source memories are weird because how do i have feelings for someone that my source definitely didn’t have feelings for? how can my feelings and memories differ so much from my source? i know the memories aren’t real, but they certainly feel real.

hey it's actually not unreasonable for introjects to be uncomfortable with doubles and you should take that into consideration when interacting. that weirdness you experience when you meet someone with the same name as you? (in some cases, for some people) it's like that times one thousand. introjects have varying levels of comfort around their sources and their own boundaries around them, and that needs to be respected. introjects are not their sources, yes. but if you share a source with someone you need to know what their comfort levels and boundaries are before interacting

i cant explain this well but

introjects are not their source and you shouldnt treat them instantly as such // but also not everyone wants to be separate from their source, and if they feel closely with it it's not your job force them to be someone else

Source separation is acknowledging that you are separate from source.

In my opinion, telling an introject to distance themself from source/change themself to be more different than their source is another matter.

Before you tell an introject they need to distance/detach themselves from it or change their identity in some way (for whatever reason), please be mindful that introjects who are source attached are that way for a reason and its usually trauma related. Messing with their source attachment could be messing with the dissociative barriers that were put in place. Introjection serves a purpose.

An introject becoming different from source/less attached is better left as part of the recovery process and trying to force it too soon can be detrimental
