Shoutout to brainmades with exomemories. Shoutout to introjects with non-canon/non-factual exomemories.
Your memories are just as real and valid, and it's okay to be affected by them.

Here’s some positivity for fictives who feel complicated about their source!
It’s quite common and totally normal for fictives to have complicated, conflicted, or confusing feelings about their source! Most introjects cannot choose our sources, and it’s okay if we don’t know how to feel about them or have difficulties engaging with them for whatever reason. If you’re a fictive who has complicated feelings regarding your source, this post is for you!
🌀 Shoutout to fictives with exotrauma that makes it difficult to enjoy their source!
⭕️ Shoutout to fictives who both love and hate their source at the same time!
🔆 Shoutout to fictives in trauma-formed systems whose source reminds them of their trauma history!
🌀 Shoutout to fictives who are both uncomfortable with being compared to their source, and want to be viewed as their source!
⭕️ Shoutout to fictives who feel like they should separate from their source, but don’t want to die any reason!
🔆 Shoutout to fictives who often go back and forth on how they view their source!
🌀 Shoutout to fictives who love some aspects about their source but dislike others!
⭕️ Shoutout to fictives who have complicated feelings about their source due to being very canon divergent!
🔆 Shoutout to fictives whose ideas about their source would be considered strange, uncommon, or unorthodox by others!
🌀 Shoutout to fictives who wish they could avoid thinking about or interacting with their source entirely due to their complex feelings about it!
⭕️ Shoutout to fictives whose exomemories don’t align with their source, making it difficult for them to understand it!
For any fictive, there is no one right or wrong way to feel about your source. It’s okay and it makes sense to have complicated, complex, confusing, or conflicted thoughts or feelings regarding it! These feelings don’t invalidate you at all as a fictive, introject, or beloved member of your system. You still belong in your system and in the plural community just the way you are!
If you’re a fictive with complicated feelings about your source, please know that we are rooting for you and care about you in all that you do. You should never feel obligated to think or feel a certain way about your source! We hope that you can take it easy for a while and treat yourself and your system with kindness and gentleness in the future. Thank you so much for reading, and have a lovely day!

I need to subject you all to my analysis on Odysseus and specifically the line " I see a man who makes it home alive, but it's no longer you " in " No longer you "
Cutting for Wisdom Saga spoilers, and also it's fairly sad. With the accompaniment of my theory on what the last bit says in ' No longer you '
OKAY SO
Odysseus has changed in many ways from " No Longer You ". He finally decided he would become a monster to make it home to his wife and son. He made the choices he could to make sure as many people could make it home (like sacrificing 6 men to Scylla so the rest could survive.) he's tired and worn, both physically and mentally. But he can't rest until he makes it home. Everytime he let himself rest something has gone wrong. So when the God of Thunder tells him to either kill himself or kill his crew. Be changes. Not only was he betrayed AGAIN from Eurylochus in the entirety of Mutiny, but now he has to make the choice to kill his brother. It changes a man.
If the lyrics really ARE " Island Love ". We hear how worn Odysseus is in " Love in Paradise ". He still hasn't let himself rest, because this Goddess is tormenting him. Not only that, but he is haunted. He is haunted by his crew, his friends, his brothers. Even his mother. Before he couldn't close his eyes because he would see them. But now all he wants to do is close his eyes. He's all but given up. He's accepted he can't see Penelope. This Island is his end.
I don't know about you but ever since those really intense suicidal thoughts I have changed. Now I was given a second chance I fight harder. He hasn't gotten his second chance yet, but he's about to, with the Goddess of Wisdom "risking her life" for him.

Here's the pic i was talking about the other day!! Iirc it's from the last Lifesteal meetup and I'm almost certain it was Squiddo's birthday but I'm not 100%. Also i think the fact that Branzy is So Obviously photoshopped in adds to it So Much. Like he would have blended in just fine behind Parker and Clown but. Nope!

Alright, I won’t write a mini-dissertation about this topic, but it’s time to discuss how Steven turning to stone in the Duat represents dormancy.
First, let me explain what dormancy is. Dormancy is the term for when an alter becomes inactive. They don’t front and you can’t find them in IW. It’s kinda like a volcano. A dormant volcano isn’t gone, it’s still a volcano, but it hasn’t woken up. Many systems describe dormancy as an alter sleeping for an indeterminate amount of time. It isn’t death, however.
Now that we know what dormancy is, we can compare this to Steven turning to stone and Marc’s dialog in the Field of Reeds after.
Marc says to Taweret, “We need to go back for him.” This prompts the very correct response of “It doesn’t work like that,” from the Hippo.
Forcing an alter back from dormancy can have a lot of negative effects on the alter and system. It’s something that shouldn’t be done unless absolutely necessary, as dormancy happens for a specific reason. This is a show with a hippo goddess, though.
Taweret says “You don’t need him anymore, Marc.” Alters go dormant because their role has been fulfilled. All alters have a purpose, not determined by if the system chooses to follow those labels that denote the role. When the body died, Steven had no purpose.

"You are feeding into your lack of connection to reality" I just found your blog and can I just say I love ya. Your post about people not being their source and preventing their own healing by feeding into the idea that they are (paraphrasing) is so, so important to me.
Half my system are "fictives," they've been with the rest of me essentially since the beginning, way back into my earliest childhood. I reached a point in my life where I knew they were "alive" in my head, but thought they were somehow alive as the characters from their source, before I learned that they were just parts of me. But they /were/ just parts of /me./
I was insisting on seeing these parts as the fictional characters from the comfort media of my childhood, dismissing the real personalities, life skills, talents, interests, hang-ups and challenges they had developed over the course of their life, of our life, since initially donning the costume of these characters so many years ago. I was minimizing them and holding them back by reinforcing all this crap about their ""source material"" in order to explain how they could possibly exist, meanwhile they were running my life, keeping me alive, taking care of me while I couldn't. I forced these parts of me to revert to performing and presenting as caricatures of themselves and conceal from me what didn't fit that image for my own comfort, which is insane the more I think about it.
Burying myself in fantasies and fixation about their source material tacked on a good five years or more to my eventual grasping that no, these weren't fictional characters come to life in my head, this wasn't me having a magical connection with the multiverse where they exist, this was me, just me, a deeply traumatized individual, unable to reconcile with the events of my life, sticking my fingers in my ears and talking over myself.
I think it was an ultimately unavoidable stepping stone in my own journey to healing, but it didn't need to go on that long.
This is all such a good explanation of why parts are not their source. I think you covered everything perfectly. I am also glad that you were able to come out on the other side with a better understanding of yourself
This is why we all need to keep in mind that alters are not actually characters, rather the preexisting combination of traits are ones the brain sees as perfect to hold certain aspects of the self.
Fantasy proneness is tied to DID, and needs to be worked on in therapy. It is what allows us to separate ourselves and subsequently our brains from reality.

I’m going to say this on the topic of source separation, approaching it with aggression internally or externally with other plurals is counter productive. Angrily demanding a introtive to leave behind parts of their identity and putting that expectation on them immediately or even eventually is not a healthy mindset to have. It creates anxiety, fear, rushes the introtive and oftentimes hurts them deeply. If an introtive wants to source separate, they may do so at their own pace with encouragement. Harassment and intimidation is not the way to find compromise and resolve tension.

So I've heard shit about how Alastor doesn't swear much because [radio]
Alternative concept:
Al casually bleeping himself
Sometimes, it's clear what he said
Other times are like:
Did he even swear?
He would 100% do it randomly sometimes just to fuck with people.
Certain people in particular

Here’s some positivity for introjects who are connected to their source!
There’s no one true or correct way to be an introject - introjects come in all shapes and sizes, and may have a wide variety of ways in which they view their source! Whether a factive, fictive, faitive, objective, conceptive, songtive, or something else, it’s okay for introjects of all sorts to like their source of feel connected to it. If you’re an introject who is connected to your source, this post is for you!
❤️ Shoutout to introjects who identify with their source’s name, gender, pronouns, sexuality, or other identities!
🧡 Shoutout to introjects who kin their sources!
💛 Shoutout to introjects who identify with their source despite having never directly seen or interacted with it!
💚 Shoutout to introjects whose source is their special interest, hyperfixation, or one of their favorite things!
💙 Shoutout to introjects who roleplay or otherwise engage with the world as their source!
💜 Shoutout to introjects who are source divergent or who don’t identify much with their source, but are still deeply connected to it!
❤️ Shoutout to introjects who like being referred to as their source!
🧡 Shoutout to introjects who are tired of their relationship to their source being policed or dictated by others!
💛 Shoutout to introjects who distanced or disconnected from their source, only to reconnect with it later on!
💚 Shoutout to introjects who often feel ostracized or left out of plural spaces because of how they view their source!
💙 Shoutout to introjects whose relationships to their source are intricate, nuanced, or complex!
💜 Shoutout to introjects who go through phases or waves of feeling more or less connected to their source!
Introjects may not literally be their source, but that doesn’t mean they are morally obligated to abandon connections to their source altogether! Introjects can and often do have a wide range of opinions on or relationships to their sources! It’s okay for introjects to love their source or feel strongly connected to it. You’re still just as valid and cherished as an introject, a member of your system, and a member of the plural community just the way you are!
We hope every source-connected introject who sees this can have a lovely day today. Please treat yourself with the kindness and gentleness you deserve, and don’t judge yourself too harshly for how you view your source! Rest assured, you will always be welcome in our spaces without the expectation to change. Thanks so much for reading, and take care!

Hey systems! I'm very curious and would like to explore the topic, maybe make videos or something about it one day.
Do you do anything to help recover source memories? Does it come to you naturally? Do you have tips, tricks or stories about it?
Something I've wondered about since discovering our system, yet something I've never really seen talked about in the past 3+ years I've been in system communities.
