There's the day.

The day many girls only dare to come out once a day in case of higher necessity and only with a male relative and still try not to be noticed at all... Why does it sound like a day of solidarity with Afghan women?

The day every girl or woman risks to meet a group of aggresive stranger males ruining her clothes, taking away her dignity, often leaving her freezing of cold and all in all forcing her to change her daily plans - and if she has anything to say against it she'll be hushed and told it was just fun, innocent play, it was TRADITION... Why does it sound so much like a rape then?

Sure that can be fun for some: if it's among siblings, cousins, friends or everybody else wanting to join the play. But WANTING is the key.

No custom or tradition can ever replace your consent.

There's no "fun" without consent.

There's no "fun" if your freedom is violated.

There's nothing fun in being forced to be part of something if you don't want to, if you don't feel like it and it doesn't matter what that thing is, how socially accepted that is and how "innocent" it is considered.

In honour of my polish Barty agenda:

When he goes to Hogwarts he makes a point of celebrating celebrates Śmingus dyngus/Lany poniedziałek every year. First year he was sneaky enough that for half of the day everyone blamed it on marauders but then the tradition got called out by one of the other 3 polish ppl in the castle and started laughing hysterically for a solid minute.

(I’m pretty sure Hogwarts has Easter holidays so this just applies to the ppl who stay in the castle)

Also, nobody ever tells the first years. It’s Barty’s version of an initiation ceremony only it’s half a year late. Oops

Very late happy April Fools!

I really wanted to post it on monday because on that day the Slavs also had Śmigus Dyngus/Lany Poniedziałek where we spray/pour the water on each other as a prank :D (I have no idea how to translate it into english, I guess it’s sth like „Pouring Monday”?). Unfortunately I didn’t finish it in time, but it’s still relevant for the beggining of Spring, so it’s fine~ In the lore of my characters, getting splashed by a droplet of water means good luck in the upcoming season, so that’s why everyone is like „oh such good luck” kghdkfh
