NEW PARTICIPANT CHALLENGE

I've been thinking of ways to get everyone engaged with this space lately and came up with a new challenge!

Unlike Challenge Mondays, this will go all month long and restart monthly. Everyone can participate, but the more you complete certain tasks, the better you'll do!

There are three badges you could earn each month:

Rec Champ

To earn this badge, you must rec 10 stories OFF ANON per month outside of the Challenge Monday, Theme Weekend, and Writer's Wednesday requests. You cannot rec your own *work to be considered for this badge.

Star Supporter

To earn this badge, you must reblog every Writer's Spotlight, Challenge Announcement, Theme Weekend Announcement, and the Month Calendar, as well as at least 10 recs that are not your own *work.

Challenge Rockstar

To earn this badge, you must rec a fic for all of the Challenge Mondays and Theme Weekends, as well as reblogging the announcement posts for each Monday and weekend. In addition to our existing challenges, you must participate in our Reader Reviews -- another new program where we'll ask a question once a week on Fridays about your fic reading!

And one person will receive the ALL STAR BADGE!

This will go to the person who completes all three challenges and recs the most overall.

*You can absolutely still rec your own work overall, but it will not count toward any of the badges!

I'm working on the badges now but if anyone is interested in helping with the badges, please reach out!

This may be the only month we do this, but I figured it could be a fun way to engage with everyone in a new way!! I know some wanted to writing challenges, and while I'm not opposed, I think this may be a better way to engage that fits this space. Open to new ideas and feedback!

Everyone is open to participate, there is no sign ups required. I will be keeping a spreadsheet of all off-anon recs, submissions, and reblogs of the respective posts. If you do not wish to participate but still want to support this space, you can reach out privately through asks or messages and I'll take you off the list!

I'm going to be joining with Moon + Seraph to try and add as many words as possible in my manuscript. Check out the Words into Potions Intro post for more information and to join!

Now, about my project! I'll be continuing work on my epic fantasy, Captive Winter, and here's a little refresher for those of you who are new!

— Title: Captive Winter

— Genre: Fantasy

— Summary: Two families trying to save their people attempt to unite their houses through a royal marriage, but their plans are thrown into disarray when the priest tries to murder the northern princess. In the aftermath, the northern party is split: the princess and her fiance are sent north, to complete the marriage and find safety, while her injured mother is left in the southern capital, to face a world-changing conspiracy as well as the ghosts of her own past. The two acolytes who survived the attack are sent to serve the northern king as reparations for their crimes. Digory finds himself befriended by the ambassador, Nedra, whose mysterious past is only rivaled by the northern king's secret, the thing that caused him to send his twin sister to the south in the first place. Nettie ends up in a northern mining town, conscripted to join the hunstmen, who protect the mining town from threats unknown. As the two find their places in the new world, they uncover an ancient threat, not only to their new home, but to their entire world.

To celebrate Pisces season, this march I want to challenge myself by doing one thing that I love, every single day. It can be dancing to pop music, it can be finger-painting, it can be singing off-key or even reading 1 page from my favourite comic book. It does not have to be monumental, it does not have to be earth shattering or make money for me, it will just be something that lights me up! It will be something that I will do just for me and myself only.

"...Do you need a pad or tampon or something?"

Danny, Jason's roommate, blinks and sputters in confusion from where he sits on the floor in a pool of blood, "Wh-what??"

Jason pauses, wondering if he had been wrong about Danny wearing a binder around the dorm, but no. He and Danny had been roommates for a while and Jason knew a binder when he saw one. So, why is he... oh shit.

"Shit, are you bleeding out right now?" Jason fumbles to take off his jacket, trying to hurry into the dorm so he can help. "Just- wait a sec, I've got a first aid kit."

Danny only stares, a hand pressed tight to his ribs where he's either been cut or shot and shit, Jason needs to see it to know what he's working with. "I- you don't need to-" Danny tries to say as Jason settles in front of him, but Jason only sets down the kit and glares until his roommate moves his hands.

"Shit," Jason hisses as blood begins leaking out of what is clearly not a stab or gunshot wound but something fucking gruesome and... Holy shit, did someone torture him, what the fuck? Jason shakes off the thought, grabbing antiseptic and stitches and gauze—fuck this is gonna suck.

As he works, Danny sits still, practically lifeless, and if it weren't for the occasional hiss or flinch, Jason would think he'd completely disassociated. And if it weren't for the blood on his hands and the gasping body below him, Jason would probably already be out the door. Searching, hunting, killing whoever the fuck did this.

What Jason is stitching up right now isn't just typical Gotham street crime, isn't a stick-up gone wrong or a hit and run or a gang war, no. This is intentional, like being tied down in a crumbling building and beaten and broken and teased with the salvation of passing out. Jason would know.

He shakes his head, this isn't the same. Danny, sitting in front of him and breathing shakily, is alive. He's alive, and whoever did this won't be soon enough.

"Names. Give me their fucking names, Danny."
