i think the day i stopped following these cardinal (digital) art rules from deviantart or whatever is when my art got infinitely better. like things like Dont shade with black/always shade with purple, Dont use airbrush, Never EVER trace anything etc arent inherently wrong as they are based on actual techniques that work. its just that when theyre simplified to this degree and applied regardless of art style/end goal theyre absolutely useless.... theyre made with this very specific lineart-flatcolors-celshade comic/anime style in mind and aimed at like 12 year olds drawing like warrior cats or whatever. and even then its still better to (try to) learn how light/shadow etc actually works

He just you know..its not really obsessive but more of actual feelings. Even if other pastas fell in love with your character too, then Jack would be a bit diffrent and at first fell for who you are and not what you look like! Donnie hasn't been okay this whole fic, but he's especially not okay right now. And with everything going on, Raph and Donnie haven't really had time to work out that big blowout fight that happened between them. Sure, Leo bullied them into apologizing, and they both meant what they said. But they still haven't really had a time to fully work through what happened with just them, without meddling from Leo and Mikey.

Donnie's dealing with a mix of guilt and the leftover adrenaline of "I almost committed murder for real" and he needs help right now. Donnie seems to distance himself from Raph's babying more than the others, but at the end of the day that's still his big brother, and Donnie is still going to go to him when he needs just the right brand of comforting that only his big bro can provide.

After everything is over, Raph and Donnie are definitely going to take some time to properly mend their relationship back up. Not that it was ever truly broken, of course, but they need to have a real talk. But this is the first real overture between them: Raph will always be there when one of his little brothers is in trouble, and Donnie having the trust to let Raph in when he's this vulnerable is a big deal.

tl;dr it was really important to me that Raph be the one to comfort Donnie here. Too bad we don't actually get to know what they said because Leo didn't eavesdrop on their conversation haha

Leo stood stock still, watching his brothers cuddle on the medbay floor. Okay, so not all touch is bad. Just me.

so, in POSTAL 1 (1997), theres this whole thing where, if you look at postal dude's voicelines from Rick Hunter, iirc (my memory is a bit rusty) theyre labeled with "demon", and his death/pain sounds are voiced by Vince Desi and arent labelled as such. its also heavily implied that postal dude is TERRIFIED and scared, but then his voicelines are him making snide and mocking remarks. it has been implied that he may be "possessed by a demon" but also that he has multiple mental conditions.

now, in POSTAL: Brain Damaged, this becomes extremely obvious. we are now more into the future, and Dude has to fight against other dude inside his own head. Other dude is the "demon" from postal 1997.

(and um. after this he gets shot in the head by postal dude, and "dies" but ill get to that.) (i know alter death isnt real, but us, along with other systems weve seen, have said that in headspace , an alter for example may look like they are dead or something happened to them, but that didnt actually kill them and they arent dead. it has been said this is usually a stress thing, or a coping mechanism. we have done stuff like this before.) so i dont believe other dude is dead. some thoughts before the next boruto chapter comes out so i remember what to keep an eye on

sasuke's status: hes not with boruto, though boruto has his sword and cloak. so is he alive and just stayed behind or is he dead or a secret third thing? it is said that code and boruto fought two years prior to boruto's return to konoha (so a year after he fled) but boruto was helpless during the fight, so it would make sense that sasuke would have been the one to actually fight code. did code kill sasuke? (would make sense since even with his 6 tomae rinnegan he got stomped on by ishiki and code is stronger than ishiki). on that note, sasuke might have been the one to blind code in one eye

sarada's ms: we haven't seen what her ms can do yet (my money is on some form of powerful genjutsu on the same level as tsukuyomi or kotoamatsukami that could probably counter omnipotence but an attack type ms would be cool too) but the biggest issue for sarada is that one way or another she is going to go blind in at least one eye, since sasuke (if he is even still alive) would only be able to give her one eye

claw grime with the rinnegan: why was a claw grime sporting a rinnegan?? the only rinnegan left in existence was sasuke's, before momoshiki stabbed him in the eye?? so how the hell did that happen. also it could talk? im betting kawaki didn't actually kill it and that it will be making another appearance so i'm sure that will be explained. i've seen some people theorize that it might actually be sasuke or maybe a regular claw grime fused with sasuke's dna but would that be enough to produce a rinnegan? its a stretch imho. tho it might just be sasuke, which would explain why he isn't with boruto, but then why would boruto be trying to give code a way out?

himawari: right before the time skip daemon saw something special in her and, considering she's training bc she wants to help boruto despite her own memories being altered, im sure she'll play a big role (not like huge, cause its kishimoto we're talking about but..you know) plus she has the byakugan and she's hopefully been training in gentle fist (which would be one of the few things that could actually take down kawaki since its taijutsu). ALSO! she might awaken the tenseigan (bc what was the point of the last if that dojutsu was never gonna be talked about again??) cause lets be real the only way to be relevant here is if you have a dojutsu or something like sage mode or karma (the latter often granting you a dojutsu anyway)

shikamaru: was he the best choice for hokage? probably not, i still think sakura or kakashi should have worn the hat or, hell, maybe even tsunade, but this is a new world and there's new technologies. he might be able to compensate for his physical weakness with scientific ninja tools

kakashi, yamato and sakura: where are they? sakura has made very few appearances in part 1 and has never been heard of again. kakashi has not made a single manga appearance since the land of hot springs. yamato is, im assuming, still watching orochimaru but why wasn't the mokuton user called back to konoha when the otsutsuki reappeared?? especially with the threat of the ten tails? i know moegi also has mokuton (even tho it was never explained how she acquired it, as i doubt she has creation of all things lmao) but isnt two better than one?

mitsuki: obviously all of mitsuki's feelings for boruto have transferred onto kawaki bc of omnipotence, but you can tell something is off. even after three years since eida used omnipotence (meaning the new memories should have cemented in everyone's brains) mitsuki is starting to doubt that kawaki is his sun. i predict hes going to try and kill boruto only to realize he is his sun and somehow snap out of eida's ability. or at least hes going to follow boruto regardless of what his memories tell him, sorta like sasuke

Would you mind talking a bit about how y’all and your partner system interact together? We’ve never really heard others’ experiences with two systems in a relationship and it’s tough to work out on top of all the other brain chaos!

Yeah sure!

The first few years we were both very heavily focused on individual alters and their individual relationships, we got together in 2014 and at that point weren't super far into our recovery or understanding our systems so we did have quite a "we're separate people" view at the time but things have evolved a lot since then as we've worked on healing and understanding our systems (and trauma).

Generally we see ourselves now as collectively in a relationship, we've lived together for most of our relationship (after being friends on tumblr for 2.5 years and would later meet up every so often) and that's impacted how our relationship evolved. When we're both CDID it makes it really hard to actually keep up with the individual connections, especially when amnesia made it hard for even specific alters to remember who they had or hadn't met, let alone started dating lol. So we eventually just figured it was easier to say that we're collectively in a relationship (ofc exceptions for those who don't want to be for any reason).

In the start we used to fuss over each other a lot and we used to try to fix everything. But a big part of our healing (for both systems) has been not making ourselves responsible for everything and it's benefited our relationship a lot to know we can be having a bad time without the other stressing out over making it okay. We can now just be like "I'm having a shit time" and we'll ask if there's anything the other can do and if not we'll just make sure we don't make it worse if possible. We give each other space easier without taking it personally or needing to check in every 3 seconds. It helps a lot now we know that the other system isnt going to bend over backwards to attempt to fix it.

We've also had to learn to not react negatively because of trauma - we can't blame each other for triggers coming up and we've learned to be more responsible for our actions and reactions. We've never really got into arguments or anything, disagreements are usually small things that aren't massively important, and I think that's because we've learned to manage our trauma responses better which allows us to step back from situations and also be more honest with each other in a calm way.

Honestly a lot of the time being systems isn't as much of a focus as it used to be in general. Our interactions have become more about just doing what we can to be happy and enjoy our lives together. I guess you could say that being trauma survivors has become more of the important part in that we do what we can to create new, better experiences to help with healing and depression. We fill our space with things we love and we spend time together doing what we enjoy, so much of the time we're just vibing together quietly in the same room watching TV together, or we'll just be in separate rooms playing games, or we'll cook together. Our life has become more normal in a lot of ways and we focus on finding the joy in having that normal life - even grocery shopping together has become something that just makes us feel really content and happy.

Our systems are still obviously part of the relationship in a big way, and some alters I think have more "central" relationships where they've built very intense connections with alters in the other system but they're more like the pillars that hold everything up.

I don't know really if this is the kind of thing you were asking to hear about but please feel free to ask other things if you want to! I guess a lot of it comes down to "trauma recovery has strengthened our relationship in many ways"

I LOVE THEM!!!!!!! i hc that eclipse isnt one whole robot, but its a state of being where sun and moon are both comfortably, equally in control of the body. so like ... in a WAY they could seem blended into one whole ai, but theyre both still in there, and have moments of one overtaking the other, while still as "eclipse".

13. thoughts on pre-glitch sun?

I feel like pre glitch Sun was juuust starting to get a bit overworked and burnt out, like right before the virus (and afterwards, it jsut got worse and worse). i think the DCA are genuinely good at taking care of kids, they just slip up often and arent absolutely perfect at it (unlike how they would be, if they were actually made to be caretakers and not theater animatronics). sometimes Sun is too loud, having to constantly remind himself to lower his voice when around more meek kids in the daycare.

he definitely has his moments where he needs to correct himself and remember that he is taking care of young kids, but all in all, i feel like Sun was pretty good at taking care of the kids (much better than he was when he was first moved to the daycare, since i can imagine he was VERY, VERY BITTER about being moved from the theater, but its not like being a theater animatronic was synonymous with despising children, so he wouldn't HATE them or anything yk ??)

14. thoughts on pre-glitch moon?

YKNOW I WONDER does moons voice sound like that bc of the virus, or is that just his voice ? nonetheless, i feel like Moon was good with his job, and maybe a bit better than Sun, only bc i feel like handling naptime would come with less struggles than daytime activities.

Moon was probably so much more gentle, less hunched over and 'scary-looking' when he moved, and rather than punishing kids for not sleeping he just ... actually helped them sleep. yknow ? whether its holding and rocking some of the younger kids to help them sleep better, or maybe one of the kids has something on their mind that wont let them sleep, i feel like Moon was actually really good at his job.

im firm on believing the DCA is actually good at taking care of kids due to what cassie says about the AR sun/moon plushies!! theyre good at their job!!! to a degree LOLLLL

15. do you interpret sun and moon as two sides of the same person, or truly two separate beings in one body? does it matter?

i interpret them as two separate beings in one body!! i like this interpretation, it feels more fun to work with and is oddly cathartic? emotional? interesting? theres just so much emotion that comes with sharing a body with an entire other identity, knowing that you and them are tightly knit together, whether you want to be or not, because no matter what, you have them, and they have you, and you're stuck with one another. and yes, you and them are different, but you bleed into one another at some parts, at some angles the yellow and blue smudge, and sometimes you struggle to see where 'you' starts, and 'they' begin.

i love love love thinking about how they experience sharing a body with one another, how they maneuver the world and their thoughts. ITS SO FUN!!! THEY MAKE ME SICK.

ok in all seriousness. And ill try to keep this as short as i can. theeee lz experience is hearing them play live, rather than the studio recordings. This may sound weird to hear from a guy born 20 years after lz stopped doing shows lol but theres a LOT of material out there that u can watch/listen to if u wanna get (what i assume is a fraction of) the experience. Probably the easiest thing to find and in best quality (though in my exp the quality of online streams is still atrocious, maybe theres some hq torrents though?) is “the song remains the same”, a concert film of three dates they played at MSG in 1973. but theres also videos floating around of their concerts at Royal Albert Hall 1970 and Earls court 1975 (you can check yt for these) plus a few odds and ends here and there (im a big fan of this tv appearance in france 1969, though this was super early on so their performance “style” isnt yet well defined, esp wrt plant, but the actual playing is still peak imo)

as far of audio-only live recordings go, theres of course the album version of TSRTS, the BBC sessions album (of various radio appearances they did through the years), and the album called “how the west was won” with live versions of many of their more popular songs taken from a couple dates in california in i believe 1972. These are all on spotify or yt or wherever else u listento music. Theyre also really well mastered (and remastered, and re remastered…) bc Jimmy Page is anal like that. So even if theyre live theyre great quality and u can hear every instrument distinctly.

ALSO theres like a million lz bootlegs out there, which is like its own niche subfandom(?). A bootleg is an illegal recording that fans made back in the 70s and then spread around and/or sold for money. the digital versions of many of these are available on yt and archive.org but theres also a huge marked of selling them, the og 70s vinyls are especially prized. idk much about lz bootlegs bc i never could listen to a single one all the way through as all the noise bothers my brain lol so if anyone reading this does and has tips please share<3

I spoke about live stuff bc in my opinion, and also according to members of lz, fans, various music critic type people, basically everyone agrees lol lz studio songs were just kind of the first iteration of what would then mutate and stretch into a more loose, longer, live experience. Imo lz, studio or live, is some of the best music ever made point blank period, but its definitely not for everyone, in that you have to be able to get in that classic rock/prog rock* type of mood of songs lasting anywhere from 6 minutes studio to 35 minutes live, and taking you on this weird journey with ebbs and flows, rather than having a tight structure that is easier to follow and listen to like all pop music ever. i mean this in an entirely value neutral way: a pop song, whether from 1965 or 2015, is easy to listen to bc IT carries YOU through the listening experience, whether you want to or not, whereas for instance a 20 min version of dazed and confused live requires you to willingly be there. Its not work or effort, exactly (at least not to me) but it definitely requires a different type of attention.
