This mythos of the Black Widow comes to life in the character of Tomie, created by Junji Ito, who has an Anuradha Moon. Tomie is a supernatural girl who comes back to life after the man she was devoted to kills her, and she returns in hopes to remain his girlfriend. Throughout the manga, Tomie becomes a force who drives men to obsession, jealousy, and violence—often murdered and dismembered, only to regenerate and multiply. Despite the horror she inspires, she is irresistible, drawing people back again and again.

Tomie represents the darker shadow of the Anuradha woman—the “perfect girl” archetype that men project their desires, wounds, and rage onto, only to destroy her out of their inability to possess her fully. Yet she always returns—just like the karmic thread of Anuradha devotion. Energetically, emotionally, and spiritually, the bond extends beyond the physical. Anuradha doesn’t date—they bind. Tomie represents this nakshatra's obsessive cycle of love, death, rebirth, and repetition playing out as if it's an ancestral, cosmic punishment to Radha for her devotion to Krishna.

@opalblade has observed that the Anuradha women may be linked to Radha who was known as the chief consort and recognized for her devotion and loyalty.  Krishna was said to be satiated only through devotional and loving servitude, personified by Radha, and could be seen as the woman who was "picked" out of the rest of the population for her unwavering loyalty.

We see this in two Anuradha suns, Hailey Bieber and Marina Abramović as well—women who are not necessarily traditional women, yet are consistently surrounded by obsessive attention, reverence, or criticism aimed more at their partners than themselves who represent Krishna-like qualities, such as artist or creators themselves since Krishna's birth nakshatra is in Rohini. Marina Abramović, is perhaps one of the most iconic examples. Most of her impactful work as an artist was done in sacred union with a former lover, Ulay, with whom she collaborated on performances that explored duality, trust, endurance, and loyalty. Yet, her ideas and contributions to their art was overshadowed by him. Their final piece together involved a symbolic parting: the two started walking from opposite ends of the Great Wall of China, only to meet in the middle, and part forever. She later revealed that her partner had cheated on her on the journey, adding a tragic karmic layer to what was intended as a final act of union.

Hailey Bieber, an Anuradha Sun, has become a lightning rod for obsessive public projection and spiritual speculation. Despite never publicly aligning herself with occult or esoteric practices, she has been repeatedly accused of casting love spells or curses on Justin Bieber, and even of being a longtime handler or stalker, allegedly orchestrating their relationship from a young age.

These narratives have ignited an explosion of online tarot readings, psychic analyses, and parasocial investigations, not only aimed at uncovering Hailey’s supposed intentions, but extending into the lives of those orbiting her and her husband. She has become, unwillingly or not, a public conduit for the collective’s fixation on taboo feminine power—especially the archetype of the “dark feminine” who uses hidden or mystical influence to secure devotion and control. These allegation not only come from jealousy, but also due to Justin Beiber's behavior towards her, revealing a dark, unattractive, drained side that is shown rarely to the other women around him yet only towards Hailey. I want to express again in detail this phenomenon more where not only the Anuradha woman becomes entangled and has a lasting bond with her “Krishna”- like partner, but even when the man appears drained, decayed, the woman remains vibrant, strong, unaffected—almost untouchable yet loyal to the partner. Even if it appears the union is destructive/fatal, there is still the inability to release the bond. And these bonds are often lifetimes long. Sharing intimacy with an Anuradha native can result in an addiction or energetic entrapment, especially for the partner. It's not simply romance—it’s devotion, obsession, and karmic tethering. Anuradha’s sexual energy isn't casual; it acts as a spiritual glue, representing the web Anuradha wraps it's partner's in. In this web, we get to see what that entrapping devotion does to the Krishna-like partner that can result in a spiritual, ego-death.

I want to mention first that this also ties into a point @vennavenus made about Solar women, especially in Uttara Phalguni, and how their light illuminates the truth of their partners. They reveal a man’s true capacity for partnership—not through accusation, but simply by being radiant in contrast. If the man withers in the light, it reveals what he carries in shadow.

It’s important to note that Mitra, the deity of Anuradha, though tied to Scorpio’s water, is a Sun god—governing loyalty, spiritual contracts, and divine friendships. The Anuradha woman, then, is not merely a siren—she is the eternal mirror, reflecting her partner's true nature through unwavering devotion. Along with the examples I mentioned where this dynamic is revealed through the various Anuradha women above, it is chillingly embodied in Shelley Duvall, who has an Anuradha Moon, in her iconic role as Wendy Torrance in The Shining. Throughout the film, she becomes the emotional and spiritual mirror to Jack Nicholson’s unraveling character, Jack Torrance who is an author. Wendy is not simply a passive victim—she is a vessel of loyalty and resilience, enduring terror and abuse without ever fully breaking. Her presence reflects Jack’s descent into madness, not by challenging it directly, but by holding space with a painful and maternal stillness.

Her horror is not just fear—it is cosmic witnessing. She represents the feminine face of Mitra (Radha): bound by loyalty, holding the contract of family and care even as it spirals into violence. Her wide-eyed terror and fragility do not make her weak; they make her a vessel for Anuradha’s sacred role—mirroring the truth of what has been hidden.

In this way, Wendy Torrance becomes the embodiment of the Anuradha Black Widow archetype—not in the sensational sense of seduction and death, but in the deeper, esoteric tradition of the devotional feminine who holds space for transformation through decay. Her unwavering loyalty and presence act as a kind of spiritual ouroboros: a cyclical ritual in which the man must confront his own reflection, his madness, his ego-death, in order to complete the karmic loop.

Wendy is not there to destroy Jack—she is there to initiate him. But like many Anuradha figures, her love and loyalty become catalysts for ego-collapse, especially in men who are already fragile or fractured. She represents the silent keeper of cosmic law, the one who maintains her vow even as the contract rots, until karmic justice enacts itself. Her resilience is not passive—it is sacred, Saturnian, and binding. The Anuradha woman does not need to raise a weapon to be dangerous—her very presence demands transformation. And in The Shining, it is Wendy’s survival, not Jack’s violence, that carries the deeper spiritual victory.

Dpx Dc AU: Ectoplasm is required for Ghosts to be visible to the human eye- And Danny creates his own ectoplasm.

Danny is visiting Jazz in Gotham and its weird how friendly everyone is. Like, the city gets a really bad rapport, everywhere he goes there is someone trying to strike up a conversation or answer his questions about getting around to the tourist spots. A few people even pointed out restaurants and ways to find off the beaten path gems! Jazz seems to role her eyes at him, but when he brings up her 'roommate' being kind of cute she flat out laughs.

Danny then comes to understand the Jazz doesn't have a roommate and that Ghosts in Gotham don't move far from their haunts- He's just been inadvertently turning these undead folks visible by accident of generating abnormal amounts of ectoplasm.

Which, is comforting in a way, he's never walking this dangerous city alone and really, most of the ghosts have been really friendly! They disappear once he's a few blocks away from them anyway.

Tim Drake is having a horrible day.

He'd been given intel that one of Black Mask's guys was going to snitch but that he'd died before given the opportunity to reach out to the GCPD. He tracks down the guy's last know whereabouts and yikes. Its next to the Theater. Tim was often grateful for his childhood obsessions, this time it backfired.

Tim and Bruce get into an argument about trust and respect and, worst of all, mental health. And even though Tim was vehemently against Batman accompanying Red Robin to the alleyway - that's exactly what happens.

They arrive and Bruce is closing up faster than a clam in the contaminated Gotham Bay- Clearly being in the Alley bothers him. No fucking shit. RR gets started on collecting evidence, there are a few extra blood splatters and a single left shoe... When a kid walks into the Alley.

"Uh, sorry to intrude-" The kid looks scared shitless, and runs away. And then, all of a sudden, Batman and Robin aren't alone in the Alley.

Tim can hardly believe his eyes as the dead man appears and quickly blabs Black Mask's bank passwords and what the plan had been- and While he's over joyed to have that closure, he turns around to Batman weeping in the arms of his parents.

The ghosts fade, and the emotions are certainly charged as this was never something Bruce or Tim would have ever dreamed of happening. Ghosts in Gotham. Talking, floating, granting closure.

"RR, Bats, come in." Oracle calls into their ears.

"Reporting in, but, uh, we need a minute."

"A minute? We have a case on 4th and-"

"O, we just saw the ghosts of the Waynes. It's going to be a minute."

"...Lots of Ghost reports lately then. Any chance you saw a kid looking like he could be adopted?"

"Yeah, actually, black hair and blue eyes. He was super polite before he ran away."

"We have work to do. Oracle, lets prioritize finding our person of interest and divert Nightwing and Robin to the case on 4th." Batman cut between them on the comms and he sounded... calmer than either of them anticipated.

Jazz is no longer laughing when Batman appears at her door explaining that he's looking for Danny (Who already flew away from town to get a good night's sleep before class on Monday). Turns out Danny reunited the man with his dead parents just briefly- and then the second guy appears and mentions how Danny had also given a guy who'd been murdered by a Mob enough time to explain the ongoing threats the city faced.

Jazz just rolls her eyes and says that it's not like the ghosts are going anywhere anytime soon and Danny will visit in another month. When pressed, she just explains that her brother is a weirdo. No of course he doesn't have powers. Gaslight and Girlbosses her way out.

And Jazz thinks that the game is up for at least another month, obviously when Danny visits more shit will stir up, but then this new guy appears.

Unlike the other Bats who are keen on watching her from a distance, the Red Hood knocks on her door. Are her eyebrows all the way into her hairline when Red Hood asks her to send his thanks along to Danny because somehow this whole situation led to his Dad expressing remorse for his actions and apologizing? Yes, yes they are.

But Jazz can smell Dissertation Data off of these vigilantes- Who is she to send them away? Jazz welcomes Red Hood into her place for a cup of tea and a small chat.

The story then devolves into Jazz getting shit done, Danny being cute by proximity and also bringing ghosts to the party, and the Bats having trauma resolve between them.

Vertigo and Eddie Diaz

because the connection has been made between eddie's current arc and hitchcock's vertigo, i thought i'd give my two cents on the topic as a mediocre film student whose had to study vertigo for two years of her life

so here's a basic (very over-simplified) summary of vertigo for those who are unfamiliar

The protagonist, Scottie, is a policeman who took a break/was discharged/retired because he couldn't save a fellow police officer from falling off a building to his death

Because of this he suffers from vertigo and/or fear of heights

He's hired by his old friend Gavin to follow Gavin's wife, Madeline, for fear that she's been possessed by someone called Carlotta Valdez

He does so, and slowly falls in love with Madeline - and her him

We also learn that Scottie's best friend Midge is in love with him, but he's too obsessed with Madeline to notice Midge

Him and Madeline go to a church bell tower where Madeline seemingly offs herself by jumping off

Some time later, Scottie goes to Madeline's old hotel room, and finds a woman called Judy who looks exactly like Madeline

She agrees to go on a date with him

We, the audience, find out that Judy actually is Madeline (and vise versa). She was hired by Gavin to pretend to be Madeline.

Scottie grows more and more obsessed, forcing Judy to change her appearance to look like Madeline

He makes the connection that Madeline and Judy are the same person, and drives her to the bell tower

He forces her up the tower, over coming his fear of heights

Once at the top, they have a confrontation

A nun appears, scaring Judy and she once more falls to her death (really this time)

So, from what I've gathered, the loose connection between characters is:

Scottie = Eddie

Madeline = Shannon

Midge = Buck

Judy = Kim

The Nun = Marisol

Scottie's unable to save his fellow police officer. Eddie was unable to 'save' the people he pulled out the helicopter: "I pulled them out. But I didn't save them." Because of this he suffers from immense guilt and PTSD (as seen in his season 5 arc). He's unable to move on and this hinders him to a certain extent - just like Scottie.

After Shannon's death, he's thrown through the loop again, with the added bonus of him not having been able to save her too. Scottie's job was to save Madeline, and he failed at that, resulting in her 'death'.

Eddie is constantly trying to find a woman to fill that role of Shannon in his and Christopher's life; we see this with both Ana and now Marisol. He's looking for her in them. Scottie does the same - he visits the places he went with Madeline, he goes to her old room.

Eddie finds Kim, Scottie finds Judy.

For a little while, Judy helps Scottie get over and get closure on Madeline. She fills that empty space and allows him to move on. This is what I think Kim is going to do for Eddie.

She looks so much like Shannon but she simply isn't her. We know in later episodes that Buck is going to meet her and proclaim that she's "nothing like Shannon." There's a clear distinction there - Eddie is only seeing Shannon in her because he wants to, because he's still holding onto that idea. I think Kim is going to be the closing point of this ongoing search for Shannon's 'replacement'; someone who looks exactly like Shannon should be perfect, right? But when she too doesn't 'fill' that role that surely must spark some sort of realisation in Eddie, because if not her then who.

For Scottie, he feels betrayed by Judy. He brings her to the last place he saw Madeline, and ultimately, indirectly, causes her death. Obviously I don't believe Kim is actually going to die, but more the idea of her. She's the final chapter of him pursuing Shannon's ghost.

Midge is Scottie's best friend. They met in college and were engaged for a few weeks before breaking up. They spend a lot of time together, staying at each other's houses and going out. She helps Scottie through his vertigo and acrophobia, and tries to 'bring him back' in his grief. At one point, Midge paints her face onto a painting of Carlotta Valdez, showing that she's there and ready for Scottie's love, if he's willing to give it to her.

I believe, in this scenario, Buck takes on her role (for seemingly obvious reasons). Him and Eddie are best friends, they do so much together, he helps Eddie when he's struggling etc etc. Midge is the idea of the 'other woman', someone who is right in front of Scottie's eyes, someone whose always been there for him. However, Scottie is too obsessed and fixated on Madeline that he can't see this and continually brushes it away. You see where I'm going here...

Although Buck potentially doesn't even realize it himself, he has taken on Shannon's role in the Diaz family for years. Eddie already has the 'replacement' for Shannon that he's so desperately been searching for right in front of his eyes.

In Vertigo, Judy and Madeline are the same person, whereas Shannon and Kim are obviously not. However, the comparison still stands.

Scottie meets Judy and immedietely latches onto her because she looks so much like Madeline (duh) and he is so desperate for anything that'll keep Madeline's memory with him. He makes her undergo a series of phsyical changes (dyeing her hair, changing her wardrobe, her style etc etc) so that she appears more like Madeline - so he can get that closure and pretend.

Eddie clearly isn't going to do this to Kim. However, whatever way you spin it, he is projecting Shannon onto her. He saw her, and thought of Shannon, he pursued her because of that, he's doing all this because of Shannon. He is chasing that closure and that moment were he can be like 'Ah. I've finally found someone who can be Shannon for me and Chris.'

I doubt Kim is going to be around particularly long. As much as it sounds diminishing, she really is just a tool for Eddie to have this realization that nobody can replace Shannon, and that that's okay. He doesn't need to find Shannon 2.0.

Now, in Vertigo, when Scottie and Judy are arguing on the bell tower, a nun appears from the shadows and startles them - causing Judy to fall to her death. It's a very abrupt and out of nowhere.

The character of the nun, I think could represent either one of two things. Marisol, as we know, used to be a nun (i'm still not over this btw). That's a pretty straight-forward, clear cut comparison. The nun causes Judy to die, Marisol causes 'Shannon', and the idea of Shannon, to 'die'. This interpretation leans more heavily on Marisol and Eddie staying together, however, so I'm not sure.

The nun could also just represent religion as a whole, and Eddie's Catholic guilt particularly. Eddie tells Bobby that he only really married Shannon because he felt like he had to, he felt pressured into it because of his religious guilt. Despite this, "There was still a part of me that loved being married to her."

There's no doubt in my mind that Eddie loved Shannon. He did, they loved each other, and he still does love her - he always will. I do think that the choice of focussing on his marriage to her and how he "loved being married to her" is interesting though, he doesn't try to clarify that he was in love with her. This could just be because it's a given orrr

Whatever, not really the point.

The point is, the fact he's now "awakened" his Catholic guilt by finding out Marisol was a nun, must mean something for his upcoming arc. In Vertigo, the nun kills Judy. Here, his religious guilt 'kills' the idea of Shannon??

I'll definitely have more ideas about this later but this was my word vomit for now! Let me know what you think please.

(Also something I find funny is that the actress of Madeline/Judy is called Kim!)

I've been reading about the male takeover of human society circa 10,000 years ago- the loss of egalitarian, cooperative woman-led societies to the kind of horrific, gloating warmongering and obsession with control we associate with all male domination. It began in Europe and swept outward across the entire world, reorganizing goddess-worshiping societies in the image of men and beginning an ongoing age of conquest and female suffering. I've been thinking about the social dynamics of conflict vs cooperation- how easy it is to take advantage of a cooperative situation, dissolving the trust required into antagonistic individualism. Cooperation is the more advanced social structure- it requires a majority of participants to hold. It requires communication and resolution. Cooperation benefits all parties, while conflict disadvantages all parties, but is pursued anyway in order not to be the most disadvantaged. Conflict creates hierarchy, cooperation creates equality. It is difficult, in a competitive situation, to create cooperation. It requires risking betrayal. Two people in a very large competitive group attempting to create cooperation are constantly pressured to betray each other- cooperation without a majority is vulnerable. It must be highly valued. Polls and pundits say part of our new president's appeal is his appearance as a strong leader. This only matters in a world of constant domination where each country is threatening to terrorize, exterminate and exploit the others. In a warmongering world, no one can let their guard down. We need a chief who will make sure we're the biggest kid on the playground. Braggadocio, chauvinism- a gleeful willingness to step on the weak is what guarantees survival. The most destructive personalities take power because they pose the biggest threat. Cooperation dissolves and becomes even more impossible. Everyone loses. But I don't think conflict as a social strategy is inevitable. Nothing is possible without cooperation- it is constantly being developed. Cooperation can be created and held against the occasional person who takes advantage of it. It is women who create it, and men who destroy it.

The Tenth Hole: Tolkien Archive Dive 3/29

Many here know of my (equal parts academic and morbid curiosity) ongoing investigation into the portrayal, or rather, strategic omission of bodily functions in Tolkien. After my last failed archive-dive, I finally caught a second-wind and decided to look at the pre-print plates of the History of Middle Earth in the Bodleian Library. After a fruitless hunt through earlier plates, I came across Volume 8, where I chanced upon two pieces of curious marginalia buried within an early, mercifully abandoned draft of Fellowship.

We must continue in our practice of the Hollowing, as was taught in Rivendell of old: to mark an additional hollow beneath the roots of trees, in remembrance of years past.” And Legolas nodded, saying only: “The trees remember.”

It is only in the following segment, however, that The Hollowing is properly explained, here presented in its scanned copy form directly.

A shite hole? An empty shite hole?

Obviously, this was the first I heard of the matter too. Turning to The History of Middle-earth, Volume X (Morgoth’s Ring: drafts), I began combing the Annals and linguistic appendices because, well, it sounded like an interesting practice even outside of my specific area of interest.

Buried (quite fittingly) in a nearly-legible margin of an abandoned draft of The Shibboleth of Fëanor, I came across what appeared to be a secondary reflection by another author, regarding the initial fate Fëanor had envisioned for the Silmarils. Once I located that specific tome, I realised the paper was smeared and dusty, and the page itself bound upside-down in the volume, but I managed to get a scan. It's presented quite tersely as simple dialogue, with F standing for, obviously, Fëanor and M for Manwë.

And there we have it, another potential version of the fate of the Silmarils. This act, though omitted in later editions of course, just might shed disturbing light on the oft-quoted line: “...and Fëanor perished, but his spirit was consumed from within.”

I also ended up thinking, well, had Fëanor consumed the Silmarils in advance, Morgoth would have found himself with little more to steal than constipation. And thus, the High King himself would have been spared. Perhaps in his obsession with possession, Fëanor could have inadvertently saved his father’s life, though at the expense of his own dignity. And yet, was his father not dearer to him than dignity too?

Unfortunately, when I presented my findings, the archivists at Special Collections were less than thrilled.

Arcane Timebomb fanfic recommendations

Omg! Look who's back after months of inactiveness on tumblr? Honestly I feel like I'm only coming back here after I find smth new to obsess over and need to satiate my cravings for content. It happened with staticradio, and now... TIMEBOMB??

I know I am not the only one who's mind have been taken over by this particular ship after the finale of Arcane season 2. It's one of those ships where its basically canon, but just the confirmation isn't enough to satisfy our hearts without the content along with it.

There is SO many fanarts out already (I am not complaining one bit) and although the Jinx x ekko tag has been growing exponentially on ao3, I haven't seen a lot of recent fanfic recommendation posts yet and I want to change that.

More unusual language on AFPE, “Joy”

Error:  unusual word choice:  “Whoever it is that sends me these items rarely ever sends me items fully created.”  Fully created is a strange choice here.  People would use “complete” or “whole” when describing full items.  Maybe they are thinking sketches?

Hey, W gets very positive after drinking the Joy:

“But how lucky am I? I just know I’m going in the right direction with this website, I’m so happy I’m in this position. I promise I’ll keep going. The advertisement for this product was right, too. It does need tasting to be believed.”

In the ad, Joy is described as “putting the pep back in your step” crediting caffeine as the source of this invigoration.  But it does say “Even the gloomiest of days don’t stand a chance against the refreshing, flavorful, and vivacious taste of joy.”  Listing gloominess is interesting, because it doesn’t just describe an outlook on life, but also insinuates darkness.  The primary definition is actually more specifically about darkness:  “partially or totally dark/ having a frowning or scowling appearance/low in spirits/causing gloom/lacking in promise or hopefulness”

I think this could be important given W’s discussion of losing eyesight on the Toy Box page.  They make it sound like an ongoing issue, but the toy box page does come after Joy.  I guess if Joy was working properly, W’s eyesight would be better.  But I do think the shift from the entry on April 12 to the Joy page shows a shift in mood from the gloomy to the positive.  W rarely is so straightforwardly excited about things.  They are generally concerned about the strangeness. 

W did express some relief with this update, however, that seems more related to relief that they haven’t seen hauntings on the main website.  (But could also be the opposite, the relief coming from drinking Joy.) I think the evolving picture we are getting with some of the merchandising for the show is starting to lean toward the nefarious.  We now have indications that there are collectors of WH merchandise (buggle ad) which indicates a fandom/obsession. We've already seen this in W, and could be related to some interplay between WH's world and ours through merchandise. In addition, if Joy really is mood altering or impacts the sight, then that could have a negative impact on the audience, intentional or not.
