The Brothers' Favorite Anime

Lucifer

Well-Known - SPY X FAMILY; he thinks it's cute and appreciates the sentiment of being able to live in a happy family despite the secrets hidden away. For obvious reasons, he relates to Loid the most.

More Obscure - THE CASE STUDY OF VANITAS; he likes the portrayal of vampires and likes to compare it to Bram Stoker's Dracula. His favorite character is Dominique de Sade, whom he refers to as "tragic and feisty."

Mammon

Well-Known - ONE PIECE; he's just one of those people that loves to scream "THE ONE PIECE IS REAAAALLLL" and likes the treasure-hunting aspect combined with the camaraderie.

More Obscure - BLUE EXORCIST; funny, right? He used to mock Satan every time his name popped up until the couch was destroyed. He thinks Rin is cool and argues with Lucifer all the time that he's better than Yukio.

Leviathan

Well-Known - SWORD ART ONLINE; Levi likes the concept more than the characters if he's honest, but he thinks Heathcliff is a total boss.

More Obscure - THE EMINENCE IN SHADOW; like many people who watch Isekai, Levi thinks the tropes start to get a little too copy-and-paste after a while, and he appreciates the parody. He loves Cid and goes into great detail to explain why the anime is genius.

Honorable mention - SAO ABRIDGED because Levi also loves it 10x more than the original even if it's fan-made.

Satan

Well-known - BLACK BUTLER; A revenge plot mixed up with detective stories and a cruel demon butler that loves cats? He vibes with Sebastian and would like him *just a little more* if Levi hadn't pointed out that he looks like Lucifer.

More Obscure - MORIARTY THE PATRIOT; it's Sherlock but anime; what more could he ask for? When asked who his favorite character is, he usually can't decide between the Moriarty's because he likes all of them for different reasons and usually says William by default.

Asmodeus

Well-Known - INUYASHA; Loves it for the romance and thinks Inuyasha and Kagome make a great couple. He even likes the "Inuyasha... Kagome... Inuyasha! ... Kagome!" moments.

More Obscure - KAGUYA-SAMA LOVE IS WAR; Wants to kiss half of the cast because they're beautiful and will sometimes yell at the screen when Shinomiya and Shirogane misunderstand each other (he ships it hard).

Beelzebub

Well-Known - VIOLET EVERGARDEN; he cries every single time, but he loves it because Violet reminds him of Lilith, and he likes how it has a hopeful ending.

More Obscure - FOOD WARS!; It's literally a cooking show, and he couldn't be happier. The fanservice often goes over his head until one of his brothers mumbles something about it, at which point he might feel embarrassed.

Belphegor

Well-Known - JUJUTSU KAISEN; he likes it because it's more on the dark side; his favorite character is Mahito and has remarked at least once that he thinks it would be fun to carry humans in his pocket like that (he said this specifically to scare you).

More Obscure - MAOU-JOU DE OYASUMI; he loves this series because it's all about his favorite past-time. He often writes down what Princess Suyaris says, muttering "wow, I never thought about doing that..."

Difference in Taste! (Random Drabble)

A/n: Honestly this was one of those random scenarios that pop up in your head and unlike the other ones I had to write this one out, I also included a lot of characters so I put it under the cut

It's one of those rare afternoons where you have the pleasure of passing the time not really doing anything but relishing in the peaceful comfort of your home with your beloved partner.

Not wanting to waste the opportunity of your significant other's already sparse time, you were determined to spend some quality time with them as you thought the day was perfect for a outdoor picnic with bright blue skies and the temperatures being well above the average day, yet the day was still accompanied by a slight breeze with the warm summer air.

As you walked with your arm linked with your partner through the field you both wandered into, your eyes scanned the surrounding for a perfect spot to set up your picnic blanket when your irises catch a nearby oak tree that is providing a nice umbrella of shade.

With the blanket set up nicely in the shade of oak tree, your significant other is already starting to unpack all your belongings and placing them down eagerly on the soft fabric of the blanket, clearly overjoyed to relax with their love one while also enjoying the food the both of you had spent the better part of the morning preparing.

while in their warm embrace you decide to fill the silence with mindless conversation, it's mostly what has captured your attention that day (whether it's mindless banter or enticing gossip you have to tell, your significant other is always listening with a smile with on their face while trying to keep the conversation to the best of their ability) while in the middle of answering your previous thought of what would be the most diabolical smash or pass topic, you think of a another thought that would hopefully shake your partner's thoughts and they finally stumble over their words.

He was what Eri had expected, but also not at all.  

The character called Inuyasha sat cross-legged in Kagome’s room, eying them all with suspicion. His shock of white hair was tied back in a soft blue bandana that contrasted strangely with the bright red clothes he wore. He’d answered their questions with curt responses that hardly surpassed a few syllables, staring at them like they were alien specimens all the while. His impatient yellow eyes darted back and forth between the girls, Kagome’s shaken form distributing tea around the room, and the window. 

So this is her boyfriend. Eri took a tentative sip of her tea. “So, Inuyasha...what school do you go to?” 

Before he could respond, Kagome cut in with, “He’s, um – a foreign exchange student! He goes to a school far away. In, um, Hokkaido.” 

“Oh, wow,” Yuka exclaimed. “That’s a four and a half hour train ride. What’re you doing here during the busy school year?” 

“I’m just helpin’ out her granddad.” 

“Aww,” Ayumi gushed. “That’s so sweet!” 

He blushed. “Uh...” 

Four and a half hour train ride? Exchange student? Eri gave Inuyasha a furtive glance. He hadn’t taken a single drink from his cup, and she noticed how long his nails were as they tapped restlessly on the ceramic rim. Sounds like a cover to me.   

In truth, while the other girls had mostly discarded of their previous yakuza notions, Eri still clung to them. There were too many items of contention that continued to make themselves known. She didn’t know a single school that would let him get away with that hair color and length (he’d claimed it was natural, but how could that be?) - nor those bright contacts, for that matter - unless there was an external factor at play.  

He even went by some sort of code name. Perhaps it was an indicator of rank? Regardless, she was certain that he was lying about at least one of his claims. Not that he had done much of the talking at all. 

She wouldn’t have cared so much if it weren’t for his dating Kagome. He seemed too nonchalant, and with all of the accusations Kagome had levied against him during their group WacDonald excursions, Eri was seeing two very different pictures. She just needed to make sure for certain that Kagome was happy and safe with him, and that he wouldn’t board the next four hour train to Sapporo the minute things got inconvenient.  

Before Eri could get on with the subtle questioning, Ayumi spoke up. After a few intervals of stagnant conversation with a frenzied Kagome, she shifted her starry gaze elsewhere. “Hey, Inuyasha?” 

Inuyasha kept that same puzzled expression, like he didn’t understand why she continued referring her attentions to him when there were three other people in the room to talk to. Any other guy might have been bashful, or even taken it up with stride, but Ayumi’s easygoing nature was lost on him.  

“Yeah?” 

“Why are you carrying a sword?” 

Eri paused, her eyebrows furrowing. She couldn’t believe she hadn’t noticed before (well, she’d mostly been staring at his face) but there really was a sword strapped to his side. The scabbard was hidden by Inuyasha’s voluminous red sleeves, but from where she sat, it looked old and well-worn. 

Kagome choked on her tea when Inuyasha peered down at it. “’S my old man’s,” he confirmed. 

Eri's eyebrows arched. A sword passed down from father to son, huh? He was making this too easy for her.

Ayumi's voice broke through her train of thought. “Oh, like a prop or something?” 

“A prop?” he repeated. 

“You know, like in a play. Oh!” Her eyes glowed with recognition. “Is it the same prop you used during our school play? You know, when you brought out that super huge sword on Hojo?” 

“It’s called the Tessaiga,” he told them, and there was a twinkle of pride in his eyes. “Dunno why that Hojo kid was carrying around a wooden sword. As if it would do ‘im any good.” 

Eri could never forget that disastrous scene – Prince Pannacotta, Escargot Pudding, and what the crowd had dubbed the Sekihan Rogue. As much as she valued preparedness, Inuyasha’s unexpected intrusion had actually made the play so popular that they sold more tickets than any previous cultural festival the school had ever held. 

Yuka clasped her hands together. “Can we see it?” 

He grinned, pleased to get the opportunity. Before he could make a move, Kagome, who had been preparing to take another sip of her tea, said in the most irate tone imaginable: “Osuwari.” 

Immediately, Inuyasha crashed into the ground, hands flying into the air with ludicrous vigor. He held the position for an embarrassing moment, Kagome’s casual sips filling the otherwise pin drop silence, before sitting up and rubbing his chin fervently. Eri expected there to be a bruise, what with the speed and force he had dropped, but his skin was unblemished and he looked only mildly annoyed. 

“What’d you do that for?” 

“I know you weren’t about to demonstrate Tessaiga’s theatrical prowess in my room.” She lowered her teacup to the palm of her hand and gave him a chilling smile. “Right?” 

Like magic, the incredulous dip of Inuyasha’s mouth flattened into a shaky line. He almost looked nervous, but quickly pivoted so that only his forelocks were visible to Eri. Still, the blush on his face was evident, bright as his old fashioned clothes and just as misplaced on the tough-guy image she’d formed in her mind. Had he just bowed at a single word from Kagome’s lips?  

Furthermore, Eri couldn’t understand how Inuyasha could keep up with Kagome. That girl had the potential to be terrifying, but he matched her blow for blow when they argued - and sometimes won out with logic. The rest of the afternoon consisted of their bickering – something about twisted handlebars and broken pottery – but even when they fought, it was incredibly evident that the two were a couple. They cut into each other’s personal space like cars having a feud on the road. When another member of the group tried to steer them into vaguely peaceful territory, Kagome’s shoulders would brush against her boyfriend’s, and his head would tilt down against hers, holding her in place until an irrelevant detour in the conversation ignited their dormant arguments for the nth time. 

As the day drew to a close, Eri decided that she no longer quite saw him as the wayward caricature she’d envisioned – still a punk, though. He was dramatic (he probably just worked in theater) and blunt and the claws were still a questionable fashion choice, but she concluded he wasn't dangerous, at least to Kagome. She admitted that his occasional tenderness - from wrapping a solid arm around her shoulders to defending her from Yuka's obvious joking insults - had gotten to her. After everything that had transpired, she was convinced that Inuyasha’s involvement in the yakuza, or any gang for that matter, was next to none. That notion far too outlandish.  

She now had a new theory. Constant absences, unexplained sicknesses that never seemed to go away despite maintaining a sprightly disposition, and the ability to make someone like Inuyasha bow with a single word... 

(It was Kagome. Kagome was definitely part of the yakuza.)

The yashamine manga is still going on 😭😭😭. I honestly thought it was finished. This is when you know yashamine killed the inuyasha fandom because it’s been so dead. Like even the tweets for yashamine barley get 2k likes. Even went on rumiko Twitter and the likes for anything yashamine related are so low. Actually most of her tweets have low likes. And I think the kagura post is her only recent post that had huge engagements. The only ones who are still invested are sinners and maybe some inukags who just want to see inuyasha and kagome.

Sadly, it has not finished but it's mostly due because it's a monthly manga. Those take a loooong to finish depending on plot but from I saw with the peak I decided to take, it looks like we reached the part where Zero disguises herself as a ordinary woman to torture Towa. Though, in this case she takes the form of Towa from RT's Mermaid Saga. Which is kinda strange since Rumiko never did big Easter eggs like that in her own mangas last I checked (the studios that adapted her works did though in the animes). More evidence that is a "fanservice work", I say. It's Shiina's version and interpretation of how Yashahime went down after all. He said so himself. Sumisawa is cooperating with him in the script and Rumiko is just credited as main character designer. I'll be honest though, I haven't seen this manga in any ranking and not even in the lower ones. So I don't expect it to last years.

And when it's finally done. It will probably go into obscurity.

What really bothers though is how much damage this "fanfic" has caused to the brand and it's fandom. It's like when Trump started racing for president and suddenly you got all these bigots coming out of the sewers, the rest is history.

The situation is similar. Most people have just gone and it's all thanks to how awful said fic was. For people like me, Inuyasha was or is literally their go to comfort show. To have that stained and twisted—it was like a mental break. And for most people that damage was irreversible and unforgivable (no going back) and between that and the horrible harassment of pro-hny fans even for things as people just not being into the story...

It was a done deal.

They left.

Because things don't feel the same no more. Some got over it but others even closed their accounts, not even saying goodbye to friends. Complete MIA. All that's left is some good people and ya know the rest.

The RT Kagura twitter post getting so many likes is evidence of what people really prefer. The actual general fandom. I think People wanted Takahashi to know that in some way and they took it. And not just that, the recent Inuyasha or official Japanese anime polls say it all too. The little girl doesn't even reach top...

Like just recently in the Japanese anime characters of all time the only Inuyasha characters that made it were just Sesshomaru and Kikyo. I was surprised that Inukag didn't get a spot this time 🤷🏻‍♀️

On the brightside Shiina has stated once again that "this is his interpretation" to summarize while talking about this chapter on his personal blog.

Just remember "it's a fanfic of a fanfic", don't give it ratio, let it fade into obscurity and support Inuyasha content characters who actually care about the og work. This fandom needs it and you'll be so much better. Trust me.

Yes! I think I was shipping villains x heroes/heroines from a very young age (before I really understood what shipping was), but Jareth x Sarah was such an eye-opening experience for me. Pretty sure most of my ships have similarities of sorts to Jareth x Sarah.
