HL characters as cars, because I say so

I'm still deeply absorbed and dwelling in my modern AU. And being me, I've naturally put a lot of thought into the cars that the HL characters and my OC's would represent/ drive.

Here is a brief summary of my thoughts under the cut. Don't worry it won't be technical 😅

Sebastian Sallow – black Audi 100 C3 (1990)

Old soul, loud engine, no filter – emotionally or mechanically.

Drives like he’s running from his past (he is)

only plays old 80ties soundtracks

The 5-cylinder roars louder than his internal monologue

No modern safety features. No catalytic converter! Just pure steel and spite.

“I’m not speeding, I’m escaping consequences.”

Poppy Sweeting – mint green VW New Beetle 1.6 (2005)

Soft "girl" car but will absolutely ram a poacher off the road.

Backseat contains at least one magical creature at all times

Has flower stickers and tire tread from chasing poachers

Her bumper stickers are slightly threatening moral lessons

“Please buckle up, we're going off-road. And don’t scare the Niffler on the backseat.”

Garreth Weasley – orange Ford Focus ST Mk2 (2008)

Too fast, too furious, too many modifications.

One Word: Tuning!

Installed a brewing rack in the trunk. It exploded once.

Spoiler is handmade. (It wobbles.)

Faster than your insecurities.

Insults your driving while overtaking you

The gas pedal is an emotional outlet

Blink and you’ll miss her. Yellow was just a suggestion.

Ominis Gaunt – silver Mercedes-Benz C180 Elegance W202 (1995)

Drives like a gentleman. Judges like a Gaunt.

The interior smells like old money and better judgement.

Flawless maintenance record.

Blind, but still drives better than you (let's assume he find a magical workaround)

Looks like a curse. Sounds like vengeance. Drives like a prophecy.

Custom rune-engraved rims.

Doors open upwards for drama.

She doesn’t parallel park. The world rearranges itself.

The fairies:

A group of self-proclaimed researchers that established themselves inside the ruins of the dragon keep. Fairies collect and gather knowledge from all around the world and provide guidance to those who need it.

Fairies are pathologically honest and will always speak their mind, but they are also very protective of the information they gather, only sharing what is essential to make their point. Fairies tend to be perceived as callous and manipulative and most people see these creatures with mistrust and superstition. Very little is known about their species and only 6 fairies have ever been observed in Narkaas.

Morgan the Sky fairy (they/them) The purple fairy is deeply introverted, resulting in very sparse appearances compared to their peers. They are both a dreamer and a cynic, preferring the refuge of fairytales and music to any kind of social interaction. They can be found in very high places, such as mountains or the top of buildings, but will only engage with people they find interesting enough. They are the first person that Lady encounters on her journey and appear to have a particular interest in her quest.

Fomore the Tears fairy (she/her) The blue fairy is known to appear before those who are dying or grieving. She is a brooding and gloomy individual, with a fascination for the tragic and morbid. She can be found most often in graveyards, especially those in proximity to water. She spends most of her time reading, dancing, and quietly enjoys the sounds of the sea and rain.

Loki the Wild Fairy (any/all) A free and untamed spirit by nature, the green fairy's appearances are common but unpredictable. Loki enjoys meeting new people and tending to their plants. They tend to get into long rambles about whatever interests them at the moment and often get distracted. Loki is a fan of any place with plants and can often be found tending to the plants of any old forest or garden.

Agni the flame fairy (she/her) The red fairy appears to those who pursue progress or change. She has a fierce and hard-working temper and is most often found near any kind of machinery, working to either build or repair experimental devices. She is kind but tough and judgemental, having little patience for fools and cowards.

Baal the Heart fairy (he/him) The yellow fairy appears to those seeking love or joy. Baal hangs around public places, offering romantic advice and fresh baked goods to those he meets. He is known as a hedonist and a tempter, luring people to indulge in self-gratifying vices. Despite his sweet and caring exterior, Baal is known to get very petty and toxic toward those who upset him.

Yami the Light fairy (they/them) By far the most recluse and elusive fairy. The grey fairy only appears to those who settle on a long and dangerous quest for forbidden knowledge. They spend most of their days meditating in dark and quiet places, away from any civilization.

Been fun seeing NPCs who are trans! Maevaris obviously, but also people like Governor Ivenci using they/them pronouns and Tarquin having a missable conversation about "Wanting to live as a man". I wonder if I missed any too!

so... apparently I've been writing Sammelweis' name wrong the entire time. It's Semmelweis, just like the doctor Ignaz Semmelweis.

I do wonder if she's going to have a heavy-handed reference to the real-life Semmelweis. Look him up, his story and role in the founding of antisepsis practices is incredibly interesting if you're into medical history like me.

The deity Dolodea from my homebrew D&D campaign! They're the deity of Joy, Laughter, Entertainment and Playfulness. He takes the form of a clown and travels with a circus to bring joy and laughter to the places they all travel to. (They go by Doodle when not addressed as a deity! because I am a freak I'm imagining antwan spending more time with nigel on the 'puter and ordering lots of takeout and snacking a lot and getting chubbier irl. then maybe he enters the video game with futuristic VR (david jenkins school of fetish fantasy world), and his avatar is him when he's skinny, but nigel frowns and takes him to the character creation screen and increases antwan's width to make him chubby (maybe even fatter than he is irl) and then smiles and goes "there! much better!!" and antwan is so fucking confused and hard

I imagine that Antwan would actually have a sort of ultra buff avatar like the one at the end of the movie already premade and ready to import into any VR game, but Nigel has gotten to know him well enough to know he's never quite looked like that, and with the way he's been eating (and the way Nigel has been not-so-subtly encouraging him to keep eating), it's not even close now

Nigel absolutely makes his VR character even fatter than he is IRL on purpose methinks. He's gonna look like that eventually anyway, after all >:3

(also cuz a little mutual gaining never hurt anyone, maybe Nigel finds a way to play with his own code/character model to increase his weight every once and a while. maybe not quite as fast or as big as Antwan, but just enough to feel included and to give his boyfriend the same pleasure of a little more to love that he's getting <3)
