"Yes, it was. Come here."
He pats his lap. You walk over to him slowly and sit down on his thigh. Edmund smiles and wraps his arm around your waist securely.
Tumblr media
The balance of a youngster (might change the title) [Silas x reader]
You hide the bloody, crying boy behind you.
“How fucking low are you?!” you shout, unable to control your feelings. “That’s a child for fucks sake!”
You might not be able to stand up for yourself in his Hell house, but you can’t watch them hurt a little kid.
“Lower. Your. Voice.”
Too late. They freeze with their eyes stuck on Silas coming out behind them. You look at him over your shoulder, growing cold. You’ve disturbed his work.
“What the hell is going on out here?” Silas mutters. “I’m trying to work.” He caresses your shoulder protectively. “Baby, are you alright?”
“I’m okay”, you say. “But these men are hurting this little boy.”
He stands between you and the men. You grab the little boy and turn around to walk back inside.
“Boss, that little shit tried to grab my gun and run”, one of the men sighs.
“I don’t fucking care, alright?” Silas hisses and glances towards the back door to make sure you didn’t hear. “How stupid can you be to do this outside where people can hear? Especially Y/N! How many times have I told you to watch what you’re doing?!”
“We didn’t know they were allowed to walk freely around the house”, the other man says. “Honestly. We thought they were either locked in the basement or bedroom.”
Silas sighs heavily. “Idiots.”
Tumblr media
Scaring me [Jerry x reader]
Carefully, she lifts your fingers to her plump lips and kisses it softly.
You look at the cabbage.
"Don't think about it", Jerry tells you. "You're not going to continue. This was a stupid idea. Why did I ever think it was okay for you to use a knife? I trust you too much. Fuck sake. You hurt yourself. Get out of the kitchen."
"It's just a little cut
", you say. "I wanted to make something special for you. I had it all planned
"
She cups your cheeks between her hands.
"I know, baby", she says comfortingly. "And I'm very grateful that you wanted to do something for me, but what kind of girlfriend am I if I let you get hurt, hm? My number one priority is to protect you."
"I know, but
"
"I'll continue this. Go sit down in the living room. People like you shouldn't be allowed into kitchens."
Tumblr media
I'm planning to make a oneshot where you escape Hedwig too, but I haven't started it yet!!<33

Hi hi, hope you’re doing lovely! I love your writing so much and would love to see for the pairing prompt numbers 24 and 25 for Osamu Miya 💞 đŸ«Ł much love!
THANK YOU SMOR 💕đŸ„č youÂŽre such a lovely person đŸ«¶đŸ» Hope you like Osamu being a mess in bed ÂŽcause he likes rough sex ‹⩊‹
Tumblr media
"I'm hooome!" Osamu shouted as he crossed the door frame. You had time to leave the last dish on the table and wait for him next to it, rag over shoulder, as if you were a professional chef, impatient to see his reaction, your illusion projected in your gaze. "What's that smells so good?" as soon as he crossed the corner, Osamu stared, analyzing each of the dishes on the table, a radiant smile escaping from the corner of his lips. "Oh. Wow"
"Yeaahh I know. You must be sick of eating and seeing so much rice every day but, you know no one better than me knows how to make your favorite onigiris" you said with a smug air. He laughed.
"Yeah yeah
but..." He walked towards you "May I remind you who is the owner and chef of the best onigiri restaurant in all of Hyogo?" the tip of his nose brushed yours in a gentle and intimate gesture, calming the tension between your eyebrows and making the pout disappear from your lips. "Thank you for dinner".
Osamu was grateful to be home, especially after a long and exhausting day at the store. Dinner with his favorite girl and watching a movie cuddled up on the couch was what made him impatient to come home every night after work. But tonight was special when you also prepared a hot bath for him that was originally going to be just for your boyfriend until he insisted that you needed to relax too.
One thing led to another and although you opposed resistance so as not to ruin the private moment between you, it had the opposite effect on Osamu. The last thing you remember before watching you riding his cock was that, after the bath, he flew you to the bed, where he spent a few minutes smelling the aroma of soap on your skin, distributing kisses and small nibbles along your legs, and whispering some of his favorite filthy words to you before raising both of your legs to let them fall on his shoulders and fuck you like an animal.
"Look how messy you are" your hands searched for a foothold on the headboard as Osamu rammed into you harder. It was a tough battle to hold out a little longer without cumming even though his messy wet hair, his eyes drunk with arousal and the sidelong glimpse of those fucking arms holding your hips made you want to get the opposite. "I think you've forgotten the most important thing about dinner tonight
" "Wha—" he didn't give you time to answer, only to witness how in one quick movement he left you to crawl over the bedsheets and end up lying with you sitting on his face.
"Dessert, honey. I wanna taste this juice soo good
" You had no choice except shut up and keep your balance as Osamu began to eat you hungrily, making those messy sounds every time he had you between his lips. "You won't stop shaking, I promise. I just need you to let the world know who makes you feel so damn good." You would. You'd do anything to make him feel at home.

Hi Lena! Thank you for the "whole rambling post" as you called it, on Crosshair having a long-term relationship! Would you be able and willing to do one for Rex? I'm especially interested in your thoughts on his priorities when it comes to choice between his s/o and his brothers. We know he's very loyal, but who do you think would take precedence? Especially if his s/o is fighting a war alongside him (like, a medic or something). Thank you so much! I appreciate you! 💕
Of course I can ramble about my other love 💙
Tumblr media
Rex would have been very slow to enter a relationship, even with someone he openly cared for. In fact, there's only one type of person he would ever be in a relationship with, and that would be his best friend. A person he's known for a while, completely trusts, and has practically already been sharing a life with the whole time anyway... so at a certain point, he might as well embrace these feelings he didn't know he had and make it official.
*cue his S/O sighing, "I thought you'd never ask"*
*cue his brothers and Ahsoka and Anakin and even the droids he's fighting exclaiming, "It's about time!!!"*
Once in a relationship, Rex starts acting like a boy with a crush. Can't sleep. Longing looks. Blushes galore. He can't understand why he's like this. He's had so many conversations with them, why is he just now getting tongue-tied? Naturally his brothers tease him about it and cause him to be even more flustered. Eventually he settles back into normalcy... but he'll still have moments where he's so enamored by them he can't function, no matter how long they've been together.
The fact his relationship is built on a friendship makes him the absolute sweetest boyfriend. He already knows so much about them, how to make them happy, how to comfort them, the right things to say or do at the right times. And now he can add in physical gestures and romantic touches. He is delighted when he can get them to blush as much as he does. But more importantly, he just sleeps better knowing they are taken care of.
Furthermore, he and his S/O have fun. They can be utter goofballs sometimes, coming up with dumb inside jokes and silly dances and other random nonsense. It's a kind of intimacy for them, to let down their inhibitions and enjoy the small things. Any arguments that come up are usually petty and not taken too seriously. But for the few disagreements that are serious, Rex will insist they take time to compose themselves separately before coming back together to talk it over.
There is no question of his loyalty, because he knows that his S/O values all the same things. Whether they're fighting with the GAR, or rescuing clone brothers from the Empire, or any other cause they set their sights on... they're doing it together. They are a team. Rex will still worry about them, of course, and he may have nightmares sometimes about being in a situation where he has to choose between saving a brother or saving his S/O.
That being said, he does struggle with making decisions. The future is an empty, uncertain place to him, and outside of strategizing on a battlefield, he really doesn't know what to plan for. He doesn't want to get his hopes up - or his partner's - for something that could be taken away from them. Sometimes this hesitancy even carries into the small things, like planning a date night or getting a pet. He does better when his S/O reframes things as helping others, or appeals to his nobleness.
Rex is a caring, genuine, and devoted lover. He may not follow a conventional path into romance, but that's okay. His relationship is that much more fulfilling and special because of it. Rex is an exceptional clone, capable of so much more than he was designed to be. He needs a partner who sees that and empowers him, who will stand by his side as an equal, fighting the good fight. In turn, Rex will support and love them for who they are and all the joy they bring him.

Warnings: none. (other than me using google english to spanish. Pls if you found a better website, PLS TELL. pls dont gatekeep. ) Fluff(?) also bad grammar???
Part 2
You stared at the 2 outfits you had rested on your bed, you couldn't pick between the slightly slutty one or the one that had more decency. You knew you were going to be slightly fucked up by the end of the night, so did you want to do it in a slutty way or sexy way? You still didn't know. You decided that you were going to play some music to get you in that partying mood. The music rang in your ears and your next door neighbor's.
Marc was laying in his bed finally being able to sleep after being up since 2 am the day before. Khonsu had been making Marc, Jake and Steven do his unforgiving bidding, all three of them were exhausted from all the trouble they had been in. Just when they thought they could get a break, they heard their neighbor's music.
"JesĂșs puto cristo," Jake spoke as the weak and exhausted body jolked up.
"Bloody hell. I think the universe just hates us, yeah?" Steven said as he took over the hands and rubbed their eyes.
"I don't think they know the walls are kinda thin," Marc mumbles out tryin to excuse their actions. Jake started saying that they could just go next door and warn them but Marc and steven felt way too tired to do so. And after they responded to Jake's proposal the music died down.
"See, I think they're done," Steven said as he takes over and lays back down and closes their eyes. Oh it was painful how wrong he was. They got 10 minutes of sleep before hearing the music even louder this time.
You weren't doing this on purpose, you didn't even know that you had a next door neighbor. You and the boys never crossed paths, and they were never loud so you had thought maybe you could blast music with no interruptions. Though you were about to be proved so wrong. That's when you heard a knock. You were confused, " I thought I told them I'll meet them at f/n's house," You said as you pressed paused on your phone. You smoothed your skirt/pants one last time before opening up your door.
"Hello," The man said as he waved at you. You waved back as you noticed that he was in his slightly rinkled Pjs. Steven did that same to you and lawd have mercy on him, you were so fucking fine.
His eyes rack over your frame, you had your hair pulled back, plum lips with beautiful jewelry hung around your neck, and gods your clothes looked fucking hot on you. Steven felt all the air in lungs leave and so quickly that his chest started to ache. Marc and Jake were the first time in history very quiet in a long time. There were no remarks on how they were sleepy and this to be over, they were only in awe of your form.
"I'm sorry, is there something I could help you with?' You asked as you tilted your head in question. For the first time Marc, Steven and Jake had gotten this nervous about someone. They all knew that steven had to stay in control but it felt like they were going slightly override.
"A-ah! yes the music... the music is too loud," Steven softly said. Then it finally hit you, he was trying to sleep and your music was too loud. He's your next door neighbor! Guilt started to flow through your veins, how could you keep a tired man from sleeping, reader???
"Oh! Im so sorry! I didn't know that I had a next door neighbor! I'm so sorry for keeping you awake! Yes! I'll keep the music down!" You rambled. The boys thought it was very cute. Now all three of them were wondering how they could get your number without making it sound cringey nor weird.
"Again, I'm so sorry for keeping you awake.." You paused waiting for a name. You wanted the name of your cute neighbor you had no idea about.
"Steven Grant," Steven stammered out. He started to fidget with the hem of his shirt.
"Steven Grant," You repeated, "I really like that name." Steven smiled widely and Jake remined him that he was still fucking tired. Don't get him wrong he liked 'speaking with you' but their mission was not only nerve racking but exhausting. Steven started to feel the sleepiness weigh his bones down. He'll have to settle for just speaking to you. Marc told him to tell you thank you and good night.
"Thank you... well I should head to bed, have a nice night," He promptly said before you replied with a good night back. He went back to their flat while they talked about how to get your number next time. All three of them wanted that to be very soon. Now they all started to feel a little grateful for the loud music you played. And all in that moment they remembered that they don't even know your name...

HYSTERIA CHAPTER 3
You’ll be happy to know that I'm a liar đŸ«¶đŸ»
Got a little carried away, and Hysteria is now going to be four parts! How exciting, hope everyone likes angst cause this chapter is FULL of it.
Tumblr media
Thank you for reading as always love ya 💕
New couples always seemed to have the habit of not being able to keep their hands off of each other. Bret and Shawn were no exception to that. Bret specifically, found a libido that he thought he’d lost.
He was enamored with Shawn’s body, every reaction and noise the blonde made to his touches drove him wild. If he wasn’t thinking about work, he was thinking about the next position he could put Shawn in.
At first, no one else seemed to notice or care that Bret and Shawn would sneak off to the supply closet or how neither of them wanted to go out and party after a show, instead rushing back to the hotel room to celebrate by themselves.
Everything was fine until Scott came into the locker room one day pissed about how he couldn't sleep the night before.
“I swear to god man, all I could hear was ‘Ohhh don't stop Bret!! Your dick is so big!! Keep fucking me oohhhh my gooood!!’” Scott mocked Shawn’s voice as high-pitched and girlie, but he got the point across.
Bret wasn't as comfortable talking about his sex life in front of the others as Shawn was. He didn't seem to care at all if he was getting made fun of by his friends, but maybe that was just how comfortable they all were with each other. Just sitting there listening to Scott describe in detail everything he heard made Bret’s face feel hot.
He hadn't even told Owen, Jim, or Davey what had been going on yet. It was obvious that Owen had his suspicions, his little brother knew him better than most and could tell there was a reason that Bret didn't seem as miserable. Jim and Davey on the other hand were sort of bitter that Bret hadn't been hanging around as much, only showing up when they were working or traveling. It had only been a few weeks, but he still felt bad about the distance.
“I’ve walked into the showers and Bret’s tongue has been all the way down Shawn’s asshole, and you're complaining about some moaning?” Kevin retorted, shivering at the memory.
Bret felt the color drain from his face. That was not something he had planned on reliving anytime soon. It was an accident. Sort of.
After a particularly fun house show one night, Bret was feeling a little adventurous. He'd never tried it before and Shawn wasn't going to say no to something that felt good. Kevin just walked into the showers at a horrible time.
The act itself was fantastic, it was just Kevin’s screams of horror that made Bret’s skin crawl at the memory. He still took Shawn back to the hotel that night and finished the job.
“Okay okay,” Shawn said chuckling and waving his hands in surrender, “That's enough about my asshole.”
Bret let out a sigh of relief.
“But it’s such a hot topic around here lately,” Hunter added conveniently as he walked into the locker room.
“You’d know wouldn't you?” Kid nodded in Hunter’s direction.
Bret really hoped that was a joke because the last thing he needed was to suddenly start acting jealous around Shawn’s friends. He liked Hunter and thought he was a good guy with a level head on his shoulders, but Bret didn't share very well.
Shawn must have sensed the quick shift in Bret’s demeanor so he reached over and gave his hand a reassuring squeeze, “They’re stupid.”
Squeezing back, Bret returned the smile. He trusted Shawn and his friends weren't bad, maybe a little immature for his taste, but they had each other’s backs.
“No, but I would know what your mom’s looks like,” Hunter jabbed back, earning a punch on his shoulder from Kid.
Hunter laughed and rubbed his shoulder before continuing, “Anyways, the boss wants to see you two,” he pointed in Bret and Shawn’s direction.
Kevin broke the long silence that followed, “That can't be good.”
***
The time had come. Bret knew it was coming eventually, but he’d spent so much time shoving it into the back of his brain with everything else going on that it hadn't been a major factor up until now.
Bret would drop the belt to Shawn.
It wasn't because he had done anything wrong; he'd been the champion for months. It was Shawn’s turn to be at the top, it was as simple as that. Bret had put other performers over plenty of times, he wasn't a sore loser, but for some reason, hearing it out loud from the boss made his gut drop.
They walked out of Vince’s office in silence. Shawn didn't seem to have a reaction; maybe he was too scared to show Bret how he was feeling about it.
“I think I should um
” Bret stopped, he didn't know what the next move was, “I think I need to talk to Owen.”
“Good idea,” Shawn kept his tone neutral, but his face was dejected.
Bret didn't have the guts to meet his eyes, “I’ll see you tonight.”
There was an uncomfortable silence that lasted far too long. Bret should say something, he should congratulate Shawn on this, but his own feelings about dropping the belt swelled up. He leaned in and gave Shawn a quick kiss before walking away, leaving the blonde standing in the hall.
It was a horrible thing to do, leaving Shawn standing there, but he wasn't sure what else to do. He owed him an apology, but first, he had to see Owen and fill his brother in on the situation. There was no one else he could talk to.
When Bret found Owen back at the hotel, he didn’t hesitate to spill everything he had been holding back. He told Owen about Shawn, their newly budding romance, dropping the belt, his mixed feelings about it, and feeling terrible about being distant. It was like he word-vomited trying to get his point across, not letting Owen get a word in.
“I don't know if I can do this,” Bret was sitting on the couch in Owen’s room as he raved about his predicament.
He could hardly believe he was coming to his youngest brother for a problem like this, but Owen had a family. In a way, his brother was more emotionally mature than him.
“So you’re fucking Shawn?” Owen asked, ignoring every other part of Bret’s tirade.
Exhaling through his nose, Bret gave his brother a look, “Yes, Owen.”
“Davey owes me twenty bucks.”
“You guys bet on this?” Bret scoffed.
“Jim did too, but he was on my side,” Owen said nonchalantly.
“Owen!”
“Sorry,” His brother shrugged, “Are you using protection?”
“Jesus Christ dude, I can't knock him up,” He regretted his decision to talk already.
“I know but- y’know,” Owen raised a brow.
Bret was quick to defend, “I don't like what you're implying.”
“I’m not implying anything!” Owen held his hands up in surrender, “I don't know how guys do ‘stuff.’”
Bret could feel his head begin to throb, “Owen, I didn't come here to tell you about my sex life.”
“I mean you kinda did.”
He was starting to think that he deserved this torment from his little brother.
“Whatever, that's not what I meant,” Bret exhaled again, wanting to start the conversation over, “The belt. What should I do?”
The answer was right there. Drop the belt. Shawn deserved it, he worked his ass off to prove himself in the company so what was the problem? Was he just selfish? He’d run off from Shawn in the hallway like he was diseased; he couldn’t imagine what the blonde was even thinking right now.
“Drop the belt,” Owen said without hesitation.
“It’s not that simple,” Bret shook his head, eyes locked on the floor.
“You said it wasn’t that simple about having feelings for Shawn too but it literally was. So now is the first test of the relationship, are you willing to give up the title for him?”
“That’s the problem,” Bret sighed and moved his gaze to his little brother, “I don’t know if I am.”
Owen didn’t say anything for a moment; like he was considering his words very carefully.
“Then maybe you’re not ready to be with him.”
It was a gut punch. It hurt more than it should have, which is how Bret knew it might be the truth. He didn’t want to break up with Shawn, they were still in the process of getting to know each other in the romantic sense. It was still the beginning, and for the first time in his life, Bret didn’t feel so alone.
He had thought he was ready for a relationship the moment they kissed, but was it all in his head? They moved so fast that Bret had mentally left the belt in the dust. It was the thing that he had worked tirelessly for, for decades. And in the end, the excitement of the new relationship would fade, wouldn’t it? Shawn would probably get bored and move on, but just the thought of that made Bret sick to his stomach.
Shawn was undoubtedly one of the greatest things to happen to him, but was it too good to be true?
***
That night at the hotel, Bret was still distant and stand-offish. Shawn offered him a spot to go to dinner with the guys but he declined, he told the blonde to go enjoy himself and that he deserved it. It was the closest thing he’d given Shawn to a ‘congratulations.’
He thought about going to make amends with Jim and Davey, but Owen told him he would pass word to them after their talk.
So that left Bret to sit and stare at the ceiling. He could go work out, but his head wasn’t in it. He missed Shawn and wanted to hold him and apologize for being weird about this, but he saw the look on Shawn’s face when he told him he didn’t feel like eating out.
He noticed the way that Shawn clenched his jaw and the sadness in his eyes. God, he was such a jerk. A selfish jerk. Shawn was the type, despite his good looks and cocky attitude, that needed some reassurance now and then. Bret had a lot to think about, but he shouldn’t tear Shawn down in the process.
An idea popped into his head after a while. He would go down the street to a little corner store and get Shawn some flowers. Or a card. Anything to show the blonde that he was happy for him and sorry for acting funny.
Half an hour later, he did exactly that. Bret had no idea what he was doing as he stood around and stared at all the different options. Roses were too corny, but Lilies didn’t scream ‘Shawn’ to him. He was the opposite of a kid in a candy store, whatever that would be.
“Can I help you?” A tiny old woman asked from behind the counter.
That social awkwardness that always caused Bret’s throat to close up when he talked to new people reared its ugly head, “Uh, I don’t- I’m not sure- “ He took a second and cleared his throat, “Yes, I need some help.”
“Well, what’s the occasion?” She moved from behind the counter over to Bret.
The old lady was over a foot shorter than him but for some reason, he was the one that lacked confidence. He was very out of his element.
“I need to apologize to my- to someone,” Bret gave the lady an unsure look.
“Not very good with words, are you, sweetheart?” The lady gave him a gentle pat on the arm.
He shook his head in response, biting the inside of his cheek.
“Well that's quite alright, you’re in the right place,” She grabbed a small bouquet of some flowers he didn’t recognize.
“Orchids, dear,” She looked them over for impurities, “They symbolize strength and unity, a very resilient flower.”
That’s exactly what he needed.
“How much?”
***
Back at the hotel, Bret paced back and forth as he waited for Shawn to come back. The old lady at the shop gave him a deal on the flowers and told him that everything would be alright. It was like she read his body language to a tee.
He wasn’t one for trusting strangers much, but she seemed nice enough. Hopefully, Orchids would do the trick.
Yelling down the hallway snapped Bret out of his thoughts. He could recognize that voice in a heartbeat; Shawn was always loud with his friends and he didn’t much care whenever someone filed a noise complaint in a hotel or somewhere else.
Holding the flowers behind his back, Bret waited for the door to unlock and to greet Shawn with a much better attitude. But the door never unlocked, instead, he was met with loud banging on the door and a much different voice.
“Bret! Get out here!”
Hunter’s voice. Of course, it was Hunter, it was always him. Bret quickly shoved the flowers into a nightstand drawer and moved to answer the door.
As soon as he opened it, he was met with a very pissed-off Hunter, but no Shawn.
He raised a brow, immediately confused, “Did you lose him or something? I thought I just heard his voice.”
“No, he went to my room,” Hunter said with no amusement.
A spike of jealousy ran down his spine, but she shoved it down.
“Why?” Bret knew this was leading nowhere good.
“Because,” Hunter continued, “Shawn spent the entire dinner ‘boohooing’ about how you started to give him the cold shoulder after you met with Vince today.”
Bret tried, but was interrupted, “I can explain-“
“You don’t need to. The moment it came time for you to put someone else above yourself, you flaked,” Hunter was not open to hearing Bret out.
It was personal now; because it wasn’t that Hunter was irritated about Bret being too dumb to see the signals that Shawn was sending, but now it was about how Bret hard hurt Shawn. It clearly didn’t sit well with the younger man.
“Just let me talk to him,” Bret did his best to keep his cool, this could all be explained. He would tell Shawn that he was sorry and that he was stupid to even second-guess anything.
Hunter huffed, ”You guys are adults, you can talk to him all you want, but I doubt he’ll listen.”
“Why are you even here?” Bret scoffed, the ability to stay calm was suddenly fleeting.
Shawn had run off to another man’s bedroom, and Bret was the one getting a lecture. It was almost comical.
”Because I was trying to give you a heads up, dickhead. Shawn’s not exactly-“
Before Hunter could finish, there was a loud crash from down the hall. A glass bottle shattered outside the door of Hunter’s room.
“Hitman!” Shawn yelled, emerging into the hallway. He was angry and intoxicated.
Bret’s gut dropped, there was no dealing with Shawn when he was like this. It wasn’t the Shawn he’d gotten to know behind closed doors; the one that loved to watch the TV on low volume because he secretly craved the quiet or the one that woke Bret up with sweet kisses all over his face just because he wanted to. No, this was the Heartbreak Kid. The showboat and antagonist.
He couldn't think of anything to do; he hadn't dealt with Shawn when he was like this. This was the first time it was his problem, at least. Bret gave Hunter a pleading look, but he knew that ultimately, Shawn was his to handle now.
“Shawn, you should keep it down,” Bret suggested.
It wasn’t a command; he just didn’t want to deal with a noise complaint while also managing to get Shawn to calm down.
”Oh, so now you can tell me what to do?” Shawn slurred as he made his way over to them, “I don’t think so, champ. Or should I say soon-to-be ‘former’ champ?”
The jab hit its mark. Bret knew he couldn’t take anything that Shawn said at the moment seriously, but that didn’t mean that it didn’t hurt.
”Just come inside so we can go to bed,” he urged, putting a hand on Shawn’s shoulder.
”Don’t touch me,” The blonde mumbled and half-assedly jerked away, “You hate me.”
”I don’t hate you, Shawn. We can talk about this in the morning,” Bret moved more into the hallway so he could steer Shawn in the right direction.
He jerked away again from Bret’s touch, this time weakly swatting his arm, “He hates me,” he said again towards Hunter.
”Shawn you need to go to bed,” Was all Hunter added.
”Fine,” Shawn grumpily pointed at Bret, “But I’m not going with you.”
Bret shook his head. That was not acceptable. Shawn was drunk and needed to be taken care of, and it was Bret’s job to do so. Maybe there were some ground rules they needed to set because Bret was not comfortable with Shawn sleeping in another man’s room. Even if it was just to sleep.
“Honey-” Bret tried, but Shawn butt in.
“Don’t ‘honey’ me, you jerk,” Shawn drunkenly shoved a finger into Bret’s chest, “I just said you don't get to tell me what to do.”
“It’ll shut him up if you just let him come with me,” Hunter added.
It wasn't that Bret didn’t trust Hunter, but this situation was just not ideal. He was failing at being a good partner; he couldn't even get Shawn to sleep in the same room with him.
“No, I'm sleeping out here,” Shawn crossed his arms, like an angry child.
“You're not sleeping in the hallway!” Both Bret and Hunter said at the same time.
Bret didn’t see another option at this point, he needed to set his feelings aside. At last, he relented.
”Okay fine, take him to yours,” He sighed and gave Hunter a look, both of them knowing that just taking Shawn to Hunter’s room till he passed out was probably the easiest option, “Just get some water into him if you can.”
“Not my first time,” Hunter shrugged as he turned a pouty Shawn away and led him to his room.
Once they were gone, Bret went back inside and sat on the bed. He pulled the Orchids out from the drawer and stroked a purple petal with his thumb. Everything had gone so much worse than he thought.
***
Bret left the hotel door unlocked in case Shawn decided to come wandering back into their room in the night, but he hadn’t shown.
The Orchids were now moved into a makeshift vase made out of the paper coffee cups that the hotel had lying around.
Hopefully, after the catastrophe that was last night, Shawn would hear him out. Bret knew he was wrong in his initial reaction to dropping the belt, but he was doing his best to fix it. Owen’s words rang through his head. Maybe you’re not ready to be with him. That couldn’t be right. Owen didn’t know what he was talking about.
That morning, Bret saw that Shawn’s stuff was still in the room, so there was hope. He got up and got dressed for the gym. They had to hit the road at noon, but there was still plenty of time. He would hit the hotel gym and hope that Shawn was in the room when he came back. He left the orchids out as a peace offering.
The sight of Shawn sitting on the bed when came back from his workout startled him. Evidently, the blonde was a little worse for wear. His long hair was unkempt and he looked exhausted, but that's what alcohol did.
“Hey,” Bret offered gently, entering the room and tossing his gym bag on the nearby couch.
Shawn looked up from where his chin was resting on his hands, “Hey.”
“You feeling okay?” He wanted to approach the blonde but was hesitant.
“Yeah I'm- I'm fine,” Shawn answered softly, remorse in his voice.
They sat in silence for a moment before Bret finally made a move. He walked over to Shawn and grabbed his hand, urging him to stand. Neither said anything as Bret pulled Shawn into a hug. The blonde melted in his arms, burying his face into Bret’s neck.
This was the Shawn he knew. The one that was secretly needy and wanted comfort. They did have to talk about everything but for the moment, Bret was content to stand there and hold Shawn till he was ready to talk. It was a hiccup. Relationships had hiccups, didn't they?
Bret pressed a kiss into Shawn’s hair and gave a reassuring squeeze around his waist. They stayed like that for a while longer before Shawn broke the silence.
“Was that our first fight?” His voice was slightly muffled from where he dug his face into the crook of Bret’s neck.
He let out a small laugh in response, “No way.”
“Our first one as a
” Shawn stood up straight and pointed a finger back and forth between them, “Whatever we’re calling this.”
“Well,” Bret still held onto Shawn’s hand as they both sat down on the edge of the bed, “What do you want to call it?”
He wasn't expecting the bombshell that Shawn hit him with.
“I know what I want to call this, but I don't think you do,” Shawn said, remorsefully.
Bret didn't fully understand what Shawn was getting at. There was a lot they had to discuss, but he thought they were eventually going to get the hang of this.
“What do you mean?” Bret asked, thumb stroking over Shawn’s knuckles, much like he did with the flower petal the night prior.
“I know what I want, Bret,” Shawn said directly.
“Well, I’m willing to give you whatever you want,” Bret added.
Shawn shook his head and sighed, “You’re not listening.”
“What?”
“You’re not hearing what I'm saying,” Shawn squeezed Bret’s hand for emphasis, “What do you want?”
“What I want doesn't matter-”
“Are we just going to sit here and pretend that yesterday didn't happen? That the moment we found out about the title change you didn’t become a different person?” Shawn explained as he took his hand away from Bret’s.
“You wouldn't even talk to me, let alone tell me how you were feeling,” Shawn continued, “You want the easy answer, the quickest fix, and that's not going to work.”
The remnants of Shawn’s touch almost stung. Bret wanted it back, wanted all the fighting to stop. Maybe he did only want the easy way out.
“I got overwhelmed and I'm sorry,” Bret reached for the blonde’s hand again but was met with him pulling away, “It was just a lot to take in at the time, I'm fine now. I wouldn't want to drop the belt to anyone else.”
Maybe you're not ready to be with him. Those stupid words haunted Bret’s thoughts again. Putting doubts into every little thing he said.
“It’s not about the belt, Bret,” He could see the frustration rise on Shawn’s face, “It’s about the fact that I feel like I don't even know you.”
Bret stood, suddenly irritated, “You spent the last three months trying to piss me off every chance you got, but I have to take a little time to think about a giant career change, and all the sudden ‘you don't know me?’”
“You don't think I deserve it,” Shawn stood and got in his face, “You just want to give me what I want so I’ll shut up.”
“Don’t tell me what I think,” Bret’s tone darkened, “And don’t act like you're totally innocent in this.”
“What are you talking about?” Shawn huffed.
“I’m starting to wonder if I need to be concerned about Hunter,” Bret accused as he met Shawn’s glare.
The shock on Shawn’s face was apparent, “Excuse me?”
“You slept in his room last night, why don't you tell me all about your sleepover with your ‘best friend?’ Bret knew he was reaching, but he was looking for any sort of ground to stand on.
Shawn’s tone softened, hurt by Bret’s accusation, “Don’t talk about Hunter that way.”
“Oh, so I do need to be concerned?” Bret was losing his senses; he was never good at losing an argument.
“You don’t know shit about the things Hunter and I have been through together,” The blonde shook his head, “To even think
”
Bret quickly realized he had gone too far, “Shawn, you're right, I shouldn't have-”
“Call me when you're ‘ready to be with me,’” Shawn said dismissively and turned to grab his things.
“Who did- how-” Bret wanted to claw his own skin off.
“You think I wasn't gonna talk to your brother after you disappeared all day?” Shawn tossed his bag over his shoulder and walked past Bret.
“Shawn wait- that's not-” Bret turned to plead with the other man.
Shawn stopped by the table where the Orchids sat in their poor excuse for a vase.
He gently touched a petal and sighed, “I’m sorry about last night, but I can't handle the thought of being with someone who's unsure about being with me.”
***
Bret drove the five hours to the next show alone. It gave him a lot of time to think, but of course, the only person on his mind was Shawn. How in that last moment before Shawn left the room, he saw the blonde reach for the Orchids but left them sitting there in the end. The sudden spike of hope shot down.
There was no anger at Shawn; only sadness. Bret had let him down. And he didn't know how or when, but he’d have to fix it. For real this time.
It was late afternoon when he arrived at the arena for the next house show. He thought about looking for Shawn or the guys but he knew that if he showed his face around Hunter, Scott, Kevin, or even Kid it was no use. They were Shawn’s friends first.
Which left Bret to find Owen, Davey, and Jim backstage. Sudden anger boiled in his gut once he laid eyes on his little brother. He felt betrayed.
“Fucking asshole,” He dropped his bag and charged after Owen, pushing him into the wall, “Do you have any fucking idea what you've done?”
“What’s your problem?” Owen pushed back, but Bret had a grip on his t-shirt.
Jim and Davey moved in to separate the two, but Bret held tight.
“You had to tell him everything, didn't you?” Bret was seething.
“I was being honest, dickhead. Get off of me!” Owen gripped onto Bret’s wrists, trying to push him back.
Bret wouldn't hit his brother. He knew he wouldn't, but that didn't mean he wouldn't teach Owen a lesson.
The force of Jim, Davey, and Owen together finally forced Bret to let go and he was pushed back, hard.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Jim looked between the brothers, shocked at what he was seeing.
“You just wanted me to lie to him?” Owen questioned, ignoring what Jim was saying.
“You piece of shit, you told him I wasn't ready,” Bret’s voice cracked, anger and sadness all mixing together to create something much worse.
Davey and Jim were obviously confused but didn't interject.
“All I did was tell him what I got out of the conversation,” Owen snapped back, “Sorry for trying to save feelings.”
“You didn't save any feelings, Owen!” Bret didn't realize there were tears in his eyes until it was too late, “He left.”
“Who left, what’s going on?” Davey interjected.
“This is on you, Bret. I did what anyone else would have done,” Owen spat unapologetically.
It was too late, Bret was too overwhelmed. The frustrated tears fell down his face and he couldn't stop them. He was embarrassed and desperate to blame someone even though he knew Owen was right. The tears weren't there if he didn't acknowledge them, but Davey and Jim were already giving him sympathetic looks.
The belt, Shawn, how he’d been treating his friends and brother lately, it was all too much. He was made to handle the pressure; he was built to take hit after hit, but this time it all came crashing down.
Bret broke down and cried.
In such a short amount of time, he’d gained everything he’d ever wanted and still managed to mess it all up. His career was important to him but the belt would come and go, that’s how the beast operated.
In his few hours of doubt, Bret had managed to make Shawn feel like their relationship was one-sided. That all Bret cared about was some stupid belt, and not supporting or caring for his partner. God, he was such an idiot.
“What have I done?” Bret shoved the palms of his hands into his eyes, desperate to stop the tears. He couldn't be seen like this, his friends couldn’t see him lose control. He didn’t cry, he’d never cry.
“Hey man, it’s alright,” Jim put a hand on his shoulder, “Whatever it is, it’s gonna be okay.”
Bret continued to viciously wipe at the tears but they just kept coming. He couldn’t stop them. Even Owen didn’t seem angry anymore as he came over to comfort him.
Bret shook his head, “You guys shouldn’t have to deal with this.”
“Oh shut up,” Davey rolled his eyes, but there was a tenderness in his voice, “Yes we do.”
Where would he even begin to explain what was going on? Owen knew, but he didn’t know the events of last night or this morning. How both he and Shawn had said regrettable things, but Bret was the one who had done the most damage.
Owen made Bret look at him; he knew his eyes were red and puffy but his brother kept his gaze.
“Bret, Shawn never said anything about wanting to leave you,” Owen said as gently as he could, “He just wants you to be sure.”
“This is about Shawn?” Jim asked, still frustrated at being left out of the loop.
“I’ll explain in a minute,” Bret forced out, still doing everything could to try to push his emotions down, to no avail.
“Shawn told me everything, Bret. He doesn’t care about the belt, he’s hurt because he wants the real deal with you and he thinks you don't,” Owen explained.
Why wouldn’t Shawn just tell him that himself? He stewed on it for a moment, but then remembered how good he was at expressing his feelings and knew he had no standing. Wouldn't Hunter have said something? But then again, maybe he was just trying to protect his friend.
“I’m sorry for everything,” Bret’s voice sounded weak and he hated it, but the thought of Shawn wanting nothing to do with him was so much worse.
Owen pulled him into a hug, “You don't have to be perfect to deserve love, Bret.”
Such a simple statement, but he didn't know if he could believe it.

Hello! Could you please write some headcanons for Lord Heisenberg and reader who has the ability to have prophetic dreams? Reader has never told about their ability to anyone but Karl and still cannot fully accept it. But Heisenberg is not Heisenberg if he is not interested in such an unusual thing. Can he help reader embrace their unique gift of seeing prophetic dreams? Thank you!
Oh that's such an interesting idea and what a wonderful gift to possess! I'm overjoyed to be writing about it and I hope you enjoy 💕
Pairing: Karl Heisenberg x Reader (Gender Neutral) [Resident Evil: Village]
Warning: SPOILERS for RE Village, Mentions of human experimentation and PTSD, Crying
Genre: Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Fluff
Summary: see request above
Karl had always known you were a part of the chain of experiments as well
That's what originally got you two bonding
However, apart from surface-level understanding on that common ground, you never dug deeper in conversation
He could tell you would rather not recall or mention those dark times
Which is why he never knew what to think - the reason you, on first glance, appeared to be powerless even after undergoing the procedures
He had a hard time believing you were a failed experiment cause he knows better than anyone how Miranda dealt with those
But without visible alterations to your human form or any obvious powers, he had a reason to believe you were an escapee Miranda never bothered to retrieve
He'd offered you a room at the factory, forming an alliance to keep you both above the tide of the witch's wrath
Which is why he was soon given a glimpse of your powers when one night he was awoken by your screams
Upon investigating he found you were still asleep and, as carefully as he could, he approached you and shook you awake
Your limp body, covered in cold sweat, fell into his arms, your tears dampening the sleeve of his shirt
Through tears, you informed him of what you saw in your dream - the day of reckoning, as you'd called it
The day an outsider would step into the village and commence a slaughter of its people
"He'll....he'll hurt you, Karl!"
Putting two and two together, Karl could almost smile to himself, proud of you for your gift
But the more you talked about it through the night, the more he realized you were far from proud of it yourself
"It's not normal! It's not something I wanted! I didn't want or deserve what happened to me. This is in no way compensation for ruining my life!" You'd argued, hugging the blanked close to your chest
Suddenly, the metal bed lifted with you still on it, causing you to yelp
"This isn't normal either, Y/N. But it's fulfilling knowing that I could jab a metal pipe in Miranda's heart with just a thought if I wanted to."
He carefully settled the bed back on the floor, "And you can foresee events and bend them to your liking."
You'd never put it that way yourself
You only saw your gift as a curse bestowed upon you by a horrible person under horrible circumstances
"These powers, gifts, they make us better for the time we spent being tortured. All the times we felt helpless. Now we're not so helpless, are we?"
When seen through that context, coming to terms with your gift didn't seem so hard
And knowing you possibly saved Karl's life by telling him about your dream, it makes it practically all worth it
