The plan was always for you and Mary to get accepted into the same university, stay together forever, until she got her powers and hung back in your hometown. On the bright side, those powers did make it easier for her to come visit on short notice. Very short notice. “Y/N/N. Hey, out here.” You heard a muffled voice coming from outside your window. Your fourth story window.
“What the hell? Mary!” You rushed to let her in as she hovered in midair. “Someone could have seen you, why didn’t you just call me?” You asked, needlessly trying to help her inside.
“Well, I’m kinda in a rush.” She bared her teeth nervously and chuckled. “Billy needs me back in Philly and he won’t stop freaking out,” she continued on as you stared at her, “but I promise as soon as we wrap that up I’ll be right back here! He called me like, five minutes ago.” You crossed your arms and stayed silent, letting her risk a cheek kiss, and another, and another to ease your anger. Not at her, just the situation. “Please say something.”
“It’s fine, I know it’s what you do now.” You calmly replied, still lightly glaring at your girlfriend.
“You know I’d rather be here.” She frowned with soft eyes, begging you to forgive her.
“It’s not too late, Mary.” You leaned in to kiss her. “Please be back by ten at the latest. There’s no way we are missing that party.”

Billy Batson and the Super Sons Sleepover Party
Good evening, y'all. I am comfy in my bed with my plush frog from Build-A-Bear, and I got thinking. Man. I missed out on sleepover parties as a kid.
And then. Bam. Billy Batson ideas came popping in.
What if Billy Batson, pen pal/frenemy to Damian Wayne, was invited to a sleepover at his house after months of talking to each other through a school sponsored pen pal service? I think they'd be good friends, but also, imagine Billy not knowing Damian is Robin and meeting Jon Kent, Damian's other friend, at that sleepover at Damian's house.
Bruce and the batfam are happy that Damian is making normal friends who aren't involved in the superhero business.
Damian is glad to finally meet his pen pal/frenemy in person, and to talk all about animals with Billy. And also, prove Billy Batson wrong that Batman is better than Super man in a face-to-face argument.
And Jon is just happy to be there.
The hilarious shenanigans that could ensue from Billy being inside the Wayne manor, trying not to reveal his magical identity as Captain Marvel while also noticing a strange magical energy source in downtown Gothom...that may or may not be a malicious threat to everyone.
There's also the option of a scenario where Billy's identity as Captain Marvel is known to the league and Super boy and Robin are allowed over to Victor and Rosa's house for a sleepover with the shazamily.
Damian would easily get annoyed by Freddy, but also impressed by his collection of information on heroes and Eugene's technological intelligence. Super Boy and Darla would be fast friends, 100%. Pedro tried to lift more weights than Jon. Mary would be the responsible one in charge and make sure the others don't stay up too late or watch any horror movies. Billy sneaks in a horror movie.
And I am cackling at the thought of Dr. Sivana choosing this as the time to attack the city, now having to face the wrath of not only the shazamily, but also two sons of major superheroes in their pajamas, furious that their sleepover was ruined.

Freddy's Birthday Present [Dialogue idea for future comic]
(This takes place before world's finest comics)
Mary:"Hi Freddy, wow! Chocolate cake!? What's the special occasion?"
Freddy: "Oh, this cake?" *he holds the chocolate cake*
Freddy: "Today is My brother's Birthday, or at least, if he's still around.."
Mary:" oh I'm so sorry"
Freddy:" Don't be"
*Freddy places the chocolate cake on the table*
"I don't think he'd want me to be sad, so that's why I'm celebrating it with joy"
Freddy:" Do you want to help me set the candles?"
Mary: *mary smiles* "sure"
*next panels had Mary, Billy and Freddy Clapping their hands singing the last lyric of the song*
"Happy Birthday to you-"
*candles are suddenly blown*
*Billy, Mary and Freddy Looked at the window*
Billy:"huh, that's weird, I thought we shut the windows tight today?"
Freddy:" I'm sure it's nothing-"
*the cake is all finished by the time the three of them looked back at the table*
Freddy:" Mary! If you wanted to eat the whole chocolate cake, you could've just asked me to buy two cakes! " *freddy chuckles*
Mary is flustered:" As much as I wanted to, It wasn't me!"
Freddy: "could've fooled me"
Mary:" I did not!"
Freddy: "Did too"
Mary:" Did Not!"
Freddy: "Did too"
*As they both teased each other, a kid on top of the clouds laughed as he eats the chocolate cake*
Kid Eternity: "Thanks for the Cake brother!" *He smiled above the clouds*

Do you think Mary bromfield (the college age version one) and Jason Todd would make a good ship/pairing?? Someone I know mentioned it to me and I can't stop thinking about it now. Especially since in the webtoon, batman wayne family adventures, Jason is on a dating app looking for love, which is pretty funny
The crossover potential would be cool probably
In general my thoughts on shipping are that just about any ship can be good and interesting if done well.
So Jason and Mary? I can totally see it, especially New Champion of Shazam Mary and webtoon Jason. I think it would be cute if they met as college kids instead of heroes, bonding over classical literature and annoying siblings that they love and things like that. It might even be good for them to leave the hero baggage at the door for a bit.
Things would probably only get crazy when they tried to meet each other’s families or something. Then they'd have to connect their hero personas to their normal ones and drop lore on each other
Jason: I'm a former child vigilante who has been brought back from the dead and is now sometimes a crime lord
Mary: I was chosen to have the powers of six ancient gods by a wizard and now I'm a magical superhero who can shoot lightning from my hands
Jason: ...well at least we both have weird complicated backstories. It would have been awkward if only one of us did
Mary: yeah, I would've felt bad dragging you into all this, but now I think you can handle it
I think your friend might be on to something! They can be really cute together!

Just finished writing this little bit for the Captain Marvel family! Please tell me what you all think!
. . . . . . . . . .
Ages
Mary and Max: 16
Pedro: 15
Billy and Freddy: 14
Eugene: 11
Darla: 9
. . . . . . . . . . .
Ding dong.
Mary Bromfield looked away from the bathroom mirror at the closed door, still holding her pink hairbrush. Did she hear the doorbell, or was it her imagination?
Ding dong.
"I'll get it!" Mary yelled as she threw down her brush. She opened the door and started sprinting down the stairs.
Sitting on the couch engrossed in a computer game was her youngest foster brother, Eugene Choi. He was oblivious to the world around him thanks to his headphones. A gun could fire right next to him and he wouldn't bat an eye. That meant he wasn't a threat.
But he wasn't the only person in the house. There were others that she had to worry about.
Ding dong.
Mary pushed a strand of her brown hair behind her ear and took a deep breath. She opened the door.
Standing on the doorstep was who Mary thought was the most handsome boy in the entire world: Max Mardon. He had fluffy dark brown hair that curled behind his neck, a nice build from playing baseball, and a tender smile that was almost always on his face. What Mary most liked was his kind purple eyes.
"Hey Mary," Max greeted. "I brought you these." He handed her a bouquet of red roses.
"They're lovely," Mary said, blushing.
Mary heard more footsteps and grew tense, knowing what was coming next. A manicured hand gently patted her shoulder.
"Mi Vida, you didn't tell me that you had company coming over!" Rosa Vasquez, Mary's foster mom said.
More footsteps.
"Company?" Victor Vasquez, Mary's foster father asked. "Why don't you come in?"
"I don't want to intrude-" Max started.
"That's right, he doesn't." Mary interrupted.
Victor either didn't hear her or he ignored her because Max was inside the house before Mary could protest more.
"I'll make some tea." Rosa said with a smile, walking off to the kitchen. Victor made an "I'm watching you" motion at Max before following his wife.
Mary sat down on the sofa with a sigh. Max stood next to the couch, looking around the cluttered house. Eugene didn't even notice the movement around him.
"Sorry about the mess," Mary said. "We have a lot of people living here."
"I don't mind," Max smiled. "I actually find it charming. My mom doesn't let anything stay out of place."
"That's dumb." Freddy Freeman, another one of Mary's foster brothers said.
"Yeah, it kind of is." Billy Batson, the newest foster brother, agreed.
Mary glared at both of them. Freddy smiled innocently and leaned on his cane while Billy stuck his tongue out.
Boys, Mary thought with an eye roll.
"Mind if I ask you some questions?" Freddy asked.
"I-"
"Good." Freddy sat down on the armrest where Eugene sat playing his game. "Sit."
Max moved to sit next to Mary. Billy jumped in front of him and sat down on the sofa.
"Sorry, this seat's taken," Billy said, motioning to the open living chair. "You're welcome to sit there though."
Max shrugged and sat down.
"I'm sorry." Mary mouthed.
"It's fine." Max mouthed back, giving her a thumbs up.
"Oh, so you're throwing gang signs?" Freddy asked. "In a house with children present?"
Billy pointed at the archway where Darla Dudley stood watching everything while eating a banana.
"Don't you guys have something better to do? I mean, we don't need an interrogation." Mary said, crossing her arms.
"Mary, Mary, Mary," Freddy tutted. "If this was an interrogation we would be establishing background first."
"I stand corrected." Mary rolled her eyes. "C'mon Max, we're leaving."
Mary stood up just as her final foster brother, Pedro Peña, walked into the room.
"Oh, there you are Mary," Pedro said. He held up a notebook. "Can you help me with this equation real quick?"
Mary glanced at Max. He gave her an encouraging smile and started to do a thumbs up before looking at Freddy. He put his hand down.
"Sure Pedro, I can help." Mary said.
She walked up the stairs. Pedro started to go after her before turning around and giving the "okay" sign to Freddy. Freddy smirked, nodding.
"Oh, so he can do gang signs?" Max asked with a half-hearted laugh once Pedro was gone.
Neither Freddy nor Billy laughed. They just stared at him. Max wiped his sweaty hands on his jeans.
"Look, we're just going out for a movie," Max said. "I promise I won't hurt her."
"How do we know you can trust you?" Billy asked.
Max threw up his hands. "I don't know, you could trust Mary's judgment?"
"Please, when a female is in heat they rely on instinct, not thought." Freddy said.
"Dude." Billy gagged.
"Gross." Max added.
Freddy turned to Billy. "You're taking his side?"
"Well, yeah when you say stuff like that!" Billy yelled.
Mary popped her head out of the stairwell and quickly waved at Max. He glanced at the two bickering boys before running towards her. She grabbed his hand and ran out the front door.
"Sorry," she said. "They're... insane."
Max laughed, kissing her hand gently. Mary blushed.
"I love crazy," he said. "Now, let's go catch that movie."

Hello dear i just binged all your gremlin-trio-related asks bc i realized i missed some important ones and anyways i am wondering. What is the age difference between these guys in this au? Also, is this an unaging-billy au?
If I’m being real, Anon’s just kind of been dropping prompts for this AU on my doorstep. I have no thoughts for plot despite the brainrot.
The assumptions I’ve been operating on though are Gregory being 11-ish with the True or Van ending being a couple months back. He and Freddy road trip (with True ending version hotwiring the first van he lays eyes on) to get the fuck away from Utah as fast as possible. They get the fuck out of dodge. No plan.
Billy’s small form is 14 and he has two years of being Captain Marvel under his belt. Cap joined the Justice League last year but doesn’t get called for a lot of missions. They usually only get called in for all-hands-on-deck type situations and the rest of the time they’re protecting Fawcett and the Rock. For this trio I don’t imagine any Freddy Freemans, Mary Bromfields, Uncle Dudleys, Vasquez families, or the like in Billy’s life. It was just him, his headmates, the League, and the Wizard before these two show up in Fawcett.
Purpled is equivalent to 16 but he’s an alien. When asked what kind of alien he says, and I quote, “Your mom.” He has a remarkable grasp on earth’s pop culture and its legal systems for someone who crash landed here this year. He’s also stayed off the League’s radar for an incredible amount of time considering he crash landed and is working as a hired gun who gives no fucks. If he did not have to keep a clean identity to be able to walk in public with his fellow gremlins he probably wouldn’t use a code name or mask at all.
His dog’s also a little fucked up sometimes but Purpled’s 90% sure he came from a different dimension, so.
I realize now that I’ve finished typing this that these seem like a lot of thoughts. They are not. This is just things I accepted as correct for this AU and then didn’t even use. I have no actual thoughts, you’re carrying this AU, Anon.

My personal opinion is that 99% of fan content portraying Billy Batson as homeless after becoming Captain Marvel is similar to if 99% of Superman fan content portrayed Clark as never leaving Smallville, as active as Superman in the world and in the Justice League while still living in Smallville, and didn’t include aspects of his character specific to Metropolis like his job as a reporter or relationships with characters like Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and Lex Luthor.
Except for the fact that there is actually a significant amount of comics featuring Clark that take place in Smallville, there exists a good amount of canonical depiction of what his life was like while living in Smallville, and he has an established supporting cast of characters in Smallville. So you could conceivably imagine that AU and have some officially published comics to base it off of. The same cannot be said of the amount of depiction of Billy Batson as homeless after getting superpowers in officially published media.
The Pre-Crisis version of Billy Batson who was published by Fawcett Comics from 1940-1954 and by DC Comics from 1973-1985 was raised by his Uncle Ebenezer who abused and neglected him before abandoning him at the age of 10. Billy then spent several months homeless, surviving by selling newspapers, before he was chosen by the Wizard Shazam to become Captain Marvel. As a direct result of this, Billy is able to get a job at Whiz Radio and becomes an incredibly successful reporter and from that is able to afford housing. He gets his job in his very first appearance and it really cannot be overstated how important it was to his comics. Every issue featured Billy actively working as a reporter, they were joint child reporter and superhero comics, and he had a supporting cast of characters of people that he worked with at Whiz Radio.
The Post-Crisis version of Billy Batson who was published by DC Comics from 1986-2011 was raised by his loving birth parents who tragically died when Billy and Mary were 10 years old. After this, Mary was kidnapped and later adopted by the Bromfields. Billy was sent to live with his Uncle Ebenezer who soon abandoned him. Billy then spent several months homeless, surviving by selling newspapers, before he was chosen by the Wizard Shazam to become Captain Marvel. As a direct result of this, Billy is able to get a job at Whiz Radio and from that can afford an apartment, using his older Captain Marvel body to pay for it as well as attend parent-teacher conferences and the like to pretend as though he wasn't living on his own. After years of supporting himself, Billy reunites with Mary and is eventually adopted by the Bromfields as well, something he does solely to be able to live with Mary again. This is a difficult adjustment for Billy, from being independent for so long to having adult supervision, but with time he grows close with the Bromfields. While Billy's job was less important to his storylines, his independence and years of supporting himself were fundamental to his comics.
And the Post-New 52 version of Billy Batson who has been published by DC Comics since 2012 was raised in the foster care system, where he was frequently abused, causing him to run away multiple times, after which he experienced brief stints of homelessness before being taken back into the system. After these negative experiences, Billy is abrasive and has little interest in forming familal relationships with his foster familes. In his origin story, he is sent to a new foster family, the Vasquezes, who have 5 other foster children. While he initially does not want to stay in the Vasquez household, due to chance he is given superpowers that he can share with people he considers family. Billy has to learn to accept his foster siblings as his family in order for them all to work together to defeat Black Adam. By the end of his origin story, he is comfortable staying with his new foster family and no longer intends to run away. This version of Billy doesn't have a job, but him not being homeless and instead staying with the Vasquezes is very much fundamental to his character.
Billy Batson has been portrayed as homeless for a significant amount of time after getting powers exactly once in his 80+ year history- in the 2005 4 issue miniseries Superman/Shazam!: First Thunder. (If you’re not very familiar with Marvel Family/Shazam comics, this is the comic where the panels that have been spread pretty widely on Tumblr of Superman learning that Captain Marvel is Billy Batson, confronting the Wizard Shazam, and revealing his secret identity to Billy are from.)
This one single out-of-main-continuity miniseries does not compare to any of Billy's main continuity depictions. These 4 issues do not give readers an in-depth portrayal of what Billy's life was like as a homeless superhero or an extended supporting cast of characters that he interacts with while he lives that way to anywhere near the extent that any of the main continuity versions of Billy Batson with far far more than 4 appearances have an established on-panel portrayed life and supporting cast. Also noteworthy is that the only other superhero that Billy interacts with in this miniseries is Superman. This means that he has never been depicted as homeless when he's Captain Marvel or Shazam interacting with any other superhero or as being a member of the Justice League in any officially published media.
In my personal opinion, reimaging Billy Batson as homeless after getting superpowers erases the positive impact that becoming Captain Marvel or Shazam had on Billy's life, what the actual canonical depiction of his life was like after his story begins in favor of keeping the character stuck to where he was prior to his origin story, and necessitates ignoring almost all of his actual supporting characters. The whole concept is absurdly disconnected from Billy Batson's 80+ year history as a comic book character.

Misperception of Issues and Lack of Treatment Part 1: Mary Bromfield
Now that Young Justice has officially given us two fallen heroes, it is only natural that they have some fun analyzing them, and have found two common traits with both journeys away from the good side: the misperception of their issues leading to a lack of proper treatment. Let’s begin by looking at the case of Mary Bromfield.
Tumblr media
When we are introduced to Mary in the show, she is a 19-20 year old sensational of magic who used to be on the Team as Sergeant Marvel sometimes between the ages of 11-15 who is struggling to come to terms with no longer being a hero, as Zatanna pointed out, despite the time that has lapsed. Her magic utilizes a fraction of the powers she once has, invoking the same gods, but having to use lay-lines as conduits instead of Mary herself being the conductor, placing a buffer between her and what she once had. But as the arch advances, we see that lay-lines aren’t the only conductors she can use, and can also gain power by stealing it from other living beings: people, planets, animals. This is abused several occasions with the endangerment of teammates. Looking at face value, which is what everyone in cannon does, it looks as if she is too “attracted to power” and gives little required to the wellbeing of others so long as “The cost is worth the result”. Has Mary made some questionable decisions? Yes. But I believe that Mary isn’t power hungry, and is instead, attracted to feeling powerful, the confusion of which is getting in the way of her getting proper help.
Tumblr media
Every person has something physically, even if they haven’t found it yet, that they do or internalize that makes them feel powerful. Make up, nice clothes, jewelry, relieving clothes, modest attire, defined mussels, defined anatomy, androgymous appearance, really it can be anything to anyone. To Mary, it’s Sergeant Marvel. In episode 11 during the Fate induced mental tests while Mary is confronted with a vision of Sergeant Marvel, Serg. tells Mary, “this is what power looks like'' and that she is “beautiful” and “powerful.” Not strong, not magical, beautiful, a physical paragon of strength. Later when Granny Goodness recruits Mary as a Fury, she does so by playing into the idea that, as the SergMary has both “strength and grace,” prioritizing grace to power. Mary is not taunted with the prospect of regaining the form of Sergeant Marvel so that she can have stronger abilities and a closer connection to the gods with their power is drawn on, but rather so that she may be perceived by others as powerful, beautiful, and graceful.
Tumblr media
Here is the thing though. I bet Mary has been thinking for the past five years that one day, she may be able to regain how she once felt, Sergeant's strength and physical form. The super versions of the Marvel family all resemble some version of the kids when they are older. Both Mary and Billy, now that they are 20 are smaller, less muscular versions of their Marvel forms, and that must have only grown as they have, giving Mary hope that she may someday become the Sergeant naturally. But the Sergeant is supposed to be permanently frozen at 18, and Mary is over that age now, maybe by a few months depending on birthdates. I cannot imagine how crushed she must have been after passing that threshold of an achievable goal only to fall short. Greg spoke of Mary promising to stop using the form when she was younger, only to continue anyways, no matter how much she meant the promise the quiet, behavior similar to an addict. And addicts often develop tunnel vision to reach whatever their vice is. I believe this is where Mary’s “get the end result no other way” mentality. Zatanna in the training scene tells Mary that she needs to use more creativity in her powers, but why would Mary need creativity when she knows her end result. She has felt powerful at Sergeant Marvel for possibly five years, she’s been to point A and B, all she needs to do is say the word, little thinking required. Of course she only focuses on the end results of situations when the end result of her own internal struggle, that earning to become Marvel again, is so close to one way to get it now.
Tumblr media
But how do the others play into this? We know from the mental challenge in ep. 11 that Billy and Tommy both had interactions with Mary over her behavior, dream billy going so far as to ask Mary “how could you trade everything for power” which I am pursuing is a direct quote from that memory. Her brother and her new mentor both believe that the problem is one of simply wanting power and they treat it as such. Asking Mary to give up or control her inclinations. But the issue goes deeper than wanting power and is rooted in self loathing over being a powerless child that she perceives as worthless and unneeded. These thoughts can not be rid over by teaching better avenues to gain what you want, as Zatanna had tried to do, and rather require time to explore the source of this hatred, and the time and resources to come to terms with herself as she is. They are two very different conversations. And I truly believe that if others, particularly the elder heroes who had taken mentor roles both on the team five years ago and Zatanna had the second, that Mary would not be furious right now. But they looked deeper at the problem and, instead, took it at face value, leading to Mary spiraling down into such a vulnerability that Granny Goodness was able to manipulate her.
Tumblr media
Following a trend that will be continued on in part two. See you then, and tell me what you think.

WIP #18: Loose Ends Tied Up In A Bow "Holy moly..."
Billy Batson was a boy who had seen wonders beyond the minds and imaginations of man. From monsters to the mythical and magical, Billy was accustomed to the strange nature of the universe and participated in being an active part of it.
He'd been to the depths of hell and farthest corners of space, experiencing what many could only dream of as a superhero. However, nothing could ever beat the pure joy of a childlike sense of wonder when experiencing something new.
Nothing could beat a cool-looking train.
"Billy! If you stop staring at the train, you might be able to get on it with the rest of us this century." Billy's sister, Mary, shouted at him, with a drawn-out yawn from the check-in entrance. She may have sounded irritated, but she was just as excited for this trip as Billy, if not more. Neither of them had gotten any sleep last night, staying up late thinking about their first family vacation together. They'd planned all the things they'd do together and all the sights they would see, the only thing the both of them didn't plan for was sleep.
Mary was not unfamiliar with the age-old tradition of traveling for vacations with family, but for Billy, this would be his first time ever leaving Fawcett that wasn't related to Captain Marvel or Justice League business. This would be his first time just...relaxing, with his new family, the Bromfields.
Naturally, Billy was hesitant at first, but with Freddy promising to look after Fawcett in their absence, sorting out any potential problems with the League, and most of their major rogues locked up in prisons at the present, Billy was eventually convinced to take some time off. Billy believed he was bullied into it by Mary and Freddy, but he wasn't too upset about it in the end.
What could go wrong on a train anyway?
Stopping his admiration of the cool train in front of him, Billy gleefully sprinted back to his family. Mr. Bromfield ruffled his hair the moment he got close and reeled him into a side hug, trapping him in his arms.
"Aha! There we go, Nora, I think we're all here now. Our boy's not getting left behind like some cheesy "Home Alone" sequel. Lord knows we don't need more of those movies going around." Nick Bromfield chuckled. The dad humor was something Billy was trying to get used to.
"Oh, Nick. Let the poor boy go, his hair is all a mess now. Here, give him to me." Nora Bromfield coerced her husband into setting Billy free, but upon the taste of freedom, he was just met with another trap which was Nora Bromfield "fixing" his hair. She cupped his face and pushed his hair back with a comb, straightening it out. Billy once again struggled to escape the arms of a loving parent, but ultimately let Nora comb his hair in defeat.
He never knew having loving parents could be such a hassle.
Mary did, apparently, as Billy heard her laughing at his misery. His face flushed red over feeling so fussed over. Suddenly, Billy felt a devious little idea pop into his head.
"Uhh, hey, Mrs. B, I think Mary's hair needs some help, too. You know, the hair she's hiding under her hat because she didn't want to tell you her hair was bad today?"
"Oh! Thank you, Billy. I need to get on that. Mary! Come here, let me clean up your hair real quickly. No, a hat is no excuse to be lazy about your hair. Come here- no don't hide behind your brother! Remember, we're sleeping in the same cabin. You can't run from your mom!" Mary zig-zagged away from her mother's comb in her hands, glaring at Billy with an expression that could make Medusa shake. Clearly, neither of the twins liked being fussed over, almost like cats who hated baths. Billy couldn't help but laugh in return.
While Nick Bromfield sorted out the check-in line for them, Nora Bromfield got to embarrassing her kids in front of everyone else around the train station. Multi-tasking parents. You can't get any better than that.
The Bromfield family were so busy smiling and enjoying their time together, that none of them had even realized they were being watched by a pair of glaring eyes. Eyes that would follow them on the train soon after.

"I'll protect you" with Mary from Shazam! please?
Tumblr media
This was not how date night was supposed to go.
But of course, a group of armed robbers just had to crash into the restaurant and demand everyone on their knees and to hand over their valuables.
You watch worriedly as they inch closer to where you and Mary were crouched at your table, and she notices this, taking your hand.
“I’ll protect you.” Mary reassures, and you squint.
“If those are your last words before you do something incredibly stupid I’ll kill you myself, Bromfield.”
But she doesn’t seem to be listening as she just bites her lip.
“I didn’t want you to find out like this. Or so soon.”
“Mary, what are you-” You hiss as she suddenly stands, and one of the criminals threatens her to get down. “Mary-”
“Shazam!”
You gape when the smoke clears, and so does everyone else in the vicinity, including the robbers.
“What the f-”

Trick or Treat (PT 2)
Fandom: Shazam!
Pairing: Freddy Freeman/Fem!Reader
Summary: You were the Ice Queen of the school and you’re assigned to tutor Pedro Peña. Are you really what people have been saying you are? And what is going on between you and Freddy?
You jumped as a tray was placed on your table in the library. You looked up to see Freddy.
“What are you doing here,” you whispered.
“No one should have to eat lunch alone,” he said seriously, “so I figured I’d come here and eat.”
“What about Billy,” you asked.
“If you want, you can come to the cafeteria and sit with me and my family. If you would rather stay here then I’ll stay with you,” he said smiling at you.
You smiled brightly at him.
“Wow Ice Bitch smiles,” a girl a few tables over said loudly, “it’s freaking creepy.”
“Shhh,” the librarian warned.
You’re smile faded and you stood up grabbing your lunch bag, “Let’s go to the cafeteria.”
***
Over the next few weeks Freddy and his family took over your life. It wasn’t bad, it was just a 180 from your normal way of doing things.
Monday through Friday you tutored Pedro in their living room after school. Eventually, the whole family came in to help him during this time. All the support helped him catch on faster and he didn’t need to spend as much time studying.
At first that made you sad. However every time you made a move to leave, someone would kidnap you to do something else. You played dress up and dolls with Darla; played video games with the boys; and gossiped with Mary.
More often than not you stayed for dinner too. You quickly became another member of the family.
At school Freddy and Billy started walking with you to classes, and you sat with the family at lunch. The gossip mill was up and running with word that the ice queen was melting. That part didn’t bother you. What did bother you was a creeping fear that you would eventually wear your welcome out with these people you’d grown to love, and you’d be alone again.
Freddy was the only one to notice you start to seem sad and distant again. He wanted to talk to you about it, but when you two were alone he kept getting tongue tied.
It was because of this and his worry for you that had him finding himself knocking on Mary’s door.
“Hey Freddy, come in, what’s wrong,” she asked concerned.
“Can you talk to Y/N,” he asked suddenly, “she’s really sad and I don’t know why. I want to fix it but I can’t if I don’t know and I can’t talk to her because when I do my tongue swells and my palms sweat and I feel as smart as a freaking caveman and -“
“Freddy, breathe,” Mary said smiling.
Freddy took a breath and sat on her bed.
“Looks like that crush has gotten worse,” she teased.
“Crush? I’m in love with her,” he said honestly without even thinking.
Mary gaped at him. She wasn’t expecting that to come out of his mouth. It surprised him even more that he didn’t backtrack. He must really love you.
“I’ll talk to her,” she promised.
Freddy sighed, relieved, “Thank you.”
***
“Y/N! Y/N,” Darla said jumping up and down excitedly when you came through the door, “can you take us trick or treating, please? Freddy said he’d take me and Eugene this year but I really want you to come to, please?”
You smiled at her enthusiasm and pretended to think about it.
“Can I still wear a costume even though I’m not trick or treating,” you finally asked.
“YAY,” Darla squealed as she jumped up and hugged you.
“Hey, Darla I need Y/N” Mary called from the top of the stairs.
“Be here, October 31st at 5pm sharp,” Darla whispered before she skipped off.
“Will do,” you laughed as you headed up to Mary’s room.
You shut the door and walked over to Mary’s bed and sat down.
“Is everything okay,” you asked a little nervously.
It was Saturday and you had planned to just hang out in your room and read when Mary had called and said she needed to talk in person.
“I’ve noticed,” Mary said carefully, “that you’ve been seeming a little worried or bothered lately. Is everything okay?”
“Umm,” you stalled as you played with the hem of your shirt, “Yea, Yea I’m good.”
“Y/N,” Mary said in a warning tone.
“It’s nothing, it’s stupid,” you said as you looked at her, fear in your eyes.
Mary walked over to sit on her bed with you.
“I know we haven’t been friends for long, but you can talk to me,” she encouraged.
“For how long,” you said sadly, “how long until I get too annoying or too clingy.”
“What are you talking about,” she asked confused.
“I’m over here like 6 days a week. We hang out in school,” you said like the problem was obvious.
“So,” Mary asked.
“So when are you guys going to have enough and I won’t be welcome here anymore and then I’ll have to go back and eat in the library by myself again,” you said tears spilling over onto your cheeks.
Your hands were formed into fists and digging into your legs. A panic attack was coming on fast and strong. You’ve never had one in front of another person and it was making your anxiety even worse.
“I know I’m too much,” you said through gritted teeth as you tried to control your breathing.
“Y/N, breathe,” Mary said calmly as she got on her knees in front of you.
She calmly helped you through your attack.
“You’re not too much. Whoever has you believing that you’re too much is an idiot,” she said sincerely as you calmed down.
“My old friends,” you said softly.
“What,” she said surprised.
“I used to have a group of friends,” you explained, “but they said I was too much. I’ve been through a lot, but I’m lucky compared to most. I don’t know my dad...my mom was in my life but she straight up told me to my face she didn’t like me that I look too much like my dad and I’m not fun and she left. A lot of people feel bad that my grandparents got stuck with me so I’ve tried so hard to not cause trouble and to make good grades so they don’t have to worry about me. I’m always too much.”
“Look at me,” Mary said seriously, “you will never be too much for this family. Ever. You’re stuck with us...and I promise you you won’t ever have to eat in the library alone again unless you want to.”
“Are you sure,” you asked still unsure.
“Trust me,” she said her eyes glittering playfully, “especially if Freddy has anything to say about it”
You immediately felt your whole body turn red.
“Oh my gosh you like him,” Mary said in happy shock.
“Shhh,” you said standing up and walking to her door.
You opened it and looked around cautiously before feeling safe enough to close it.
“I know what you’re wearing for Halloween,” Mary said suddenly, “let’s go!”
“Where are we going,” you asked as she pulled you out the door.
“To get your costume.”
***
*Halloween Night 4:45pm*
“Mary, why am I wearing this,” Freddy asked feeling slightly uncomfortable, “I mean I love The Dark Knight and all but I was going to be Superman.”
“Just trust me, okay,” she said with a knowing smile, “Now I’ve got a party to get to, Y/N should be here in about 15 minutes.”
“Wait! Y/N is coming,” Freddy called after her in a panic.
“I asked her to take us,” Darla said happily, “with you too of course.”
“Oh great so I’m in costume and she’s going to be normal because we’re just waking you guys and I’m going to look like a total d-“
“THAT’S Y/N,” Darla cried as she ran towards the door you had just knocked on.
Freddy nervously adjusted his Batman mask and tried desperately to think of someway to look cool in front of you. He stopped short when he saw you come in. You were dressed in a short, tight Wonder Woman costume complete with a lasso of truth.
“Looking good Batsy,” you said as you saw Freddy in his costume.
“You look incredible,” he said without thinking.
You wished Wonder Woman had a face mask like Batman, because if she did he wouldn’t be able to see how red she turned at his compliment.
“If you two are done flirting I’d love to get some candy,” Eugene interrupted.
“Okay let’s go,” you laughed.
***
The first few houses you took them to were decorated on the scary side. Darla got nervous and Eugene started to tease her.
“Darla,” you said crouching to her level, “Halloween is a special night. It’s when we can be anyone we want and we can face our fears and laugh at them.”
“We can,” she asked amazed.
Freddy watched you with a completely lovestruck face as you calmed Darla down with ease.
Later on, you went to turn down a particular street and Freddy stopped you.
“There are some extreme houses that way, Darla won’t go down this street,” he said quietly.
“Let’s go,” Darla said puffing out her chest bravely, “Halloween is a night where we can laugh at our fears!”
She marched down the street and Eugene quickly followed. You were shocked at how brave Darla became because some of the houses freaked you out. One house had things popping out of their yard that caused you to jump. You grabbed Freddy’s arm on instinct and he leaned in close to you.
“Check out Eugene,” he whispered.
You shivered, and it wasn’t from the cold. When you looked at Eugene you noticed that he looked more than nervous.
The yard the four of you approached had strobes, smoke, and creepy music blaring. They also had life sized statues of Michael Myers, Jason Vorhees, Ghostface, and Freddy Krueger. Darla went up without fear while Eugene inched up the driveway cautiously.
You saw movement out of the corner of your eye. As you watched carefully your eyes widened at the realization that these weren’t statues...these were real people in costume. They stood stock still and every few moments they would move ever so slightly. When Eugene and Darla reached the end of the driveway Freddy and Ghostface jumped at them.
Eugene screamed and ran behind you and Freddy. Darla just laughed and skipped to the next house.
It would’ve been amusing if that were the end of it.
It wasn’t.
Freddy Krueger followed you four for 6 houses. At first you and Freddy used this opportunity to tease Eugene. You both sang, “1,2 Freddy’s coming for you...”
Eventually you noticed that Eugene was on the verge of a panic attack. That stopped you in your tracks. You turned around and faced Freddy Krueger.
“Hey it was funny, but your really freaking my friend out,” you said seriously, “can you please go back to the house you were scaring at?”
“I’m sorry,” came a deep voice behind the mask, “I’m honestly not trying to scare you guys. You’re gorgeous and I’ve been trying to work up the nerve to get your number.”
Freddy turned his back on you and the horror legend. He’d been trying to work up the nerve to ask you out for weeks now, and here he was being shown up - by another Freddy no less.
“I’m really flattered,” you said honestly, “but I’m in love with another Freddy.”
Krueger sighed and put his head down, “Fair enough, at least I tried. Sorry kid for scaring you!”
You turned around to face Freddy, your Freddy, not even registering what you said within earshot of him.
As was his habit around you, words spilled out of his mouth without him even thinking about it.
“What Freddy are you in love with,” he asked hopefully, “Highmore? Mercury? Prince Jr.?”
You took a deep breath, screwing up your courage you walked over to him. When you were inches from his face you said, “Freeman.”
You looked at him with your infamous Ice Queen face. You didn’t want him to see how desperate you were to kiss him. You didn’t want him to do anything out of pity.
It took Freddy all of thirty seconds to crash his lips onto yours. Your breath was taken away. For a first kiss it lasted longer and held more passion than you could’ve imagined. Freddy was an incredible kisser.
Freddy pouted as the need for air made him stop kissing you. He gently put his forehead to yours and asked, “Will you be my girlfriend?”
“Definitely,” you said enthusiastically, “especially if it means we can do that more!”
Freddy chuckled, “We can do that whenever you want...all the time even.”
You giggled and then your giggle turned into full blown laughter. He found himself smiling at you in spite of himself.
“What’s so funny,” he asked.
“I told you Batman and Wonder Woman were a thing,” you said as you pointed to your outfits.
“Okay this was cool and all, but let’s get candy,” Eugene interrupted.
Darla sighed dreamily, “Don’t interrupt their moment!”
“It’s okay let’s get back to trick or treating,” Freddy said to them before whispering to you, “sooner they’re tired out the sooner we can get home and makeout to a scary movie.”
“I love the way you think, Batsy,” you teased.
“There’s no way I can get you to change my nickname to Supes is there,” he teased back.
“Not if you want to make out with this Wonder Woman,” you said half joking.
“I am Batman,” he said instantly in his grittiest voice.

Do you have any holiday or Christmas headcanons for Captain Marvel?
Thanks so much for the ask anon!
I headcanon that Billy/Cap doesn't do much to celebrate the holiday season (at least at the beginning) because it's a reminder that he doesn't have a family to spend it with. But as they get more friends and family to spend it with, they get more into it. I headcanon that Mary and the Bromfields love Christmas so much, throwing huge elaborate parties and going all out with decorations and presents. Billy's a bit overwhelmed at first, but seeing how happy Mary is when they pull him into their family traditions helps him get into the Christmas spirit.
Captain Marvel is always helping out the community and I can totally see him teaming up with a local toy drive and donning a santa hat to deliver toys to sick and/or underprivileged kids in Fawcett.
Cap is also the type to volunteer for Monitor Duty shifts on Christmas day simply because he wants everyone else to enjoy their holiday.
One tradition I think Billy would enjoy is seeing the Christmas lights! Both as Billy and as Cap he would wander around town to get a look at all the best decorations.
To me Billy is the type to be very careful with his money so he's hesitant to spend a lot on presents. Instead he tends to make gifts for others so they are personal/sentimental. In return he prefers simple and practical gifts over anything fancy.
Bonus: since I headcanon Freddy as Jewish, I like to imagine that he digs out his grandpa's menorah each year so that he and Billy (and later Mary) could spend the week of Hanukkah together gifting each other small things like candy and socks if they had the money. it's all very laid back (especially in contrast to Christmas Day at the Bromfields)
Thank you again for this ask, it was so fun to think about! I would love to hear if anyone else has any holiday headcanons they would like to share 💜
