your opinion on the latest movie you've seen 🍿
I was ABOUT to say I never watch movies but actually to days ago I saw equalizer 3 with my bf and someone visiting him from GERMANY! So anyways here's my review:
Note: I have not seen or heard of the first 2 movies in this series LOL
It's a pretty standard action movie very predictable IMO however it was very entertaining albeit a bit gory for my tastes (the bar is low). I think that although the plot was fairly basic it was neat watching the three teams? Factions? Move in parallel. And also the internal conflict with the "bad guys." But again it was very simple and predictable so you can probably already imagine the plot. I think they an opportunity to tell a story about disability (mf got SHOT in the BACK (literally) at the start of the movie and the first half is essentially him living in a town while healing) so I think there couldve been an angle to look at not being able to as much as you used and coping with that. That didn't happen at all AND THATS FINE. (I don't trust action movie writer to have something good to say about disabilities) the story they did tell about community and the power of helping others regardless of reward WAS very pleasant I like all the scenes of him interacting with the town. There is also a HINT of a statement about the lack of humanity and compassion in the process of dehousing people in favour of turing the building into commercial properties (ie tourism). But it's MORE just way to show the bad guys are evil fr.
ALL THAT BEING SAID!!!! the ending fucking sucked lol. It was wildly anti climactic. We sre shown that the guy is good at fighting his way through multiple guys at once and it looked sick!!! And then the final "fight" is just a 10 mins stealth (and assassination) sequence followed by a weird 10 min torture.....? Sequence. Idk that final part was WEIRD. And then it was...... not mentioned for the entire resolution of the movie..... there is like no closure for the town really there is little mention of what happened to the greater organization it is just ignored (or maybe I forgot cause it was barely mentioned idk) The final scene where he is like now TRULY just another one of the towns people was a really nice resolution FOR HIM.
Overall I think it was enjoyable and im not mad I spent however long watching it. Would I recommend it to someone? Maybe. If they want a decent standard action movie then yeah! It's definitely one of those!!
OH RIGHT!!!!!!!!!! Some of the shots were really pretty I really like how they framed some of the scenes or the transitions between scenes was good TO ME. that was the one good part of the final sequence was the way they actually showed it. Like it obscured his exact path and plan but also made each action very clear and show off the guys skill. I guess. There's one part that was very interesting to me anyways. Okay that's it ^.^

“They gave me runway in this film. There’s one monologue in there. I can’t tell you the details of it. I say more words in that monologue than I said in an entire movie once as Wolverine. But there are sides of the character that I’ve been scratching at for 24 years […] There is stuff in this movie where I was like, ‘This is the thing I’ve been trying to get out’ and I feel so excited about it.”

If you are a person who hates men because they are men not only are you inherently alienating anyone queer person who identifies as a man but you are failing to hold the actual horrible men accountable for their actions.
Being a creep, a predator, a pervert, etc. is not inherent to being a man and thinking/saying that removes any sense of responsibility from the actual disgusting men who exist.
Call out the individuals so they can face the consequences of their actions, don’t just shrug it off as “well that’s how men are because they’re all terrible”. “
All men are evil” is just a round about way of saying “boys will be boys” and although both statements have different intentions they remove all accountability from those who deserve it.
And do not ever expect any trans man to change themself because you associate masculinity and manliness with being a predator. Love your trans brothers and embrace them as men or you don’t have the right to call yourself queer.

Sherlock Holmes is a canonically queer character. He makes it abundantly clear that he has no intrest in women, he is not attracted to them, he has no intrest in marriage. He is queer.
If we take the canon texts at face value, he's aroace. But reading him as gay is also another very valid interpretation, given the time period in which the stories were written. Hell, maybe he's both.
Ultimately, I don't think it matters much. He's queer, and that makes me very very happy.

One thing for those who have watched The Boy and The Heron or will watch it. The Japanese title for it is How Do You Live? And Miyazaki stated he was leaving it for his grandson, saying, "Grandpa is moving onto the next world soon but he is leaving behind this film".
The deaths of contemporaries and friends such as Satoshi Kon and Isao Takahata and also the expected successor of Yoshifumi Kondo were things that have always weighed heavily on the back of Miyazaki's mind.
He recognizes the industry and the occupation for how soul crushing it was, grinding up either the spirit or the physical body of those who work in it. He loves and hates the industry he stands on the peak of and fully recognizes how it will probably be the death of him. And he knows it'll leave him unable to say a lot of things to his Grandson.
So How Do You Live? is a lesson. For his grandson. For himself. For his two sons. And probably for anyone else willing to pay attention.
Hayao Miyazaki is a flawed man that makes things so important to so many people. And I think more than any other film of his, in this you get to pull back the curtain a bit and see him at work. And what should be this giant unblemished titan can be seen for what he is, a sad old man who had higher hopes for himself and has even higher hopes for the people he makes his work for.
It's a beautiful thing to see another's humanity in their work. To look past the artifice and glam of commercialized art and find humans behind it. And humans willing to show their humanity and mortality is even rarer. And something to be celebrated. So when you watch it. Or if you've watched it already. Understand that this film is Miyazaki kneeling down, weary after years of weaving dreams and making mistakes, reaching out and saying to you that he hopes you can do better. It's an old man who's made all the mistakes of the world passing it on to you, hoping you do better, and making sure you know it's okay if you don't.
How do you Live? By making mistakes. By messing up. But still moving forward. And still reaching out.

Alright so I fucking love any of the Robins interacting with the rouge gallery. Like Poison Ivy just fucking sighing at Dick's plant related jokes because it's been 4 fucking years when will he get new material and Two face just loving the irony of fucking with Jason because he's the second Robin, but one that has been on fucking tumble dry in head is Tim and Cat Woman, not Tim as stray or any form of relation outside mask, just Cat woman and Robin
And like maybe Batman and Robin are at this museum because Bruce knew that she would stir up shit soon because there's a shit ton of jewels on display and like Selina is actively picking up this big fucking ruby unaware that Batman and Robin are about to make their debut with a lecture but Tim!Robin yells with the most indignant voice Bruce had ever heard
"YOU CANT STEAL THAT"
and like the entire illusion of mystique is loss and Batman is just baffled because what the fuck Tim
and like Selina is also fucking baffled because, what?
And like Tim is like floundering because how the fuck does he explain without showing his hand, but then he just says fuck it, and he starts striding towards Cat Woman, lecture ready
"You can't steal that, Drake industries funded the stealing of that 7 years ago from the country of Morroco, it was important to an ancient civilization there and the local museums were desperate for it"
He spit this all out rapid fire continuing his stride towards Catwoman and taking a breath before continuing "BUT, Drake industries is under new management and the current acting CEO is working to return influential artifacts stolen from their cultures", he finished this while reaching Catwoman and plucking the ruby from her dumbfounded hand and placing it back on display, before proceeding to point at four other artifacts and finishing off lamely with "those too"
He then walked back over to stand at Batman's side. He may have baffled Batman beyond belief, but hey, he gained Catwomans respect

there are a lot of evil people in the world and a lot of darkness in the world and so it’s very important for me to stress that now more than ever is the time to spread kindness and compassion. combat the evil by not only not partaking in it, but actively refuting it. destroy the notion that being compassionate or generous or kind to someone is uncool or embarrassing or even scary. be the change you want to see. start a chain reaction. positivity only breeds more positivity. do an act of kindness for someone so that that person who is too afraid to do it themselves can see you, realize that they’re not alone, and perhaps sheepishly follow your example. and then the next person who is too afraid but sees that person can do the same. when bad news comes out about bad people or horrible atrocities in the world it’s such an easy impulse to despair, and obviously it’s important to feel what you need to feel. grieve. be angry. be sorrowful. be empathetic. but dust off your pants and get up and be a part of a chain reaction that, no matter how small the scale, and spread compassion and love and care. all the reasons why you might not—“it’s hard! it’s scary! people will make fun of me! it’s useless because there’s too much evil!” are all grade A arguments as to why you should. you have no idea how many people you could inspire to do the same. even if it doesn’t get you anyway far, you can at least say you have the nobility of trying. please choose love and please choose life. you are worth loving and you are worth inspiring others to love
