like if them being a video game/creation is their whole livelihood, id think other creative skills would matter a lot to the citizens of Teyvat/allogenes

visual art like drawing/sculpting seen as most lifelike magic or something to them, so like anything u draw kinda comes to life in teyvat

writing is literally like the magic lifeblood of their planet (lines of code? like maybe thats why) and also bc it can be read by anyone

im abt to post smth abt that soon, abt how if we take teyvat this way, they literally have never read/seen a full-length novel (just really small short stories really)

it's fluff and angst but, minors still do not interact!

i still can't get over that official genshin art i posted a few hours ago so here's my brain rot lmao. it isn't really anything particular or meaningful, i guess, but i wanted to write something for the art. my brain was practically itching so i'm probably going to make it up as i go :) also my writing style is probably going to be weird in this.

warning(s): character death mentioned briefly, very light angst.

it's not that diluc likes to make you worried. but he had his reasons as to why his heart fluttered when you dashed towards his cupboard to bring out the first aid kit after manhandling him into sitting down on his bed, scolding him a bit as you pulled out the antiseptic and cotton.

he doesn't remember his mother well. actually, he doesn't remember his mother at all. the closest person to a mother for him was adelinde.

who also happens to be the first person he remembers being worried for him. he was chasing after a few crystalflies in the winery yard and, just when he was about to catch one, he tripped over his own feet and fell into the ground.

adelinde rushed to him mere seconds after that, worry written in the most clear handwriting across her face as she picked him up and rushed inside the winery to treat the scrape across his knee and a few smaller wounds on his hands.

he doesn't remember much after that other than being bribed by a glass of grape juice to stop crying and waiting for his father to finish his work to get back home.

his father and kaeya were the other two who he remembered being worried for him. at least when they were kids for the latter.

one instance that stood out particularly for him was when kaeya had lost the coin crepus had given to him. their father told kaeya to keep it safe and that it was a gift from someone special. diluc does not know to what extent it was true but thinking about it as an adult made him realize that crepus was probably trying to ease kaeya's insecurities and fear.

they visited jean that day and kaeya refused to play anything with them and did not part with the coin even for a second until they finally lured him in to collecting flowers to make flower crowns for adelinde.

kaeya had only realized that he lost the coin after they reached home. diluc saw his little brother visually become smaller and more frigid the moment he realized that. he left dinner midway and dragged himself to their room pulling up the curtains around his bed.

diluc remembered trying all the tricks he knew to get him out but none of them worked. he even offered to let kaeya braid his hair! the only thing remaining was going and finding the coin.

so he sneaked out after making sure that adelinde had slept and did exactly that.

their father had never looked older than at the moment when he returned home with kaeya's coin in his right pocket. his brother's face was completely swollen and blotched, tears still leaking out of his eyes.

he practically felt the worry radiating off of his father's body as soon as he was pulled into a bone crushing hug. kaeya sneaked his hand into one of his own sometime during it and did not leave it until the next morning.

adelinde had banned him from leaving his room days after that. his adopted brother stayed with him the entire time. (well, at least kaeya still seems to have that coin, it wasn't all for naught).

after the death of his father, it felt as though there was no one really left to worry about him anymore. adelinde was still there for him, he knew that, but that still didn't help dissipate the feeling.

it was especially rough during his visit - for the lack of a better term - to snezhnaya. the fresh grief made everything feel more painful than it actually was. an amalgamation of varying emotions; everything from anger, frustration, sadness, emptiness, guilt, the need for revenge, a sense of loss and many more that he couldn't even name muddled his head and stuck with him until years to come.

so yes. diluc doesn't really like making you worry, but he also can't help falling in love just a bit more everytime you treat his would with such worry and pain reflecting in your eyes as though it was you that had gotten hurt. it almost numbs his own pain and all he can thinking about is caging you in his arms and never letting you go.

the tenderness with which you kiss all his scars everytime he gets a new one has his heart pounding into his chest with such speed that he was sure it wasn't actually good for his health, especially when you put extra time and care into caressing that big gash across his back.

he can't help melting into spot when you cuddle his head into your neck and caress his scalp with your fingers, after taking care of all of his wounds, old and new.

he can't be more grateful than at the moment when you hum a soft tune into his ear to help him sleep better, hand still entangled with his hair and body wrapped around him, hiding him away from the entire world.

you are his home.

2023 fic roundup

phew!!! i wrote for four different fandoms this year, which is utterly wild to me given that most years i am writing for one or maybe two...but no, this year we went wild - bnha, genshin, trigun, and blue lock

so without further ado, my faves from each month:

jan 2023: i've made mistakes (but you were not one) - chaeya, i really hit my chaeya stride by this point and frankly i ADORED writing this fic, which was my first t4t chaeya fic !!!!

feb 2023: everything i ask for (and so much more) - chiluc, based on a scenario that my mom said she 'always wanted to see happen at a wedding' which rly made me laugh and thus i had to write it !!!

mar 2023: don't rush - kaeluc (and dilucest?), i just really enjoyed stretching my skills on this one in the vibes and also just. the mechanics of everything?

apr 2023: oh gods, there's two of them - cynonaribedo, which was just SO much fun after that event to consider how they'd interact and what shenanigans they'd get up to. also the smut was a fun challenge lmao

may 2023: don't be too good to me - vashwood, my first canon-universe fic for these silly guys that let me really explore the angst and also some of the lightheartedness

jun 2023: in your dreams - kaisagi !!!!! my first bllk fic!!! these two idiots make me feral !!!! they're so angsty and silly and i love them so much, i had a blast trying my hand at them!!

jul 2023: dark blue - kaisae, my last-minute final fic for kaisae july and the one that i reread and think about regularly lmao. one of my rare 2nd person pov fics, i had so much fun with teasing out all the imagery and emotions

aug 2023: but i'm losing blood and you're warm - bachisagi, currently my only bcis fic but my god was it SO fun to write, i loved getting to play in the horror genre a little and mixing that with romance and just UGH definitely up there as a fave

sept 2023: consumption - kaisagi, like what can i say except (pun intended) this premise consumed me so bad that i wrote it out of order bc i was so hooked on one particular scene. this whole story rly had me in a chokehold in the best way

oct 2023: pink light - ryusae, this is rly my favorite ryusae fic i've written to date. something about the premise and the gentleness and the second chances of it all just really got to me, i loved writing this so much

nov 2023: KNOCK.ME.OUT - ryurin, oh my god this fic....i reread this fic like every couple days for WEEKS after i finished writing it. more than i've reread any other fic, and purely out of a desire to just. live inside the story again. i loved it so much. up there with pink light as a fave for sure

dec 2023: tie me down (fuck me up) - saesagi, which like i feel like i went on a whole Journey abt saesagi within my brain and this is what came out. i rly enjoyed trying my hand at a new dynamic and taking sae out of his place of control for once !!!!

good directions - vashwood, and a fic concept i've been dying to write for ages, which just happened to work incredibly well with vashwood

kinda complicated - plantwood, which was really just an excuse to write so much porn for them lmao but i had a great time both with that and the complex dynamics between the three of them

a tentative ellipsis - kaisae, cause i can't say EVERY kaisae july fic, but this one also was such fun to think about and write, just like. the premise and the execution were so [shakes them in a pickle jar]

we both got stories (but they're not the same) - kaisae, this premise rly cracked me up i had SUCH fun writing it and getting a little silly with it lskdjfklsdjf especially with kaiser and all his denial

make me love like i want to - kaisae/ryusae, which honestly all manifested out of like. the one scene in the fic where sae writes not dead on his arm. and that ballooned into an entire almost 30k story about soulmates that ended up being unexpectedly cathartic

sometimes i wish she was you - tabieita, idk this one really got me??? i had a blast writing karasu's point of view and his manipulative little shit attitude lmao

Yes! I try to, at least, though sometimes my responses are painfully delayed. I like hearing what people think about a story, I want them to know their comments are loved and appreciated, and sometimes you end up getting into a discussion like back in the Good Old Days on LJ.

Man I really do not write a ton of stuff that doesn’t end happily /just went through all my fics

Angstiest ending of things I've posted is probably either the Kanjani superheroes AU or the apocalypse akame fic? Has my tolerance for writing lengthy angst lessened with age?

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

As I said above, most of my stuff seems to have relatively happy endings. If I were to pick I might say O I Think We Should Be Brethren, because it takes the longest and hardest journey to the ending, which makes it feel more impactful to me.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I got one "hate" comment on the Kanjani cannibalism fic from someone who thought I was sick and needed therapy, or something to that effect. Otherwise, nope.

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Yes. I would say my smut wheelhouse is kinky porn with feelings, I guess?

Story I started for a fic exchange in, like, god...2014 or so? In which Yoko kisses Hina, then hits his head and wakes up in a world that's just a shamelessly silly amalgam of J-drama tropes. Sometimes I read through the doc and go "man i wish the author would update"

Sensory description, wanky poetic bullshit, smut, scenes with no more than two people in them, banter-y dialogue

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Endings, complex plots, ensemble casts, scenes with three or more people in them, transitions, being a complete baby about taking criticism, endings, endings

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I don't see a reason for it? You either need to add a gloss with a translation (if your POV character and audience are intended to understand it), at which point you may as well just write "Screw you, McKay," Zelenka said in Czech; or you want it to be incomprensible to the reader, at which point you may as well just write Zelenka muttered something in Czech as he stomped away. If your reader happens to understand the language you've written in and you're not confident in it, they'll be annoyed by the weird grammar you've gotten from google translating it, and even if you are, you're losing the effect of someone having said something that your POV character shouldn't understand.

......................apparently I have an Opinion on this? who knew.

Cardcaptor Sakura, when I was like 13? I may have posted it on FF.net but if there's a god it's been lost to the sands of time. I do not think it was very good.

before the no's, here's my writing style!

so, for any people wondering, yes i do write correctly whenever im writing a fic. i do capatalize my i's and capatalize the first letter of every sentence, plus names (sometimes, unless its just not a very serious fic or oneshot then i wont pls no bullying xoxo). i just don't do all of that when im not writing, and sometimes i even do it by accident because its imprinted in my brain to write grammatically correctly. so, let me write a little paragraph about some random crap and show you guys that im not as horrible of a writer as i seem !

emily had never seen hotch in such a vulnerable state like this, holding onto lexi's cheek while she was in his lap as his tears fell onto her almost lifeless body. but before lexi could protest about how it was definitely a girl, the medics arrived in the room and took a look at her wounds before taking her out to the ambulance, hotch of course following with and going in the ambulance with her.

YEAH HELLO IM BACK YOOOOOO,,,, that was a little thing i wrote with my oc. so i only write in third person (most of the time) and that is because writing in second or first person is super hard for me?? with the amount of y/n stories i read it should be easy, but i guess not.

obviously when i have actual inspiration i will write probably 10x better than usual, whenever i dont have motivation or inspiration it feels like all my writiny abilities fall into a void (REAL, NOT CLICKBAIT)

Regular Genshin Impact AU. Platonic+Fluff Zhongli and Fem!Reader, reader is younger lol (is it too obvious that im projecting here...) Reader has a personality similar to Hu Tao (energetic, mischevious, prankster, so on) but Zhongli is pretty fond of them anyway. One day, while sitting by the stone forest' many cliffs and enjoying a cup of tea together, Zhongli starts talking about the things they see in the distance.

They return to the harbor after that and have dinner at Wanmin restaurant before reader waves bye bye enthusiastically before running back to their home lmao

So to sum up; Reader spends a day casual yet very fun day with Zhongli (without knowing he is a god). Very happy and cute slice of life stuff ensues.

Note: Oh my god, tysm, what you said just now made my day <3! I tried my best with the designs haha, and honestly, your blog and posts are amazing too!! Nice to see an Artem fan :) And I hope I did this amazing idea justice 😭❤️ (also I used your idea and elaborated it, I hope you don’t mind)

An Outing with A Friend

Zhongli is a very gentle, calm, and amiable person. Also quite reserved, the same goes for his friend group. Though he has made many companions over the years of his existence, not all of them have survived the trials of time. After the death of his closest friend, Guizhong, there were a few he held dear. And you were one of them—one he adored as well.

Of course, it may come as a surprise or bewilderment that a person with such a vexatious personality, as most people (primarily xiao) would describe you, was someone Zhongli cherished. To him, having you as a friend might be quite troublesome at times, but you definitely brought elation to his still life. Of course, not everyone passes the test of time; only the ones who are blessed do (though he isn’t so sure it’s a blessing anymore), but still, he’s learned to live in the moment and cherish each moment with people he reveres. 

(Enough of the angst; let’s get to the fluffy part.) 

It was a surprisingly quiet morning today; the sun shone brightly in the clear azure sky. The sun was warm but not scorching, and white fluffy clouds drifted across it. Birds chirping with their companions could be heard from afar, and the leaves of plants were covered in dew drops. 

It was a lovely and pleasant morning, despite Hutao’s prattling about discounts on coffins. Of course, the calm atmosphere didn’t last for long, as a sudden bang made Zhongli jump out of his seat slightly. It also made Hutao stop chattering, (that’s when you know it was loud). And who was that visitor? None other than you, of course! 

You greet everyone you see with an energetic wave, it was too early for such adrenaline to kick in, but who cares, right? 

"Hutaoo, zhongli!!!" You run towards them merrily. Hutao reciprocates with a cheerful greeting.

"Tao tao, I wanted to ask you something! May I?" 

"Sure! Go ahead." 

You wanted to ask if you and Zhongli could spend the day together, considering it had been quite a while since you two spent quality time together, and you missed him a lot.

"Is it fine if I steal Zhongli just for today? Please?" You ask her, clasping her hands in a pleading way, making it so that you get an affirmative answer to your request. 

"Sure, why not? You two have fun then! OH and don’t forget to take care of the old man, he might trip over some rock" Hutao called out as you grab Zhongli’s arm and ran out of the Parlor. 

"Will do, ma’am!" 

Once you get out of the parlor, you stop in your tracks and say, "So! Where should we go?" 

He looks at you, perplexed, "Weren’t you the one who took me out, saying you wanted to spend time with me?" 

You shrug. "Well,yea. But it doesn’t really matter where we go, does it? After all, I just wanted to spend time with you. So why don’t you choose?" 

"Oh. If that’s the case, then I have the perfect place we could go, but before that, I’d like to get some tea. I have an excellent brew I’d like to share with you." 

"Oh okay! Lead the way then." 

And so you and Zhongli set off on your journey, after stopping by to get his tea, you two made your way to Huaguang Stone Forest. You didn’t have the slightest clue where he was taking you, but since it was his idea, you went along with it. 

Your legs were numb from walking for so long, and you felt like fatigue was talking over your body. 

"Zhonglii, are we there yet?" You called out, your weary eyes threatening to shut, but Zhongli was anything but tired; the man was walking calmly, hands behind his back, as he only nodded to your exasperated calls. 

And after what seemed like eternity, he finally stopped. You thanked the archons as you sat on one of the rocks. You didn’t care how harsh the seat it was; to you, the rocks now felt like a luxurious and soft cushion. You caught your breath and looked up, and your mouth was left agape. Maybe the effort was worth it after all; the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. 

The evening sun had cast long shadows on the ground, and the slanting rays of the setting sun gave a warm orange glow to the sky. The sky was painted in orange, red, and yellow hues, and the sun was dozing off, shielded behind the grassy mountains and fog. You sit on one of the edges, staring off into the sky. The golden rays filtered through your eyelashes as you sighed happily.

"Care for some tea?" Zhongli hands you a delicate cup with intricate designs on it; the aroma of the tea soothed you in a way that was indescribable. And the taste was just as pleasant as the smell.

"Not a surprise, I suppose," you thought to yourself. 

"You know, this isn’t as bad as I thought it was; I could get used to this." You say with a smile on your face, gazing at the sky and mountains, the warmth of the tea in your arms makes the serene and tranquil atmosphere even better. 

"Zhongli, you wanna play "I Spy"?" 

"Hm? Is that some sort of game?" 

You face palm internally, "It is, yes. It’s basically like this: I ask you to guess the object I’m seeing within my sight by telling you clues about the objects." 

Zhongli thinks for a moment, then says, "Alright, I think I got it; why don’t you go first?" 

"Why, thank you." You scan your surroundings before placing your vision on a bird circling around one of the mountains in the distance. 

"Since it’s your first game, I’ll go a little easy on you. I spy with my little eyes… a creature that has a shade of brown." Though you said you’d go easy on him, you gave a pretty vague clue. Proud of how well you did, you gave yourself a mental fist bump, smiling sneakily. But before you could congratulate yourself, he calls out.

"Could it perhaps be the Umbertail Falcon you’re talking about?" 

You were astonished—not only did he correctly guess, but he also named the species of the bird!?

"Geez! You have quite the eyesight for someone your age, old man." You huff bitterly, folding your arms, as Zhongli lets out a chuckle. 

And time flew by in an instant as you and Zhongli talked about life and played games. You even listened to some of his stories; you never knew he knew so much about Liyue. Of course, some were quite tedious to listen to. But it was an amusing experience nonetheless. 

And so you and Zhongli made your way back to Liyue Harbor; the night sky was aglow with bright luminescent city lights; you looked up at the blanket of stars that stretched to infinity; and you heard the occasional giggling and excitement of faraway children running back and forth. 

You stopped by at Wanmin restaurant to have a meal, and before you could grab your wallet from the pocket of your clothes, Zhongli stopped you.

"It’s alright, I’ll be paying today." 

Your eyes were as big as saucers; if your jaw wasn’t intact, it would probably fall off as well. "YOU?! PAY?!" 

"Yes..? I don’t see why you are so astonished by that." He looks at you, perplexed.

Well, since he’s paying, why not take advantage of it, right?

Zhongli calls Chef Mao, asking him what he’d recommend, and the renowned chef replies by recommending innumerable names of dishes. 

When you choose a dish, Chef Mao looks at you slightly concerned, "It’s a good choice, but it is a tad bit spicy." 

Zhongli suggests, "Well, if that’s the case, may I sugg-" 

You cut him off, "Pshh, you think I can’t handle a little spice? You’re clearly mistaken, sir; I’m no weakling that can’t handle mere pepper!" You huff your chest, gesturing to the chef to put it in the order as well, and he does so hesitantly. 

"It can’t be that bad, right?" You reflected to yourself.

Oh, it’s very bad. 

You gulp, sweat trickling down your forehead, you stare at the fiery carmine coloured soup in front of you, and you swore the scent it gave off burned your nostrils. You could feel a cough bubbling up your chest from the intense fragrance. You take a deep breath and swallow a spoon whole; after all, you don't want to embarrass yourself in front of Zhongli.

And boy, did you regret it. Your face turned beet red as you stood up at lightning speed, coughing aggressively. Zhongli, seeing your frantic state, hands you a cup of water, which you chug down quickly, patting your back soothingly. After a good 10 minutes of panicking, you sit down, sighing. 

"Maybe I should’ve just ordered something else." 

Zhongli laughs, which causes you to get even more annoyed. You failed to notice he’s been drinking the same soup all this time; he has quite the spice tolerance. 

But other than that, once you ordered something to your liking, you and Zhongli feasted on a hearty meal, and you left the restaurant with a happy heart and stomach.

And so, as the eventful day came to an end, you and Zhongli walked out of the restaurant, the cool, chilly breeze bringing a welcoming close to your day. 

"Thank you, Zhongli! I must admit this was really fun; we should do this again sometime." You chirp happily. 

"I agree as well. Well then, we must bid our goodbyes, and I hope to see you again sometime soon." 

"Yup! See you then, old man, don't trip over a rock," you warn between snickers as you enthusiastically wave before entering your home.

I've always loved self aware media, from doki doki literature club, fleabag, deadpool, I freakin love it whenever some kind of media addresses the 4th wall or even incorporates it into the plot :''D

With sagau, I stumbled upon it very early on and so I binge read so many sagau fics, I scoured and scrolled through the tags until I reached the bottom fr

I don't necessarily have a favorite genre of sagau, whether it be crack and humor, fluff and romance, or angst and gore- I pretty much consumed it all but I think my tastes have come to change and I've suddenly started to prefer the more humory and less "deep" or gorey parts of sagau :''D

If you're wondering why I kept mentioning gore- there's like this sub-genre of SAGAU called the Impostor AU. Quick summary: it's basically if the reader gets isekai'd and someone (an impostor) takes the title of creator themselves and makes all characters turn violent towards the reader :'D

Right now tho I do recommend reading Language Barrier by @/nobody-for-sure as it takes a more comedic "cracky" concept for SAGAU, it's literally one of my favorites right now (^W^)

There's also this uhhh c!impostor au thing that I've seen around the sagau tags, it's still pretty new but the premise also takes the standard plot of the SAGAU Impostor au and adds more into it and makes it all less intense-ish (no cults, yanderes, or gore lmao)

I forget who the og poster is but everything they've posted about it has been pretty interesting so far :33

and oooo, i see !! i've heard of the impostor au and i know it's a sub-genre of the SAGAU but never actually fully understood it until you explained it. that sounds interesting tho, i think it thickens the plot since the impostor can be considered as an antagonist of some sort + reader also having to deal with the loyalty the characters have for the impostor creator! question, how do the impostors behave usually? do most of them have a personal vendetta against the reader? like if they were someone whom the reader used to know? i'm super interested 👀

but anyway! as somebody who has read ur work for like not exactly a year (but I'm almost there :] ) I will say ur one of the most talented genshin writers ever !! like,, I think the first fic I've ever read about u was the albedo fix where he blew up on the reader ehe idk the angst you wrote was just sooo beautiful I actually started crying ^^ n that's what I love about ur content, u write so beautifully, ur characterizations are on point and I cant help but reread ur stories to the point that I can actually memorize it lmao

n I have to say I started liking diluc very much solely bc of the way you write him?? like I'm so in love with him now bc I remember the way you've written him :)) n you know? ur like such a nice person in general djdjdjd I mean even if I'm awkward n all shy sliding into inboxes (I've only requested in one event I think) I'm so happy seeing u interact with everybody ^^ n honestly i admire you so much bc I'm not that confident in my writing so like i just read a lit of ur stuff n marvel at how well you consistently write!

That’s a long time to be writing! I’m sure you’ve had so much practice over that time, I envy how dedicated you are -- though I’m sad to hear about you deleting a blog, it hurts to see that happen to people who love something. (I do want to say I’ve noticed slow downs lately, but considering your fandom, it could be impacted heavily by school (finals are rouuuugh on a lot of people))
