I admit that I hate how Selena and Azalea don't recognize Jodie despite the fact that Josh has black hair and a completely different outfit. That's to me the writers making it look like Appalachian people are stupid.

It doesn't help that even though Josh and Jodie are both southern, Josh is supposed to be more civilized because he's part of the modern world. Notice how his accent isn't as thick as Jodie's even though he still lives in the same general area. It's like we're meant to embrace the familiar appearance of Elvis and laugh at how unnatural he looks playing Jodie.

Even Elvis himself hated the blond wig to the point where it might have shaped how many scenes of him as Jodie made the final cut.
