#my chaotic gremlin doesn't understand

A story from back when I played D&D. It might have been 3.5 or pathfinder or fantasycraft or one of that ilk. Might even have been 4e. It was like a decade ago.

So. Standard D&D. A party of bold adventurers of diverse origins and skillsets gets together to explore a perilous dungeon and stop a cartoonish baddy. The usual.

I end up building a fairly typical character for me. A goblin Rogue/Assassin. A stealth/melee build designed to get the drop on an enemy, do a bunch of rapid damage, and then fuck off.

She was lawful evil, and firmly in the team-fortress-two-sniper school of "You know who has a lot of feelings? Men what bludgeon their wives to death with a golf trophy. Professionals have standards." school of being a mercenary. I think I even did an aussie accent.

Anyway her schtick was that she'd noticed 'Adventurers' got to do as much violence as they wanted without social consequences, and she loved violence! So she was gonna do a stint as an adventurer, so once she was done she could go home with a big sack of gold to spend on booze and cake and hot girls. But right now she was on the job, so she was an extremely professional team player with a strict code of conduct. Always be honest with the team, follow the plan, don't mess things up for the team, split the loot evenly. Standards.

Verna was a horrible efficient little murder gremlin who was also proudly guild-certified. * * *

Now, another PC was a chaotic neutral gnome bard who was leaning hard on the 'gnomes are amusingly racist to goblins and kobolds and think this is funny and endearing' thing. He teased Verna a bunch about being green and ugly, which she studiously ignored because - remember - she had Professional Standards.

Anyway, there was a human NPC we met that she didn't like, saying he was a bit stupid and very annoying. Our gnome bard decided it would be very funny to use one of his enchantment spells to make Verna suddenly horny for him and watch what happened.

Verna sees the gnome who keeps fucking with her walk up, wave his hands and babble some arcane nonsense, and now she has weird funny feelings she can't explain. She does some thinking and concludes that she'll pay the human for a snog later, because right now this guy's just obviously cast a spell to mess with her mind, which was Not Okay. Of course, she had Professional Standards, so...

She walks up to our gnome friend and basically informs him: "Hi! I know you just did some magical brainwashing on me, and I am not going to tolerate this! However, because we're in a team together, and I don't want this to become a problem, I am going to very generously allow you to settle the matter with me. We will have a bout of single combat to first blood, and then whoever wins I will consider the matter settled and my honour satisfied, and you won't do that again, and we won't mention it. This is a very kind offer of mine, because I have Standards; where I come from the normal response would be to say nothing and strangle you in your sleep tonight."

And our gnome, who is a spellcaster not a combatant, looks at this and decides he doesn't want to get shown up by her, and basically tells her that if she doesn't like getting messed with she can go back to the goblin village, and laughs at her.

So. Shrug. Quickdraw as a free action. I get a surprise round. You're flat footed, so it's easy to hit and I get sneak attack damage. 3/4 of his health is gone. Initiative. He says he wants to say sorry. I respond that he can say that when it gets to his initiative count, but right now it's my action and he's still flat-footed and here's my big pile of d6s for sneak attack and oh dear I think that's him on -10 hp, so he's not going to get the chance.

Anyway this kicked off a massive shitstorm ooc about how I just kicked off PvP and murdered a PC for no reason and the game fell apart because the gnome's player genuinely didn't seem to understand that 'mind control' is a hostile action. This was in the bad old days before safety tools and I was playing in a fairly neckbeardy group, so 'a man makes a woman horny against her will to humiliate her and laughs about it' was apparently not a deal-breaker while 'the woman stabs him for it' was.

I still think I wasn't the bad guy in this scenario.

There is no point to this story I just wanted to share it.

something i can't stop thinking about is the fact that Percy Jackson started as a comfort story for Rick's son to show him that his adhd and dyslexia doesn't have to be just a bad thing and the fandom then took Percy and Leo and made them into these stupid idiots that don't even know basic math or "big" words and wouldn't be able to even tie their shoelaces without someone else's (someone smarter's) help

don't yall see how fucked up that is? a big part of this fandom has adhd and/or dyslexia and/or other learning disabilities/neurodivergence and find comfort in those characters. they are called lazy and stupid all the time and then yall decided to take characters with those disabilities and ignore their inteligence and made them into something they are not just because their adhd is more "visible" (read more stereotypical looking) (even tho that's not true either because the fandom made them into chaotic gremlins but in reality Percy is more just sarcastic and snarky and even that is more just his internal monologue for his own amusment and to cope and Leo just uses humor as a coping mechanism to hide his depression and other issues but that's a discussion for another time)

Percy is canonically very smart and strategic. no he isn't very good at school. it's what happens when you're neurodivergent and have learning disabilities. that doesn't mean he's stupid. no he doesn't know everything about greek mythology and that doesn't make him stupid either. but when Annabeth tells him the myth he is very good at coming up with strategies and how to win a fight. he's not smart as Annabeth because Annabeth is literally a daughter of the goddess of wisdom so stop fucking comparing them. are you also going to call Annabeth weak and incapable because she can't control water? no you won't because that's fucking stupid. and Leo. fucking Leo. is literally canonically a mathematic genius and also genius when it comes building stuff. they're both smart. they're not fucking stupid. they know and understand words that are longer than 5 letters. no they do not struggle with basic knowledge. they're not fucking stupid.

and miss me with the "it's just a joke" bullshit

and it's not just a joke for many of you because the number of fanfics where they are written in exactly this way is too fucking high. it's actually surprising to find a fanfic where they are written right

in conclusion: the way this fandom portrays Percy and Leo is reinforcing the harmful misconception that people with adhd and/or other learning disabilities are stupid and i hate it with a burning passion

call me sensitive all you want i'll gladly accept it i will rather be called sensitive for hating that those characters are being treated this way than follow the fandoms harmful idea about them

A little bit of rambling of him below the break, spoilers (Keith's route, and little bit of Nokto's route) and such :0 so you have been warned.

TL;DR: I enjoyed the route despite its questionable elements. MC is too forgiving at times, but other than that, romanctic route was cute. Licht, the third wheel, was funny but sad.

Okay first about Keith's visual design: I really love how his design is the most asymmetrical from the suitors. Like the jacket and the vest he has. The jacket is very interestingly layered, almost like you aren't sure which part is the main thing and what is the accent. The green or the gold? The host or the alter? : D Same with his vest. His duality is battling in his clothing too hahaha

Keith's route was interesting. I had heard lots of differing opinions about it and I had my own reservations.

One mainly about the portrayal of DID and how the route does it. First things first: I'm not an expert at all. I won't even humor the idea that I had any say in anything regarding it. But overall, it could have been worse? Of course it might be very extreme in the way Alter Keith is hostile towards Host Keith. And of course you shouldn't take this as the only way the alter systems work. But as I said: I'm not an expert.

I had heard that the dramatic route follows Alter Keith and romantic route host Keith. I picked the romantic one. I had my personal reasons for that tho. But aside from that, it was nice to be with Keith that who struggled with self-worth. It was nice to see him grow as a character and find that strength to stand up for himself. (The fact that the host Keith seems to think that he is inferior to Alter Keith and that people would prefer the alter over him. The amount of stress that will bring. )

Keith's uncle was your very generic villain/antagonist without any real depth. He was a spoiled noble and so on. But since this was more about Keith inner journey I thought it was fine that it was like that.

The drugging scene… Well. That's a… a topic. Hmm… Host Keith himself felt very guilty about it and was full of remorse. Not that it was his choice to do it. Alter Keith well… He might justify it because he was gathering information about a rumor that might endanger his home country and people if it were true. I kinda can see where he is coming from, but also...IT CERTAINLY WAS DESTROYING OF TRUST. Like that time when Nokto "accidently" gets MC drunk. but hey ho. Since there is limited time frame for the chapters, I do understand they can't really jam all the things there, but I wanted Belle be more angry with him with Alter Keith for longer.

Maybe that's what bugs me sometimes. That Belle/Emma/MC is sometimes too forgiving and too much of a doormat. It works in routes like Yves and Licht (from the routes I have played, Leon seems like the most respectable gentleman too), because they are not being insulting towards her. I would even think that she works with Clavis, tho I would love to see him with someone who shares his chaotic gremlin energy. But with characters like Chev, Silvio or Alter Keith the their "power" doesn't feel balanced. MC seems to be completely on their mercy even if they stand up to them in some way. (Gilbert is another can of nasty things.)(With Chev's route, well, that is also a rambling for another time. But I haven't finished his route yet. so I will keep my ramblings to myself for now.)

Is Keith's route more about acceptance then? Accepting the good and the bad of a person? Possibly. I would think that is a good way to put it. Both Keiths have good and bad sides. And it seems that they are working on them.

Zelda's Personality

I did a post about how Link, despite being a player insert, has different personalities through the games that appear subtly and can be inferred based on his behaviors and responses. So now it's time for the Zeldas! More recent games have given more of a shining role to the character for whom the franchise is named, and I love the variety between them all, so let's explore it a bit! (At least for the games that I've played)

Ocarina of Time Zelda - My gosh. I love her so much. This woman ain't a princess, she is a Queen. She is so determined to protect her people that even as a child she's willing to order people around and go against the adults' wishes, despite being ignored. This girl is determined. Like, BotW Zelda gets put down over and over despite her efforts and she is understandably dejected and goes along with what her father wants. This Zelda is straight up like I'M RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG and just moves on LOL. Not only is she determined, she has a plan. A very foolish childish plan because she is a child and no one is going to stop her.

And, naturally, since it's a child's plan against an adult who has all the other adults wrapped around his fingers, it doesn't work. Zelda is left with a kingdom in flames, the evil man she was trying to stop obtained the Triforce, and her father is dead. She's fleeing her home and spends the rest of her childhood in exile. Something like this could destroy a person. And maybe it did. But she picked herself back up. And not only did she pick herself back up, she trained herself to fight. She learned everything she needed to about the Hero's journey so she could guide him when he returned. She stayed in hiding to avoid Ganondorf's watch. She protected the Triforce of Wisdom. This girl is a certified badass.

This Zelda is a fighter in every sense of the word. Nothing will stop her, not even her own mistakes. But she is sensitive too, she's aware of the damage this has done to Link and is apologetic and so incredibly sad. She carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. (Granted, this is Adult Timeline Zelda, but she is just Child Timeline Zelda put through a different scenario, so... same personality for both of them, just different circumstances).

So overall, this Zelda is decisive, resolute, never gives up, empathetic, and probably a little reclusive based on how she's always left to her own devices.

Skyward Sword Zelda - This girl is chaotic and it's wonderful. She pushes her best friend off cliffs and sky islands. She bullies the bullies. She's training in a knight's academy, which more people need to remember dang it. She's protective, she's anxious, she's bossy, she's curious.

This girl is also pretty darn adaptable. Like. She gets thrown out of the sky, out of everything she's ever known, tossed into a world of danger with no one to guide her but a stranger, and has to recover memories of being a freaking goddess and endure a journey of discovering herself while also being chased by Ghirahim. And she does it. Like... Link isn't far behind her, he goes after her literally the next day, and she's already doing her part of her adventure. She was told the fate of the world depends on you and she said okay, then, better get going. Like wow.

She has to have a strong sense of self. This girl found out she was a goddess and told Link after everything, "I'm still my father's daughter. I'm still your Zelda." She was called Your Grace, she was a spirit maiden for a deity her people worshipped, and she still said, "yes. Yes, all of this is true. But I'm still me." Like... I know we see her during her journey when she's still processing and not the aftermath, but this girl has a will of iron and will not let go of who she is.

In summary, this Zelda is courageous, has a strong sense of duty, is a gremlin, excitable, assertive, and stubborn.

Breath of the Wild Zelda - Oh, this poor princess. This Zelda is so sincere and wants to help so much, but she struggles with discovering herself and her powers. She is endlessly inquisitive and absolutely crushed under the pressure her father and her kingdom places on her. She lets it out through understandable frustration, pitting it against someone who, to her, represents everything she is not, which is so interesting.

This Zelda wants for the pieces to just fit but she can't figure it out, and instead of doing some introspection she just continues to look for alternatives. When she does do introspection, it's just to ask why she's defective. Things just need to make sense. I feel like an attitude like this implies that 1, Zelda has no instructor and therefore never learned how to learn, and 2, that implies that everything else she's good at has come naturally to her, such as technology. This girl is a scientist! Who has not learned the scientific method! Though she does try experiments, as poor Link can attest.

When Zelda is allowed to just be herself she seems very sweet and bubbly and excitable. She's so happy when she wants Link to try that frog! She's also incredibly chatty, bless her, having to put up with that silent knight all the time haha (yes, Link does eventually talk to her. Eventually.)

I would also like to note that the instant this girl gets her powers, she goes straight to the castle and holds Ganon at bay for a hundred years. The instant she's free of that burden and bondage, she wants to rebuild her kingdom. Like holy cow. This girl went from doubting herself so much to having so much hope. She is a symbol of hope for her Hyrule.

BotW Zelda is uncertain initially, but learns to have faith in herself and more importantly has all the faith in the world in her people. She is inquisitive, extremely intelligent, energetic, bubbly, and very sensitive.

Twilight Princess Zelda - One of the more mysterious and less prominent Zeldas in her series, this woman radiates quiet strength and regalness. Also, her very first scene (or maybe it's a cut scene flashback in her first interaction in the game) shows her brandishing a sword to fight alongside her soldiers. Hell yes, Queen. But she also has the wherewithal to recognize when she's outplayed. She is wise and knows when to fold to avoid needless casualties. She is willing to put herself in such a vulnerable state in order to protect others. She knew that fighting would still result in the kingdom being overcome by Twilight magic with bonus dead soldiers, so she opted for doing it without the dead soldiers. Knowing when you're beaten and taking it with grace to figure things out takes not only wisdom but humility.

This Zelda is also just... so incredibly understated. Her sadness over her kingdom's fall into disarray is poignant but subtle. Her compassion for Midna when she's dying is muted, but so clearly evident in that she gives her remaining life energy to her. Her acceptance of Link as the Hero, and her sign of respect to him and petition for his aid is just oh my goodness, the regal bow, the willingness to fight alongside him, I love her.

With as little as she features in the game and with as quiet as she can be, she honestly is hard to peg down, but overall this Zelda strikes me as someone who feels deeply and expresses little of it. She's quiet, she's reserved, but she is humble and dignified and incredibly kind.

So there you have it. Some of the ladies for you. I love them all dearly and love to compare and contrast them. <3

I have read the manga and i know about nirei's growth but he didn't become a better fighter.... My main issue is suo character is awfully reduced to nirei in Twitter fandom!. Since season 2, I can barely find suo stans talking about suo outside nirei and sonr ship .... All their fanarts draw suo as ugly dom top ... extremely OOC . They also underestimate suosaku and suokiryu dynamics so much like I want people to appreciate all suo characters interactions but they act like suo only cares about nirei 24/7.

in roppo_ gravel arc, kanji and Sakura were fighting many opponents Side by Side while nii sensei held suo's potential back for nirei's protection sake... I love suo's rage moment yet the fans reduced it to>>> ( suo can become angry only for nirei) ... come on suo is his own person.

I don't entirely agree that Nirei hasn't become a better fighter. I mean, Nirei kind of started from level 0, when he wasn't able to fight at all. If we look at it from a perspective, we can see a lot of progress. First of all, he learned how to defend himself and also use his defense as an attack. It may seem unspectacular at first, but considering Nirei's beginnings, he does a lot and gives it his all, to the best of his ability. He can still improve. And although he will probably never be as good as the rest of the guys in terms of physical combat, he is a much better version of himself now. However, not everyone has to be this type of fighter. Nirei can offer something much different, but also useful - like his support. The information he gathers is also very helpful. His contribution to the fight may not be physical, but it certainly contributes a lot to the strategy. Nirei is a fighter in the sense that he doesn't give up and keeps fighting to not be a burden, to be useful and to grow.

Well, I don't have a Twitter account, so I'm not really aware of how things work in the fandom, although I've heard a lot about the toxicity there. But from what you're writing, it's probably better for me not to go there (although I know that because of that I miss out on a lot of beautiful fanarts). I understand your frustration. I also understand that people often present characters very OOC and it often comes out really well. But if there's too much of it, we can really forget what these characters were like in canon, which is sad, because we loved them as such and not someone completely different. Many characters really suffered from it and don't deserve to be misunderstood. Also a character is not only created by their appearance, but also by their personality. And when their personality changes completely, are they still the same character? I don't think so.

As for Suo's other dynamics being underestimate, I'm really sorry to hear that. I love Suo's interactions with different characters. Yes, his relationship with Nirei is very important and completely different from the other characters, but each relationship is different and unique in its own way.

Suosaku is my absolute top ship in Wind Breaker and I really love how Suo is constantly teasing him, but he's also very supportive and really understands Sakura. Does Suo really think about Nirei 24/7 when he looks at Sakura like that and cares about him so much?

Suokiryu also has a great dynamic. I see the potential for a chaotic duo, "Prepare for trouble and make it double" - this is so them. They're gremlins that can cause a lot of chaos and we as a fandom really need that - to see Suo and Kiryu together in action.

I'll also add that I really need some Kaji and Suo interactions, because they're both really similar and could understand each other like no one else. Kaji has a beast inside him that he hates, but Suo also has a dark side hidden inside him.. This has really huge potential, even not as a ship or just a senpai-kohai relationship.

I'm also curious about Umemiya. After all, he's the head of Furin, he should have a proper one-on-one conversation with him (like with every student, that would be interesting). At the very beginning of the series, he said that he doesn't know Suo well, but he thinks he's a nice guy. But a lot of time has passed since then. We know that Suo is not just a "nice guy".

Also the absolutely brilliant relationship between Suo and Tsugeura. I mean, Suo can't stand that guy! No one can unnerve him like Tsugeura! How can we not talk about it? It's absolute gold and I'm curious about their relationship and what else we don't know about them.

I share this anger that we don't get to see Suo's full potential, because I also crave for his big moment. I'm convinced that what we saw in his rage moment is not even a fraction of his capabilities. I keep waiting for Suo's moments (because he's my favorite character from Wind Breaker), hoping that he will finally show that he is one of the best fighters. However, as you know, his role is usually limited to protecting others.

But I think he decided that for himself. I once made a post (I had to look it up because I had flashbacks from those screenshots in my head) that Suo kind of said that he's going to be a supportive character.

Suo doesn't want to draw too much attention to himself, he wants others to shine. He focuses on protecting others instead of stepping out of line. He takes the spotlight off of himself and puts it on others. He lies constantly, avoids answers, which is why we don't know anything about him. I think he hides behind other characters for some reason (it could even be just his magnanimity, who knows, but he chose this role for himself for some reason).

But that's also what makes him interesting. What are his reasons for doing so? What is his dark past, what are his secrets, why does he hold back, because we see that he holds back in battle. It could just as well be that he's "just a guy" without tragic backstory, which would be funny. But either way, he's a really complex character. Like you said, he's his own person, which is why it's sad that many people can reduced his rage, this whole character.

I hope we finally find out who Suo Hayato really is.

Honestly, I'm not sure if you expected this type of answer, but I've been talking too much and I hope there was something valuable in my babbling!

SLOW BURNS | ADDRESSING CONCERNS

Okay my sweet chaos gremlins (affectionate), let’s sit down for a second and talk because my inbox has literally exploded since chapter 11 dropped. Like, seriously, you guys need to chill—kidding, don’t chill, keep yelling at me, it's my favorite thing ever (ಥ‿ಥ)♡

I’ve noticed a pattern: a lot of you are READY TO FIGHT Jungkook for sleeping around, and some are also ready to gently shake Phoenix for not being furious about it. First of all, can I just say how much I absolutely adore that you're feeling frustrated about them? The fact you’re emotionally invested enough to threaten bodily harm (jokingly, I hope) means I’m doing something right. Go me~

But here’s the thing (puts on psychologist glasses dramatically): Fuck Me Up is, and always has been, a slow burn story. Like, really slow. PAINFULLY slow. I know this fanfic has over 60k words already and some of you are shaking me by the collar begging them to get their act together and kiss already, but babes—we're literally just warming up. Phoenix has only been in town for TWO WEEKS. They barely know each other. Right now, the extent of their emotional connection is basically "You're dumb but hot, let's bang." They’re not even friends yet. (I know, shocker.)

As a writer, my ultimate obsession is realism. Relationships, feelings—they don’t bloom overnight. Especially not when we’re dealing with emotionally traumatized gremlins like Jungkook and Phoenix. They're carrying around some pretty heavy baggage, so they need time. Realistically, people do a ton of shit without even understanding why. Phoenix doesn't understand yet why she insists on keeping things secret; Jungkook doesn't fully grasp why commitment is terrifying for him. They both think they know, but trust me—they don't really. People are rarely fully self-aware about their deepest motivations, at least not right away.

I promise I'm not torturing you for fun (okay, maybe a tiny bit). The slow pace is intentional—I want their relationship to feel earned. Every glance, every conversation, every annoying yet somehow endearing moment matters. I am planting seeds everywhere. There are breadcrumbs scattered throughout every chapter—small details, tiny moments that might seem insignificant now, but they'll mean a lot later. If you pay attention, you'll see pieces slowly click into place. This is my favorite thing to do, and I’m not changing it because you crave instant gratification (though mood, same).

Also! It’s normal and healthy for people—especially messy twenty-somethings—to fuck around and make dumb choices. That’s part of growing up, figuring out life, love, and themselves. People date and sleep around before finding their forever, and sometimes the person who ends up being your ride-or-die was right beside you all along—you just didn’t realize it yet. They’re just quietly there, blending into the background of your chaotic twenties until one day you’re like, “Oh shit, it’s you. It’s always been you.” That’s exactly what I’m portraying—real humans making questionable decisions because we’re all idiots when we’re young. It’s okay for Jungkook and Phoenix to be messy. It’s okay for them to frustrate you. Actually, it’s fantastic. That’s the realism I live for.

They'll get there eventually, but their journey isn't about just ticking off a trope because this is a Jungkook x reader fanfic. It’s about authentic, organic growth. When they finally get together, it'll feel real and right—not because they’re obligated to fall for each other, but because they've actually earned it through every struggle, misunderstanding, and quiet moment.

If you’ve checked my “About Me” section (and if you haven’t, literally zero hard feelings—I barely check those myself), you already know I’m absolutely fed up with rushed relationships in stories. Like seriously, I’m allergic to insta-love. I write slow burn, I breathe slow burn, I procrastinate slow burn (it’s a problem). Everything I write is painfully slow-paced, intentional, and deeply psychological because that’s just who I am as an author. Relationships take time and work. And this isn't just an FMU thing—it's gonna happen in Kkangpae too. Characters doing things for each other unconsciously because feelings develop in sneaky ways is my whole-ass brand, okay? So buckle up. We're nowhere near finished, friends, and there’s a whole emotional rollercoaster ahead. (I did say I was psychologically fucked up, didn’t I?)

In short: Please trust the slow burn. Let it cook. Let it simmer. Let it emotionally devastate you gently, because that's what love and life and my stories are all about.

i can 100% see Nezha and mk's relationship (regardless if it's platonic or romantic) being equally beneficial and detrimental. like there so much they could help each other with but also subconsciously cause serious problematic habits/ thought processes/ coping mechanisums for each other and themselves the biggest thing my brain latched onto was how MK could become Nezha's first truly safe space.

Nezha going what i know and understand about his lore and what we can glean from the little we know in the show's canon, definitely has it rough in the celestial realm. he had a very troubled childhood and is clearly haunted by his past and is being defined by it despite his efforts to grow and prove that he's better now. he can command respect for his strength and power but people still question him as a person, always waiting for him to slip up. what relationships he does have he probably doesn't feel fully safe expressing his real self and thoughts because it poses potential risks. then mk comes into the picture. Nezha's given him a safe place to talk openly and he'd want to offer the same to the prince. even if he can't help directly he knows just having someone to vent to can help. its small stuff at first, little complaints here and there about work and the celestial realm, but slowly nezha starts to open up about more personal stuff. stuff with his family, with other celestials, and about his past. and to his amazement and relief is met with only empathy and understanding from mk, even after learning about the darker stuff MK never judges him. Nezha doesn't have to mask anything about himself around mk, infact he's being encouraged to relax and just be his natural self around him. he's truly safe when its just him and mk, that feeling has to be euphoric for the poor guy used to being on guard constantly even around the people he loves.

but of course, could easily lead to a mutually unhealthy co-dependency. nezha's already been isolated to some degree having never had much of a positive support structure, and mk's slowly isolating himself away from his established support structure. resulting in an echo chamber of two very well-meaning but very mentally ill people.

(i'm so sorry this turned into a short essay I've been waiting three hours to get of shift so i can spill my brains out about this. i have more but I'm going to end it here in fear that i'm being a bit much about these two)

You’re so right, Nezha and MK are at the same time a good counterbalance for each other while also being accidentally self-destructive. MK is a chaotic lil gremlin who follows his emotions and worries about consequences later and Nezha (in LMK at least) seems to be trying very hard to come at things logically and approach from a more grounded, duty-based perspective. They both could use a splash of the other’s energy in that manner, so in that way it’s for sure a good thing that they’re getting closer.

Problem is, like you said, these boys are sooooo mentally ill 😂 The feeling that they need to constantly be proving themselves, giving a little more away every time, pushing their own boundaries and suffering in silence because it’s what someone else needs- these are things they might accidentally end up encouraging in each other…. Actually, probably not even accidentally. They see the other working crazy hard and being run ragged physically and probably emotionally too, and they’re like “I am SO proud of you for sacrificing so much!” ..and both of them have never felt so seen as when the other says that to them. It’s validating their worst impulses to just keep going and giving because their own feelings about it are less important than everyone else’s.

Also, the fact that they feel like they can expect to get that praise when they admit to being stressed might even make them be more open about it. Only with each other, though… if they were to mention feeling overworked or burdened to their families, they know already that they would not get the response they were looking for.. but again, even if it means they’re being more open, it’s still not a super good thing that it’s reinforcing destructive behavior. :U

hi!! this is kinda a weird question but ur post about characterization for french ccs is rlly helpful for writing, so i was wondering if u had any like . tips or advice about speaking patterns or like. common terms or phrases they use and stuff like that. i have a lot of issues with auditory processing and other hearing stuff that makes it like . hard for me to always understand speech patterns or just like . what people are actually saying so if u have any like . advice or info about like How They Talk that u could put in text or like specific that would be cool. no worries if u dont/cant btw i completely get it i just remembered that u were the one w the previous helpful post ::D

Yeah, no problem I could try ! :D Now keep in mind again I'm not necessarily an expert, and I'm just doing this because it's fun. I still might make some mistakes, and miss some important details, but 'Ill do my best. SO

Let's go for HOW DO THE FRENCH (and swiss) CCS TALK :

Let's start with

ETOILES : So I feel like it might be the easiest because he's the clearest to me. He tends to speak at a normal space and in english with a noticeable slighly french accent, but not an extreme one. He likes to crack jokes constantly when he speaks with other people (most of the time hyping up others, and self deprecating, you know the "You are a legend, I am dumb".) . He can drop pearls of wisdom randomly through ridiculous metaphors ("You don't need to worry, My name means stars, that means that when you look I'm here." "It's like crossing the road, you have to, and there is cars, you need to be careful, but it can't be all you focus on. Wait I'm not sure about that one...") and sometimes actually genuine and inspiring, but more often that not in the tone of discussion, it doesn't sound like he's dispensing "wisdom of the elders", he's just a humble guy talking with you and giving a random advice. He often says in french "Wow a flop" when something doesn't work. Or "c.s.c." (Contre Con Camp, a football term meaning scoring against your own team) when he comments on someone being a tryhard for example ("WOW such a tryhard (csc)"). He'll often makes the joke that nobody likes him when they don't answer in chat to himself, (or chat) and will directly tell them "You want me to die irl don't you?" ensues a myriad of "holy shit you want me to die for real" answered by the "NOO" of the other one. Two last details that came to me, he rarely actually answers by "no" or "yes", he often use "Yeh yeh yeh", or "no no no". He also uses a lot of "euuuuh..." when looking for his words when speaking.

AYPIERRE : He is fairly simple too. He has a very relaxed tone, speaks slightly slower than most people, and has slightly noticeable french accent but less so than others. His tone differenciate between three states : Focused (while building or infiltrating a base), relaxed, and humourous. Note that he's never fully serious, he has that constant gremlin energy and smile that makes him want to make jokes that will make everybody cringe (his favorite pastime.) The only time he's been serious and slightly upset was when he earned gegg died or when he learned that the federation was trying to replicate his wine (there you can see his priorities). Most of the time people are assuming the worst when it's his countless time he starts a conversation with "So, I did something..." and is the type of guy to say "*known illegal act* is a strong word, let's say it's more like *not necessarily better*". I don't follow him as much, so I currently have no other mannerism in mind.

BAGHERA : I feel like she is a bit harder to pin down. When speaking in english she has a very noticeable accent, especially when she is tired. And talks a bit fast, especially in french. Though she doesn't crack jokes constantly, she has a constant chaotic energy that makes her say random things at times. She often say "Oh Yeaaaah" when she is happy or hyped about something, mostly when she is with other people to show them she is happy too. When she is ashamed or not understanding something she likes to take a voice we call the "Antoine Croute" voice (a character she played in a Rp series on GTA V), it's high pitched and really shy. (imagine a little "wut... ?"). She can be really serious, especially when investigating. She almost nver express vocally, in tone at least, her anger. Instead she sounds incredibly cold, like she was with ElQuackity. Her voice when serious drops a bit, and she speaks a bit faster. There is probably plenty more but I'm starting to get tired.

ANTOINE : He is the hardest to me because it is even hard to pin down in french. He has most of the time a very serious tone, while he ironically constantly making either dark jokes based on irony and cynism OR a pun. Because of this, it's sometimes hard to pin what's a joke and what's serious. His accent alternates between horrible french accent OR almost ProPeR eNgliSH. Even when discussing absolutely batshit insane things he sounds serious (he is not in reality, but it's a form of humor in itself). OCCASIONALLY he'll break and cracks a smile, and sometimes, even the heartiest laugh you've ever heard, a very vocal and deep "AHAHAHAHA" that you can hear a mile away (but it happens rarely.) Though I didn't specify, most people, including the french, stutter at least a little bit, and search their words, (like I said for Etoiles' "euh".) but Antoine tends to have a very clear speech, only occasionally looking for a translation. In the same vein, he also has a very quick reaction and can answer with a pun almost instantly (very impressive, especially when it's not his native language.)

That's pretty much all I can think of right now, and I'm tired. Maybe it's not exactly what you asked, but it's what I can muster. Hopes that helped :D

We got Godzilla Minus One Minus Color for a week so obviously I had to go and watch it on my day off. But the Icemav brainrot has completely taken me over and I simply can't stop thinking about the Icemav potential with this kind of AU.

Like Ice coming back from war, traumatized and wartorn only to discover that his parents (or siblings or whoever) are gone due to some horrific events. Trying to rebuild his life, trying to move past everything that happened to him in the war and suddenly in barges this short, chaotic, green eyed gremlin of a man and a small child that doesn't belong to the man but is his responsibility per his promise to his two best friends. Ice doesn't want them around at first; Maverick and Bradley are two extra mouths he can't afford to feed not to mention the fact that the reason they first was because Ice was in town and Maverick quite literally slammed into him and shoved Bradley into his arms before running off, cops chasing after him. Not exactly an ideal meeting.

But Ice has never been one to turn his back on children in need, even if it means he has to keep Maverick around because he and Bradley are a package deal. So Ice lets them stay. He finds a job, a pretty well paying one, and they rebuild their lives, bit by bit. Maverick finds a job in a nearby town and there's something budding between them, though neither man is brave enough to put a name to it quite yet. Ice starts to think that maybe, just maybe, he can start to move past everything.

And then disaster strikes. Suddenly, Mav is gone and with it, part of Ice's will to live. He knows he has to take care of Bradley, it's what Mav would've wanted him to do, but how is he supposed to do this without Maverick? How is he supposed to keep living with this gaping hole in his chest, this crippling sadness that hovers over him and suffocates him at every chance?

So he throws himself into helping after the disaster. If he can't bring Maverick back, the least he can do is make sure whatever that thing was pays for taking him from Ice. He leaves early on the day that everything is scheduled to go down, leaves an envelope with money for Bradley and a letter to their neighbor, Viper, explaining what's going on and to use the money for raising Bradley.

And then he doesn't die. He miraculously survives, the monster seemingly defeated, and when he gets back to shore, he finds Viper and Bradley. Viper gives him a stern look, one that definitely means that they're gonna be having a talk later, and shoves a telegram in his hand. He's confused for a split second then reads it.

Mav is alive.

Mav is *alive*.

*Mav is alive*.

He gathers Bradley from Viper and rushes to the hospital as fast as he can, trying desperately not to cry on the way there. Bradley is confused, not quite understanding what's going on but nevertheless willing to follow Ice wherever.

They rush up the stairs to Mav's room, Ice far too impatient to wait for the elevator, and Ice bursts through the door, the handle stopping just shy of slamming into the wall.

Sure enough, there on the bed is his short, chaotic, green eyed gremlin, bandages on his head and arm in a sling. Despite how much pain he's surely in, a soft smile rests on Maverick's lips when he looks up and sees Ice and Bradley.

Ice can't help it; the tears that have been stinging his eyes for the past twenty minutes finally slip out and race down his cheeks as short, hiccuping breaths leave his lungs, shattering them each time they escape.

"Is your war finally over?" Mav asks in a soft, barely there voice.

And Ice buckles. He has enough control over his body to not drop Bradley on the floor, instead placing him on the bed next to Mav's leg, and collapses against Maverick. He nods and buries his face into the meat of Mav's thigh. Hands come up, one carding through his hair and the other one running along his back. The touches are comforting, welcome, even if they make him cry more.

He doesn't care about anything else but this right here: his family, back together again, finally whole once more.

Anyway, I'll probably turn this into a full fic at some point, I just really wanted to get this out there bc it was literally all I could think about as I watched G-1 for the fifth time

Queer music with trans undertones.

That's a topic that I've only breached recently. Call me a little baby queer, but I never knew the wealth of cool music done by very cool people before this. There's a wide range of genres and different types of lyrics to go along with it. In this post, I'll focus down on music that I personally like. It may not be for you and that's perfectly understandable.

Glass Beach is a very cool band and their first album, while unrefined, has 2 songs in particular which I'm obsessed with.

Bedroom community is such a fun song and really holds true to much of my life experiences throughout my life. Because I live in an environment that does its best to isolate queer folk, that meant that the only way I could explore my gender identity and my sexual preferences was through the internet. And while not the point of the song, the song really gets me pumped up to be an annoying blasphemous little gremlin to all the nasty christo-fasc out there.

This song brings me to tears every time. The lyrics are just insanely personal and I think many trans femmes could connect with this song. Being misgendered by your peers and especially your family. Needing a desperate escape. Tackling with adulthood. The little holiday feeling of getting your HRT. It's much. It's so much. I'm bursting into tears even as I type this out. This song is so powerful. I can't help it! It's a song about me! Just for me and me alone! It's so personal aa!

While this song doesn't bring the same reaction from me, the lyrics and the melody is so melancholic and it's such a wonderful song. One of their later and more "mature" works as a band. It's great.

Now I'll do some randomly assorted different artists. I haven't explored their music as deeply as Plastic Beach. But these songs are a highlight for me. And I'm usually a really chaotic listener anyway.

This song is simple but it rocks. While I'm a gender conforming and very woman identifying trans femme, I'm also aware of the absurdity of the gender binary. And I think that even someone like me is inherently confusing and terrifying to the social systems that uphold this nonsensical binary. This song is a good way to remind ourselves how absurd and pointless our divide between "males" and "females" is not based around chromosomes or other confused markers but purely on cultural indicators of identity.

This song's lyrics are wonderful. It kind of reflects my recent posts on Tumblr and my frustration on weirdo internet people obsessed with my genitals and being creeps. Because bigotry is creepy and weird. The chorus of this song is especially really good and I find myself humming it along sometimes.

I'm not into ska, but I really enjoy this song in particular from this genre. The lyrics are fun and the theme of breaking apart and mixing gender identities is fun. It's a fun song. Because once gender stops being used as an authoritarian tool to enforce a binary, it can be fun finding the way to express yourself.

This is some of the stuff I've discovered recently. I think the main reason I'm making this post is a bit more of a serious and grim topic that I've touched upon a bit. I live in the Balkans and I live in a city that's infamous for street fights and toxic masculinity. You can imagine that being a trans femme, even if I pass well, still sets me up for a bunch of dangers. My country's politicians are conservative enough to the point that any idea of rights to LGBT folk isn't even considered, with concepts of queerness being considered a "threat" to the "traditional" family structure. Of course, all of this is a bunch of nonsense.

But it means that spaces for queer people are difficult to find. Apparently people congregate on Facebook, but Facebook where I live at is essentially Twitter. I'm not interested in torturing myself with that. That's left me feeling very isolated. I've recently actually tried to join some local Discord servers, but they were overwhelmingly dominated by cis gay men that seem to only be interested in sex. That's just not for me.

I think listening to music like this helps me feel less alone and more hopeful for the future. If anyone out there is dealing with the same loneliness I am, please find music that reflects your feelings. You'll feel a bit better about the world, knowing that you're not alone and your ideas aren't as foreign as you think.

You're wonderful.

Roach

Mute, ever since he was a child. Knows BSL for obvious reasons and is very willing to teach.

He's still trying to teach Soap, but it's not very successful. (Inspired by hurrraaid's falconry AU and Soap struggling to learn BSL there)

May or may not be autistic, I haven't decided yet, but he probably is.

Squish his face! Squish his face!

He goes by he/him and they/them.

Definitely has freckles.

Roach and Ghost grew up together, I don't make the rules. So like 90% of the CoD fandom, I'll blatantly ignore the canon.

He's a chaotic gremlin. He hides in the vents and you can't do anything about it.

Will steal your food at lunch.

Especially if you shit talk him or people he cares for.

Roach has stolen Ghost's food for fun a couple of times and given it to Soap.

He insults you in BSL when you piss him off and you probably will not know unless you're Ghost or Price. Or Gaz maybe.

If you know BSL he'll probably tease you, because he knows most people won't understand. And because this man just loves chaos. Especially if he's the cause of it.

He's the type of person to draw on your face if you're asleep early during a sleep over.

Roach isn't as short as most people think.

Stares.

I don't think he'd be as interested in football as Price, for example, is.

He's hard to get rid of, just like a real roach. Whether's he's being super loyal or making your life hell depends on what you may, or may not, have done.

Horangi

He bites. You will never be able to change my mind on this.

He's also attempted to bite König through the mask couple of times.

Also not as short as people usually make him out to be. Still shorter than Ghost though.

New recruits are dared to put a tiger-ear headband on his head to test their bravery.

He grew accustomed to it and usually tries to ignore it.

Definitly has ADHD.

And is a nightmare to be around when he's out of his meds.

Horangi comes off as really impatient. Idk why.

He struggled with learning English.

Acts like a cat, will push stuff off of tables just because he can.

I know what I said about him not being short, but if he was he'd totally climb cupboards and shelves if he had to to reach things.

Sassy as hell for no reason.

His face looks very squishable to me. He'd probably try to bite if I tried but it'd be worth a shot.

I feel like he'd kinda hate K-Pop because of some/most of the stereotypes that come with it.

Probably should not be allowed to drive.

Total cat person.

König

He's insecure about his accent.

In addition to being (canonly) socially anxious, I think he has autism as well.

I feel like he'd go non-verbal when he's overwhelmed or having a sensory overload.

He likes making German and Austrian dishes.

He doesn't handle spice very well and almost died (at least that's what he claims) when eating Korean food once and now refuses to eat it when Horangi offers.

He gets a bit upset when people confuse Austrians for Germans, mush them together or similar. Even if it's a common thing.

König has an accent while speaking German as well, because Germans and Austrians (can) sound very different from eachother. Especially in slang and general vocabulary.

I headcanon him with blonde, shoulder-length hair.

And a scarred face.

He also has a squishable face. All three of them do.

König has freckles as well, but only in summer and only a few.

Probably has eye bags.

Also stares, but by accident.

I think König gets flustered easily, for some reason.

What will 2019 Nezha, New gods and their friends reaction to DC Comics Devil Nezha? Who has been a villain and threat in this universe? And how would DC characters react to 2019 Nezha and Li Yunixiang? Would they be terrified? I can definitly see Batman being really distrustful of out favourite gremlin and hero. He would definitly start making plans to stop them if they go berserk.

2019!Nezha

He’s a mix of envy and awe as this behemoth stands before him, showing the monster he could potentially become. But he hates warnings, so this giant omen is going down.

2019!Ao Bing

After the initial shock wears off, he is enraged that this monster dares use his friend’s name. He makes his indignation very clear, through physical and vocal expressions. Afterwards, Nezha teases him about it.

NG!Li Yunxiang

Anger at this demon that thinks he can just destroy innocent lives and walk away with consequences. Also, it feeds into his self-loathing and fear of becoming the “demon child” of his past life.

NG!Ao Bing

A mix of “Oh no, he's hot” and “Finally, an unambiguous target for my frustrations and pain that I can use and not get punished for.”

How DC characters react to Them

2019!Nezha

No one wants anything to do with the chaotic, fire gremlin. Not the JL, not the Rogues, no one. Every time he disappears, you could start a 5-second countdown until you hear the next explosion. Everyone is horrified to learn that the gremlin is his de-powered form, and the hoop around his neck is the only thing keeping him down. Batman immediately begins fortifying the Watchtower and Wayne Manor. He is having the time of his life making trouble for the Justice League. His favorite target is Robin because of his reactions. He and Monkey Prince are instant besties for how much they hate superheroes. He absolutely tries to chew on Superman’s head, and now everyone thinks Supes has rabies.

2019!Ao Bing

After they realize that he was just dragged along, everyone feels bad for the kid. Then they realize that the little dragon's backstory, and now they feel worse. He is only in trouble because he went along with whatever Nezha was doing. Otherwise, he’s fairly chill. He gets along with Wonder Woman and Aquaman, especially the latter. Atlantis is so beautiful, and the gods aren't trying to kill him here. Then Bruce Wayne hears about the lonely kid with daddy issues, and Ao Bing finally puts his foot down. He’s had enough of father figures trying to teach him anything. Besides, Gotham’s water is effectively liquid cyanide to him. Everyone's opinion of him goes up when they see him play jianzi with Nezha.

NG!Li Yunxiang

He has to explain the concept of reincarnation and Primordial Spirit twelve times, and the only one who remotely understands what he's going through is Captain Marvel. Batman doesn't like him, since he managed to shatter the Batmobile while his own bike was left relatively unscathed. Also the whole "on fire when angry" thing is a point of concern, especially since water doesn't put it out. After everything in Donghai, nothing surprises him anymore. He is not interested in playing superhero or joining any organizations. He’s just vibing, trying to outrace the heroes that are constantly chasing him down (guess who wins). His favorite racing buddy is Flash.

NG!Ao Bing

He has quickly fallen from "the friend that nobody likes" to "the guy everyone actively wants dead". With the Rogues, it's a mixed bag. Some like him, some hate him, some wonder if they should team up with their respective hero to stop Ao Bing, some wonder if they should just surrender just to get away from him. He makes good drinks, so he pays for his own headache. He would 100% work with Penguin just to piss off the Bats. He feels pretty at home at the Iceberg Lounge. He will hang with any of the Rogues, except Harley since she keeps trying to psychoanalyze him. In all seriousness, the person he feels the closest to is Cyborg (daddy issues with cybernetic implants).
