I need Belphie to exist so he can come knock my ass out so I can go to sleep, I want to sleep but my body apparently thinks otherwise and I don't like it

Mc sometimes has trouble sleeping, the cause can range from nothing to a whole bunch of stuff happened and they still have to much energy that makes em feel not tired

Whenever this happens and Mc knows/wants to go to sleep they'll go to Beel and Belphie's room

This kind of thing has happened before quite a few times and Belphie has given permission to Mc that if they can't ever sleep and he isn't already sleep snuggling with them, then they are allowed to go to his/Beel's room or the attic and wake him up ever so slightly

He actually loves when they come to him for some sleep aid cause he gets the brag about helping them, having a cuddle buddy, and there's also the morning after where his brothers scramble to find Mc because they weren't in their room just to find them cuddled up with Belphie (the smirk he wears on his face when they walk into his room ✋️)

Of course he doesn't want Mc to have those types of nights, he doesn't want them to have a difficult time getting sleep, especially with all the craziness that happens daily, but he does enjoy the rare nights when those nights do happen

And no he doesn't make it to where they can't sleep, he let's it happen naturally

Once getting to the twins' room Mc will just crawl in bed with Belphie and will move him to where their chin is on his head and wrap their arms around him

He is big living cow plushie, fight me on that but not really

Belphie will either wake up slightly or just sense Mc's presence, either way once he knows they're there, he knows what's up and starts helping his precious human get the restful sleep they deserve

If he thinks too hard, Joel’s triumphant scream pierces the air along with the axe buried in his chest. If he thinks too hard, the scars on his arms turn back to the flame they once were, setting his clothing alight as he screams in agony. 

But They want blood, and who is he to deny Them? Who is he to deny protection to those he couldn’t save before? (He knows he’ll betray them to live anyway.)

The sick smile disappears as he’s faced with the ghost that has haunted him daily since the beginning. 

“Scar.” 

“One more time?” Scar wears his own tired grin, just as sick as Grian’s, and far more bitter. 

“One more time.”

There’s no response–there never is, and hasn’t been in months. All that’s left to keep him company are the tumbleweeds, blowing past him, and the mocking, empty vacation houses he’d invited the others to build in the hopes someone would come keep him company.

“Least I won’t be alone, if I go…” Somewhere, there’s laughter, a call from his rancher and respect he’d forgotten he could have. 

That’s all it takes.

He tries to ignore the message for several hours, although it taunts him with every glance down to the communicator, seeing others log off Hermitcraft. Etho. Grian. Scar. Tango. Cleo. Ren. Impulse. 

No, no, not this time. He doesn’t want to go, not when he’s sure Impulse has a matching scar through his chest where Bdubs’ sword betrayed him twice-albeit, on accident the final time. Etho’s long gone–of course he’d go–and Cleo, for reasons well beyond him. Far more hours pass, before he breaks–

“...fine!” 

(He never really had a choice. He’s not proven himself beyond failing those he swore loyalty to, and he won’t rest until then.)

Ok! You've convinced me! If I want to be part of this community, I should explore the source material. I don't know if I'll like the artform, but if nothing else it's a cultural juggernaut I can research. My mom grew up watching Batman the Animated series, so I know that's an entry point I can try out, but I do like webcomics and manga, so I know that I might like comics better. It's an odd criteria, but is there a batman comic I can start with that's aesthetically pleasing?

Ooo aesthetically pleasing? That’s one I haven’t heard before. I’ll throw you a handful of choices of my favorite pretty comics!

Also I do 100% reccomend Batman The Animated Series which is my favorite interpretation of Batman to this day as it is for many, that and Justice League and Justice League United are WONDERFUL gateways too! (My favorite animated DC series of the time is Superman The Animated Series tied with BtAS)

I always recommend in order: Batman Year One, Batman Long Halloween, and Batman Dark Victory as it’s how I got into Batman in the first place and it’s a pretty good jumping off point. They also have movies of all 3.

mAN ok this is hard because aesthetic comics are SUCH a personal preference. Comic artists will constantly change around all the time. The current Batman/Superman Worlds Finest comic run is INCREDIBLY aesthetically pleasing and pretty as it’s drawn by Dan Mora so that could be a good go to.

- The Dark Knight Returns. It’s has a very fun gritty artstyle that I adore and it’s a comic that changed comics as we know it.

- Batman Universe is a wonderfully fun comic and his artstyle is fun so definitely check that one out.

- All Star Superman (2005-2008) has… ok artwork. But you get used to it and it’s story is one of the best written for Superman modern day.

- JLA Tower of Babel. Art is nice and the story is about Batman’s contingencies falling into the wrong hands. Good shit

Onto some Elseworld stories that aren’t canon but I LOVE the artstyles:

- Batman White Knight’s artstyle is BEAUTIFUL but isn’t a very good interpretation for your first time reading comics as it isn’t normal characterization of everyone.

- Batman Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth drawn by Dave McKean. It isn’t my favorite comic with it’s very edgy “hey what if batman is insane” (which yeah no shit he is insane) but the artstyle is uncanny and disturbing and beautiful.

- Kingdom Come. You have to know a bit about comics beforehand, I’d just recommend reading an article or blogpost critiquing 90s comic books, and behold the genuine beauty and glory that is this story. Painted by Alex Ross it’s one of the most beautiful comics out there.

They’re available online, your local library, or at your local comic shop! I hope you have a blast checking out the cool things comics have to offer!

so i know i was just on here freaking out abt our broken down car last week and here’s an update: the battery was fried so i ended up spending my entire paycheck buying a new one ❤️ there’s something else deeply wrong with it that could kill it at any moment but at the moment we have no choice but to deal with it bc it costs $1300 to fix

anywayyy so i am the only person in my household working because my mother & brother are both disabled and are having a hard time finding jobs which means we are consistently extremely tight on money. which also means we haven’t been able to buy groceries in about 2-3 weeks and now we can’t get gas either. the point of this is to e-beg sorry but idk what else to do lmfao we legit have nothing to eat 😭😭 even enough to at least get gas or order pizza to last a day or so is appreciated
