sleepy make out session with katsuki!
Tumblr media
“this day feels like it’s never gonna end.” you whine, hiding your face in your boyfriends shoulder.
“WHY WAS TRAINING SO. LONG.” mina yells, dropping her head down on her arms.
it’s lunch. you and your friends just went through the worst training exercise.
“AIZAWA WAS TRYING TO KILL US, I SWEAR.”
“shut up. it wasn’t even hard.” katsuki boasted.
your friends are complain about katsuki before returning to their normal conversations.
“you’re such a liar.” you said quietly to your boyfriend.
he whips his head in your direction.
“what the hell is that supposed to mean?” he glares.
“i know you’re tired. i saw you huffing and puffing. don’t act like you’re slick.” you tease.
“oh shut up.” he grumbles and you laugh.
“if you just admit it i’ll let you take a nap with me after school.” you hold his hand under the table.
he looks at you and thinks.
“fucking hell. fine.” he said.
“fine… what?”
he glares at you.
“fine i was fucking tired. now let me nap with you.”
you kiss his cheek.
“that wasn’t so hard, was it?”
the day only feels longer at it continues.
“i can’t make the walk home, katsuki. just leave me here for dead.” you complain.
“it’s like a two minute walk, you baby. come on.” he drags you along into his dorm.
he flops on you immediately. pushing you back onto his bed.
“not yet, kats. i don’t wanna fall asleep in my uniform.” you pat his back, signalling for him to get up.
he groans.
“fine.” he stands up and pulls you with him before going to his closet and picking one of his t-shirts and sweat pants and throwing them at you. then he removes his clothes down to his boxers and tank top.
right after you finish changing he tackles you onto his bed.
“fuck. ‘m so tired.” he says, face buried in your neck.
“i knew it!” you squeal.
“yeah yeah, go to fuckin sleep.” he says while lifting himself to his forearms to give you a kiss.
you peck his lips but you get surprised when he deepens the kiss, obsessed with you and your lips.
your lips move together as one while your hands come to rest in his hair, making him groan softly.
he notices you’re struggling to breathe and unfortunately pulls away.
he moves on to your neck instead.
teeth nipping at your skin and soothing it with light brushes of his lips against your skin.
you sigh.
“that feels nice, baby.” you breathe out.
“mhm, ‘m still fuckin tired tho.” he pulls away from your neck to give one final peck (or two) to your lips.
he shifts down your body and rests his head on your chest.
“you got the best fuckin tits.” he says, sleepily.
you laugh. he’s only this transparent when he’s really tired.
“thanks, kats.” you weave your fingers through his hair and scratch your nails on his scalp lightly.
he groans, pecks one of your tits, then passed out from exhaustion.
“i love you, suki baby.” you sigh before drifting off into sleep.

Read "Suki, Alone". Liked it in general. But can they please, please hire someone who knows both the show's actual events and how to follow through on a character arc? Because guys. Guys. That comic is not implying about Suki what they meant it to be implying, and all because of literally one line.
So like. From a writer's standpoint:
What they meant to do: show Suki as a community-oriented person who cares for her people, and believes in everyone succeeding together.
As opposed to (spoilers): the thief girl they set her up in contrast with, who's pretty upfront and consistent on primarily looking out for herself. She betrays Suki for one (1) corn chip to improve her own life at the prison, no surprise.
But the problem is: they give Suki an inspirational line to the effect of "we're all working together and we'll all break out together"
You know
The thing she does not do in the show
So if both the show and this comic are canon, then instead of setting up a compare/contrast with the thief girl, they've just set up a comparison. One were Suki is arguably worse, because she's been leading a significant number of prisoners on with her "we'll all fight and win our freedom together!" business, only to straight up cut them out of the escape loop and abandon them, whereas the thief is only leading Suki on in the sense that Suki keeps telling her what it's morally correct to think and confuses snide replies with agreement
My dudes. My fellow writers. You people actually being paid for this. There were so many ways to fix those awful implications against our girl's character, the simplest of which would be to not include that line. Or they could have, you know, made it canon compliant with what actually happens in the show, so that this comic doesn't set Suki up as a betrayer instead of a community builder. Like... just send all her good prison buddies off to other prisons in the wake of the warden finding out they're colluding. Have it timed to be right before the next new prisoners arrive, thus setting it immediately before the Boiling Rock episodes, so Suki didn't have anyone left in the prison she'd want to take with her on a breakout. For bonus points, include a page or two of her and her Kyoshi warriors opening up the cell of one of her prison friends post-war, thus implying she's tracking down and actually fulfilling her promises. Maybe even show her doing the same with thief girl, who was established as being imprisoned on false charges anyway, and also showing that Suki is A) the bigger person, and B) willing to acknowledge her own role in mistakes (because I cannot emphasize enough how much thief girl was not hiding her own priorities, and it was Suki who approached HER with all this, not the girl ever doing anything special to weasel her way in) (this would also open up an opportunity for paralleling Suki's earlier in-comic mistake of not listening to one of her friend's very valid thoughts and feeling, which lead to the girl leaving their island alone pre-canon; a "seeing people as they are, not what you want them to be" moment)
Anyway yeah enjoyable enough for a quick read but another one for the "this can't be canon or the characters are So Much Worse than they were in the actual show" pile
At least Aang didn't promise to murder anyone in this one

I'm surprised at the hate that Sokka's character arc from NATLA is receiving. To me, Sokka's development and characterization was one of the strongest adaptations the series made.
In the original ATLA, Sokka's character arc revolves around him unlearning his own misogyny. He makes pointedly sexist comments throughout the early episodes like "Leave it to a girl to screw things up!", "There's no way a bunch of girls took us down!", etc.
Sokka's comments have a strong narrative purpose: they give a platform for women in the show (Katara & Suki mostly) to refute his attitude. Katara emphasizes traditional "women's work" (cleaning, cooking, sewing, etc), which forces Sokka to confront its inherent value. Suki is able to prove to him that women can fight too and he learns to respect female warriors. It's a great character arc and it's well-executed.
It's also characterization that is in direct response to the culture and feminism of the 90s and early 00s. The representation of women in the media at that time was...oof. It was not great. One-dimensional love interests whose only purpose is being saved by the male protagonist, mostly. Female protagonists were not as common, and certainly not ones who were depicted as being able to fight, and certainly not in cartoons. Female protagonists in animation were almost exclusively princesses.
ATLA was progressive in this regard. Katara was a complex female character in a time when there were not a lot of them, in media in general but especially in animation and kid's shows. (I grew up in the 90s; there were no characters like Katara in animation on screen for me.) ATLA incorporated the zeitgeist directly into the story, which is why we have Sokka learning to overcome his sexism in his interactions with Strong Female Characters.
If you go back and watch the original cartoon now, Sokka's sexism feels a bit dated. It's a very 90s, Girl Power, "girls can fight too" style of social commentary. It doesn't match with the media landscape of today. We've got 20 years of media with female superheroes behind us. If your message is "girls can fight too!" the response for the most part is going to be "yes, we know that. And?"
So imagine you're adapting the original ATLA for a live-action remake. You want to keep Sokka's character arc intact, but you want to update it for the 2020s. So what do you do? You look at the conversations that are happening today.
The 90s were about "girls can do everything boys can do", but the 20s are over that. The conversation is more about gender: gender expression, gender roles, gender dynamics. What does is mean to be a woman? What does it mean to be a man?
Sokka's character arc in NATLA is focused on this question: What does it mean to be a man? At the beginning of the series, it's his identity as a warrior that defines him. He needs to be the warrior, the protector, the leader. He's constantly trying to reaffirm this part of his identity, and it's completely tied up in his perception of his value as a man. Instead of his interactions with Suki being about "how could girls possibly be warriors", it shifts to Sokka saying "I'm ALSO a warrior" and trying to justify that to Suki (and mostly himself).
His arc over the series is about him accepting other aspects of himself and relearning how to define his masculinity. He can still have value as man without being the greatest warrior. He can still have value as a man by using his skills as an engineer. He can still have value as a man by offering compassion and kindness to others, like the little girl with the doll & Yue in her final moments. Instead of rigidly defining himself by a specific set of gender roles & expectations, he learns how to define himself through his own strengths and qualities.
I know there are a lot of people who are upset at this change to Sokka's characterization, and the most common thing I see is that it results in changes to Katara's character and her anger in response to Sokka's comments. I think there are valid criticisms to be made about how the show handled the adaptation of Katara's character, but I won't go there with this. In terms of Sokka and his characterization, it was well-done and thematically consistent with the original. It's not an exact port, and it never needed to be. It's still a feminist arc that centres on unlearning harmful misogynistic worldviews, but the focus has shifted from external (roles of women) to internal (his role as a man). And his journey is one that people would benefit from seeing represented.

What is your NUMBER ONE headcannon for each person in the Gaang (Katara, Zuko, Aang, Toph, Sokka, Suki [and Appa and Momo if you feel so inclined])
Katara: After the war, she goes back to the NWT to train with Yugoda and becomes a master healer as well as a master of the NWT fighting style. From there, she goes back to the Foggy Swamp Tribe and masters their bending style, too. With the help of Sokka, Zuko, and (in some headcanons) Hama, she also rediscovers SWT waterbending and not only masters it, but teaches it to the new benders in the SWT. By the time she leaves the SWT, there has been a school established where all bending styles are available for study. She's one of the few who actually has mastered them all, though.
Sokka: He is eager to return home after the war. He throws himself into infrastructure and policy revamps, and he almost singlehandedly staves off the soft colonization attempts of the NWT. Under his efforts, the SWT rebuilds and reestablishes parts of its culture that had been lost during the war. With the discovery of oil on SWT land, he is also instrumental in establishing eco minded extraction techniques, and in trade ties with the rest of the world (although he is very much helped by his sister's deep ties with the Fire Lord). It's a surprise to no one when he's chosen to lead the SWT after Hakoda retires.
Toph: She does not become a cop. Instead, she goes back home and takes over the Earth Rumble, taking it from an underground even to a world wide phenomenon. She eventually allows benders of other elements to join, and the Earth Rumble becomes pro bending. She does also establish a metal bending school. In the end, she is wealthier than her parents, but because she couldn't really care less about money, she keeps enough to live at the standard she wants, and gives the rest away to causes that interest her...like the guy who wanted to set the record for the biggest bao bun ever, and needed funding for an oven big enough to cook it. She also establishes a halfway house for runaway teens.
Zuko: During his tenure as Fire Lord, he establishes a robust social services program that includes subsidized healthcare, education, and housing for the lowest income families. Under his reign, the Fire Nation becomes home to some of the earliest pioneers of mental health. At his wife's advice, he also makes paid maternity leave standard across the nation, and includes several programs to help single parents stay afloat. Taking inspiration from the SWT, Zuko makes some changes to how his advisory staff is selected. Instead of choosing from among the nobility, Zuko has the different provinces elect a representative to speak on their behalf. A lot of the nobles hate this, blaming his wife's influence, but the people adore their monarchs and despite their best efforts, there's little the nobles can do except start campaigning in their home provinces. It's not a perfect system, but it does open the door for the Fire Nation to end the monarchy within a couple of generations.
Suki: She continues to lead the Kyoshi Warriors for a few years after the war. She also helps train troops around the world as they pivot from active war service to more local work. She helps establish something like the coast guards for several different countries. Eventually she retires from that to help her husband run the SWT. She and Sokka make a wonderful team as he handles the domestic policies and she handles foreign affairs. She often jokes with her sister in law, Fire Lady Katara that they ended up with the same job.
Aang: I'll go with my most optimistic headcanon for him. He's an okay Avatar. Not great. Not the worst. After the war, he tries to take part in rebuilding efforts around the world, but he finds his help isn't needed much. He turns his attention back to salvaging what's left of the Air Nomad legacy, and discovers that there are actually airbenders still around. A few of them are even interested in learning to live like the Air Nomads. Many of them aren't, though, and after learning how to actually use their powers, they go off and do their own thing. To Aang's shock and dismay, eating meat has no effect on the strength of their bending, He does learn to deal with it and enjoy his time with the air benders who embrace the Air Nomad culture. He does go on to have kids, and he still favors the benders over the nonbenders. Ultimately, his legacy as Avatar boils down to taking Ozai's bending, and that's it.

So a very good friend of mine @dialga64bitz has created the Reverse Rock Sibblings AU.
Tumblr media
(Art by Dialga)
The premise is the fateful day, instead of Barb finding Branch, Branch finds Barb. They encountered some sort of beast and Branch finds Barb injured and brings her back to the village, believing her to be a grey troll.
Barb kinda immediately latches on to Branch as a sibling, which makes her not want to leave. Also preventing her from going home is that she believes her dad may have died in the attack, and going home would cement the reality. In Pop Village she can pretend he's fine, but if she goes home and he's not there... then she knows.
King Peppy isn't happy with Barb being there, which is fine by here because she doesn't like him either. Because of her, Cooper realizes he's not a Pop Troll very early on, and resolves to go find his family when he gets older.
Tumblr media
(Art by Dialga)
Barb lives with Branch in his bunker, and after some time she kind of begins to like to snack pack.
Cooper: She befriends him first, and he asks her about different tribes.
Smidge: Her and Barb are work out buddies!
Biggie: Not a big fan of him exactly but she likes Mr. Dinkles.
Satin & Chenille: They tried to make her rock clothes to varying success. They see it as an ultimate fashion challenge.
DJ Suki: They chillax together.
Guy Diamond: Honestly she can't stand this guy but she can respect his confidence. When Tiny is born though she immediately names herself Aunt Barb and dotes on him.
Poppy: They have a very up and down relationship. She appreciates that Poppy genuinely tries, but Poppy's tendency to not listen or do things the Pop Troll way caused them to butt heads often.
Tumblr media
(Art by Dialga)
The night of the 20th anniversary Barb leaves the bunker to go check on the party, only to arrive just in time for Chef to appear. Due to Barb, the Pop Trolls were all able to escape being caught. Only a single Troll was caught by Chef...
Tumblr media
(Art by Dialga)
Barb is captured by Chef and taken to the castle. She avoids getting eaten by Gristle due to being a bit too hard to swallow (she's not making it easy) and Chef listened to her for long enough to know exactly what to threaten Barb with.
Sell out the Pop Trolls and she'd spare her and her brother. If she didn't, she'd do something far worse to Branch and make Barb watch.
Barb reluctantly chose to save Branch.

I'm seeing so much commentary on people reacting to the live action atla toning down Sokka's misogyny
and I'm over here like this is a total non-issue because in my own rewrite of the show I already did that exact thing, it makes complete sense to do it and they should do it because it's a weaker aspect of the original show
Sokka's early misogyny is utterly cartoonish in comparison to the set up of the rest of the SWT, it doesn't feel realistic for the only teenaged boy in a dying culture surrounded by adult women with a grandmother who left a more out and out misogynist society to act the way he does
how Sokka "resolves" his misogyny is equally cartoonish, I never liked how in The Warriors of Kyoshi literally episode 4 of the show makes a teen girl compromise her own culture with a female only fighting tradition teach a boy who is supremely rude and disrespectful to her and then still be attracted to him afterwards, it's more misogyny to fix misogyny and is very obviously men writing about how to fix misogyny especially as they have Aang make a joke about Sokka wearing a dress after going through how meaningful the fighting costume is and how a lot of Asian clothing with hanfu influences like atla borrows from would have men in what to western eyes would be dresses, Aang has already seen multiple male authority figures in robes, the joke makes no sense
I also wouldn't consider Sokka's misogyny genuinely resolved after this, consider how the show deals with his romantic relationships with both Yue and Suki and how both can be seen as extensions of how Kataang is treated in the show, rewards for the hero, especially with how Sokka interacts aggressively with Hahn instead of respecting Yue's wishes whatever her reasons for them, I think an argument can be made that Yue's death is a fridging for Sokka's storyline rather than or in combination with being a consequence of Aang's failure as an avatar or the culmination of her own storyline where she fulfills her duties as a leader to protect her own people
Beyond his romantic relationships, while Sokka drops a lot of his more misogynistic language with Katara, he doesn't support her when she faces off with the NWT leaders to learn waterbending, and he still leaves the caretaking and food preparation and grocery shopping to her which is more common than him going out to hunt or gather in order to provide for the group while he takes a leadership role like determining their travel schedule and routes, it is not an even division of labor and falls along traditional sex stereotypes
In addition to his typical duties to the group, Sokka also remains invested in the trappings of masculinity after ep4, he's concerned about what's manly and how he compares to Jet for example, there's no investigation or interrogation in his interest in meat and hunting and how they relate to masculinity and his misogyny, in the episode with Piando, his insecurity as a non-bender is resolved by giving him a new male mentor and a new martial skill, sword fighting, which is masculine in both western and Asian cultures rather than assuaging his self esteem issues in any less stereotypically masculine ways, I also think it was done so he could compare more favorably to Zuko, another male character, and even his interest in engineering and mechanics comes with a male mentor and is a traditionally masculine pursuit
the show's poor handling of misogyny also extends beyond Sokka, with the NWT, the show acts as if Pakku is the only reason the tribe is misogynistic and the only consequences to that misogyny is that women can't waterbend and there are arranged marriages, and that both the NWT and Pakku's misogyny is resolved by allowing only Katara to learn to waterbend which she doesn't even earn on her own merits, she gets the opportunity because Pakku likes her grandmother
none of this is realistic, misogyny is not because of one bad apple, Pakku doesn't make Yue's arranged marriage, Chief Arnook does, he picked Hahn for her, and the show acts as if Arnook has no authority to compel Pakku to teach Katara or any ability to persuade him in order to reduce his culpability in the NWT's misogyny as its leader to make him a more respectable character so it's not uncomfortable when Aang and Sokka follow his orders in the battle later on, but women not being able to bend and forced into arranged marriages is still status quo when the gaang leaves, Yue's just dead
I'm not even convinced the show runners understand what's wrong with arranged marriage, the issue is not Yue can't be with Sokka who she likes and at most has a slight crush on cuz she's only known him for like two days, it's that she's being treated as male property, a broodmare, and a vehicle to ensure Hahn receives the throne because her father has no male heir and picked some guy to succeed him instead, like it's not explicit in the show but that is the implication based on the historical reality of princesses in arranged marriages, and the show has her get out of it only through death idc that she ascends to being a spirit, it's still a teen girl that dies
There's also no discussion by the show of the Earth Kingdom's misogyny when it has the exact same shit going on, Toph is the only female earthbender in the show not including avatars, there might have been a female earthbender in the background when Katara broke them out of prison, but I'm not really counting that, the entire army and Dai Li are all made up of men, the EK might even be worse because the show doesn't demonstrate that women and girls even have the capacity to earthbend aside from Toph and avatars and Toph doesn't even learn from a human, she has to learn from animals, the show treats this as commentary on her disability but the show has no compelling reason why it can't also be commentary on her sex, Toph was also originally supposed to be a boy so this could have ended up so much worse there literally would have been no female earthbenders aside from avatars at all, I'm not counting Oma as she might just be a mythological figure not a real person that once lived
The Fire Nation kinda barely avoids the same issue, Azula is the only named female firebender aside from avatars in the show but she has two female sidekicks who despite being non-benders show martial skill and there are clearly female soldiers and guards in the FN military so there are much stronger implications of female firebenders existing and being completely allowed to train their abilities and that Azula isn't exceptional in that respect like Toph is, only for being a prodigy with blue fire
Azula was also originally supposed to have an arranged marriage in s3 and they dropped it in favor of showing that royal and noble girls could casually date in the FN which has wild implications for women's empowerment in the country more so than but especially in combination with the fact women can train and join the military (which is why I say the FN is not fascist it's literally the least misogynistic country aside from Kyoshi and by like a country mile so it's literally not misogynistic enough) not that the show does anything more than minor teen drama with it
again, the vast majority of this misogyny is completely unremarked upon by the show especially after s1 when they leave the NWT, it is clearly a fictional world made by men with no true understanding of misogyny just a vague awareness that misogyny is bad and what the really obvious and outdated examples of it are, this is a narrative inconsistency in the show to have the examples and commentary on misogyny be so cartoonish in the beginning and then disappear after s1
your options to resolve this inconsistency is to either go all in with more realistic misogyny and provide commentary on all of it but this takes effort and will be divisive, or take the easier route and ease off the cartoonish-ness of it and comment less on it to avoid drawing attention to all instances of misogyny in the show
obviously Netflix was gonna do the latter
(not me tho, I'm making it less cartoony and dealing with it in my rewrite)

It’s just interesting to observe the differences in how people treat Zukka vs how they treat Zutara. Because I searched Zutara on TikTok to look for some edits and the comments were filled to the brim with people saying “But Katara belonged with Aang 🥺” or “How can you ship Zuko with her after Mai said such a romantic line?” Or perhaps the most insufferable of all “Maturing is realizing that Zuko would’ve thrown himself in from of lightning for ANYONE” as if that’s some revolutionary reading of the text. It’s so irritating how this kind of behaviour is…accepted by the fandom.
But you don’t get that with Zukka, instead you see people gushing over how sweet they are together, hailing it as a wholesome and unproblematic ship, praising artworks of it with positivity and appreciation. It’s difficult to find much negativity under Zukka posts, you won’t see people saying “But Sokka belongs with Suki 🥺” or boldly going on a tangent about how another ship is SO much better. I saw one person praise Zukka as the most unproblematic ATLA ship because of how little conflict there was about it, that you wouldn’t see the same hostility among that fandom as you might with Zutara.
But there’s a reason for that which has less to do with Zutara shippers themselves, and more to do with the harassment and hostility they face on all sides of the fandom. Fans will go out of their way to antagonize Zutara shippers, they’ll feel brazen enough to leave backhanded or outright hostile comments under Zutara posts and art, they’ll interject their shipping opinions in spaces where nobody asked and condescend Zutara shippers by framing them as shallow or delusional for shipping it.
I think Zukka is admittedly cute, and they definitely have their haters, but the difference between it and Zutara is astounding. It’s incredibly frustrating to watch this phenomenon play out, especially when these shippers carry themselves with a kind of false moral superiority that can only be found in shipping discourse.

And just like that, she’d fallen for him.
Spring. Summer. Autumn. The world had its cycles. There had been peace before war, and peace would come after bloodsheds and battles.
Katara looks at Zuko, at how he stares out to the width in the horizons. The curves of his nose and lips are soft, much like the colors of the leaves around them. The lines of his jaw and cheeks are sharp, in contrast.
He’s a beautiful man; she’s always thought so, even when they were enemies and he’d sworn he’d kill them. She likes it better this way, though— being friends, confidants, long-time companions. Kindness suits him more, either way. She likes how his face looks when he’s calm, — when there’s no rage to contort his scar, no scowl furrowing his brow.
She also likes that he knows her. That they can stand, silence pending between them, and it’s never too tense or uncomfortable. Zuko is just that good to her. He never puts too much pressure on her shoulders, — she’s had enough of that already. Instead, he soothes the rough edges. Lets her make her own choices and never judges her for them.
He looks back at her. An easy smile grazes his features; baffling, tortuous, beautiful. Katara has to fight the urge to freeze some water from her bottle and smash it across her searing face.
“Do you wanna…”, his voice cuts through the wind, raspy as it ever was. When he talks, it’s evident that he’s nervous. That he’s been circling around his thoughts and can’t seem to find the words. “I mean…”, he tries again. “Do you wanna stay here until you decide what to do?”
She hums, then turns her gaze back to the gardens. Aang had asked her to travel the world along with him, — to be by his side and help other people, from other nations and villages. She had yet to give him a proper answer.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to— go on missions, hear the masses’ suffering and be present in whatever way she could. Maybe, it was that she simply had pictured something different for herself. She could be so much more than just the “Avatar’s girl”! She could go home, lend a useful hand to Sokka and her dad advocating for their tribe. She could be an ambassador.
She could be with Zuko.
She can imagine the whole thing all too well, actually, — being on the palace, with him, until she could confront Aang about what to do. They could go for an evening stroll, feed turtleducks by the lake. Zuko’d make tea way past dinner time, and she’d laugh along with Suki when he’d burn his tongue by the first sip.
“There’s nothing I’d like more.”, she tells him, then. They are in one of the many balconies, staring out at the sun. The last scraps of summer have flushed with the breeze, and now the trees look all kinds of reds, yellows, oranges. Almost like they’ve caught on fire.
Zuko smiles at her again. A shy, wonderful thing that makes his eyes glint. His hair’s shaggy and overgrown, and falls limp between the honey of his irises. His cheeks burn a bright pink that, Katara deduces, might be from the gentle light warming up their faces.
“Okay.”, he says. He likes this, as well, — having her around. That he can open up to someone he can share his scars with, both the physical and the ones that lay underneath.
Katara inches close to him, just enough so that their elbows nudge together. The world has its cycles, she believes. Blue skies bleed into the darkness of the night. Ice defrosts when heated-up. And just like that, she’d fall for Zuko— delicate, and raw, and over and over. Helpless, like the moon that carries down the tides. Hopeless, like the autumn leaves that fall, ever so slow, and now gather at their feet like sea-foam.
“Okay.”

How They React to Their SO Getting Stalked - BNHA (pt 2)
This set of headcanons is for @lovelywritersgarden, thank you so so much for your request! If anyone has an idea or a request they'd like to read from me, please comment or send me a message in the inbox!
Hope you enjoy it!
PART 2
Katsuki Bakugou
I feel like no matter the scenario, even if it was something light, he would go crazy! It doesn't matter if nothing bad happened to you, if he found out your life was in danger, or even your privacy violated, you can bet he would be the first person on the scene, shouting and growling at people!
~ Katsuki was getting sick of this, watching his idiots playing video games used to be really funny, but now it was just boring. ~ It was the same thing over and over again, he wished he was hanging out with you instead, but unfortunately you didn't go to UA and were working on a school project with your lab partner. ~ He never trusted that guy. ~ He would always stare at you, and he always seemed to be in the same places you were. ~ The two of you had gone out to a curry place for your date night last week, this guy had been in the store across from you. He was always waiting outside the school doors when he would drop you off at the gates. Katsuki was pretty sure he had seen the guy skulking around near your house! ~ He had a bad feeling when he'd walked you home the other night, he kept hearing rustling in the bushes, you told him not to worry about it, but he knew something was wrong. ~ That was when he got a call from you. ~ Answering the call, he was smiling (or smirking), happy to be hearing from you, as always. ~ "Hey babe, how's your project go-" ~ "Suki, you need to get over here, right now!" ~ You were whispering, it was echoing, like you were in the bathroom. ~ "Babe, what's going on? Are you okay?" Katsuki was immediately on edge, he didn't like where this was going. He knew he should have trusted his gut. ~ "It's my lab partner! He's crazy! We said goodbye, he left but as I was about to start getting ready for bed, there was a flash in my window, the creep set up a camera outside my house!" (y/n) was scared, terrified even. ~ Katsuki's face went stern and worried, already getting his stuff and leaving, without giving his very confused friends any insight. ~ Making it to your house, he could see your bedroom light on, he stayed on the phone with you, making sure you were safe, turns out you had hidden in the bathroom. ~ And the guy Katsuki was so worried about, was pounding on your front door, yelling at you to let him in, saying her was sorry and that he only did what he did to keep you safe. ~ "Oh yeah? Safe from what, exactly?" Katsuki barked, standing behind the stalker, arms crossed over his chest, his eyes almost glinting with his anger. ~ The stalked seemed to be smirking, until he turned around and saw the infamous Bakugou Katsuki standing there, his fingers beginning to spark. ~ He obviously. ~ Katsuki used his key on the front door, coming in and letting you know it was him and that the weirdo was gone. ~ You came running out of the bathroom, wearing one of his shirts, leaping down the last few stairs, you fell into Katsuki's arms crying hysterically. ~ "I've got you babe, I'll always protect you."
Eijiro Kirishima
I feel like Eijiro would probably panic about it more that you would, he would be worried sick about you, hoping desperately that you were okay, when in reality, you were the one that had effortlessly fixed everything!
~ Eijiro had never felt so out of sorts! ~ He had been panicking so much over the last few days, you had told him the moment you had started receiving pictures of yourself, threatening messages and you had the feeling that someone had been following you for months now. ~ And somehow you weren't the one panicking in this scenario, he was! ~ When everything went wrong in school, or during his training, he was usually so level-headed, so cool. So... Manly... ~ But this time, you were the cool one! You had gone straight to the police and the pro heroes. ~ They found the person who had been stalking you, a girl from the support course. ~ They had been given a stern talking to and a restraining order from the police and were expelled from UA for clearly not exhibiting supportive heroic behaviour. ~ "So not plus ultra!" As Denki had said when you had told them what had happened. ~ Eijiro still couldn't sleep well, he had nightmares, he was making himself physically ill from the worry, so he decided to head over to your dorm room. ~ Knocking gently, on the off chance that you might be sleeping, he made his way inside, to see you reading in bed. ~ "Hey pebble, you okay?" He asked, tentatively. ~ You nodded, clearly interested in your book. Wordlessly, you lifted one arm, making a grabby hand at him. ~ He took your invitation happily, jumping into bed and cuddling into your stomach. ~ You placed a kiss on his head, running your fingers through his hair. ~ You knew exactly why he was here, you knew he felt better when you were around, somewhere where he could keep an eye on the surroundings. ~ He loved you so much, this stalker problem had caused a strain on his mental health, he wanted to make sure you were safe. ~ As he was falling asleep, he looked up at you with happy eyes and mumbled under his breath. ~ "You're so manly baby."
Izuku Midoriya
Izuku would be similar to Fumikage I feel, going completely overboard with security until you got annoyed... Obviously you couldn't be mad at the cinnamon roll for too long, I mean, look at his little face!!!
~ After the stalked had been caught and taken care of, Izuku went nuts! ~ He had put security cameras everywhere! Nowhere that would invade your personal space of course, but everywhere else. ~ Mina nearly killed him when she walked out of her room and ran straight into Izuku on a ladder, installing a camera above her dorm room. ~ You decided that he was getting a bit too overboard in his security measures. You had tried to sit him down and talk to him about it, he had just started rambling a million miles per minute, trying to get back to his detective vigilante work. ~ He had finished with the security cameras and had moved on to detailed guards, he had his friends watching you when you were out of classes, in classes, walking you to your dorm and escorting you home. ~ He'd gone so far as to having his guard duty on their own radio frequency, they had walkie-talkies each and you best believe, the boys loved it! ~ Izuku was taking your safety so, incredibly seriously, that his grades had begun dropping, his sleep schedule was all over the place, he had been neglecting his own health to make sure you could feel happy in your own place. ~ He was falling asleep at his desk, he wasn't doing his schoolwork, even Aizawa was worried about his problem child! ~ He sent Izuku to his room, he asked you to go with him (mainly because Izuku refused to leave otherwise), and you settled him in bed and made sure he was falling asleep. ~ "Izuku, I know you want to keep me safe, but I can take care of myself, what you've done so far is so sweet, but it's unnecessary. You need to take care of yourself now... Understand?" You said with a tight smile. ~ Izuku could see you were worried about him, so he nodded quietly and fell asleep, his hand holding tightly onto yours. ~ He removed his security cameras the next day, pleasing Mina greatly.
Shouta Aizawa
Shouta wouldn't be all that worried about you, you were surrounded by pro heroes and cats that would put their lives on the line for you. There was also a certain student that he knew would keep you safe.
~ If anyone had been traumatised by the stalking scenario, it hadn't been you, or Shouta, it was Shinsou... ~ He had been so worried about you! ~ You were the person he turned to when he was worried, stressed or scared, now he realised that he couldn't, that he had your own things to deal with. ~ Now you were worried about Shinsou. ~ He had pulled away from you and Shouta, he had bottled his feelings and he was about to pop. ~ Coming into Shouta and your shared apartment, he was already stressed, classes were difficult, training had gotten harder and worst of all, your stalker had yet to be caught. ~ You on the other hand, were smiley and cheerful, as always. ~ "Hitoshi!" You grinned, seeing your favourite (foster) child enter the kitchen. ~ You had been busying yourself around making dinner and cleaning up the apartment, but you were never busy for Hitoshi! (Or your cats Miso and Hizashi). ~ "You okay sweetie? Come sit down, dinner's nearly ready!" You said, still wearing a bright smile. ~ Hitoshi couldn't take it anymore, beginning to shout, loudly and passionately. ~ "How can you be so happy!? Someone was stalking you! Your privacy was completely invaded, and you're the partner of a pro hero! If he can't keep you safe, who can!?" ~ "Shinsou." ~ Shouta was stood behind Hitoshi, waiting patiently to speak. ~ "I know you're worried about (y/n), I am too and believe me when I say, nobody is more ashamed that this happened than me. I let this happen and I let them get away. But I am doing my best to find the person responsible and have them punished." ~ Hitoshi looked down, biting his lip harshly to stop his tears from falling. ~ You smiled softly at the boy, opening your arms and drawing him in for a hug, which he eagerly returned. ~ Looking over the boy's shoulder, you could see Shouta smiling at the two of you, it made him happy that you took such sweet care of his protegee. ~ But he was still immensely disappointed in himself, first, because he had failed to keep you safe, but also because he hadn't noticed the effect this had had on Hitoshi. ~ He was going to keep the both of you safe, no matter the cost.
Takami Keigo
Honestly, out of all of the MHA characters, I think Takami would be the character to get the most outwardly angry. Not against the stalker, or even the police at failing to keep you safe, but at himself for not noticing sooner.
~ It had been nearly a week since the stalker had been caught and convicted, you just wanted everything to put behind you now. ~ You were heading over to Takami's agency, you were meeting him for lunch whilst he had a break. ~ Entering the building, you walked straight up to his office. ~ Takami had made a big parade of showing you off around the building when the two of you had become a couple, a sort of bird tradition, he said. ~ At the entrance to his office, his receptionist seemed worried. ~ Looking up at you, they looked even more worried, "(l/n)-san! I'm so sorry, but you can't go in there, Hawks is... Is in a m-meeting!" ~ You looked at them confused, "Takami didn't mention any meeting to me..." You mumbled under your breath, but still turned to wait downstairs, preparing a text to let him know. ~ When you heard a loud crash, coming straight from Takami's office. ~ Turning swiftly, you rushed into his office, slamming the doors open, "Takami! What..." ~ As you let your eyes drag around the room, you could see the amount of damage he had done. ~ His computer had been completely demolished, the screen shattered and cables torn. The paintings on his walls had been ripped to shreds. Paperwork was everywhere. Takami was stood staring out the window, after having thrown the books off the shelves. ~ His feathers were ruffled and his breathing was heavy. ~ "Honey..." ~ Takami turned, shocked, clearly not having heard you enter. ~ "Uh, hey chick, I'm sorry, you... You weren't supposed to see that..." ~ Takami looked truly ashamed of himself, he hadn't wanted you to see him like this, but he had been killing himself thinking about what had happened to you. ~ "What did you do?" You asked him, walking closer to him, holding his hands gently in yours. ~ He sighed, sitting down in his chair and looking up at you, his usually impish face looking tired. ~ "What happened to you, shouldn't have happened, I've been so busy working I wasn't looking after you and this happened." ~ Takami looked so disgusted with himself, staring at his feet. ~ "I was supposed to keep you safe, I failed. You were scared and your privacy was violated, I should have been there baby bird and I didn't even know this had happened to you until after they caught the guy!" ~ You could see he was getting more and more upset, you lifted his chin, pressing a kiss against his forehead. ~ "My love, this wasn't a situation you could control, it's been handled and I feel safe, because I'm with you. Now can we please go to lunch and maybe look at new decor for your office? You look like you could use some!" ~ Takami smiled gratefully at you, kissing your hands before nodding, holding the door open as you both left to go to your favourite chicken place. ~ This would never happen again.
I hope this was okay! I'm not used to writing for some of these characters, but I hope you enjoyed it!

Happy Accidents
Sae x GN! Reader
Part 2 to Misunderstandings
No warnings, after school fluff, takes place before Spain. First date (kinda), Reader is GN but is described as being shorter than Sae and wearing ribbons in their hair. Reader is kinda a anxious mess. NGL this was kinda a pain to get thru, Suki and Naomi are my babies il them T^T
“So, uh… what’s… your favorite color?” You ask, before immediately scrunching up your eyes in disgust of how awkward that was. “...seriously?” His response isn’t exactly uncalled for, but you can’t help but pout anyways.
What does one do when they’ve accidentally scored a date with one of the most infamous boys at school?
Cry? Scream? Die on the spot? Everything listed before, all at once?
Well, first, before all of that, you tell your beloved friends in hope for advice or a comforting shoulder.
And instead you get relentlessly teased (Naomi) and interrogated (Suki).
“Oh my god, you’re so stupid.” Naomi cackles like a witch from your desk chair, wiping tears from her eyes (okay it wasn’t that funny). “Who the fuck says “thanks you too” when someone tells them they’re cute?”
“Nuhh– nice people?” You say trying to defend yourself, although it comes out as more of a question.
This sends Naomi into another laughing fit, making you grab one of your pillows and hurl it at her, scowling when she easily catches it and continues to laugh at you, now grumpy that you missed her and that you’re pillowless.
“Oh, stop it already you clown.” Suki scolds Naomi from where she’s sprawled on your bed, head tilting up to shake her head disapprovingly at the dark haired girl.
“Thank you Suki.” You say, flashing her a grateful smile, only to yelp when she suddenly flips around, looking at you with an intensely excited look in her eyes.
“Was his voice hot?” She eagerly questions, leaning in to hear your answer.
“Suki!” You squawk, feeling your face heat up. “What kinda question–?!”
Naomi snorts. “Oh, but I’m the clown, got it.”
“It’s an important question, thank you very much, we’re talking about our beloved (Name)’s partner here!” She pouts indignantly, ignoring the choked noise of surprise you make at her words.
“Yeah, no, I don’t approve of him either way. That kid has an attitude problem and (Name) deserves better.” Naomi scoffs.
“Oh, who would you approve of then? Fucking Maruki?”
“Yes, I would, and that’s Dr. Maruki to you, you bitch–”
You finally manage to find your voice during their mini squabble and snap in embarrassment.
“I don’t need either of you to approve! That doesn’t matter anyways!” You exclaim. “I am not dating Itoshi Sae!”
Your brother pops his head into your room at this very inopportune time, and looks at you in shock.
“(Name) you’re dating Itoshi Sae?” He asks.
“Yes!” Suki squeals.
“Unfortunately.” Naomi sighs.
“No!” You snap, glaring at your friends before turning to him. “What are you doing here anyways?”
“I was just gonna ask you if I could have the last bag of chips.” He answers.
“Yeah, whatever, go for it.” You sigh.
“Cool, congrats on bagging a future pro athlete, I expect to see some money too.” He responds, leaving just as quickly as he came.
“You wouldn’t see anything even if we were dating!” You call out after him, both annoyed and flustered by his words.
Sighing you turn to your friends, who look at you somewhat expectantly.
“What?”
“I mean, I know I said I didn’t approve… but if he does happen to get rich…” Naomi trails off, as Suki eagerly nods.
“You materialistic jerks, what about his feelings?” You question, only to receive giggles from Suki.
“Interesting that you didn’t bring up your feelings.” She teases, making you startle in embarrassment. “Besides, I have a pretty good feeling, he wouldn’t mind spoiling you.”
Naomi laughs at this. “You’re making him sound like a sugar daddy.”
“Could be.” Suki innocently says, despite the smirk on her face.
“No! No sugar daddies!” You exclaim, face burning. “It’s an equal relationship!”
“Aha, so it is a relationship!” Suki grins victoriously.
“No! You know what I meant you ass!”
“Did we?” Naomi questions with a grin.
You let out a groan. “Don’t team up on me! I need help, not mockery.”
“You got it boss.” Suki salutes mockingly before hopping off your bed to rummage through your closet. “Don’t worry, I’ll get you a first date fit that’ll have him drooling over you as soon as he sees you.”
You give her a blank stare, the thought of Sae drooling over anyone sounding so unrealistic you can’t even begin to imagine it.
Naomi must share these sentiments with the way she rolls her eyes at Suki, at least, that's what you think until she opens her mouth.
“If you want him to drool, just make sure (Name) shows up naked.”
This time when you hurl a pillow at her it hits her square in the face.
Suki snickers both at the remark and the price that Naomi paid for it, watching as you proceed to pick up said pillow and proceed to beat Naomi with it in a flustered rage, much to her misfortune as she lets out muffled yelps.
“Unfortunately, public indecency is a crime Naomi, so I think we’ll do it my way.” Suki hums.
“That’s the only reason?!” You ask, alarmed, finally letting up on your attempt to murder your friend with a comforter.
“Of course not!” Suki reassures. “It’s also because I want to dress you up.”
You look down at the fluffy weapon in your hands and briefly consider changing targets before remembering that Suki would actually murder you for messing up her hair.
“...well, not that I don’t appreciate the help Suki, but when I asked for help, I meant how I should act.”
Naomi leans back on the chair, already recovered from the attempt on her life, and looks at you incredulously.
“Just act like you always do, duh.” She states, as if obvious.
“...” You blink, taking in the advice before shaking your head. “That’s not– I mean, I’m just gonna make a fool of myself again.”
Suki pauses in her closet rifling to look back over at you.
“...You know (Name), we’re teasing you a lot, but this situation isn’t as bad as you think it is. It’s normal to embarrass yourself every once in a while.” Suki says soothingly.
“Yeah, you would know.” Naomi snorts, to which Suki shoots her a withering glare, making her backtrack. “I mean– yeah, Suki’s right. Besides, if you were to act differently, what’s the guarantee that you’d be able to keep it up? It’s better to just be yourself.”
“... I guess you guys have a point.” You concede, giving them both a small smile.
“Good, because I’m pretty sure the fact that you’re a walking L is endearing to him.” Naomi adds cheerfully, yelping as you swing your pillow down on her again.
Suki hums turning back to your closet as the sounds of Naomi’s muffled protests sound in the background.
“Oooh, that top is cute.”
When you finally show up at his practice it’s halfway through being finished, and you feel a spark of guilt run through you, threading through the waves of anxiety already ebbing and flowing within.
You probably could have made it when practice actually started had Suki not insisted on spontaneously starting the most difficult hairdo known to man.
“No, trust me, this is gonna look so cute, I swear.” She mutters, yanking your hair.
“There’s no point if it’s over by the time you’re finished!” You snap back.
In the end, she somehow did it, and it did look very pretty, especially with your signature ribbon tied around it, but you couldn’t help feeling slightly salty about it, regretting that you missed watching Sae play, even if only for a little bit.
…Not that it mattered anyways since now you were starting to feel the familiar sensation of nervousness well up within you.
“Breath, just breath, it's fine.” You mutter to yourself as you take a seat on the bleachers, trying to be as unintrusive as possible.
Well, you say unintrusive, but what you really mean is unseen, feeling embarrassed about both being seen all dressed up and being seen by Sae in general.
And if you were a luckier person, you would’ve remained unseen for the rest of the practice, only until it was over and you would only have to bite the bullet of being seen by Sae.
But, you weren’t a lucky person, and as you had once thought before, the gods personally had it out for you, so instead, while you’re busy running through breathing exercises and overthinking, you immediately get pointed out by one of the players while they’re getting ready to leave.
Hirose, who sits in a few of your classes, isn’t quite a friend, but is fun to talk to with his friendly and extraverted nature. Unfortunately, due to that very nature, he is loud and never knows how to use his inside voice.
So, essentially, what’s supposed to be a casual compliment, turns into a spotlight aimed directly at you.
“Damn, (Name), looking good!” He practically yells out.
Immediately, you feel almost everyone's attention shift towards you, and you feel yourself wanting to melt into the ground, cheeks heating up to a temperature almost feverish.
“Damn you Hirose!” You curse in your head, as you send him an awkward smile, praying that Sae just so happened to be distracted by literally anything else instead of you, despite the fact that most of the guys on the field are now starting to murmur to each other (most definitely about you, in a hopefully non-negative way).
He’s not, obviously and unfortunately, and when you look over at him, his teal eyes slowly taking in your figure, you can feel your soul slip out of your body.
“What’re you all dressed up for?” Hirose loudly asks with an oblivious smile, not quite understanding the fact that he’s drawing attention to you, much less the fact that you’re dying of embarrassment because of it.
You hesitate to answer, not quite wanting to say that you’re going on a date with Sae in worry that he’d take offense to having his personal affairs aired out like that (also because even still you could hardly believe he wanted to go out with you), but to your surprise, Sae ends up talking for you.
“They’re with me.” He states, simply, making you look at him in shock, as does everyone else on the field, albeit probably for different reasons.
Hirose openly gapes for a second, before turning to you in shock. “For real?!”
“...Well– yes.” You respond, figuring that there’s no reason in denying it, slightly confused that he’s confirming it with you rather than Sae, feeling that if anyone would lie about being in a relationship, (would this be considered that yet?) it would be you.
What you also aren’t expecting is for Hirose to give you an enthusiastic high five and a conspiratorial whisper to “run his pockets clean (Name)!” to which your cheeks flush in mortification.
(Seriously, what was with the running insistence of you being a gold digger?... or a future gold digger at the very least?)
Either way, the commotion dies down for the most part after a while, although you can’t help but dread returning to school knowing that this was going to be widespread knowledge soon enough… especially knowing Hirose.
Not that you have much time to worry about that anyways when you make your way off of the bleachers over to your supposed date (though, was calling it a “date” overstepping?). But Sae surprises you when he holds out his hand to help you off of them.
Obviously you accept his hand, and obviously it proves to be your downfall (literally) when as you reach for it your shoe hits the support beam on the seat and you end up tripping right into his arms.
“...You’re really clumsy.” He remarks coolly, effortlessly maneuvering you safely onto the ground with strength that leaves you briefly awed.
It’s the first thing that he’s directly said to you so far and you can’t help the flustered look that overtakes your face.
“I–I’m usually not.” You manage to say, mentally recalling how you effortlessly beat Naomi within an inch of her life with a pillow despite her attempts to run.
“So, it's just me then?” He asks, the teasing tone in his voice sending your cheeks on fire.
You decline to comment on that, but Sae doesn’t seem to mind, instead gently grasping your hand in his, (much to your shock) as he begins to lead you to the ice cream shop.
When you slightly stumble (because of course) he sends you a smirk that has you simultaneously wanting to die (usual) as well as the urge to trip him (new!).
You don’t act on either impulse though, particularly the last one as you see the hint of the affectionate gleam in his eye.
The walk is relatively quiet for the most part, neither of you really being big talkers, but even still you can’t help but feel the familiar tinge of curiosity as you look at him, wanting to know a bit more about him.
“So, uh… what’s… your favorite color?” You ask, before immediately scrunching up your eyes in disgust of how awkward that was.
“...seriously?”
His response isn’t exactly uncalled for, but you can’t help but pout anyways.
“Listen, you try being in my shoes, this is hard.”
“Didn’t seem hard when you wrote that letter.”
You want to laugh at his remark, for many reasons that you’re not quite sure how to explain to him just yet, so instead you shift gears.
“Speaking of, how much of that did you read?”
He gives you his signature poker face, but the twinkle of amusement in his eyes has you regretting asking.
“Not too far, just enough to get to the part about the “shimmering teal” of my pupils that “sends your heart racing”, supposedly.”
You’re not sure if you want to curse out Suki for her fixation on physical appearance or punch yourself for your penchant for melodrama, but you have enough hatred within you to do both.
“...is that so?” You question in a voice distinctly higher than your usual pitch.
He doesn’t even attempt to hold back the breathy laugh that escapes him.
“God, you’re cute.”
It’s a miracle that no one has notified the local fire department of the burning embarrassment that’s raging within you, strong enough to probably burn down half the neighborhood had it been able to escape from the confines of your cheeks.
At least this time you didn’t say “you too.”
“Is it fun for you? Torturing me?” You question rather bitterly.
“Most people would love to be “tortured”, as you say.” He says, more so matter of factly than arrogantly, but it still makes you raise a brow.
“..so why me?” You can’t help but ask.
He turns his head towards you, face unreadable like normal, which is still as intimidating as it was before he asked you out, and reaches his hand out to poke you in the forehead, to which you scrunch up your face on instinct.
“‘Told you already… you’re cute.”
“So are “most people” who approach you!” You protest, despite your face flushing.
“Maybe they were.” He says nonchalantly. “But I have my reasons.”
“Which are…?”
He looks at you, seemingly considering, and you almost lean in to hear him speak, until he replies.
“... I’ll tell you next time.”
You gape at him slightly, both annoyed that he just curveballed you and flattered that he wanted to go out with you again.
“You’re too good at this.” You complain as you see the building of the ice cream shop.
“Or you’re just too receptive to me.” He shoots back, seemingly relishing in the way you stumble through the conversation.
“N–not to you, to everyone.”
“Sure.” He replies, rather generously, dropping the subject in favor of grabbing onto the front door to the shop instead, allowing you to enter first as he holds it open for you.
The interior of the shop is actually rather cute, vintage in an American 50’s diner way, complete with the checkered floors, bright colors and non-functioning jukebox sitting in the corner collecting dust from its underutilization.
“Thank you… and wow.” You whisper as you come inside, Sae trailing in after you. “This is so cool…”
“I had a feeling you’d like it.” He says, and you can’t help the smile that slides on your face when he says that.
“I didn’t realize you were so thoughtful.”
“Probably because you were too busy getting lost in my shimmering–”
“Anyways! Is that ice cream? I love ice cream!” You fluster, moving over to stare at the glass counter and examine the flavors.
He laughs, and you can’t help but flush despite yourself, the low pitch of his voice sending your heart racing.
You elect to ignore him in favor of cooling your heated cheeks, stammering out your order to the amused older woman who looks fondly on the two of you, Sae following with his order close behind.
When he pulls out his wallet to pay however, you panic, voicing your objections.
“Wait, you don’t have to pay for me!” You protest.
“Aren’t you supposed to be running my pockets clean?”
He asks, raising a brow, ignoring your protests and handing over his yen to the cashier without a second thought.
“That’s not– I mean, I didn’t say–”
“Besides,” He cuts your stuttering off smoothly. “I asked you out first, so it's only fair.”
“Then I’m paying for the next one.” You say determinedly before realizing what you’ve just implied, your face flushing yet again.
The lady behind the counter coughs in an attempt to cover up her laugh, but you can already feel a steam of embarrassment burst out your ears.
Sae just shoots you a smirk, smug that you’ve walked straight into his trap and you, for the first time, send him a glare, the type you would send Naomi.
To his credit, despite you not wanting to give him any, he takes it like a champ and the smug look stays on his face even through both of you receiving your orders and taking a seat.
You can’t help but perk up at the sight of your ice cream, a happy smile lighting up your face as you take a bite, an enthusiastic hum escaping your lips.
Although, you’re quick to stop your antics when you notice him eying you amusedly, deciding to avert your eyes to the table and act like a sane, rational human being.
“Don’t stop on my account.” He says, to which you shake your head, flustered.
“...stop looking at me and I’ll consider.”
“Easier said than done.” He remarks, to which you feel your cheeks warming.
“...you don’t need to exaggerate.” You murmur, taking another bite of your ice cream.
“I wouldn’t in the first place.” He says stoically. “You look good.”
Your heart excuses itself from its usual job pumping your blood to do an enthusiastic tap dance routine, complete with a hat tip and a cane pop.
“...too good.” He murmurs to himself, not noticing your flustered face.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” You question, moving past your own embarrassment.
He shakes his head, taking a bite of his ice cream. “Nothing, just dumb jocks.”
You raise a brow at him to which he scoffs, understanding your insinuation.
“Shut up.”
“I didn’t say anything.” You say innocently before switching the topic to his earlier words. “Did your teammates do something?”
He sits there silently for a second swallowing his bite of ice cream before speaking.
“They’re just… annoying; they need to keep their mouths shut.”
“Yeah? Did they say something about me?” You press slightly, both curious about what his teammates could have said to set him off as well as slightly insecure.
“...it’s not that they were talking badly about you.” He says, in what seems to be an attempt to comfort you. “It’s just…”
He trails off and you look at him, a hint of an idea on your mind on what he’s trying to get at, but you’re not sure if you have the confidence to actually say it.
“It’s fine…” You say, shooting him a reassuring smile. “I think I get it.”
“Do you?” He asks disbelievingly, but lets a small smile slip on his face. “...I’ll say that you definitely caught their attention.”
“That sounds even more anxiety including.” You reply with a small laugh.
“I’ll put it this way then.” Sae says, leaning in slightly, and you can catch the way the sunlight hits his eyes. “You caught my attention.”
A warm feeling stirs up within you, and you have to fight to hide the flustered smile that threatens to break on your face.
“...you caught mine too.” You end up saying instead, watching as he blinks, the light hitting his lower lashes like sparkles.
A moment of silence settles around you both, although it doesn’t feel uncomfortable, only for it to burst so delicately as Sae opens his mouth again.
“Yeah I know.” He says, a smirk creeping up on his lips as he looks at you. “Something about how my blush red hair reminds you of roses–”
“Okay! That’s enough of that!” You fluster, panicked.
The conversation continues from there, ebbing and flowing in a way you would have never thought when tasked with the daunting prospect of talking to Itoshi Sae and you discover a few new sides to him too.
One that he’s awfully fond of his younger brother, two, he’s a bit of a sore loser, especially when it comes to tiny things and three, that he’s a lot more caring than you originally had him pegged for.
And after a few hours when the conversation comes to a comfortable lull you both leave the shop, you with the flustered knowledge of your newfound infatuation and him with a considerably more relaxed demeanor than when the date started.
“Should I walk you home?” He offers breezily, to which you shake your head vehemently a grimace pulling on your features.
“Don’t worry about it.” You say. “I don’t need you meeting my brother and having him embarrass me.”
“You seem to do that enough on your own.” He points out, to which you shoot him a glare.
“And who’s the guy who likes me despite that?” You shoot back, to which he smirks.
“Me obviously.” He says, a hint of pride in his tone that leaves you feeling warm inside despite your want to stay annoyed with him.
You feel a smile pull on your lips as you turn to him with a sincere tone in your voice. “...I had a good time today, thanks for taking me here.”
He’s slightly taken aback by your shift in tone, and an unfamiliar flush blooms on his face, something that leaves you equal parts amused and amazed.
“...I wouldn’t mind doing this again.” He eventually says.
You have half a mind to tease him, but decided with the way the universe hates you that you should keep your mouth shut in fear of the wrathful vengeance of karma.
“Me neither.” You say instead, giving him a small smile, hesitating for a while before hopping on your tiptoes and planting a kiss on his cheek.
His face turns an interesting shade of pink at the gesture and you can’t help but laugh at the look on his face as you spin on your heel to leave.
“See you at school, Sae!” You call out with a wave as you start to make your way back home, a happy pep in your step even if he doesn’t respond, too preoccupied with his own embarrassment.
(And if you trip slightly on your way back, skinning your knees slightly… well you suppose you could live with that form of karma.)

atla live action thoughts: season one review
first things first: anyone who says the Movie That Does Not Exist is better than the live action is straight-up lying. the shymalan film fails on the criteria of even being a decent movie, let alone an adaptation. the netflix series, for all its problems, is at least an enjoyable watch with great effects, music and (mostly) appropriate casting. there's absolutely nothing to compare here - the netflix version clears easily.
now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's delve into the series, starting with the positives.
the good:
visuals and cinematography. they really did a great job of making it feel like a fantasy universe you wanted to be in & i love how vibrant the saturation and colour grading was. it made the world feel so much more dynamic and alive instead of the same flat, boring dullness that so many movies and shows have these days. sometimes i didn't even mind that i was being fed obvious exposition because at least they were giving me something pretty to look at lmao
effects and action. the bending was surprisingly good for the most part, and they did a good job of making the elements feel unique through the stunt choreography and the actors' movements. i'm immensely thankful they didn't try to skimp on budget by merely cutting away from fight scenes or showing us as little as possible. almost all the action sequences were fast-paced and engaging, and i was never bored watching them
acting. the main four were all great, but gordon cormier and dallas liu have to be the standouts for me. gordon brings such an earnest, innocent sweetness to aang that you can't help but like him, and dallas plays all of zuko's facets perfectly: the angst, the explosive anger, the bratty snark, and especially the deep-rooted pain that characterizes so many of zuko's actions in book 1. the range he has, especially when flashing from younger to older zuko, was insane. special shoutout to maria zhang and sebastian amoruso as suki and jet respectively, because they killed it
music. leaves from the vine instrumental had me tearbending and i love how they kept the iconic avatar theme while making it a little darker for this iteration of the story. in general, the soundtrack felt very true to the animation while still being a fresh spin on it
zuko and iroh's relationship and expanding on zuko's crew. i think the fandom universally agrees that lu ten's funeral and zuko's crew being the 41st division were the best changes in the series, so i'm not going to talk about it further other than to say that these scenes show me what the show can be, and that's why i'm not giving up on it
the bad:
characterization. almost all the main characters are missing the little nuances that made them so great in the original, but the greatest casualty is katara. i hate that they took away so much of her rage, and gave many of her traits and struggles to sokka. i don't think this is a problem solely with the writing though, because certain lines do feel like things animated katara would say, but the directing and line delivery don't have the same punch that made her so fierce in the original. this is an easily fixed issue though, so i hope they take the criticism and let my girl be angry and fuck shit up next season
exposition. this was primarily a problem in depicting aang's personality and the relationship between the gaang, because a) why are you TELLING me that aang is mischievous and fun-loving instead of just showing me and b) the gaang do NOT feel like close friends, mostly because they spend so much time apart in every episode that they have little screentime to actually bond and develop intimacy.
lack of focus on the intricacies of bending. for a show whose tagline is "master your element" the characters spend very little time actually... mastering their element. zuko is never shown to struggle with firebending (which is going to have ramifications when it comes to developing his relationship with azula), and neither aang nor katara ever learn waterbending from a master throughout the the entire show. i'm pretty sure aang never willingly waterbends ONCE in the entire eight episodes, discounting the avatar state and koizilla. bending isn't just cool martial arts, it's closely linked to the philosophies and spirituality of each nation, and i wish that had been explored more.
pacing. they really needed to do a better job of conveying that time passed between episodes because an 8-episode season is just going to FEEL shorter than a 20-episode one. the original animation felt as though they'd truly been on a long journey before arriving at the north, but here it feels like the entire show happened in the span of a fortnight or so because each episode seemed to pick up right after the previous. they needed to have more downtime within episodes instead of just rushing from plot beat to plot beat because it made everything feel a lot more rushed. give the characters and story time to breathe.
final rating: 7/10.
overall, i would describe the live action as a better version of the percy jackson movies - not an accurate or perfect adaptation, but a decent story that's very fun to watch. but what really makes me root for this show to get a season 2 is that it has a lot of potential and more importantly, a lot of heart. it's evident that the people who worked on it do genuinely love and respect the original series, and it shows onscreen.
regardless of anything else, this show created opportunities for so many asian and indigenous actors, writers and creators to tell the kinds of stories and play the kinds of roles they don't usually get, and that's something worth supporting. if they take the criticism from this season and improve, i believe they really do have something special on their hands which - although it might not be the original we all know and love - could still be a story to be proud of.

Things about the Netflix Live Action that I personally loved
I know i've been pretty negative about Natla in general, so to make up for that: here's a post about everything that i loved!
Dallas Liu and Gordon Cormier's casting. Those two were really good, and while Gordon definitely had some "kid actor" moments, he only has room for growth and i truly believe he'll continue to be the perfect Aang (in looks and general energy, not writing lol)
The scene where the watertribe is staring over an unconscious Aang going "is he dead? What's the mark on his head?" it rlly made me giggle
A bunch of Ian Ousley's jokes were funny. Not all, but a bunch.
Maria Zhang, she also truly was a perfect Suki, i loved her performance and she's just so beautiful in general
Cabbage merchant
The costumes generally stayed true to the original, and while some looked a bit clunky or too clean they were overall really nice
Zuko and Aang's chat after the blue spirit story, it was a very good addition and Dallas and Gordon have great chemistry
Zuko's crew on the ship being the 41st division, aka the soldiers he saved from getting sacrificed by speaking out
Cabbage. Merchant.
June. I have no notes on her and i wished they utilized her more. I know she's coming back in s3 (i hope... *narrows eyes at netflix*) but i still feel like we didn't get enough of her yet
The change in June flirting with Iroh instead of Iroh being a little creepy towards her. You can shout double standards but this definitely felt less uncomfortable
The music
The set design when they weren't using greenscreen was genuinely very good
Casting for the mechanist and Teo was immaculate
Oma and Shu being lesbians
The whole blue spirit sequence
Cabbage Merchant
Yue's character in this version of the story (not her hair though god forbid)
The leaves from the vines motif in the flashback for Lu Ten's funeral, and the song returning when Iroh goes with Zuko on the boat. Got me crying on a saturday afternoon
Lizzy Yu. I know there was rlly no reason for Azula's character to be there yet but i liked Lizzy's performance even though her writing was OOC
The design for the physical weapons like Sokka's club and boomerang, Suki's fans and Jet's hook swords was really nice
The makeup for the Kyoshi warriors was fantastic
Daddy Dae Kim
THE CABBAGE MERCHANT.

despite it being "difficult" to fluster the kyoshi warrior suki, you had your ways. it was actually pretty easy during certain moments. moments like now, where you two were supposed to be sparring, but instead ended up being just like what happened every time.
"you're so pretty," you mumbled into her neck, leaving small bite marks the more you trailed down.
she rolled her eyes at your antics, but with her hand tangled in your hair and her head tilted to the side letting out quiet whimpers, you knew she was enjoying herself. as soon as one of your hands started moving down in between her thighs, she quickly grasped your hand. "wait- what if someone comes in?"
"you know no one's coming in, you don't have any training except for me today," you answered, leaving a darker mark on her neck and soothing it over with your tongue. "besides," you pulled away from her neck to look her in the eyes. "maybe i want them to hear you."
"you're insane," suki shook her head.
"am i?" you tilted your head, pressing her up against the wall, pinning her hands above her head.
her eyes widened slightly at your sudden movements, and while you both knew damn well she could get out of this position with ease, she didn't move. "y/n, we can't," she shook her head again.
"c'mon, princess," you said, leaning in closer to whisper into her ear. "i wanna fuck you against the glass so everyone can see how well you take it." your hand started slowly moving down her body, stopping once you reached her thighs.
her breath hitched in her throat and she nodded, her eyes closing as she responded. "fine. just- just do something- please,"
you immediately smirked once you received an answer, and you kissed her cheek. "good girl," you said. your hand moved in between her thighs, feeling the wet material and pushing it to the side with your fingers. "you're so wet, baby. you must've been waiting for me to do something like this, huh?" you teased.
"shut up," suki sputtered out, her eyes screwing shut tightly. "you don't-" she was cut off with a low whine when you started circling her clit with your thumb.
"i'm sorry, what was that?" you taunted lightly. your free hand held both sides of her face, making her look at you. "open your eyes, baby. i wanna see how they roll back when i make you cum."
when she didn't, you tsked and swiftly pushed a finger inside of her. her eyes opened as she let out a harsh gasp, her hands clutching onto your shoulders while her head leaned back against the wall. "y/n, please," she whined, her eyes glossy as she looked up at you.
"please what? you know i won't do anything if you don't say it exactly," you replied, still playing with her clit.
"fuck me, please," she said in a hushed voice, her hips rolling down against your hand for some kind of relief. "please," she whimpered softly.
you smiled at the sight in front of you. for someone who had so much pride and dignity, you could make that all disappear with just a few words and movements. you kissed her as you started thrusting your finger in and out, slipping a second one in and feeling her moan into your mouth at your actions. you kept a teasingly slow pace as you pulled out of the kiss to look down at her. "keep your eyes on me, princess," you said, lightly tapping her cheek with your free hand.
suki looked up at you when you spoke, her bottom lip tugged between her teeth as she tried to keep herself quiet, her nails digging into your shoulders. "faster- please, y/n- please," she begged, her hips still rolling onto your hand.
you didn't respond, instead quickening your thrusts and pushing a third finger in. she let out a loud moan and put her face in the crook of your neck, trying to stifle her noises into your skin. you quietly groaned when she bit down as you hit a certain spot inside of her, and with the way she was clenching around your fingers, you knew she was close.
"are you close, baby?" you asked. "you want me to make you cum all over my fingers? hm?"
she nodded feverishly into your neck, her moans and whines getting louder. "yes- yes yes please- please let me cum- y/n, please," she babbled as her hips grind into your hand faster.
"go on. cum for me, my pretty girl," you whispered.
she let out a loud whine as she came, her eyes rolling back as her head leaned back and hit the wall with a dull thud, her legs shaking with her body falling slouch against you.
"good job, baby," you pressed a soft kiss on her head, gently pulling your fingers out and sucking them clean. "you did so good for me." your say softly and wrap your arms around her. "you wanna go back to the room?"
all suki did was nod in response, her arms around your neck as she slowly came down from her high. you chuckled lightly at the somewhat answer you were given and patted her head.
"alright, you're lucky i was the only one today."
"shut up," she mumbled into your chest.
"back to normal, i see."

Steel in Her Veins, Chapter: Twenty-Four
Read On: AO3 | Table of Contents | Next Chapter
Characters: Fem!Reader x Roronoa Zoro
Tumblr media
Chapter Twenty-Four: You Want to Come Over and Touch Me, Too?
Swallowing hard, you face Law’s burning gaze with a pretence of hot-headedness.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you respond, narrowing your brown eyes into a feline glare.
What with Bepo’s word against yours, you’re aware that lying would be an incredibly weak attempt at brushing off Law’s accusation; regardless, with a sense of overcoming pressure washing over you, you’re willing to say anything but admit to a confession.
As expected, Law scoffs at you hugely. He pulls his arms into a tighter cross. “Really? You’re trying out that tactic with me?”
And for the next few moments, you’re locked in a combative, narrow-eyed staring contest with one another.
Leave it alone, your eyes say as they slope further into more threatening slits.
Law’s eyebrow’s twitch bemusedly. I don’t think so, they counter.
CLANG!
The resounding crash of metal against metal reverberates through the crow’s nest like a war cry, prompting you to whirl around, your senses honing in on the source of the disruption. There stands Zoro, towering like a behemoth, his grip on the weights loosened deliberately to create the cacophony.
Your eyebrow arches with scepticism, a silent question hanging in the air. Zoro's response? A nonchalant shrug that screams anything but nonchalance, accompanied by a sardonic grunt that could rival the roar of a disgruntled bear.
"Oops," Zoro deadpans, the word dripping with sarcasm so thick you could cut it with one of his swords.
Rolling your eyes at the dramatic gesture, you turn back to Law, your arm quickly thrown out in his face.
“Pretend to examine my arm and I’ll talk.”
As Law's inked fingers grasp at your skin, you can't help but flinch slightly at his cold touch, albeit his handling is soft and gentle. But instead of merely feigning his examination, as you had half-expected, it becomes evident that Law is taking his task quite seriously. His demeanour shifts from bemusement to intense focus, his brow furrowing as he meticulously examines your arm.
You swallow, your throat suddenly feeling like it’s swelled up to twice its size. “What I’m about to say stays between us and Bepo, understood?”
Law pauses his examination, his gaze lifting from your arm to meet your eyes. There's a spark of curiosity across his countenance as he gives you a singular nod.
"Understood," he replies evenly, his voice low and hushed. "But firstly, why are you hiding yourself from your own crew?”
You pick up the Uchiko ball that softly drapes itself over the Enma. Like a lover holding onto its source of dear respite, it reluctantly rolls away into your fingertips – fingertips that twirl with such effortless precision, you could mistake them for a horologist’s.
You sigh, frowning at the powder ball - as though this little tool has been your main source of trouble from the very start.
“Because, if word gets out about my identity, then I’m a danger to all of those who I care for. If I tell the crew, there’s a chance it could accidentally be spread to others. That not only some mysterious force wants me, but also that a former Wano hotshot, related to Oden, has left the country and has a 'free snatching for all!' sign written on her head.”
Law’s dark eyes are lowered as he wipes your arm with an antiseptic, a needle laying idly in one of his medical kits. “So, people are after you.”
You nod, now touching the Enma by her hilt. Newly leathered and greased, she’s ready to go back to her owner. You dab the ball on her sharp edge, powder releasing across its shimmering surface.
“I have no idea what all these fuckers want from me. Random outlaws, the CP-0 and now…creatures that I never knew existed until...” You choke out the last part heavily, biting on your lower lip hard to stop yourself from tearing up. “That’s how…Suki was taken.”
Law snaps his head up to you. “Kozuki Sukiyaki? By who?”
You furiously shake your head, feeling the burn in your other hand slice through you as you experience the pain of losing your Gramps all over again. “Something…It swallowed him whole like some fucking jelly. It sucked the life out of everything it touched. I-I can’t get it out of my head.”
Law stares at you gravely, his cold fingers tightening over your wrist almost imperceptibly. His tone is serious now – almost demanding – as he proceeds to question you through gritted teeth.
“What did it look like?”
You look back down at him, something clicking in place for you, too. Law must know something about it - must have experienced something similar.
You answer with only one heavy word, the tip of your tongue burning in resentment for the shadowed being. You breathe it out, choking on its taste, its gel-like macabre invading your vision once more.
“Eyeballs.”
Law's expression shifts incredibly into a sort of contained fury. His eyes narrow slightly, a flicker of understanding crossing his features.
"Eyeballs," he repeats, his voice barely above a whisper. The air lays thick as the shadowed body itself – translucent and unbreathable - as he processes your words, his eyes holding a type of withered rage within them.
CLANG!
The sharp clang of metal reverberates through the crow’s nest yet again, cutting through the heavy silence like a blade slicing through cloth. Startled, you and Law both turn towards the source of the disturbance, your gazes locking onto Zoro, who stands amidst the weightlifting equipment, his expression unreadable but his body language speaking volumes.
"What now?" you mutter under your breath, irritation lacing your words as you eye the swordsman, who seems determined to disrupt your conversation with Law.
With a casual shrug that belies the underlying tension, Zoro meets your gaze head-on, his demeanour challenging. It's as if he's daring you to confront him, to question his motives for disrupting your discussion.
You exchange a quick glance with Law, who remains stoically observant, his gaze flickering between you and Zoro with a hint of intrigue.
With a grumbling sigh, you turn back to Law, silently urging him to continue the conversation despite the Bull-Head’s intrusion; there are matters that need addressing, and you refuse to let Zoro's antics derail your focus.
Law's gaze remains fixed on Zoro for a moment longer before he turns his attention back to you, his expression guarded. For a moment, there's silence between the two of you, the weight of your confession hanging heavy in the air.
Then, without a word, Law begins to open a freshly packaged needle.
"I've encountered them before," he finally admits, his voice low and tinged with bitterness. "Penguin - one of my crewmates… he was taken. Before your Captain rammed into us, we were trying to find him.”
You feel your heart thrumming on the tip of your tongue. “Why him?”
“I don’t know yet. I think they mistook him for me, as ridiculous as that sounds,” he says between gritted teeth. He nudges his head to your skin. “Did this happen after Kozuki-ya was taken?”
You give a terse nod.
“Then that’s one problem crossed out; the trauma of Eyeballs has triggered the transformation. But what I’m more curious about is whether your transformation would have happened regardless. Is this inherited or was it done by an external factor?” he mutters the last sentence more to himself than anything.
He runs his inked fingers across your arm, tracing the blackened and iridescent blue veins of your skin ever so lightly, ever so softly, that your stomach uncontrollably drops in response.
CLANG! TWANG! CLANG! CRASH!
Your frustration bubbles to the surface as you whirl around again, expecting to find Zoro once more amidst the weightlifting equipment.
Sure enough, there he stands, his imposing figure casting a shadow over the room as he eyes you and Law with an unreadable expression. But this time, there's a subtle shift in his demeanour, a tension that thrums beneath the surface as his gaze locks onto Law's hand gently caressing your arm.
You raise your eyebrows at Zoro, your eyes completely dead-panned.
“You want to come over here and touch me, too?” you call out.
Zoro's expression flickers with a mixture of surprise and annoyance at your blunt remark. He opens his mouth to respond, but no words come out, his usual retort lost in the face of your bold challenge.
Meanwhile, there's a small smirk on Law’s mouth as he watches the events unfold like some sort of referee.
And before Bull-Head finally finds his voice, you brazenly interrupt him with a sarcastic smile and a dramatic flick of a switch.
The unused walls that partition the floor of the gym and the workshop now groan from its wake, slowly rising to its now-welcomed intrusion. With the last few glares that you receive from the samurai, you dramatically wave back at him with a devious cock to your head.
As the mechanical walls shudder in its succession, you turn back to Law with a satisfied smirk. In response, Law watches you with amusement twinkling in his eyes, clearly entertained by your bold maneuver to ensure privacy for your conversation.
And finally, the rumbling stops, the barriers are in its full splendour, and you can now go back to business.
"Well, that takes care of that," you remark, crossing your arms and leaning against one of the now-closed walls. "Now, where were we?"
Law flicks up a needle in his hand. “You okay if I take some of your blood with me?”
“You creep me out, Trafalgar,” you mutter, giving him a heavy side-eye. Alas, Law stares at you with a pointed look, waiting for you to give your actual consent; in reply, you smile at him a little, thrusting your hand out. “Go for it, doc.”
As the needle gently finds its way into your skin, you silently watch Law draw your blood with a sense of ease and nonchalance, as if he’s done this a million times – good, you think to yourself. You were a little worried that he was lying about his profession for a second.
Law decides to suddenly break the silence whilst idly watching your blood seep into the vial's reservoir.
“I hope you know that we’ve been to Wano. Your crew have met people you’ve probably not seen for a decade.”
Your heart stammers incredibly hard in your chest from his sudden comment, the realisation of his words slamming into you like a ton of bricks. You have not heard about Wano since you left - nor did you ever want to. But the fact that your crew has now seen and met the people that you have not even…
It scares you.
Because - what do they know?
Because - what has happened since you were gone?
But - should you care? You've revoked your title and all that comes with it to receive a legal grant to leave the country. You are basically a stranger to your home, now – a home you absolutely despised, if that soothes any discomfort that lays within your chest. But you can’t lie that you miss the peace. And the people. Well, some of them, at least.
Law looks at you suspiciously, realising that maybe you haven't known about this particular fact until now. He flickers his focus back to the needle in his hand. “I heavily advise you to read through one of their logbooks.”
You swallow, tilting your head to the side. “I don’t want to.”
“You have to,” he responds instantly, a firmness lingering in his tone. “Trust me.”
You pretend to ignore his insistence by turning to the Enma. With a bitten-back lip, you thoughtfully polish the Enma with your other hand, gently puffing the ball on the different areas of her body.
Law takes notice of the sword in your grasp whilst he gently removes the needle from your arm . He slightly purses his lips, pondering amidst the awkward silence on whether it’s a good idea to bring that matter up or not.
Finally, he sighs. He points to the Enma that lays in your hand.
“I can’t believe I’m asking you this, swordsmith, but where do you think Zoro-ya got that from?”
Surprised, you look up at him – and for the first time in the conversation, your voice doesn't come out so self-assured. You furrow your eyebrows.
“Well, we don’t really have that kind of friendship. I-I just assumed someone illegally smuggled it out of Wano, and he found it somewhere.”
“Well,” Law says as he shifts himself off from the mahogany stool. He sweeps off his equipment from the table. “Maybe you should ask.”
You raise an eyebrow at him. “Are you going somewhere?”
“I’m…going to see Mugiwara-ya. To form…another alliance.” He chokes out the last word with a withered sigh, irritation colouring his face like you’ve never seen before. He looks down at you, his jaw clenched. “It seems that we both have a common objective to reach. It would be easier for Tony-ya and I to work together on your arm, too - I would like to document it for future purposes.”
“Hang on - what about Kikoku? Our deal?” You splutter out, vindictively narrowing your eyes at him.
He offers you a rare smile. “Keep it. I’ll come back in a few hours, anyway.”
And as he beelines to the barrier’s door, you can’t help but voice out one last lingering thought.
“Can I ask you one last question?” You call out.
Law silently turns around, leaning himself against the wall. A silent ‘go ahead,' if anything.
You breathe in deeply. “What was my tell? The one that revealed my identity?”
And immediately, Law's lips find its way into a devious smirk as he meets your gaze, a glint of amusement dancing in his eyes. He pauses for a moment, considering his response, before finally answering.
"Let's just say, it was what you said - and also how you said it," he replies, his smirk widening ever so slightly.
And with that enigmatic statement hanging in the air, Law takes his leave, striding confidently out of the room and – quite intentionally – leaving the door between the gym and the workshop hanging wide open. You watch him go, his departure leaving you with more questions than answers.
As you ponder over Law's words, Enma laying loosely within your fingertips, your thoughts are instantly interrupted by the thrum of demanding footsteps.
Turning towards the noise, your eyes lock with his, his imposing figure drawing closer with each step. His wet green hair glistens in the light, and his gaze is sharp as it meets yours.
Zoro's approach is slow and deliberate, his movements fluid and purposeful like a predator stalking its prey. With each step, his presence looms larger, casting a shadow over the room that seems to swallow everything in its path.
With a raise of your eyebrow, you watch him take his place in front of you, leaning his side against the workshop table. He runs his glistening, calloused hands through a damp cloth, his darkening grey eye never leaving yours. You stare up at the lion, the predator that's now silently observing you, as his rumbling voice departs from the tip of his tongue.
“You’re telling me everything,” he lowly demands, sprawling himself on the mahogany stool.

Your thoughts on this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Zuko did not have a conversation with the person the was clearly there to kill him and his friends, thefore he did not care about his girlfriend" is certainly a take.
And I gotta love how they use Sokka and Suki as the exemple of "how an actual caring boring reacts" when Sokka ALSO never mentioned his girlfriend AFTER being told by Azula that Suki was in a miserable, sorry state, and the only reason he was at the boiling rock at all was because he wanted to save HAKODA. Suki was just lucky enough to be there and tag along.
Why is that not used as proof that Sokka doesn't care about Suki, but Zuko not asking questions to the person that is blasting fire balls at him means he never loved Mai? And if not talking about missing/being worried about someone every other scene means the character doesn't care, why do people not complain that Zuko asking about his mother in the finale came out of nowhere since she only ever came up in FOUR out of SIXTY ONE episodes?
Why is it that only Maiko needs to constantly be talked about to prove that the characters care about each other - and why are scenes like Zuko remembering Mai's childhood crush on him after not having seen her in years, or being visibly upset that he has to leave her, or bringing her up when talking to Sokka about THINGS HE'LL MISS ABOUT HIS OLD LIFE completely disregarded?
And why, why, WHY do zutarians act like, even if Zuko didn't care about Mai, that would somehow mean he HAS to care about Katara? During most of "The Southern Raiders" he's being super entitled and acting like he's OWED her forgiveness and friendship just because not having it is inconvenient. Zuko is not "pining" for her, he's basically saying this:
Tumblr media
Also, it makes perfect sense that Azula would not bring up the Mai thing:
1 - Her feelings, and more importantly, her ego, are still VERY hurt by the fact that Mai chose Zuko over her. She literally tells the guards to put Mai and Ty Lee somewhere she'll never have to see their faces again. This could not be more different than the situation with Sokka and Suki - two people that meant literally nothing to her.
2 - She's already snapping a little bit. We see her using her entire hand to firebend instead of her signature two fingers-move that make her flames precise and basically cut through stuff like a blade. Zuko is even able to bend her flames away from him, and for the first time his strength is equal to hers, thanks not only to his new training with the dragons, but also Azula's imperfect fighting style. She's not gonna be thinking of how mess with Zuko's feelings to make him lower his guard, like she did on their first on-screen fight, because SHE is the one deep in the emotional turmoil this time and she isn't thinking clearly, even if she hasn't fully lost it yet.
3 - This fight is very clearly foreshadowing both for the Last Agni Kai AND Zuko's reaction to his victory coming at the cost of Azula's well-being. She's attacking him and his allies, and fully said she wants to kill him - yet when he sees her falling "to her death" he isn't happy like one would expect, even if he's kicking himself for giving a shit later when she inevitably saves herself. That scene was about Zuko's hostile, yet complex, relationship with AZULA. Bringing literally anyone else up would make no sense. It's THEIR moment, completely separate from his romance with Mai.
