today among the horifying objects I have come across at Camel Town, I present a murcury thermometre.
Tumblr media
here you can see it next to my Scale Pin which I hapoened to be wearing at work today.
you can see the murcury run in the video (I think I ramble on about how cool quicksilver is in the video fyi)
all in all, not half as bad as it could have been: still sealed in glass and its protective tube id quite sturdy. I ended up writing "Caution Murcury" on the tube and leaving it at that. Its also noted in the inventory so whoever takes over from me will have a little warning at least.
I was in a massive grump today - still am a bit - but I have another interview lined up, had a pretty good one last week, and still have to hear back from 2/3 maters programs I applied to.
Grinning and baring Camel Town will have to do for the next little while.

I know I’m probably really late to this but if that ask game is still happening I’d like to ask desire for Caraval.
AUGH ITS BEEN LIKE 4 MONTHS SINCE I REBLOGGED THAT MEME but yeah sure I'm always down to talk about characters!
desire: What's one thing your OC wants more than anything in the world? Are they open with that desire? Why or why not? What would they do to fulfill it?
The one thing that Caraval desires more than anything else is connection. Family. People he knows he can trust to have his back in a tight spot, and people who, in turn, he can help pull out of their own tight spots. He wants to be part of something, not necessarily something big, or grand, or world changing, but something close and purposeful. He wants community.
Unfortunately, this has been denied to him multiple times, from the family he was born into dying to illness while he was away, despite the money and medicine he sent home to them, to his reputation with the family he made in his squad being destroyed after it was discovered he was using his status as a surgeon to smuggle drugs. Follow that up with a long period of only being able to find work with the more unsavorable crowds who don't care so much about morality, and he's gotten a bit bitter and cynical. He knows family is what he wants. He just doesn't expect to really be able to get it anymore.
As for what he's willing to do for that family, should he have it, well. It's no coincidence he was discovered smuggling drugs just around the same time of his family's illness.

Emergency: Help save my children's lives
Dear humanity,
Tumblr media
I am Habib from Gaza. I am married and have four children: Menna, 12 years old, Adam, 10 years old (suffering from quadriplegia), Maria, 6 years old, and Ezz, one year old. Although they are young, they have survived previous wars, but this current war is the most difficult of all. This is a war of genocide, and the difficulty of the war lies in the inability to meet the needs of my son Adam, who needs special care.
Tumblr media
Over the past ten months, we have been caught in the crossfire of the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Our once peaceful home in Khan Yunis has been reduced to rubble, and now we find ourselves displaced in Deir al-Balah, living in squalid conditions in a makeshift tent on the streets. The devastation not only deprived us of our physical shelter, but also destroyed my livelihood - the once thriving business that supported our family's well-being, is now in ruins. The daily struggle for survival is exacerbated by the scarcity of basic necessities such as clean water, adequate sanitation and basic medical supplies
Our home was the place where we found hope and safety, and where we made precious memories. Losing him was like losing years of our lives.
Tumblr media
Not only that, they destroyed my source of livelihood, burned it, and demolished it with bulldozers, and today I am without a home and without a job. I was working in a store I owned that met the needs and expenses of my family
Tumblr media
Living in tents is miserable. There is a lack of drinking water, hot sun rays, and strange insects that have terrified my children. What hurts me most is my young son Ezz, who I see growing up in an unclean environment and with no healthy food for him. I believe he has not received his right to life.
Tumblr media
At this stage, my husband and I decided to go to you and create an account on the Go Fund Me website and ask you to help us in these difficult times until we get out of Gaza, from the land of war to the land of peace. All we need from you is to support us and help us to get out of the war, even if you cannot help. You should spread the word. This campaign is everywhere and among your friends. We thank you for your stance and support for us. Thank you, my friends
The amount that will be collected from this campaign :
We will spend it by paying the amount to coordinate entry through the Rafah land crossing, which connects Gaza to the State of Egypt, since, as I mentioned, they charge an adult $5,000, but depending on the pressures, crises, and waiting, the amount may reach $7,000 per person, and children $2,500 to $4,000.
We will also use it for the rest of the travel and safe transportation expenses to provide for all family members.
Tumblr media
A picture of my children's life before the war
A video of my children's lives living the war
May God reward you with all the best and may God bless you
Best wishes with sincere gratitude,
Habib's family

parents most of the way through this little cardboard keg thing of red wine, like it's a box with a tap connected to an inner bladder
anyway, for whatever reason they have removed the plastic bag from its shell, and I swear to god I wandered into the living room and thought they'd left a blood bag sitting out
note that my first instinct was not to question the presence of a blood bag in our house, but instead to be beleaguered at them leaving medical supplies out in the open when they should clearly be refrigerated.
I think maybe my brain is on its last legs rn...

a list of vetted fundraisers sent to me recently. i apologize for not sharing them earlier, i haven't had access to my askbox, but here they are now. Thank you for sending your campaigns to me and i will do my best to donate what i can to each. please share and donate, even just a little!
Help Ahmed, Abedelrahman, and family Escape war from @ahmedalnabeeh11 - they are 2/3 of the way there but still need to raise $10,000!
Donate to Ahmed's Journey to Safety and Education organized by @ahmadresh. this is @mohiy-gaza's brother! He still needs $7,000.
Help me and my family escape the war in Gaza from @asmaayyad. Asma reached out a few weeks ago but the campaign for her family is still very low and there are a lot of people depending on it!!
Help Musab and his family,my pets survive this war in Gaza from @musababd. Musab's previous account and campaign were mistakenly flagged as fraud and he had to start over, but it is indeed a verified campaign.
Help us for the sake of God from @abdelmutei. another big family who has to raise a LOT of money. please help them!!
Help us and my elderly parents to get out of the war from @nedaapalestine. Nedaa's parents need medications they cannot access in Gaza.
Help Nour and his family escape from the war in Gaza from @noorabd1992. this is a relatively new campaign and needs a lot of support, please donate what you can!
Hope for Gaza: Support Ashraf's Family Rebuild Their Lives from @ashraf-family2. Ashraf has reached out to me before and is so close to reaching the campaign goal, but they still need about $4,000 more!
Get my relatives out of Gaza from @ghaziyounes1967. Despite being several months old, this fundraiser is stuck at $2,000 because of high cost of food and supplies in Gaza, as with each of the families and individuals above.
Please support Palestinians in whatever way you can--even just donating to one or two campaigns will lessen the load for everyone! If you cannot donate, share and reblog, i specifically linked people's accounts in this post so you can reblog their fundraiser posts individually. Free Palestine

Liberals wincing at the brutality of Hamas’ attack is even more smoothbrain when you consider that the Gaza Strip is objectively the worst concentration camp in the world.
It’s the 2nd most densely populated area in the entire world, 95% of water isn’t safe, they are only given 4 hours of electricity (imagine this with the population density and Mediterranean heat), medicine and basic foodstuffs like juice are embargoed. The average age in Gaza is 19 - the old and weak die quickly as their health care system cannot get supplies and doesn’t have stable electricity. More than half of youths under 18 expressed that they have no real desire to live and contemplate suicide regularly. 45% unemployment. Children get blown up playing soccer on the beach by advanced warships. It’s probably the most surveilled and spied upon place in the world. It’s a tiny strip of land 25 miles wide that is regularly subjected to bombing.
In 2018 mass peaceful demonstrations were organized, thousands and thousands of Palestinians marched along the border wall. Israel shot 2,000 of them with live ammunition, but only killed around 200 because they deliberately aim at legs to place even more strain on the depleted medical infrastructure and make an invalid that can’t contribute as well. 36,000 Palestinians were injured peacefully protesting.
Every year the IDF invades Al-Asqa mosque, gasses the worshippers and cracks heads open, and then they leave because there’s no point aside from violent harassment. And then there’s the constant news from other occupied areas of Palestinians being evicted, homes being bulldozed, the survivors fined and harassed. Palestinian olive trees, generational in their age, bulldozed by the occupiers.
Shooting civilians wantonly might be morally dubious in a situation like Hawaii, some place where an occupation makes you disadvantaged and a second class citizen. But Gaza is just flat out a death camp. Of course the commandos went berserk with rage, of course they brought bodies back to parade in the streets - everyone has been dehumanized for their entire lives. Treat people like animals and they might just act like animals once they get their hands on you.

Save four families in Gaza now!
[plain text: Save four families in Gaza now! end plain text.]
I've already made two posts about these families so far linking to their GoFundMe's, but despite the traction, that didn't equal much sizeable progress.
The families in question are:
Momen Al Ostaz's family: a family of 10 people in the Gaza Strip, trapped without food, water, or proper supplies and most of them require some form of medical intervention due to stress or diseases like Hep C caused by poor conditions. His campaign is at €16,634 out of its €70,000 goal. (#125 on the vetted spreadsheet) [Link]
Abdullah Ameen's family: Abdullah is a man living currently in the Nuseirat camp with his family of four - him, his wife, his son, and newborn daughter. He has later amended his campaign to evacuate his sisters and his mother from Gaza as well. His campaign was created back in late April, but has still not reached its goal of €35,000, only having raised €5,223. (#134) [Link]
Doaa's family: Doaa is a Gazan woman whose family is currently trapped in Khan Yunis. Her campaign is attempting to raise enough money to evacuate her sisters and their families into Egypt creating a total of THIRTEEN family members that need to get through the border. The campaign is way below its goal, having only raised $3,361 of 65,000. (Shared by 90-ghost) [Link]
Mahmoud Nedal's family: A family of 6 - him, his older brother, his parents, his 6-year-old sister, and 2-year-old brother. The campaign's raised only $3,279 of its 50,000 goal. (#123) [Link]
These campaigns are all extremely urgent! These people are trapped in inhospitable conditions without proper access to the essentials to life! Can you imagine having to put you and your family's lives into the hands of strangers who have only ignored you?
The GoFundMe's listed here have not garnered any traction whatsoever, and donations have been quite stagnant. I intend to not let this happen by whatever means I have.
Let's raise up to 8,000 for the last three campaigns and raise 4,000 for the first within the next 5 days!
[Plain text: Let's raise up to 8,000 for the last three campaigns and raise 4,000 EUR for the first within the next 5 days! end plain text.]
I understand this goal may not seem manageable, but it absolutely is! This user base has helped raise 10k, 4k, 6k for certain campaigns within a few days, I don't see why this would be any less manageable.
This is a call to action! Do NOT leave these people behind! Donate whatever you can and share, especially if you can NOT donate!
Their kids and their families should not have to live in squalor and deplorable conditions. Do not look away.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jamal Shamia, Iam a criminal lawyer, lam suffering of many diseases hypertension and diabetic mellitus and Muscle spasms and always got shocked and coma
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, I was injured in the war and suffered a very serious injury, which was a blood clot in the hip joint area,
Tumblr media
which caused him many infections and the infection spread in the area. is currently in Gaza, and my home was destroyed at the beginning of the war. We have lost security and peace. We have witnessed how a single rocket can destroy your entire life, both your past and your future. Our dreams have been shattered. Now the future is unknown and dark. There is no home, no basic life essentials, no job. We are now seeking to leave this country for a life abroad and to obtain security. We estimate our loss to be at least $50,000 to rebuild a home and start our lives anew.
My wife, Mufida, is 62 years old. She traveled before the war to have surgery on her eye alone, and now she is stuck on the Egyptian side. She has no breadwinner and needs many medications and medical supplies.
After that, she suffered a broken hand due to the lack of necessary care for her. I want to collect money to go to her and support her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Ahmad Jamal Shamia resides in Gaza and is a third-year student in dental school. He lost his education due to the devastating war in Gaza. He was studying at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, and his home was destroyed in the war. He is currently suffering from moving from one temporary shelter to another. Ahmad was a diligent, ambitious, and creative student who ranked first in his class. He didn't limit himself to what he learned in university. He attended courses and workshops online with Egyptian doctors to learn more and excel in his field. He always sought excellence and worked hard for it, and he loved helping all students.
He now needs money to continue his education, which will cost him a lot of money since he will complete his studies in Egypt.
Tumblr media
My family is living in extreme danger due to the brutal bombing of their city. There are daily explosions and attacks. The city is no longer safe for them. My family has been unable to work for 11 months due to the war, and they are living on minimal food and water while constantly suffering from fear and shock from the attacks around them. Many in the family have medical needs, and their lives are at risk every moment. Prices have risen in Gaza, and they struggle daily to meet their basic needs.
The family is requesting help to cross the border into Egypt so they can begin rebuilding their lives. Time is of the essence! Help us transport them across the border to Egypt so we know they are safe from the increasing and indiscriminate attacks.
I hope we can work together to help my family leave Gaza. Their escape from the difficulties will only be possible through this fundraising campaign. They are counting on us! Thank you for your support. Thank you for coming together

Our Story: A Family's Journey Through War
My name is Mounir, and I am part of a family of seven. We used to live a simple life in Gaza, before the war changed everything.
My father, Raed (47), my mother, Amani (39), my older sisters, Rasha (22), who is married, and Rana (21), who is also married, my brother Mohamed (16), and my little sister Sham (4), we all dreamed of a safe and stable life.
Tumblr media
When the war began, we were forced to leave our home due to heavy shelling nearby.
We took shelter in the shop that was our only source of income— a sanitary supplies shop where my father, brother, and I worked.
We could only stay one night before leaflets were dropped from airplanes ordering a full evacuation of the area. We had no choice but to move to Al-Shifa Medical Complex, where we lived in a tent for a week.
Then, another evacuation order came, and we were told to head south of Gaza.
Tumblr media
With no relatives to take us in, we ended up in an unfinished school building in the central area.
The 90 days we spent there were the hardest of our lives— no water, no food, and nothing fit for human life. We had to walk more than 1.5 kilometers just to buy a small amount of food to keep us alive.
After this long ordeal, another evacuation order came, but before we could leave, the school was bombed.
It was terrifying— we narrowly escaped death, leaving everything behind.
We fled to Rafah, a place that seemed safer at first, but there too, we found no shelter.
We had to live in a tent, in the freezing winter cold.
Tumblr media
We had no way to keep warm, and we nearly froze to death.
My mother, who suffers from chronic asthma, was in a dire situation because we couldn’t find her medications.
She ran out of the medicine that helps her breathe, and she started having painful attacks.
This is one of the many types of medicine that you use, but there is none of it because it has run out
Tumblr media
The smoke from the fire we used for cooking and the terrible smell from the lack of sanitation in the school made her condition worse.
Tumblr media
My little sister Sham is also suffering from skin rashes due to the unsanitary conditions, and she has diarrhea and vomiting because the drinking water is contaminated.
Tumblr media
We are living in inhumane conditions, and we don’t even have the clothes we need to survive the coming winter.🥶(🧥❌)
My brother Mohamed and I carry a heavy burden— we fetch water from faraway places, and we search for food to ease our hunger.
My married sisters and their small children are also in desperate need of baby formula, clothes, and diapers.
Even the food that reaches us in the school from charity kitchens is barely edible due to poor cooking.🤢
This is our life… fear, hunger, cold, and bombing. 💔
We live in constant terror and uncertainty. 😔💔
We desperately need your help and support— any donation can help save our lives and ease our suffering.🥺🙏🏻

🚨Emergency🚨
Help Rana’s family toleave Gaza before it too late
Hello humanities 🤗🤗
Please read this as if I'm a member of your family . maybe your sister, daughter or a friend and as if my family who's under death now is yours.
"I am a computer Engineer and Mom for 3 children from Gaza , Rana Hassan Alabsi, with a strong ambition and perseverance. Over the past 10 years, I've worked tirelessly, I've dedicated myself to my family, working hard, planning, building my career. Despite facing challenges, I became a well-known professional engineer in Gaza.
Tumblr media

Unfortunately, my life has been upside down since Oct ,Since that particular day, thousands of innocent lives have been lost in Gaza, many of innocent people lost their works and the only source of income like me.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Me and my childrens 1 of them, he is10 years old with downsyndrom and need a safer place and health care to still a live, left our home under the continuous bombardment and artillery strikes, on foot, without carrying with us our personal supplies, clothes, or Even our money, heading from Gaza to Deir al-Balah. There in Deir al-Balah we lived the most difficult days of our lives in a shelter with scarce resources, sleeping on the ground.
Without covers, without drinking a healthy water, then we moved to Khan Yunis after the intensification of the strikes and bombing, Then we moved to Rafah in the hope that we would find safety there or find a way out of Gaza to a safe place that we dream of for the future of our children,Let us live a happy, safe life for us and our children, and keep them away from all this pain, destruction, and siege, and spare them from the miserable future that will await them if the situation continues as it is in Gaza.
I come to you with a heavy heart and an urgent call for help. My family are currently caught in the war in Gaza, facing the harsh reality of an escalating crisis. The situation is dire, and I am reaching out for your support to facilitate their safe passage to Egypt. In this moment of desperation, I share the situation where it has taken a toll on their well-being.
This urgent plea is not only for their safety but also for the health of my son, who is facing serious conditions that demand immediate attention.
Tumblr media
My family is trapped in an environment where access to necessary medical care is severely limited. The escalating crisis compounds the urgency, especially considering my son's health conditions. Time is of the essence, and we are in a race against it to get him the vital medication and care he desperately needs.
My loved childrens are in a situation beyond their control. The fear in their eyes and the desperation in their hearts are indescribable. I implore you to be a beacon of hope for them, to be the force that guides them to safety. To be honest, the journey to safety comes with a significant financial burden.
We need the money to cover practical costs of transportation, documentation, a place to stay and shelter in and other essentials required for a safe crossing to Egypt. And so that they can take care of other needs once they cross safely. As of late April the evacuation fee ranges between $8,000 and $10,000 per person, before processing and transport fees, and we will pay the higher end of the range since Hayde doesn't have passport. Me and my family asking for 50,000$ based on the following breakdown: an evacuation fee at the Egyptian border of $8,000 - $10,000 per person , $4500 - $5000 per children as each day there is a different price for evacuation fee at the Egyptian border, plus a processing fee of $2,000 per person, $2,000 for transportation, and a 2.9% commission fee.
Any amount raised beyond the total will be used to supplement me & my family lives as refugees in Egypt. Your donation, no matter how small, will make an impact. You will be contributing to getting my family to safety. The funds will be used transparently and every dollar will go towards securing our evacuation.
Please share this campaign widely to help us reach our goal and bring my family to safety. Your support means more than you can imagine and I am incredibly grateful for any assistance you can provide during this challenging time. Thank you for your compassion and generosity. Together, we can make change and help my family find the safety and security they need".

Hello, my name is Hani Hamid and I am from Gaza. I am writing to you with a heavy heart. I now live in the northern part of Gaza. I was shot in the knee and it caused a catastrophic condition for my leg. I am unable to walk at all. I need urgent and urgent treatment. I have three children, Abdullah, 12 years old, Salma, 10 years old, and Saleh, 7 years old, and my wife Nour, 33 years old. Unfortunately, our house was bombed and destroyed during the initial events, which caused severe psychological and physical damage to me and my family due to the catastrophic situation we are currently living in. My family and I are suffering from a severe shortage of food, supplies and medical supplies, in addition to the high prices that make it difficult to meet our basic needs. We cannot even obtain clean drinking water. The loss of our homeland has exacerbated our suffering, and our daily lives have become a constant struggle for survival. The Urgent Need to Leave Gaza Given the current deteriorating situation, it is imperative for me and my family to leave Gaza as soon as possible once the Rafah border crossing with Egypt opens. I hope it will open soon, and we need to raise the necessary funds quickly to ensure our safe passage. The cost of exiting Gaza through the Rafah crossing is approximately $5,000 per person. Family details and financial requirements Our family consists of 5 members. The total amount needed for safe passage is calculated as follows: - *5 people x $5,000 = $25,000* - And the cost of the operation for my feet needs $10,000 In addition to the travel costs, we need funds to secure temporary housing and basic necessities once we leave Gaza. Therefore, we aim to raise a total of *$70,000* to cover these immediate and urgent needs.

Huda and Her Family's Story: Struggling Under Bombardment and a Call for Help
Huda and her family from Gaza have endured a devastating ordeal since the war began on October 7, 2023. In the midst of this chaos, they have faced unimaginable hardship.
On October 14, their home was bombed, resulting in the tragic loss of three beloved family members: Huda's 17-year-old sister, her 8-year-old nephew, and her 19-year-old cousin. Huda’s father was seriously injured and requires urgent surgery outside Gaza, and other family members were also injured.
This nightmare not only involved the loss of loved ones but also the destruction of their home, supermarket, and car. Following this devastation, they have been displaced to a dangerous area near the sea, lacking essential resources. They live daily under the threat of bombings and artillery, with severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.
Today, Huda and her family urgently need our support to help them leave Gaza and find safety. We are calling on you to participate in a fundraising campaign to provide them with the resources necessary to escape Gaza. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in the lives of this family who has lost everything.
Let us come together to assist Huda and her family in securing the hope and resources they need for safety. Donate today and be a part of this humanitarian story.
