one night, he tried to drink around you, and was admittedly very surprised when you didn't want to

the two of you were practically attached to the hip, you two did everything together! so...why was this any different?

once you explained everything to him, he immediately understood and put the alcohol away and makes a fun soda/cider kind of drink instead!

over time, he starts drinking a lot less. on the odd occasion that he does get drunk, he just lets you know and stays kind of far away (he'll miss you greatly, but your comfort is safety is far more important to him)

will come to you the next day, hung over and clingy, but most of all; so happy to see you

he only really drinks as a sign of politeness, but nothing too crazy

he hates the taste and gets 0 enjoyment off being drunk. him coming home wasted isn't something you have to worry about

however, if you're at a place like a party or a festival, where there's a large collection of drunk people, he'll immediately whisk you away and take you somewhere else; wherever you want to go

if you two go back home, he'll immediately start to pamper you. he wants you to remember that you don't owe him anything. that you aren't a child stuck as a parent

he knows you weren't exactly abused or anything, but he's still careful with his touches regardless, only wanting you to be comfortable

expect gentle massages and light kisses. he'll praise you on how well you're doing, no matter if you're freaking out, or if you're just calm

gorou

similar to scara, gorou only drinks for polite reasons, or if there's something to celebrate. he never goes too far

however, if he does get drunk, he might get a tad bit clingier. not to the point where he's totally helpless; just more affectionate

if you need him to step away because you're getting upset, he'll do so with no complaints. he knows your boundaries need to be respected

will 100% show up with a bouquet and a box of candies the next day as an apology, even if he didn't exactly do anything wrong

gorou would probably stay the night with a buddy to make sure you don't end up triggered or scared. the last thing he wants is for you to be unsettled because of him or something he did

listens if you need to just vent and talk abt it. he understands that what you went through was traumatic, and that seeing someone you love in that very same state must hurt you to a degree. he'll just hold you and comfort you, providing all you need <3

except some of them arent particularly good at it + as per usual jeff ben and toby are written as platonic everyone else can be seen as either or writing a silly little thing before i tackle in on requests, falling into the same vibe as the "hugging/kissing creepypasta characters" post from last week since i do enjoy rating these lads on thing ehehehe obligatory "these style of posts go over my personal character limit but since this is writing for the admin he bends the rules a bit" anyways uhuh totally dont give me ideas for these eheheh winks

SLENDERMAN:

not much of a talker in general, and i think that remains true in scenario where you're upset/crying. but he does make it clear that hes here for you... just... in a general sense. you know? refuses to leave you alone unless you directly ask him that you need space; more so watches out of concern rather than his usual curiosity. i think he would make you a warm drink and let you vent to him. more of a logical approach than an emotional one; better at giving solutions rather than giving comfort.. though i like to think that his tentacles will pull you close if you want to lean into him, will let you cry into his shoulder with no judgement. 6/10 low score simply because sometimes one needs comfort in the moment instead of solutions, you know?

SPLENDORMAN:

i think hes the opposite of slenderman. hes all emotions first, logic later. if he already knows you comfortable with it, i think he would come in and scoop you up in a hug.. hell he might even cry with you, or do the equivalent of it (admin is still on the fence of whether or not he has eyes or not! torn between them being actual eyes or markings) will make you your favorite snacks and drinks, all the while letting you cry and vent to him. gets mad on your behalf if someone had done you wrong, does not make your feelings feel small or invalidated. if he could he would confront the person who treated you unfairly.... and in fact he might, who would ever believe the person that they came face to face with a ten foot tall monster? though... this can lead to him being a little quick to make choices that might have big impacts... 7/10 love this man need to write more for him and develop my hcs

EYELESS JACK:

you know now that i think about it, given how much i write for EJ, i swear ive done a similar prompt at some point. regardless of it i did and if my hcs are the same, im going to go ahead and drop my hcs. i think hes very similar to slenderman in terms that hes more of a solutions > emotion person.. though i do think hes more likely to join you in any shit talking if someone did you dirty... do i think he would target that person next when hes going to go 'hunting'? no... unless the person did something truly awful and unforgivable, then he would definitely consider it.. probably wont go through with a harvest, though.. but thats it whole other thing. more of a talker than slenderman, so at least he has that going for him. lets you sleep in his bed if youre venting to him in his cabin 7/10 one point higher than slenderman simply because he talks more n stuff

LAUGHING JACK:

im gonna be so real i think he can go either way if hes going to be good at comforting you. on one hand hes too silly and might not take it too seriously; or he might try to make you laugh.. which COULD work but other times makes it look like he doesnt care about your feelings. on the other hand i think he can give some solid adivce, but thats only based on the fact that i love it when unhinged hyper characters suddenly drop the most valuable info. shrugs. i mean if you need a distraction, i think lj is your man to go to ! he was literally made to entertain so i dont think its going to be too hard for him to take your mind elsewhere. i think he would offer to cook you something but i also think hed probably be banned from the kitchen because he cant cook for shit. has probably set water on fire somehow level shit. so instead you guys just sit together talking... mostly its him leading the conversation, though. doesnt leave you be until you at least give him a smile... 6.5/10 only because i dont know how to rate him here

MASKY/TIM:

oh not at all emotional. well no thats a lie but hes not very emotive. thats the more correct word. look if we're talking about masky, hes probably going to be really bad at comforting you unless your means to be comforted involves being watched... though i do think he would fall into the act of service hole.. does all the chores and such for you so you dont have to worry yourself about cleaning a pan thats been in the sink for two days now. tries his hand at cooking, but i dont think masky is the best cook.. TIM on the other hand.. but we'll get into that in a minute. probably ends in you guys ordering something but hey its the thought that counts. if someone made you upset you notice over the course of the next few weeks that person starts outright avoiding you and overall seems anxious. weird. probably unrelated! 7/10 only because im badly overworked irl and the idea of someone taking charge sounds like a dream

tim i think would be similar, but hes more expressive for you... will cook for you but if your favorite food happens to be really specific or something else, hes probably going to run out and get it. torn on whether or not he would tell you before he goes, or if he sticks to keeping it a surprise.. i think he would tell you just so it doesnt feel like hes abandoning you when youre down..! not much to be said here other than him being supportive 8/10 i would KILL for some white cheddar popcorn rn

HOODIE/BRIAN:

i think he would put you to bed. actually i think both of them would but to keep things clear im still going to divide this like masky/tims. i think hoodie is going to keep you in bed, even if youre not particularly tired. dont bother trying to fight him on it, hes only allowing you to get up for the bathroom. let him take care of things! very similar to masky, picks up on a lot of the chores. i think he can cook, though, definitely better than masky but i dont think hes like. top tier. likes making you little snacks, or food thats generally deemed as comforting (mac and cheese, cornbread, ect). doesnt talk (sign) much but will occasionally sign to you asking how you're feeling 7.5/10 love this man, so mad kid me used to sleep on hoodie

very similar, but an even better cook than hoodie so be prepared to eat good. communicates with you more than hoodie and makes small talk while cooking. i think he would keep the chat lighthearted and on a different topic rather than tackling your feelings, unless you express that you want to vent then hes all ears! not because he doesnt care more so because he doesnt want to seem prying or nosey and wants to give you the choice yourself. sometimes makes jokes about stuff in order to try to get you to smile. feels victorious when he succeeds 8/10 mad i slept on him too

TICCI TOBY:

i think he might actually be TOO strong and in your face when asking you what happened. only one who outwardly offers to krill someone if someone were to make you upset. but thats just because i think toby can occasionally get protective of you. i mean youre one of his best friends (only friends) and here you are upset! if you dont want him to do anything hes going to try to contain himself. he strikes me at the type to retreat to the roof and look up at the stars... i think he would offer to do that with you; but if youre too scared to climb then he can lay out a blanket for you so you guys can go sit on the grass! surprisingly a very good listener, though very emotionally driven and reacts a lot when you tell him the details of your day.. but its nice, i think, reassures you that hes is in fact listening.. 7/10 gives off brother vibes

JEFF THE KILLER:

ohhoho so this is an interesting one, because i like the idea of jeff still acting like an older brother every now and then even after everything. but he also has that attitude of "i dont care about anyone around me and im better than everyone".. more of an actions than words guy. he wont really say it.. you know? one of those "if he actually didnt care then he would bother giving you the time of day, much less break into your house at night with his arms full of your favorite snacks and drinks". good luck trying to vent to him though, i think its rare that he lets anyone vent to him since he also holds the "ew yucky feelings" thing ben has.. though once in a blue moon i think he would let you and give some decent advice... though every now and then that advice involves punching someone 6/10 is fair i think...

I hate little. (Or somewhat now). I hate this stupid mouse that accomplished nothing for the entire volume.

They were a terrible guide, they weren't funny, they were ugly. And they didn't help Ruby at all.(honestly I would also talk for hours on how much I hated Ruby depression arc especially her breakdown but that's not important now) Hell for the most part I forgot they were even there.

And honestly I probably wouldn't care that much if it wasn't for the fact that then they try to tug our heartstrings by having Neo stomp them.

No! I don't care! This scene was already traumatic enough you seriously didn't need that!

Then they try to connect with this theme how the smallest act can impact someone's life. Which I call bias cuz the only thing Rwby did for them was to give them cheese. They tag along on their own after being lost. Ruby wanted them to leave but they insisted and that got them killed.

And it's not like the paper pleasers who were unhappy about their lives and wanted to ascend little was rather fulfilled and happy with his life. Then wtf all that was for.

Also they shouldn't have wasted an episode of rwby beyond on them.

Please vent away! :D

Little feels like such a wasted opportunity to me (if, you know, we resign ourselves to having some version of Volume 9) because:

a) I love cute familiar-like characters b) I love the fairy tale, butterfly effect lesson of 'One small act can lead to huge results, often times in ways you'll never fully understand' c) Little is the one consistent new character the group gets this Volume and thus should, by virtue of being the first they meet/the longest to hang around, the most developed and significant to the conflict.

But they're functionally useless. Worse, they're boring and (to me) annoying. Ruby helps Little get some cheese. Cute meeting! Would love to better understand why they're trying to gather food when they clearly can't do it on their own and why their tribe is otherwise engaged in hunting Blake (she barely even looks like a cat! Her ears blend into her hair and everything else is human!). Looking back, it feels like there are seeds of Little being an outsider here (why are they gathering alone when that's clearly a multi-mouse endeavor? Is it unusual for a mouse to not have a purpose at their age?), which would have helped to explain their motivation for leaving with Ruby, but as it stands it all just feels so rushed and disjointed.

In repayment for the cheese, Little agrees to be Team RWBY's guide. Great, that's very logical and helpful! Except Little spends the whole Volume engaging in a sleeping gag and reminding the girls (the viewer) that they don't actually know anything outside of their tiny territory.

They're emotionally available to Ruby when she's at her lowest? Sort of, but beyond whether you think those scenes feel forced or not (I personally do), I question why that role isn't given to someone we already care about. You all know I've got plenty to say about the previous Volume, but at least those later episodes had the wherewithal to send Yang after Ruby on the staircase. I honestly believe that part of the reason why some people are upset with Yang's response to the depression arc is not simply what she does do (compare Ruby to Ironwood, physically imply that she's siding with Blake, seemingly ignore Ruby's VERY obvious symptoms, etc.), but what she doesn't do too. By giving Ruby this new companion and trying to make Little an emotional center of the Volume, it deprives the other characters (including Ruby's sister) with that role. Granted, it could have been compelling to double-down on those feelings of alienation, culminating in Yang witnessing Ruby's suicide and regretting the choices that lead them there... but the show decided to turn Ruby's "ascension" into this supposedly feel-good moment instead.

Their death is the tipping point that sends Ruby over the edge? I admittedly like the idea. Giving us a small animal, one that many people are afraid of/find nasty, and equating it to a 'simple soul' could have helped sell the idea that all life - ALL LIFE - is precious. Hell, I wonder if it would have been better if Little was just a mouse. No talking, no magic, nothing but an (arguably) cute animal for the audience to cheer for. I can imagine a version of the dining room scene where Ruby is haunted by the people who have died, but she's also still centered enough to argue how those deaths weren't her fault, only for Neo to senselessly kill this little mouse on top of everything else. Maybe it scurries over when Ruby is beaten and bloody, gives her a little lick, something akin to a smile, this moment where she's connecting with a soul that is literally simple, and vulnerable, and doesn't care what Ruby may or may not have done because it's just another creature she's trying to protect... and then crunch comes the boot. It's a completely unnecessary act of cruelty on Neo's fault and the audience must sit with the death of an animal (something that always tugs at the heartstrings) rather than the arguable relief of being rid of Little.

Don't even get me started on their ascension. It straight up doesn't make sense and has the same kind of 'rule' structure as wishing for Penny to get a new body.

First of all, he’s like…the last person to go to for comfort.

Not only because he’s busy but…he rarely handles his own emotions in a healthy way…

But no matter how much he ignores you…it’s distracting having you all fidgety and self-loathing…

Edward will give you something to do to try and take your mind off of it. 

Yes, that’s right…he’s allowing you to help him…

To be in his workshop, with him, quite a privilege really! You’ll probably learn much more from him than any college course!

Almost tries to talk you out of college altogether. 

You know he’s trying and it does mean a lot to know he trusts you enough to be in his workshop. 

Besides…if the Riddler himself trusts you and thinks you’re smart enough…then you must be!

Reevesverse/Dano Riddler: 

Ah, yeah…he recalled not having the best time in college either. 

Edward went in and got out doing the bare minimum just so he could get a decent job

(so much for that, he bemoans)

You’re so much more than any institution, or grades, or anything like that. 

You’re brilliant, intuitive, and perceptive!

He’s quick to comfort you although you may need to tell him how. 

He’ll offer to hold you and rock you back and forth while rubbing your back

Or he’ll let you bend his ear and just vent your emotions and frustrations, he’s learned that sometimes helps. 

Whatever you need him to do, he’ll do it. 

Gotham Riddler: 

Oh gosh, oh dear…

Unlike Dano Riddler, I have a feeling this Eddie absolutely thrived at university. 

Atleast the educational aspects anyhow. 

But he’s familiar with the feeling of not being good enough, no matter how hard you try. 

He takes you in his arms and begins whispering sweet affirmations in your ear. 

You’re enough, you’re more than enough. You’re the best thing that’s happened to him.

Perhaps you’re just burned out, he notices the bags under your eyes. 

And if you’re struggling you can always come to him for help, regardless of the subject. 

Edward knows how amazing you are, but even amazing people need help every once in awhile. 

BTAS Riddler:

Edward is instantly there for you. 

He holds your hands or shoulders and rubs them with his hands, trying to soothe your nerves. 

He hates to see you this upset, but he can understand reaching a boiling point with your own emotions. 

Eddie lets you let it all out, all your anxieties.

He will likely ask you what you need, if you need advice, comfort, or just his presence. 

He will gladly oblige to whatever you choose. 

Like Gotham Riddler, he’ll offer to help you with your school work

He’ll comfort you with kisses and embraces.

He will sit by your side until you’ve calmed down and will be ready with something to take your mind off your anxieties.  

Zero Year/Cappullo Riddler: 

Again, not exactly the first guy I’d go to for comfort or reassurance. 

Edward will just shrug, not entirely sure why you care what your professors or peers think. 

If anyone’s thoughts should count, it’s his. 

You should feel worthy of yourself because he tolerates you…

That’s him being nice, I told you he’s not the best at this. 

Ed gets confused when you don’t continue the bait to banter. 

He sighs when he sees the absolutely crestfallen look on your face. 

It takes everything he can, but he tells you that you’re special…to him especially…

It takes a certain someone to put up with him, your tenacity, your brightness…that’s all you. 

TWOJAR Riddler: 

Edward honestly doesn’t understand why you choose to go anyway. 

You could easily learn whatever you need to know from him, instead of some dull professor. 

He thinks it’s strange that you let something trivial as school get to you, it’s not like it’s going to last forever, unless you insist of going to get a better degree. 

He tries, he honestly does, but again he just doesn’t understand the big deal. 

You’re clearly smart, you got into that school anyway, and you impress him time and time again. 

Him, you know, The Riddler? You have nothing to prove…this pressure you feel from school is temporary. 

Edward isn’t the best with words of comfort, but somehow the effort he tried to put in is enough to make you feel a little better. 

Gotham City Sirens Riddler: 

Edward was curious why your mind seemed to be somewhere else. 

You also began second-guessing yourself, which wasn’t like you. 

When you admit your insecurities and how you’ve been struggling with your self-worth from college. 

Edward’s perplexed. Really? College courses? 

Why do you care? College is a means to an end. 

You’re obviously really intelligent, almost on par with him.

You often helped him think outside of the box on his more obscure cases.

He didn’t just allow anyone to be his assistant, or to aid him on cases. 

Maybe, he should tell you that more often, but when he tells you it definitely makes you feel warm inside. 

Telltale Riddler: 

Likely frowned upon you attending a university anyway.

But I can see this Edward using it as a means to distract you from interfering with his work.

Also another Ed not to go to for comfort, lmao. 

Doesn’t understand why you put so much pressure on yourself when it’s not necessary. 

Especially for some meager classes. 

He leaves you alone to grovel for a bit, assuming it will pass eventually like such emotions do…

But he realizes that your moping silence is more distracting than when you’re trying to get his attention with affection. 

Edward reassures you that you’re just enough how you are, if you weren’t you wouldn’t be with him now would you?

The comment surprises you, but makes you perk up nonetheless.

Young Justice Riddler: 

Bless him, Eddie gets upset because you’re upset. 

Man is panicking slightly but tries his best to hold it together. 

When you let him in on the growing, heavy pressure building up, and how you feel like a failure…

Eddie’s heart cracks for you. You can’t be serious?

You’re more than enough, you’re not a failure, are you kidding? You’re the glue that holds the team together! You have the best plans!

Screw that school, they’re not worth your attention! 

B-But maybe, you could also be burned out? It’s been a while but, he’s been to school…

Edward nervously offers to help you with your school work, but enforces that it doesn’t have to be like a date or anything. 

His endearing comments and efforts are enough to ease your insecurities, especially in favor to help him with his.

I like the idea of a SpiderPosh.

He's a kid, born into money. He was born with a silver spoon up his ass and has been to private school all his life.

He got bitten on a fancy school trip. He has a fancy East End accent and drinks tea with his pinky out. He wears polos and ascots and Calvin Klein underwear unironically.

Hobie meets him and it's like 'ugh fucking hell' cause growing up in London he's come across his fair share of twats

But instead of being stuck up - SpiderPosh is just... Totally innocent and naive in nature.

He's the complete opposite of Hobie - coming from a 'utopian' universe like 2099. He genuinely thinks bigotry is horrifying and unfathomable. He hears about the things that happen in Hobies universe and he's just - floored.

Not only that, but he's concerned. It upsets him. Despite his looks and nature, Posh is extremely firm in his belief in justice, and kindness, and fairness.

To him, the thought of homelessness, and poverty and bigotry is gutting.

The more he knows about discrimination the more he hates it. The more he wants to help.

That's how he starts idolizing Hobie -

At first Posh is entirely intimidated by Hobie, with his bright colors and jagged edges. Whereas Posh is like the pages of a perfectly printed hardback novel.

He's afraid Hobie might hate him, or think he's a poseur. But he still tries anyway, apologizing for even bothering Hobie.

At first, he just asks what his anarchy patch means, and when Hobie tells him, Posh can't help but be dazzled.

A world without leaders, without borders, without poverty or excess. Posh tells him the idea sounds beautiful.

"I think we could do it - humans I mean. It's possible. We all want to do better, we just have to hold ourselves accountable. I'd give up a lot, for a world like that. I'd know we'd all sleep better at night, am I right?"

"Yeah," Hobie tells him. "You are."

Posh plays the interaction on repeat. Thinking about how Hobie explained it so easily, and stood on it so firmly.

He didn't know why his hands would sweat at the thought, even hours later.

And Hobie keeps it in mind too.

Later, he comes to Posh, giving him a book on Anarchy - told him it was due back at his universe's library in a couple days. But he'd figured that maybe a Posh would want a read.

Posh enhales the book in that time, reading over the pages Hobie had dog-earred, the scraps of paper stuffed between the pages with Hobies handwriting and thoughts.

The day the book is do back Posh gives it back to him, and the two send their entire lunch in the Society Campus food court, spilling their thoughts.

Posh thinks he's amazing. He tells him so.

Hobie thinks he's benevolent - a reminder of the good in the multiverse, the true good, the people worth fighting for.

Soon, he starts pestering Hobie, eager to pick his brain - asking for protesting tactics, and how to get people to listen.

Hobie is a happy teacher, always patient, and always fun. He's Posh's favorite type of person. So entirely him, that Posh could never seem to forget how other worldly he seemed.

When Posh learns about Hobies blue laces, to be honest, he's shocked. If anything, he's a bit upset. None of which surprised Hobie. He knew Posh was sheltered, altruistic to a fault.

But it's not that Posh is disgusted with him.

If anything, he's worried sick for Hobie.

He's asks him if he wants to talk about it, or unpack it, or if he's still processing it. The thought of Hobie killing someone, and then living with it everyday scared Posh. Hobies still a person.

But Hobies mostly over it.

Posh understands that sometimes things need to be done, but he still wonders how Hobie carries it with him. He doesn't bring it up anymore though. Hobie has made it clear it isn't a venting matter.

Sure, Hobies rock sounds like the sounds of cars being compacted to Posh, but he likes supporting Hobie.

Posh plays classical violin and piano, and although he and Hobie basically never play together - Hobie, a fellow musician, loves Posh's technique and the complexity of his pieces.

Sure they're the exact opposite. Sure Posh eats pizza with a fork and knife - and Hobie has to teach him how to eat it otherwise - but deep down they're fighting for the same cause.

They have the same values and views and love for the world. They'd both die for freedom and equality.

jasper slips into your home through an unlocked window. he was hoping you were still here and not somewhere being sad. as soon as he walks upstairs, he can feel your presence. it was sad, overwhelmingly sad. carefully, jasper peers into your room. you’re fast asleep, back turned to him, yet your emotions were devastated. stepping into the room and closing your door, jasper rounds your bed, examining you for any signs of distress. you had dried tears upon your face, and jasper sighs. “oh, sweetheart…” he mutters, cold thumb making your face scrunch up as he wipes them away. he glances down, your song book had fallen from your hand, a mess upon the floor.

curiously, jasper scoops it up carefully.

jasper sighs, closing the book and looking from it to you. you looked so idyllic, so peaceful. carefully, he places the book upon your bedside table, moving around the bed to lay down with you. his arm curls around your waist and you shuffle a little, exhaling calmly. jasper sighs, resting his forehead to the back of your neck. “you okay?” you mutter softly, and jasper hums. “yeah… are you?” he responds. “i’m alright.” that was a lie, he could feel your sadness. “wanna talk about it?” you ask him, and jasper sighs. “yeah… i uh- i overheard you and edward.” you let out a soft ‘oh’. jasper feels ill. “are you… are you cheating on me?” he adds on, voice tiny. “no..! no, of course not. why would you think that?” you ask, and jasper exhales shakily. “i just- i heard edward telling you to ditch your plans and go with some other guy and you sounded so happy-“ he mutters, choking up. rolling over, you hug him back. jasper clings to you, burying his face into your neck.

“jasper, we were talking about you.” you explain, and he feels incredibly stupid. “what..?” he pulls away. your hand gently cups his cheek. “he was telling me to cancel my plans next week so i could do something for you. it was meant to be a surprise but uh… it seems it’s been spoiled.” you smile sheepishly. jasper exhales with relief, all his negative emotions venting from his body. you smile at him a little and your boyfriend immediately snatches your lips in a kiss. your hand slips into his hair, cradling him close. “i would never cheat on you.” you mutter against his lips. “i know- i know, i’m sorry.” jasper responds, kissing you again.

“i really wanted to surprise you next week. i’ll have to get you some other time.” you joke as the two of you finally pull away. “sorry, sweetheart.” jasper smiles, brushing his nose against yours. “it’s okay. i was planning to take you out to the park late at night like some weird picnic type thing. there was gonna be cheesy music and edward was planning on setting it up.” you explain, jasper laughs softly. “thank you for the thought sweetheart. we can still do it considering our actual date has been… ruined.” you smile sadly, kissing his nose gently. “i dunno, jas. the nights still young.” you suggest, sitting up. jasper follows you. “what are you suggesting?” he asks, smiling at you. “come on.” you stand, tugging his cold hand. jasper huffs out a soft laugh.

you pull him flush to your chest, arms wrapping around him. jasper immediately hugs you back, squeezing slightly. “what are we doing?” he asks, voice quiet. “dancing, silly.” you respond, kissing his shoulder. “i see.” jasper chuckles, leaning his head against yours, swaying with you slowly. “this is much more romantic, if i may say so.” you giggle, squeezing him. “we’re like the modern romeo and juliet.” he muses, and you laugh. “totally, except we won’t die at the end.” jasper smiles. “no?” he humours you, and you hum. “no. we’ll have what they couldn’t have.” his heart almost beats again. “and what would that be?” he mutters, kissing your head softly. “a happy life, together. no more stupid situations where one thinks the other is cheating.” you pinch his side playfully. jasper laughs a little. “i’m sorry.”

the two of you stand in silence, relishing the moment with each other. “i love you.” jasper mumbles, you smile. he can feel pure love and adoration radiating off of you. “i love you too.” you respond, yet he already knows that. “i didn’t mean to pry, but i read your song.” he admits and you gasp, gently slapping his back. “peeper.” you smile into his neck. jasper laughs. “it’s beautiful, but i want to assure you that nothing was your fault. i jumped to conclusions. i shouldn’t of ignored you.” jasper closes his eyes, palm slipping into yours. “thank you..” you mumble, and jasper smiles, kissing your head once more. “your feelings were valid too. i would of reacted the same way.” you add on, and jasper exhales through his nose. “i never thought i’d hate anything more than falling out with you.” jasper huffs out a laugh. “i know.” you giggle, squeezing his hand. “i love you.”

Little Daydreamer (regressor muichiro tokito hcs)

author's note: omg hi !!! i would love to! unfortunately, I don't exactly have the spoons for a whole drabble, but I can do some cg hashira & agere muichiro, with a focus on cg mitsuri! i love doing agere content, esp since i'm a regressor myself! some of the habits, i'm going to be drawing from my own experience, but i do feel like they'd fit muichiro too!!!

Little Muichiro is normally an easy child. One might say he's an angel or even a little spacey boy.

But, the times where Muichiro play regresses are rare and far between.

Normally, it's something that upsets the Mist Hashira to the point where he needs that sense of protection.

Whether it be a particularly rough mission, a reminder of his past, or even someone slamming their hand down on a table (coughsanemicough) Muichiro will shrink back.

The signs are subtle, and sometimes he'd go a whole day without being noticed that he slipped... Unless he's around Mitsuri.

Mitsuri Kanroji

He's always trusted the Love Hashira with his regressed self. She just had this maternal factor to her that made him feel safe.

So when Mitsuri notices Muichiro's brow slightly furrowed or him biting softly on his lip, she springs into action.

"Hi there little one. Do you wanna come with Mama Mitsu? Wanna talk about it?" She would ask, kneeling down to Muichiro's height and holding out her hand.

Muichiro, being a nonverbal little, would obviously not want to talk about it, just give vague details. When he does speak, it's in a hushed voice in Mitsuri's ear.

"Scawy... Dun' like... Wan' baba..."

Mitsuri immediately understands and takes Muichiro by the hand, taking him to a secluded, calming area and giving him a child's cup and a small wood pacifier with the nib made out of natural rubber.

When the other Hashira took notice, they didn't know what to do, though Mitsuri advised them to just treat him like a child.

So, they did... With varying degrees of success.

Gyomei Himejima

Poor guy didn't know what to do when Muichiro started crying after he fell over and scraped his knee

He's blind, not like he could see the wound. So, obviously, he calls Shinobu over.

While she tends to the wound, Gyomei then thinks of something to help Muichiro stop wailing.

He then remembers a song his mother sang to him whenever the Rock Hashira was crying as a child. So, he gently takes Muichiro into his arms and sings.

The soft rumble of his chest and soothing breath lulls Muichiro into a nap, the little one curling into the burly man's chest.

When I tell you this man started sobbing.

And when Muichiro gives Gyomei the nickname gogo, he melts and happily accepts the title.

Sanemi Shinazugawa

Sanemi immediately grows protective of Muichiro

He's the oldest of five kids, he doesn't want to see someone he considers another little brother to get hurt

So when the Wind Hashira sees the child upset, he immediately springs into action, wiping the little one's tears away with a gentle hand.

"Ey, ey, none'a that, li'l one. C'mon, what's wrong? Wha'cha need, kiddo?"

He hates seeing Muichiro cry. Not because he doesn't like when kids cry or display emotion...

It reminds him of the times where his father got to his siblings before he can.

"Nemi... Wan up... Wan nemi..." The two year old would mumble, making grabby hands for the white-haired male.

So, of course, Sanemi would oblige. And he will carry Muichiro until he wants to be let down or Sanemi has to do something.

Also, whenever Sanemi is about to cuss, he stops and replaces it with a censored word. Or tell Muichiro to "use earmuffs", aka cover his ears.

"I've only had little Muichiro for about two minutes. But if anything were to happen to him, I will take out everyone in this room and then myself."

Protective big brother

Giyuu Tomioka

Is this how Tsutako felt...?

As he shushes the crying child, patting his back and rocking him while sitting on the floor, Giyuu's mind trails back to his late sister.

She's always been something of a mother to him, since theirs was absent and Giyuu never knew her due to her dying during his birth.

He remembers how Tsutako calmed him when he was near-inconsolable like how Muichiro is now.

Whenever Giyuu woke up from nightmares, his sister will hold his head to her chest, against her heart, and sing...

So Giyuu does that. His voice is soft as he presses Muichiro's head against his heart, the soft beating and swaying rhythm calming the wailing toddler.

"As long as I'm here, no one can hurt you... Don't wanna lie here, but you can learn to... If I can change the way that you see yourself... You wouldn't wonder why, dear, they don't deserve you..."

The crying would subside into small sniffles and coughs from ragged breathing. Giyuu would sigh with relief, thankful that trick still works.

He then gets Muichiro some dango to cheer up, eating it with the small Hashira in his lap.

Obanai Iguro

He's afraid he's going to hurt the kid.

Muichiro is volatile as it is, and he doesn't want to upset the child further.

Mitsuri said that if he's just patient, he'll be okay.

But he feels it wearing a bit thin when Muichiro starts fussing and he doesn't know what to do. and Mitsuri's out on a mission.

So, Obanai just sits there, paralyzed and not knowing what to do as Muichiro fusses.

And then... He just scoops the kiddo up and holds him.

"Hey, uh... I dunno what's goin' on with you... But I'ma try 'nd be here, 'kay? Y'at least deserve that much..."

He remembers those nights in that damn clan... Well, it was more of a cult than a clan. In that wood cage, isolated and prone to the elements.

He remembers wishing for someone to hold him. To give him that warmth in the frigid loneliness.

So, he wants to be that for the volatile Muichiro. He wants to be that warmth.

He wants to be the person he never got as a kid... So, he stays by Muichiro when the other Hashira are busy and can't take up babysitting at the moment.

After all... Being called "banban!!" isn't too bad...

Shinobu Kocho

Besides Mitsuri, Muichiro also trusts Shinobu with his regression.

Mitsuri was the first one to inform Shinobu of Muichiro's littlespace when he was sick once and vent regressed.

Shinobu, being good with kids, immediately knew what to do.

While in the Butterfly Mansion recovering, Muichiro would be practically doted on by Shinobu, Kanao and Aoi.

The attention was a bit much when the three crowded him, causing him to fuss. So, for a couple days, it was just Shinobu tending to him.

When she tried giving him medicine and he refused, she then approached it differently.

"Sweetie, I know the medicine is icky, but you have to take it if you want to play with Mitsi again... Tell you what - You can take it in a cup and drink water after... Or I can mix it with some tea so it's not as icky."

Muichiro contemplates the question before uttering "tea...", sniffling from a runny nose.

Afterwards, Shinobu tells him how brave he is for taking a big step through bigger emotions. He hugs her, clinging to her robes and calls her "Shibu..."

The name makes her melt almost instantly.

After he feels better, he plays with Kanao and Aoi in the courtyard, laughing and jovial again while Mitsuri comes to pick him up.

Tengen Uzui

Tengen is considered the fun uncle.

That being said, he isn't as laid back as Rengoku is.

He gives the kid structure, something he never had growing up in a shinobi clan.

And if Muichiro accidentally messes with something, it's gently explained to him.

"Hey there, li'l guy. If you do that, then you'll get super hurt, 'nd we don't want that, huh?"

Muichiro would nod and feel guilty before Tengen hugs him and explains no, kid, 'm not mad, just worried about you.

The wives adore Muichiro.

Hinatsuru helps him calm down and practices deep breathing with him when his emotions get really high.

Makio play-chases him around the house, making Muichiro laugh.

And whenever Muichiro cries, he cries with Suma. The two let out their emotions together, hugging each other and being the support for the other.

Life at Tenten's house is fun for Muichiro, and he knows no matter what that he's safe and loved there.

Kyojuro Rengoku

Ohhhhhh my goodness.

If this man isn't the embodiment of chaos now, then put him on babysitting duty for Muichiro.

There's a reason there has to be two adults present when Rengoku has Muichiro under his care.

Rengoku is the type of caregiver who will do things the actual caregiver tells them not to with a sly "don't tell cg" and a laugh.

When he starts trying to get onto Muichiro about something he shouldn't be doing, he immediately stops and wants in on it, too.

"Up, bupbupbup, what'd we say 'bout candy before dinner?... Actually... 'Ey lemme have some'a that, looks good-"

When he carries Muichiro, he carries him over his shoulder like a sack of rice, so when someone calls for him he just-

"Hey, Rengoku-san!"

*spins around rlly fast, making Muichiro give those baby belly giggles* "Yeah?"

This doesn't mean he isn't serious during the tougher times. He will become fiercely protective over an injured/crying Muichiro.

"Whoever decided to put their hands on my sunshine, please come outside so I can peacefully break your legs :)"

Hi, my friend has a chronic illness that flares up sometimes and we've been wanting to hang out but it has gotten cancelled a couple times lately bc of her not feeling well enough on the day. I want to ask her how she feels cuz I care abt her a lot and want an update but 1, I don't want her to feel pressured or like I'm asking just to ask can we hang out now, and not bc I care abt how she's feeling (does that make sense? I may be overthinking this) and 2, I genuinely wanna know how she's doing but idk what to say if she responds with her not being better, sometimes u don't feel better and that's ok but I always want to offer comfort somehow or just convey my friendship? but I feel the same everytime and don't want to sound repetitive ?

Any thoughts?

this is really kind of you & it means so much to me that you want to support your friend & are putting so much thought into it! my response is inherently based in my own experience to an extent & everybody’s different, but a lot if not all of this is stuff i’ve heard regularly from other chronically ill people. of course, don’t say anything you don’t mean – if some of this isn’t the case for you, just adapt accordingly :)

i understand worrying about being repetitive but i think that’s totally okay to do! for one thing, it can be difficult to remember things period when you’re ill, especially during a flare, & for another, internalized + societal ableism is a hell of a force. it never hurts to have a reminder that not everyone is trying to force ableist expectations onto you + your friendship & that someone cares about you!

i think you can definitely tell your friend pretty much what you told me! like, “hey, it’s okay if you aren’t feeling up for responding but i just wanted to check on you! not trying to pressure you to hang out or anything, i just care about you & how you’re doing”

honestly the most important + supportive thing people have ever told me is that it’s okay if the answer is “bad.” i’m literally like surprised pikachu meme every time somebody offers to let me vent about having a rough time & then it helps me just to talk about it. it’s really socially unacceptable to talk about chronic pain & a lot of people get frustrated when you’re complaining about the same thing & there’s not really anything they can do, so just the opportunity to be like “yeah shit fucking sucks right now” means a lot.

obv the appropriateness of this depends on the person & their relationship to disability but most of the time i’m very like, radical acceptance / embracing / etc about the fact that i’m probably just gonna get sicker, so sometimes when i’m having a rough time emotionally & am like “what if i’m this bad for the rest of my life” my gf (who doesn’t have chronic pain / chronic illness) will say something like “then i can’t wait to be there with you ❤️” & it’s more meaningful to me than i can begin to put into words.

again everybody’s different but for me one of the biggest things is when disability stuff just… isn’t a big deal to the other person. which, it’s totally okay for you to need support from others when someone you care about is going through a hard time & when things change! but abled people are constantly horrified about like, every aspect of my life, so being able to talk casually about symptoms & somebody mirror the mood / tone i set – laugh if i’m joking, be upset about the ableism i experience & not my body itself if i’m complaining about people being weird about it, taking things as they come – is so affirming.

other things that have been helpful + meaningful for me are friends sending me notes, stickers, & art in the mail – having something tangible can make me feel more “real” & part of the world, something i struggle with due to being homebound – & peer support around medical neglect, which often just looks like talking to someone after a doctor’s appointment & them reaffirming my reality / experiences & saying i didn’t deserve to be treated that way.

oh one other change in language i’ve made over time & probably picked up from a few other ill people in my life is a sort of realistic encouragement – there’s not necessarily anything wrong with “i hope you feel better soon!” because like, i get that the message is well-intentioned, but it can be awkward & difficult to receive when you don’t know if that’s gonna happen. instead, i try to tell people something like “i hope you get a bit of relief soon” or “i hope things are a little easier tomorrow.” a 7/10 pain day may be horrifying for most people, but when you’ve had a streak of 9s, it can be a much-needed taking the edge off, & i try to make space for that breadth of experience in my language.

Sing My Crush: Men Need to Be Angry Sometimes

Now that episodes 5 and 6 of Sing My Crush have aired, I finally feel like I have the confidence and timing to write this post. I’m not sure how many men are in Tumblr BL fandom watching and writing along with us, but it often feels like there’s less than ten of us. As such, there are times when these guys express intense emotions that the (femme) fandom at large seems to struggle with that make perfect sense for me, particularly when it comes to anger.

The most notable recent example of my breaking with fandom reactions happened with Episode 10 of La Pluie with Phat’s explosion in the rain confrontation and aftermath. I thought that Phat’s betrayal and hurt came through loudly, and I totally understood him finally losing his cool after being dicked around by Saengtai for multiple years. Others struggled with this and turned on Phat. Today, I want to talk about Han Baram and Im Hantae and Hantae’s choice to take Baram to a boxing gym to vent out his frustrations.

Quite a bit happens in this episode in terms of the broad spectrum of male feeling. With Sangin, you get his need for control and power. He is cruel in every interaction and physically throws Baram into a wall to yell in his face.

He derides Hantae and diminishes the support he’s given Baram for years.

With Jeong Pal, we get him crying and despondent over Baram’s decision to leave them. He is allowed to be upset, and all Hantae asks is that they try to trust Baram.

Baram is so sad for me because he’s always holding so much of his feelings inside. I love Baram’s confession to Hantae in this episode because it feels not too dissimilar to the first love song he wrote: Letter of Apology. He feels like his feelings are a burden to others and that he is inconveniencing them. He doesn’t even wait around to let Hantae process what’s going on, like many of his K-BL brethren recently (Looking at you Our Dating Sim and Individual Circumstances!).

Finally, we get to In Hamtae. After all the awful things that have gone down this episode, he is so gentle with Han Baram before taking him to the boxing gym.

He leads him by the hand to a seat and gently wraps his hands for him even as you can see he’s still pissed with Han Baram the whole time. He even takes a moment to laugh and call Baram cute while putting on the headgear.

Once they finally get to the boxing ring, he gives Baram a literal shove to get his emotions out so he can finally vent his frustrations. He tells Baram to envision his right hand and Jin Sangin and his left hand as Im Hantae. He sees the uncertainty in Baram’s eyes, and reassures him that he envisions punching Baram’s face all the time and to not overthink it. He cheers Baram on as he finally starts to punch with force. We even get to hear Baram’s exertions as he’s finally letting out his feelings.

Y’all, when I tell you I started to cry so hard as Baram finally got to audibly express some of his frustrations. He needed to be mad. He deserved to be mad. What Sangin did to him was cruel. He ruined Baram’s first confession. He made him feel weird and undesirable. He later stole his goddamned song from him. He threatened him if Baram tried to fight back in any way. Baram needed to express that anger. It isn’t always going to be pretty, and I love that Im Hantae gave him a space to do that.

Still, we’re not done. Im Hantae makes them switch places, and he’s practiced at this. He says all of the feelings that are on his mind:

If you go to Highcode Entertainment, what about our band?

What about our dream?

What about me?

You’re so bad. How could you have confessed in that way?

That’s why you got dumped.

Then he throws the gloves at Han Baram, who asks such a heartbreaking question: “Why is it so tiring to like someone? What did I do wrong?” Im Hantae hugs him, and Han Baram is finally starting to push back on how others make him feel when he chides Hantae for how hard he hit him. Hantae assures him that he did nothing wrong and the two of them end up resting on the floor of the gym together in a shot that definitely came from the source material.

I just absolutely love that the final scenes of this episode are about how righteous it is for Baram and Hantae to be angry and upset about the things that have happened, including the things they might have done to each other. Men feel the full gamut of emotions, and anger is one of those. Sometimes that anger comes out explosively, and often it’s ugly. It is so important to me that we earnestly engage with men’s anger in a genre about close, personal relationships. We often get angry on behalf of characters that are being done wrong, and I think it’s so important that we interrogate the kinds of anger we allow characters to express in our shows.

With these two, there’s something so special about the tenderness Hantae showed Baram before, during, and after the boxing sequence to make sure Baram finally let out his own frustrations and hurt.

A note about the shame "criteria"

I think a lot of people get a little confused about what kind of shame is in question

It's not what you think

Understanding Shame - And so the purpose of shame is actually survival: shame teaches us to avoid behaviours that would see us excluded from the group. And shame puts the brake on behaviours that provoke more attack.

Trauma survivors have (typically) spent their entire lives being disregarded, ignored, disbelieved. It's very normal for survivors to feel out of place, misunderstood, and very, very alone.

They often do their best to minimize their symptoms and act like things are better than they are, typically refusing to seek or accept help, they often blame themselves for the things that happened to them (as children, no less), they're often embarrassed admitting that those things happened, and talking about specifics can be so upsetting and you can't help but hate yourself for not being stronger.

Shame comes in so many flavours... Attack self is a huge one. Withdrawal. Avoidance.

Maybe you were frequently called out in front of the class for severe dissociation daydreaming-- now you're afraid of having any kind of attention on you, and you really wish your partner would stop looking at you like that, why are they looking at you, something hurts but you don't know what

Maybe because of how often you were called out, you tried to ask for help but were told that you're overreacting, things aren't that bad, you should be more grateful, and now you're embarrassed and really don't want to tell your new therapist how much you're actually struggling, because she might think you're lying, and you probably are just making a big deal out of nothing

Maybe you struggle to pay attention to your best friend venting to you because Dissociation™️, and that's clearly your fault, you're the problem in the friendship-- but then again, haven't you always been the problem?

Maybe you struggle with relationships-- sex is painful after what happened, and you haven't found a partner patient enough to figure it out-- you're giving up hope that anyone could love you

Maybe one of your alters absolutely lost it on a very good friend, and now you have to deal with the consequences without telling them too much about what's really going on, but at this point they're suspicious and they're telling all your other friends you're crazy. Maybe you are?

Maybe you opened up to someone you thought you could trust, but the look in their eyes has you backpedaling, wishing you had never opened your mouth-- you desperately hope nothing will change between you two, and you know better now

Maybe you're ashamed that you're a system because the media says that's fucked up, what happened to you was fucked up, and all your individual budding symptoms of DID were scrutinized and corrected and disciplined and pushed aside that by the time you realized what was happening, you already knew better than to talk about it

Or maybe you just feel ashamed because you love your system, the terrible gift left behind after your experiences

If you can relate to this, these are all forms of distress, dysfunction, and shame, and they are totally normal and understandable. They count. It doesn't need to be hating your system. It doesn't need to embarrassment.

And shame doesn't need to define you.
