World Info/Extra !!
Most of my DR follows the lore in the beginning, but father down the line the lore is more of an outline as to what happens in my DR. (as of right now, i’m currently working on the actual timeline so it makes more sense to me in my script)
Basically, the school is like a college. The school days are super short and I’ve only got three classes. I go to school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 - 12:10. My classes are history, law, and spells. (in that order, too)
When I shift, it’ll be right before I make my pact with Mammon (all the way back in the beginning, like lesson 1) However, I’d have been there for two weeks and everyone (including me) has gotten comfortable and used to me being around. People treat me like a friend and I feel comfortable and at home at the school.

Backstory & Future !!
Basically, when I was in the human world, I was alone. I just lived in my apartment, went to work, came home, slept, then did it again the next day. It was NOT fulfilling at all but it was kind of my only option at that time. When I got chosen to be the exchange student in Diavolo’s program, I didn’t really complain when I ended up there. I was super confused and stuff, but kind of excited for the change.
As the year goes by, I get closer and closer with everyone and no one wants me to leave, including me. I feel more at home there than the human world. Still, the deal was that I would stay for a year, then go home. (Mammon at one point towards the end is like, “I will literally leave and go with you if you have to back. I swear I will.”) However, the week off, I end up turning into a demon myself. (HAVENT FIGURED THIS BIT OUT COMPLETELY, MAY JUST LET IT HAPPEN BY ITSELF 😰 The basics of this situation is that I had powers all along, they just weren’t apparent for quite some time. The atmosphere and surrounding magic in Devildom helped increase and show my powers, leading to me becoming so powerful I become a demon myself.) So then, I’m able to stay! :) (AHEM!! EDIT : I figured it out a bit more. It makes more sense now. If you want to read about it, click here!)
Solomon also stays to teach other humans in the future of the RAD exchange program.

Did someone say party and having fun?
Mammon is a bad influence on MC, compared to his brothers. He doesn't see why MC needs to live a strict life or stop having fun. So what if they get drunk, smoke, or vape?
As long as they don't commit any crimes, he will help MC, whether to sneak out to a party or get a pack of smokes.
Once in a while, Mammon does lecture them if they go overboard, but in the end he hugs them and tells them to enjoy their life.

Levi doesn't understand how MC likes to party every night. There's something called being too social...
Also, the amount of daily drama that happens thanks to MC's rebel lifestyle is too much for Levi. He's glad he carries around headphones.
Overall, he maintains his distance from them and prefers not to talk to them unless they want to talk about anime or video games.

Dad number 2.
After Lucifer, Satan gives the most lectures to MC. Don't get him wrong, he enjoys seeing Lucifer suffering while handling MC, but at the same time, he worries about their health.
Satan sometimes wonders if his rebellious phase was as bad. Did he give this much trouble to his brothers? He would say sorry except they don't deserve it.
Regardless, he won't stop until MC changes their lifestyle. For once, he agrees with the way Lucifer is handling this.

Eek. Drinking, smoking, vaping, and excessive partying will ruin your skin and health.
Asmo doesn't like MC's style of living and wants to help them change it for the better but is scared.
Why? MC insulted Asmo for trying to "lecture" them to take care of their health.
He wants to help them but getting insulted isn't worthwhile. If they continuously reject his help, Asmo will stop altogether. MC's life is their own, so they can do whatever they want with it.

Beel doesn't think of MC's rebellious phase at first but hearing his brothers lecturing them slowly opens his eyes.
What if they drink more than their body can handle? What if they smoke too much and get hospitalized? What if they go to a party and never come back? Beel stays up some nights and thinks about these questions while munching down.
There are times when Beel goes to the parties MC attends, throws them over his shoulder, and carries them back home. He doesn't know how to lecture MC or give them a lesson on how alcohol damages the body, but he can carry them home whenever needed.

Belphie finds MC's lifestyle too tiring. How does anyone have the energy to party so much? Asmo and Mammon combined, don't party this much.
Even more exhausting is the thought of helping MC improve their lifestyle.
So, Belphie is going to sleep sit on the bleachers and let his brothers take care of it.

So far they've only majorly used things from s1 (lessons 1-20) & s2 (lessons 21-40) in nightbringer but there's also;
• some stuff they said that relates to s3 (lessons 41-60) (solomon & asmo's pact)
• some stuff they will probably touch on that relates to s3 (barbatos & solomon's pact)
• some stuff that can be read on its own in nightbringer but is given more meaning after s3 & s4 (lessons 61-80) (simeon & lucifer's relationship, satan's issues, asmo's issues, diavolo's issues, mammon's feelings about making pacts)
• some stuff that is mentioned in nightbringer that is also mentioned in S3 that I think they're gonna connect (about MC's powers)
• some stuff that hasn't been touched on in nightbringer yet but that may probably be relevant in the future (the twins, satan's, lucifer & simeon's greatest fears from s3, how s4 ends for MC)
The biggest spoiler in nightbringer so far is about the ending of S2

For question 1, we think that they could be referenced at some point, but they probably won't be making any appearances. The game has made mentions of a few other demons at various points, but for the most part, they seem to avoid actually having non-depicted characters actually show up repeatedly. The two major exceptions to this are Michael, and that one random butcher in Season 3.

As for question 2...
(spoilers for NB Lesson 21 below the cut)
We're assuming you're talking about the scene where it was certainly implied that Asmodeus successfully charmed MC into helping them. It was an interesting scene as before it's been established that Asmo's charm powers don't work on MC -- which, notably, has never really been explained. We can assume it had something to do with the Lillith connection, but even that doesn't make much sense since Asmo's powers work on everyone else. It seems to be more of a "MC is a special case for gameplay reasons" thing than anything really.
The story has made it clear that we are losing connection with our timeline, which is probably the explanation we can point to here -- basically due to timey-wimey-wibbly-wobbly-fucky-wucky shit. Us being in this timeline is just breaking everything. We're not supposed to be here!!
Beyond that we really don't know why MC's inherent immunity to his charm ability would be affected. But like a lot of OM's special MC quirks, it's kind of hand-wavey about it, so we just have to smile and nod and hope/wonder if it'll ever be explained someday.

Loki’s plans to conquer and rule Midgard have come to a disastrous end. After being captured by the Avengers, he is being held on Earth. Odin has refused to interfere, and the outlook for the God of Mischief appear bleak. His only hope may lie in one mortal woman, a Psychiatric expert brought in to interrogate him.
Dr. Caroline Thorpe is intrigued by Loki and thinks that more lies beneath his actions than is commonly known. Can she find out the truth before he is shipped off to die for crimes against the Earth? And can Loki bring himself to care?

"Loki! Loki, look at me brother!"
Loki did his best to follow Thor's instructions, but his eyes could barely focus as he raised them to his brother's face. It felt as though all of the emotions in the multiverse were screaming inside Loki's head, pushing for a way out of the confinement of his skull. If his head had burst open and rained chaos on the world, Loki would not have been surprised to see it.
"You do not look well," Thor said with dramatic understatement. "I should go get Mother."
"No!" Loki pulled all of his internal strength together to control the riot of feeling overwhelming him. "Not yet. Tell me."
"Tell you what?" Thor asked, face a mask of panic as he struggled to make sense of his brother's brusque demands.
"Everything," Loki rasped. "How long."
"Since you were brought back?"
Loki shuddered as he tried to come up with a reset moment. He remembered preparing for Thor's coronation. He had thought himself a tangle of feeling then, although it could not compare to this moment.
He had been honestly proud of Thor, his brave older brother looking every inch a hero in his new armor and helm. At the same time, he seemed to be the only one aware of how unprepared Thor was for the responsibility about to be thrust at him. Odin was a great war chief and wise ruler, but he when it came to passing on those skills, he had fallen somewhat flat. After all, when all of your edicts are obeyed as a matter of law, why would you expect that lessons bellowed at your sons would not also be instantly absorbed and made into action?
Loki could tell that Thor had not seen the deeper meaning behind Odin's stories of their history. He saw only the glory of victory, not the cost that those victories levied. When Loki attempted to point out these truths to Thor, his brother accused him of cowardice. When he intimated to Odin that Thor was missing the larger picture, he was accused of envy that the crown would not pass to him, that or trite hopes that the weight of ruling would mature his rash brother. As usual, no one took his concerns seriously.
Which led to another emotion - frustration. Why was it always Thor who was advanced, when Loki was the one who saw, who heard, and understood? What was his great flaw that despite his greater apprehension he was forever second best to Thor?
"Since your coronation," he said, deciding it was as good a starting point as ever.
"There was no coronation Loki, you know that," Thor sounded put out by the subject, but Loki couldn't let it go.
"I remember. You entered to great fanfare."
"And do you remember the Jotuns?" Thor demanded. "The Frost Giants that you let in to ruin the day for me?"
A new wave of feeling surged inside him at the mention of their ancient enemies. Loki slid off the bench onto the floor, eyes welling up with unshed tears. Why? Had something happened at the ceremony? He did vaguely remember a plot to postpone the coronation now, only so that Odin would watch Thor spin out of control and perhaps delay for a few decades.
"Loki, you truly seem unwell. I think we need to get you to mother. These unpleasant memories of your breakdown are not helping either of us."
Breakdown? Was that why he had been in the infirmary? Had Loki been so envious of his brother that he had slipped into madness? That would explain why Sif and Fandral had acted so strangely around him, but Loki was sure there was more. After all, he had suffered humiliation and envy his entire life; why should one more instance be of such great matter?
"You said... mortal Doctor?"
It was the last thing he could remember Thor saying before the deluge had begun. As he brought it up now, new emotions rose to the surface, crowding out the pain. Joy, acceptance, fear, and love. He did not know why, but it was as though a healing balm soothed the raw nerve that was his inner self.
"Loki, something is not right."
Well, obviously! Any number of things were not right. But the mortal, this Doctor he was reaching for a memory of. Loki had the feeling that she was more than alright. She might just be the key to everything.
"Thor, you're back!"
"Mother! Thank all the realms! Come quick."
Out of the corner of his eye, Loki saw the dim shape of Friga sprint onto the terrace, and then she was dropping neatly to the ground beside him.
"Loki! What are you doing out of bed?"
A cool hand was pressed to his forehead, but Loki shied back from it. He did not know what had happened to him, but the fear that these barely remembered feelings might be taken from him again caused him to instinctively recoil.
"No!" he gasped. "I need them!"
"Thor, what happened? What did you say?" their mother turned to her elder son anxiety obvious even through the miasma of Loki's haze.
"Nothing! I told him I was glad to see him looking better," Thor replied defensively. "And he was, until a moment ago!"
"Did you bring up anything about his accident? Or the time he was away? Anything that might have upset him?"
"Upset him, no! I even defended him against Sif and Fandral when they wanted to hold the Midgard nonsense against him!"
"They talked to him about Midgard? What did they say?"
"I don't know exactly I only caught the end of it. You know, just about the invasion, the Chitari, oh! And the Destroyer from before his time in the Void."
The Void! The word chilled him as deeply as Thor's mention of a Doctor had warmed. He had known a Void. Had hoped and dreaded it all at once.
"Loki, listen to me," Frigga was kneeling beside him again. "You have been through a great ordeal. A few days ago, you were almost killed by a blast from a solar phaser. It tried to rewrite all of your atoms into something not able to live. If you had been anyone else, you would not have survived. It was only because of your own fluid nature, that you made it through at all."
"Sounds wonderful," he managed to almost joke.
"You needed all of your strength to live," she continued, ignoring his interjection. "All of your energy to rebuild the pathways of your mind and body. We couldn't have you struggling. We definitely couldn't have you trying to work against us."
It made sense. He had studied for a time with Eir, and he knew that will was just as important in these matters as physical metal.
"There are... some things that happened to you," she went on, choosing her words with obvious care. "Unpleasant things, to put it mildly. You went through a very dark ordeal, my precious son. I am only partially aware of what was done to you, and it is almost more than I can bear. If I had the power, I would hunt down the ones who hurt you and make them pay and pay and pay again."
Friga was not often blood thirsty. If she was so open to revenge now, it must have indeed been a horrible fate he was subjected to.
"In order to allow you time to heal, Eir and I went into your mind. We built a wall between you and the memories of torture. It was our hope that when your body had mended, we could lower the blockade slowly, and allow you some memory of the hell you went through but alleviated by our combined magic. I had not expected you to rise so quickly from your sick bed. I'm afraid the mention of the pain it before we could prepare you has brought it all back at once."
"But it was not mention of Midgard that did this to him," Thor said hastily, sounding for the world like a guilty child.
"Then what?" Friga asked.
"It was when I brought up the woman. Caroline. The one who is in love with him."
"In love with me?" Loki gasped.
Thor had mentioned before that he was courting this mysterious woman, and that Loki claimed to love her. He had also said that she had shot him. That all had seemed to match Loki's expectations when it came to romance. He was not without occasional dalliances, he was a prince after all, but at the end of the day no one was in love with him. Certainly not someone he loved in return. But Thor said this woman... Caroline, a lovely name... was in love with him. So why was she not here, and why had she shot him?
"The woman who shot him?" Friga asked, clearly as surprised as Loki.
"Yes," Thor nodded. "Didn't I tell you that part?"
"It appears to have slipped your mind," she said tartly.
"She and Loki formed an attachment. Friend Stark and I found them hiding after she broke him out of prison. At first, I thought he had kidnapped and enchanted her..."
"Thor!" their mother admonished.
"Well, she was tied up," Thor explained. "But in truth she had fallen in love with him. She is quite lovely, and smart as well. For a mortal."
"Oh, Loki, if only I had known!" Friga exclaimed. "When we cleared your mind of the torture, we must have cleared it of this woman as well."
"Caroline," he said, barely hearing his mother.
A hazy image began to form in his brain. A mass of untidy hair. Kind, keen eyes. A smile that formed at the most odd moments. Loki felt his heart begin to beat a rapid pace. Yet, despite his accelerated heartrate, the roiling pain of negative emotions began to ease even more. The warmth her name inspired spread through Loki, allowing him to breath.
"If what you say is true, where is she?" Friga demaned.
"I don't know," Thor confessed. "I was too concerned with Loki. He was so weak."
Loki winced at the description, but he could tell there was honest fear in his brother's voice, so he let it go.
"I thought only to get him back to Asgard," Thor continued. "I suppose Dr. Caroline would have been taken into SHIELD custody. It would have been easy enough once we had taken the Mind Stone away. In any case, she collapsed herself when Loki dove in front of the gun."
"Why would I do that?" Loki asked, of himself as much as of his brother.
"I have been wondering that myself," Thor said with a shrug.
"Oh Loki," Friga looked at him with compassion in her eyes he did not quite understand. "You do love her."
"Yes," he said slowly, not knowing who she was or what had passed between them, and yet somehow absolutely certain that his mother was right. "Yes, I do."

"So, this former patient that Stark was talking about - that was the alien who invaded Manhattan?"
"It was more complicated than that, but yes. Loki," Caroline tried to keep her voice steady as she said his name.
"Excuse me for being blunt, but he's not the best advertisement for sanity."
"I can see why you would think that Mr. Murdock."
Caroline could not blame the man for his skepticism. Even without being able to see her haggard appearance, she knew she presented a far from put together presence. And as much as she loved Loki and understood the reasons for his actions, he had come across as a bit unhinged during the whole invasion.
"Matthew is fine," he told her with a lopsided smile that was somehow boyish. "I've never really talked to a therapist before."
"More a go it alone type?" she asked half-heartedly.
"I guess. Although as Stark pointed out, I do talk to my priest on occasion."
"That wasn't just hyperbole?" her attention was actually drawn for a moment.
"You sound surprised."
"I guess I just don't know a lot of people who actively practice religion. The enhanced individuals I've been working with lately tend to not believe in any higher power than themselves."
"Well, in all fairness your last patient called himself a God."
Caroline tried to hide the wince at the comment. It hurt to talk about Loki as though he were just another client. He had come to be so much more than that to her.
"I don't mean to over-step, but it seems like maybe you need to talk to someone more than I do, Dr. Thorpe."
"Do you moonlight as a priest, Mr. Murdock?" she tried for humor and felt it fall flat.
"Matt. And no, my calling was in a different direction. But circumstances have turned me into a pretty good listener."
"Thanks, but I've been self-indulgent enough these past days," she replied, ignoring his attempted at self-depreciating humor. "I don't need to bore you with my drama."
"Somehow I doubt a relationship with an alien demi-god who tried to crown himself king of New York would be boring."
"No, no it was not. Loki was a lot of things, but boring was never one of them."
"Was a lot of things? Past tense?" he was quick, this lawyer.
"That's the million dollar question. You see, I shot him."
"Shot him? With a gun?"
"A ray gun... sort of. Alien tech."
"Is he alright?"
"I don't know. Thor - his brother - took him back to their planet to heal him. That was over a week ago, and there has been no word since."
"But he was alive when you saw him last?"
"Barely," the image of Loki, breath shallow and unconscious, swam in her suddenly tear-filled eyes. "I didn't mean to shoot him. I was aiming for someone else. Someone who deserved to die. Loki dove in front and took the shot himself."
"Maybe he didn't share your opinion of the intended target."
"Oh, he did," Caroline laughed darkly. "Loki would have happily killed the man himself. I had to make him promise me he wouldn't before we came in fact."
"I don't understand. If you didn't want the man killed, then why -"
"Did I try to shoot him?" she asked. "I know this will sound impossible..."
"Dr. Thorpe, I'm a blind lawyer who fights mystic ninjas in my spare time. Believe me when I tell you very little sounds impossible to me."
Well, when he put it that way...
"I was being mind controlled by a magic rock from outer space."
"Okay, I can see how you might think that could sound unlikely," the half grin was back, but there was a kindness to it that let her know he was not laughing at her but attempting to laugh with her.
"Unlikely, but true. It was what was being used to control Loki during his invasion. We were working, along with Tony and Thor, to contain it and remove it from Earth. Unfortunately, I wasn't strong enough to resist it. Before I knew what I was doing, I was pointing the gun at Secretary Pierce and pulling the trigger."
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but you said this... rock... was strong enough to control Loki himself?" Matt was leaning forward in concentration.
"Yes," she conceded.
"And he is some sort of magical demi-god himself. So, it doesn't seem like it should be surprising that you would be unable to resist it. Maybe you need to be a little less hard on yourself."
"I shot the man I love."
"No, you didn't," he objected, raising his hand when she tried to argue back. "You shot a man you despised. Secretary Pierce. At least, I assume you despise him since you said he deserved to die. We'll come back to that in a minute. But you shot Pierce. That was your action. It was Loki's action to keep to your shot from hitting its intended target."
"If I hadn't fired, he would still be here."
"You don't know that. None of us can know what might have been. Maybe you would have killed Pierce and soldiers would have burst in and shot you all. You can't ever be sure. All you can be sure of is what did happen. Loki kept you from doing something you could never take back. His love for you was strong enough to spare you the guilt that would have followed you around for the rest of your life."
"How do you know it would have?" she challenged.
"Because you are a good person. I may not know you well, but even brief acquaintance with you is enough to see that. Vengeance isn't ours, Dr. Thorpe. We don't get to decide who lives and who dies. I've watched making that decision consume otherwise good people, until they become a shell of themselves. My guess is your Loki has seen the same thing. You didn't shoot him, he saved you. Don't take that choice, that action away from him."
As Murdock spoke the last words, Caroline felt them strike something within her. All his life, people had taken Loki's choices from him. His parents not telling him his true parentage, Thor's friends refusing to see how his rule played out before turning against him, Thanos torturing him until he could bend Loki's will to his own. Over and over, he had been robbed of his agency. Was she doing that now as well?
"You've given me a lot to think about," she admitted.
"I'm a really good lawyer," he grinned again. "I know how to make an argument."
"Remind me to get your card before you go," she smiled weakly. "I might need a good defense attorney before this whole thing plays out."
"It would be my pleasure, Dr. Thorpe," he said, placing a comforting hand over hers.
"If you want to keep that hand," a deceptively quiet voice spoke from the doorway, "I suggest you remove it from my Lady's. Now."

EZEKIEL 37
Rebirth simply means the process of being reincarnated or born again and the action of reappearing or starting to flourish or increase after a decline; a revival as stated by Jesus in John 3:3.
Christianity is a resurrection walk of life. God showed Ezekiel a valley full of dry bones which reminds us of what we are when we are full of sin, God shows us as He did Ezekiel a vision of His power to bring life to where there is death, fully revealed in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Ezekiel’s vision of the valley of dry bones reverses the process of death-showing us that there is a spiritual process to everything in life.
One important thing to note in the text is the absolute need for the spoken word of God. Scripture is full of instructions to “speak to,” without which the word of God will be ineffective if silent. After God’s word went from Ezekiel’s mouth, the miracle of life, restoration, revival, reversal and resurrection began.
As Ezekiel prophesied, the bones came together by process, first the skeletons, then the sinew, flesh, and skin. Then finally, the wind blew upon the inanimate bodies, and they came alive. What situation, dead, stunted, slow or challenging do you need to prophesy to today, it doesn’t matter how long it’s been dead. Those dry bones, “very dried bones” can rise and live again, as seen in verse 2.
There wasn't any hope of life in them before this.
Ezekiel could have said to the Lord “It's too late, too dry, no longer needed or necessary or whatever else he felt or thought but after acknowledging that the Lord was the only one who knew what He God could do, He obeyed the Lord’s instructions, see Deuteronomy 32:29.
This vision is a lesson for us as well. These dry bones represent people. The Bible says, "He that hath the Son hath life…" 1 John 5:12. If you don’t have Jesus, your bones will be bleached and dried. Spiritually speaking, they'll have no life. Just as water gives the parched earth life, God's Word and the living water of His Spirit brings dry souls new life according to Isaiah 44:3.
Bones are always associated with death, yet Scripture tells one story in which bones were a source of life. In 2 Kings 13:20-21, we find that Elisha’s bones, with a double portion of Elijah's spirit, radiated life even in the grave!
Our text is a vision of hope, that’s what God's Word and His Spirit can bring to any situation and any soul, no matter how utterly hopeless or dead it might be.
Aaron’s rod revived when it was placed in the ark of the covenant overnight, it budded, flowered, and produced almonds in Numbers 17:8! If God can make an old stick fruitful in His presence, He can do the same for us.
Verse 14 says “I will put My Spirit in you. God’s reputation is at stake in the restoration and regeneration of humanity, including ours. He must do what He promised so all will know that He is Lord.
When we come to Christ, God raises us from spiritual death, as our old nature is dying, our new nature is growing.
God has put His word in our mouths, so we must speak over matters of life and death in a world of death and decay.
Prophesy into the dry places in your life and let the wind of God restore life because God can "make those bones live" too. There is no situation into which he can't breathe life. God's Holy Spirit is His gift to you, and He can enliven even places and people who seem beyond hope.
PRAYER: Breathe upon me Lord and restore life to every dead area of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Lessons from the Beatitudes Part 4
Summary of the Beatitudes Matthew 5:3-6
Jesus departed from the crowds and went up the mountain, the disciples came to him. This in a sense represents going on with Him i.e. a step of consecration, coming out of the crowd to follow Him. Being a disciple means to follow the Master and obey his teaching and commands.
Come and meet Christ on the mountain if you want to be his disciple.
Q. Why go to the mountain? A. to get away from distractions and closer to God.
To the fleshly mind the Beatitudes seem like madness or confusion but to the spiritual man they are a source of joy and direction. Jesus commands His Church to go therefore and make disciples of all nations baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.. Only disciples can disciple others and here is one of the major teachings to make us into disciples.

Matthew 5:3-12
Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peace makers for they shall be called the sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when men cast insults at you and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely on account of Me…
Beatitudes; (Latin) meaning blessednesses.
Blessed; definition: happy, to be envied and spiritually prosperous (that is with life joy and satisfaction with God's favour regardless of the outward conditions). This is the state of heart and mind we all long for! It is the attitude of heart or mind that is fulfilled only in God.
Blessed: Makarios; Greek is used to describe God himself; it is enjoying life as God enjoys it
Consider a step wise progression of the Beatitudes. They represent the starting point and how to make progress in coming to maturity. Maturity in Christ is our vision.
It might also be that the beatitudes may give us the pattern of tackling every project in our spiritual lives!
v.3. Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. We must admit our inadequacy and failure to God (sin, shame, pride, fear, insecurity, self-sufficiency). All our (own) righteousness, all our own good deeds are as filthy rags to God. This is the starting point. This poverty of spirit (attitude of heart/mind) opens the door to the kingdom of God. It is impossible to enter the kingdom in any other state of heart. The kingdom of God is within you i.e. when the love of Christ that is shed abroad in our hearts and influences our whole life, thoughts, and actions. Only admission of our poverty in spirit before and to God can enable Him to breathe His life into us (c.f. salvation experience).
v.4 Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted. This means mourning over our sins to go on with God we must firstly confess our sins and express sorrow on an ongoing basis before God. The Greek word for mourn is mainly used in the New Testament in the context of mourning over other sins rather than bereavement.
James 4:8-11; v.9 mourns and weep for your sins.
1 Corinthians 5:1-2; v2 Church had failed to mourn over incestuous immorality.
2 Corinthians 12:21; Paul mourns over churches unrepented sin.
We might need to ask Him to take away any enjoyment of the sin. We then ask for forgiveness and the grace to avoid falling into the same trap. When we reach this point of mourning over our sins God can do something with us. We must mourn for our own sins, for the church’s sins and those of the nation.
v.5 Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth. Meekness is not weakness. Meekness incorporates strength and gentleness and includes humility (paradox). It is the branch that bears most fruit that bows the lowest on the tree. Humility is to see your true standing before God. To recognise His power and majesty (the surpassing beauty of holiness) and yet at the same time to realise his great love for you. In meekness we stop telling God how to do it and submit to His will. We then enter His strength and ability, as we become lesser in our own eyes, so He becomes greater and brings all his abilities into the situation. Meekness with humility removes paralysing fear from us and produces courage in us to go and possess the land, to begin to fulfil all our destiny in Christ. We no longer try to do things in our own strength.
v.6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Now that we are no longer bound in fear or in self-sufficiency (due to meekness with humility) we can ask God to fill us with a hunger and thirst for His things. Having confessed and turned from our sins and admitted our inadequacy before Him He is ready to create these desires in our hearts.
To hunger for

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL
SUNDAY 13TH NOVEMBER 2022

THEME: A LESSON IN OBEDIENCE
“And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross”  (Philippians 2:8).
In Luke 3:38, when you study the genealogy of Adam, he was called the son of God. So, if the first Adam was the son of God and the second Adam, Jesus Christ, is the Son of God, what is the difference between the two sons of God?
The answer is in the parable that Jesus gave in Matthew 21:28-31 of two sons. Their father told the sons to go work in his vineyard. The first son assured his father that he would go, but he did not; he disobeyed. The second son told his father he would not go, but he went. Jesus then asked, “Which of the two sons obeyed his father?”
Clearly, the obedient one is the one who actually did his father’s will, though initially refusing to do so. Now, in his father’s will, though initially refusing to do so. Now in the Garden of Gethsemane, in the final moments before Jesus was arrested to be crucified, He prayed earnestly “Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine be done” (Luke 22:42).
Jesus did not want to do it, but He did it anyway! So, our theme verse says of Jesus, “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” Jesus’ exaltation came because He was obedient unto death. But the failure of the first Adam was his disobedience.
The Bible says, “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous” (Romans 5:19). Had the first Adam obeyed, the second Adam would not have been necessary. So, the difference between the first Adam and the second Adam was obedience.
Obedience is very important; it pays to listen to God and follow His ways. Being born again, we are born in the nature of the second Adam, Jesus Christ, and we have His obedient Spirit. Hence, in 1 Peter 1:14, we are called His obedient children. Walk therefore in this nature of Christ in you and please the Father always.     
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the privilege of receiving spiritual instructions, which convey your wisdom. Continually, your Spirit guides me to apply my heart to spiritual instructions – doing things your way, which is the surest measure for guaranteed progress in life. As I demonstrate obedience to your Word, I walk in success, victory, excellence and glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

In the books of Matthew and Mark in the Bible, there is a rather strange story about Jesus having a bit of a conflict with….a fig tree. Figs are yummy and all, but this is pretty extreme. This fig tree didn't have any fruit on it - because it wasn't actually fig season yet - and Jesus was hungry. So what's a hungry god-man to do? Curse the tree so it will never bear fruit again of course! Damn tree.
Matthew 21:18-20 Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered. When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. Mark 11:12-14 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. Then he said to the tree, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard him say it. Jesus was apparently a pretty cryptic guy - or the people writing down his words were - either way, there are quite a few stories like this in the Bible (and that's excluding the book of Revelation which is its own brand of crazy). But God was downright sadistic. Let's take a look at some lessons found in the Bible that most people probably didn't learn in Sunday School.
God has a thing with sex and genitals
Maybe it's because he doesn't get to have it, but according to the Bible, God uses sex (and genitals) to control or punish people more than once. Using rape, incest and circumcision to teach lessons would not be allowed with humans, but apparently it's totally cool for God to do it.
God established the practice of male circumcision as proof of the people's willingness to obey him pretty early on.
Genesis 17:10-12 This is my agreement with you and all your descendants, which you must obey: Every male among you must be circumcised. Cut away your foreskin to show that you are prepared to follow the agreement between me and you. From now on when a baby boy is eight days old, you will circumcise him. This includes any boy born among your people or any who is your slave, who is not one of your descendants.
David, the future king and the man chosen by God to defeat the Philistines (of David and Goliath fame), went out with his men and killed 200 Philistines and "collected" their foreskins, then used them as the payment for marrying King Saul's daughter, Michal. Now that's what I call an engagement present.
1 Samuel 18:24-26 When Saul's servants told him what David had said, Saul said, "Tell David, 'The king doesn't want money for the bride. All he wants is a hundred Philistine foreskins to get even with his enemies.'" Saul planned to let the Philistines kill David. When Saul's servants told this to David, he was pleased to become the king's son-in-law. So he and his men went out and killed two hundred Philistines. David brought all their foreskins to Saul so he could be the king's son-in-law. Then Saul gave him his daughter Michal for his wife.
God commanded rape in so many places in the Bible it's hard to pick just one, but a passage in 2 Samuel is pretty bad and is a great example of God using rape and child murder as a punishment.
2 Samuel 12:11-14 "This is what the Lord says: 'I am bringing trouble to you from your own family. While you watch, I will take your wives from you and give them to someone who is very close to you. He will have sexual relations with your wives, and everyone will know it. You had sexual relations with Bathsheba in secret, but I will do this so all the people of Israel can see it.'" Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the Lord." Nathan answered, "The Lord has taken away your sin. You will not die. But what you did caused the Lord's enemies to lose all respect for him. For this reason the son who was born to you will die."
God even commanded a raped woman to marry her attacker.
Deuteronomy 22:28-29 If a man meets a virgin who is not engaged to be married and forces her to have sexual relations with him and people find out about it, the man must pay the girl's father about one and one-fourth pounds of silver. He must also marry the girl, because he has dishonored her, and he may never divorce her for as long as he lives.
…and on that note, it's pretty clear that God really hates women… A LOT
Aside from all the raping, even a quick reading of the Bible reveals that God hates women. This can be easily explained using cultural context and by looking at who actually wrote the Bible and when - but it seems if God is perfect, he would teach people not to be sexist a-holes. But in both the New and Old Testaments, the Bible teaches us otherwise. In 1 Corinthians 14 and 1 Timothy 2, women are told not to talk and Titus is practically a how-to manual on being a good, quiet and submissive Christian woman. In fact, most of the epistles are totally sexist.
1 Corinthians 14:34-36 women should keep quiet in the church meetings. They are not allowed to speak, but they must yield to this rule as the law says. If they want to learn something, they should ask their own husbands at home. It is shameful for a woman to speak in the church meeting. Did God's teaching come from you? Or are you the only ones to whom it has come? 1 Timothy 2:9-12 Also, women should wear proper clothes that show respect and self-control, not using braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes. Instead, they should do good deeds, which is right for women who say they worship God. Let a woman learn by listening quietly and being ready to cooperate in everything. But I do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to listen quietly,
He also doesn't seem too fond of the unborn, infants and children
Not only does the Bible tell of infanticide, abortion and child murder, it actually tells us God, or his representatives at his behest, commanded it. Not cool God, not cool at all.
The prophet Hosea spoke of pregnant women being ripped open and children being torn to pieces because the nation of Israel had "fought against God."
Hosea 13:16 The nation of Israel will be ruined, because it fought against God. The people of Israel will die in war; their children will be torn to pieces, and their pregnant women will be ripped open."
And Jeremiah told of a time when God would destroy the city and make people so hungry that they would eat their kids.
Jeremiah 19:9 An enemy army will surround the city and will not let anyone go out to get food. I will make the people so hungry that they will eat the bodies of their own sons and daughters, and then they will begin to eat each other.'
As an interesting side note, the historian Flavius Josephus told of Jews starving in Jerusalem during the Roman siege of 70 CE who actually did eat their own children.
…and perhaps one of the most disturbing is Psalm (a song of celebration) 137 in which the psalmist is proclaiming retribution by smashing babies against rocks. Very uplifting.
Psalm 137:8-9 People of Babylon, you will be destroyed. The people who pay you back for what you did to us will be happy. They will grab your babies and throw them against the rocks.
When God likes you, you can get away with ANYTHING
King David, Cain, all the prophets, all the apostles, Noah, Adam, King Saul…they all committed atrocious acts of violence, greed, sexism, racism, etc. You name it, at least one of them did it, often multiple times. And yet the Bible tells us God blessed them with money and/or power and the apostles were the ones who essentially established the Christian religion…hmmm…
When God doesn't like you, you're probably dead, and your death will probably be creative
Lot's wife turned into a salty version of her former self just because she looked back on her hometown from which she was fleeing because…well…because God was pissed off and was destroying it with burning sulfur.
Genesis 19:26 At that point Lot's wife looked back. When she did, she became a pillar of salt.
People got swallowed up by giant cracks in the earth.
Numbers 16:32 The earth opened and swallowed them and all their families. All Korah's men and everything they owned went down.
42 Kids got mauled by two mother bears because they mocked the baldness of one of the prophets (no joke).
2 Kings 2:23-24 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. On the way some boys came out of the city and made fun of him. They said to him, "Go up too, you baldhead! Go up too, you baldhead!" Elisha turned around, looked at them, and put a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two mother bears came out of the woods and tore forty-two of the boys to pieces.
…and a bonus: Mark 14 tells of a disciple at the time of Jesus' arrest who was only wearing a towel which was grabbed off him and he ran away naked. Yep. Naked. Who was he? No one knows…in the Bible is a naked mystery man.
Mark 14:51-52 A young man, wearing only a linen cloth, was following Jesus, and the people also grabbed him. But the cloth he was wearing came off, and he ran away naked.
Where do Christians get the image of a loving, just God who wants to bless and heal people and give them peace on earth and good will toward men? It definitely isn't from a simple reading of the Bible. Even though the Bible continues to be a very highly sold book, it's probably safe to say that most people, even Christians, haven't read everything that's in it. This alone makes it easy for Christian leaders now and throughout history, to tell people pretty much anything about God and get them to believe it. And of course a benevolent god is a being more appealing on which to establish a religion.
The Bible contains many inconvenient stories, passages and lessons. This inconvenience is even a reason apologists will give for its validity. The argument goes something like this, "If people wanted to invent a god and a holy book, wouldn't it make sense to make it beautiful and perfect? Its imperfection and difficult passages are evidence that it's real." Apologetics aside, today in the developed world, most of the more disturbing or unbelievable scriptures in the Bible are explained away as "metaphor" or "culturally unique". But the truth is that there are some really messed up lessons in the Bible that aren't limited to a handful of goofy verses and the most sadistic behavior is modeled by God himself.

Insecure Decisions and God’s Steadfast Plan | 1 Samuel 8:21-22
Have you recently made a bad decision?
Welcome to the Daily Devo. I am Vince Miller.
This week, we are in 1 Samuel 8. I've titled this chapter "When Our Insecurities Define Us."
Today, our text is 1 Samuel 8:21-22, which reads:
And when Samuel had heard all the words of the people, he repeated them in the ears of the Lord. And the Lord said to Samuel, “Obey their voice and make them a king.” Samuel then said to the men of Israel, “Go every man to his city.” — 1 Samuel 8:21-22
This is a sad and solemn moment in Israel's history, and Samuel finds himself at a crossroads. Despite his reservations, he was directed to acquiesce to the people's desires as directed by God.
There are a few items worth touching on here. First, this had to be an arduous decision for Samuel. He was old and wise enough to know that this change would have far-reaching consequences. Like a father with a wayward son, he could warn them of the dangers, but he knew they would have to make their own choice and learn from it. Second, Samuel, as a great judge, never compromised his role. He listened to the people and, with integrity, brought their requests to God. Then, he communicated with God and relayed the messages given to him by God to them. It takes great restraint to do this when you know you could alter the situation with a subtle manipulation. Third, it's also worth noting that he doesn't immediately give them what they want. Instead, he sends them home, possibly to think about it. But their bias has set in, and they are convinced that they want a king and are determined to have one.
Israel made another bad decision, one that would result in numerous complications in the future. They rejected God as their King and chose instead to have a mortal reign over them. This choice would ultimately teach them many hard lessons about kings—one we are still learning in our own time—that there is only one just and righteous king—the King of Kings, Jesus Christ.
If God is truly King, then he cannot be voted out. Our plans never outmaneuver his plan, even when we plan to reject him. Thus, our plans never prevent his plan. We could make a lifetime of flawed plans, but nothing will stop the Eternal King. Right into this story, during the reign of an oppressive Roman King, God inserted a sinless son into the story by royal appointment, who would live, die, and rise again as the King of Kings.
So, while this moment is sad, salvation from sin will come because our lifetime of bad decisions will never stop the King of Kings.
