i did it!! i actually started a coding project for fun 🎉 now i just need to, ahem, finish it 🙈

the last time i wrote ANY code for fun was when i was still learning to code for the first time in Khan Academy's Processing JS environment, so of course this project has to use p5.js for the nostalgia 🥺 but it's main purpose is to give me the opportunity to code a bunch of cute lemons in a gif-ed pixel art(?) style.

i drew a crappy little mock-up on my phone with my thumbs 👍👎 so you can kinda see ✨ the vision ✨ (if you squint and tilt your head):

now,,, colors have historically been "ok, whatever" territory for me, but i'm looking to (hopefully, slowly) change that as i work through this project...

yes, i know the green doesn't match my mock-up and i'm not even 100% convinced i even like the color in the mock-up, but that's not important FOR NOW. the main thing i wanted to get down was that the green part on top is colored by p5.js so that i can dynamically draw and animate the lemons on top of it while the color everywhere else is just plain CSS background-color

also toying with the idea of a softer off-white color for the div (the center box thingy) instead of smack-dab-in-your-face just the total absence of color that i kinda hate 🤢 idk if changing the green will change how the white looks, we'll have to see~

💌: overall pretty excited for this project since i rarely get to do creative design things at work and i don't often feel like i have a lot of agency — i just have to build whatever is needed. this project is purposely designed to be kind of useless and unnecessary because it's just so freeing that way 🕊️ it's also a welcome procrastination activity when i really should be studying my psychology coursework 🤭

BUT. in the years since vale's has developed a new love interest: the BARONESS. who i refuse to develop. (sorry women.) and everyone says they are to be married....so marc turns up and they did NOT tell vale who the new governess would be but he's at the end of his rope with his insane kids (he started adopting after him and marc imploded to fill his time but they were always supposed to do that TOGETHER. and its overwhelming). so marc's in the house with his ex and his ex's kids and it’s awful and awkward and its soooo close to what they both wanted and so far at the same time. they REFUSE to talk about it and how they used to mean EVERYTHING to each other… but over time things gradually begin to thaw. marc is so good with the kids. the house starts to feel alive again with marc’s big dumb laugh…. vale starts joking with marc how he used to. but every time marc lets himself think just maybe… the baroness is there. and its killing him.

so it all comes to a head when the kids make vale throw an extravagant ball adn marc puts on his best (still fraying...) tux and looks so handsome and vale cant keep his eyes off of him all night. the children (parent trap mode: level expert) make them dance and literally everyone. and i mean everyone (sorry to the baroness). can see that they are so so in love that it is SICKENING. please go look at these gifs from the movie i think about them all the time. like marc and vale's bodies press together and its so warm and their faces are so close and there's a moment adn they lean in... and then marc sees the baroness watching and its like someone poured ice water down his spine.... he cant ruin this for the kids they deserve a family!!!! and he runs away. leaves in the night without saying goodbye. returns to the nunnery so vale can get married without him...

The idea of a character who comes off as harsh but deep down cares more than anyone, or a friend who is a bit hard on you but because she loves you, is extremely common worldwide, but Japan even has the tsundere archetype and such.

The idea with Rei and Usagi is that Rei loves her and wants her to succeed so she pushes her. It's very very obvious in the moments where it matters that Usagi is Rei's best friend, and their friendship in the 90s anime is actually extremely well-done.

In that screenshot at the end someone says their relationship develops into 'sisterhood' and you make fun of it but idk if you have siblings... 'sisters' is very apt. They push each other's buttons but they know each other inside and out and that makes them closer. Even though they bicker it's a relationship founded on deep trust, understanding, and affection.

I don't dislike your blog overall and some of your criticisms of the 90s anime are very valid but I think you're wrong on this one. In S1 their relationship does develop a lot from just fighting bc they don't like each other to growing attached, Rei comes to be very fond of Usagi. In later seasons this foundation has already been laid so while Rei does continue to be mean to Usagi it very much is with the understanding that she loves her very dearly. The Rei-Usagi relationship is one of the things the 90s anime did extremely well.

Last night when I did that post, it actually come spur of the moment since I was in Sailor Moon Stars looking for a particular scene for a friend of mine so we could discuss. I was watching some of the episodes of Stars when this scene

So I was like " Hold up They supposed to get character development but she is still calling her a crybaby. She is still saying the same thing they she had said to her since the beginning. If they supposed to be evolving and developing then that should be something she should stop calling her because she knows how upset and irritated she gets but she still does it. And for what? to get under her skin. We had 170 plus episodes where they went through at lot of shit together, died for each other and still calls her a crybaby? Even tho she knows Usagi wear her heart on a selve? "

So that's why I decide to do that photoset which I wasn't even looking to do because I was looking for something else dealing with Stars. From the beginning of the series which yes they don't like each other and she's calling her a crybaby to the end of the series which she is still calling her a crybaby.

It didn't take me that long to find all of those scenes that she say nasty things to her. I know they have moments where they show them being nice which one in particular is when Chibiusa is black lady and she is comforting her.

Which is a really good scene.

Also my fave scenes in season one when they talk about Mamo and she tells her to be happy with him.

Also in a scene in Stars when she trying to stop her from going after Mamo by herself and fails. Of course in Season one finale when she is the last one standing to fight a DD girl and the things she say to Usagi is heartfelt.

I know about those scenes but they are too many scenes like the scenes I showed in that photoset. To the point that it's easier to find scenes that Rei saying some nasty shit to Usagi and it's harder to find scenes where they have nice moments. Which that shouldn't be the case at all. It shouldn't took me like 10-20 minutes to find a lot scenes that she just saying some mean shit to her. Which it literary took me 45 mins to put that photoset together. I started put it together at 11:29 pm and I posted it at 12:25 am. I was going to put some more pics in that photoset but I exceeded the limit of 30 pics. So minus the screenshot that was from a FB group and Rihanna gif that was 28 pics of Rei saying mean things to Usagi.

That 28 pics WAY to many.

The main reason why I stopped watching S besides Luna calling her an idiot because every single time Usagi opens her mouth her comes Rei saying something mean. To the point I am saying over and over again " Why are you like this?" While sometimes Usagi go toe to toe with her , most of time it's not even necessary for even do that to Usagi. Most of times Rei may something to someone else and Usagi maybe backing her up.

Like why she had to do that? Was that necessary at that moment? No Especially when it was backing Rei up about telling them things that Mako is worried about.

Like why she have to be like this?

Like she always have her " Let's roast Usagi everytime she say something" on and never cuts it off unless the plot permits her to do so.

I am Aries as well so I know we have smartass mouths, are blunt, no nonsense and can be sarcastic but damn I know how to cut that off. I am not trying to pissed people off every single time I open my mouth. I know when to joke around with people and know who not to joke around with.

Also with my set of friends, I was considered the no nonsense but Mom of the group since I was oldest. They knew I don't play that but they knew I love them and push them. I would never say the shit Rei say to Usagi to none of my friends. Every person have a limit of what they take and I wasn't going to cross a line they would fuck up a friendship.

Rei feels like she wake up every day just ready to piss off Usagi with some mean shit because she doesn't like the way Usagi acts.

As for siblings, I do have siblings. I have an older sister and brother which makes me the baby of the family. Yes we do roast each other. We have certain jokes that we say to each other and go back and fort but we have a limit. If we say something out of pocket to each other we going to let each know that this joke hurt and it's below the belt and it will never be said again. I love my brother and sister a lot and I know they love me as well but majority over our realtionship is not us roasting each other to get a damn reaction out the other.

My realtionship with my older sister is one that I have a deep bond with. I love my sister to death and I know someone messes with me see will protect me and I will do the same for her. I know I get on her nerves since I am the baby and she get on mine but at the end of day if both of us are not laughing at the shit we say to each other, that's a big fucking problem. If we said something to other person that offends, we will tell each other, say that shit hurt and apologize which it will never be said again. My sister is really to check me if I say some off the wall shit which an older sister supposed to do. I will check her if she say something that supposed to be a joke but it hurt my feelings. I can come to her if I have a problem and she will push me to do what I need to do. She always have my back and I know she loves me.

Do anytime where Rei and Usagi say something to each other, are they laughing at what the other person has said? Do they realize what silly shit they are saying to each other and just fall to ground laughing?

I have seen most of the time that Rei say some shit and Usagi end up crying..

Because to me it's a not roast or ribbing if the person you are roasting are not laughing and not having fun as well.

When I am roasting with either of my siblings, we are going to make sure that all of us are on the ground laughing and having a good time. It's not a good time if the party doing the roasting is having a good time but the person who is receiving the roasting is not.

It more ways to show you love someone them 95% of the time you are roasting shit out of them with some mean shit to get a reaction out because you know you are getting to hit a nerve over and over again.

Rei is always saying something out of pocket and when Usagi say " Hey You are being meanie" she don't apologize she just double down more with something else hurtful.

Like in episode 94 when she want to be more of a wife to Mamo and they was at the concert, Mako apologize, Luna apologize but this what she says

All she had to do was say a simple "I'm sorry" but the writers got her playing " the tsundere" character so well they couldn't let her say a simple apology but she can say this to her which wasn't needed.

So to me no it's not a sisterhood. A sisterhood knows each other bounties and not push them.

A sisterhood knows that if this word hurt their sister they will stop using it and apologize.

Now in the manga, crystal, and most def PGSM it is a sisterhood.

Why you think it's so many fanfics of Rei betraying Usagi?

Fanfics of Usagi leaving the group and going to America because she was tired of Rei, Luna and the other girls treatment of her.

Which majority of the fanfics steam from the 90's portray of their " friendship" since the 90's anime was pretty much the first adaption most SM fans watch.

If they did have a sisterly bond you wouldn't have fanfics like that.

So you think that we're actually going to get significant quality and or quantity screentime for chenford in 5x05? I know they're in the synopsis and the last time that happened we got 501 but idk I'm very sceptical I feel like it's gonna be something basic like her talking to Ashley for time or something and that's it.

I understand why you’re skeptical and that’s completely okay, but I think the key to enjoying a good slowburn like Chenford is to expect good content for the sake of viewing the connection between two characters, not for the progress. And managing expectations, especially when it comes to The Rookie which features an ensemble cast and will have to balance screentime between a lot of people and stories, is so so SO important.

It’s also something I think the fandom kind of sucks at.

I say this with love! I really do! 😂 But I think there are very polarizing reactions from the Chenford fandom. A promo comes out, or a synopsis, or something is teased, and it goes one of two ways: either everyone loses their shit and bouncing off the walls because they think something MASSIVE is going to happen for Chenford, or everyone is completely bitter, reblogging gifs of clowns putting on their masks and ranting about how it’s “another week of bait.” Both of these are valid, and oftentimes are just the result of where they set expectations. It’s just… how people roll. But there is a middle ground!

Because right now, I AM fully expecting this episode to have loads of good Chenford content. Only I’m not totally expecting it to be a big step for them. Right now, they’re both still in relationships and still very adamantly trying to put space between each other for what they almost did. I’m thinking Tim’s injury could be a wake-up call for Lucy (and even for Tim himself) to stop that. I think that’ll maybe kickstart them into being close again, which would definitely be a realistic step forward to hope for, but I’m not expecting anything major and groundbreaking. Not yet, anwyway.

But I’m okay with that. I’m better than okay— I’m excited as hell for 5.05!! Some of the best Chenford scenes we’ve gotten have been scenes where it hasn’t marked a major development for their relationship but is rather reminding us all of why we love them: because of the trust that is there, because of the respect and affection and that truly beautiful connection that they have, that thing that just clicks when they’re together in a way that doesn’t happen with anyone else. Case in point: the dance scene at Nyla’s wedding, the hug scene after Tim visits his dad, the “save me a dance” line at Angela’s (almost) wedding, when she wakes up in the hospital after being buried alive. The list goes on. And what’s even better is that whatever we get in 5.05 will even TOP those kinds of scenes because now they’ve kissed. They’ve kissed TWICE and admitted to almost sleeping with each other, and there’s so much subtext to be captured in their moments that haven’t been captured before. So I think it’s going to be a great episode for them! It’s just all about managing expectations and preparing to be enthusiastic and happy about whatever we’re given.

Question is the legacy editor any good? I've never used it because I'm paranoid about it messing my posts up lmao but I'm curious

The short answer is yes. Legacy editor, the older way tumblr did posting, is in my opinion, the superior editor. I love the legacy editor. A lot. It is definitely superior and I'm sad staff has decided to slowly get rid of it.

However! With that said I've been pretty much exclusively using the beta post editor for the last like year when staff announced that they'd be eliminating the legacy editor eventually so I thought it'd be a good idea to get used to the beta editor. Which I suppose I did. I've gotten used to it and don't use legacy much at all anymore. I also wanted to use it because I got really tired of not being able to edit in mobile the posts I made on web using the legacy editor. With the beta editor you can edit across platforms which is soooo nice. (although it appears that in one of the apps many updates I can now edit a gifset I made today via legacy editor but not the posts I've made in the past using the legacy editor so who knows what's going with that).

But there's a lot of annoying things about the new beta editor that make it inferior to the legacy editor and I'm praying that staff will improve it. For starters, and probably my biggest complaint, is how awful it is to upload and rearrange images. It's so much easier in legacy editor to move images around. In beta the page moves when you start to move the image and it drives me CRAZY!!! I always end up putting the image in the wrong place because the page won't stop moving! Legacy is wonderful to arrange images. I do think the upload is slightly better in beta purely because it uploads multiple images in the order I select them where the legacy just puts them in whatever order it wants to and I have to remember what order I wanted my gifs in.

Legacy is also better because it actually differentiates between an image post and a text post. With the beta editor everything is technically a test post. So my gifsets are not considered an "image post". Some people have noted that the beta, since it's not an image post, it resizes the images a little and sometimes decreases the quality of the gif by doing that. I haven't really noticed that myself with my own gifs but doesn't mean it isnt happening.

The legacy editor also allows me to upload my gifs without stupid errors for no reason. Lately any time I upload more than 6 gifs at once I get an error message and have to upload them one by one. Its not because of size because they're always under 7mbs so I don't know why I can't upload them all at once. I hate it actually. And sometimes my gif will be under 10mbs (like 9.7mbs) and it'll tell me that the gif is too big. Excuse me tumblr but 9.7 is smaller than 10! I never had this problem in legacy.

The legacy editor is also better when it comes to using html, inserting links as text and not the stupid thing beta does where you paste the link and it becomes that stupid post preview thing that I hate, and oh my god is it awful for text blocks! When it first came out you couldnt select multiple texts blocks at all. You can now but it isn't the easiest. And it like expands when you do and makes it weird. Idk it's hard to describe. In legacy you can just...select all the text with no problems. Text blocks are treated like individual sections in the beta and make editing a major pain in the ass.

I also don't like thst apparently new xkit won't work in beta and you have to use xkit rewritten because fuck I don't want to learn how to use that one when I've been using new xkit for years but I guess I'm gonna have to now. I haven't been having any problems with xkit yet but who knows....

So yeah I think overall legacy is better. Beta Post Editor has some good things (I like the increased image upload limit, the editing tags is good) about it but there's so many problems. Unfortunately we're stuck with it so I've been sticking to using it exclusively to make the transition easier on myself. I do suggest becoming used to how it works and to just continue to provide feedback to staff about features we dislike or bugs we come across. Hopefully they'll listen and improve it.

first, i wanted to ask about the coma buck theory. i've only recently watched the show, i've been in the fandom for about a month (mostly lurking and reblogging gifs lol). since day one i've noticed that 'buck will go into coma in 6b' seems to be something a lot of people believe, so if you know, where did that theory come from? i personally couldn't think of anything in the show that seemed to point to that, and and i also didn't find any posts discussing this in any detail, it seems like a collective headcanon more than anything to me. but i'm definitely very curious, so if this is something that you can see happening, could you please share your thoughts?

also this second part of this ask is just me getting excited bc i saw you mention the 309 kitchen scene in a recent ask and i've been dying to scream about it to someone lol. because oh my god, right??? idk how intentional that was or maybe the actors just happen to have good chemistry, idk anything but i just know that i had the weirdest cognitive dissonance moment while watching that scene. like just, the way buck steps towards eddie, my entire body sort of braced in excitement for a kiss, and like, that moment lasted for only about a quarter of a second but i actually had to pause because while watching that scene i'd literally forgotten that they're not actually together, and i was just like. wait. what happened. what? and just. aaaaaaahhh it was such a great scene and they're just so great and perfect together and like if the writers weren't planning on their chemistry they've written themselves into a corner bc they're just so perfect for each other, literally the family they've chosen, and just. aaah i love them sm😅

So for the first part, I kind of explained my experience of seeing the coma!Buck theory taking shape in the fandom here.

As for the 309 kitchen scene, I love screaming about it, so yeeeeees, I'm glad we get to together! XD I personally am convinced that the 309 sexual tension was intentional. Why? Because the scene doesn't work without it. There's a joke they wanted to play, where they build our expectations towards some sort of an explosion between these two characters, but then instead of giving us that, they provide comic relief through letting a different kind of scene play out, a light-hearted one, comical in nature, that would make us smile (Buddifer playing video games together). But this only works if they REALLY build up the tension and if we REALLY ask ourselves whether there's going to be a blow up of some kind on our screens in a second. And while the scene plays around the idea that maybe Buddie will physically fight each other, we all know they were not. Buck had just apologized to Eddie again, he just showed how much he cares, and Eddie was visibly affected and moved by this, and their whole talk vibrates with how much they care about each other, I don't think anyone really believed they were gonna start punching each other. So if for the comic bit to work, the tension has to be real, and the aggressive/violent tension isn't, what made the comedy there work? The sexual tension. They HAD to turn to the implication of sexual tension, otherwise that whole thing falls flat. So yes, this is why I'm sure they did THAT intentionally. And your reaction, which you so perfectly described? It's not just yours. I went through it as well, and I'm sure we're not the only ones, because we were supposed to embrace for impact.

And I'm with you, I very much believe 911 has written itself into a corner. No one would ever work with either Buck or Eddie as well as the other one does. Eddie was originally supposed to be Maddie's Love Interest, but the second they changed course on that, they clearly built Eddie's introduction with Oliver and Ryan's chemistry in mind. They already saw enough of it to know that making us care about Eddie through Buck's eyes would work. So I'm also convinced if they wrote themselves into a corner, it's a corner of their own making, know what I mean?

i feel like making some like short responses to some things in the response to the ask before covering the question so here we go (imagine me doing that silly drumming on the desk that like hyper salesmen do. or something)

freaking hyped that i have the dahlia hawthorn seal of approval. like for real we are quite thrilled. we are quite hesitant with interacting with anyone so i am thankful for this. there will likely be an ask one day in dahlias inbox(most likely from Jupiter tbh) 

shaking hands on the switching thing. i think the worst time a difficult switch was like *trying* to happen was one of my drivers ed driving sessions. like in the middle of driving and my eyes are unfocusing and my brain is literal soup and that was a freaking moment for real. didn’t stop till i like got home and crashed. it also prompted me to think “hypothetically if i was a system perhaps and maybe that was a switch or SOMETHING”

okay and also that’s so interesting that there’s those tiny shifts in appearance for ya. i don’t know but it’s just interesting to hear an individual experience on stuff (for me it’s like a change in perception of my appearance. like i look different and feel different about how i look depending on who’s fronting. even if i look the exact same there’s something off in the brain and it’s so funky)

okay tbh yes. and it’s like uh. there’s multiple ways this sorta happens.

for starters i can very much tell when a period of time is going into the hashtag memory vault because i will have the worst memory of the events while they’re happening. most recently i can recall, i forgot in full basically everything about after 24 hours of it happening. everything i remember is what my sister said about it afterward. yippie!

however even smaller events i can sorta figure out that they’re going to be hashtag in the vault in the moment. it’s like our perspective feels small and maybe even blurry all around. and then even directly trying to recall events from within that moment are very choppy.

idk how to describe it but it’s there.

and! with some important information we’ve developed a system of like for fully logging information. so like an important memory we will sorta lock an image and singular thought into the brain regarding the event as a way to make sure everyone has a memory of the moment. this was a tactic we came up with long before realizing we were a system which is funny. 

so a good amount of my memories from like a while ago are singular faded images with like a sentence of thought. 

okay i realize this is even longer than before but i’m having the time of my life with talking about this hahdjfj okay yea 

i also did stop for like an hour to look on instagram and fell down a rabbit hole of small buisness making makeup brands. yea

Last night I also went to an award ceremony for some honor society which was way more fun than I thought it would be btw. My friend was the one who earned the award but I showed up for moral support!!! :') They had deep fried mac and cheese bits for vegetarians which felt strange, but I liked it and took a plate of it with me for another friend who was getting off work and missed the event

Stalker guy who is obsessive over his crush on me popped up 3 different times throughout the fucking entirety of me filming with my classmates (even they noticed his creepiness and pointed it out) and I eventually freaked him back out by following him to the restroom and demanding what the fuck he was doing on campus (to which he admitted he wanted to check on me which sounds considerate but no no no its creepy ... he will not even say a word and just stare until I choose to acknowledge him or not and I am tempted to choose the violent approach of smacking his skull so hard against a ceramic sink that the sink breaks).

I'm enjoying the silver linings.

I cry a lot but I've also smiled a lot too and been able to return some kindness to friends who needed it.

I visited that Japanese shop yesterday and the sweet lady gave me free sweets again. This time she literally pet my head before letting me go home and I blushed so hard. I don't even know her name but the small amount of physical touch from her was nice :') much needed... I feel like a stray cat that always walks in and she's so nice, treating me like I'm not a bother and giving me treats plus pets

Hmmmm, what else? I don't know what else I can share but I'm just in a sharing kind of mood rn. I'm going to try sneaking downstairs without offending anybody here with my disgusting state (no I am not actually disgusting but these people will shamelessly say so and shame me... :P whatever... Their leftovers are still in the fridge and I'm not saying shit but if I did that they would call me gross after it being over a week).

Oh I also I named my new laptop iPhonesSuck so now whenever I hop on their network, they can stalk that and get reminded that I hate them as iPhone supporters. I love the direction I'm going in.

I’m actually doing much better than I did years ago, idk I have a handle on things nowadays.

I sincerely doubt I’ll ever be able to save up that much for so long again, that was such a big achievement for me. Being able to spend so freely. This year I’ve mostly been looking into what hobbies to prioritize when I did have money available. When you’re young and were so used to barely having things- once you have access to that- you have a phase of impulsive spending or simply spending to make yourself happy because you suddenly could. I think a lot of people experience that at least once in their lives. Its like when you’re an adult you realize you can go out at 3 am and buy cake somewhere and eat it. I mean- it’s not a good choice but it made you happy. That matters.

Now looking back, I doubt I was cryptic LOL.
