My question is what inspired you to make such a dark ass au? The concept and designs are beautiful, but what inspired you to make it go so dark for minor aged characters? As for your actual question, a few different reasons.

One, I just. Didn't really care to change their ages very much from actual canon. I'm a minor as well (16) so I tend to have characters that are around my age LOL. It's just never crossed my mind that. The minor characters being involved in dark things would like. Add to the horror, I guess? Maybe cus I'm one of said minors IAHWIEBF I have no idea.

Two, I just. Like dark topics LOL. Always have. My interests involve bondage, taxidermy, body horror, etc etc. I just put a lot of that into my work, I love drawing gore and making art w/ dark themes (even bigger bonus if it means I also get to contrast it w/ bright visuals) addams family as a concept is honestly quite dark when you look closer at some of the jokes and situations, I'm just not very good at comedy so that kinda got lost which is a 'my bad' moment

Three, i didn't want to make light of specific topics so I keep and present them dark (for example, Leo stalking Usagi. I'm not gonna make light of stalking and abuse to keep a more lighthearted tone. I'm just not. So. Yeah). I think it's in bad taste to present certain things like that more comically, and I'll take the L of diverting from the source material a lot for it.

I wouldn't compare it to LFLS really! Lfls is a wonderful fanfic made by a wonderful person, but I think. What we try to achieve and the points/ideas we present are very very different, ya know? Hers is angst with a point, I'm just here to get groovy/j

I like the dark topics and I like presenting them as such, ISHDIFBFJ. Maybe it's just my low-empathy talking, but I like what I've done and I'm gonna keep improving it! I just. Idk, I enjoy it. About as simple as that!

I did at least try to go for some difference then other 'dark turtle' AUs I've seen! No hate to any of them, they get all the hearts and flowers from me, I just wanted something different and hopefully. Achieved that! Yay! :D

I'll limit to my top 10 and my one least favorite because it's hard, and emotional attachment factors into this rather than how well-executed they are.

strandedinmidgard's blog-Back when I was in high school and early college, and Tumblr blog archives and asks could be accessed without an account, I would send asks to a blog called strandedinmidgard. It's still up, but not very active. Wonderful art and humor. Try to guess which asks were mine. I didn't have a Tumblr account back then yet I would frequent that blog.

Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers (aka "Loki (2004)" on readcomiconline)-Changed my brain chemistry. I am that bastard old man's number one defender. He's so tragic!!! If you read a comic with Marvel!Loki, make sure this one's included. Especially if you love grimdark things.

American Gods-Brief yet compelling antagonists. Has great dialogue and provides great prison advice. Quite mysterious.

MCU-He's kinda adorable? The best part of movies I'd have not liked otherwise (*cough* Avengers). Looks so pretty when he cries, which makes me want to make him cry. Keeps sacrificing himself. Good for whump material. Got me into Norse mythology by making me curious enough to read the Wikipedia page for it.

Ikol (Marvel comics)-They have a very tragic origin as a copy of the original earth-616 Loki. I love characters that fight against destiny. Pretty fun. They're very stylish too.

The Bifrost Incident-I love her voice, and I was introduced to this album because I hosted the "Tournament of Lokis." The verdict was that she is the best Loki.

Loki: A Bad God's Guide to Being Good. It's Diary of a Wimpy Kid but with Norse mythology! Loki is turned into a child for his misdeeds. It is also not afraid to have sincere moments and character development.

Black Wolf : The Binding of Loki-This Loki is a terrible person but he's very interesting and reads like a force of nature more than anything. It was a well-written yet very long book.

Son of the Mask-Terrible movie, but I felt I owed him for making me feel better about myself through him being a flawed deity and for introducing me to the concept of polytheism. I had too much anxiety over going to hell as a kid over lies I had to tell. Helped me in a weird way.

Valhalla comics-Peter Madsen. This are a somewhat more child-friendly re-telling of Norse myths but with a lot of slapstick humor.

Least favorite:

ROR. I just hate that anime and I am not a fan of the designs. The concept sounds lazy to me. The weird Adam battle made me cringe. I only watched some episodes years ago cus my dad will watch anything.

Published or unpublished? Because have so much favorite dialogue from all of the published chapters. And not much to choose from for Ch. 8. So I guess I'll do one of each.

The first is from Chapter 5, where Erik has just played her an excerpt from his new composition and Christine is feeling quite inferior to him, as an artist. She says that she has no genius of her own. Which Erik is of course very offended by:

"You must never forget that skilled as I am, though I say it myself, I am not so powerful as to be able to imbue talent where there was none before. I am only able to foster what nature has already gifted you. Do you understand me? And please say that you do, Christine, for you must know—know—that it is not in my nature to lie about music to spare anyone's feelings; even yours."

And then I don't have much dialogue at all written for Ch. 8, but this kind of connects to the above incident:

"Father always said he wasn't really talented," she sobbed quietly. "He said he simply practiced well. When he would tell me of the Angel of Music, I asked if he'd ever heard the Angel, and he shook his head and told me that he'd never been so blessed."

And Erik connects this with the fact that Christine did the exact same thing earlier in the evening.

OK its not terribly funny, per se. I've been forced to confront today that I just don't do a lot of comedy in my writing. Except perhaps for the passage in chapter 5 where Erik mentally calls Carlotta a "contemptible cow" and then considers making her "moo" instead the next time.

But this is a scrap I have written for a future chapter:

Only Meg Giry had made any effort in those first few months to befriend her, and that had been an exercise in understanding when Christine required her solitude. That must have been quite an effort for little Meg, curious and nosy as she was. More than once he'd had to hold closed some hatch or panel which Meg had sniffed out to prevent her from confirming her discovery. She was a chronic pebble in his shoe.

So I've been reading Driven by the wonderful and lovely TryingNotToLoveYou, where each chapter is named after and accompanied by lyrics from a different Depeche Mode song. Now I LOVE Depeche Mode. Every fic (published or WIP) that I've ever thought of for poto has a title taken from a DM song. It's just such PotO music.

One song in particular has always stood out to me: A Question of Time, in which the narrator expresses his fear and concern for a young girl and how it won't be long before "They" (this can be interpreted to mean men specifically or society in general) start to take advantage of her. He says "I've got to get to you first, before they do". The song also contains the lyrics "I'll take you under my wing; somebody should" which of course brings to mind "The Angel of Music has her under his wing".

This song was released in 1985 and my idea is for a movie based 1985 AU where a young Christine is an aspiring singer who gets signed to Erik’s record label.

I would love to write this fic. The problem is, its more of a vibe, an atmosphere, than an actual story in my head. I don't think I could write a story for any time period after 1918 to be perfectly honest.

In some ways I feel like I have a better understanding of life-patterns older periods. And the 80's would be particularly tough for me because its kind of in the middle as far as history goes. Its not far enough back to feel like fantasy-land but just far enough back that I wasn't alive yet and I don't even have a firm enough grasp of life in the 90's to fall back on (I was born in 95). So even though I'm probably the most familiar with the 80's out of any period in the mid-20th century pop-culturally, I still feel unqualified. And as for plot? Beyond this starting point, I have no idea where I would even start. I can't imagine writing any kind of long-fic, especially a modern!AU one. When the Longing Returns is actually just a short fic that has been stretched out by my excessive wordiness 😅😂

I am genuinely curious about something. Do you think voldemort spends all day in front of mirror in the mirror so he could get a glimpse of Harriet? Or does he have some ward or something that notified him everytime Harriet was near a mirror and he rushes out of the death Eater meeting ecstatic to see his soulmate.

Also you made me cry when I read that regulus had fear of drowning and that snuffles was never comforted by anyone in his life. I wish I had a huge dog 🐶 like snuffles but I am very afraid of them even though I think they are the cutest thing in the world.

The giant snake Hedwig is talking about is Voldemort himself. Hedwig sensed him the first time in the park and made a deal with him — he gets ten minutes in the park, otherwise Hedwig will tell on him on both Harry and Sirius which means the Order will move.

He definitely doesn’t spend all day in the mirror. I like what you suggested, that he has a trigger alerting him Harry is in front of the mirror.

I'm sorry to have made you cry with Regulus’ fear of drowning, but I wanted to make his death even sadder that way, so I chose to give him a fear of drowning. But it also shows how brave Regulus was and how determined. And yes, poor Snuffles 😭 he deserves all the cuddles and hugs! Ugh, I feel you regarding large dogs. I am actually afraid more of the little dogs than the big ones, based on what dogs I met in my life. I wish I could get a big dog, but my apartment isn’t big enough, he’d be cramped, the poor thing. Regarding behaviour, it all depends how they are trained. I met wonderful small and large dogs and sometimes I met terrible large and small dogs — my friend has a fear of small dogs cus one bit her when she was a kid!

I gotta say, I favour big dogs bcs they are the cutest and cuddliest. If you ever cuddle with a big dog, I don’t think you will ever go back to small dogs.

Vent post

When my mom came down this morning I knew today was going to suck. I asked her if she stayed up late because the light turned off late. I was curious. She then started to raise her voice and say that I need to drop the whole light thing. To give context, a day before I texted her late and asked for her to turn the lights off, because I thought she was up, she got angry at this and told me to do it myself. So okay, I did, I turned the hall lights off and went to bed. A couple hours of nightmares and waking up several times later I see the downstair light is on from underneath my door. And I was curious if they were up or not cus it was rly late. So as my curious George looking ass asked if she was up. To which she started freaking out, but I wasn’t upset? Like why would I be? She’s a fucking adult, I’m her child?

I can hear her upstairs screaming about me to my step dad. She’s using some colorful words such as bitch, asshole, and fucker.

I’m just an autistic queer teen trying to not kill myself, can she just leave me alone? This didn’t even have to be a problem this morning. I originally made this post yesterday but it didn't save so I literally spent almost all day today rewriting it and I'm so tired its literally 2am rn

I am currently writing a fic that takes place in Rohan a few years before the events of LotR.

I decided I wanted the characters to occasionally speak in Rohirric. Except, there's no Rohirric in LotR. No problem, I thought. I'll just come up with some Anglo-Saxonish sounding words and phrases. Not a lot - just enough to sound convincing.

Two days on, I'm coming up with verb inflections and conjugations, subject and object pronouns, sentence order, verb placement, vowel length, rhoticity, regional accents, use of the glottal stop, and a list of which verbs are irregular and the (hilarious) reasons why. All based on real Germanic languages, cus I think that's a good starting point.

I fear this may prove to be a terrible mistake. There's going to be a scene somewhere in my story like that bit in 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail', where the guard corrects Brian's verb conjugation.

Sigh.

I am very impressed! That is way more than I'd ever do (I'm not a linguist and I'd want it to be perfect so uh...you see where the rub is). The anglo-saxon shit I riff is as far as I'm willing to go so I'm very impressed!

Starting with germanic - particularly older germanic languages is a good start. Like Tolkien used Welsh as the launch pad for his elvish languages because he liked how it sounded. Also I think some finnish? But don't quote me on that.

So long as Rohirric sounds rolling like hills they live on, as Aragorn described it, I think you've pretty much free reign to do whatever tickles your fancy. A very liberating thing with Rohan is how much world building can be done because Tolkien didn't really invest in it how he did his other peoples and lands.

Even the names he took pretty directly from anglo-saxon and Scandanavian literature without changeing much. (Grima, Eomer, Theoden etc. - all from different sagas and poems. For some he modernised the spelling a bit e.g. þeodnes became Theoden - but both mean prince/lord etc. But others, like Grima, he left as it's found in the Icelandic sagas.)

Anyway - hats off to you, that is some serious dedication. I do hope it won't derail the writing too much! I'm curious what your story is going to be about - prewar years hold such potential.

Dream also did not seem to mourn the cat much, shrugging it off with a "just more motivation to break out".

it was killed to hurt dream, not to "annoy him". it doesn't matter who it belonged to, c!dream was attached to it and it died, which had an effect on him and also further proved his point about attachments being weakness and caring getting you hurt, and it's still very sad.

you say that it was not ok at all to kill mooshroom henry, but the cat's death wasn't ok either, so i really don't see your point.

again, i disagree it was "nothing compared to" either way. i never meant to compare them in the first place, i was simply talking about the cat and c!dream so i don't see why it is in any way necessary to drag c!tommy and other dead pets into this. /nm

also, it isn't true he didn't mourn it. he is a very reserved person who doesn't show his feelings much, that's true, but the cat death still changed the way he acted afterwards, as well as the attempts he made to prevent it. he didn't "shrug it off", he yelled about it because he was understandably upset.

wilbur would continuously make him out to be some sort of oppressive, tyrannical force, in front of his troops - a prime example of this being the lyrics of the l'manberg anthem itself and the l'manberg declaration of independence.

i also said in my previous post what could've possibly caused it, but since the character intentionally hides his emotions from the public, it would be difficult to see how things really affected him - which is why the way his spiral went is the majority of the evidence that would imply it, however it does make sense within the story as well with what i mentioned last time.

I would like to note that for sapnap at least had reason to leave dream. Some examples off the top of my head are dream leading an angry fundy to sapnap's pets on purpose, resulting in some deaths, dream assisting tommy in burning down sapnap's effiel tower where he got engaged to karl, and dream giving tommy either mars or the other fish at the battle of the lake. Idk about george tho other then the whole mexican lmanburg/el rapids thing and decrowning him

c!sapnap was actually at fault for most of this, and it wasn't really ever betrayal on c!dream's part.

c!dream is a mediator and he wants to stop everyone's conflict - c!fundy was angry because of c!sapnap's actions, and hence it made more sense for c!dream to centre him on c!sapnap's animals instead of running around killing everyone's pets (at that time, all c!dream knew was c!sapnap did something really bad and c!fundy wanted beckerson / mars from him, which were also his and c!george's fish).

c!sapnap was an instigator, and in multiple conflicts during the time as well as before he'd align himself against c!dream. he isn't "loyal" per se, he causes chaos and the reason c!dream helped c!tommy was because, c!sapnap, again, killed his pet. the first l'manberg war and then the 16th are signs of the fact that c!dream and c!sapnap were willing to fight together in actual war, but these small conflicts where c!sapnap continuously picked fights weren't about personal loyalty, nor did they seem to affect their relationship at all.

c!george was never really hurt by c!dream either. the dethronement was him very obviously being a guilt-trippy drama queen, but, well, that's just the character. he had stolen the l'mantree while he was supposed to be the diplomatic figure of the greater smp, which is why c!dream was justified in - very politely, may i mention - taking the duties off of him (seeing as he was also trying to keep him safe and c!techno had already assassinated him once).

Im pretty sure i remember cc!sam stating that his character never canonically physically tortured dream during his subathon but take this with a grain of salt as i am looking for the clip currently. So to the best of my knowledge dream did not have a physical contact trigger during tommy's visit which! I rewatched the vod and dream actually was first to hit tommy and i can give you my full writing downs but 10/12 of the phy-

I wanna talk a little on why the Final Control Room was so messed up. For starters, with the way the room was designed. It was small, and had labeled, empty chests with each person's name on them as a mockery. The next reason is that its bascially a kill box.

It's fairly inescapble with the stairs being ones you have to jump up, slowing anyone who climbs them down. The final reason it is messed up is that it is shown to have caused every person who died in it trauma. With tommy there are several examples, the time he saw it with techno, the way he refuses to go near it, the exposure trauma, etc. Fundy also appears to have trauma, as when the Red Banquet executions began, it can be seen as him being afraid of dying last again.

It can Be thought as tubbo having trauma because he buries most of his issues and pretends to be ok. Moreover this event took at least one of each person's canon lives, making it the most canon lives lost EVER in a dream smp event. (This is not hate on any of the ccs btw i loved this scene and its one of my personal favorites). Plus the fact Eret's betrayal just literally happened, giving at least Tommy and Wilbur canonic trust issues.

i wouldn't call the chests mockery? it was a trap. people had traps on the smp before. it was a trap in the middle of war, supposed to end said war by killing them all at once rather than individually which would be a lot more bloody and difficult.

i agree c!tommy and other people might have post-war trauma, especially if they were young during the time, but i think that's because the final control room was "messed up", moreso because the war itself was. it all happened fairly instantly as well? i don't think c!fundy would be able to realize he was the last one standing within the two second before he wasn't.

it "can be thought" and it can be interpreted like that but besides c!tommy there isn't much evidence for them "all" being traumatized by the final control room. of course betrayal would spark trust issues, i understand that.

The probation was humiliating in my opinion because dream was Sending tommy anatgonizing messages through out the whole meeting, plus he had to write a review of his day every single day, which fundy mocked him for.

i mean, it was definitely a strike to his pride, but he was being extremely uncooperative so i don't really blame the other members of new l'manberg trying to teach him to listen for once? of course i know c!dream was riling him up, and that should definitely be considered. i don't think it would be as humiliating if c!tommy didn't make it, is what i'm saying.

for the tommy being toxic to fundy? At least for the examples you gave, to me personally they come acoross as either in a meta way being the cc's bantering or in canon being the characters having banter. If you can send the post with the clips so i can read the tone better that would be cool but if not i will try and find em.

no, these were all in canon. canon isn't only when c!tommy is being nice, it's also when he's being a jerk. /lh

the first one was him threatening c!fundy about kicking him out of l'manberg and undermining his self-worth, and the second one was him trying to get c!sapnap to vote for them via bullying c!fundy.

i found these from a transcript focusing on c!fundy's character, so i don't know exactly where the first one is from, but the second one i am pretty sure is from when the elections were starting with the whole cabinet battle deal and all of that.

there are other instances, and all of them are canon. his personality was never being nice or compassionate, so i'm not really surprised? he still cares about the people he cares about and is very brave, y'know. but this part of his personality is definitely a valid reason for people to dislike him.

Curious anon here one point you may wanna include in the redemption essay is that c!tubbo or c!tommy do not necessarily have to forgive him. What's important is that he recognizes what he did was wrong (exile, beating tommy to death, manipulating them both, etc) and does his best to make amends. Hope this helps! the repeated blowing up of l'manberg (in my mind that's largely a positive since i,, despise that country, but fair enough), revealed c!ranboo as a traitor (they seem to be friends so i also,, think that might've been planned between him and enderboo), sent ghostbur away (i don't think c!dream knew it was dangerous for him and wanted to actually hurt him, but idk), participated in fighting against c!sapnap when he killed people's pets (that's only negative against c!sapnap and didn't seem to hurt him much at all), and then the whole vault scene where he was allegedly planning to steal people's things (though saying he would & being stopped beforehand and doing it are two different things, frankly).

so i still agree with the other anon that a lot of the hurt he did "to the entire server" (he only negatively interacted with like,, a half of them) is exaggerated both by the characters and the fandom, but i guess that's a consequence of most people seeing him as a threat to everyone's happiness rather than a complex personality.

Also he was aware of the butcher army going to kill techno but only got involved because he saw an opportunity to get a favor. (As he knew in advance due to him telling techno to get a totem, watching from afar instead of interveing or manipulating tubbo out of it)

so i was online friends w this white girl Kiki (using names cus idgaf) for years, since I was like 11 or 12, who was an absolute gd nightmare lmao. like she was fucked the fuck up: homophobic, transphobic, fatphobic, racist as FUCK, manipulative af and a major bully to anyone she felt like flexing that on. like she was 4chan trash and made encyclopedia dramatica articles about ppl, ruined their lives and posted their personal info just over petty SONIKKU OC interent drama, and i was like a henchperson for the sake of staying out of her warpath until i was like 16 or so and told her she was a wild ass bitch and couldn't deal with her anymore. needless to say, it was a lot of weird shit to go thru during a very formative time in life. being who i am, i didn't have a ton of friends irl and so online friendships were sometimes all i had.

she also introduced me to someone who would ultimately become my BFF, and they found kiki's tumblr some time back and we'd peer at it for shits and giggles randomly but it looks like she blocked me recently?? i don't genuinely care ofc, but it is such... a curious thing to do given the fact that i washed my hands of speaking to her over a decade ago and the terms we left on were bad bc she was an awful person.

one can't help but wonder the mental process of someone who treated a "friend" so awfully over the course of years, made absolutely 0 effort to atone for being so disgustingly racist, homophobic, and transphobic to a queer trans person of color (i was not openly queer with her bc of it, and didn't understand my gender identity back then). it's just so interesting to me the way white ppl (esp white women) make decisions like this, avoidant and ignorant of their histories and actions, as if they hope that becoming invisible to someone they've hurt absolves them of the impact of what they've done.

Yuta gave you a death glare as you laughed at his current state. The two of you were in Osaka, surrounded by deers and tourists. You somehow convinced Yuta to feed the deer, but he ended up running the other way in fear as the deer dashed towards him. It’s been roughly two weeks since you came to Japan with Yuta and the more time you spent with him, the more he opened up to you. At first, he was the arrogant cousin and heir to the chairman of YG, but now, he was just Nakamoto Yuta. 

Through this trip, you found out that he was more than just the “bad boy” CEO everyone pegged him for. Indeed, he was moody, but ultimately, he was just a misunderstood guy going through life’s challenges. One evening in Tokyo, while the two of you walked down a rather quiet street, he confessed his deepest secret to you. You were shocked to hear what he had to say, but this made you trust him even more. He tore his walls down and opened up to you. He told you he was actually adopted into the Ahn family because his father died when he was just five years old. 

Looking back, you now realized why he disliked Emily so much. She was always privileged and sheltered her whole life, but Yuta had gone through so many struggles throughout his entire childhood. You resonated with him and felt much closer to him. At first, the two of you promised to help each other due to a shared interest in bringing Emily down, but now, it was much more than that. You both knew the pain of abandonment and loneliness. This was much more than a partnership now.

“Are you ready?” Yuta looked at you with anticipation as the both of you entered the elevator to the hotel lobby.

You nervously clicked your heels, “Does it look like I’m ready?”

More anxiety builds up in the pit of your stomach as the elevator slowly approached the tenth floor of the building. You sighed out, “How slow can this elevator get?”

Yuta laughed as he rests his hand on your shoulder, “Don’t worry young one, you’ll get over your nerves after your first time.” The elevator came to a stop and Yuta stepped out as the door opened. Winking at you, he said teasingly, “You have to pop your presentation cherry someday.” You rolled your eyes and followed behind him. 

Today was one of your most life-changing moments and the reason you came to Japan in the first place. You and Yuta created a proposal to make sure Emily wouldn’t be able to mess with NCT or your friends anymore. If the presentation goes smoothly with the Japanese investors, your idea would be even stronger when proposed to make it official in South Korea. 

Despite your anxiousness, you were more than ready to show Japan what NCT is made of. You could hear the noises of businessmen chattering as you walked toward the direction of the conference room. You went over the main points of your proposal in your head before the buzz from your phone snapped you out of your thoughts. You quickly glanced at your phone while walking down the hallway. Memories of the terrible day flashed before your eyes as you stared at your phone screen.

You tried your best to ignore his text, but as your hand went to turn the doorknob to the conference room, your phone buzzed again. A pang of guilt struck you.

His last text endlessly replayed on your mind. Even as you walked into the conference room and Yuta cued for you to start, all you could think of was how Jaehyun must have felt.

Yuta cleared his throat abnormally loud and spoke in Japanese, “Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules for this abrupt meeting. I am Yuta, current CEO of SM, and this is y/n, CEO of NCT.”

You received a strong, but subtle, tap on your back from Yuta and you snapped out of your thoughts. Trying your best to push Jaehyun out of your mind, you spoke into the mic attached to the podium in English, “Today we are here to introduce to you all the future of NCT.” You clapped your hands and the lights in the room turned off. Everyone’s attention shifted to the projecting screen as you smoothly went over the key points of the proposal. 

When the lights were turned on again, you turned your attention towards the investors. With a bright smile you concluded in Japanese that Yuta has taught you beforehand, “We would love for you to partake in this history-making event. Thank you for your time.” 

The room was silent for a second, your nerves were starting to settle in again, but the investors exchanged approving glances and applauded. You and Yuta bowed and exchanged satisfied expressions before he asked the investors, “Are there any questions about today’s proposal?”

A few hands shot up and Yuta strategically answered every one. Your mind quickly drifted back to Jaehyun’s previous text as Yuta occupied the curious investors. He was wrapping up the questions and you were prepared to end the meeting before a hand shot up from the very back of the room. A familiar voice spoke in English, “What are we waiting for? Let’s start now.”

By now the investors have left the conference room and are heading back to their offices. You told Yuta to wait for you in the car while you clean up and he willingly complied. You flashed a tight smile to the man walking towards you, still shocked by his previous, confident statement before ending the meeting. “Long time no see Nana.”

Jaemin sent you a warm smile and pulled you down to sit on one of the conference chairs, “Ditto.”

You stared at him as he sat next to you, stunned that he was here in Japan and at this meeting. You slightly nudged him, and said with a small smirk on your face, “You look different.”

He laughed and ran his hand through his gelled hair. With a dramatic pose, he said in a husky voice, “Do I look sexy?”

You rolled your eyes, playfully hitting him on the arm. “I haven’t heard from you since I left to Paris.”

He chuckled lightly while rubbing the back of his neck, “Yeah… Well, you didn’t exactly respond back after the charity ball incident…”

Your eyes widened as guilt took over you, “I’m so sorry Nana! I never got back to you! Everything was so hectic and my phone just blew up and-”

You felt Jaemin place his hands on your shoulders and he chuckled, “It’s ok y/n. Calm down, take a deep breath. I know your mind has been running like crazy after all that’s been happening. I get it.” He took one hand off your shoulder and ruffled your hair, “Stop panicking, you look too cute.”

You gave him a playful glare as the two of you continued to catch up. “So… Are you officially working as Starship’s heir now? Thanks for telling me by the way.”

Jaemin sighed and replied, “I kept that away from you because you were one of the few people who treated me for me. A lot of girls used me for my status and I didn’t want that from you.”

Faking an offended reaction, you told him dramatically, “You thought I would do that? Na Jaemin, I am hugely disappointed in you!”

He rolled his eyes, “Anyways, I have been working for my father now, but we’re not particularly close. I’m just trying to make my mom happy by dealing with ignorant businessmen and annoying heirs, aka Princesses like Emily Ahn. Hence my appearance here in Japan,” he quickly changed the topic, “So, how’s life treating you Miss CEO? Jaehyun treating you right?”

As soon as you heard him mention Jaehyun your gaze lowered to the floor. You tried your best to be vague as you told him, “Being CEO is pretty hectic. I got a lot of work to do, as you can see. I’m just trying my best to make NCT a success and my friends happy.”

Jaemin gave you a skeptical look as you avoided his stare, “Are you not telling me something y/n? Why are you avoiding my last question?”

You mumbled a quick “It’s nothing,” before Jaemin waved his hands in front of your face, “Hello? Earth to y/n?” He then gave you his signature “nagging” look and said sternly, “You better spill princess.” 

Sighing you asked him, “You won’t let me go unless I tell you huh?”

He gave you a curt nod as he loosened the tie around his neck, “I got all day y/n.” 

And so, you began telling him everything from Paris until now, in this very conference room. You let out a sigh as Jaemin looked at you blankly. “So you’re now all caught up with my life.” 

He looked at your small figure, sighing from the recent events that you laid out on him. It was silent for a good ten minutes before he chuckled, “You know, it’s not my first time seeing Jaehyun like that. He’s the beast and you’re the beauty.”

You gave him a questioning look and Jaemin continued, “From what I know, he’s angry because he cares. Take me for example, he almost sent me to the hospital just because we shared the same blanket in the freezing cold living room.” You gave him an apologetic look as he brought up the time Jaehyun barged into your apartment. He continued telling you, “And during the charity ball, he would’ve lost his composure and beat up a reporter if I haven’t held him back.” 

He laughed as your eyes widened in shock. “Na Jaemin! What do you mean he almost beat up a reporter!”

“See, this is what I’m trying to tell you.”

You asked him furiously due to frustration, “What are you trying to tell me?! Now you’re just making me think my boyfriend has violence issues!” 

With his arm propped up on the table, he sighed and facepalmed, “Why are you always so clueless about these things…” He then muttered, “Now I know why you didn’t even realize my crush on you.” 

You leaned closer and asked, “What did you say? I couldn’t hear the last bit.”

Jaemin immediately sat up straight and dismissed his previous words, “Nothing! Anyways, my point is Jaehyun gets worked up every time you’re in danger or is threatened in any way. It’s probably killing him that he almost hit you, keyword almost. You even said it yourself, he’s your boyfriend. You saying that out loud confirms that you still have feelings for him,” sighing, he looked at you, “the rest is up to you to decide.” 

You were dazed, feeling guiltier as his words settled in. He suddenly placed his hands on top of yours. As if he read your mind, he told you gently, “Don’t feel guilty because it’s not your fault. Go with what your heart tells you. If you feel like he doesn’t love you, leave him. But if you still have that lingering feeling, go meet with him and talk it out.” 

For a moment, the two of you stayed like that. You tried to consider Jaemin’s words and Jaemin stayed beside you, letting you think. You placed your free hand on top of his and said softly, “I think I know how I feel now. Thank you Nana, for always telling me the things I can’t see.”

He gave you a warm smile and leaned forward, placing a soft kiss on your cheek. “I’m always here for you y/n. Just call me and I’ll be there.”

With a grunt, you hoisted the Asgardian into the air, grasping him by the throat and slammed him into the ground. There was silence for a moment as those watching stared in silent awe. Slowly you straightened up, looking around for another contender. The man on the ground struggled for a moment before falling still.

'Stay down.' You growled, sticking your boot on his chest, 'You're beaten.'

Cheers rang out, men and women alike. Flagons of mead ran freely as drunken song started up at your exploits. You gazed around the ring of Asgardians, looking for other possible contenders, but no one else seemed keen on stepping forward. With a stiff nod, you stepped to the side, reaching for your daggers and cloak.

From amongst the crowd, a man seemed to materialize, dressed in a green hooded cloak, pulled low over his face. He seemed to be maintaining a low profile as he held out your cloak to you. You raised an eyebrow as you stared at the man, looking down at him. He didn't seem perturbed by your unusual height or pallid skin, nor inhuman black eyes.

'Thank you.' You murmured as you took the grey-silver cloak from him and clasped it around your shoulders.

The man nodded, 'Might I talk with you?'

You looked at him curiously before nodding and following him through the crowd.

He passed through the people easily, cutting through like a snake through sand. For you, the people parted, giving you a wide birth when they recognized who you were, try as you might to disguise yourself; your height gave you away. Still you ducked low and struggled to twist and turn, dancing your way through the crowd, following this mysterious man, making your way from the main thoroughfare, curious as to what nature of business he might have in mind.

You were more than confident, armed fully once again, if he were some sort of assassin that you could defend yourself. Though you didn't know exactly what he wanted. The earlier sparring matches had mostly been simple wrestling bouts, had they been to the death, you supposed it might have drawn more attention, but this was unusual.

Finally you rounded the corner, into a dimly lit alleyway and found yourself face to face with the man from before. He stood gazing at you, a small smile on his face, a small crown on his forehead with short gold horns that hadn't been immediately visible beneath the cowl of his hood.

'Prince Loki.' You blinked, tilting your head, recognizing the symbol of the crown prince of Asgard.

Loki pointed at his horns, 'My reputation precedes me. I thought I'd wear smaller ones these days, for subtlety.'

'I have never heard of you to be subtle.'

Loki smirked. 'I have heard of you though, fair lady, though less in name.'

You crossed your arms.

'It seems you've finally come to Asgard, to thrash the hel out of our lovely soldiers.'

'I have heard tell of their strength.'

Loki nodded, 'Yes, you put a good thirty of them in the infirmary before they stopped coming at you. It's a pity Thor's eyes are for another and Sif isn't interested.'

You smirked, 'So it would seem.'

'So your challenge goes, any who can defeat you in single hand to hand combat, shall have your hand in marriage as well as your vast wealth and power?' Loki asked.

You nodded, raising an eyebrow. 'Yes, if they can beat me. What is your play, Loki, god of tricks and mischief?' You felt your heart flutter, you had never been this close to the trickster before. There had been stories of trickster god but you had never actually heard stories that he was this... handsome. The stories spent more time discussing Thor these days. Someone really should rectify that. Your eyes flickered to his long black hair, his angled face, his pale complexion... You looked at his green eyes, the way his gold horns rested menacingly on his black brows as he gazed up at you almost innocently. The slightly parted lips as he spoke, you couldn't help but wonder how they felt, slightly pink, parted and soft.

You felt a bit of heat rise to your cheeks as you were pulled back to the moment.

Loki raised his eyebrow.

Glaring at him, you had the vaguest sensation that he might be able to read minds. 'I asked you a question.' You demanded angrily, fighting the urge to stamp your foot.

Loki chuckled softly, 'I heard your question, and I am aware of my many colorful titles. Perhaps I am interested in your riches and power?'

'For yourself?'

'Perhaps I wish to add affluence to Asgard's vault.'

You snorted.

Loki rolled his eyes, 'Perhaps I have my own reasons.'

'Name them. You are not one to seek out a fight for fun.'

This time Loki flushed and looked away. 'It's not important.'

You tilted your head and looked at him curiously, 'What do you mean?'

Loki crossed his arms, looking back at you and glared, 'Does it matter, I said I wanted to challenge you. You said you would accept any challenger.'

'Well there has to be a witness so it is known that I did not throw the competition and you did not cheat.'

'Why would you throw the competition?' Loki turned his head to the side and gazed at you from the corner of his eye.

You sputtered for words, 'It is my oath, I must be honest to it.'

Loki nodded suspiciously, 'If you don't want to fight for your hand in marriage you don't have to.' He muttered.

You grumbled irritably, 'I have made an oath since the day I could fight, and I intend to keep it.' Once more gazing at him suspiciously you asked, 'What is your reasoning? And you can't say it doesn't matter.'

Exasperated, Loki tossed up his hands. 'I didn't just happen upon you by chance.'

You blinked and nodded slowly, realizing that actually made a bit too much sense. 'Have you been following me?'

Loki glared. 'It sounds terrible when you say it like that. I haven't been following you per se.'

You raised your eyebrow.

'I may have been... keeping... watch or monitoring your situation in Asgard.'

You blushed, crossing your arms. Loki sighed, 'The times when you were alone, away from the crowds and the fighting.' He looked away, trailing off.

Your face softened, 'You saw that?'

Loki nodded looking back at you.

'How much of that?'

'I saw you reading, I saw you at the shops trying to blend in, I saw how you struggled to because,' Loki picked at his hand.

You nodded, used to your unusual appearance, you were an unusual creature, your species uncommon. You tugged slightly at your cloak, subconsciously wrapping yourself tighter in it, though Loki didn't seem to notice.

'I saw you gazing at the stars, feeding the animals in the streets, but you always held yourself with poise and grace, no matter how you were treated. They see you as a prize to be won but you're more than that.'

You felt tears welling in your eyes, stepping forward you wrapped your arms around him and hugged him tightly, 'Damn the vow... I must keep it but damn it. For me, you have to win. I will try harder than any other against you, but you must win.'

For a moment, Loki stiffened in shock before slowly hugging you back. Kissing the crown of your head, Loki whispered, 'I will.'

The next day, the crowd gathered as ever. Your cloak hanging with your daggers and belt on the edge of the ring. 'Who will face me?' You called, wondering which Asgardian challenger would step forward. To your surprise, none did. The many men that had tried and tried again stood wearily around the edge of the ring shaking their heads, seemingly having learned their lessons.

The crowd fell hushed as the ring parted and a man in a green cloak stepped forward. Lowering his hood and dropping his cloak to the side, Loki stepped forward. A babble of voices rose up at he realization that the crown prince Loki was taking the challenge.

'Loki?'

'Loki's challenging?'

Confusion and slight outrage, wondering if it was allowed, wondering if this was a trick in some way, how would he cheat? Would he cheat? Would there be honor to this? Could the trickster be trusted?

'Do you challenge me?' You asked.

Loki smirked. 'I do.'

You blushed, 'Very well.' You sank into a fighting stance, wondering how he would rush at you. You didn't know how he could cheat, given that this was a fist fight, but he seemed unarmed. Biting your lip, you prepared to parry his blow.

Loki grinned.

Blinking, there was a shimmer of green, and suddenly there were four of him. The crowd gasped.

'He's using magic!' Someone yelled.

'Is that cheating?'

You laughed in disbelief as the Loki's approached you, not sure which one was real, you had to assume all were real. You couldn't parry two kicks and two punches properly, so you settled into group fighting, preparing to fight off a group, something you were also trained for, but apparently Loki was trained to fight as a group. The onslaught of blows came at once, and as you bashed away at the illusions, the real blow came from behind, hitting you in the back and knocking you to the ground. You gasped as you fell to the ground. The crowd gasping as you struggled to stand back up.

One blow was not enough to knock you out, nor truly wind you, even though Loki hit hard, but it certainly threw you off. He hit harder than anyone else who had managed to land a blow and that... was few and far between.

You blinked, staring at him dazed.

Loki danced back to where he started, smiling at you as again, his illusion returned another small army appearing.

This time the small army approached again, and you spun around, prepared for the blow to come from behind, but as you turned around to block it, the blow came from what had been your front. You snarled, turning around and grabbing at him in time, tossing him to the ground. Loki rolled away back on his feet and springboarding back upright with a soft laugh, light on his feet.

The crowd watch the lightning fast movements, amazed.

Once more Loki was back where he started and you watched, waiting for the army but he didn't bother. It occurred to you that Loki was showing off, for you. He was displaying his fighting prowess in front of the crowd to show that he could beat you to protect you.

Panting heavily, chest heaving, you watched Loki as he walked towards you, light on his feet. He was toying with you. You lunged at him and Loki sprung back, the two of you tussled on the ground, you getting the upper hand as the two of you fought back and forth. Loki excelled at daggers but you truly were excellent at hand to hand combat.

A burst of green magic erupted from Loki and you flew into the air, launched back and landed on your back groaning softly, Loki sat up, walking over and stood over you, foot on your chest as he breathed heavily. 'Do you yield?' He panted.

You moved to grab his foot and throw him off, but you felt magical energy binding your wrists, pinning you in place. Tugging futilely, you pulled with all your strength, thrashing on the ground, the crowd watched in hushed silence as you tugged and thrashed.

Snarling and growling, you continued to tug at the bindings. Glaring up at Loki from ground, you continued to pull as hard as you could, threatening to dislocate your shoulder.

'You're going to hurt yourself.' Loki muttered.

'You cheated.' You grumbled softly under your breath, as you panted heavily, finally collapsing into place.

'You never said I couldn't use magic.' Loki replied, foot still planted firmly on your chest. 'Really, never once have you fought a sorcerer?'

You grunted, still tugging at the bindings. 'Not one as skilled as you, most just throw fireballs, which can be avoided.'

Loki smirked, looking suitably smug. 'So do you yield?” Loki asked again, loudly.

Finally the bitter words you thought you would never say but to the one you were pleased to say them to, left your mouth, 'I yield to you, Loki of Asgard.'

Loki removed the bindings and stepped off of you, reaching down and taking your hand, pulling you to your feet. 'Excellent.'
