once again pushing my freygana agenda,, but this time they are Evil >:)
morgana heard freya call herself a monster and morgana knows that feeling better than anyone and just goes “no, ur not a monster. you were given a gift that everyone has made you believe is a curse. u cant just roll over and let them win, u bear ur teeth and claws and tear them to shreds.” morgana helping freya hunt down the sorceress who spelled her and cornering her just as the moon reaches its peak.
“you said i was cursed to kill forevermore” freya stands tall as she glares at the woman who blamed her for her own sons actions “you’ll get what you asked for” morgana watching as the pretty girl shifts into a large beast and pounces of the older woman clawing her and tearing her to shreds. bastet!freya turns to morgana, blood dripping from her maw and her teeth bared
morgana calls out praises and comforts, reaching out her hand and letting her magic seep the air between them. bastet!freya investigating before ceasing her snarling and butting her head up against morgana’s hand
morgana, high priestess of the old religion and freya, a beast of the night. morgana and her scary dog feline privileges. morgana with magic crackling between her fingers and the group of knights who finally have her cornered and think they can win this fight then BOOM torn to shreds by her kitty gf
bastet!freya curling around morgana and purring to her hearts content which keeps morgana from falling asleep as she keeps watch, magic pulsing beneath her skin as she looks out for any monster hunters that wish to take her gf away
plus. i mean. come on. a witch and her black cat? a match made in heaven if you ask me

1: Magic is a Metaphor < 2: Morgana is a Lesbian < 3: Merlin is Gay > 4: Arthur is Bi
Tumblr media
Again with the whole metaphor thing, Merlin's entire character is about having to hide his identity and wishing that he could be free to be himself so that he wouldn't have to lie about how much Arthur means to him. So that's all very gay, but he's also just very queer-coded generally. There are so many jokes about him being more effeminate or wearing women's clothing, most notably in this episode where he dresses in full drag and then takes the opportunity to shamelessly flirt with Arthur. Unhinged.
Basically every other character seems to just assume that he's gay, at least towards the end, because Gaius and Arthur are in utter disbelief that Merlin would be 'seeing a girl'. And of course he isn't, he's actually sneaking around with that druid guy, leading Arthur to question how courting a girl would leave him 'walking with a limp.'
I also think it's very interesting how often Merlin has to pretend to be attracted to women to avoid people discovering his secret, like with Gwen in Series 1 or Morgana in Series 2. Or this scene, where Gwen and Merlin are the only people not affected by the Lamia's seduction charm and they're trying to figure out why. And Merlin says, 'it doesn't affect you because you're a woman'. And firstly, Gwen is like, 'so what?' So, bisexual queen. And then Merlin says, "it only affects men," and Gwen says, "so then why haven't you fallen under her spell?" And Merlin is just like, 'oh shit, I don't know. I can't think of any reason why I wouldn't be seduced by a woman.'
Now, you might be saying, "but Merlin is attracted to women! what about that one female love interest he had for literally one episode who immediately died?" Oh, you mean:
Tumblr media
I'm sorry to all of the Freylin shippers out there, but this was so clearly just the writers' last-ditch attempt to make Merlin straight. If you think about it, Freya also 'has magic' if you catch my drift, and that is the only thing that she and Merlin have in common, and the only thing that they talk about. And if you look at their dialogue out of context, it really doesn't seem like it's magic that they're talking about. It's just gay/lesbian solidarity. Also, never forget when Colin Morgan accidentally referred to Merlin's potential love interests as "him or her." So who else could he have been thinking of?
Tumblr media
Merlin definitely had a crush on Lancelot. From the moment that they first meet, he just keeps going on about, 'omg, isn't Lancelot so strong and brave and chivalrous? God, I hope he becomes a knight, he would look so good in a suit of armour.' And then he says to Gwen, completely unprompted, "so just for the sake of argument– Arthur or Lancelot?" Why are you thinking about that Merlin? Then that scene ends with Merlin and Lancelot getting drunk and stumbling home together and waking up the next morning having shared Merlin's single bed. So take from that what you will. I don't necessarily think that anything happened between them, not because I think Lancelot is straight, don't get it twisted, just because I think he's a fucking virgin.
But certified pansexual manwhore Gwaine on the other hand, oh they definitely fucked. And it's a very similar situation to Lancelot, Merlin's only flirting technique is just to find some buff guy who's just saved his life and be like, 'oh my god what can I possibly do to repay you? Maybe you could come back to my place and I could tend to your wounds and then we could go down to the tavern, have a few drinks'.
And it works. Merlin literally used his job as apprentice physician to the Knights of the Round Table as his own personal Grindr, and i love that for him. But, of course, these are just side hoes to Merlin's main bitch, Arthur.
Tumblr media
You can deny everything else that I've said, but you cannot deny that Merlin was in love with Arthur. And don't even try to say, 'but it's just because it was his destiny'. Because, yeah, like that's any less gay. They're two sides of the same coin, destined to be together, Merlin 'uses magic only for Arthur'. Come on.
Also, it's pretty clear that Merlin cares about Arthur more than he cares about his destiny, throughout the entire show. But it culminates in this scene in series five where, because of very contrived plot reasons, Arthur has to choose between legalizing magic and saving the life of Mordred. And Merlin convinces Arthur not to legalise magic so that he will let Mordred die. He literally enables the genocide of his own people and condemns himself to a lifetime of suffering just on the off chance that he can spend a bit more time with Arthur.
And if that isn't heartbreaking enough, of course, every action that Merlin makes only confirms Arthur's fate. And after he very platonically dies in Merlin's arms, as dudebros do, what does Merlin do? does he go back to Camelot and live a full happy heterosexual life? Of course not. No, he spends the next one and a half thousand years just waiting at Arthur's resting place, waiting for the day that Arthur will be resurrected and they can be together again. What the fuck kind of Greek tragedy, Achilles and Patroclus level shit is that? That is fucking gay.

Okay, if you were asked who are in Merlin BBC that you can see based on canon that are gay/bi/pan/demi, which characters are they? Why?
I’m just gonna note that I’m not attached to any sexuality headcanon because people are going to have different opinions and it seems daft to lose more than half the fan content (art, fics, etc) just because of a headcanon. I’ll read more or less anything, I play around with queer themes in my writing fairly regularly and multiship everyone in the show, sometimes with characters from other fandoms too, but these are the sexualities I’ve written most of for each character otherwise this would be way too long.
And I know I’m assigning modern understandings of sexuality to medieval characters, but it’s a show with dragons and magic, also capes, a French castle, and whatever the hell that chainmail was so I think I can be excused for my historical inaccuracy.
Merlin: either gay or bi with a a preference for men. I could never get myself to really like Freya in the show, she wasn’t bad and I didn’t hate her, I usually just forget about her because it was one episode so I didn’t have enough time to get attached. She deserved more screen time and I love what the fandom has done with her character, but I usually see her where Merlin’s shipped with someone else so I honestly forget their romance exists most of the time. Other than that, I usually see him shipped with knights or Arthur or if he’s shipped with another woman, it’s someone who didn’t get enough screen time to get attached, or a mergwenthur (is that their ship name?) poly relationship.
Arthur: bi and demi. He needs time to like someone, canonically only started wearing a shirt after he got married but he walked around his chambers naked when it was just Merlin/no sexual implications in a servant of two masters. I’ve done deep dive character analysis into that and what it says for their trust of one another if anyone’s interested. It goes into them being platonic but acting like a couple and why meant so much for me to see as a kid and also why I think that proves their relationship is more than words can fully encapsulate. Also he’s had crushes on men and women so bi just fits.
Gwen: bi with a preference for men, she and Morgana had chemistry and I ship them pre season 3 but after that, not so much. Also had crushes on Lancelot, Merlin and married Arthur. They’re an adorable couple, honestly I love them. I don’t really have much else to say.
Morgana: aroace lesbian. Just my favourite headcanon, I like that she never had a canon relationship but she definitely had chemistry with Gwen. They’re just sweet together. I don’t know, mostly just vibes and my desire for more aroace rep.
Lancelot: bi with a preference for women. Gwen and Merlin. Yeah, that’s pretty much all I have to say. I just love that he’s such a great guy, I don’t think there’s anything more to it than two crushes in canon and vibes. I’ve written him as unlabelled or queer a fair amount, it really just depends.
Leon: Romance and sex averse aroace. Again, I just want representation and think he’s cool. I’ve seen him shipped with others, but I tend to default to aroace Leon in my own works more than anything else. Occasionally I’ll give him a qpr but it just depends on what I’m writing.
Gwaine: aromatic pansexual, he likes flirting but I think the idea of a permanent long term relationship would be “the one to tie him down” and it never entirely fits right. I’ve seen him shipped with Percival, I love that but usually if I’m writing it, I’ll have them in a qpr. I think he definitely feels low levels of romantic attraction but not enough to want a romantic relationship with someone, he loves so much, just not in the traditional ways and writing aroallo Gwaine is always super fun.
Elyan: I headcanon Elyan as trans masc but I don’t think I’ve got any specific headcanons for his sexuality. I’ve probably written him straight slightly more than anything else, but it’s a close tie between writing him straight and bi. It never usually comes up, so maybe just unlabelled or queer. I don’t know, he’s just Elyan. That’s all really.
Percival: I know in canon he had a wife and kids, I write him as being gay more than anything else, but my main headcanon tends to be that he’s bi or pan. Purely based on vibes but if it’s not relevant to the plot, I won’t bother mentioning it.

The way murther would have a completely different dynamic if they were genderbent, like omg.
Twas reading some Merlin fics and came across Murther as you often do in the merlin ao3 fandom and it occurred to me that while I'm kinda meh for canon typical Murther (I like Lance or Gwaine with him more and also Arthur having to be like "So this is my wife, the queen. And this is my soulmate, the court sorcerer... It's complicated, don't ask.") Genderbent Murther would be genuinely feral.
Here me out, Arthur doesn't want to be a knight as a goal, he wanted to be a good prince and being a knight was part of that. So it goes to imply that female Arthur wouldn't be some burly knight or do a Morgana type 'imma learn to fight anyway bitch' thing, fem!Arthur would do her best to be the best princess she could be.
Where Arthur is a fantastic fighter, f!Arthur would be impeccable at playing the political field and reading people. F!Arthur would be the perfect princess and would fucking know it, she would still be arrogant but instead of bullying the stablehands with knife throwing it would be a backhanded compliment about someone's outdated clothing styles. Princess Arthur would be a completely different character.
Merlin however is from the boonies, peasant women can't afford not to work so female Merlin would have been raised very similar to the boys and likely the only change in character she would have would be a much higher likelihood of knowing genuine self defence.
No one is sending a young unmarried woman off to the capital on her own, she would have been taught at least enough to stab a man where it hurts, if not kill him outright.
Imagine the dynamic with this flip in the personalities though!!!
Perfect princess Arthur being saved by this random peasant girl weilding a knife and the fucking audacity. Just the dynamic of the definitely not scheeming princess and her definitely not a terrifying assasin maidservant.
I honestly think they'd get together in like five minutes flat. Arthur not wanting to have her agency taken by a man meets hella cute and also sexily violent Merlin? She'd climb that peasant girl after the first thwarted assassination attempt.
Especially given that lesbians weren't really seen as a thing back then or if they were, were considered 'training' for their 'real' relationships, so people legit would either not notice or just wouldn't give a shit.
Arthur wouldn't be able to be blatant so she would 100% train her maidservant into the perfect spymaster/assasin and unleash her on her political enemies. Merlin thought the princess was a prat for all of five minutes until said prat gave her bedroom eyes and then 'thanked' her for saving her life... Merlin now has a hot gf, a weird dragon friend, and is getting advanced stabbing lessons... she is a fulfilled bitch.
(Arthur takes the throne because she actively ousts Uther. He tried to marry her off and she already had a shakey relationship with him cus he doesn't know how to raise girls. He is now 'taking a medical vacation' and Arthur rules as queen. Magic is legalised cus merlin legit could not last a full week without this observant version of Arthur noticing the magic.)

Any Mallard McQuack HC’s you have?
By far not all of them (I'm too scatterbrained for my own good) but was able to compile some of them together with some basics.
These go for all mainline versions (original, 2010/16 comics (a.k.a. Prime dimension), DT17, 2023 comics) unless specified. (Some of these can be carried over to other versions of them to a extent.)
None of them are straight. Launchpad's Bi (canon), Drake's also Bi (91 def wasn't straight, but his attraction to women didn't feel like comphet (at least from a character standpoint. Writing on the other hand…)) and Gos is a Lesbian but the only one of the main ones who has that figured out is DT17. The other versions of her are 9-10 and haven't thought much about it.
Side note: Drake is Trans (but you problobly already knew that if you've been keeping up with my work. lol) 91 & 2010 Drake were shocked at S.H.U.S.H. helping him with his transition. (Should be noted that Trans healthcare is a very personal issue for one of the organization's biggest donors for some unknown reason.)
They're also all Autistic. Launchpad and Drake are canon (at the very least in DT17) but I don't think anything's really been mentioned behind the scenes for Gos (though the whole "spirit" thing gives me Autism vibes). 91 Drake's problobly the only member of the family who hasn't been formally diagnosed.
They all share one braincell. Sometimes none of them are holding it, but only one of them (usually Gos) can hold it at a time.
It's rare but whenever Drake is mad at Launchpad to the point of making him sleep on the couch, upon going to bed he almost immediately gets upset and lonely and begs Launchpad to come back. His record is about 30 minutes.
Gos does learn magic. I don't think she'd go back to that magic school, or that she'd get magic powers of her own, but she does study it with Morgana (a.k.a. "Aunt Morg"). DT17 Gos also practices with Lena and Violet.
Non-DT17 versions of Gos also gets more interested in science as she gets older. In a way it makes her feel closer to her grandpa as she fears her memories of him will eventually fade.
Launchpad also teaches Gos and Drake the basics of being a pilot. Thinks it's important that they know incase something happens to him. Also how to crash as safely as possible.
Also on that note it is impossible to get severely injured, let alone die from Launchpad's crashes. It's kindof his superpower.
They're a SEGA family. If given the option they'd go for the SEGA versions of a game. (Of course, this was easiest for the '91 versions. RIP) 91 Gos has gotten in fist fights over this.
And of course, Drakepad is endgame.

Propaganda Under Cut
Gwen
She stands in the way of Merthur, by far the most popular ship in the fandom. I haven’t seen it as much in recent years, but back in the days of fanfiction.net she got slut shamed so badly for having been romantically interested in three of the male characters over the course of the show, which is just... normal straight woman behavior, meanwhile Merlin crushed on pretty much every woman who even looked at him in the early seasons of the show and got no hate for that whatsoever. I barely even read Merthur fics (not because it’s m/m, just because certain aspects of their relationship don’t appeal to me) but the “Gwen is a slut” attitude was so pervasive across the fandom, even fics that weren’t explicitly anti-Gwen would “jokingly” call her a slut. I even saw a few fics demonizing her for having an affair with Lancelot despite the fact that SHE WAS ENCHANTED when that happened, and surprise surprise, Lancelot (who was also under the influence of magic) got none of that hate, and neither did Arthur, who got enchanted to fall in love with multiple women over the course of the show.
Canonically Arthur Pendragon's love interest and an important and interesting character in the show who's completely shoved aside and ignored in favour of the medieval bbc yaoi ship. At best they put her and Morgana in Lesbian Timeout (ie make them get together and then reduce them to wingwomen at best because god forbid we focus on the medieval bbc yuri). Justice for Gwen right now!
She is prince Arthur's love interest (eventually wife). Arthur is MADLY in love with her. He tells his tyrannical father he would give up his crown to be with her (she's a servant in the series). He forgives her cheating on him with Lancelot (!), which in the show is caused by an evil enchantment, but the characters never find out about it. He chooses her time and time again. His love for Gwen is literally never put into question. Many fans insist to this day that there was no chemistry between Gwen and Arthur compared to Arthur and Merlin. Arthur isn’t even particularly nice to Merlin most of the time! The funny thing is that Merlin himself ships these two so hard and does everything he can to help them get together!! Gwen & Arthur are adorable and too many fans were drunk on the yaoi fumes to see it. ARTHUR WAS A SIMP FOR GWEN.
Iris Hawthorne
Ex gf of the MC i lover her ok she is sweet
Phoenix wright’s canon ex girlfriend. Extremely underappreciated because people ignore her to make narumitsu work better
poor girl gets slandered by the fandom so much for being the main character’s ex. i know she was used primarily for the plot but cmon everyone’s just so mean to her. she was manipulated into doing terrible things by her sister whom she loves so much and she didn’t know any better because all she wanted was to have a family. it’s not an excuse for her actions but it’s just so tragic that she did everything for her sister just for her to use her for her own personal gain

Here's some extra little info from the magic Persona 5 au
So this one does follow the plot of P5R! Except. Palace rulers are normal humans who gained portions of Morgana's magic when Yabadabadoo beat his ass and had him turned into a cat
It typically manifests as a sort of charm ability. To convince people of things they wouldn't normally believe or do. Other beings of magic have a resistance to this, such as our main cast. To regain Morgana's magic, they either have to have the perp give it up themselves, or. Kill them
And the kill route is taken. Once or twice.
Ann's dad is also a succubus, and her mom is an incubus! And the way their attraction powers work are they can like. Turn on and off the appeal factor. Except for direct touch. Luckily it only works when that person is attracted to that demon's like. Identity. So for example, Yusuke as a gay man can touch Ann just fine but Makoto, lesbian, can't touch her without being affected
Oh also. Every confidant is also magic or a monster in some way. Ahuh.
Oh but not Sae. She's. Got to go through some things. Mainly like, coming to terms with accepting that she hasn't been a great sister for Makoto since. The incident that turned her into a werewolf
And, and! Makoto always has a tail. She doesn't really accept the whole werewolf thing, for a while. She's been one since she was 13, and. It hasn't been a fun time. The repression and inwards hate kinda, glitched something along the way and she can summon her wolf ears and have them go away, but the tail? Permanent. So she wears the uniform pants, and at first uses a belt to keep her tail strapped to her leg to keep it from showing
Yusuke often forgets to blink. Cause he doesn't need to, he's a kitsune. The others often have to remind him to blink to keep up his human act
They have sleepovers all the time. Ann will cuddle up between Ryuji and Joker, her wings spread over both of them, Yusuke lying across their legs like a perfect plank. At first Makoto always takes the couch, but then when Futaba and Sophie join next to them, and Haru curls up between them in her cat form. Sumire ends up between Joker and Futaba
Strikers is in this au too! But right at the end of the school year, right after Haru and Makoto graduate, Haru and Ann pay for the whole group to go to a monster-friendly, mountain hot spring resort for a whole week. Where Sumire can run around with her lil horns and tail, and Yusuke doesn't have to blink, and Futaba can openly talk to her sister (Sophia) without being stared at or called crazy
Haru, who's cat form is. Very long haired and fluffy, ends up setting up grooming appointments for herself. She gets one of the others to drop her off, and enjoys her little kitty spa day. A little fur trim, nail trim, a nice bath? Plus, when she gets dropped off, she makes sure whoever does brings a bag of little shrimp as her preferred treat. So she also gets to enjoy shrimp while at it too
And she is a shrimp fiend. For years she had to attend parties with her dad, putting up with it for the chance to eat unlimited premium shrimp all night. She also loves a good salmon, but strangely she's not a fan of tuna
The first time Makoto has fancy brunch with Ann and Haru, she discovers steak tartare. And. Oh boy. Based on the price she doesn't get it often, but it's the perfect treat for when she's had to be a brave wolf that week
Ann gets jealous when she sees the other girls getting to cuddle up cause she'd love to join their cuddle pile but. Making her friend unwilling horny is. Not fun. Luckily, there's a way to cheat it. And she gets plenty of cuddles from wolfkoto and kitty Haru, as well as little deer Sumire. Futaba is also fine. She's ace so there was never any worry
Oh and Hifumi? She's a lot closer to the group as a whole. I can't help it. She's great
Anyways. ASK ME MORE ABOUT THIS I WANNA TALK ABOJT THIS

Another Headcanon, only this time: Gender Swap Au
Eugene to Eugenia, Gavus to Galina, and Lucilla and Liberta's switch their names. (For reasons)
Warning: gruesome torture
Eugenia
Before meeting Galina, Eugenia was the absolute beauty that made her one of the mid ranks. No one knows where she came from, but rumors said she's one of Lady Lei (Leofric) creations.
Eugenia had many suitor candidates, mainly hypogeans. One of them be (Mehira, Lucretia, Mortas, Framton, Zolrath, and Ezizh) but most of them were either too violent, untrustworthy, or toxic. Eugenia simply wanted a healthy long relationship. Luckily, her wish came true after all those lonely years.
Eugenia's hypogean powers come from her hair. The longer and well kept is what made her strong. Only Lady Lei, her creator, knows about as she created Eugenia to be able to defend herself.
Like the original Eugene, Eugenia has red streaks of hair that resemble like a fire, and the end of her hair faded red. Long finger metalic purple nails, a faded face streak on the check. The only difference between two genders is the body figure, but what both have in common is
T H I C K N E S S
Eugenia's signature artifact would be a war fan. Eugene is more into mortal creations he would be into craftsmanship, with Eugenia interested in fashion. So, with a fan and infuse with her hypogean powers, a magical fan that can throw blades and flames. Gotta fight in a dress/jumpsuit with heels 💃💅🏻✨️
During her prison, Eugenia had to deal with her magic draining away by her hair getting cut off, torture, and rape. One of her potential suitors told her that she could be set free if she agreed to marry them, which sent her blood to boil in rage.
"I would rather die than marry you filth!"
Don't worry, Eugenia managed to get her revenge when she was freed by Lucilla and Liberta. Though she had to tell her kids to not look as she was brutally killing the hypogean guards and couples of other hypogeans who might have been her suitors, already dead on the ground. Slay girl 💅🏻✨️
With her now shortened to the length of her neck, she could barely defend herself. So when they got back together, the twins would ask Galina if there was a way for Eugenia to grow her hair back, or at least get her regular strength back. Hmm.. might make a small series, but that's for another time
Galina
A student of Michael (Morgana) and training to be one of the high-ranking Celestials. With training, Galina gains muscles. Instead of scholar, a soilder in training.
Her appearance is giving lesbian vibes by having short hair because she didn't want her hair to get in the way during battle and studying. Instead of star face mark, a star mark on her forehead. Especially the marks on the arms as well on her leg ankles.
Her signature artifact would be a sword. Why is that? Referring to Greek mythology, titaness of Law and Justice, Themis. Her symbols are the scales and a sword, specifically a bronze sword. So with AFK Arena lore, Galina does swordtraining and was gifted a sword, Claymore sword.
Also, doesn't wear earrings, sadly. Galina wouldn't be interested in jewelry accessories other than armor since she's training to be a soldier. But when she started living with the twins and Eugenia, Eugenia would introduce her jewelries. Galina would wear hand bracelets, and soon a ring.
When they reunited, now Galina the one with long hair and Eugenia having short hair.
Lucario (Lucilla) & Liberty (Liberty)
With male Lucilla being named Liberta, he would sneak away from training, wanting to have his own freedom. Similar trait from Eugenia. And with female liberta named Lucilla, had the most brightest personality, but Michael taught her to be cold like a weapon she's supposed to be. That is what Galina was trained to be, but luckily, Lucilla was able to show her true emotions when both her brother reunited with their moms.
Both Lucilla and Liberta want their hair to grow like their mom Eugenia
Liberta's signature weapon would be a giant scissor, and Lucilla's weapon would be a magic wand
Liberta doesn't like being told what to do and perfers to do his own way. Lucilla is the sweetest, her name meaning light or bundle of joy.
Tho, @tatarella suggest their names to be Lucario and Liberty. Which sounds perfect. Let's go with it
Lucario horns, I picture to this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From pinterest. idk if I'll be able to finish the sketch while I still need to do Galina.
Family Moments
When they were still babies, Galina still had no idea how to get them to fall asleep. Eugenia taught her by singing lullabies. I could imagine her singing "Stay Awake" from Marry Poppins. Eugenia's voice was soothing like any mother's voice.
"You also have to carry them close to your chest so that they can hear the heartbeat."
"Why is that?"
"From what I know, babies remember their mother's heartbeat before they were born. So, as long they know our heartbeats and a couple of songs, we will get our little devils to sleep."
"How do you know about this information, Eugenia?"
"Well...it's one of the things I had to learn from Lady Lei since I was to be married to another hypogean to create a stronger heir. Luckily, I meet you and the little devils."
Eugenia would make matching clothes for the twins, even make dresses for her beloved pigeonhead
"You don't have to-"
"Nonsense! I have worked on this dress for weeks. Plus, you can be beautiful too and show your muscles~"
"Alright, alright, I'll wear it. Thank you, Eugenia."
One time, Lucario raised his voice on his celestial mom. Let's just say he was grounded for a week.
Eugenia and Liberty would have teatime, and soon Galina and Lucario join.
Eugenia is more of a stay house mom as she knows how to cook and sew clothing while Galina goes out to get materials from close by town.
Lucario and Liberty would ask Galina if they could braid her hair now that her hair had grown more since her prison.
It drives Eugenia crazy, having to tell Galina to wear at least socks or sandals inside the house instead of walking barefoot.
"At least the kids wear socks. Go put some socks or sandals!"
"But I don't have sandals."
"Are you that really picky? I can get you sandals, shoes, or slippers. You can't walk around barefoot!"
"Moms are fighting again"
That one meme (which I'm trying to find) explains the dynamic:
Eugenia: *grounded both Lucario and Liberty for whatever reason got them in trouble*
Galina: *trying to reason her hypogean wife*
Galina: *also got scolded*
Yeah, Eugenia may be the demoness of chaos, but when it comes to her kids, it's a no. They must get it from Galina for fighting so reckless without a plan to backup. Forget getting her hair long again. She's gonna get gray hair from all the troubles. Literally karma for Eugenia.

Merlin BBC UK TV Show - A Psychological Analysis Series Part 2
The Gay Arc Of Our Protagonist and Antagonist
Using magic equals homosexuality motif, Camelot represents a homophobic society. Against this backdrop, is where Morgana and Merlins character arcs are formed.
For Morgana, the backdrop of an intolerant society is further compounded by a homophobic family dynamic. She is literally disowned I.e not acknowledged by Uther as being his child (a fear a lot of lgbt people have). She ultimately rebels against the society and her family by coming to terms with her sexuality. However all the oppression and the unpleasant coming out process (Merlin literally poisons her) has made her bitter and she lashes out in destructive ways namely against the token heterosexual couple of the show Gwen and Arthur. It plays into the homophobic stereotype of how militant homosexuals are a threat to traditional heterosexual society. Morgana is literally turned from a brave and loyal friend who helped a lowly servant by going to his village and helping him defend it to being this irredeemable shrew once she embraces her true identity I.e a goth lesbian ROFLMAO.
Tumblr media
Merlin who has also grown in a homophobic society, however was lucky enough to experience a tolerant interpersonal dynamics. His mother and his friend are both aware of his identity and are supportive of him. However unlike Morgana, Merlin chooses to stay in the closet because, he has chosen to focus on his career of being this amazing sorcerer whose job is to enable a king achieve greatness. This parallels a lot of gay people who remain closeted I,e actors, athletes, politicians, even ordinary people who feel coming out will deprive them of opportunities.
Tumblr media
To really understand why the tone of merlin tv series changes drastically in seasons 4 and 5 is to understand the primary motivation of our hero and villain.
Merlin character arc is driven by fear. Fear of being found out. Fear of being rejected. Fear of failing his destiny.
Tumblr media
Morgana character arc is driven by hate. Hatred of Uther for not acknowledging her and forcing her to supress her true self. Hatred of Camelot for condemning her when she wanted to rebel against a system that vilified her for what she was.
Tumblr media
In classic fashion, those who rebel against society meet an untimely end. Morgana just like Sal Mineo's character in the classic heavily gay Sub textual movie "Rebel Without A Cause" is killed off.
Merlin who plays by society’s rule by remaining closeted and denying his true feelings, lives to be an old man full of regret.
In a case of art imitating life, Richard Wilson, the actor who played Gaius, came out in his 80s and said that he regrets hiding all his life because he never got the chance to build a family with someone he loved. I think it’s very bittersweet how he played a role that frequently told Merlin to “be more careful”.

bbc merlin liveblog - s1 ep2: valiant
i forgot abt how many dramatic slowmo shots of knights riding horses this show has
i say id love a sword but if i actually had to use one id probably be like merlin, just flailing around and tripping over my own feet (when i say probably i mean definitely, im like that without a sword)
any scenes of merlin without his neckerchief feel wrong, like merlin why are you naked put that scarf back on pls
morganas so pretty what the actual fuck
*dramatic sword fighting music begins*
morgwen being adorable in the stands while the men brutally attack each other <3
merlin: *makes a joke* arthur: *chuckles* merlin: :D
once again, the costume department for this show is insane i love every outfit (particularly morganas!! all her dresses are absolutely gorgeous)
the random sped up parts of some montage shots is hilarious to me and i cant explain why
"he's using magic" "are you sure?" - summary of the entire show
morgana holding onto and stroking gwen's cloak is so cute i love them so much
gotta love the creativity of the episodes so far, there's been magic death singing and magic death snake shield
"i wouldn't like to you" "i want you to swear to me that what you're telling me is true" WHY ARE THEY STOOD SO CLOSE TOGETHER THEYRE SO GAY
arthur talking to uther in the council room and merlin just stood a few paces behind him like🧍🏻‍♂️
this whole thing makes no sense, could they not have just...shown uther ewan's body which has a snake bite???
im loving the random cuts to morgana just looking ethereal as usual. director rly said give the lesbians what they want
merlin having not even been arthurs servant for an episode and being fired already- if only it was that easy for arthur to get rid of him 😭😭
god the set's so beautiful, i wanna go to pierrefonds so bad
"just give me a straight answer!" HA 'straight' sorry merlin ur destiny is anything but that
the compilation of merlin trying to get the spell right to bring the statue to life is FUCKING HILARIOUS that one shot where he's stood on something pointing down at the statue dramatically and yelling the incantation 😭
*morgana enters the room* *music changes to something actually ethereal and godly* as it should she's perfect
"i did it! :D" merlins so adorable
AND MORGANA SAVES THE DAY LIKE THE BADASS BITCH SHE IS I LOVE HER
"you're too proud to admit you were saved by a girl" "because i wasn't!" "you know what? i wish valiant was escorting me." "fine." "fine!" why did they think anyone would believe the almost-romance plotline theyre so incredibly siblings

okay but have we considered morgana x freya?? two women who believed themselves to be monsters, hunted by the same man and his loyal followers, cursed, doomed to death the moment someone finds them out, alone. they wish for freedom, somewhere where they can be themselves, where they dont have to hide, where they can embrace their power and who they are without fear or without harming anyone.

1: Magic is a Metaphor > 2: Morgana is a Lesbian > 3: Merlin is Gay > 4: Arthur is Bi
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously, magic is a metaphor for being gay. It is something that you're born with, that you can't change, but that you have to hide because the society around you won't accept you. Both Merlin and Morgana are always saying that they've been made to feel like a monster, an outsider, and they just want to be accepted for who they really are. And it's no coincidence that they are the most queer coded characters in the whole show.
But building off of that subtext, I think that you can read the different way that Merlin and Morgana go about trying to achieve equal rights as being an allegory for queer identity politics, where Merlin embodies this homonationalist assimilation strategy. He believes that if he stays closeted and conforms to the status quo, then eventually he will prove that sorcerers are good, moral, normal people and therefore worthy of rights. But over time, he internalises all of this shame and self-hatred and becomes increasingly obsessed with Arthur and dependent on his validation until he becomes complicit in his own oppression.
Meanwhile, Morgana represents a radical rebellion ideology. Even though she comes from a place of privilege, she quickly realises that she can't achieve meaningful change through constitutional methods and therefore resorts to violent protest. But her downfall is that she's more motivated by personal vengeance than a genuine desire for equality. So she creates a lot of infighting within the community by shunning anyone whose ideas aren't as extreme as her own, and she inadvertently confirms all of the negative stereotypes about 'angry witches' that she has been trying to fight against.
Obviously I don't think that all of this political commentary is intentional, but the basic idea of magic being gay is definitely intentional. As evidenced by this quote from the executive producer of the show, where he says very sarcastically, "some people say that (magic) is a metaphor for his sexuality, but that's just read in by them, isn't it? On no level is magic metaphorical in this show." And then Katie McGrath says, "it's funny because I don't actually think you're being sincere." And then she says directly to the audience, "Julian is lying right now."

I read somewhere that Merlin BBC (especially Merlin and Arthur's relationship) is subtext mlm like Hannibal NBC & Good Omens, do you agree?
Yes I do. The subtext is font size 20, bold and more consistent than the actual plot. /hj
In all seriousness though,
I don’t know anything about Hannibal NBC but Good Omens is a canonically queer show, I can’t remember the book enough to comment, it’s been a while since I read it properly more than skimming, but for the show but I’d definitely recommend season 2 to see more about Crowley and Aziraphel’s relationship. There’s also Maggie and Nina for lesbian rep, Muriel being canonically non binary and none of the angels or demons have a gender despite how they’re perceived.
As for BBC Merlin, they’ve confirmed it was intended to be a gay romance in the series finale commentary.
“In all seriousness, we did very genuinely think of the episode as a love story between two men” -quote by Julian Jones, the show’s director and producer with Katie McGrath, who played Morgana. There were also jokes about Merlin and Arthur being together throughout the commentary, comments about “there goes the last vestiges of his heterosexuality” “can’t have a show without lesbians” and “Merlin can’t have a love interest without you killing him off.” “Or her.” “Well,”(Last 3/5 quotes are paraphrasing, I don’t remember them word for word but you get the idea)
Contextually, it was before a time when gay marriage was even legalised in the UK and queer baiting wasn’t a thing because queerness wasn’t spoken about to begin with. There’s definitely something to be said for magic as an allegory for queerness and I can go into my opinions on that at length and in great detail if asked.
Merlin and Arthur’s relationship is canonically a friendship, there’s no denying that and as an aroace person it means the world to me that they weren’t together officially romantically, whatever you want to call it, even if they acted like an old married couple the entire time. In that same vein, as a queer person growing up in a very homophobic household in the UK, seeing them on tv as a kid was everything. I genuinely thought they were together for years until I started watching the show because I’d only seen a few bits and then fan edits of that moment by the river in season 2.
And this got longer than I was expecting so to summarise; I love merthur in all formats, be it romantic, platonic, or otherwise. But there is definitely subtext throughout the show, and a turning point for their relationship at the end of season 4/beginning of season 5.

I don't like the Lamia episode.
Well, I mean, I absolutely love competent Merlin with being a court physician (finally) but the Lamia ruins so many things for me.
I know a lot of people like to joke that Merlin is ace/nonbinary/ gay when Gwen asks him why the Lamia has no effect on him. As funny as that is, it doesn't fit the narrative.
You know what? If this argument is about the affect of her magic, then there should have been women in that village whom the Lamia attacked. Lesbian women. Then, in my fandom clouded brain, GWEN should have been affected by the Lamia's magic. And Leon should NOT have been.
It doesn't make sense that she only ate men because they are "stronger". This episode has Gwen in it, who has fought in the battle of ealdor! And of course, the show features Morgause and Morgana as skilled sword fighters. Why would they go back on that narrative in this episode? Because they are villagers? Men villagers are worth anything but village women aren't? Again, battle of ealdor episode taught us that that's not the case!!!
I hate this episode entirely out of spite because it doesn't match with how I see the rest of the show. (And it ruins my headcanons... And yes... ships)
So, here is how I get by that episode and turn the facts in my favor:
It's the Lamia's taste. She likes men better than anything else. Purely based on taste. Not sexuality, she EATS people. She could, technically, affect anyone but doesn't because she's a picky eater. That's why her magic works on Leon (whom I hc as aro/ace) because it's a magical condition. Uther managed to love a troll due to magic, I find this absolutely reasonable.
And since Merlin is a magical creature, as the show suggests, she doesn't dare touch him/ can't affect him.
I rest my case.

Any headcanons for the trolls in the trollhunter trilogy cus I haven’t seen any so far
Tumblr media
heheheheheheh-
You bet I do
Since trolls are born of magic (one piece of heart stone from each parent) that means trolls are technically non-binary since they don't have a reproductive system like humans do. This also means that there can be gay, lesbian and non-binary trolls that can have kids. Also, since trolls are non-binary natually, this means that trolls can choose to be male/female or anything else. They can either choose to fit in with the human's gender norms like Blinky, Arrrggghhh, or Draal, or they can be their own thing like Deya who appears not to be traditionally feminine, leaning more on the non-binary side.
Just look at her silhouette, you wouldn't even guess she's a lady troll, lol
Tumblr media
Another headcanon of mine is that the troll toddlers and babies are absolutely feral, like they will climb on walls, hide in small spaces and just be the bane of their parent's existence. Blinky mentions at how 18 years a young troll becoms potty trained, that means the troll child is around the equivalent to a 4 year old.
The troll version of baby sitting is literally sitting on the kid/baby. Trolls aren't squishy like humans, they are made of stone, so it wouldn't be too far fetched to say they wouldn't get hurt if the little ones were sat on. Plus Blinky thought that baby sitting was literal.
Some trolls definitely are a bit r a c i s t towards humans. Fleshbag is a derogatory term for humans. Vendle was harsh on Jim in the beginning because he was a human. Because Jim was a human trollhunter, he had to endure the insults thrown at him, but he also had an advantage for being underestimated all the time.
Trolls, we know for sure, don't kiss since it's a human thing and Jim had to explain to Draal what kissing was. Instead, their version of a kiss/affection is by placing their foreheads together like we see Blinky and Arrggghhh do in one of the episodes. I'm not saying Blinky and Arrgghhh are a thing though, they are very close friends more than anything.
Gronknux- since it refers to the sensitive nether regions of a troll, it could just be a spot of weakness not for the reason we are thinking about. I claimed that trolls don't have a reproductive like humans, so what's the point of that area being sensitive? It could be like getting punched in the diaphram, knocking the air out of our lungs. The gronknux could be the equivalent to that, and since trolls aren't like humans, not experiencing pain often, they most definitely don't like the sensation of pain when they do feel it.
There is no limit to how big or small trolls can get. From the size of a knome to as big as a mountain, it all depends on the species of troll. Not Enrique is the size of a baby even though he is a grown troll, though his size could just be because his familar is a baby.
This brings me to changelings. Changelings seems to be a mix of troll and another species of magical creature. Not Enrique is a goblin/troll mix while Strickler is stalkling/troll mix. In order to become a changeling, it is hinted at that a very painful/sinister process has to take place. I am unsure what Nomura would be a mixture of, but she is very slender and appears to be glossy/wet all the time.
Goblins are good nannies. Those mother fuckers take care of the babies that were taken to the darklands. They feed, calm, entertain, and definitely change the diapers of the human babies. Plus, I'm pretty sure some of them enjoy their nanny job, lol. There is no one more trustworthy than a goblin to take care of your child.
Speaking of the darkland babies, they have been kept as babies for many years, so it's possible that there is a formula/magic out there that stops or stunts aging; immortality. Merlin, Morgana and Douxie all have been the same age for centuries, so they must also posses the same magic that stops aging.
That's all the headcanons I have
