Not in an elitist gatekeeping way more in a i don’t like how new fans sexualize Gerard way. Put away the phones when walking rant

So I was sitting in the car this evening, outside of one of those tool/home improvement stores as Himself dashed in to get something critical. I was people watching, and one again disturbed by kids who were glued to a phone or game. Like you really cannot walk from the parking lot into a store without staring at some video, "insta" or whatever, or playing a game? It's less than two minutes, seriously. Look, I don't care what you're staring at, but you're in a parking lot. With potholes, moving cars, potential robbers and kidnappers. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS. This one little kid--and I'm guessing he was 4-5--kept getting separated from his mom because A) he was staring at some stupid game and B) she was staring at her phone. Anyone could have snatched that little guy and run, they were so far apart, separated by pavement-princess trucks. He didn't know where she was, she hadn't a clue he was 30 feet behind her. Three girls were walking over to the Target, locked into their phones. Walked right out in front of a car, who honked at them. They flipped off the car and ran off--but they could easily have been hit because they just weren't paying a bit of attention to the scene. Some other woman tripped on a pothole because again, she was staring at her phone. I swear aliens could have landed next to any of these people and they wouldn't have noticed. I'm not anti-phone, but I am anti-being oblivious and stupid. PUT YOUR DAMN PHONE AWAY WHILE WALKING THROUGH A PARKING LOT.

I can’t be the only one who misses the time on the Internet, when Tumblr was most popular, Wattpad was filled with “adopted by __” fics, Dan and Phil were everywhere, bandom! When fandom crossovers were common like superwholock, when being a fan girl was both an insult and an identity. Oh! and when the main rules in fandom were “ship and let ship” and “don’t like don’t read”

essentially what I’m saying is, I miss when fandom were worth being in. nowadays fandom is all discourse, stupid discourse, like arguing about if you’re allowed to ship not canon ships, and if it’s okay to like a character even if they’re evil. Fandom has lost its whimsy and it’s fun, fandom isn’t fun anymore.

Now don’t get me wrong I know that fandom were very toxic back in the day, but it’s still very toxic, maybe even more so if I’m being honest. And now people can’t have fun in fandom spaces without worrying about being “cringe” and “embarrassing” it doesn’t matter if it’s cringe as long as you’re having fun!

my hot take for today is that some folks on here have (very legitimate) issues with comics but frustratingly make it fanfic writers / fanart artists’ problem or responsibility to fix…and when those writers and artists don’t do that or don’t do it ‘enough’, people lash out at them.

we really need to stop doing that. not every fic is a fix-it by default. and the sins of the source material don’t rest on the shoulders of those merely playing with it.

doll lost everything yet she still tried, she did everything for the sake of the planet and for herself yet in the end her efforts proved futile, she improved nothing and she died a failure. nobody cared about her when she was alive and they continue to not care now that shes dead, she died afraid and alone when everyone else got their happy ending that she so desperately wanted to be a part of

j also lost everything, she lost the only person she cared about and that cared about her. she doesnt even have a mission anymore, she has no job, she has no purpose anymore. she didnt care about winning and she didnt care about losing, deep down she knew no matter what it wouldnt matter. the absolutesolver didnt care about her and v chose n and uzi over her, shes been revived so many times to do the solvers dirty work she sees no point in fighting whether its for the good or the bad. but now she probably regrets her betrayal because shes all alone, she gets no second chance to be good despite going through just as much hurt as the others

j was also kinda being demonized for siding with her abuser BECAUSE SHE LITERALLY LOST EVERYTHING and it reminds me how victims get demonized in real life for lashing out or making the wrong decisions because theyre afraid

cyn was the first host and had to experience her identity and life slowly leave her as the absolutesolver took over more of her system, she never got to be a person because her life was taken from her the moment she woke up. she was inadvertently the cause for everything the solver did just because she existed
