Yes, I 100% use learning new languages as an excuse to rewatch my childhood favourite TV shows and movies. Because this way nobody is allowed to judge. It’s educational.

My favorite study resources
YouTube, you literally can find anything related about what you want to learn there and the best, it is free.
Text books, I know boring, but it work for me
Coloring books, I need to do something else while I am watching classes on YouTube so Coloring kids books it is cool.
Stay focus apps, I have problems I know so I put hours restrictions on my game apps.
Pdf reader, I need to read books to learn.
Tumblr, I do my language blog here for free and without all the things that you have to do for those web pages for blogging.
Discord, but English or study focus serves. I spend hours talking there some days, my English speaking skills went from Zero to sixty here.
A dictionary app, I can't live without one.
Gameboy emulator, Yes I learn English playing Pokemon do you have a problem? My man Steven was my boyfriend, my role model, the fucking son of... That left me in the middle of the ocean in the apocalypse with two psyducks and with the orientation abilities of Zoro and my English teacher

accommodations i’ve had approved as an autistic college student
helloooo today i finally had a meeting with the disability office and have accommodations after 2 years of being in college without them. im autistic and have cptsd/dissociative issues and had a hard time finding what was even available to me to request for accommodations so i wanted to make a list to help anyone else who might be having trouble.
• Priority registration
i get to register for classes earlier each term to make sure i can create schedules that’ll work for my routine
• Extended time on assignments
self explanatory i think? was also offered extended time on tests or a separate room to take them but testing isnt where i struggle
• Flexible attendance
as long as i email beforehand i dont have to stick as strictly to professors attendance policies
• Alternative formats
if i buy a physical textbook i can request the ebook/pdf/audiobook for free to have multiple methods of studying depending on what works for me on a given day
• Note taking
allowed to audio record class and send to a service called messenger pigeon who will give me a transcript of the class and professional notes based on it
• Access to lecture notes
able to access professors lecture notes prior to class/instruction
• Devices
allowed to have phone/ipad/laptop for social buffering and notes in classes that may have policies against electronics
• Flexible participation
no cold calling, option to work alone for group projects/assignments, not required to present in front of class
if anyone has any questions lmk these are just what i have been able to get at my school so far! hope it helps
edit: this is blowing up so fellow autistics, students, language nerds, etc pls be my mutual i want friends lol my dms are also open any time !!

Day 4 of 100 Days of Productivity
I hate revising/revisiting a topic. I don't know about anyone else, but I constantly want to be learning something new. Going back to a topic feels so tedious. I'll try to get better at this skill.

Some days you have to study in bed as a compromise, because otherwise you wouldn’t study at all.

Langblr.
If ever you're in France, accompanied by your kitty cat, and you find yourself unintentionally (and quite unexpectedly) projecting intestinal gas produced within the body by bacteria that has broken down food, and said kitty cat looks a little alarmed, and you don't know what to say, well. Fortune smiles upon you this day. Consider #langblr your knight in shining linguistic armor. Chat, j'ai pété.
It really can happen to anyone. But langblr is here for all your polyglot needs: learning how to say chai tea in Czech, the frankly adorable etymology of peninsula, Greek paleographic fonts, for words of support for those underway with their language-learning adventures, or if you're in need of some support yourself. It is a particularly wholesome corner of Tumblr, for those with an interest in the slow-burn magic of learning another language.

I feel moderately dumb doing kids worksheets (especially with how many tries this took me for how simple it is…) but I know logically I have to start somewhere.
I don’t enjoy the feeling dumber than a toddler part though.

Oh, I think I must terminate this blog soon.
Hear me out, the following reasons are my current reasons, all relating to Duolingo, not this blog:
The recent laying off of translators in favour of AI.
Poor quality lessons.
Reliance in meme status to keep face and relevancy.
Termination of critical courses to focus on the Big Five.
Inaccuracy in many lessons.
My hyperfixation is dying.
Numerous other reasons to leave to a higher quality learning app, not one that’s just a translator.
Please let me know your opinions on the situation.

My Morning Routine 🎀
I have adopted a new morning routine because I didn't have one for honestly the last....4 months? Eeeeessshh, absolutely not good for me. I've had to tweak the routine this week, but I think I've got it down! I wake up between 5am and 6am, typically closer to 6am, but it depends on the days because Fridays, Saturdays, and some Sundays I have to leave my house by 7/7:30am. I typically have 2 hours for this routine which is perfect for me!
Current Morning Routine 💗
Wake up between 5am and 6am
Drink water, use the bathroom
Make my bed
Do a quick Yoga with Adriene morning yoga workout, then put yoga mat away
Write in my guided journal
Complete a morning journal prompt of choice in my other journal
Make an Iced Coffee (medium roast Coffee k cup , one sweet n low packet, splash of French vanilla creamer)
Read 1 Chapter OR 15/20 minutes (typically self help book but honestly any book is fine for me!)
Plan out some things for the day (planner, Google Calendar, brain dump list, review todo lists for day)
Shower/Wash face (depends on if I showered night before)
Do my morning skincare! (vitamin c serum, moisturizer, sunscreen, lip balm)
Get dressed for the day (either work clothes or normal outfit depending on what i have to do)
Pack my bag(s) for the day (again, depends on the class, and if I have work then I may take a 2nd bag)
Head out (if necessary, which it typically is, except for most Sundays!)
And that's my morning routine! I love it so much, it's been so nice waking up at a set time every day and has been forcing me to be more mindful of when I go to sleep and how much caffiene I am consuming. It's so nice to have a morning routine, and I am currently working on implementing a night routinebecause I thrive with routines!
til next time lovelies 🩷

I would LOVE to hear from anyone who went through university studies in a language that isn't their native one! Share your experiences! How did you manage ? What was the most difficult part ? What language learning level were you at before you started the course ? I am so curious about all of the details !!
