because of this most dark mages tend to work in very brightly-lit areas (either artificial light or outside in the daytime) to fuel their spells and wear and use lightly coloured clothes and tools so that they’re easier to see in the dimness their spells create, whereas light mages wear heavy, sometimes leaden robes (depending on the work being done) and the magical equivalent of welding masks to protect themselves from what can be an extreme amount of light, and sometimes other kinds of electromagnet radiation!

Now I really want to read a story where Bruce adopts Danny post Meta trafficking and is being his usual emotionally constipated self. His kids keep getting mad at him because he's treating their new meta brother who was trafficked poorly (generally being stilted in conversation with him, walking away hurriedly mid-conversation, avoiding Danny when he's feeling really awkward, etc). They think Bruce is discriminating against Danny for being a civilian, meta, dealer's pick, but really it's just Bruce being horribly socially awkward. Danny knows this because of ghost empathy and find the whole thing hilarious. The whole thing comes to a head with the Bat Kids staging an intervention in the Bat Cave.

I animated two different versions. I wasn't able to import the first one (left) correctly because I animated it on Rough Animator, so I just decided to animate it again on Procreate (right). It turned out much easier to do the second time.

This has nothing to do with anything but I'm in the middle of a houseplant fixation and I'm having a lot of fun. I've always had indoor plants, sometimes more, sometimes less, but it's starting to feel like I might've finally figured out some of the more advanced stuff, like personalized substrate mixes, different pot types, fertilization, growth lights and humidity.

My plants are doing really well now! I've repotted a few, trimmed the ones that took damage during the winter (or got hit by a thrips infestation late last year) and propped the cuttings, and they're putting out roots! I've never tried propagating anything before, it's exciting times. I'm going to plant them soon, maybe later this week.

Every morning and every night I do a little routine plant tour, simultaneously marveling at them and endlessly worrying about whether they're happy and thriving or not. They're making so many big, shiny new leaves right now and it's driving me to the brink of tears.

Very stressful but also tremendously rewarding. Just felt like sharing, since I've been mostly inactive or focused on complaining about health woes lately.

For the series to be called Scum Villain's Self Saving System, I feel like we don't talk much about the saving part. In several books worth of horrible shit happening to Shen Jiu and Shen Yuan, no one else ever actually saves either of them.

Shen Jiu is never saved. Not from the Qius, not from Wu Yanzi, not from anything.

And why would anyone ever save him? He's scum, and he knows it.

Shen Yuan as Shen Qingqiu is never saved. Not from The Skinner, not from Without a Cure, not from The System and what it forces him to do, and not from his fate to die by/for Binghe. The few times anyone tries to save him, it's ineffective; Zhuzhi Lang's attempts to help him only condemn him further, Gongyi Xiao's attempt to help him backfires, Liu Qingge spends five wasted years trying to recover him body. Even when Binghe "rescues" Shen Qingqui from his father, it's at the expense of losing Xin Mo and thus triggering an apocalypse, and the entire cultivation world hates him for it, and it makes everything so much worse. Throughout the entire story, no one ever really saves him, and when they try it's never actually effective, or just backfires spectacularly.

Shen Yuan died alone and was put into a new role that was doomed from the start. And how could anyone ever save him? He's the Scum Villain, and he knows it.

Scum Villain's Self Saving System doesn't just refer to the Deus ex Machina at the end. It's the entire story. The only hope Shen Qingqiu ever has is in saving himself.
