Both in the Infant Strife and the Battle of Rakuyo arc, Gintoki wins a fight against an opponent lacking normal eyesight who compensates in other ways and is still dangerous (Batou much moreso than Nizo, but Nizo does have good feats).

In both cases, not only does the narrative first fool the audience by following along with the opponent's mistaken view of reality, but when the truth is revealed it's still perhaps not entirely clear to everyone what really happened, or at least how the opponent was deluded.

And then there is what happens in chapter 703...

Was this aspect of the other two fights foreshadowing that final battle?

You woke up to the feeling of the sun’s rays hitting your face. Stirring in your sleep, you covered your face with your hands before sitting up. The cold air sends a shiver done your spine which causes you to cross your arms across your chest. The sudden sensation of your skin meeting your own skin, you looked down to see that your chest was exposed to the air.  

Sudden realization strikes you once you look around the room to see that you aren’t in your apartment. You looked down towards the bed and leaned towards the end to see your clothes scattered around along with someone else’s clothes.  

Knowing that you had a one-night stand, you grew confused as to why the man you slept with wasn’t in the room with you, until you heard the shower running down the hall. Slowly, you got off the bed and started to dress yourself. As you put on the last article of clothing, a sudden memory popped up.  

“Angel, are you sure you want to spend the night at my place?” A drunk Johnny says with his words slightly slurred.  

“Mmm, you know it baby.” You giggled as you ran your hand through his blonde hair.  

“Then to my place it is.” He smirked as he held you tightly in his hold before his white, lush, wings fluttered open and shot up to the sky in high speed towards his apartment.  

Shaking your head, you stood up straight and started to make your way towards the apartment door. As you touched the doorknob, another memory popped up that made you blush.  

“I’m going to make you my own songbird.” He said as he towered over you and left kisses down the navel of your chest.  

Upon seeing the memory, it caused you to quicken your pace unlocking the front door. Once you unlocked and opened the door, the feeling of the wind gushing towards you and your body being slammed against the now closed door, gave you some sort of whiplash.  

“Where do you think you’re going angel?” He says as he looked down at you with a cocked eyebrow.  

Not being able to make eye contact with him, your eyes trained towards his chest. To which you could tell that he had just gotten out of the shower by the small water droplets on his toned skin.  

“Leaving? W-who said anything about leaving?” You chuckled nervously.  

“My eyes are up here sweetheart.” He said as he took hold of your chin and made you look up at him.  

The fierce blush that took over your face once you made eye contact with the man had you feeling breathless. All the memories from last night all came piling up which caused you to moan.  

“Remember now?” He teased.  

“Johnny stop- “  

“That wasn’t what you were calling me last night.” He smirked as he leaned in towards your neck.  

“J-Johnny!” You gasped out as you looked at him with wide eyes.  

He laughed at your reaction causing some of his feathers to ruffle up slightly.  

Mesmerized at the sight of his beautiful white-ivory feathers ruffling up, you unconsciously reach towards them and place a gentle touch on the wings.  

This caused a shiver to run down Johnny’s spine causing him to quickly take hold of your hand and pin it towards your side.  

“Do you not remember the punishment I gave you last night when you tried to touch them?” Johnny said in a serious tone.  

“I- “you stopped yourself from talking as you looked down towards the floor as a blush covered your cheeks.  

“You look at me when I’m talking to you.” Johnny said in a deep voice as he took hold of your jaw and made you look back up at him. “Would I have to teach you a lesson again?” he said as he narrowed his eyes towards you.  

The way he used the tone with you caused butterflies to erupt in your stomach. Though you couldn’t see it for yourself, your eyes glazed over as you looked at him with big doe-eyes, which caused him to smirk knowing that he had you under his grasp.  

“To the bedroom — now.”

Sun Wukong's Buddhist Paradise

Some of my followers may be familiar with my past article in which I described Xuanzang's historical itinerary and discussed what a more realistic Journey to the West might be like. Towards the end, after the pilgrims return to China with the scriptures and the disciples (Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, and Sha Wujing) receive their elevation in spiritual rank, I stated: “They would thereafter leave to enjoy their divine lives in the Western Paradise.” But I’ve never really liked the idea that Monkey would forever abandon his people. This is especially true since his rebellion led to heaven decimating the monkeys and burning their cave (Wu & Yu, 2012, vol. 2, p. 31).

I think a better ending for this historical version would be for the “Victorious Fighting Buddha” to return to the Mountain of Flower and Fruit, where he transforms it into his own Pure Land (Jingtu, 淨土). The monkeys killed in years passed would be reborn there, and everyone would receive periodic lessons on the dharma between bouts of play. It would be a paradise even grander than when the Great Sage was at the height of his power.

I love this circa 1700 Tibetan painting of Amitabha in his pure land of Sukhavati. Just imagine the Victorious Fighting Buddha sitting in Amitabha's place, and monkeys would take the place of the monks, protectors, and devas.

You didn’t need to be saved. You were completely capable of defending yourself—you did it all the time—and you knew that.

But the relief you felt at Gareth’s appearance was palpable.

You were having a shitty day. One of those where everything hurt your feelings, every little thing went wrong.

You’d slept through your alarms and woken up twenty minutes before you needed to leave. Gotten toothpaste on your shirt and had to change it.

Then you’d gotten stuck in traffic because of a wreck and made it into class right as the bell rang, out of breath and a little sweaty despite the freezing temperatures.

You’d been handed back your essay in class and not done nearly as well as you hoped, despite having worked your ass off on it.

Your lunch had been rushed and tasted like shit because you had an anxious stomach ache.

But it all met a peak when you were getting books out of your locker in between classes.

“You look like hell. Do you ever sleep?” Jason Carver’s voice rang out like a shotgun from where he stood next to you. You had the unlucky advantage of his locker being a few down from yours.

You were too frazzled to even answer him. “What, you mute or somethin’ now too?” That was Andy.

You shifted your math textbook. “How’s your mom Andy? She looked like shit when I left her last night.”

Jason moved in, slamming your locker door shut. Good thing you were finished with it.

“You really shouldn’t say things like that. It’s not polite.”

“Fuck off, Jason. Just because you can’t get Chrissy off doesn’t mean you have to take that frustration out on me.”

He blushed a dark shade of red, borderline purple, his brows pushing together angrily. “You’re such a bitch. You know what—”

“What, Carver? What are you gonna do, huh?” Gareth took your books out of your hands, moving behind you to put them in your backpack for you.

Jason crossed his arms, letterman jacket crinkling as he did so. “Just making conversation. What do you want freak?”

Gareth laughed. “Original. So, what’re we chatting about this afternoon?” He crossed his arms, mimicking Jason’s pose and pouting at his fussy expression.

You looked up at him for the first time since he’d appeared. He looked like he always did. Gorgeous. Brown hair fluffy and moving with each turn of his head, shoulders enveloped in a black corduroy jacket. He looked warm.

The ache in your chest that had surfaced when Jason and his goons started bugging you vanished. Gareth was good at that.

“How your friend here is a bitch and could learn a lesson in respecting their higher-ups.”

A shadow crossed Gareth’s face. Asshole, he thought, wrapping his arm around your shoulders.

“Hey, Carver?”

“Yeah?” The blonde looked confused.

“Suck my dick.”

You coughed out a laugh, making Gareth smile and rub his hand over the top of your back before pulling you away.

Clearly, even the idea of that was bothering Jason. He spun around at your retreat. “What the hell is wrong with you? Creep!”

Gareth turned around, grabbing hold of your hand. “Aw, you know you want to. I bet it’d help release some of that tension. Bet Andy’d help you out if you’re not so fond of me!”

Jason flushed that cruel pink again, and Gareth tugged you off in the direction of your next class, which you shared.

He stopped you in the hallway, checking his watch to make sure you had a few minutes. “You okay?” He asked, blue eyes boring into yours.

“Yeah. Thank you, Gareth the Great. My hero.” He shook his head at you in disapproval, but it was hard to take him seriously with that cheesy ass grin on his face.

“You’re such a shit.” He leaned in and kissed the top of your head, lips warm and curls brushing your skin, just as the bell rang.

He made sure to wave at Jason in the parking lot after school, which only caused a more violent blush than before and a slam of a car door. Gareth, however, laughed in triumph and practically jumped he was so giddy.

Class was always boring but Gunwook always seemed to make it a little bit better. You weren’t near him as you had assigned seats but admiring him from afar was good enough for you. If he ever caught you, you always had an excuse since he was right next to your best friend Daniel. She told you constantly to get over him due to him not doing anything about your massive crush on him. He never rejected you and he never told you he liked you back. But you couldn’t, not after you have liked him for 4 years. It wouldn’t be as easy as Daniel thought it would be to get over him. As class comes to an end you were told you could get out of your seats to talk to each other. You walked over to daniel and you immediately started talking. “Did you actually pay attention to the lesson today? If not I can fill you in again!” Daniel said with the same bright smile the always has. “Hey, don’t assume that I don’t pay attention ever lesson” you say with a pout. “But I didn’t so could you please give me your notes!” You smile as daniel playfully hits your arm. You can feel someone’s eyes on you. As you look around the class frantically you can’t seem to find them. “What’s wrong?” Daniel asked with clear concern as you continue to look. “Someone’s look at me I can tell, I don’t like the feeling of it.” After many years of anxiety you can tell when someone is looking at you and it’s the worst feeling ever. “Are you talking about Gunwook? He’s been looking at you” she discreetly points to Gunwook whose with his friends but he doesn’t seem to listen to his friends, instead he’s looking at you. As your eyes meet he holds eye contact for a second before you quickly look away and your looking at Daniel again. “Why does he keep looking at me?” You ask Daniel genuinely wanting to know. “I don’t know but he always looks at you in class too. Whenever you look away from him he looks at you. It’s kind of distracting when you have to see his head turn every few minutes. You think with his class president reputation he would pay more attention to class but nope!” Daniel says. “I’m getting tired of his mixed signals why is he so confusing!” You say with mix of rage and sadness dripping from your voice. “Why don’t you just ask him how he feels?” Daniel says curiously. “You know I can’t do that it could ruin our friendship.Quick be quiet pretend we were talking about something else!” You said in a hushed hurry voice as Gunwook heads your way. “Hey y/n do you have the notes from the lesson today? I wasn’t paying full attention!” Gunwook said with the most gorgeous smile ever making you fall more in love with him if that was even possible. “Sure I’ll give them too you later okay!” You said trying to keep your composure after all this isn’t the first time you have talked but every time you do talk your heart beats faster. “Thank you so much your a life saver! If you want you can just send it to me. I’ll write my number down!” He says as he writes it on a piece of paper and hands it to you. “Of course! Bye Gunwook talk to you later!” You say goodbye as he goes back to his friends, gyuvin and Yujin. You turn back to Daniel as she holds in a laugh “So now your going to let Gunwook copy my notes thinking they are yours?” She says finally letting out her laugh. “I’m sorry, I had a chance to talk to him what else was I supposed to do, plus I got his number!” You say back to her. You once again turn to look at Gunwook as he’s laughing with his friends. As if he can sense you looking at him he turn back to you and smiles even harder. Leaving you with one question Why does Gunwook have to be so mysterious about his feelings.

The Gunman of a Music Artist at a Virginia Recording Studio Learns his Fate

Judge James A. Willett sentenced Cinquan Louis Blakney to 40 years of imprisonment in prison with 20 years of probation and 5 years of probation after release on Thursday, April 13, according to Amy Ashworth, a Prince William County Commonwealth Attorney. Blakney entered an Alford plea of no contest to the second-degree murder charge for the 2019 Woodbridge shooting death of Tristan Sellers. As we can recall, on Nov. 18, 2019, Sellers was at the DMV Recording Studio in Woodbridge with Blakney when they began arguing because of the production of the music track, Ashworth said. During the argument, Blakney shot Sellers. Sellers was unarmed; sadly, paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Based on the autopsy result, the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.  It's good that justice is served. Read more.

Just read lesson 703 and I have a lot of feeling right now. Like wow, I thought Sorachi had thrown everything he could at my way but once again I am in complete awe. I'll say it again, Sorachi Hideaki is a master story-teller.

I expected that Takasugi would die by the end of Gintama but his death is so much more than the loss of an amazing character. He died protecting what he wanted to, he died saving Gintoki from the despair of cutting down his master again, and he died with his heart finally at peace. He spent ten years of his life chasing after revenge, against the world and himself and in the end he ended up achieving way more than that, he got to protect his teacher. And he got to share Gintoki's burden. Takasugi Shinsuke died hero, a disciple of shoka sonjuku and a friend. I'm sad as heck right now but my respect for Sorachi has increased ten-fold for giving his character the best ending possible (as always).

Also, Gintoki. Like my heart aches for him right now. He has gone through so much already and I think seeing Takasugi die must've been hell for him but he stayed to strong in front of him, he didn't break, and he didn't cry until the end. Sakata Gintoki truly has a strong and beautiful soul. I wish I could just hug him right now. I just have so much love and respect for him in my heart right now.
