What can you do to help the environment? Start eliminating single use items. Write your Congressmen about your concerns. Start a group that helps clean up your city. I got my hands on 2 of the books in the Bourbon bros series & wow… I literally read this one yesterday. I haven’t been glued to a book like that in forever. What I think is super effective about her writing is that it’s concise. It feels like authors are being forced to write 362 pp. novels by their editors. This one was so great bc there wasn’t any superfluous writing. She got in, told the story and left us wanting more. I think that’s the gift of a talented writer! To never being able to stand up for yourself or always having a "victim mentality" of they did this to me and I can't do anything about it. Take responsibility for yourself, your actions and how you communicate. If you do not want to do something, say so, you don't need to give anyone an explanation as to why. It could be that you've already taken on too much, but felt guilty saying no. It's up to you whether or not you wish to help out in any given situation when asked to do something. It could be that you just don't speak up for yourself at all, and always have a partner, family member or friend interject an answer for you. It's one thing to have someone order dinner at a restaurant, it's another to have someone answer a question for you, when you were asked that question directly. You may have been told to be quiet your whole life and may not understand how to speak up for yourself or you may be extremely shy. There are many blogs, podcasts, books and videos on how to build confidence and gain the ability to communicate. How to be assertive without being aggressive.
