Almost every day I think about that first post I saw a few years ago where someone decided that people enjoying the cuteness of otters needed to be destroyed for the sake of ‘reality’ and ‘facts’. The post was open from start to finish that they were telling you that otters did ‘horrible things’ because they wanted to ‘break the illusion’ or whatever. It was full of language and tone that implied or outright said that people were ‘stupid’ or ‘foolish’ for liking otters, and that they should be punished with this information. This fact. This fact that was a twisted form of humans applying their moral concepts on to wild animals, to begin with, but was also simply being put out in to the world to hurt people for liking that animal. And then I think about how everyone started sharing this ‘fact’, post after post sharing the same tone and language of punishment, of implied ‘stupidity’ for ‘not knowing’. People gleefully commented this ‘fact’ on thousands of otter picture posts, they posted it a million times on the otter fan facebooks, they made tiktoks, they hammered it in over and over again. Don’t like otters. Don’t think they’re cute. They’re Bad™️. You’re a Bad™️ person if you like them. And people genuinely believed that. I saw so many people genuinely hurt by this, who thought they were a bad person and needed to stop liking or sharing otter pictures. Or they’d add a little note at the bottom, ‘I know otters are Bad™️ but I still think they’re cute.’ And I can’t not think about how pointlessly fucked up and cruel that entire thing was from the start, and how manipulative and shitty it was. And how it spun out into the universe until even now, on an otter video posted earlier this year, there’s dozens of comments about how otters are Bad™️ because one person decided that this wild animal doing something that is repugnant to humans, the animal with no knowledge that this is Bad™️ or with malicious intent (because it’s a wild fucking animal), meant they needed to hurt and punish anyone who liked that animal. And, finally, that people were so afraid of being seen as morally wrong/Bad™️ that they destroyed their love for this animal on the word of some fucking rando online without stopping to look internally at their own moral compass and understanding of animal behavior.

So, I had this lovely rando drop this message in my inbox today
Tumblr media
Obviously this is just a troll looking to get a rise out of someone, they are blocked and I’m unbothered. But I actually wanna address this real quick.
As creators, we make things to share. It’s FANart or FANfiction. We draw and write and cosplay for the joy of sharing and being in a community of fans. HOWEVER, there is a trend in many fandoms which cause…issues. Mainly people suddenly feeling entitled to your work if you produce a lot of it/make really recognizable stuff for that fandom.
Work created for fun is, first and for most, FOR YOU, not for anyone else. I am a fic-deleter, if I’m not proud of something, or know something isn’t going to get finished, I’ll scrap it and move on. It’s not that big of a deal.
This commenter is discussing a very specific fandom which I did a very large body of work for. But, as it grew, it got more and more toxic. Creating became less fun and more like work. I did try to leave what I made up for people to enjoy, but no one would respect my space when I chose to move on and do work for other things.
So I got rid of it all, despite having a lot of attention and a lot of content. THAT WAS A CHOICE FOR ME. It’s not selfish to delete work that doesn’t make you happy; it lightens the load and helps you become a better creator. It doesn’t belong to anyone else but the person who made it, don’t let ass-hats like this person tell you otherwise.
Be proud of what you make :3 and if you’re not, try something else. Don’t let a fandom dictate what you do or don’t do with your own work (even if it’s popular or beloved)

These so very accurately describe Joe Rogan, Bill Maher, Ben Shapiro, Elon Musk and every other edgy white guy™ who insists on forcing everyone else to engage with them in “the discourse,” and who incorrectly believes that they are mental giants with hot takes and special insight. Growing up, not enough people told them to STFU, and instead treated them like they were a ✨special boy✨ when they were only mediocre at best. Now we have to deal with their boring blandness.

Man, Twitter today was just pathetically sad. Roger was getting jumped left and right by stupid Twitter trolls who think AI is "not a big deal" and "who cares if I copy someone's voice, 'just for the lulz' ", and on top of that, several idiots assuming that Roger makes 10s of 1000s of dollars on each film/theater/TV role he gets, was just beyond sad.
Don't get me wrong, me being a huge fanboy of him I wish him nothing but the absolute best. Is he laughing his way to the bank? I sure hope so! I, for one, would be happy that his acting career is paying off and he is able to make loads of cash. Now, is this actually the case? I do not have the slightest clue, but I am not about to turn into a jealous arsehole if this were to be the case.
The hate he was receiving was just unbearably bad. What? A person cannot defend their own work? Their livelihood? Their means to put food on their table? Are actors are not entitled to receive fair compensation for putting their talents to work? Whether those talents are through Mocap or voice acting or just good ol' fashioned acting?
This screenshot below was one of the most pathetic things I've ever read, and clearly they don't know much about software licensing. And for the record, neither do I. All I know is that just because I buy a physical copy of RDR2 doesn't mean I own the assets inside that disc. It's still Rockstar's property. Arthur and the entire VDL gang still belongs to them, I am merely paying to have access and enjoy what Rockstar has made, but no, it is not "mine".
And even worse to think that someone "works" for you just because you paid a measly $60.00?? 😂
Tumblr media
I don't even know what to say to this MFer here. This is just the tip of the iceberg for the level of stupidity Roger was dealing with today. But Roger, not being one to back down, dealt a quick swift burn to this MFer. Good for him.
Tumblr media
But the entire saga is just nasty. I am only posting those two screenshots and honestly that is too much.

Ok here’s one please vote on this I need to know what to do with hate and mean comments when you spastically put tags so it doesn’t happen. But it happens any way please reblog
I can’t believe I’ll have to start putting no hate comments in bold red letters.

You gotta be a specific kind of pathetic human being to go online and make your shitty little attitude everyone else's problem. Also having a mental illness isn't an excuse to be toxic, if people are avoiding you, its probably because you suck, and not because you're depressed^tm.
To everyone who has to interact with these sorts of people, remember to block, and practice self care. Ghosting is also fine. Choose your own peace of mind, you can't save people who don't want to be saved.

Sometimes I can't believe that, not too long ago, I wrote one story every single day.
Or then I wrote one story every single week.
Creativity comes and goes, I know that, but it's been gone for almost two years now? How long can I go on calling myself a writer?
How can I ever write again, with the state of things (my head, the world) being what they are?

"mean" and it's me calling you out for calling woc bitches (fictional or not). begging you to get off tumblr and grow some balls.
People can be bitches regardless of gender, sexuality, or ethnicity. If they walk like a duck and quack like a duck, then they're a duck. The post you were originally commenting on was how they wrote Kate. It was commenting on a writing choice that made this FICTIONAL character cruel and vindictive. They could have written her a million different ways, but they did not. Therefore, I called the character a bitch. I think Anthony is a bitch too. My opinion is my own, like my friend's opinion is their own. You don't have to like it or agree with it, but the good thing about the internet is that you also don't have to interact with it. I stick to my earlier statement; get a hobby.

I've recently deleted my youtube comment on a fictional character that recently came out by her creators where I was proud of her for coming out, and most of my replies were mostly homophobic people who keeps infuriating me and I tried to fight back as I could and even play along with some of their jokes about that I know it's not true...
But then I thought to myself," you know what I just had enough. I'm going to delete my comment now". So I did. Part of me is glad that I deleted my comment because it's not being flooded by trolls anymore on my mentions/notifications...but another part of me is...mad that I feel like I let them won and is defeated by bigots and trolls? I don't know...I just care about my own health way too much yet I feel like I still did something wrong...I need an opinion or advice on this xx
same anon here! I forgot to mention that she came out as aroace by her creator but people out there are still assuming that she's straight when she doesn't have a canon label at all...
