EVIL MARK, EVIL MARK, EVIL MARK!!! I want to be coherent about this season but please picture me foaming at the mouth and running on the walls. S2 being what if Mark's just like his Dad? Insanity. I love this show. Anyways, AU where an Evil!Mark tries to make Our!Mark worse, and Our!Mark tries to make the other better. Something something confronting your idea of the worst version of oneself. Plus, tweaked black and yellow costume because I saw it and immediately went murder hornet lookin' ass and knew I had to draw it. Evil ass Mark. Horrible. I think he should be dragged kicking and screaming into redemption.
#mark and the fact he is fighting for this fucking life to avoid the Many Bad Endings???? im pacing. getting out the red string.#when the season is about who you are and what you could become. when trying to be good is an active choice and a struggle.#RAHHHHHHHHHHH#chewing on the bars of my enclosure...when every mark is evil OUR mark is the outlier. the exception. the OTHER. RAHHHH#dog poetry being mark poetry because how often can you kick a dog before it starts snarling before you raise your hand?#how often can you beat it before it rips into you without mercy? when it bites not at your hand but at your neck?#when does violence for survival and violence for vengeance start and end? when your opponent is down and you keep drawing blood?#circling and pacing and losing my mind over this btw if you care#anyways self vs self gets me going crazy. did you know i loved the end of atsv? because it shows.#i think o!mark would lose his fucking mind at what evil wasp looking mark has done + this mf wasp would LOATHE mark's kindness#they both see the other as the WORST version of themselves and they can't stand it. They can't shatter the mirror but they think they can--#--change the reflection.#evil mark seeing mark and seeing what he USED to be#mark seeing what he COULD be#CAN U SEE THE VISION??????#digital art#invincible rotating in my mind#invincible fanart#fanart#mark my beloved#mark grayson fanart#mark grayson#invincible s2#invincible show#mark like hello this is my secret twin and he is NOTHING like me hahahaha anyways wanna debate about having mORALS and LIFE#mark grayson vs the urge not to accept every responsibility as his own#he's batman coded that way#ok im done yapping#if this happened in the comics in any way shape or form dont tell me JACK SHIT or i will PUMMEL YOU with my SHOES

Writing Notes: Morally Grey Characters
Tumblr media
Morally grey characters - operate beyond the dichotomy of good versus evil.
These characters will usually make the choice to pursue their own ambitions over those of the greater good or evil.
Because their goals are removed from these qualities, they could be inherently good or bad, so long as they serve the character's ultimate purposes.
However, that’s not to say that morally grey characters don’t aim to make the world better (or worse) in some way.
They may have a larger goal that they’re striving to achieve.
Example: Immortality for all or taking down a corrupt government.
But this doesn’t necessarily mean morally grey characters won’t see others suffer, regardless of intent.
They are often described as being reserved and unfeeling—a dramatic outward expression for characters whose inner selves are anything but, yet appropriate to exemplify the secrets they keep locked away.
The beauty of morally grey characters is that they don't fit into a mold like many other character tropes, which makes them instantly feel more real.
Tips to Writing Morally Grey Characters
Your morally grey characters should still feel like a living, breathing person and not just a caricature of one. In order to realistically portray them, there are 4 important things to consider:
1. What is your morally grey character's life's mission?
This needs to become their guiding belief, their driving force.
These characters are very goal-oriented.
More than anything else, this is why they make the choices that they do, for better or worse.
2. How far are they willing to go to achieve their goals?
They are unique in that they are capable of making hard decisions that most of us might otherwise struggle with, and they often seem to do so with ease.
What matters is achieving their goals—not necessarily how they go about doing so.
3. They need to still have a system of core values to abide by.
Even morally grey characters have an internally consistent scale of, well, morality (albeit on their own terms).
Give your character a code to live by that even they wouldn’t break.
4. What is their role in your story?
Don’t create morally grey characters just for the sake of it.
Whether their storyline is part of the main plot, or whether they have subplots that influence the overall story, there needs to be a point to it all regardless.
Morally Grey Character or Villain?
What may differentiate a morally grey character from a true villain are the following 3 things.
Recognition: Your morally grey character should recognize that their choices can cause harm, intentionally or otherwise.
Remorse: Following that recognition, and often as a result of it, they must understand and experience remorse.
Redemption: Finally, when even they feel things have gone too far, your morally grey character must seek redemption however that manifests itself in your story.

please consider: Galahad always carrying around rosary beads/prayer beads that carry the image of Merlin, The Hanged Man in the style of a saint or of a crucifix. Also he handmade the entire thing of beads btw.

"All that pain, that misery, that loneliness, and it just made him kind." - Amy Pond, Doctor Who, season 5, episode 2, "The Beast Below" written by Steven Moffat
Pain sits on a chest too frail to lift it, its mouth split by teeth. it digs curved claws into sinew and bone and untwists nerves where they lie blank in its hands. Misery, hollow cheeked and hollowed bare, keeps its stomach concave, starving for company. A rattle in your lungs. Weeping sores on your skin.
What are you thinking? What are you feeling?
It hurts.
What are you thinking? What are you learning?
Make for me a map of the starving thing shredding your muscles. Hold open the puncture wounds, and pull out the claws.
Or else leave them in and let them fester. Watch your skin go blue and yellow, watch the flesh swell where they lay buried somewhere deep inside of you. Feel your tongue grow heavy and drop down your esophagus. Won't you lift your head?
Pain pulls from your head every thought before it's formed. Pain threads a needle from the spool of your words and stitches closed your lips. Tiny, and neat, a surgeon's touch. Pain takes your hands and holds them, fast and steady. Let me teach you, it says, and presses its splintering bones into the skin of your back.
What are you feeling? What are you learning?
It hurts.
-oh, my darling. pain doesn't have anything to teach. it just hurts.

“They met again after years” prompts:
You’re married?
You’re even more beautiful than I’ve remembered.
You’ve waited for me this whole time?
Look at you! You’re so big now.
“You turned out alright.” “Not thanks to you.”
Do you like what you see?
You look just like her.
I have the letters you wrote me.
Do you remember how tangled we got in our feelings?
I still wear the smile you gave me.
I was gonna marry you…
Where have you been all this time?
Why didn’t you call? Even once?
You have a daughter?
You got married?
I missed you.
My oh my, how does time fly.
“I’m stronger now.” “I see.”
Do you like what you’ve become?
I was gonna ask you to marry me.
You left without a word of explanation.
“I’m not a child anymore.” “I can see that.”

The Astrology of: Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar is one of the most important and thought-provoking artists in the Hip-Hop genre. Born on June 17th, 1987, he would experience the harsh circumstances that Compton, California had to offer—usually gang violence, shootings, and racial struggles—and this had a profound effect on him and his perspective on the world. To cope with his environment, Lamar expressed himself through poetry and rapping, being inspired by Tupac Shakur - this also kept him away from “gang life”. Lamar’s music/albums reflect on heavy topics—spirituality, morality, and of course, racial injustice—while still being accessible (at times) to the mainstream.
Tumblr media
No real confirmation on a birth time, so I’ll just focus on some of his aspects and placements.
Tumblr media
- Mercury conjunct Mars: Aspects between these two planets are commonly found in Rapper’s charts. Mercury is supported by Mars through passionate speech and messages. You can come off as strong and loud, even if you don’t intend to. People with this aspect can also use their words as a weapon (see: beef with Drake).
- Sun in Gemini - Moon in Pisces Combination: The Sun is how we express our pride and autonomy. Gemini is an energy that deals with interaction and information, so people with a Gemini Sun like to communicate and get a reaction out of others. They can express themselves through comedy, literature, and Rapping.
Pisces Moons find emotional comfort through isolation, day-dreaming, and art, since Pisces energy deals with everything that is non-physical and imaginative.
This combo can explain why Kendrick is so creative in the medium(s) of hip-hop and poetry. Kanye West also has this combination in his chart, and he is seen as someone who likes to think outside-of-the-box when it comes to creating music - and everything else he does.
- Moon trine Mercury: The Moon—how we try to find emotional comfort—is being supported by Mercury. Lamar expresses himself through written word and poetry. Rapping is also an avenue that he can articulate his emotions and ideas in.
- Moon square Saturn: Due to growing up in harsh environments, Lamar was depressed. When the Moon is squared to Saturn we feel suppression of emotional connections in your earlier years. Lamar is also known to be quite reserved and private - he took a 5 year break from music.
- Jupiter in Aries: Jupiter expands anything it touches, while Aries is an energy of confidence, self-protection, anger, individuation, vitality, motivation, and fighting. Kendrick likes to challenge others and isn’t afraid to fight back: in 2013, his “Control” verse electrified the Hip-Hop community when he declared that he wanted to beat-out every other successful Rapper at the time; his verse on “Like That” revitalized diss-tracks this year; he just humiliated Drake in a series of diss-tracks.
Sun sextile Jupiter shows that he has an abundant amount of ego and self-confidence in himself - which is why he calls himself the goat.

I’ve seen a lot of posts about people being upset with people who self ship or write fan content about Homelander supposedly “defending Homelander’s actions.” When tbh in reality I’ve seen nobody actually defending Homelander. Instead it’s a lot of imagining what things would be like if he had healthy/stable supports in his life and also a lot of “yes he’s repugnant and yes I lust after him carnally.”
Just I have no clue what some people in the tags are on about with their hatred of fans in the community.
they're inventing a narrative that makes the most sense to them. they hate Homelander and everything he represents, and in their mind, anyone whose opinion differs is The Enemy. fictional depiction = real life endorsement, right? that's the puritanical brainwashing invading fandom spaces. if you like a character, you MUST be cosigning their actions.
we can no longer explore or empathize with characters who exhibit harmful beliefs and behaviors without explicitly condoning those behaviors. you may only empathize with characters who are flawed in Good and Acceptable ways. no uncomfortable or ugly trauma responses allowed.
most people who feel the need to attack or post hate in character tags are just looking for people who will rally with them. they're looking for a sense of community and people who will validate and support their outrage over people who dare to like a character they despise. it's the same thing that motivates us to find people who LIKE what we like... but the evil version lol they want to chase that sense of "winning" at fandom by being the Most Correct and Morally Superior enjoyer of media.
i got a really interesting ask a while back from an anon who came snooping in the tag to see what Homelander fans were really about... and ended up having a surprisingly reasonable reaction to what they found.
because you're right! the majority of us do not excuse or dismiss anything Homelander has done. a huge part of the appeal IS how fucked up he is. the horrible things he's done. because the reality is that Homelander can't actually hurt anyone. writing about him is not hurting anyone. we're just playin around in the sandbox that is narrative exploration.
it's okay to just like or dislike characters without moralizing your media consumption. i promise.

i am a HUGE sucker for “peter looks in the mirror one day and all he can see is uncle ben” but i am also a sucker for every other swap-in you can make. (mini fanfics below the cut, with many self indulgent headcanons LMAO)
miles is talking with his dad one night after everything calms down. the conversation is light, easy, but his dad goes quiet suddenly. his dad looks at him, and miles has never seen him so quiet. his eyes go misty, and miles is scared something happened for a moment. but his dad just sets a hand in his shoulder and says, “you look like your uncle.” miles cries in his dads arms that night.
gwen is talking with her dad over breakfast, and something slips out of her mouth. she recognizes the sentence, why she has it in her head, but she doesn’t know from where. her dad freezes, before turning to look at her. his eyes soften, but his face and shirt are painted and streaked in blue and grey. “you sound just like her.” he doesn’t give gwen time to ask who, before he turns back to his eggs.
peni never knew her mother. she died while giving birth to her, so her father raised her, then her aunt and uncle after he…yeah. peni doesn’t know much about her either, just that she was smart, and her dad thought she was pretty. peni’s going through her dad’s stuff one night, when she pulls up a picture of her. peni finds that her reflection matches up perfectly.
hobie doesn’t have many memories of their parents, no photos either. it’s fine, they dont miss them much, and they figure they dont look much like them either. they have one thing that ties them back to that little apartment in old york. it’s a picture, old and faded, of their brother. as the picture gets more worn, the only thing that hobie can see is their brother’s face. it might as well just be a picture of themselves.
jess loves her mother. more than anything on earth (besides her baby). she’s been there throughout her pregnancy, she was there when her captain stacy died, and she was there when her husband did too. it was the first time jess ever saw her mother cry, and she finds out that tears make people look a lot alike.
noir doesn’t look like uncle ben. the thought used to make him angry. why am i never good enough?! then it depressed him. why am i never good enough…? but he slips his glasses on one morning, and his hair folds and curls down on his forehead and sticks up at his neck. he ties his tie, and looks in the mirror. he finds himself wondering, how long can you look in the mirror before you start looking like your father?
miguel doesn’t have a father. at least not anymore. george o’hara died a long time ago, and tyler stone…well, why would he want anything to do with him? miguel rages at himself everytime he thinks about him—not stone, but the man who raised him. george’s been dead for years, why can’t you just get over it?! but years of blood and fear don’t just disappear because a stone gets plunked in the ground. miguel tears up the last photo he has of george, and goes to splash water on his face. he looks in the mirror, and he sees himself. miguel looks nothing like his father, and he finds himself thinking that’s a good thing.
