#my life is a mess Eda you don’t understand

So on twitter the other day, @rebeccaartsy mentioned she was thinking about how different things would be if Hunter was there from the beginning and it really got my mind moving.

So like my totally self indulgent headcanon or whatever,is that Hunter in season one is spending his time hunting wild witches and no one really takes him seriously so the whole time he’s trying to prove himself by trying to capture the most famous wild witch, Eda. But I like to think he doesn’t have a very strong artificial staff at this point and isn’t seen as much of a threat. He’s also either not the Golden Guard yet or just wears normal scout stuff to draw less attention. So he is always setting traps and stuff and Luz meets him and his vibe is like an annoying neighbor kid. He just gets roped into the occasional adventure because he’s there and just when he's starting to question life in the coven he gets promoted to coven head and he works even harder to be taken seriously.

Because I love how Hunter and Willow meet so much where they see the true version of each other right away in a way no one else has, I imagine their first meeting is still outside Luz and everything. Like, Hunter is messing with something plant related (maybe making a trap or liking for a rare plant to help Belos, idk) and gets tangled in some aggressive vines and Willow finds him and helps him. But the vines are from like a really complicated plant that requires extreme patience and talent and he’s like even Terra would have trouble with it and while his spitting facts Willow just untangles him effortlessly. She’s just like “boop! You’re good :)” and at first he’s worried she’s gonna tell someone or blackmail him but she’s just “no prob yo.” But she’s also very impressed that he found the plant that he did, cause they're super elusive and he’s like uhhh thanks.

So he offers to walk her to where she’s going and they start talking and he’s info dumping things on plant magic and they’re vibing and he realizes no one has ever let him talk so much before. And she likes talking to him. Then he realizes exactly where they are and before he can make an excuse to leave, Luz comes out to greet Willow and when she sees Hunter she groans. And they dive into their sibling banter slinging shots back and forth and Willow just stands there thinking like “huh, this is the guy who’s always annoying her? He’s not that bad.”

And so it’s just like a little bit where he’s always like “ugh you guys are the worst! But not you Willow, you’re great obvi.” Like he has no idea anyone would ever think she’s weak because he still met her in her element and she just thinks he’s a dork. But the crushing doesn't really start until Understanding Willow because I love that episode and I say so:

“Gus, listen,” said Hunter, as he walked through the open door of the Owl House. “Obviously, there is much I can’t divulge but upon consideration I am willing to grant you an interview for your class. The Emperor’s Coven values education, and so I could definitely offer you information on our selection process which I’m sure your teachers will find impressive and- why is Willow upside down?”

“Oh, Amity set Willow’s mind on fire and now she’s losing all her memories,” said Luz with a nervous chuckle. “But uh, what’s up with you?”

“What?” He said running over to her side and helping her sit correctly on the couch. “Is she okay?”

“Don’t worry blondie, we’re gonna get these knuckleheads in there to set things right,” said Eda. “Or at least less wrong.”

“You’re gonna entrust Willow’s mind in the hands of… them?” Said Hunter in disdain as he glared at Luz and Amity who honestly couldn’t argue with him. “They were the ones who put her in this situation in the first place! Not to mention, this location isn’t zoned for a spell of that caliber and as a member of the Emperor’s Coven I could-.”

“Listen, do you want it done soon or do you want it done legally?” Asked Eda. “Cause by the time we get the permits to do it your way Goldie, there won’t be any of Willow’s memories left to save.”

“Very well then,” said Hunter, pretending as though it was a hard decision. “I’ll allow it. Just… be careful with her.”

“Alright then,” said Eda. “Lemme whip up something to put her to sleep. She’s not gonna wanna be awake for this.”

“Oh look, the prince is here,” giggled Willow, leaning on Hunter’s shoulder for support as she noticed his presence for the first time. “Helloooo, your highness.”

“Uh, hi,” he said, not expecting her to be this close to him. “A-re you oka-.”

“Shhh,” she said, putting her finger to his lips, whispering as though it was the most serious thing on earth. “There’s something I need to tell you.”

“What?” he said despite his lips being smushed, hanging on to her words with concern.

She took a deep breath. “You have beautiful eyes.” She whispered with intensity.

His face turned bright crimson as he tried to laugh, assuming it must be a joke of some sort. But Willow’s voice didn’t carry the disdain most jokes at Hunter’s expense carried. She wasn’t in her right mind, but maybe that didn’t mean she wasn’t serious.

“Oh uh… thank you?” He said, clearing his throat. “So uh so do you?”

“Hmmm,” she giggled then hiccuped, squinting at him and then leaning in closer as though she couldn’t quite see something. “Do they make you wear that mask because you're so handsome all the time?”

“What?”

“Woo, you could cut something with that jaw ouch,” she said, her voice low and playful before erupting into another sea of giggles.

“I uh, I don’t think that’s-.”

“Nap time!” Said Eda, and Willow instantly fell asleep, leaning forward onto Hunter’s shoulder. He was unprepared to say the least, but tentatively put an arm around her to keep her steady, his eyes wide as his movements were careful.

“Alright coven boy, you keep Princess Planter comfy while I tell these two how to keep things from getting worse,” instructed Eda, pointing to Luz and Amity.

“Yeah sure okay,” replied Hunter, barely listening. Eda was telling Luz and Amity something but all Hunter could hear was the gentle sound of Willow snoring, her breathing slow and deep and peaceful. He has never been so close to her, he could see every delicate freckle that decorated her face. Her glasses were askew so he carefully removed them, because it just seemed like the thing to do. Her mind was on fire, the least he could do was make her more comfortable.

He watched as her eyes shifted behind her eyelids as she… dreamed? Would she think this was all a dream? She would mumble things occasionally, hopefully that meant something good? She just looked so-

“Hey Hunter, you want in on this?” Asked Gus.

“Huh?” He looked up quickly as though he was being accused of something. He hadn’t been listening. Hadn’t he been tasked with monitoring her? Is that what Eda said or had he just done it naturally? “Sorry, what?”

“King and Eda are competing to be the subject of my interview,” repeated Gus. “You want in?”

Hunter had forgotten all about being the subject of Gus’ report as he became engrossed in watching Willow sleep. Was that creepy? He didn’t mean it to be. He just felt… protective. He felt responsible. He could never fall asleep like this with anyone unless he trusted them completely. He had never fallen asleep around anyone. And he knew Willow did not have a choice in the matter but he wanted to be worthy of her trust anyway.

“Uh, no thanks maybe next time,” he said, uncharacteristically soft. “Someone should keep an eye on Willow.”

“Eh, she’s not going anywhere goldie,” said Eda as a twinkle entered her eye. “Buuuut when she does wake up, she’s probably gonna be hungry. Having the essence of your inner being threatened really takes alot out of you.”

“Oh yeah, sure,” said Hunter, looking at her in wonder. She seemed to be doing fine, but no doubt there would be brutal side effects. “Should I-.”

“Snacks! Snacks! Snacks!” chanted King.

“Oh yeah, uh I guess I could… do that,” he said softly. He wasn’t sure why he was being quiet, no one else was. But his usual tone didn’t seem fitting now. Normally, he would not take orders (or even suggestions) from civilians but if it was for Willow then it didn’t feel like succumbing to rank. It felt like helping. It felt purposeful. He carefully removed himself from Willow’s presence, mourning the loss of warmth for only a moment, and placed her comfortably on the couch. As he made his way to the kitchen, his eyes were glued to her until it was impossible to continue. Eda,King, and Gus were too occupied in their debate to notice.

Willow was going to be fine, she had to be. Everyone would be acting more worried if she wasn’t, right? She had always been strong and capable, he knew her mind couldn’t be much different. He turned his focus from concern into purpose. He wouldn’t admit it to the others, but he was thankful for the distraction. He felt foolish just sitting there not being able to do anything for her. He had never actually made something before, but how hard could it be? He had studied under the head of the Potions coven, how different was baking from that?

As he looked through Eda’s cupboards, Willow’s words echoed in his ears. Well, not all of them. There was one in particular, occupied by the way the ends of her mouth turned up as she said it that made his stomach flip.

Handsome.

No one had ever called him that before, not even ironically. Did she really think that? Why did he care so much if she did? Why, suddenly, did he want so much for her to?

Was it really suddenly though?

Ugh! Why hadn’t he said something cooler? He wasn’t sure she’d even remember saying it, but if she did he didn’t want his surprised reaction to prevent her from possibly repeating herself! He had never had issue thinking of clever retorts (though, to be fair he did do a fair deal of practicing in his bedroom mirror each night) and they often fell into a comfortable conversation. But sometimes she would say something a certain way or look at him too long and it would throw him off. Not in a bad way, no nothing at all like that, just… unexpected. She laughed at the jokes people would roll their eyes at or ask him to continue where normally he was cut off and all the little things just kept adding and piling up until Hunter didn’t know how he was supposed to carry them. She was so many little things, like the way she tilted her head when she asked him a silly question or how her glasses would slide off her edge of her knows when she got excited or the way she would stand close to him and sometimes their hands would brush like she didn’t care if they-

Focus! He thought, taking ingredients from the cabinets. There wasn’t much and what there was seemed to have no organizational system but he could resolve that after he figured out what to whip up. Something simple, something to show Willow he wanted to help. He didn’t know her well enough to enter her mind with Luz and Amity, but secretly he hoped he was getting there.

He managed to make something that resembled cookies, the smell filled the kitchen and it surprisingly wasn't an awful smell?. He remembered Willow mentioned once she was eager to get home as her father had made some and they were waiting for her. Truthfully, Hunter had never tasted a cookie but he had seen them when he walked by the bakery in town and knew the basics of their structure. Surely if he had taken a wrong turn the smell would reflect that, right? He imagined the look on Willow’s face when she saw his creation, and maybe even liked it. The flipped feeling returned to his stomach and spread through his whole chest like a wild fire when the potential look of delight on her face graced his mind.

In his efforts, he had made quite the mess. But he couldn’t help but feel pride as he quickly plated his creation, eager to return to Willow’s side. He didn’t think too much into this, he was always excited to see Willow. He tried not to think too much into that, chalking it up to the fact that she was interesting and a good listener and funny and smart and pretty and-

The point was she didn’t find him totally annoying, so why shouldn’t he enjoy her company?

And if she happened to think he was a little handsome then, well, that wasn’t the worst thing.

As he set the cookies to cool, he heard a sudden commotion from the next room. He quickly ran to see the cause, hoping it was a good sign. There was a bright flash and then he heard Luz and Amity. He stood back a moment, trying to deduce their tone before he heard Willow speak. Her voice was horse and soft, but he could tell she was back to normal. Good, he thought, feeling as though he could finally breathe again. She’s okay, she’s okay.

He went to greet her but before he could leave the kitchen, he was stopped by Luz. Before he could offer a snarky question as to what exactly she thought she was doing, she looked at him with wide, concerned eyes.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, furrowing his brow. He tried to looked past her to see what was going on. “Is she okay? Did something happen to-?”

“Willow’s fine.” she assured him, putting her arm up to stop him. “There was just some… complications.”

“What complications? Was she hurt? Does she need-?”

“No no, nothing like that but um there were some memories… we couldn’t save,” said Luz carefully.

“Like what? Did she forget something for a test she has? Because I can always-.”

“No, no uh there were more… recent memories,” Luz tried to figure out the nicest way to say this. ”Hunter, I’m sorry but we were still figuring out how things worked and it all happened so fast but… Willow doesn’t remember you.”

“What?” He felt something shatter.

“I’m so sorry, but hey, it’s an easy fix! Right? We can just introduce you now!”

“Yeah, uh I guess…” he said, looking at his current state. He had thrown on an old apron and was covered in flour, his hair a mess. This night was already so chaotic, it hardly seemed like a time Willow would want to meet someone new.

And then it dawned on Hunter: he had a second chance at a first impression.

Their first meeting had been… interesting. If you count hanging upside down by your ankle until a girl who took a wrong turn stumbles upon you helps untangle you interesting. Hunter did. But he had been so grumpy and flustered, and he wouldn’t have been had he only known who exactly had come to his rescue. She didn’t seem to care or be bothered by it, but he had come to value her opinion and he’d like to start again on the best foot possible. He had a chance for her to see him exactly as he wanted to be seen from the beginning and it felt like a chance he needed to seize.

His mind made up, he looked around for a way out before the human could return with Willow. Quickly, he climbed out the window and landed in a bush, He ducked beneath the window and pressed his back againythe wall as he heard Willow and Luz enter the kitchen,

“Huh, where did he go?” he heard Luz wonder.

“Who was this again?” Willow asked, her voice still raspy as though she was utterly exhausted.

“Uh, it’s kinda hard to explain,” Luz admitted. “But, he’ll be around again. I know he really wants to meet you!”

“Okay,” said Willow, uncertain. “If you say so.”

He couldn't help but think about the chill that went up his spine when she looked into his eyes. He didn’t understand exactly what it was but he knew it wasn’t nothing. He wanted Willow to know a better version of him. He cared what she thought. When she met him this time, he wanted it to be a meeting worth remembering.

And so for the rest of the series up until ASIAS he’s trying to work up the nerve to meet Willow again as Hunter. Just when he’s ready, he gets promoted to coven bead and that’s when I’m also promoting him to Golden Guard or maybe like Golden Guard full time. So now he has more on his plate and he gets a more advanced staff and now he’s a real threat. But of course because he’s a loser and can’t stay away from her so they do interact when he’s the Golden Guard and he has that masked confidence. He’s still getting to know her so he’ll like run into her in the market or something and flirt but didn’t realize it’s flirting and he’s planning the perfect way to “re-meet.” The whole time Willow is like bugging because there’s something so familiar about him but she doesn’t know what and the others don’t tell her because they’re like still figuring out his deal. So when he does come to Hexside during ASIAS it’s much more thought through and intentional and feelings have already been caught.

Anyway sorry for a long pointless post but that’s just been on my mind k thanks bye.

FOR THE FUTURE!!!

         Luz just wanted to be understood… SHE WANTED TO BE UNDERSTOOD!!!!!!! That’s all she wanted and it’s so SIMPLE, it’s not about a specific life goal or agenda, just something you genuinely want! Everything she did, the antics, her weirdness, was just an attempt to show herself so people could see and UNDERSTAND!

         And Camila! The way she told Luz that life is about mess-ups. A-And she told Luz that she’s also messed up, and messed up when she didn’t stand up for Luz… And LUZ REALIZED!!! I CAN’T THIS WRITING AND ARC IS TOO DAMN GOOD!!!

         Willow my babey girl this was lowkey YOUR episode too, I’d honestly tag her as the deuteragonist of For the Future! The way she tries and carries so much, has an enormous burden on what she can do, about showing weakness, about denial! THE CALLBACKS TO BOSCHA! THE PARALLELS! The way they ended off! Willow’s biggest threat being herself, this was a WILLOW episode! And how she’s allowed to show weakness because yes, her dream of wanting to protect others, and needing to be flawed, are not mutually exclusive!

         And like damn. This episode was about, for Luz and Willow, coming to terms with their flaws. Their mistakes. Their imperfections. And ultimately idealizing and accepting those parts of themselves!

         And Hunter can now teleport… Does he have all magic or just his teleportation? Or does he have other magic and only uses teleportation lol? The way he’s so deadset on trying to get back at Belos…

         IT WAS CONFIRMED THE CLAWTHORNE ARCHWAY AND GRAVESFIELD ONE ARE CONNECTED!!! And Belos… BELOS…

         He’s SO twisted, literally melting and falling apart and OH GOD NOT RAINE WHYYYY!!!! The fact that the crew actually played around with Belos trying to possess a grimwalker, only for it to not be ready… Dear god, that poor kid that could’ve been! Could’ve been a twin brother for Hunter to bond with… AND CALEB AND THE GRIMWALKER GHOSTS!!! The one Golden Guard with BIG poofy hair!

         AND KING!!! AND EDA AND LILITH!!! He saved them, he managed to make it work, he’s so clever! And his character development, the recognition that he and the Collector are the same. The Collector afraid of being judged for what his people did, but King doesn’t! But…

         WHO WAS THE WINGED PERSON IN THE VOID?!?! The Collector’s dad?! The voice we heard when Luz last visited?

         And Belos… GOD, it’s twisted seeing Belos still managing to manipulate, KNOW this kid, recoup and turn his thoughts against himself! I was afraid it’d happen and it did! Say what you will but this man may fail but he TRIES and he’s competent, terrifyingly so! Also dammit was imagining he’d possess Odalia… Imagine Amity just nuking two enemies in one blow! Willow and Amity’s friendship too…

         AND BOSCHA BOSCHA BOSCHA!!! BOSCHA ARC!!! It’s everything I’ve read and wanted, her being so desperate to be back with Amity again, needing people, so obsessed with not showing weakness and being at the top and having control! And in the end, Amity confronts that past version of herself, and also the joke about her wanting a student council but being ‘obsessed’! I loved seeing all these kids and it’s neat that Mary’s name was mentioned in the subtitles! The way they acknowledged the Eyeball girl’s past with Gus too, MWAH! And how he knew about Hunter being a Grimwalker, but wanted to give him space!

         And Hunter AND Luz recognizing the nerdery of Camila, and geeking out over it! Luz realizing her mom DOES understand…

         EDA PLAYING WITH RAINE BECAUSE SHE LIKES TO SEE THEM! God she’s so cheeky, Raine leaves her hanging at the Coven Day Parade but that doesn’t stop Eda from pestering them over Penstagram. She’s so great y’all.

         And the Collector, god I saw it coming. The fact that they’d misunderstand and realize King DID lie to them, and wants to go against them! King realizing they don’t deserve it, the fact they were so CERTAIN and trusting! And they keep being lied to and manipulated, this poor kid… God, and the setup for Belos to possess him! To take his power in a vulnerable moment and kill all witches with it!

         Belos also canonically is haunted by visions of the past… That knife had BLOOD, y’all!

         Willow worrying about her parents, and Odalia… That was surprisingly brief, but I feel that’s gonna come back to play next episode! And Kikimora and ‘Roka’, which is what I’ll call it now lol. So desperate for power she’s lording over literal children and able to hide herself as one, that’s hilarious. And the Mat Tholomule twist… But also ambiguity. And also Matt is canonically into robots.

         AND THE TWINS REUNITING!!! Edric in a full-body cast was hilarious. Also I saw Amelia and Cat and that was very deliberate as part of Boscha’s arc, I’m so happy!!!

         This was… what an AMAZING episode, it felt LONG but right! I love the focus on resolving and bringing back characters! Love Kikimora was remembered and the end credits of Boscha being lonely… She’s so messed up I love her!!! What happened to Kikimora’s dragon Princess, anyhow? At this point I’m genuinely starting to think Terra killed her as punishment for attempted defection. And RIP Terra… lol.

         STILL NO EDA KING LUZ REUNION!!! But we’re getting there, we are!!! Soon…

        Damn. Only one episode left. The LAST episode. I’m… I’m gonna miss this guys. But it’s been one hell of a ride and I don’t regret a second of it! Thanks, and see you for the finale…! Peace out!

howdy there I'm max/maxxy can you please tell me about your au (I love your ao3 story🐰✨)

Hi Max!

Thank you for sending in an ask, I love any excuse to ramble about my AU. I hope you don’t mind a somewhat lengthy text post haha.

It originally just started out as an excuse to have an au where Belos isn’t the antagonist, and Hunter has a (relatively) stable home life. I started building on it more with a friend and it sorta grew from there. So now we have a few unique things - a villainous Eda, a different introduction for King (hint: Eda never brought him back to the Boiling Isles…), and a more fleshed out backstory as to why Belos is so different from his canon counterpart. I don’t want to spoil too much on that. (I think the best way to explain my AU without delving into spoilers is to do a quick overview of the main characters.)

Hunter’s personality is more reminiscent of the Golden Guard we saw in early Season 2. He’s more snarky and witty, and extremely passionate about his job as the Golden Guard. He wants to prove to Belos that he’s capable of taking on the kinds of tasks his predecessors did, that he isn’t fragile or weak. Sure, he’s still only sixteen - but he’s also the youngest to have held the Golden Guard title.

Luz is mostly the same, however she starts off the first season being more inclined to find a way back home after a few particularly traumatic experiences. She doesn’t fall in love with the Demon Realm immediately, and ends up learning to love it over time. Unfortunately Eda keeps the Door close, even hidden - making it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for Luz and Hunter to get access to it to send Luz home.

Belos is quieter, a little more reserved. He’s not shy by any means, he’s just a tired old man who enjoys spending time with the people he views as his family. He’s a bit paranoid and extremely cautious when it comes to the well-being of everyone around him - it took Lilith years for Belos to trust her to assist him with his curse. (He refuses to burden Hunter with that). He was very clear with Hunter about his origins as a Grimwalker, though rather than wording it as “a better version of an old friend” he instead chose to frame it as though Hunter was like Caleb’s child, and he did this with each of the Grimwalkers. (He doesn’t quite understand the ethical issues with creating clones of his dead brother). Much to his surprise, a couple of Grimwalkers - including Hunter - decided to call him and interact with him as their father rather than their uncle.

I should add that there were SIGNIFICANTLY less Grimwalkers, as Belos didn’t constantly make them just to replace the last. He was careful and thoughtful with each of them, taking the time to mourn each of their deaths when they would occur. (Unfortunately, the Grimwalkers were prone to somewhat tragic deaths despite Belos’s best attempts to keep them safe.)

Eda… well Eda is a bit of a mess right now, if I’m being completely honest. The curse took its toll on her in more ways than one and she sees herself as the monster it made her. She developed some self-image issues quickly after being cursed, as well as becoming prone to violent and angry outbursts. The last straw was when Owlbert ran off after a particular incident involving Raine - and she began to convince herself that she liked people being afraid of her, that she wanted to be scary.

Willow, Gus, and Amity are still mostly the same! They have slightly different character arcs due to the fact it’s an AU of course, but there isn’t any big changes with them.

Owl House AU short story #3 - Palisman

“Today you students will get their Palisman!” Principal Bump announced. Everyone cheered. Especially Luz. Who was standing right next to Marinette. And it was really loud. She was kind of grateful Adrien wasn’t in her place with his super enhanced hearing.

“Traditionally a witch would carve their Palisman from palistrom wood.” Eda continued.

“But palistrom trees have been getting rarer and rarer.” Bump said, shaking his head.

“So today I have teamed up with bumpkins.” Eda said proudly. Principal Bump looked at Eda really annoyed but Eda pressed on. “and the Bat Queen to bring you Palisman adoption day!” Great. Sure Marinette loved palisman they were cute and powerful but why would one want to choose a mess up like her? The Bat Queen suddenly slammed onto the ground with a nest.

“Each palisman bonds with their owner through what they want to support you on.” Bat Queen said. “So tell the palisman what you want to accomplish most in life and the Palisman will choose you.” Adrien bumped up next to Marinette excitedly.

“Are you excited M’lady?” Adrien said, bouncing excitedly. Marinette smiled tiredly.

“Yah sure.” Adrien frowned and opened his mouth to ask what was wrong but Boscha interrupted him.

“I want to make my own palisman! Not get a hand me down!” Boscha said grumpily with her arms crossed.

“Your loss!” Willow said, pushing through Boscha. Marinette smiled amused. Willow crouched down at the edge of the nest and looked at all of the palisman crowding around excitedly. “I want to be strong and wise to protect the people I love and if people don’t like that then they’ll feel the sting of defeat.” Willow said happily.

“Tender yet tenacious! Clover gives her support.” Bat Queen said, opening up her wing. A little bee flew out of the nest and swirled around Willow while buzzing. It turned into a staff and everyone gasped. Adrien and Luz especially. It seemed like they were the most excited.

“I’m going to take such good care of you!” Willow said rubbing her palisman she stepped out of the way. Boscha took a step forward but Adrien pushed her back.

“Hey!” She exclaimed angry.

“You said you didn’t want one.” Adrien said, smiling mischievously. Marinette could hear some girls swooning behind her, Marinette groaned but gave her attention to only Adrien. He crouched down on the edge of the nest and looked at the little palisman excitedly. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. “I want to be able to control my own life and not let other people tell me what to do.” Adrien said calmly. Marinette smiled affectionately.

“A rebellious teen who just wants freedom! Plagg understands that feeling!” Adrien watched excitedly as a little black cat floated out of the nest. It yawned once and then zoomed around Adrien’s head. It stopped and blew a raspberry at him and Adrien stuck out his tongue teasingly at it. Plagg turned into a staff and Adrien stood up in awe then walked back to his spot next to Marinette. He tore his eyes away from Plagg and looked up at her with such a big smile. Marinette’s heart skipped a beat and she could feel her face heat up. But she returned the smile. She turned back to the nest to find Gus walking back to his spot with a little blue chameleon. “Who would like to go next?” Bat Queen asked, looking around. Everyone seemed lost in her thoughts trying to think of something to say. “What about you with the long blond hair?” Bat Queen asked. Star looked surprised but shook her head.

“Sorry I would but my family has a palisman that's passed down from generation to generation.” Star said, holding up her staff with the little blue man on top. Marinette remembered Star had called him Glossaryck? Everyone said ‘ooo’ and ‘ahh’. But the Bat Queen’s attention turned to Marinette and Marinette jolted.

“Why don’t you, with the blue hair, go next?” Bat Queen said, waving Marinette over. Marinette stood there frozen. Her? She wants her to go next? She couldn’t go next. She wasn’t sure if- Adrien jabbed her in the stomach. Turning her attention to him.

“It’s your turn M’lady.” Adrien said a little concerned. Marinette took a deep breath and stepped forward. She crouched down and looked at the palismans gathering around her. She felt like she was going to throw up. What was she thinking? None of them were going to choose her. She started to hyperventilate a little. Then she took another deep breath. She started shaking a little.

“I-I’m not quite sure what I I want but I do know that I want to help as many people as I can.” Marinette whispered softly.

“A kind soul that just needs to build up her confidence. Tikki can be a great help for you.” Bat Queen said thoughtfully. A little ladybug flew out of the nest and floated next to Marinette. The ladybug- Tikki -hugged Marinette’s cheek then turned into a staff and plopped into Marinette’s hands. Marinette sat there shocked. The Bat Queen leaned in and Marinette looked up. “A good thing to know about Tikki is that Tikki and Plagg are connected by their powers.” The Bat Queen whispered knowing what she was saying. Marinette gasped, glancing at Adrien. Then Marinette stood up and walked back to her spot. Marinette didn’t even hear Marco or Sasha or Marcy get their Palisman. She was too shocked about the fact that she actually got a palisman. She started laughing in shock. Then she smiled holding Tikki close. She promised she would take the best care of Tikki she could. She looked up just in time to see Luz walk up to the nest.

first Owl Fight attack, woo! The prompt for this one was “Luz and Raine hanging out”

Summary: Free of Kikimora's control, with scars carved into their skin, Raine is taken back to the Owl House. Awake in the middle of the night, unable to sleep after their whole ordeal, they officially meet Luz. Talking to one of Eda's kids really shouldn't be as intimidating as it feels.

When Raine first saw the kids, truly and consciously, there were thorns retreating from their eyes and scars etched onto their skin as Eda held them tightly.

Eda’s sclera had turned black, hands hooked into talons with wings arched over their heads, and was at least two feet taller than when they had last seen her. And there had been a lot to ask about there, and possibly some gawking, but this isn’t about that.

Because as soon as Raine could stand, Eda holding their hands tightly and almost brought to tears at how relieved she was to see them alright, to know there would be no more harm done to them, Raine noticed the two figures far across from them, holding back the few guards trying to intervene.

They recognized them quickly, from the photo that had twisted a hole into their chest, because Eda had kids and she had spoken of them with such desperation and love--

The girl had turned, and Raine knew then they hadn’t been imagining the round ears when they first saw the photo. She had the young demon they recognized earlier clinging to her back, and they both looked at Raine with confusion. The demon’s had been accusatory, but the humans, she had to be a human, looked nothing but curious.

It had all passed by in a blur, the escape from the guards and Eda bundling them into the Owl House, frantic as she continued to check them over, never slowing in her talking as the wings and sharp edges retreated back into her body, which Raine may have quietly mourned the loss of. They suited her.

The human and demon had watched from the background, occasionally offering assistance towards or around the two, but more or less giving them space as Eda fretted and explained all she could to Raine, clinging like she was afraid if she didn’t, Raine would vanish again.

They heard of what Kikimora had done to them, of what Belos had done to them, of what they had done. Of Eda’s acceptance of the curse, of the rest of the BATs being in the Conformatorium (something they both agreed on fixing as soon as they could), of everything that Eda could think to catch them up on.

There would be time to unpack all of that, to formulate plans, to talk about everything beyond what Raine had missed out on. But that could wait until another day, could wait until Raine had gotten rest, and a moment to reorient themselves.

And yet, they still found themself in Eda’s kitchen, nearing midnight, with a cup of tea that looked suspiciously like the one Lilith had liked in their hands.

They knew they should be asleep, it was late, and knowing Eda, there would be far more to fret about in the morning. Eda had offered her nest, but Raine had taken the couch, not exactly willing to voice their opinion on how Eda’s nest did not look comfortable.

They were thankful for it later, too, when they awoke after barely an hour of sleep with the feeling of vines wrapped around their throat and muffled, begging cries as their hands moved of their own accord.

They sighed and slumped against the counter, setting down the cup for a moment to rub at their wrist, where scars from the reaching thorns still lay. They faded the further the scars stretched up their body, but they figured the ones along their wrist and arm would last for the rest of their life.

It wasn’t too bad, a scar was really the best thing they could’ve asked for. They stared down at their tea, thoughts swirling and not even bothering to try and sort any of them out. Later, when their wrist didn’t have a phantom ache.

“Oh, hey.”

Raine startled, almost knocking their cup over as they whirled their head around.

The human stood in the doorway, looking a bit surprised at Raine’s reaction. She had clearly just woken up, hair a frizzy mess and eyes still blinking with sleep.

“Oh, um, hello.” Raine said, forcing themself to relax. “Sorry, is there something you need?” They asked, wrapping a hand around their tea.

“I just came here for a snack,” The human shrugged, breezing right by the counter and towards the cabinets. 

Raine nodded, mostly just to themself, and went back to staring into space, trying to pretend the awkward tension hadn’t suddenly arisen.

They realized after a moment that the girl had paused in what she was doing, hand still in the cabinet door, but taking nothing out. They looked up for a moment, and caught the girl watching them with a contemplative look on her face until she realized she had been staring and jerked back to shuffling through the cabinets.

“So,” Raine said, in some attempt to break the tension, leaning their arms across the counter. “You’re Eda’s kid?” They said, grimacing slightly at how off that had come off sounding.

“Er, yeah,” The human said, frowning at the cabinet before shutting it again and opening a different one. “And you’re...Raine.”

“You’ve heard of me, then?” Raine guessed, taking a sip of their tea.

“Vaguely,” The human admitted, opening another cabinet door. “I know you’re--er, were, the head of the Bard Coven. I know Eda mentioned some group called the BATs you lead. I know that...Eda knows you.” She said, voice becoming more mumbly as she spoke.

“Ah, Eda didn’t speak of me much, then?” Raine inquired, telling themself that they shouldn't really be surprised.

“Not until you, uh, had the whole...thing happening.” The girl nodded. “Then Eda got really worried and me and King asked why she was so worked up, and then she told us you were an old friend, which I maybe halfway trust, and that you had this group with the BATs...and I still don’t think I understand it completely.” She admitted with a sheepish look.

“Sounds like Eda.” Raine chuckled, shaking their head slightly as they smiled down at their tea. “Wait, halfway trust?” They added right after, back straightening.

“I mean, I trust you mean a lot to Eda,” The human said, her raiding of the cabinets forgotten. “And I trust Eda means a lot to you,” Raine did not flush at that, thank you. “But pretty much everyone Eda knows she has a very complicated relationship with, and I’d be surprised if you were the one exception.”

“Ah,” Raine said, rubbing the back of their neck. Is this what it felt like to be interrogated by a kid? “You got me there. We haven’t...seen each other in a while.” They admitted.

���How long?” The human asked, interest sparking in her eyes as she leaned next to the cabinets.

“Erm, two...maybe two and half decades?” Raine said, lifting a hand and tilting it. “Titan, it sounds much longer than it feels when I say it out loud.” They murmured.

“Oooh, another piece of the mysterious backstory!” The human grinned, perking up, all the hesitation from earlier melting away at a probably concerning speed. “Why’d ya stop talking?”

“Ah, well, you know,” Raine said, flushing again as their ears pressed back. “Just...a split, really. Seeing other people. Eda had some things she still needed to work out, and I suppose I had to reflect a bit, too.” They mumbled.

“Wait,” The girl narrowed her eyes, and when Raine focused on where she was again, they pulled back when they realized Luz was on the other side of the counter. “Are you one of her exes?” She gasped, eyes wide.

“Oh dear,” Raine sighed, face falling in their hands.

“You are!” The girl exclaimed, and they sincerely hoped it didn’t wake anyone else up. “Man, and I thought all her exes hated her from how she talked about some of them.” She whistled. “Explains a bit, though.”

“Is that so?” Raine mumbled, knowing that they were blushing up to their ears.

“Yeah, I mean, explains why she seemed so freaked out. She's gotta know you pretty well.” The human said casually. “She goes all out when she gets attached, as I’m sure you know.” She added with a light tease.

“Oh, I know.” Raine sighed, memories of holding back a feral Eda back in Hexside from mauling Odalia still vivid in their mind. “And, since we’re talking, I apologize, but,” They said, raising their head from their hands when they were sure they didn’t look like they’d had a nasty sunburn across their face. “I don’t believe I...caught your name.”

“Eda didn’t mention it?” The human blinked, graciously taking the change in conversation.

“She might’ve, but I’ll be honest, I caught maybe two of every five words she said.” Raine admitted, flicking an ear. “I’m sorry, but I figure I should ask now before it turns into something where I ask at a much worse moment.”

“Ah, don’t worry about it,” The human waved her hand. “You went through a lot. My name’s Luz.” She said cheerfully, offering a hand. “The other little guy is King.”

Raine blinked at it for a moment before reaching out and taking it, giving a single shake until Luz pulled back. She was practically rocking on her heels from how excited she seemed, and Raine may have allowed a small half-smile in return.

“Have you lived with Eda long?” Raine asked, because they could still remember Eda’s pained explanation that the kids weren’t hers hers, and found themself wondering where in the world she had picked up a human.

“Few months,” Luz said. “Four, maybe? I dunno, the calendars here are different from the human realm.”

“Four months?” Raine blinked, surprised. “I would’ve thought you’d known her longer.”

“Nah, I’m just a recent addition.” Luz shrugged, looking away with a hint of nervousness. “King’s been here for years, though.”

“Huh, odd.” Raine said with a shrug as they went back to drinking their tea. “You act a lot like her, I would’ve thought you’d have picked up those habits from her.”

“I do?” Luz repeated, straightening.

“Yes?” Raine lowered their cup. “When she was younger, at least. Very curious, couldn’t leave any questions unanswered. And stubborn. And maybe a little too attentive for her own good.” They added with a lighthearted tone.

“Oh, yeah, that-that sounds familiar.” Luz coughed into her fist, and Raine smiled at her embarrassment. “You knew her when you were younger, then?” She asked, and Raine chose not to comment on the slight diversion in conversation.

“Since Hexside,” Raine nodded. “I want to say we were eleven or so? Maybe twelve. Never had a moment of peace since.”

“Aw, Eda’s backstory just keeps getting more and more convoluted. At least yours isn’t as crazy as Lilith or her moms. Even after the whole mind-control thing.” Luz said with a fiery curiosity in her eyes, and Raine was impressed at their lack of visible reaction to how casually Luz brought up the mind-control. Another thing like Eda, Raine thought. No amount of answers would be satisfactory, and treated every odd thing like it was just another day.

“Well, I’m glad I got her daughter's approval. Wouldn’t want to fight my way in now, would I?” Raine chuckled, tilting their cup back and finishing the last of it.

When they lowered their cup again, Luz was staring at them like a spooked rabbit, hands gripping the counter. They blinked slowly, brow raised in confusion.

“I-I’m not,” Luz stuttered, coughing to clear her throat and forcibly releasing the counter. “I’m not her daughter, you thought I was her daughter?”

“You aren’t?” Raine frowned, ears perking up. “But you said you were her kid.”

“That’s--I thought you meant--like when Eda just casually calls me and and King kids, or when I’m out with my friends and she’s watching us we’re just ‘her kids,’ you know?” Luz said, looking a little frantic as she did so, wildly waving her hands around. “Not--no I’m not, related to her or anything--”

“Oh, I knew that.” Raine brushed it off. “But Eda told me you and King were her kids?”

“I--when did that happen?” Luz asked, near sounding like a demand.

Raine hesitated, for a brief moment. They doubted someone like Eda would so casually tell a teenager and young demon about that time she, you know, almost died, and it really wasn’t their place to tell them as such if she hadn’t.

“The last time we spoke.” They settled on. “Before the...thing.” They said, mimicking Luz’s words from earlier. “I learned she had kids, and I told her that if she had something to lose, she had to get back to them.”

“I...oh.” Luz said quietly, slowly relaxing and turning her head down to stare at the counter.

“I’m…” Raine hesitated. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to overstep, I didn’t know it was a touchy subject--”

“No, no! It’s not, you’re fine.” Luz waved them off. “I just...didn’t know Eda had said it like that.”

Raine would’ve thought something along the lines of ‘Eda didn’t tell you she thought of you as her kid?’ if they didn’t know that Eda was the same person who hadn’t even truly thought of them as dating until Raine had introduced her as their girlfriend with earshot. She’d been so touched over the whole ordeal that Raine had to remind her, repeatedly, that they had been dating for over a month. Apparently knowing, and having a title for it, were two very different things.

They wouldn’t be surprised if this kid was the same. 

“She cares about you, you know that, right?” Raine asked softly, and Luz looked up to meet their eyes.

“Yeah,” She said, cracking a small smile. “I know.”

Raine nodded in satisfaction, stepping around the counter to set their cup in the sink. It was late, they could wash it in the morning. How Eda could've ever thought about leaving a kid like her, they don't think they'd want to know.

“She cares about you, too.”

Raine paused, going still as one hand lightly gripped the edge of the sink.

“I know,” They said, almost surprised that they believed it so easily, inhaling as they set their shoulders back. “It’s almost scary how little that seems to have changed.” They mumbled.

“For the both of you, huh?” Luz teased.

Raine whirled around, ears pressed back as their face lit up again, being greeted with the girl's smug face that she had to have picked up from Eda, it was almost uncanny. 

“I--you--she just--there was--shouldn’t you be asleep at this hour?” Raine managed to strangle out, getting a gleeful giggle out of Luz as they did so.

“I got hungry,” Luz shrugged simply, her smug expression never falling.

“Then grab a snack and go to bed.” Raine huffed, crossing their arms, as if that would hide the embarrassment as they stepped aside.

“I will, once I find where Eda put the cookies. She keeps hiding them from King and doesn’t tell me where she put them.” Luz muttered, stepping up to the cabinets again and opening a new one.

“I think that means she’s hiding them from both of you.” Raine raised a brow.

“She should find better hiding spots, then.” Luz said, retracting a hand from the cabinet with a container full of cookies in her hand, shaking them. “Cover for me if she asks why some went missing?” She asked, a pleading look on her face.

“I’ll cover you if one goes missing.” Raine bargained, and Luz gave them a disgruntled look before sighing and taking a single cookie from the container.

“Can’t believe you.” Luz huffed good-naturedly, putting the cookies away.

“Just because you're Eda’s kid doesn’t mean I’m going to let you get away with everything, Titan knows how Eda would’ve ended up if that happened.” They muttered, shaking their head. “I fear the day you and Amber meet.”

“Who?” Luz tilted her head, taking a large bite of her cookie.

“One of my crew, she’s about your age.” Raine said simply. “I think you’ll get along. Now go, shoo, I’m willing to bet tomorrow will be quite hectic, and you need your sleep.” They said, herding Luz out of the kitchen.

“I’m going, I’m going!” Luz said, smiling as she lightly batted at Raine’s hands, darting out of the kitchen. “Remember, you saw nothing.” She warned, walking backwards as she narrowed her eyes on Raine.

“Lips are sealed, I was fast asleep the whole night.” Raine said, leaning against the doorway to the kitchen. “Though I figure she’ll find out, anyway.”

“Yeah, but I’ve got backup now.” Luz said, shoving the last half of the cookie in her mouth before slipping away through the doorway that led to the staircase.

Raine chuckled, shaking their head as they pushed themself off of the doorway. They should probably hit the couch again, too. Eda would only fret more if they were falling asleep all day tomorrow.

“Oh, almost forgot!” Luz said, head suddenly poking through the doorway and causing Raine to pause. “Welcome to the Owl House,” She said cheerily. “Since I take it you’ll be staying a while.”

Raine’s ears flicked back and they mumbled under their breath as Luz’s smile only widened, and Raine couldn’t help but mirror it.

“Night!” She chirped, vanishing around the corner yet again.

Raine watched the place where she’d vanished again, rubbing their wrist and noting it didn’t ache as much as before. 

“Goodnight,” They said to the empty air.

PolySpeaks: Lumity Confession

A number of people have probably already expressed similar thoughts as the ones I am going to present here. But I wanted to take the chance to jot things down in my own way. (images pending)

From Amity’s perspective, she’s so frustrated yet so head over heels for Luz and she doesn’t understand how it’s possible for her to love the person who has totally turned her world upside down. This isn’t to say that Luz ruined Amity’s life. I think we can all agree Luz has just made her life better. As Emira says to her, “Is that such a bad thing? You weren’t happy before. Ed, don’t pick, you’ll make it worse.”

But from Luz’s perspective, she has just screwed up so bad. And she is well aware of her terrible track record for these things. And from the way she curls up when Amity interrupts her apology, I believe she either A) was thinking “Okay, Luz, here it comes again. And you know it’s gonna hurt” or B) “Usually people let me finish my apology. But I just messed up so bad that Amity can’t wait to lay it all on me.”

Also, this season has shown how Luz has become more responsible and capable. Season 1 Luz was always running to Eda to bail her out. Season 2 Luz is all about being the one to help others out of trouble. “Separate Tides” did a fantastic job of nailing that home—Luz trying to make the money for the Owl House rather than being the primary investment of it. “Escaping Expulsion” had her putting herself on the line for her friends, only this time she went in truly alone. She didn’t rope anyone else into it. Eda’s conversation with Luz in “Separate Tides” and her back to back with Amity during “Escaping Expulsion” served to remind her that all this “alone” business wasn’t helping anyone either.

So back to the “confession,” Luz feels like she was on the verge of losing a friend. She can’t bear it, so she pulls her hair back into Grom mode. And I will say that I adore that they made that callback. I can see Luz pulling her hair back into Grom mode becoming her signature “no more messing around” mode. She marches back into the library and reclaims Amity’s honor job. And she returns to Blight Manor fully prepared for another round of Amity’s frustration. That’s why she is so quick to accept that Amity probably never wants to see her again.

The Kiss

Amity kissing Luz is Amity basically becoming confident enough to approach Luz at last. And it also was her finally reigning in all these conflicting emotions she has about liking Luz. She realizes that maybe liking Luz, despite all the calamity she brings with her, isn’t so bad after all. She kisses Luz on the cheek. And it filled my heart with so much joy seeing that Amity doesn’t think twice about it. It shows how she feels that, yes, this is okay, and this is alright.

When I first started watching the show, I thought Luz was just the weird girl in school. But now I see, after how having just a few friends on the Boiling Isles is something way more than she ever got in the Human Realm, she really, really was an outcast. I might have been projecting myself onto Luz when Camilla asked her if she had any real friends. Personally, I’m used to not having friends and it doesn’t usually bother me much. For me, not having many friends is just normal and doesn’t hurt as bad. But it definitely is a tough thing for Luz.

What is Luz’s reaction? Keep in mind that Luz probably has had many crushes before and probably never been crushed on by anyone or has ever had her feelings reciprocated. She was probably bullied or outcasted at her human school. Most people are used to being liked by 3 out of 4 people and dismiss the fourth person who doesn’t like them. For Luz, I speculate it is the inverse: she is used to 3 out of 4 people not liking her and a rare, brief instance of 1 person actually liking her. So she naturally is still hooked on the idea that Amity never wants to see her again. Getting a “bad ending” is normal for her. Technically she has not even received confirmation that Amity still wants to be her friend. They got distracted by the hair, the siblings, and the rat.

So what does the kiss do for her? 1) It negates her notion that Amity has already decided to stop being her friend. 2) It proves that people can INDEED like her and forgive her. 3) It proves that her efforts were not in vain. 4) For once, her crush on someone did not end in disaster. 5) In fact, somebody actually likes her back. Somebody likes her back enough that they make the first real move on her. All these things collide against each other at once. Luz visibly cannot react to all these 5 truths she just learned. She can only gasp. And when Amity bids her “farewell forever,” Luz is still processing. And her knees fail her because of just how much is racing through her heart and through her mind.

Me, two days later: Actually--

Context: Shortly after the attempt to execute Eda

“Hey. Luz. I’m sorry. About what happened in the dungeon.”

Luz shrugged. “It’s okay.”

“No, it’s not.” Hunter slid out from under their glider, taking off his goggles and sitting up. “You needed me. And I… stood aside.”

Luz turned away, fiddling with some loose gears. “You’re the prince of the Isles. You have duties, obligations, you’re supposed to be the perfect prince, and we’re—we’re a side entertainment—I get it.”

“No. I should have put you and Eda first—you’re my friends.”

“Then why didn’t you?!” The words burst out of Luz’s throat, and she turned to face him. “We’re friends, or at least I think we are, and you’re always there in a pinch when the glider malfunctions, or something breaks down, so why didn’t you help when we really, really, really needed you?!” She scrubbed tears away from her eyes. “I know that you have to be one thing for Belos, and you’re another thing for us, but…”

Hunter’s hands fidgeted, like he wished there was some puzzle or set of gears in them to distract him. “I’m sorry,” he said again, “I—you’re right. I should have stood up for you—I mean, he knows, apparently he’s known this whole time, he probably knows what I’m up to right now, it’s not like I would have been outing myself, I just… I froze.” He flopped back on his creeper, putting his hands over his eyes. “I just watched. And I was hoping the whole time that someone else would step in—and they did—but I know that doesn’t make anything better.” He dragged his hands down his face, leaving smears of oil and dirt behind. Hardly the proper prince that had looked away.

“How much does this—me, Eda, the racing—how much does it mean to you, Hunter? Are we just a distraction from your royal life, like Belos said?”

“No. No, you’re not. And… it’s just… hard, you know? It was all happening so fast, and Uncle was right there, and Eda was… it’s just hard. To try to pick. He’s my family.”

“And Eda’s mine.”

“I know.” Hunter shook his head. “I’ve… I know it doesn’t make up for what I did, but I’ve talked with him since. He said he’d leave you guys alone if I… kept you out of trouble.”

“You mean if you spied on us.”

“Yeah, basically.”

“Are you going to?”

“I don’t want to.”

“But are you going to?”

“Probably not,” Hunter admitted, “I mean, what am I even going to report?” He puffed up his chest. “Hi, Uncle Belos, today I fixed a glider in the Owl House garage while a rebellion brewed in the next room! No idea what they were saying, because I have gears-for-brains, and I was busy messing around in the undercarriage of a semi-illegal machine! Are you proud of me?” He shook his head, deflating. “I understand if you don’t trust me anymore, though.” A bitter smile crossed his face. “At least now you know that you can’t count on me when you get in trouble.”

Luz pushed his creeper back and forth with her foot with a tiny grin. “But I can count on you to fix my glider?”

Hunter kicked his feet and shot back under the machine, out of her reach. Clicking and banging resumed. “Yeah,” he replied, voice muffled, “You can count on me for that.”

There are many things Luz admits she doesn’t understand.  She can’t figure out how cars work, and she’s not so sure about long division.  But, she thinks, as she watches her girlfriend chop up vegetables in the fading light of the setting sun, some things she does understand.  

“How did you get so good at this?” Luz asks, stepping closer to peer over Amity’s shoulder.  Every cut is perfect, each individual piece almost exactly like the one before.  It makes sense.  It is so Amity.

“Don’t get excited,” Amity warns, tipping the vegetables into a pot of boiling water.  “This is all I know how to cook.  I had a chef growing up.”  She blushes brightly, and Luz grins.  Amity blushing has become one of her Top Five Favorite Things, right under Azura and above Hexside.  

Amity herself, of course, is above them all.

“Sorry,” Amity says sheepishly.  “I didn’t mean to sound spoiled or anything, it’s just- my parents don’t cook, and they don’t have time to-”

“Amity.  It’s fine.”  Luz laughs, and Amity’s blush intensifies.  Luz is about to say something about it when Eda bursts into the room with all the subtlety of a hurricane.  “Look what I foooound,” she sings, proudly presenting something extremely dusty and unidentifiable.  Luz and Amity raise their eyebrows in unison.  

“Uh, what is it?” Luz asks.

“It’s a human-” Eda pauses.  “Okay, I’ll admit, I have absolutely no idea what it is.  But it’s cool looking and I like it.” “Another human treasure? Lemme see!”

“Suit yourself,” Eda says, and hands it over.  

The thing is heavier than Luz expected, and she grunts as she puts it down quickly on the kitchen table.

“Dang, Owl Lady, you’ve got strong arms,” she says.  

“I work out,” Eda responds, flexing her muscles.

Amity and Luz look at each other, and then at Eda.  They blink.

“Fine,” Eda says.  “Buzzkills. I don’t work out. You caught me, congratulations.”  She stalks out of the kitchen, muttering something about “dumb kids and their dumb honesty”.

Luz snorts and turns her attention back to the thing on the counter.  “Let’s see what we’ve got here,” she says, and blows the dust off.  Once the cloud clears, the thing begins to take shape, and Luz squeals.  “A record player! With a record on it!  This is amazing! My mom has one of these back home!”

“Record player?” Amity says.  “What does it do?”

Luz grins, always happy to show off her human knowledge.  “I’ll show you,” she says, and sets the pin on the groove of the record.  It’s silent for a moment, but then a slow tune echoes through the room.  There are no words in the song, and Luz has no idea who wrote it, but she’s in awe.

“Wow,” Amity says, echoing Luz’s thoughts.  “It’s beautiful.”

“Yeah,” Luz agrees, completely entranced by the melody.  Once the song fades away and the next one starts, she gets an idea.  She regards Amity out of the corner of her eye, gathers her courage, and says “Amity Blight, may I have this dance?”

Surprise flashes across Amity’s face, but she recovers impressively quickly.

“I thought you’d never ask.”  

She reaches out her hand and Luz takes it, gently guiding Amity to the middle of the kitchen.  Amity hesitantly puts her arm around Luz’s waist, pulling her closer, as Luz puts a hand on Amity’s shoulder.  It feels familiar, and when they start swaying around the kitchen, Amity starts to laugh.

“What? What’s so funny? Did I do something?”

“No, no,” Amity says, tightening her hold around Luz’s waist.  “It’s just...this is so different from our first dance together.”

“Our first...oh, you mean Grom!”

Amity takes a step backwards, and Luz follows, trying not to trip over her own feet.  

“Yes I mean Grom!”

They dance in silence for a moment, moonlight shining through the window.  

“Hey,” Luz starts, not sure if she wants the answer to the question she’s about to ask. “Who did you wanna take to Grom, anyway?”

Amity stares blankly at her for a few seconds, and for a moment Luz is worried she said something out of turn.  But then she smiles softly, so softly that Luz’s heart does a funny thing in her chest, and she’s pretty sure that, for a second, she can’t breathe.

“It was you, Luz,” Amity says quietly.  “It was always you.”

Luz stops dancing.  She stops blinking.  She stops breathing.

“Uh, Luz?” Amity says, sounding worried.  “Are you okay?”

Luz blinks, comes back into herself, and says “YOU WERE GOING TO ASK ME TO GROM????”

“Yes? Why is that a surprise? You know I...like you.” Amity blushes again.  They’re still not used to saying these things out loud to each other.  It’s a process.  

This time, Luz blushes too.  “Yeah, but like..that long??? You’ve liked me since Grom???”

“Since before Grom, actually,” Amity admits, looking down at the floor.  “It’s...it’s been a long time.”

Luz’s grip on Amity’s shoulder slackens, then tightens again.”Wow,” she says, breathless.  “Me.  You’ve liked me for months.  You!!!”

Amity giggles.  “Me,” she agrees.  

Luz knows that the smile on her face is sappy, but she can’t help it.  She just likes Amity so much it’s overwhelming sometimes.  

They begin to sway again, and Luz feels like she’s in a trance.  She can’t believe that one person can make her feel this happy.  It’s like magic.

“So,” Amity says, cutting into Luz’s inner monologue, “When was it for you?”

“Huh?”

“When did you start to like me?”  

Amity manages, with what looks like supreme willpower, not to blush this time.  Luz does not manage the same.

“O-oh,” Luz says, thinking back to all the times she made a fool of herself in front of Amity before they’d started dating.  “I don’t know? I mean, I realized it that time you saved my life, but I think I’ve probably liked you for a lot longer than that. Maybe even before Grom.”

“Which time?”

“What?”

“Which time?  I save your life a lot,” Amity smirks.  Luz rolls her eyes.  “Okay, fair,” she says.  “But I mean that time at your parents’ presentation.  Right after you...when you called me “my Luz.”

“Oh, no, you heard that?” Amity looks extremely embarrassed as she leans forward and hides her face in Luz’s shoulder.  Luz tries not to smell her hair.  She fails.

“Of course I heard that!” She says when she’s done.  “You practically screamed it out loud to a room full of strangers!”

“I did, didn’t I? Wow, I was so obvious!”

Luz rubs the back of her neck sheepishly.  “I didn’t notice.”

“What??? How???” Amity asks, picking her head up to look Luz in the eye.  “I was a complete mess in front of you for months! What did you think was happening?”

Luz shrugs.  “I just thought you were cute, that’s all.  In hindsight, though, maybe I should’ve picked up some context clues.”

Amity snorts.  “It’s okay.  You being oblivious saved me a ton of embarrassment.  Until I kissed you on the cheek.  That..uh….that was not planned.”

Luz can’t stop the smile that takes over her face.  She remembers that day well.  She was so focused on finding Phillip’s diary entries and also not making a fool of herself in front of Amity, that she was taken completely by surprise when Amity kissed her.  She’s pretty sure she literally fell to the floor afterwards, overwhelmed with the fact that Amity had just kissed her and suddenly realizing that maybe, just maybe, her crush liked her too.  

“Well I’m glad you did,” she says gently, twirling Amity around once, twice, three times.  “I think it’s time for me to return the favor.”

“What do you-”

Before she can think about it long enough to stop herself, Luz leans in and kisses Amity on the cheek.  

The world freezes.  

Amity looks at her, and she looks at Amity, and Luz’s eyes are so wide, and Amity’s mouth is hanging slightly open, and suddenly Luz is completely, entirely unsure of herself.  Her confidence is gone, and suddenly she can hear the ghost of laughter and “Ew, why would anyone want her?” And she realizes she’s made a horrible mistake.  

“U-um sorry I-” She stutters, but can’t get a sentence out, until finally she manages “I’m gonna leave now.”

She backs up slowly until her back hits the door, and is about to turn the handle when Amity says “Luz, this is your house.”

“Drat,” Luz says, slapping a hand to her face.  “You’re right.”

Amity giggles, hand covering her mouth to stifle her laughter.  She’s bright red but so is Luz, and suddenly Luz is laughing too.

They laugh together for what seems like hours, until finally they manage to subdue themselves, tears in both their eyes.

“Hey,” Amity says softly, once the giggles have stopped.  “Come here.”

Luz complies, stepping around the table and over Ghost, who has an unidentifiable animal in her mouth.  When she finally reaches Amity, she finds herself pulled into a bone crushing hug.  Startled but pleased, she squeezes back, marvelling at the fact that she has the most perfect girl in the world in her arms.  

“Look,” Amity says, still wrapped up in the hug.  “I know we’re both new at this, and it’s kind of scary, but you don’t have to run away every time you kiss me on the cheek or something.  You have nothing to be afraid of, okay? You’re my girlfriend, and I’m not gonna stop liking you.”

Luz sniffles a little and squeezes harder.  “You don’t...you don’t think I’m too much?”

“Luz,” Amity says.  “I could never get enough of you.”  

They stand there like that, swaying slightly in the single stripe of moonlight that comes through the window.  When they part, it’s with a sigh, and a silent promise that they’ll come together again.  

“Thanks,” Luz says, eyes rimmed red.  “You’re a pretty awesome girlfriend.”

Amity smiles.  “I know.” 

Then she shrugs shyly.  “And if you ever want to kiss me again...I wouldn’t be opposed.”

“Noted,” Luz says weakly.  She thinks her knees might give out, actually.

When it’s time for Amity to go, Luz walks her to the door, like the gentleman she is.  “Goodnight,” she says, trying to ignore Hooty loudly digesting a mouse.  She doesn’t want to think about where his stomach even is.

“Goodnight,” Amity says.

They smile dumbly at each other, neither wanting to be the first one to leave.  But Amity needs to get home, and the night is moving quickly, so they reluctantly part ways.  Amity turns to wave at Luz when she reaches the end of the Owl House’s property, and Luz waves back, stars in her eyes and a breathless wonder at the fact that this girl, this amazing, brilliant, perfect girl, is hers.  

There are many things Luz doesn’t understand.  

But this, what she and Amity have, the bond she feels growing stronger and stronger every day they spend together; this she does understand.

She closes the door.  She doesn’t know what tomorrow will bring, but she knows that as long as she has Amity by her side, everything will be okay.

I have a AU idea What if Philip is belos and What if belos is partially possession by the Titan or the whispering cubes things and he's the first to die.

I am strongly dyslexic and English is not my first language.

Philip's brother edward (I'm going to call him that) drags Philip back to the human realm to try to find cure for his curse Edward has no evil intention he loves his brother but he's kind of like Eda's mom who doesn't quite understand that they can live with it

but nothing seems to work and what we could see from yesterday's lies the curse doesn't break just because you're in the human world

Edward has the key he won't let Philip have it and Philip once to return back home to the boiling isles from the lack of sleep and frustration over everything Edward takes his anger out on his brother

He said some things he shouldn't have said nor did he mean them he storms out of the house to cool down leaving Philip all alone with the bird and the spider palismen Philip distraught starts turning into a goop monster but he managed to get his potion in time still crying he really does think that Edward hates him rascal with a angry expression flies after his master to knock some sense into him

Unfortunately someone had heard the commotion and went over to investigate and seeing Philip little goopy outburst and runs off to inform people

Meanwhile out in the forest Edward is now hitting his head against the tree angry at himself for the things he said to Philip rascal found him and started to pick at his head telling him that he really hurt Philip

Saddened by this Edward heads home halfway he see there were no people around he noticed footprints in the mud looking like they're dragging someone from his house he looks to where the tracks leads and see smoke

when he gets closer he can sees what's happening runs to try and save Philip but the townsfolk grabs him and pulls him back and from the way that edward is behaving townsfolk believe That he must be under the demons control and he'll be set free once it's dead

The sun starts to go down and there's only ash and skull left

they take the remains into the church I think that's the building that was set on fire?

the town is dark and people are sleeping except for edward he waited until it was dark and quiet and sneaks out of his house to the church to retrieve his brothers remains sets the building on fire and leaves four the demon realm

they have a house somewhere on the boiling isles once edward gets inside he collapses hugs the bag with the remains of Philip And just starts crying as he's breakdown mind you in the human realm he didn't really cry it only shed a few tears he hadn't the time to process what happened but now he has and of course his palismen tries to comfort him

I was thinking that maybe out of shame and guilt and fear that he didn't try to get in contact with his which friends and left to find a place to bring Philip back to life

edward makes a grimwalker to put his brother soul into and I don't know he finds some way make the body the same age as Philip were before his death

edward somehow messed up maybe put something into the creation of the grimwalker that contains a little bit of the Titans soul or that slimy from whispering cubes

He managed to seal his brother in the building he was created in and edward vow to find a way to help him Edward may have started a family while searching maybe he died of old age maybe he died on one of his search

Meanwhile Philip is stuck in a building with voices in his head and goes crazy After maybe 200 300 years he breaks out He's just a raging monster searching for a meal a which or palismen it did not matter once he becomes more sane as much as you can with voices in your head

He finds a village of course the inhabitants get scared away but that town has a statue of edward.

Abomination Coven:

.Pretty neat. She knows shes protected when ever she's with you, your so strong. Even if you tend to be messy with your magic she can't complain.

.The two of you can be an unstoppable team when preforming magic together, you're definitely the tank of the group with your giant abominations. Your abominations are special, you may or may not have gotten used to Eda's criminal lifestyle and borrowed a few cursed objects and trinkets to add to your abominations. After all, who's gonna miss a couple of curses ambulates or bones?

.With you around nobody, not even the coven guards will bother you when you're together. Of course if they do she knows that she has nothing to worry about.

Beast Keeping Coven:

.She's accustomed to strange creatures so you're welcomed with open arms. She finds it fun to be honest. Riding the back of a fearsome beast while hugging your back is a wonderful feeling.

.She likes your appreciation for the unwanted beasts of the boiling isles, she helps you "rescue" endangered animals from the night market nearly every week from the animal trade. Of course rescuing them means setting them free when no one is looking.

.You have kept a few of the animals who wouldn't be able to survive on their own in the wild, the backyard is full of crazy animals but she won't let them inside the house. She also appreciates your lessons with Luz, teaching her how to handle and care for them.

Construction Coven:

.She doesn't care about any of the building or furniture making stuff, but she loves how willing you are to defend her honor. She's seen how strong your punch is before and she is absolutely loving it. You're so caring and sweet to her and Luz but dang you are not scared to throw down when necessary.

.If any guy tries messing with her your quick to step in and show that she's quite taken, of course you don't take anything too far. People can be intimidated by you easily so when things like that do happen they're pretty quick to back down.

.But seriously she's happy to be with somebody like you, you make her blush when you pick her up to kiss her. It really makes her happy.

Bard Coven:

. She's used to having friends in the Bard coven but you're a different story. You can play some of the most eccentric instruments possible, organs, Nellophones, bagpipes. Pretty much anything you can play you at least have a good understanding how to.

it makes her smile when you practice around the house. It's very relaxing and you use it to calm her down when her curse starts acting up. She can play too, so she may join in every now and then when she feels like it.

.Overall she enjoys it. The songs, the singing and dancing. Every moment you play is one she remembers.

.But if Luz ever shows you human music on her phone than you will absolutely play it. Her favorite human songs you do are the hip hop songs from the 80s. You dance to it as well which is entertaining to watch.

Illusion Coven:

.Ah you two get into so much trouble on a regular basis. You help her with her scams, concealing her from the emperors coven and guards. You both work pretty well together, need a disguise or a distraction? She knows you have her back.

.She enjoys it, and you make a perfect partner in general. In school you helped her with all of her stunts, and even saved her from detention a couple of times. The two of have been inseparable ever since your first year at Hexside. And she wouldn't change a single thing, you know just how to make her laugh and can cheer her up instantly.

.You also make a good role model for Luz, when you aren't helping her with getting away from authority's or helping her scam customers of course. You're actually really good at getting Luz to see the bigger picture. You're also a good painter so you've taught her how to paint some really cool things together. The Stained glass window in your shared bedroom? You helped her design it. She's happy spending her life with you, every day is an adventure she gets to experience.

Potions Coven:

. She's known you ever since you two met at Hexside during your first year, and to this day the two of you still wreak havoc around the isles together. The two of you are pretty much unstoppable together, she will admit you have a much better skill and ability when it comes to making potions. To be fair you actually paid attention to all of the classes and became the top student in the track, but she still has her own tricks.

.Shes always appreciated having someone like you around, especially when you two were together at Hexside. You make a great teacher for Luz in a more practical sense with magic, teaching her a little bit of potion mixing whenever she's interested and more so answering questions she has. But seriously you are extremely gifted in the way of brewing potions,you still supprised her with how powerful you can be.

.A good section of the kitchen is the designated potion are where the two of you (mainly you) make the good stuff. It can be a tad bit hectic but otherwise always fun to watch you do your thing in the kitchen. After she had gotten cursed you made it your goal to help cure her, and one of those ways is to figure out how to recreate the elixir she drinks to keep the curse from acting up. Which she finds extremely sweet and enduring. She's happy to have meet you in the potions track, even if she originally wanted to do all of the other classes. To be honest you were the only good thing to come out of that place during her time there and she's quite happy with the outcome.

Healing Coven:

.she sometimes wishes you didn't join the healing coven, not cause she has anything against it. It's just your very busy and overworked quite often and she hates to see you so stressed out. You deserve to be stress free and have normal hours of sleep, but with your job that's nearly impossible. You take special house calls for your patients, that means you often find yourself having to wake up at the middle of the night for an emergency call.

.Your so caring and good so it hurts to see others treating you as just a healer. She's noticed that others call you pet names when they should be giving you respect for the sleepless nights you spend tending to the sick and unwell. She will do everything in her power to make you as relaxed and happy as soon as you get home, this includes cuddles and naps together on the couch. (Plus Luz finds it absolutely adorable how you will flop into Eda's embrace as soon as you get home from another hard day at work.)

.She's also aware of the fact her curse has a big factor on you, your always quick to help her when she's trying to fight off the curse. And for that she's again very much grateful for but still she doesn't want to feel like she's adding to any sort of burden dealing with your work and stress. But ultimately she can never say no to you, she loves your determination and eagerness to help others no matter the cost.

Oracle Track:

. Pretty cool, she does like looking towards the future with you as you have revealed some pretty big details before. She never really believed in the whole fortune telling magic before, something just didn't settle right with her. But after she found your tent in the middle of the woods and found you expecting company specifically her company it just kind of felt right. She literally ran into your tent and found you sitting Infront of her holding two cups of tea, it would happen to be her favorite infact. You two talked a bit and you somehow convinced her that she would later meet her soulmate on the knees of the boiling isles. She made a bet that that wouldn't happen and to her supprise she would find you again on the knees with a smug look on your face and a rose in your hand.

.That was years ago and she still listens to your rants about things you've predicted. Short terms are that you are always accurate with your readings. So she won't argue there. After all you did predict that the two of you would have a strange family with possibly two demons and a witch with no natural magical abilities.

.On a more practical way of your readings you are extremely useful for knowing when and where not to go, you'll typically be a little more cryptic white your casual readings but still handy to know not to go to the market because of some sort of event with the emperors coven. You also know when foods about to go bad unexpectedly so that's neat.

.She really enjoys your company, especially when the night sky is clear, the two of you will sneak out to watch the stars and dance under the full light of the moon.

.Luz also finds it cool and often comes to you for secret advice for her and amity's relationship. After all you and Eda are a bit of a strange couple so you know quite a lot of good first real relationship tips.

Plant Coven:

.You are too cute sometimes, you can cheer her up anytime with your little plants and cheerful outlook. You have a liking to succulents and other more resilient kinds of plants. She likes that you carry a few packets of seeds wherever you go, planting and growing new life in dull and boring parts of the isles.

. when the two of you were younger you used to graffiti the halls and building of Hexside with moss. She really admires your creativity with your magic. Most people can be pretty unassuming of you. Usually assuming your pretty soft and delicate but dang can you pack a punch. She's seen you create walls of cacti and thorns and straight up almost kill a few guards using stinging nettle and poison ivy.

. You're a big help around the house with keeping defenses up, Hooty is the primary defense but you have been known to set up a couple of traps including whip vines to keep out the more pesky emperors coven at bay. You know some nasty plants and aren't afraid to use them if necessary. You have a small garden of plants most people see as a pest and weeds in the backyard near the shed, you like proving others wrong in the sense of weeds being just weeds. She likes your secret firey side that not a lot get to see, you definitely have guts and she finds that very attractive.

Warden: (he's so underated)

Abomination Coven:

.He can respect a person with your talents. You two may have met at the conformitorium and don't see eye to eye on how it's run but he still really loves you. Your magic can be extremely powerful, you can morph the walls and objects around you into abomination goo. Making it extremely messy but very useful in certain situations.

.You both met when you broke your friend out of the conformitorium, when he had noticed that the walls of all the cells had turned to abomination mush and all of the prisoners were gone it was understandably annoying. He originally sworn to have you thrown into prison for the trouble you had caused. Upon meeting you by accident in town you had him in a stuttering mess of words that you could only translate as a pitiful attempt to both ask you on a date and address the fact you had pretty much destroyed a good part of the conformitorium. A very strange yet charming first meeting. He would later take you to a nice cafe where the two of you connected.

.You both are opposites of each other at times, which is fine. If anything the two of you definitely benefit from each others different personalities. You have noticed how much calmer and kinder he has gotten with dealing with prisoners at the conformitorium, it doesn't stop you from breaking out the people tho but at least you now fix the walls when your done. And honestly he's not going to do anything as long as you fix it afterwards.

Bard Coven:

.You are the most beautiful thing he's ever listened to, nothing else can compare to your voice no question about it. He's not one to sing and you can be a tad shy when singing around him so he occasionally pretends to be asleep so you'll sing while getting ready for bed or making dinner. When you're singing it melts his heart so he wants to hear it much as possible.

.He especially likes to listen to you sing your lullaby's to Braxas, the two of you are all he needs. When you're feeling good you'll come out of the shell and sing a song you made for him, you know how tiring his work can be so you know just how to lull him to sleep or comfort him when needed.

Beast Keeping Coven:

.He's exactly the type of partner/dad that will say no to letting the family get a pet and then eventually give in and love it unconditionally.

.He may say that he doesn't want or like your strange creatures, but if you get attached to it then he can't say no. It might take some convincing but it wouldn't be long before a new member is added to the family. Braxas also has some sort of strange fondness towards animals that aren't seen as typical house pets, he'd help you take care of it and play with whatever beast you bring into the house.

.Now he does have a stopping point and won't allow too many pets inside, he hates bugs tho so whenever there's a spider gets in the house expect to hear a scream and him shouting your name in fear to get rid of the home invader. Whenever that happens your his knight is shining armor and saviour.

Construction Coven:

.Ahhhh he loves it. As much as he adores a soft S/O he equally lives a strong S/O. It would be so easy to win him over if you have the ability to compete with his strength. He doesn't have to worry about accidentally hurting you so it makes him feel more at ease around you.

. You've built both a treehouse and mini playground set for Braxas to play in that he loves. Neither of you have to worry about finding someone to fix something in the house or repair anything ever, you're so handy with tools it amazes him sometimes.

.The two of you met after Eda had messed up the conformitorium, you had come over after being called to repair the damages to the building. After the rough denial from her, he had learned to take a better approach to asking someone out. He was bout to give up before you had shown up, as if you were a blessing he started to watch you work hard every day to rebuild to the conformitorium. He didn't want a repeat of Eda so he chose a softer and more relaxed approach. After you had finished the last wall of the conformitorium he had built up a little courage to finally ask you out, walking up to you with his guards behind him cheering him on again and asking you to let him treat you to dinner. You of course said yes and the rest is history.

.He loves to help with projects even if it means just holding nails in place while you hammer them in. He's happy Eda had left him like that, even if it meant he had gotten beaten up its what originally lead him to meeting you.

Healing Coven:

.He feels bad how much the two of you work, he feels like you shouldn't have to worry about work the way you do. He watched with concern everytime you come back from a full day of healing without breaks or eating. He wants to take care of you too, so he'll do his best to treat you and keep you off of your feet after a long day. Want to sleep? Go ahead! Can't walk cause you've had no chance to sit down? Guess what, he'll carry you to the ends of the isles.

.He rarely gets any sort of injury's but when he tends to become paranoid, he will go to you and only you for any medical advice. He has no trust for any other healer except you and only you. You treated him so we'll so now he's staying, it was rare for him to find people on the isle's so open and caring so he was instantly smitten by you when you first met.

.He does occasionally get sick, and when he does he's like a giant cuddly puppy. You take such good care of him, making him soups and letting him rest, giving him plenty of cuddles and needed affection. He honestly likes it a little when he's sick, It means he gets special care from you. He likes to feel special and cared about, when all of this comes from you it makes it 100% better.

Illusionist Coven:

.This one's a hard one. He loves you but dang it is hard for him to understand your magic sometimes. He definitely knows not to play a card game with you cause of how crafty you can get. He won't like it when you sneak up behind him or use your magic to spook him, he will however admit he enjoys your tricks of turning things invisible and more lighthearted magic.

.He likes to watch you preform magic tricks while playing with Braxas, he finds it cute when he finds the two of you laughing together and making clines of you dance around the room.

Oracle Coven:

.He's not really too interested in Oracle readings or divination to be honest. He doesn't want to know what the future will be, he wants to keep it a surprise. When he was younger he had heard that his soulmate would be in the Oracle Coven. So he spent a few years searching and talking to every Oracle Coven member he could, eventually giving up. About two years after he had stopped searching he had gotten a transfer prisoner that was part of the Oracle Coven.

.Turns out you had known that your future soulmate would be head of some sort of prison or jail, you didn't want to believe when you had gotten u rightfully thrown in the conformitorium but you couldn't argue with destiny. The look on each others faces when you both realized you were each others so called soulmates was priceless. You knew it would happen but you didn't expect him of all people, not that you were complaining.

.Now you two live comfortably together, since he doesn't care for all of the Oracle stuff you two don't really do anything like tea readings or tarot cards. You tend to just enjoy your days together as they come.

Plant Coven:

.People don't really expect you to be so powerful when they first meet you, this includes Warden. When he first bumped into you at the market he didn't think you were capable of making gigantic mushrooms grow to the size of buildings. When you two had first met he had accidentally ran into you while chasing Eda, causing you to fall. Thankfully you had caught yourself by making a soft landing onto a mushroom, but Warden hadn't been quite lucky. You brushed your self off and helped him up, using mushrooms to help him back to his feet. He was a bit overwhelmed after all of that but once he had been brought back to the present he had noticed you, standing Infront of him with a concerned look on your face. He'd never seen mushrooms grow as giant as the ones you have made.

.Overall he really doesn't care too much about the mushrooms, he thinks they're interesting and unique. He's even gotten you some mushroom themed hats and accessories that you love. The two of you eat a lot of mushrooms though, he does like the fact you both have fresh vegetables and fruits often. And Braxas enjoys playing on the mushrooms you make, bouncing on them outside like semi trampolines.

Potions Coven:

.He's had a bad time with porionists before so it might take some time to really get to know you. He's really just afraid of it turning into an Eda situation again. But you'd never do anything like that to him.

.You joined as a guard for the conformitorium, climbing up the ranks to the point where you started working with the infamous Warden. He was extremely distant from you at first, but as you earned his trust your relationship started to grow more and more. After a few weeks the other guards had started to ship you two and try to get the two of you together. Which did work, once you two had confessed each others feelings you both started to go on regular dates together.

.You two make a pretty good team too, you know a lot about potions that make people incapacitated and cease body function so you can be a little intimidating at times, and he lives for it honestly. He's a sucker for people that can preform powerful spells so he's well impressed with your potions and elixirs.

Lilith:

Abomination Coven:

.She does not care for it. It's hard for her to appreciate abominations though she will admit that you have a great skill in it. And she does find it interesting how you can turn your body into abomination goo and what not.

.There's not much she can really do for it but it is interesting to watch you spar with Steve and absolutely crush him, she will of course cheer you on even if she doesn't like abominations.

Bard Coven:

.She admires it very much, of course as long as it's not too loud. She really enjoys a little bit of classical music, and a little pop as well. She also loves to dance with you, so any chance she gets she will gladly take.

.The first time you had met her was when you were preforming, playing the piano so wonderfully. She couldn't help but feel moved by your music. Now if you ever learn something like ed Sheeran or some sort of folk music the shed be even more head over heels for your music. She secretly likes those kinds of music but it's hard for her to tell people her interests in music.

Beast Coven:

.Shes unsure of the safety involving mist of the creatures you deal with. Especially since you're know for being able to tame reptiles and amphibians. She's crated you'll be eaten or squished. She knows you can handle yourself but it's still her job to worry about you.

.good luck ever trying to convince her to come with you to the swamps or wetlands cause it's not happening unless absolutely necessary, she feels incapable of helping anyway so she's rather stay back and not get in the way. She also doesn't do pets well unless it's like a cat or bird, so no pets unless easy to take care of.

. She'll come with you to get supplies needed for any animal or beast needed, the only thing she genuinely enjoys when it comes to your work is looking at all of them in cute clothes and accessories, its hard to not like watching you put a sweater on the beasts and look cute.

Construction Coven:

.meh, not too bad. She likes how sting your embrace is. And loves it when you give her massages, whenever you do it it's so much better honestly. You make some very unique things she enjoys, she really likes your sculptured and statues. You make them so realistic looking it's impressive.

.She's so small compared to you, your so physically strong and gentle at the same time it amazes her. However, if anyone dares to say anything rude or degrading towards her your intimidating side tends to come out rather quickly. All it takes is for you to stand up and death glare them before they back down. Anytime that happens it makes her feel so warm inside knowing you'll stick up to anybody for her.

Healing Track:

.She rather enjoys the healing coven, she's impressed with how much you typically do in one day. You have saved her before from sicknesses and other nasty injurys from her time in the Emperors Coven. Anytime she's sick she knows you'll make a big deal out of it and insist on healing her to tip top shape, it's endearing to her.

. She only knows a little bit about healing magic so she loves it when you rant to her, you both often spend your time together ranting anyways. Talking about anything and everything together, not many want to listen to either of you so you both find company in each other.

Illusionist Coven:

.She secretly loves it. You have to most creative way of saying I love you to her, creating elaborate schemes to show your affection. She doesn't care for any pranks or anything like that but still she loves your magic and finds it special.

.Her favorite spell is where you create illusionary birds to bring her letters and gifts. your creations look so real it's beautiful it never fails to make her gush.

Oracle Coven:

.Tea dates would probably be a big thing for her, she loves sitting next to a warm fire with you cuddling while drinking hot tea while you tell her about your visions and customers you've had for the day. You tell her of any dreams you can remember from the night before, conversing about the stars and horoscopes for the day.

.She like it because of how relaxing and calming it all is, during your younger years when Lilith was at Hexside and you were in Glandis you both were on opposing grudgeby teams both team captains. You of course knew that they were cheating, but didn't say anything cause you knew that you wouldn't get to see the opposing team captain if you spoke up. So you continuously let yourself be beat just so you would see her during the game. You one day had gotten a vision of her getting possibly injured during the game, do you made it your goal to keep her out of harm's way as best as possible. At first Lilith was extremely confused, assuming you were trying to throw her off her game. But as she tried to score a point she had several miscalculated, failing and instead ended up falling to the ground. Before she could feel the harsh floor meet her body she felt two gentle arms holding her instead. Even though you lost again the two of you started hanging out outside of grudgeby matches, and she learned you were part of the Oracle Track.

.She started coming to you for tea and horoscope readings on her days off and it evolved into your current relationship.

Plant Coven:

.She likes some of the plants you grow, just not all of them. You certainly have some exotic plants in your care. You have a connection to them she doesn't quite get, you can pretty much converse with them. Just completely understand them as if they speak to you, a few of your plants require a meaty diet and smell like absolute death and rot. Meanwhile your also grown flowers and the more soft kinder plants. She doesn't have a green thumb but she'll help you with adding nutrients and watering them as long as it's not the carnivorous plants.

.She does like to go to on small easy going adventures with you like kayaking or walking through botanical gardens together on a nice day.

.You can pull off some crazy stunts using plants too, using roots of plants to carry you and making plants walk as if they were humanoid. They just gravitate towards you, literally, they sometimes will extend their leaves as if trying to get to you. Your abilities with plants are strange yet impressive none the less.

Potions Coven:

.You two may get a tad bit competitive from time to time when it comes down to who makes the best potions. Both of you were top students in the class, for a short time you had a small rivalry before getting to know each other better. Yet still the pride in both of you still shows from time to time. It never escalates to anything further, just some loving competition between the two of you.

.You both can make extremely powerful potions together when necessary, and can practically read each others minds whenever the two of you make them together. You both get into a sort of unbroken trance, swiftly and rather gracefully in sync together as you mix and brew your potions. The two of you would be quite happy together, you know each other so we'll you really don't need to speak, you know by each others facial expressions and body language so well that it's all you two need in order to convey thoughts together.

.You also make the best coffee in the isle, it's a certain skill she's found she appreciates after a rough day.

So, i'm seeing people saying that Amity may sabotage Luz's attempts to get home, judging by the episode's title Yesterday's lie. What are your thoughts?

This post just about sums it up. Amity isn’t even mentioned in the episode synopsis, and it’s not like Luz is planning to leave for good. I feel like people are jumping the gun on that one.

I don’t think we should be taking the “yesterday” in that statement so literally. I don’t actually think it’s about what happened the day before (we don’t even have confirmation that Eclipse Lake takes place a day before this episode). It seems way more likely that it’s just referring to something that just in general happened in the past. On that note, keep in mind, they have to keep the titles in line with the message that the episodes spell out. There’s only so many words that begin with Y and would make sense in this context.

(Also nobody would title an episode “that lie from three months ago”, lol)

And consider: we’ve had episode titles that were intentionally misleading before. “The Intruder” was meant to trick the viewers into thinking someone actually broke into the house, rather than the monster being cursed Eda.

Rather than Amity lying to Luz, there’s a way more obvious ongoing lie related to Luz in the show that I’m pretty sure this is referring to. It’s how she’s been lying to her mom about what she’s up to. Since Camila is in the trailers for the season 1A promo, I feel like the episode is about Camila finding out the truth/Luz being forced to come clean to her once she’s stepped back through the portal into her world. That’s what Luz isn’t sure she’s ready for.

Also I feel like the whole “Amity tries to prevent Luz from going home”-idea is kind of stupid to begin with? Amity was in love with Luz before the portal blew up. We didn’t see her attempting to destroy the portal back then.

Like guys this girl is fourteen, not some manipulative evil mastermind??? I like angst as much as the next person but like… that’s taking it a bit far. Amity attempting to force Luz to stay in the Boiling Isles would cause a major falling out, and not one they could just bounce back from. We’re likely only getting this one season and then three 40 minute specials. That’s not enough time to cover Luz and Amity trying to repair their relationship after a mess like this and everything else that’s been set up to happen.

There’s also another reason why I don’t think this title is referring to Amity, and that’s how Amity in general has been portrayed so far. She’s been raised to think of love as something conditional. Something you need to earn and something you lose if you don’t do what that person wants—which is why she tries so hard to prove herself to her parents (something she’s now finally starting to break out of). She is used to putting other people’s wishes before her own when she seeks their approval.

Amity loves Luz. And I think more than anything, she wants Luz to be happy. She wants to be with her, but she’s not going to force Luz to stay if that’s not what Luz wishes to do. Amity has been forced to do a whole bunch of things throughout her life by people that supposedly love her, and I just can’t see her doing the same thing to Luz when she’s been through that kind of manipulation a million times over and knows exactly what it feels like.

If she manipulates Luz like that and Luz catches her, she’d also risk losing her for good, and Amity doesn’t take risks that big easily. She’s used to having to give 120% because even 110% aren’t enough for her parents, and if there’s the ghost of a chance she could fail, she doesn’t even try. Up until she meets Luz, she doesn’t do anything against her parents wishes, despite knowing how much the twins get away with, because there’s a chance that she wouldn’t get away with it. She’s afraid of rejection, and since there’s a chance Luz could say no to her, she doesn’t ask her out. She’s also lost the most important person in her life (Willow) through her own actions once before, and I just cannot see her risking that again.

Amity is starting to take more risks now, because Luz inspires her to, but she’s changing as a person way beyond “she’s willing to take more risks”.

Screwing other people over to get what she wants (which is very much something she probably internalized considering the household she grew up in) is something Amity would’ve done before she met Luz, before Luz inspired her to be better. She cut Willow off because her parents asked her to. She used to tattle on the twins all the time because she wanted her parents’ approval. She burned Willow’s photo so people wouldn’t find out they were friends, even if it meant hurting Willow in the progress.

She did everything she could so her parents would be proud of her, so they would love her, even if it meant hurting others.

And Luz slowly changed everything. Luz, who is reckless, and selfless, and always stands up for the people she cares about, even when it means putting herself in harm’s way in the progress. Luz, who helped Amity fix things with Willow. Luz and her current friends inspire Amity to be a better person. “They’re nice to each other. They listen to each other. They make me think about the kind of person I really want to be”, to directly quote Escaping Expulsion. And that person isn’t the kind of manipulator her parents are, who will stop at nothing to get what they want, even if people get hurt in the progress.

That person is selfless, and does the right thing, no matter what. She made her first step towards that in Understanding Willow, when she fixes her mistake and faces her past misdeeds in the progress, even if it’s hard, even if she doesn’t want to, because it’s the right thing to do. Because she owes it to Willow, and she owes her an apology. In Wing it like Witches, she follows through on her promise to stand up for Willow and breaks ties with her old friends, even if her parents will definitely hear of that. Even at the risk of painting a target on her back for Boscha, Skara and their friends. Heck, she puts herself in harm’s way in the literal sense to give Luz a chance to win the game.

And in Escaping Expulsion, she even risks angering her parents to help Luz and her friends. The parental approval that she’s worked for for so hard for so many years is at stake, and she chooses to do risk everything to do the right thing, to help her friends. She chooses the people who treat her right, who make her happy.

Her powerful speech would be meaningless if Amity would then turn around and sabotage Luz. It says a ton about how much Luz trusts Amity that she trusts Amity to get something portal-related for her in Eclipse Lake, and I just cannot see Amity betraying that trust. It’s possible that Amity struggles with the thought of Luz going home in that episode, but I cannot see her doing anything to sabotage something that’s this important to Luz. That would be a huge disservice to her character in my opinion.

Seeing that episode title and going “this means Amity is lying to Luz and sabotaging her for her own selfish desires” is to completely ignore all of Amity’s character development. Amity isn’t that person anymore. She’s trying really hard to be better. If she were to sabotage Luz’s attempts at going home, and choosing that over open communication, it would be a huge step back for her.

Honestly, it feels more likely that Amity ends up choosing to openly communicate her feelings, which would be a huge, huge thing for her. Maybe when they say their temporary goodbye she says something like “you better come back soon” and kisses Luz before she leaves (which would align with her allowing herself to take more risks if they’ll make her happy that we’ve seen a bunch of lately).

To circle back to the beginning, like I said, it’s very likely that Yesteday’s Lie focuses on Luz’s relationship with her mom, and Luz freaking out at the prospect of telling her everything. How much of a role her friends and Amity play in it is very up in the air, even if as mentioned I could see this scenario leading into a confession scene.

Beauty and the Guard AU

An AU on Beauty and the beast but there’s no beast unless you want to count belos as one but he’s not the focus character Hunter just refuses to take off his mask the whole time.  

Takes place when luz is trying to save Eda from petrification, Luz strikes a deal with Belos, Giving the portal but manages to destroy it. She’s instead taken captive and warned by Belos that if she escapes, He’ll send an army to capture not just Eda but everyone she ever met and befriended. 

- Has to stay in the Castle as to answer Belos’ questions about the human realm and any other information gathering.

- Hunter is assigned as her chaperone but not all the time. Not when he’s on missions. Steve fills in. 

- Luz agrees with Hunter to not ask about his mask. She says that she doesn’t have a desire to get to get to know him and Considering how the majority of citizens are under the monster category, she understands that he doesn’t want anyone to look. Hunter is not sure if he’s relieve that she will keep her promise not to look under his mask or feel insulted that she basically called him ugly.

- When not 'helping’ Belos information gathering, She puts to work as a cleaning lady, Luz is furious about it. She can’t believe she has to clean more there than she does at home in a dusty castle. The other cleaning witches can do their job well with magic, meanwhile it’s all manual labor. Not to mention she shares quarters with them and they snore.

- Tries to convince Hunter to let her go out even if its around the castle grounds, of course, He says no and shuts down her attempts.

- While doing her cleaning duties, Luz wanders around the castle to look around any valuable information on Belos for any way to help eda/or whatever without the Golden Guard following her. She finds the forbidden library and is amazed by the goldmine of BI’s forbidden knowledge! She only gets to look through some books before she gets caught by Hunter which he angrily yells at her about being in a place where she’s not supposed to be in. Drags her out and locks the library.

- She tries to run away but often gets stopped by Hunter, the threat of going to the dungeon doesn’t scare her (”I escaped there like twice”). He relents and allows her to go on these ‘adventures’ when he’s not in a mission, He finds it to be fun but would not admit it.

- Luz manages to get the freedom to go back to school but is secretly spied on by Hunter, though he sometimes get caught by the monsters or students roaming around. Hunter picks her up after school. (weak sauce, idk what to put here to make it more interesting)

- When he’s not chaperoning her in the outside world, Hunter gets envious how much fun Steve is having with Luz when they go on an adventure. Detailing their bounty adventures, using the snails to shop and buy things. He can’t really do much about it but when he does go, Steve gets sad; Luz promises him that she’ll get him souvenirs.

- Somehow finds out that Hunter is a magicless witch and Luz shows him that she can do magic through glyphs. Hunter is amazed and they start geeking out about it until he stops himself since it’s a forbidden knowledge.

-  Luz had succeed running away from the castle but its to the beach to stare at the boiling waters. She tells Hunter that the castle life was suffocating her and needed to go out. Hunter stayed with her until they were ready to go back. 

- Hunter secretly takes her to the forbidden library to cheer her up so she can learn more and the boiling isles history. Hunter is happy to have someone with the same interests as him to talk to about wild magic. Gets more comfortable around her and talk in secret more about it. During their time together get bond over varies subjects, the library becoming their sanctuary when its not in use, which is most of the time. They share about each other’s realms constellations, history, what kind of magic is around, creatures and about the titan. Luz scolds him for this, referring back when he got angry at her for being curious when he basically did the same thing in secret.

- After some time getting comfortable and know each other through mutual interest and deep talks. Hunter gets bothered that since she doesn’t know his name, She has no choice but to call him by his title. When they are coming back from doing errands, He tells her his name and she’s allowed to call him by it when they are together/in private. His heart fluttered when he hears her say his name.

- Luz starts to grow feelings for him despite not knowing what he looks like. She had opportunities to see what he looks at the times when he’s asleep during their time in the library or when his mask gets knocked off during a temp job but kept her promise to not look at his face which leads to uncomfortable situation where she accidentally gropes him when she was looking for him to give him his mask back, luckily never below the belt. What she finds is his built felt normal. No hidden spikes, slime or what-have-you to suggests that he’s in the monster/demon category. Hunter obviously flustered. 

- (Following the plot of Hunting palisman w/ some changes to the plot cause obviously Eda)  At school Luz can’t find the palisman that suits her and is upset about it. Hunter, although he still hesitant about his feelings towards wild magic, tries to comfort her. (convo from the Hunting palisman) Luz  talks about What happened at the school, and questions Hunter about how he manages to know what he wanted for his future and How he came to the emperor’s coven, to help her get some guidance from him. He tells her about himself and lack of future and Although she isn’t sure about hers, at least she gets to choose. Luz feels sad for him and hugs him. Hunter melts in her embrace. 

- Just as he’s about to fall asleep in her arms, Rascal pops out of his hiding place and gives Hunter a heart attack. Rascal chooses Hunter to be his palisman. Obviously Luz feels a bit disappointed that hunter got his palisman when he doesn’t want it, the look of uncertainty he has with the palisman makes her determine to get him used to it. She can always be a teacher since she has experience with Owlbert.

- With his new staff that he’s still unsure of, Hunter decides to take Luz out somewhere out of the ordinary routine after school, somewhere special (think like events like the wailing stars but something else) but that turned romantic. At some point he slightly lifts his mask to kiss Luz’s hand. She’s obviously swooned. May have peeked and sees that he has loose strand of medium blond hair sticking out and that his Lips felt like normal. Starts to think he looks like more like human(or witch?) like some of her classmates.

- They become even more friendlier as it becomes a usual thing for them to be seen together in the castle when Luz is or isn’t working, even the coven members are noticing this, especially Kikimora. Coven leaders are just shocked that someone liked him enough to be his a friend. 

- Kikimora start planting seeds of doubts in Luz’s mind about whether Hunter really is being her friend or just fulling his duties as he was told by Belos. What if their talks where his manipulative ways to get her to tell him about her and other information gathering. Was he really talking to her as she clean because he’s really saw her as a friend or just keeping guard to make sure she doesn’t run away. Kiki does this to mess whatever good thing Hunter has since she can’t kill him.  Luz tries her best to ignore her, rationalizing that that’s quite an investment for Hunter to go through to manipulate her.

- Somewhere a long the line, Luz finds out the truth about day of unity and the truth of Kikimora’s words of Hunter’s actions that she assumed was just lies that Kiki told her. She’s hurt to think the guy she grown to love had any knowledge about it and betrayed her. “I though you were a good guy [mentions all the stuff they do together and such] I guess You’re not my friend, you’re just the golden guard.” It kills him when she said that.

- alternatively he finds out that she has the key to the partially fixed portal door. Is conflicted on whether to break their bond for belos or not especially after learning that she’s homesick and wants to see her mom again. Fought with Kikimora over it with lead to Luz finding out their fight and gets heartbroken that Hunter has it, assumes the worst that kikimora was right.  Again, “I though you were a good guy I guess I was wrong. You’re not my friend, you’re just the golden guard.” His feels his heart breaks. 

- Luz gets rescued by Eda, Lilith, king, hooty, her friends. Hunter doesn’t try to stop her but apologizes to her for everything and for what it’s worth, he’s happy to got to know her and that he loved her, whether she feels the same or not. Luz obviously shocked but couldn’t give a response because the gang were fleeing.

- Back in the owl house, Luz is a mess because of the mixed feelings she has for hunter. In one hand, she knew him as this cold person who was very dedicated to his job while the other as an intelligent, funny, (other more things) and is confused on which hunter is the one she grown to love. ( Feels devastated about it because she thinks that he faked his feelings for her to get knowledge on the key or whatever although hunter didn’t really know she had it.)

- Lilith is dumfounded that Luz has feelings for him because she known him to be a brat. Luz argues that He is but much more than that. As she explains why, she gets hits with the epiphany that she does indeed had fallen in love with him. Eda laughs, “Not sure If I approve catching feelings for your nanny, I thought you were being tortured or something but I see now what you have been really doing.” wagging her eyebrows. Luz: “They have me clean the castle from top to bottom! By hand!” “I don’t approve then.” Luz shares her knowledge of wild magic with the group that she learn from the castle’s library.

- Weeks later, Luz tries to sleep but hears small knocking on the window, She opens it and sees Rascal with the key with him and a note from Hunter apologizing again for what happened. Belos doesn’t know about the key. She sends a note back, telling him to meet her. 

- idk how they makeup. (Working on it) Luz walks up to Hunter and asks if she could take off his mask which he agrees to. Luz takes his mask off and smiles, “well look at that, Magenta eyes. You aren’t ugly as I thought to you were!” hunter frowns, “But you’re handsome as I imagined,” leans up and kisses him first. Hunter tosses the mask away for good and hugs her close to kiss her better. Luz pulls back,  “and... I love you too.” Hunter isn’t sure what his new future holds but knows for sure that Luz is a part of it.

( Had an idea in an alternative story plot around the part where they went out to a ‘date’. They confessed their love and started to kiss lol imagine them having to use a blindfold to keep her eyes closed. But it was a bit too sensual? Or Sensuous? It just didn’t fit in the flow of the storyline. Why did this became a dabble? )

Hunter, for the first time, gets self conscious about his looks. He tries not look into mirrors, though hard when his mask reflects the face he tries hard to avoid looking at when putting it on, He doesn’t really thought much about his looks, except for the scar that’s plastered over his cheek. The ugly scar that he rather forget he has.

As Hunter looks down at Luz’s face, blindfolded to prevent her from accidently opening her eyes during their ‘make out session’, He’s starting to believe that Luz lied about being magicless. He can’t help but feel enchanted over how beautiful she looked by the way the moonlight cast a heavenly glow over her cute features. He can only imagine how her eyes would look like if she didn’t have the blindfold on. “I wish I can stare into your eyes,”

“Why can’t we?”

“You know why”

“Right, I’m not allowed to look under the mask.” she pouted.

“And... well,” Luz attentively waits for him to continue, “I may not look... pretty as you think I imagine. If that makes any sense.” He sheepishly confessed

As Luz wraps her arms around his shoulders, Hunter feels her hands feeling up up his neck, tenderly cradling his face. Hunter fails to resist the blush spreading across his cheeks and the warm pleasant feeling in his chest

“I have other senses to “see” you,” She says sliding her fingers along his jawline, “Strong jaw, ... No scales, or slime... just soft skin” 

She found one patch on the left of his face in particular that caught her interest but before she could take her time to feel it, Hunter quickly shook her hand away from it. Sensing its something he feels uncomfortable with, she decides to leave it alone. 

She continues, “I can hear your voice; sound hot,” He suddenly felt shy at the comment. He was always self-conscious as he has been told that it was annoying. He felt relieved that it wasn’t the case for her.  “Heh, Thanks”

“I can smell you, " She nuzzles against his neck and scrunches up her nose, “... you need a shower.” Hunter frowns, that was certainly killed the mood a little. She pulls back, “But I like that you smell like pine forest sometimes,” weak save.

 “And,” she hums as grazes her thumb over his lips, licking her own. Hunter subconsciously sucks in his breathe, feeling himself getting hotter by the second.

“I can taste you.” finishing off her sentence by pressing her lips against his; briefly misses his lips by kissing the corner of his mouth before correcting herself. 

Hunter smirks in amusement. 

Alright, He admits that was pretty smooth of her to end it the way she did, even though she fumbled at the end. 

He feels a bit confident on that fateful day where he feels brave enough to show her his face, He just hope it lives up to her expectations despite her reassurance to the contrary. 

Luz, on the other hand, is glad that he’s feels like a normal person underneath the mask, she can’t help but feel a bit disappointed that hunter possess no fangs.

Your thoughts on the epi?

This episode was everything! I don't remember when I've enjoyed crying so much. The funny thing is, though, that I've found myself crying more while rewatching those scenes, than I cried during the first time I watched the episode. This episode will definitely rank among my favorites. Let's talk about the B and C characters and then get to Edser and, of course, Kiraz at the end. I spent the first 30 minutes resisting the urge to punch my screen anytime Ayfer was on it. Damn, I wanted to slap her silly. Could she have been any more annoying? Eda's a grown woman, if she is finally doing the right thing and telling the father of her child he's a dad, then be supportive instead of a screeching pain in the ass. When she actually said "I told you so" to an upset Eda... seriously? That is awful. What a bitter, joyless, petty individual. I was cheering for Melo every time she told Ayfer she was negative. Good! At least we know the other characters recognize how awful she is.

Also what was with her going overboard to protect Burak's feelings over his delusional aspirations? Why shouldn't he understand that Serkan and Eda shared a great love and Melo is rooting for them to rekindle it? What does hiding that from him do? It's still true. Ayfer treats this dude as a member of the family, so he might as well know. I get his feelings might get hurt, but dude needs a reality check and to move on, and no matter how hard Ayfer hopes, Serkan in their lives or no, Eda is never going to want Burak. She's made that clear. If Ayfer likes him so much maybe she should marry him, that way at least Melo would be saved from his milquetoast presence.

Speaking of that, they were clearly trying to establish some sort of connection or vibe between him and Melo. So far, I'm not into it. If he's still so into Eda that Ayfer doesn't want him to have to hear about Eda/Serkan possibly reuniting, then he doesn't deserve Melo. Melo deserves someone who wants her, not someone who pines after someone out of his league and then settles for her bff once he realizes he never had a shot with the great beauty. We'll see how it develops, but he has the personality of damp carpet so I don't have high hopes.

Aydan was a little screechy this episode, but I cut her some slack since she just found out these traitors stole 5 years of her granddaughter's life from her. My friend @echoapothecary made a good point to me that Aydan deserves no sympathy for this since she didn't tell Eda Serkan was alive back in amnesia times, and I don't disagree with that. That move by Aydan pretty much tainted her character forever, and it's near impossible to come back from, but viewing this story in a capsule I do feel sorry for her. She wasn't a good mother to Serkan, but she does love him, and I think she craves family. The main point being, Serkan wasn't the only one who lost something significant by not knowing about Kiraz until now, Aydan did too. Perhaps we can say that losing the first five years of her granddaughter's life is her punishment for keeping the secret about Serkan, it's about as steep a penalty as one could pay. Talk about karmic retribution.

Also, since Serkan is apparently not going to impose any emotional tolls on any of the traitors for the secret that was kept from him, I'm glad Aydan did at least make her displeasure known and made some of the liars uncomfortable. Piril, at least, felt it, even if she won't suffer any real consequences. I kind of wanted Serkan to kick her out of the company. I really don't like that character and I think every time she's on screen she just sucks the life out of the show. Engin when he's in scenes with Serkan or Eda or Melo or Aydan or Erdem = Interesting. Engin when he's with Piril = Zzzzzzz.

Pina and Kerem were cute, but to be honest I really don't care. It's inoffensive and I get that we need B, C and D storylines to fill out two hours each week, so I'm good with it, but let's be real I'm only watching for the main event.

Speaking of... now to EDSER! I actually like that Serkan walked out and drove away after hearing the truth. I can only imagine what kind of shock and betrayal he must have felt at that moment, escaping must have seemed like his best option. What I liked even more is that Eda followed him. What a relief after the last episode where she was looking for any and every excuse not to tell him and then made the nonsensical decision to flee in order to avoid it. Too many times in the past between these two pride has gotten in the way. There was a time that Eda might have thrown up her hands at him leaving and pretended like it didn't hurt, that it didn't matter. I'm so glad those days seem to be over. One of the hallmarks of season 2 has been the improved communication (sans secret) between these two and this episode took that concept to a new level.

How heartbreaking to watch Eda plead with Serkan through the door, and how double-y heartbreaking to watch Serkan sitting on the floor, head bent, clearly in emotional agony. You could feel it coming off of him. Kudos to both Hande and Kerem who KILLED IT this episode. Seriously, their best work to date. Their chemistry is always on point, but the way they flawlessly work off of one another in every scene they share, whether it's deeply dramatic or something light and romantic is truly something special to behold. That's one reason why I don't get the folks who are so hung up in hating the season 2 plotline, that they can't appreciate any of this. Because this is the point. Giving these two artists deep and challenging scenes together and opportunities to make more magic. Watching them this season is honestly a privilege and I plan on enjoying every minute of it.

Despite Serkan's emotional turmoil, it was so like him to put the blanket over her and then sit across from her sleeping form as he indulged in some more brooding. However, I really appreciate that by the morning he was ready to talk to her. That conversation was hard, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who was jarred by him saying that he would have told her to get an abortion. In light of his later confessions, I think there's a few ways to take that. I think it was in part a nod to what an emotional mess he was at the time, and in part he said it to alleviate some of her guilt. Because even a betrayed and hurt Serkan cares so much about her, and he knows what he put who through at the time. Especially because at that moment he still had no plans to tell her the truth about why he broke up with her, he was still playing the part of the man who just didn't want children. So stubborn! Thank goodness that over the course of the next 12 hours he'll change his mind about that...

On another note, how happy did it make you to see Sirius? It made me pretty happy. He lives!!!!

From the moment Eda went to his hotel room the night before to confess all the way until they met again at the hotel, Eda really did everything right in how she approached him. However, once back in Sile, she makes her first critical error. It reminded me of the Eda in episode 29 who started pushing so hard at amnesia!Serkan and coming at him with such extreme emotion that he shut down. And that's what happened during that conversation on the beach. Eda needed to give him a little bit of time to come to terms with things, instead of forcing a conversation the first moment they saw one another. Good grief, what was she doing demanding answers from him hours after he found out? She knows this man! She knows that he plans every aspect of his life. So to spring on him that you hid a child from him for 5 years and he's a dad, is a LOT. I like that in a later scene he knows he reacted badly, and actually also says to her "What did you expect?" While his reaction wasn't great, it was also pretty predictable and she should have known to give him some time.

Speaking of the conversation on the beach, what a powerhouse scene for Hande. One note on it, that was the scene they had just shot when Hande and Kerem did their last IGlive on premiere day. The one where Kerem kept talking about how he was in a mood because of an intense scene they had just done. After watching I couldn't help but note that he, as Serkan, mostly just stood there stoically as Hande did all the emoting as Eda let loose on all the pent up emotion she'd been carrying both for years and with Serkan's fresh rejection. It speaks to both their personal and professional dynamic that he was so affected by her being in that state since he didn't do the heavy lifting in that specific scene. The way they are attuned to each other is probably a big reason they are so flawlessly in sync on screen.

I liked how they weaved the Kiraz/Baba scene in at the right time. That was one instance where Aydan, Seyfi and Engin's meddling was for the good, engineering a situation where Serkan was alone with his daughter. Also excellent comedy from Can, ratting out his dad about throwing ice cream on him. Good stuff. I like Engin-as-a-father scenes, I like Engin-as-a-friend scenes, I could just do without Engin-as-a-husband scenes. Anyway, Serkan needed time to adjust, but he also needed to be exposed to Kiraz so that he could view their prior unlikely bond through the new prism of fatherhood. It's telling how easily he slid into Dad territory with teaching her how to tie her shoes. He had been doing that all along, but at that moment he knew about the relationship and still did what was natural. He is ready to be her father, he just needs to realize he's worthy of it.

You can't blame Eda for not realizing it, but it was lovely to see how quickly Serkan turned the corner. He was already adjusting his thinking not even 24 hours after he found out about Kiraz and that was really what inserting himself

into her dealings with the Italians was about. Staying in contact until he could beat back all his neurosis. As for the business stuff, she apparently needed him as an investor, but I also love the way he was there to first build up her confidence and then praise her after a successful presentation. I've said it before but Serkan as her professional mentor is one of my favorite dynamics between them. It did make me wonder, is she still 45% owner of the Holding? It seems like it, she sure didn't hesitate to present herself as his partner. If she is, though, it seems impossible that they could have had zero contact for all those years, unless she just placed her stake in a trust and gave him full voting control of it. Details I'm sure they won't explore in-depth, but I did wonder.

Don't you just love an unwitting guest character (Italian guy) who comes in and forces our two protagonists to spend extra time together? I do. Thank you Italian guy and Italian guy's wife! I love how quick Serkan was to accept, you see, he had already turned a corner and was looking for excuses to get close to her. It was his first step in his journey to opening up to her. Also, who noticed that Eda wore a slinky blue dress the night after Kiraz mentioned that it's Serkan's favorite color? Just checking. She is not as immune to his charms as she'd like us to believe...

OF COURSE Serkan was at Eda's graduation. I think pretty much the whole fandom had guessed that from their conversation in episode 40, but it still hit me emotionally to have it confirmed. What I really liked about it was that Serkan didn't tip his hand by accident. He quoted her graduation speech specifically because he wanted her to know he was there. And not only that he willingly admits that he thought of her every single day since they parted. This is a huge step for him. It has been driving him crazy that Eda thinks he forgot her and is totally unaffected by her. However, even just a few hours earlier he was still in a place where he had no intention to tell her anything, it's actually impressive how quickly he came around. Now I don't blame Eda at all for declaring it's not enough, he put her through emotional hell when they broke up. I mean on one hand you'd think she'd be able to see that he was already opening his heart and there was more to the story, however, her reaction was good because it spurred him on to go and tell her the whole story.

And what a heartbreaking story it was. As I said several times over the last few weeks, I was hoping that part of Serkan's motivation was that the doctor had told him he would be unable to have kids, what I wasn't expecting though was the double whammy of not being able to have kids AND there being a 70% chance of the cancer coming back. No wonder Serkan was eFFed up! Who wouldn't be, but then you add in his additional insecurities about not being worthy of love and his hypochondria and that is a bad mental cocktail. You know what's ironic, Ayfer hates him but in reality he did exactly what Ayfer would have wanted him to do. Push Eda away for her own good so she could have everything she wants in life without him dragging her down. What makes Ayfer the worst (and a hypocrite) is that this is exactly what she would have wanted him to do, but she also blames him for Eda's heartbreak in the aftermath.

The scene was so cathartic to watch as a viewer. We've been waiting for weeks for Serkan's point of view as he's hidden behind his usual confident and calm veneer, and when we finally got it, we really got it. He did not hold back. Serkan is such a complex character, which is a bit surprising for a silly show that you wouldn't really expect build a character with so many layers. On the surface he has everything and seems to be full of ego, but his arrogance is only surrounding his abilities, intellect, and skills as a businessman and architect. Personally, he has little self-worth and thinks he's not worthy of anyone's love, especially not Eda's. However, while that has been a truth of the character for a long time, this speech was the first time he admitted how deeply rooted his fears are. It was stunning, though, to have a character who is so rooted in being in control and who is worried about his outward image, open up in such a raw way and expose all his fears and insecurities to a woman he's been apart from for five years. It was breathtaking and Kerem was fantastic in the scene.

Initially, with the subtitles, I misinterpreted (though I knew it couldn't be quite right) his parting words. The subtitles I saw made it seem like Serkan was saying "Don't say you forgot me" as in Serkan didn't want Eda to say she forgot him. But it made so much more sense when I saw it translated as "But don't say I forgot you." which was a throw back to their dinner conversation in episode 40 when Eda says, "You forgot me." Once I realized Serkan was saying that he couldn't handle her thinking, or say, that he'd forgotten her, the scene hit doubly hard!

I saw some criticism of that scene that said Eda was just standing there with no emotion, but I didn't get that at all. She had tears running down her face and I thought she was fighting for his soul pretty dang hard. First by using both emotion-- telling him that everything had changed because now he had a daughter and that he'd locked his heart and soul in a cage. Then by using logic-- when she told him the cancer is gone and that's it's over and when she challenged him over why everything has to be perfect. Think from her perspective how disorienting it would be to find out that everything you thought was true, was not, and that if the love of your life wasn't such a stubborn, selfless, self-sabotaging martyr that you could have built a family together instead of been separated for 5 years. It's a lot.

On the first watch this doorway scene is where I started to get emotional, but I didn't really lose it and fully cry until Serkan's scene the next day with Engin. For whatever reason that scene hit me hard. Hats off to Anil for his work there, the way his voice broke at times during that conversation really got to me. This type of true friendship scene was something that was sorely missing during the era of the other writers, and it was wonderful to see it back, just when Serkan needed it most. Serkan needed someone to shake him a bit about his fears of dying. I think the writers did a good job here, because while Serkan's neurosis and self-sabotage is maddening, with his history it's believable that he was stuck in a headspace where he really thought he couldn't be a father to Kiraz, or a partner to Eda, because he might up and die on them. I loved how Engin pointed out that Eda and Kiraz would not be the only ones affected if he died and how ridiculous it was for him to lock himself away.

I'm glad we got the scene with the doctor to really get a full glimpse of Serkan's view of his illness and it's also a relief to not only Serkan, but to us viewers that since five years have passed cancer-free he now has the risk of a typical healthy person. Serkan isn't the only one who has hang ups about his health, I think after amnesia and cancer viewers do too!

Finding out that Eda had made videos specifically for Serkan over the years, talking to him directly, hit hard. I wasn't really expecting that. I thought maybe she just had general photos and videos, like any doting parent would have, but the fact that she was always wanting him, documenting Kiraz's life and preparing for a day when he would hopefully take his place as Kiraz's father... wow. On the cynical side it makes it that much harder to believe that she never made more of an effort to tell him once Kiraz was born, but I won't focus on that. Not when the scene was as perfect as it was. Kerem again was stellar, he made me cry buckets. I think since amnesia many of us wanted an emotional response from him, thank goodness this story finally delivered it. The emotions running through him at that moment were overwhelming and Kerem did a fantastic job of portraying all of them, the heartbreak over everything he missed, the joy at seeing moments

from his daughter's life, the regret of not being there and being the partner Eda needed, the pride in the job Eda did in raising their daughter alone, and finally the bittersweet relief that Eda never forgot him.

It was a lot, but it was a good segue to the next scene when Eda calls him frantic because Kiraz went missing. What was clear from those videos was that while Eda, when we first meet her in Sile, appeared on the surface to have everything handled as a single mom, she always really wanted to have Serkan there as her partner. While Kiraz was pining for her dad, Eda was pining for Serkan as well. And we see this displayed in full force when Serkan arrives. Several people try to comfort Eda, including Burak, but she's not having it. However, as soon as Serkan gets there you can almost see the relief hit her in a wave. She's not in this alone anymore. Kiraz's father is there to help. Even if nothing is settled at that moment, she knows she can rely on Serkan and that he will know what to do. Which is supported by the fact that he clearly took charge the moment he found out, calling the authorities, having them begin searches etc.

But while highlighting his competence, conversely can we talk about how incompetently everyone else was at searching for Kiraz? They all acted worried, but did any of them make any real effort to find her? LMAO, they all seemed much more concerned with their own personal dramas. Especially egregious were Engin and Piril. Hello! Your son is clearly trying to tell you where the missing person is! Stop ignoring him. Thank goodness Serkan is very good at finding people.

Of course he found her and our hearts collectively shattered as we watched her trying to send a message to her Baba in space when in reality he was kneeling right there beside her, helping her tie the note to the balloon. If anything else was left to convince Serkan that he is wanted and needed, by both Eda and Kiraz, this situation was it. Even though some careless crew member spoiled the astronaut suit in an unnecessary IG story from the set, (that would have been a really good surprise) it was still satisfying to see this fairy tale play out. Never over "Baba?" and "Happy Birthday, my daughter" and now I can't wait to see Kiraz's reaction that her new friend Serkan Bolat is actually her dad and it should be pretty great to watch the three of them form a family together.

Overall this was the most emotional episodes of the series, and also one of the best.

Yesterday’s Lie was everything we hoped it would be!

Luz found her way back to the human realm, but not completely. She was able to see into it and talk to people, but she could not touch anything. To be fair, it was her and the house’s first attempt at building a portal door. I noticed that she tore off the thumb of Amity’s glove, so maybe that means they have four more chances to perfect the door and let her clear things up with her mom?

Once again, the show managed to surprise me. I thought that Creepy Luz was going to be some horrifying creature that Luz and Camila would have to confront together while clearing the air of where Luz has been the whole time and what she has been doing instead of attending camp. Creepy Luz is actually a greater basilisk- love the continuity reaching so far back to The First Day by the way- and she is a scared child looking for a safe haven from the Emperor’s Coven. I’ll admit that I did not recognize Michaela Dietz’s voice, my first impression was that they got the voice of Applejack and Rainbow Dash from MLP, Ashleigh Ball, to the voice instead, but I have since been corrected.

Through Luz and Vee’s, the greater basilisk’s name is Vee, trip around town to find magic for Vee to consume so she can continue masquerading as Luz, we got a greater glimpse at Luz’s home life. Her hometown is Gravesfield- how appropriate for a show exploring the demon realm and the horror genre- and Phillip Wittebane appears to have had a brother based on the town history, which raises a whole bunch of new questions regarding Belos and Hunter. Vee made friends at camp, and they seem to still enjoy their oddball hobbies like fortune telling, so maybe the camp would not have been so bad for Luz after all.

As it turns out, Camila is a veterinarian instead of a doctor or a nurse, which honestly makes a lot of sense since Luz probably brought a lot of wild animals like those snakes from the first episode home. She also came back and drove Vee, who had switched with Luz, to camp instead of having her wait for the bus.

Eda has made her mark in the human realm as a local legend, such as getting banned from a coffee shop for trying to buy stuff with a raccoon, and she made an impression on the villain of the episode, a local historian turned conspiracy theorist. I can’t believe they made a nod to the fan theory she was Stan from Gravity Falls’ ex-wife Marilyn, like they keep teasing us. She probably has a bunch of magic stuff scattered around that Vee and Camila will have to find to maintain Vee’s transformation.

Then we have the ending of the episode, which is a bittersweet note to finish the first half of the season on. Camila came to Vee’s rescue from the conspiracy nut and accepted her into her home, learned where Luz has been, and made Luz promise to stay in the human realm when she finally gets back. Luz is so happy and thriving in the demon realm, so for her to make that promise is a twist to the gut. Hopefully in time, Camila will see the support network Luz has now and release her from the promise like Amity did in Covention upon learning Luz could do magic in her own way.

Owl House is an amazing story. It has a cast of memorable, distinct characters; it has a creatively designed world with an equally inspired magic system. The show does everything exactly it’s supposed to- make you laugh, cry, and experience the whole spectrum of emotions. Not a lot of animated shows do that anymore, it’s all about cheap laughs from toilet humor and dumbing down the script so toddlers can understand what is going on.

Danny Phantom ended before it could reach its natural conclusion, and finished in a rushed mess. DuckTales ended before it could reach its natural conclusion, and finished with a sloppy finale and lots of hanging plot threads. Just two days ago, it came out that there were plans for a season 4 despite previous claims of intentions to finish with season 3. Infinity Train is currently in an unknown limbo, and could potentially end with Book 4 before reaching its natural conclusion with so many mysteries about how the train works still unanswered.

I refuse to let The Owl House suffer the same fate. You can help by sending letters, not emails, to Disney asking them for a full season four! It’s too late to extend season three, but there’s still a chance for more after that! Here’s the address:

Beastars AU

Luz going feral hcs?

Or just beastar AU hcs in general?

Luz wouldn't really go feral per say. Yes she's a omnivore technically speaking but mostly eats fruit and plants and only rarely has a bug or a fish to be healthy, she doesn't enjoy the taste all that much. so she wouldn't really go feral, doesn't get very agitated at the smell of meat but isn't revolted by it like most other herbivores, pretty much just neutral to it.

as for headcanons;

Hunter and Amity are both quite protective of Luz and it took them a little bit before they realized they were technically on the same side. Amity goes out of her way to try and be as non-threatening as possible and break away from how her parents raised her and the twins and just. be a non-threatening carnivore bc she still worries about freaking out Luz or her new friends and only going feral when a predator messes with them. Hunter? Hunter don't give a shit. he was never once taught in a way to look meeker or sweeter to herbivores and thus just. acts like a dude who was pretty messed up and also doesn't quite realize or care that hes generally very threatening. he has no problem growling and baring teeth at minor annoyances because thats just how a wolf is, they use body language to communicate and theres a big difference between his "god your so annoying please shut up" growl and his "okay time to rip someones THROAT OUT" growl. Luz is desensitized to it at this point and has zero fear at Hunter's barking, growling, howling, and otherwise flashing claws and teeth. so. Hunter and Amity don't exactly get along too well with Amity seeing Hunter as a carelessly dangerous delinquent who could seriously accidentally hurt someone and Hunter seeing Amity as an overly cautious pushover who believes Luz couldn't handle herself in any rocky situation. this is cat on dog violence over here.

pretty much every carnivore Luz has met has tried to eat her at least once. it doesn't bother her too much anymore because Thats Just Life I Guess and I use "almost eat" in a wide spectrum which ranges from 'eda went feral and literally almost ate her whole and it was kinda traumatic' to 'boscha contemplated eating her for a few minutes while they were talking but amity was hovering ominously in the background so nothing happened.' Hunter had a moment when he was half-starved and dealing with his care for Luz, mixed with his protectiveness, and fierce nature, all combining after he was having a Very Not Good Time and while clinging to her protectively was This Close to eating her and he has no idea if Luz knew or not and it very much haunts him, could go on a lot about that. Amity also almost did it for a few seconds when she and Luz were chilling and Luz was being very careless and thought the trick of sticking ones head in a lions mouth was cool as hell and just Did That (with permission) and Amity had an thought in that moment of "i could just close my mouth right now" which didnt help with the fact its a Thing in beastars that some carnivores literally cannot tell the difference between wanting to kill or love a herbivore. Amity ended the thought in like 7 seconds but she still feels very weird that she even Thought about it and every time a similar intrusive thought appears she wallows in misery for like an hour

it took Eda a good few moments before she remembered why Luz having a crush on a giant predator would be a problem since shes, you know, mainly a prey species and could be crushed like a grape. Luz at first thought this was just because Eda was careless and forgot normal things sometimes but then, of course, she met Raine. the fruit bat who had known Eda since they were kids and neither of them saw a problem that Eda is a near complete carnivore hybrid and Raine being pure herbivore. nobody ever really gave them side-eyes about it since most of them were always focused on Eda being a hybrid, and bats are most often associated with bug-eaters or blood suckers. so ofc Eda knows how dangerous she can be to herbivores but hearing little ol' Luz having a crush on a predator? eh, same situation, different perspectives to her, really.

speaking of Raine! love them, got some stuff to say. since they're a bat, they would definitely have a good ear for things like music and the like, so it wouldn't be too uncommon to see a bat in a music career, though very unlikely something loud like drums or trumpets since that would usually be too much for their sensitive ears. but heres the fun part: nearly all fruit bats don't use echolocation! they have no need for it and physically cannot produce the sounds needed for it. except for the egyptian fruit bat. those guys actually use echolocation to communicate with others rather than catch prey. so surprise! Raine is an egyptian fruit bat, which can be kind of lonely when only your own specific sub species understands what you're saying in your own specialized language, some regions of egyptian fruit bats even have their own dialects! Raine, of course, taught all of what they knew to Eda. Eda can't exactly replicate it all that well, but it still gave the two their own 'secret' language when they were kids, and you bet neither of them ever really forgot it.
