Feeling gratitude, right now!

Called the hair-dresser to set up an appointment for Tiny. She was willing to make an exception today, but explained that the higher-ups are requiring online appointments, now. I sadly mentioned I'd probably have to stop coming, can't make online appointments¹, and then gave her my info.

At this point, she saw the kids' names and remembered who I was. NQ is quite memorable, and we have to specially book ONLY her, because she likes the challenge and NQ now trusts her. (At least a LITTLE.)

So now I have an exemption! I can make phone appointments, and if anyone is concerned, she'll cover for them with head quarters! I get to use the excuse that we have disabilities. Which we do. The one being accommodated isn't the one on file, but the accommodation is still greatly needed!

¹ Partly, it's an executive dysfunction thing - my brain classifies online booking as more steps than a phone call, and gets overwhelmed. Mostly, it's a 'can't follow the logic flow of most websites' thing. I end up spending SO LONG stuck on seemingly minor steps - unable to find a button, or remember a password, or figure out what it's telling me to do. And anxiety about that happening contributes to the executive dysfunction, making the situation worse!

saw a take so fucking rancid on twitter i almost deleted the entire app from my phone jesus fucking christ

first of all ao3 is an archive site. this is like going to the library and saying "oh i dont like this" on every piece of media you find that you dislike and thinking they should be stamped with some sort of a marker just cause you didnt like it

you can always click back and leave. fic writers owe you nothing to explain themselves and their creations. if they have mistagged or miscategorized fics, then i understand, however there are report tools for that instead of yelling at the artist tbh

im not saying free works arent necessarily above criticism. but this is just. fucking wild. its common courtesy to just enjoy stuff (or fucking leave if you dont, the back button is free) and if the artist specifically asks for critiques, then give one - constructive that is, shitting all over someones work is not proper criticism, mind you

i just find it fucking wild people are treating art and archive sites as social media these days like this and everything needs to be policed and ~catered to the algorithm~ like. no. ao3 doesnt have an algorithm. you should be able to fucking tell what you like and what you dont like and steer away from that kind of content and let people fucking be with their art. they dont owe you anything (except trigger warnings i'd argue, but i know some people disagree with that as well for some reason), and imagine how much more energy you'd have if you only engaged with things you liked and spent time looking at instead of going to places where you dont enjoy yourself. let alone spending time telling other people you dont enjoy what they enjoy. what a fucking life

so I finished side order recently

#splatoon #pearl houzuki #agent 8 #marina ida #acht mizuta #my stuff #inktober piece 2 :)#shoutout to my brother who reminded me i could replay the credits whenever because i had to get some extra refs for eight's model #and saved me from having to slog up the tower again #now if only splatoon could do that for every cutscene eh. please #i want to relive a lot of cutscenes and youre killing me for it splatoon #anyway did you know splatoon's official art has. well it wildly varies from piece to piece #they all follow like a very loose guidelines but also they all split off into their own things half the time #me with seven tabs of art trying to figure out if i want to do lines to separate pearl's fingers: so this one has lines but this one doesnt #'this one isnt relevant to this issue all fingers are splayed'#so in the end i just did whatever i wanted. i think that's a core tenet of art. do whatever you want. forever #also spent an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out what was etched into marina's headphones #im 98% sure it is the off the hook logo. but nothing save from booting up splatoon and checking myself would say for sure #and i didnt wanna boot up splatoon cause if i did then id inevitably be down a couple hours because 'oh well im here already. one run maybe'#but regardless!! im proud of how this came out even if i was supposed to have finished two days ago to keep with my schedule #especially the bg :) i think i did really good on that.#and eight's little smile i think thats the charm point of the whole piece and it took me about ten drafts to get it properly #i think i did good on that too.#im so enamored with splatoon rn help

thinking about trying to do rangeland firefighting for at least one summer while I’m still in my 20s with derangements that make me love toiling like a medieval peasant but in order to do it next summer I would need to undergo a second, less illegal and contentious but some would say more difficult transition with my body. theatre kid to jock

#it would be such a cool experience but as you can imagine you need to meet a fitness requirement so the fires don’t destroy you etc etc #classic fire behavior but anyway you need to be able to walk 3 miles with a 45 pound pack in 45 minutes #it’s a test given by the forest service #however there are also a few other guidelines which are:#-can run 1.5 miles in 10 minutes 30 seconds #-can do 25 push ups #-can do 40 sit-ups #-can do 7 pull ups #easy for anyone who played footed ball in high school but unfortunately I was too busy not lifting things up and putting them down #but now I’m like. perhaps I could also pick heavy things up and put them down

PANEL 1: Perry Porter continues his news report. "Further investigation," he says, "reveals that this human has been the subject of sightings in Bonesborough for a few weeks now, and is the cause of a recent disturbance at Hexside School. For further comment, here is my own son, Augustus." PANEL 2: Perry interviews Gus, who is grinning with excitement. "Augustus, is it true you've encountered this human before?" "Yeah!" exclaims Gus, "She snuck into the school and now she's my friend! Her name is Luz!" PANEL 3: "Now that they're together, I can see…" says Belos. "It's them." With a point of his finger, he conjures hologram-like illusions of Luz and Lillith, who stand in the throne room facing them, with their names above their heads. "I don't understand," says Caleb. PANEL 4: The illusions have transformed into Luz and Lilith in their disguises from "Elsewhere and Elsewhen." The names over their heads have changed to "Luzura" and "Aunt Dirtrude." "I had to consult memory magic to be sure," Belos says, "but I was correct." Caleb reads the names out loud: "Luzura and--" PANEL 5: He points, laughing. "Wait, is that the witch who broke your nose?" "They're the two who helped me find the Collector," Belos grumbles. "I did always have questions about them. Clearly there was time magic involved."

PAGE TWO

PANEL 1: A profile view of Caleb, quietly sad. "I see," he says. "And this human attacked a witch in a duel." PANEL 2: But then he turns and brings a hand to his chin in thought. "But… the boy called her his friend?" "Either a cunning ploy, or she is… struggling to find her way," responds Belos. "Either way, she isn't ready to face a witch." PANEL 3: A view of footage from the news report, projected by the crystal ball. In a moment from the episode "Convention," Eda exposes the power glyph used on Amity while Luz looks on in surprise. Belos continues to speak off screen. "If it wasn't for the Owl Lady's intervention, she would have sorely lost." "The Owl Lady protected her?" Caleb asks. "Yes, it appears my suspicions were correct." PANEL 4: "The portal door has reappeared, in the hands of another one of your blasted Clawthornes." A close-up of Belos against a totally black background, his face shadowed. One hateful eye gleams from behind his mask. PANEL 5: A close-up of Caleb staring up at him, also shadowed against black. His face is lined, his single pupil a pinprick. His expression is schooled neutral. "And just as before," Belos continues off screen, "the witch has taken advantage to claim a human soul." PANEL 6: "No wonder the child came to me for help. If not for Lilith, perhaps I could have aided her back then." He stands in front of the projection, watching the newscast, his back to Caleb. "I should order her collected and brought here. Shield her from further corruption. If only the Owl Lady wasn't guarding her." PANEL 7: A close up of Caleb jolting forward, fearful. "NO!" he bursts out.

PAGE THREE

PANEL 1: A close-up of Belos glowering dangerously over his shoulder, lit by the broadcast from behind. "No?" PANEL 2: Caleb sweats. "I mean. Philip, don't you think it'll look suspicious to show too much interest in a human?" PANEL 3: Caleb takes Belos hand, clutching him imploringly. "Not to mention the possibilities of meddling in the time-line. It's too risky." Belos isn't looking at him anymore. He looks ahead at the illusion of Luz, whose back is to us in the foreground. His expression is unreadable. PANEL 4: A high angle shot of Belos and Caleb watching Luz's illusion. Caleb still clings to Belos. Luz's illusion is alone now, staring at them blankly as she stands at the far end of the throne room. "Yes," Belos agrees, "I fear it's too early to intervene. It seems the Lord is testing her." PANEL 5: "For now," he continues off screen, "she will have to face the temptations of this realm on her own." A close-up of Caleb, letting out a breath of relief. PANEL 6: Caleb's eyes snap open. Belos' hand has come up to brush his cheek. PANEL 7: Belos pulls Caleb into a hug. Caleb's face over Belos' shoulder is drawn in supressed, silent horror, cast in deep shadows, as Belos murmurs to him reassuringly. "Don't worry, Caleb. The Owl Lady will be taken care of. And then the portal to the human realm will be in safe hands." PANEL 8: Belos and Caleb in profile against a black background, casting long shadows on the ground. Belos hunches over Caleb, one arm around his back and the other hand on the back of his head, pressing him close. Caleb dangles limply, face towards the ceiling, pulled halfway out of his wheelchair. Belos murmurs into Caleb's hair. "I won't let history repeat."

Very fun :D

every time someone in a discussion about breeding for BOAS reduction in pugs says to 'look up this program called Retromops' i slip a little arsenic into the produce section at the grocery store

#the chances of getting one of them are slim #but grow a little every time 🙏#listen: we all know about retromops.#and because everyone knows about retromops and they went viral a decade ago its now being slapped on every puggish mix with a nozzle #regardless of overall health or ethics in breeding which #is one of the great challenges independent breeding programmes face.#second: independent programs like retromops are irrelevant to the general health of a breed because most of the time #the dogs in question are neither elgible for stud book registration or #are trusted or accepted by the breed community at large #so you can drool over them as much as you want and while we can hope the individual dogs are bred to a good ethical standard #it wont help pugs as a breed because those dogs will never reenter the gene pool.#which is frankly my worry re: the new skk guideline illustrations as well. you actually need both judges to judge by them -#and breeders to breed by them and so far #breed communities have NOT received it well.#i HOPE its just a bump in the road and it will end up having positive effects! but right now there are other things im #more optimistic about. such as entering the first generations of fully BOAS graded breeding stock

This is an SFW-only event, so no NSFW content is allowed

We will not accept any incest, or minor/adult pairings (this includes aging up characters who are minors throughout most of the series and pairing them with adult characters that way. for example, we won't accept Midoriya Izuku and All Might as a romantic pairing, even if you age up Midoriya, so they're both adults in your story)

Our rules about what counts as a rarepair are less to do with numbers, and more to do with judgement on how popular the ship is overall in the fandom.
