Hey, whats your story? I’m curious how ya became Lin-Manuel Miranda’s fan 😄
STORY TIME!
ok anon, so the thing is, i've heard about this guy before, i've been familiar with some of his stuff, but i was never really interested (shame on me. I KNOW).
it changed a little bit when i heard about encanto (2021) for the first time and actually fell in love with the soundtrack before i even saw the movie. i remember i even learned how to play "we don't talk about bruno" on ukulele lol. the soundtrack was actually the reason i decided to watch it (and i knew nothing about the plot, this was the first time something like this happened to me). i totally loved it of course and i was truly obsessed for a while (i just wasn't loud about it). not even with the movie but with the songs. and of course i knew who wrote them.
so i've been planning to watch hamilton for a very long time and this thought just came back to me this year when my bestie started fixating on the little mermaid (2023) and she was actually the one who told me lin is writing some songs for the soundtrack. we were both so hyped. i remember i didn't know that much about him back then but i slowly started falling in love with his music and after seeing the little mermaid i was just like OK IT'S TIME FOR HAMILTON NOW. first i listened to some songs and i loved them so much i eventually decided to watch the play, so i did that and... oh boy, i knew i was fucked.
honestly, anon, i don't know if anyone even knows about this but the night i saw hamilton for the first time was also the worst night of my life (some personal shit happened) and after that i decided to focus my whole energy on this new fixation which helped me get through the hardest period of my life. and it's not only hamilton, it's mr miranda himself. i literally fell in love with his beautiful mind, i think i will never get tired of his music, both hamilton and in the heights are my comfort soundtracks now. i could talk about him for hours. i could also watch him talk for hours. so i know i am very loud about my love for him but i don't think that's ever going to change and i'm not even sorry. he is the love of my life.

my brain is saying 141 with a reader that sees dead people. like they notice how respectful she is to the dead. when she kills she moves the bodies, sometimes says a small prayer to herself. they see her looking at things that aren’t there. “Did you see that? Never mind.” or she mentions she feels something weird in the air, or something wrong. talks to the team about the sleep paralysis she gets, always leaving out the grayish dark figure that accompanies her on those nights.
She’s never told anyone until she got drunk enough to were she’s literally laughing saying
“oh yea i see dead people.” And the guys obv think she’s joking and egg her on about said dead people she sees.
but then she tells them about the entities that follow them, the people they’ve killed, always following them around. some are very angry, she feels their malicious intentions. ends up describing them in grave detail, they way they looked, what they wore, the last words they spoke before her teammates pulled the trigger. Something that only THEY would know.
“oh man, let me tell you about Gilbert my sleep paralysis demon. I swear he’s been visiting me more and more recently.”

I feel like many people have a fundamental misconception of what unreliable narrator means. It's simply a narrative vehicle not a character flaw or a sign that the character is a bad person. There are also many different types of unreliable narrators in fiction. Being an unreliable narrator doesn't necessarily mean that the character is 'wrong', it definitely doesn't mean that they're wrong about everything even if some aspects in their story are inaccurate, and only some unreliable narrators actively and consciously lie. Stories that have unreliable narrators also tend to deal with perception and memory and they often don't even have one objective truth, just different versions. It reflects real life where we know human memory is highly unreliable and vague and people can interpret same events very differently

I think a lot about Leo standing up for his brothers in the things that really matter to them.
Like- Leo is the one who immediately pushes Mikey and Donnie into finding Raph the second it’s clear that their oldest brother is missing because he knows Raph can’t handle being separated like that.
Leo is the one who stands up for Mikey when Mikey wants to go on a solo mission, actively vouching for him and being the one to convince Raph into letting Mikey go, because being independent and proving himself just as capable of standing on his own two feet as everyone else means so much to Mikey.
And Leo defends Donnie’s honor in particular when his brothers’ intelligence is insulted because Leo is well aware of how important Donnie’s smarts are to him - and how important having those smarts valued and acknowledged is as well.
All this goes right into just how well Leo knows his brothers. For as much as he’ll tease or fight with them, he knows them, and he loves them.

M’Baku in Wakanda Forever is proof that you can give a Marvel character funny moments while also giving them emotional depth without taking away from the heart of the movie (and actually adding to it)
