Tumblr media

WARNINGS. mentions of depression/depressive episodes, mentions of unrequited love, burn out

SYNOPSIS. Thrown asunder beneath crushing assignments, work, and the fleeting hope your “young and free” twenties experience may someday happen, you had yet to realize said experience was right around the corner. Whisked into a mixture of unearthed feelings and past occurrences, presented with a cherry on top by renowned Chef Lee Felix.
or alternatively :
Eventually, the sun will shine again.
Tumblr media
Out of any gift you’ve received, you thought the treehouse in your backyard was the most memorable. It seemed like, in this vast universe, everything was right.
Then it wasn’t, then it was. Again and again. A repetitive cycle.
However, your overcast days did have an expiration date, and sunshine would eventually show itself again.
You just weren’t aware yet.
.
.
.
At seven years old, you would spend hours daydreaming, inviting friends, taking naps, and reading in your treehouse. Oftentimes, during the long days of summer, you’d eat lunch up there; lost in this secluded world only you knew about.
When you’re younger, every little thing appears peach-tinted.
The warm fire of a candle on a nightstand, setting dull objects ablaze with its brightness. Shadow puppets, dance parties. So ordinary yet exceptional all the same. Easy to configure from a developing mind as something excellent, fantastical.
Your twenties don’t envelop a hazy glow. Mind now hardened, treehouse still lingering (more like rotting) in the backyard of your parents house, things are more serious, less inviting.
Who knew adulthood would be this lonesome.
Walking from a bar, you fail to appreciate the hum of music from a buzzed radio, the wafting smell of Italian food hidden somewhere in the midst of neon signs and outdoor eateries.
Instead, priorities had lodged themselves indefinitely far into your soul, drowning out the voice telling you you’re you, not the expectations you’re held to.
Further and further did you drift into that intoxicating headspace, until someone—or, in your case, something—had to pull you out.
That something being a cooking—well, baking class. This weekend, an hour and a half. Menu: The Ideal Donuts.
“Think of it as a release,” Sana had told you, this wide, excited smile etching the skin of her face.
Immediately, you wanted to hand it back to her, tell the eccentric best friend of yours to spend such an occasion on herself instead.
Yet, you knew better than to try negotiating with Sana, the girl who has been present through your ugliest moments, who you’ve cried to more times than able to count.
Your intention wasn’t an attempt to make your life as miserable as possible. In fact, each day you strived for a resource, an indication things would grow better, as better as it seemed to be for everyone else.
Though you can only stretch a rubber band so far, and once it reaches its farthest extent, it snaps.
And the recoil stings.
“Okay, thank you.” You respond after a beat of silence, lips pulled into a tight line, investigating the information written on the card.
She pats your shoulder, a sweet smile worn upon pink lipstick.
Lee’s Baking Class.
Lee. The name sounds familiar.

skz putting their jacket over your lap
a/n: hiii, merry Christmas Eve if you celebrate!! I hope you all stay warm and enjoy your winter <3 also I forgot to put a read more on this one so sorry about that lolol
warnings/genre: gn language but y/n wears skirts, shorts and dresses and stuff, fluff, mentions of food and slight cat calling/harassment in seungmin’s (guys stare at u and whisper shit), discomfort in revealing clothing in hyunjin but that’s a really bad way of explaining it so see for yourself if u want
Tumblr media
chan
-he always keeps his arm around you at public events, so when you were at a dinner party to celebrate the release of his new album he could feel how cold your skin was
-the dress was suggested to you by a stylist since you didn’t really know what to wear, but someone call irene cuz…
-you were constantly pulling down the skirt, and he could feel you shuffling like every five seconds because just breathing made the dress ride up
-“are you okay?? wanna go home?” And you, who’s literally eating the best fucking food you’ve ever tasted and having the time of ur life supporting ur boyfriend obviously shot down his offer
-so he took the coat he came in with because suddenly this takes place in the winter and puts it over your lap, before kissing the top of your head.
“Tell me if you’re uncomfortable, okay? We can leave any time.”
lee know
-lovingly already giving you shit about it before you even leave the house
-“baby, I love you and all and I think you look amazing but those shorts are gonna be uncomfortable as hell”
-“hoes never give up their clothes”
-he didn’t wanna be overbearing so he was like “whatever nerd let’s go”
-you guys were sitting outside and you were already pulling your shorts down, minho only noticing when you entered a grocery store because wtf why r they so cold
-gives you the “I told you so” look and forces u to take his jacket :>
“wrap it around your waist idiot, tell me if you want to go home.”
changbin
-ur probably gonna have to ask him bevause dawg doesn’t realize
-but when you do tell him he’s like !!! “Oh my god I’m so sorry, of course you can have my jacket!!” and he’s holding ur hand all reassuringly and apologizing n ur like “it’s ok I was literally just unbearably cold”
-feels so bad that he didn’t notice how u were literally freezing to death :,)
-bonus is you get to see him roll the sleeves up of his collared shirts + he gets to see you comfortably enjoying yourself so everyone wins
“I’m so sorry again!! Tell me if you need anything else, okay?”
hyunjin
-your supporting your boyfriend at a little formal party, and it was an indoor event at a familiar location that has never been uncomfortable ever in your life
-and then it was uncomfortable, you were just rubbing your legs and the feeling of leather on bare skin was weird and why the hell was it so cold??
-but you looked so hot in this dress ?? so what can someone do. you didn’t mind dressing up, but being in such a weird environment made you dream of the pajama pants you’d put on when you got home
-hyunjin takes his suit’s blazer off and casually slides it over to you without even blinking an eye, as you look up like ??? dawg I didn’t even say anything and he’s just like “I know~~”
-he just knows you very well and he also likes the trope of u wearing his suit jacket after a party, so he insists you keep it because u look so cute
“I can just tell when you’re uncomfortable! I’m a psychic, hehe >:]”
han
-“eeee i don’t like this dress, I feel weird in it”
-“omg babe no!! u look so good :>”
-“no my legs r just cold”
-feels like a superhero and the coolest boyfriend ever to put his coat over your lap, he’s so proud of himself :,)
-he feels like he’s the protag of some romance drama, n he loves it!! and you’re no longer freezing ur ass off so thank goodness
-pretends to forget his coat so he can see you wear it on the way home or something like that
“hehehe, you look cute! do you need anything else? aren’t I just the best?”
felix
-idk he’d probably forget a jacket too so you’d both be awkwardly freezing at a restaurant so we’re gonna put you in an award ceremony
-you were his +1! so you dressed up extra nice for the evening, and you sat next to him as winners came up with their thank you speeches
-I think he’s very attentive to you if you guys go out together cuz he wants you to enjoy every moment with him!!
-so he notices v quickly when you use the table cloth as a blanket for your lap or shake your legs, and he hurriedly gives you his suit jacket so you don’t feel so uncomfortable
-kisses your cheek after, and when cameras catch this cute asf moment you two go trending on twt for 24 hours :,) you guys are just so cute together!!
“Does it feel better than the table cloth? I thought so, I can ask staff for something more accommodating, just let me know <3”
seungmin
-you guys are taking the train home after a day out, and you’re just scrolling on your phone before he leans over
-“the guys across from us are looking at you, do you wanna move?”
-you decide to just stay as the only free seats were reserved for others who needed it more, so you just say like 180 degrees away from them
-you could hear them whispering, and you subconsciously pulled your shorts down, not even knowing if that’s what the problem was
-you tried to ignore the gawking before you saw a grey hoodie fly over your lap, seungmin gently holding your waist to turn you back forward and giving the guys across from you the most uncomfortable eye contact until they stop
“Weirdos. Don’t feel insecure or anything by them, probably just never seen someone as hot as you before…”
jeongin
-trips over his two feet to get to you
-you guys planned for lunch at a cafe, and while you were waiting for him you texted “omg this skirt is so uncomfortable lolol” and next thing you know someone’s sprinting at you full force while holding their jacket
-it’s your loving boyfriend who broke into a sprint the second he read your text
-“h-here, put this over your lap if you want” “how far did you run??” “bro just take it I beg”
-you can’t help but laugh because he’s so out of breath and didn’t even mind the eyes staring at him because he was just running in a panicked frenzy
-boyfriend mode: activated
“I’m not a simp, shut up. Just want you to feel comfortable you loser. (lovingly)

coming to meet your parents - obey me! hcs
trying to be a little more consistent with posts, so here's a couple thoughts that came to mind when discussing families with a friend! {also, don't mind any format changes, trying new things!}
prompt: you've got a visit with your parents coming up, but you're not sure who'd be a good choose to bring.. genre: general, you/your pronouns, gn!mc pairings: bros + dateables (minus luke)
You were visiting home soon, very soon actually, and your family wanted to meet these new brothers. After you said that you met them on an exchange program, they were all very sweet towards you.. And who knows what else you spurted out when rambling on and on about them. Your parents always gave you weird looks when you talked about how good they were, and you never realized when you talked about it until they cut in, “Are you sure they’re everything you say they are?”
With a pounding headache creeping up at the thought of all seven of them coming up with you and causing chaos in your parents home, you snapped your pencil lead and cursed under your breath before looking through your bag for your sharpener, only for a familiar hand to appear beside you with one in his palm.
“How’s my favorite student doing?”
“Oh, haha,” You dryly responded, your nose scrunching up at Solomon as you took his sharpener, “You only said that because I snapped my pencil, huh?”
“You were also staring rather intensely at your paper beforehand.” You let out a sigh and began explaining your situation to him, his face beamed and you couldn’t help but worry at the look of pure joy on his face as the two of you approached..
Lucifer
He didn’t like the idea when it came from Solomon
But then he saw your pleading eyes,, He can’t say no to you,,
When going up, he goes by Lucien around family
He doesn’t need to act any different really, but he doesn't exactly go with the flow, so..
But for the most part, you’re fine sending yourself up with Lucifer!
Don’t stumble over his name though, he might correct you incorrectly
Your parents will most likely enjoy your time with him
Well spoken, good manners, and looks put together when he first steps in the house
I mean, have you seen his outfit in the human world? C’mon..
Bring him along for some tea, lunch, really anything involving food and drink and a quick chat, he shouldn’t be a problem
Just be sure somebody will be able to check on his brothers while you’re gone
Mammon
He doesn’t like being called Mason
But if it’s you, he might give it a chance..
Don’t go out somewhere, he’ll somehow end up blowing his money and setting a bad first impression
Leave any money at home, seriously..
Away from gambling, he’s a great time!
Good humor, really chipper and generally a good man
Just don't let ANY bets get on the table no matter what, please..
Keep your time busy with eating and chatting
Follow it up by some board games or card games if you’re up for it
You could be up late at night, fucking around, and your parents would get a nice impression
As long as you keep bribes and bets out of the photo, you’re fine
Leviathan
Unlike everyone else, he didn’t need to go by anyone else, so slipping up wasn’t a worry!
But getting him to even come with you?.. Good luck
He’ll be practically begging you to think it over, invite someone else
Literally anything to get out of it.. He loves you, but not other normies
He’ll be beyond nervous meeting your parents
You don’t have much to worry about unless somebody brings up anime or TSL
Really quiet, nervous shuffles while you eat
Find a way to include games into the bonding, one that he could pick up as easily as any other game
Although he might get a little ramble-y in his explanations, it shows he’s very passionate!
Your parents most likely will find him sweet, a bit on the quiet side though
And, praise him afterwards.. That was a lot for his shut-in otaku self..
Satan
If you call him ‘Sully,’ even for a joke, he’s gonna lose it. So, Samuel it is! (please..)
He’s well spoken and usually doesn’t cause problems, unless he’s pissed, so really do anything
Best bet would most likely be a café, cat themed, maybe with books and actual cats
He’ll be in absolute BLISS
But save it for the end, especially if your parents like cats too, just to end it off on a high note
Will be fine with giving book recommendations to your parents
He can do most other things though, that’s just your best bet
Parents want to have a chat over some coffee? Sure, about what?
A dinner? Fine by him, he’ll try anything
As long as they don’t get under his skin too much, he won’t have a problem
And your parents didn’t have a problem either, they find him knowledgeable and friendly
And if they saw him with cats, they believe he’s more gentle when alone with you, so they're happy
Asmodeus
He finds his human name of Atlas to be very alluring
So he doesn’t mind, but you need to make it up to him
Fuck, good luck with him though..
He’s really bad at holding his tongue about you and anyone who’s attractive to him
Not to mention he’s an influencer, so he may care about photos before touching any food
And you can’t really take away an influencer’s phone..
But, if your mom enjoys makeup and nails, they’ll get along fine
And if you’re dad’s open minded, they’ll get along fine
It all depends on what your parents are like, really
For the most part it can go super well, or super bad!
Not saying to not to pick him, just,, know it’s a dice roll
Beelzebub
He didn’t understand the whole human name thing,,
Beel isn’t a bad name is it? Regardless he’ll go along with the Bryan thing
There’s no way your parents can hate this gentle giant
I imagine he looks terrifying but then he starts talking and you can’t feel anything but safe
Just be careful on the food wait and how much he eats, or he might get bad looks from your parents
But for the most part he’s a safe choice!
Big ol’ sweetheart, you can’t go wrong if you’re careful
If you’re ever nervous about how he might react to waiting, bring a few snacks
Just explain he’s a sports guy and maybe they’ll look past the absolute speed at which he eats
Overall, your parents will probably feel good about Beel
Just,, warn them if he’s coming, so they can cook some extras or cancel the outing plans,, please.
Belphegor
He was half asleep when you explained meeting your parents and the whole him being called Beau for the day..
He shrugged, “Okay.” Slept again.
When he realized how soon it was coming up..
He didn’t get enough sleep for him to stay awake really
Best to go to some sort of observatory with stars so he can point out anything he knows, either directly or indirectly to your parents
He is practically falling asleep on you though, so good luck
When he is asleep, just explain he’s been working hard and must’ve exhausted himself
Parents will be concerned, but understanding (hopefully)
When he is awake though, let him enjoy the stars and the silence
You may need a few more visits for your parents to form a proper opinion, though..
Diavolo
A chance to go to the human world and avoid his work!?
Sign him UP!.. Oh, a new name? Damien? Okay!
He’s gonna accidentally introduce himself of Diavolo, no matter what
Your parents are,, confused to say the least
I mean, you’re with a man who owns a HOTEL? Definitely hit high, kiddo..
Good news, you don’t have to worry about stumbling over things!
Bad news, Diavolo wants to experience so many new things in the human world that it may slip he wishes he had it back home
Even simple things, like certain fair foods,, like hot dogs.
It confuses your parents beyond belief but you can play it off that he was sheltered (I mean, he was..)
Overall, they have a fun time! Taking him to an amusement park was a great idea
They saw a great man who was willing to experience new things, aside from thrill rides..
Bring the man back, he really wants to experience that again :(
Barbatos
His duties should take priority, but Diavolo gave him permission to go for the day
With a cleared schedule and a carefully picked out outfit,, fuck does he make a good impression
But, he’s stiff and really wants to help out, especially with things like teas
To a point your parents are furrowing their brows at you
And you aren’t about to force Barbatos to not be a butler, it’s in his nature by now
Once he does sit, he doesn’t answer much about him
But he always smiles when he responses, is quick to refill drinks and checks on you often if you seemed stressed or tired
It’s a great impression, showing he deeply cares for you
And that he comes off as hardworking or at least caring for others
So, you really can’t lose unless your parents have problems with not knowing everything at once
Just,, know if you fall asleep at all, he may lightly tease you with your parents
Simeon
Seriously, how can you fail with bringing him?
When he found out from Solomon you needed a plus-one, he offers to join you if nobody else can
Accept on the spot or later, he’ll manage to bring something for your parents
Usually some food, like his sandwiches, or something Luke made with proper praise of the boy
Your parents do accidentally assume that Luke’s your son though..
Consider dismissing that before Simeon starts joking at having kids
Aside from the first-first impression, he’s overall very sweet
He can talk about anything for a good amount of time, and always has honeyed words about you
If your parents manage to bring up TSL, slip in that he wrote it
It’s good praise, albeit a bit embarrassing for Simeon
But if your parents enjoy the series, meeting the author would be nice!
They feel blessed to have him in your life,,
(Regardless if they know he’s an author or not)
Solomon
Yeah, this was his idea, but after all the trial and error..
You invited him instead of the demons, for your own sanity
His title carries some weight, so there’s no doubt he’s known by your parents
But you assure them he’s not as bad as the rumors say
Get used to him intentionally trying to embarrass your ass, because he will do it ALL the time
If you’ve told your parents about your training, he’ll non-stop praise you and your skills
If not, he’ll praise your general learning skill and how you’re a great listener
In any sense, you’ll be very embarrassed by the end
Your parents will give you many smiles and laughs about it too
He does say some stuff weird, and dances around personal questions, but that's about it
He’s not a bad choice at all, just a little odd for a human
Your parents will get a good impression of him and (hopefully) change their views about him

*ੈ✩‧₊˚ anon request: Hello hello! Well I really like your writing and I saw the status open so here I go, I would like a reader as Rui's younger brother and the reader is dating Akito S.? Maybe their encounters where Akito goes to the reader's house and finds Rui in the kitchen, or the couple spending time at school and Rui peeking in, I don't know, they're just vague thoughts. Thank you (Regarding the personality of the reader, perhaps asocial/introverted but when he is in confidence he makes it known why he is Rui's brother? Well, that topic is how you want to do it)
*ੈ✩‧₊˚ Hi!! Omg I love it!! And I kinda used your ideas because they were simply too good not to use!
It turned out kindaaa long I guess? But I honestly like it so I dearly hope you will too!

You looked around the school for Akito during lunch break when you finally found him sitting behind the school.
"Hey Akito!"
He looked up from his phone and stopped munching as soon as he heard familiar voice. Noticing you, small smile spread across his face and he moved aside a bit to make some space for you on bench.
"Yo! Come sit down. Guess what I got today."
"Oh!! Are those my favorites?! Awh did you cooked it all for me~?"
"You're overthinking it. Just give it a taste."
He picked up your favorite food with chopsticks and put it closer to your mouth, hoping you could give him some honest opinion about it. He did baked it tor you after all... not like he's ever gonna admit it tho!
You on the other hand didn't hesitate for a second and opened your mouth, letting the food end on your tongue as you carefully munched it. You didn't wanted to say just "it's good" but you really couldn't fine anything to complain about! It's like he put his heart into making it perfect.
"It's good! Mind if I have another one~?"
"Not at all. I cooked a bit too much so I'd appreciate your help..."
Another piece ended in your mouth. You and Akito really just shared private moment right now, not expecting anyone to interrupt since it's a bit of w secret spot at school.
"Fufu~ Isn't that adorable~?"
Both of you heard familiar voice and immidietly turned your heads towards it. Then only difference was that you had a smile when you saw Rui and Akito looked as if he just saw a ghost.
"Hey Rui! What are you doing here?"
"You've mistaken our bags and put your lunch in my bag. I couldn't let me lil bro starve now, could I?"
You gratefully took the lunch box from your brothers hands, happy at the thought you might share your lunch with your boyfriend as well, as little thanks for cooking something so delicious for you!
"Thanks a lot Rui-!"
"LIL BRO?!"
But your sentence was interrupted by shocked Akito. He should've known! He should've recognized that :3 smilez blue strands and mischievous personality!! How are you so similar and yet so different?! He wouldn't want to suddenly befriebr Rui but he doesn't wish to break with you either...
"That's correct. I guess we never really met each others properly... Well just know that you have my gill support of your relationship! I heard lot's of goods from lil one!"
"Lil o- you have the weirdest nicknames... but thanks..."
"Fufu~ I'll leave you to your little romance moment now. Have fun!"
As fast as he appeared, he disappeared. But it seemed to only bother ginger guy... you just sat down and opened your lunch box as if it was nothing. You even offered him first piece of your lunch before eating.
"Say ah~"
"No thanks."
But he declined and out all of your favorite food from his lunch onto yours, only confirming this specific part was made for you. You sat there a little confused but after noticing his blushing face, you quickly realized what he was trying to avoid and what he was thinking on.
"Is someone shy~?"
"Oh shut it!! I just now see how similar you are..."
"You'd date my brother?"
"Never. You're simply something else... don't overthink it."
"No need to. I already got you figured out~"
You munched on your food, leaving Aktio blushing like crazy as he tried to hide it by turning his face away and focusing one eating his food.
So much happened on a single lunch break... he may end up having trauma for this place... but then again, it is your usual spot to hangout at and he can't really bring himself to stop doing that.

wip wednesday
i was tagged by @hythlodaes and @myreia, thank you frens :> and i'll tag (no pressure) @scionshtola @lavampira @gefiltefished @hylfystt @impossible-rat-babies aaaand @magebastard because 👀 i'm working through the modern au's thanksgiving episode and this part is obliterating me (sorry if you've already read this 🧍‍♂️)
How long has she been staring at the ceiling? Fifteen minutes? Four hours?
Io doesn’t want to look at the time—it’s hard to tell here anyway, without the familiar sounds of her campus or the city moving around her; there’s only the rustling of an animal or two outside as they prepare for winter, the occasional snap of a branch. Moonlight falls through the blinds, landing across the bed in thin silver arcs, and not even those hint at a turning sky. For all she knows, time has stopped, the world and all its ceaseless motion has paused, and she can live in this Wednesday forever. The evening can stretch on indefinitely, never reaching midnight.
Tomorrow doesn’t have to exist.
She’s had enough Thanksgivings for a lifetime anyway.
Maybe she was wrong to travel so far away from her home. Away from them. But what does it matter when both things are out of her reach, regardless of the geography?
All she has left are memories of ghosts, in a house that belongs to someone else now. She hopes the family living there will make the same kinds of memories. It feels like a stupid wish to make while she’s feeling sorry for herself, and a laugh that barely sounds like hers breaks the silence. That’s when she realizes she’s crying, and the laughter is mutilated by a choked sob as she curls in on herself.
The doorknob turns clumsily. Shit, shit, shit… She wipes her eyes and nose on her sleeves.
The hinges whine and Estinien, little more than a dark shape, steps into the room. His voice is thick from sleep as he asks, “Io? Are you okay?”
“Yeah.” It’s a hurried whisper. “I’m fine.”
“You don’t sound fine.”
The weight of his stare settles on her in the dark. As the seconds pass, it becomes clear that this is a standoff: her avoidance versus his stubbornness.
She sighs, unsure if she wants him to stay or go, but needing something to change.
“What do you want me to say?” she asks, and every word fractures on the way out as her voice refuses to remain even. So fucking embarrassing.
“Hey, come here.” But he is the one who moves. The single bed shifts as he climbs in, sliding an arm under her shoulders and pulling her to him. Without thinking, Io clings to him. The tears come faster, her shoulders shake, but she is quieter now.
After some time, Estinien asks, “Do you want to talk about it?”
“Maybe in a minute.”
“I’ll be here.” Soft as it is, his voice does not waver. Io has never believed anything more than she believes this simple promise.
“Will you talk to me?” she sniffles against his shoulder. “I'm sorry. Not your favorite activity, I know.”
“Yeah, I can talk to you,” he says. They shuffle a little, getting more comfortable in the bed that’s too small for the both of them. It’s a tight squeeze, but the warmth and pressure of being tucked against Estinien’s side is grounding. He strokes her hair. When he speaks, his whisper is slow and soothing, and if this is how Wednesday ends and Thursday begins, maybe she can tolerate it.
“I was thirteen during my first Thanksgiving with Alberic... It was a fucking mess. He went all out for it; bought a huge turkey, things to make all the sides, and he wanted to make pumpkin pie too. It was more food than we could eat, and he was determined to make everything from scratch—the ultimate pity meal, right? He asked if I wanted to help, but I couldn’t see that he was trying to keep me busy. I was miserable, so I just stayed in here, crying all day. Wondering why I had to be here, in this house that wasn’t mine, with a man I didn’t know and didn’t want to know, instead of being… wherever they were…” He trails off. That thought needs no explanation; it’s where Io was last year, trying so hard not to let it show as she grasped for some degree of normalcy.
“Yeah,” she admits. His fingers find her scalp, scratching gently.
“Alberic spent so much time outside my room that day, just sitting on the other side of the door, that everything was burnt by the time he convinced me to come out. When I did, I could see he’d been crying too. I felt so shitty for putting him through it that I sat down at the table full of ruined food—which he fully arranged, by the way, the sentimental fuck—and I just started eating. It was awful, but Alberic ate too. It was just us, trying not to cry over all this charred food. And when we finished, he brought out this perfect pie—the only thing he managed to get right—and it was the best pie I’ve ever had. I don’t know. I think about that a lot, you know? When everything feels shitty, I try to find the one good thing at the end of it. It’s always there, if you wait for it.”
Io steels herself with a long inhale. “I miss them, so much.”
“I know,” Estinien says. “Me too. That’s just how it’ll be for us.”
She doesn’t mistake his straightforward words for nonchalance. This is the whole of it, the reason he invited her. This is him linking his pain to hers, telling her it will still be there in ten years, reminding her that either of them carrying it alone is not an option. He will lift on one side if she lifts the other, and together they will move forward. Her grief will be as stubbornly reliable as the man at her side. She wants to believe the context of both will change with time. His grief seems to have changed, so maybe there’s hope for hers.
“I’m glad I’m here with you, though. And Alberic. Even if this trip was an elaborate setup to keep me busy.”
Estinien laughs quietly but doesn’t deny it. They settle into the silence, their bodies relaxing a little. Io’s breathing has steadied in his arms. Lines of light spill over part of his face, highlighting the slope of his nose, and accentuating the length of his lashes against his cheek while his eyes are closed. They’ve never been this close. If she turned her head, she could almost—
His phone buzzes in his pocket.
“Okay, who have you been texting all week? Just tell me.” She hopes that sounds less annoyed than she is.
More silence. His hand stills in her hair. From behind his lashes, his eye slides over to her and then to the ceiling. “...just a guy. Vic. In one of my classes.”
Well.
Fuck.
A different weight sits on her chest now, but she can recover from this one. “He’s making you laugh. I like him already.”
“We don’t have to talk about it.” He uses the hand that’s not occupied with touching her to cover his face. Io lifts herself on her elbow a bit to tease him, but also to allow him to move, if he wants to. He doesn’t budge.
“Do you think he calls his nudes ‘Vic pics’ instead of—?”
“Io—” But Estinien laughs anyway, too loudly and sincerely for her to feel anything besides bittersweet happiness for him. It’s not time.
“I’m sorry,” she whispers, giggling too. “But hey, if you send any, remember to crop out your face.”
“I hate this,” he groans, slinging his forearm across his face. But in an isolated streak of moonlight, she can see the corner of his lips still turned up.
“But not me?”
“Never you.”
“You neither.”
Time moves again, and she measures it by the changing pattern of light falling across his face. His eyes close again, and his breathing slows to a peaceful rhythm. Estinien falls asleep with his arm still wrapped around her shoulder. Io also closes her eyes, and doesn't wonder which side of midnight this moment belongs to.

I'm almost certain that MC would introduce the brothers to human world holidays and they would try their best to emulate it with what they have. That being said, have a mini fic!!
!! Fluff, wholesome, thanksgiving themes, shit postish, gender neutral MC !!
Also, I'm basing the food and traditions off of my personal experience so sorry if you don't see your faves mentioned in the foods
MC had been hanging out with Asmodeus and Mammon in the common room gossiping about both human world and Devildom social media. The three were scrolling and laughing when a certain human world post caught MC's eye.
"Oh! I didn't realize today was Thanksgiving. Damn, it's really almost December." They sighed. Their tone was no longer as happy as it was before and their expression had switched to a slightly somber one.
"What's wrong, honey?" Asmo asked causing Mam to pay more attention too.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to kill the mood." MC smiled slightly only for Mammon to roll his eyes.
"No. Stop that. What's going on with ya? What happened, MC? Do I need to get Beel to fight someone?" Mammon asked getting closer to comfort them.
"I just realized that today is Thanksgiving. In the human world, it's a holiday where you're supposed to remember the native people killed by European settlers in order to take their land by having a huge feast and sharing what you're grateful for with your friends and family. My family would make a lot of different foods, desserts, drinks, and watch movies all afternoon until night and then we'd all go home and sleep of we were at someone else's house. We always made so much that we would be eating the same thing for at least a week!" MC smiled nostalgically. They sighed in contentment before shaking their head and looking back up at the two demons with them.
"Oh, honey that sounds like a... wonderful little tradition! I'm sorry we don't have anything like that here." Asmo said gently and placed a hand on MC's leg.
"Hey, how about I try to make ya feel better, huh?" Mammon asked excitedly.
"How?"
"We'll all go out! Even if we just walk around and window shop, all of us will go out on the town!" Mammon suggested. MC thought about it for a moment, then nodded their head and smiled gently.
"Alright. I'll ask the others if they want to go with us." MC said and stood up to go talk to the others.
"Don't worry about it, MC. Asmo and I will take care of that. I'll even let you wear my lucky ring today, okay?" Mammon said and helped MC up off of the couch. He kissed their forehead and shooed them off to get ready.
"Okay. Thanks Mam. Asmo, can I use your tub, please?"
"Help yourself to anything you need, gorgeous!" Asmo smiled and watched MC walk out of the room. "Mammon what are you planning?" He asked more seriously.
"We're gonna throw them a Devildom style thanksgiving! C'mon! They'll love it and it'll make em happy! It only makes sense, right?"
"Wow, Mammon, that was actually a good idea. You tell the twins and Satan and I'll tell Luci and Levi." Asmo smiled and pat his older brother on the shoulder as if to say, 'good job'.
A few hours later, all eight residents were out and about. They spent the whole day laughing and joking around with MC to make them feel better. By the early evening, Lucifer, Satan, Levi and Asmo went back to the house while Mam, Beel, Belphie, and MC stayed out a little longer. The four of them walked around a park for a while until Mammon looked down at his D.D.D and quickly spoke up.
"I'm pooped. Let's go back to the house." The white-haired demon suggested.
"Fine with me, I'm hungry and Belphie looks like he can barely hold his eyes open anymore." MC chuckled and peeked over at Belphie who was leaning on Beel and almost asleep.
"I think Lucifer's cooking tonight, so dinner should be ready by the time we get home." Beel said happily and the four of them made their way back to the House of Lamentation.
MC opened the front door and was immediately hit with a cacophony of familiar smells. They looked back toward the three brothers they were with who were smiling at them excitedly. MC immediately walked straight into the dining room and gasped in pure shock and awe.
"Happy thanksgiving, MC!" The crowd yelled in glee. The rest of the brothers, the angels, Solomon, Lord Diavolo, Barbatos, Mephieso, and Thirteen lined the sides of the room. In front of them was a giant spread laid out expertly across the huge dining table. There were dinner rolls, ham, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, fresh collard greens, redxred apple pie, wicked cupcakes, demonus, and so much more across the table.
"You guys! You didn't have to do this for me! It's just one little human world holiday!" MC gushed holding back their tears.
"Well, we heard how sad you sounded, and we wanted to do something nice for you." Solomon said. Being human too, he understood missing little things like a holiday.
"Thank you all so much! I'm so glad that I came to the Devildom. My life has never been more exciting." MC said happily.
"It was Mammon's idea. You should thank him the most." Lucifer piped up. Mammon blushed as every eye in the room turned to him.
"Aww, Mammon! Thank you so much! I love you so much!" MC ran to Mammon and hugged him with everything they had in them. Mammon blushed even more and stuttered out an 'of course' in response.
The rest of the night was spent full of laughing, delicious food, jealous glared thrown and Mammon, and lots and lots of good memories. Solomon even pulled some strings and got MC's favorite alcohol so they could get a bit "silly" just like everyone else.

Life is a Game (and True Love is a Trophy)
Chapter 5
Ch 1 Ch 2 Ch 3 Ch 4 ao3 link
*Eddie - 1986*
As soon as he entered the library, Eddie scanned the room for Chrissy’s familiar strawberry-blonde ponytail. It didn't take long to spot her, and when their eyes met she waved him over to where she sat alone at a table in the back corner.
He took the chair catty-corner to her and set his lunchbox up on the table, unpacking his sandwich right away. He wasn’t surprised to see her sitting there with no food, even though it was lunchtime. He’d noticed she often sat in the cafeteria with nothing in front of her, trying to look like she was too busy talking with her friends to eat. It was worrying, and he wondered if anyone else noticed.
Chrissy smiled, looking at him expectantly as he settled in.
“This might sound weird, but, uh, I've been thinking a lot lately about Steve’s disappearance. Sort of looking into it, actually, and there’s some things that aren't really adding up.” He cringed at himself, already half regretting bringing this up to her at all. “Sorry, I probably sound like a total freak right now”
She shook her head adamantly. “No, Eddie. I think it’s nice. Steve might have been popular, but I don't think he had a lot of true friends, no one who was really there for him. I mean, look at what happened. He’s gone, and it’s like no one cares! His parents never even came home after the school reported him missing, isn’t that awful?”
Eddie blinked rapidly as her words sank in. “Wait, I always assumed his parents were the ones who discovered him missing?”
“No. We’ve been neighbors for years, well, we were neighbors, I guess. As soon as Steve began high school his parents started traveling. They were hardly ever home. It wasn’t until he missed a few days of school that the police got involved.”
“Do you remember noticing anything out of the ordinary in the neighborhood around that time?” Eddie asked.
Chrissy flashed him a weak smile, but quickly dropped her gaze to where her hands rested on the table as she spoke. “I think maybe, yeah. It didn’t seem all that weird at the time, but on Easter Sunday that year, I was sitting on the porch with my mom watching my little sister have an egg hunt in the front yard. I saw Steve come out of his house with a girl. She was young and she had really short hair. I only saw them for a minute, they got right in his car and left. I assumed she was a relative visiting for the holiday or something. Honestly, I was just happy he had someone to keep him company for once. I didn’t realize until the next day that he never came home. I still didn’t think much of it at first, he could have been away for the break or something, but later, when it was announced that he was missing, I knew something was wrong.”
“Did you tell anyone about it?” He had to ask. He could almost understand Nancy being overlooked, but if the police hadn’t interviewed Steve’s neighbors?
“Yea, Hopper came around door-to-door the first day of the search, asking if anyone knew anything. I told him about that day, and the girl. He said he’d follow up, but I don't know if anything ever came of it.”
Eddie recalled Hopper saying things were out of his hands now, that the government was handling it. Had the chief told them Chrissy’s story?
He thought of the photo hidden away in his wallet, but hesitated, wondering if it was safe to show her. She did seem to genuinely want to help, and what harm could it really do.
Eddie glanced around to make sure no one was paying them any attention before pulling the polaroid out and sliding it across the table.
“Is that the girl you saw?”
Chrissy peered down at the picture, eyes growing wide.
“That’s her!” She gasped. “Where did you get this?”
“I think, maybe it's better if I don’t tell you.” Eddie pulled the photo back, quickly tucking it away again. “It wasn’t anything bad, I promise.” He added quickly, not wanting to come off like a creep. “I just don’t want anyone else getting in trouble, so, the less you know the better.”
She reached over and patted him on the hand. “It’s fine, Eddie. I get it.”
“Thanks, and, um, would you mind not telling anyone that I asked you about this?”
She smiled at him warmly. “Your secret is safe with me. I’m just glad someone cares enough to keep looking for him. Steve was a sweetheart deep down, even if he didn’t always show it. “
The bell rang and they both got up. Chrissy could have taken off, but she hovered, waiting for Eddie to gather his things so they could walk out together.
“If you ever want to talk again, I'm here. About this or anything else, ok?”
“Sure thing, Cunningham. I’ll see you around.”
He didn’t know what he’d done to endear himself to the cheerleader, but he was glad for it. Maybe they really could be friends.
-
This was a bad idea, arguably worse than breaking into Steve Harrington's house, but Eddie had spent the whole afternoon thinking over everything he’d learned from Chrissy. It just sounded so odd. Even shitty parents had to show up when their kids disappeared, right? If only for appearances sake, at least. This whole thing about the girl was really gnawing at him too. Hopper was going to be pissed, but at least Eddie was coming right to him with it, and not running wild around town or whatever the fuck everyone was so worried about him doing.
It was weird going into the police station on his own two feet. Eddie always figured his first time inside would involve being hauled in wearing handcuffs, not him walking in voluntarily and politely asking the secretary if he could see the chief.
Hopper was out, apparently, but Eddie wasn’t in a hurry. He didn’t have anywhere to go but home, and this was important. Finally, after about 40 minutes, the man he’d been waiting to see came walking through the door. He frowned down at where Eddie sat and quickly hauled him up by the arm, marching him straight into an office. Hop closed the door and the blinds, which seemed like overkill but Eddie wasn’t gonna call him on it.
“What are you doing here, kid?” Hopper leaned back in his chair, lighting up a cigarette that quickly filled the small room with smoke.
“I know you told me to drop it, but I was talking to Chrissy Cunningham today and…”
Hopper slammed a hand down on the desk. “That’s right. I DID tell you to drop it. So why are you out there interrogating witnesses?!”
“I wasn’t interrogating her. We’re in school together, I bumped into her in the hallway and we got to talking. We’re.. friends.”
The older man almost cracked a smile. “You, Eddie Munson, are friends with Chrissy Cunningham?”
Eddie glared. “Believe me or don’t, chief, I don't care. She told me what she saw. Did you even look for this girl? Try and figure out who she is? Is she missing too?”
Hopper blew out a long plume of smoke, stubbing the cigarette out in the very full ashtray that rested on his desk. “Eddie, you have to let this go. I’m sure you mean well, but you don’t know what you’re doing.”
“I may not know what I’m doing but at least I care enough to try!”
“It’s not that I don’t care, kid, it’s out of my jurisdiction. There are things at play here that you don’t understand.” Hopper sighed, massaging his temples. “Look, I think you need to talk to Wayne about this.”
Eddie wrinkled his nose. “Wayne? What does he have to do with anything?”
“I have a lot of paperwork to catch up on. I’d ask if you need a ride home but I saw your monstrosity of a van out in the parking lot.”
It was a clear dismissal. Eddie wanted to keep arguing but knew it would be a waste of time. He stalked out of the office, slamming the door behind him.
-
Eddie got home just in time to catch Wayne before he left for his shift at the plant. He'd gone back and forth about it for the whole drive home, whether he’d mention his visit to the police station or not. Apparently Hopper had made the decision for him. Eddie’s foot was barely in the door when it started.
“Chief called.” Wayne said gruffly. He was standing in the kitchen by the door as if he’d been waiting on Eddie’s arrival. “I thought you were done with this, Ed?”
“Well I'm not!” Eddie snapped.
It was probably a little harsher than his uncle deserved, but Eddie was well and truly pissed off now. How dare Hopper call and rat him out. He was legally an adult for Christ’s sake!
“Do you know what I found out today?” Eddie seethed. “His fucking parents didn’t even know he was gone, Wayne, and once they found out they apparently didn’t give a shit. No one in this goddamn town seems to give a shit!”
“Ed..” Wayne looked taken aback by his attitude, and honestly, Eddie was a little surprised at himself too. He didn’t realize how upset he’d become about the whole thing. He wasn’t sure when his curiosity had become something so much more.
“What if it was me?” Eddie pushed. “Would you ever stop looking if something happened to me?”
“Of course not.” Wayne quickly replied. “But that’s different, you’re my boy.”
Eddie deflated a little at the reminder that maybe it wasn’t his place to do this. Maybe he was overstepping, but he just couldn’t let it go.
“I have to go, i’ll see you in the morning.” Eddie muttered, turning on his heel and straight out the door he’d just come through.
He speed walked to his van, pretending not to hear his uncle calling after him to stop. He needed to get out of there, take a drive, find somewhere to sit and think or something.
-
Eddie had never been a hike through the woods kinda guy. Though he’d never been to one, he always thought of himself as more of a city person. The anonymity that could be had in a place like that, where the population was so enormous, was intriguing. As well as the prospect of said population being a bit more open-minded than their small town counterparts.
He didn’t really know why he stopped at the pull off. The one closest to the trail that would lead him right to Skull Rock. He blamed Dustin and his stupid list for putting the idea in his head. The walk was longer than he expected, and by the time he reached the base of the rock formation, he had to take a seat and catch his breath.
He supposed it was as good a spot as any to sit and sulk about his day. Being in this place did weirdly make him feel close to the missing boy. Just knowing there was a chance that, in another time, Steve might have sat right where he was sitting now. Realistically, he’d probably had a girl here with him at the time, but Eddie decided to ignore that part of it, instead choosing to picture Steve right there, back up against the rock, smoking a cigarette from the pack in his jacket.
It was quiet out there in the woods. Usually Eddie hated the quiet, he’d much rather blow his eardrums out with a good metal mixtape than commune with the sounds of nature, but something about this moment just felt right. Like he’s exactly where he should be for once.
Eventually, it starts getting dark, and Eddie knows he needs to head out soon, otherwise he might have trouble getting back to the van. He decided to have one more smoke before making his way back through the trees. He lit up and pushed himself to his feet, arching his back to stretch until something made a satisfying pop.
The sound echoed, which was weird. Then it happened again, and Eddie realized it was the sound of branches snapping under foot. His heart raced. He didn't know whether to check it out or run in the opposite direction. He stood there, frozen in indecision, until a figure came bursting through the brush.
*Steve - 1985/1986*
El didn’t hide things from Steve anymore, no matter what Brenner said or threatened. Neither of them wanted to risk being caught unaware again, and so they made a promise to each other. No secrets.
It was Christmas 1985 when Steve figured it out. Honestly he felt a little like an idiot for not realizing it sooner, but that was nothing new for him. Feeling like he’s ten steps behind everyone else was kind of his default setting.
Steve had thought this holiday would pass like all the others during their time in the lab, with barely any acknowledgement from the various doctors, scientists, and staff. But Owens, it seemed, was determined to prove he was a good guy, or at least that he wasn’t as bad as the rest of them. He brought in a small 3ft tall christmas tree, which Brenner begrudgingly allowed to be placed in the rainbow room. It had lights but no ornaments. That was fine, Steve taught El how to make paper chains that they draped around it instead.
Since they had no way to buy gifts, Steve and El drew really bad portraits of each other, giggling as they shared them. All while enjoying one last surprise from the doc, a huge thermos full of hot chocolate.
Steve had been sitting on his realization all day, not wanting to ruin the mood when they were actually having a good time for once, But eventually it started getting late, and he knew they wouldn't have long before being forced back to their rooms.
Without a word, he got up from the table they’d been sitting at and moved over to the chess station. It had become their code for when one of them needed to have a serious conversation. One they needed to be sure wasn’t overheard. He waited for her to join him at the board and slowly moved out his first pawn.
“I think I know what Brenner’s doing, what he’s really had you looking for all this time.” Steve said, smiling brightly, the expression not at all matching the grave tone of his words.
Eleven returned his smile, letting them each make a few more moves before she replied.
“He says we are just exploring this new world, and making sure the creatures stay there. Sometimes he asks me to watch people over here though, the ones who speak differently, like at the mall.”
“The Russians, yea. I think that’s mainly about trying to make sure they don’t get ahead of us with technology, and that they're not trying to open another gate. That’s not what I mean.”
“What do you think it is?”
Steve hesitated, suddenly doubting himself. “It might be dumb, I could be wrong.”
She started to reach out to him, almost breaking character, before dropping her hand back down to her side. “You are smarter than you think, Steve. Please tell me.”
“I think it’s Henry. I think Brenner suspects that One is still alive in there and wants you to find him.”
He watched as the idea sank in, as she ran through her mental catalog of every interaction with the lab, every conversation with Papa. “If he is alive, he won’t be the same. He was bad before but if he has been living with monsters all this time…”
“He’ll be so much worse” Steve finished for her.
“Why would they want me to find him?”
“I don’t know. It seems like asking for trouble to me.” Steve would like to think that they wanted to find the guy in order to eliminate him as a threat, but somehow that didn’t sound like a Brenner move.
“What do we do?”
Steve chewed his lip. “Now that you know what you’re looking for, it should be easy to avoid it, right?”
“Yeah, maybe.”
-
A few months passed without incident, and Steve started to relax. Either their plan was working or his theory was wrong. He was glad for it either way.
He was marking the days off on his calendar when he realized they had missed an important milestone. It had been two years since they were caught and taken back to the lab. The anniversary had passed a little over a week before. His heart sank.
Two.
Years.
Two years, and he was no closer to getting them out of there than he was on day one.
Steve wondered if El realized it and just hadn’t said anything, or if she’d be just as caught off guard as he was. He knew she was with Owens today, so he could go see her right now if he wanted to.
It took twenty minutes for him to find a guard available to take him to the right floor, but at least the guy didn’t hover. He let Steve off the elevator and then went back about his business. It had taken some time after his possession for the lab’s personnel to relax around him again, but finally things were getting back to normal.
Steve was almost to the door of Owens’ office when he heard a gut-wrenching primal scream. He knew without a doubt that it was Eleven. He burst through the door, almost crashing into the doctor’s back.
Owens didn’t even turn around, he was staring up at El, who was floating several feet in the air. Blood ran down her face in streaks, and it wasn’t just coming from her nose this time. Her eyes and ears were also bleeding freely. She had one hand raised up in front of her, the same way she did when she needed to really focus her powers. It looked like she was fighting something only she could see.
Steve shook the doctor's shoulders, shouting. “What’s happening? How do we help her?”
The man finally turned, but before he could say a word, El went limp and dropped like a puppet whose strings had been cut. Steve lunged, only half catching her and just barely managing to cushion her fall.
“I don’t know what happened.” Owens said, dragging a hand over his face. “One minute we were talking and suddenly she just stopped responding. Her eyes…”
Steve got a solid grip on Eleven and stood up, cradling her to his chest.
“I should call Brenner.” The doctor murmured to himself. “Steve, can you take her up to the infirmary? I’ll meet you both there as soon as I can.”
He didn’t wait for a response before pulling a chair up and dialing. Something swung from the pocket of a coat sling over the back of the chair, catching Steve’s attention. It was a key card hanging from a retractable lanyard.
Steve didn’t think twice, he snatched it up while Owen's back was still turned and palmed it before walking out the door. He was met in the hall by the same guard who had brought him up. He let the guy take them down to the infirmary, which was on the same floor as his room, as well as the service elevators that he knew went all the way to the ground floor. He had a key, now all he needed was a distraction.
Luck was on their side twice that day, because the moment they stepped off the elevator, the building’s alarm started to go off. The guard pointed, urging Steve to continue down the hall, then he got back in the elevator to go off and deal with whatever was going wrong now.
Steve knew this was their moment, it was now or never, best chance they were gonna get. He ran to his room, El still cradled in his arms. She roused a little and he was able to coax her to wrap arms and legs around him. It would be much easier to run with her that way. He grabbed the bat he still kept next to his desk, it was the best he could do for a weapon.
He ran the length of the corridor, skidding to stop at the other set of elevators. Steve swiped the key card and to his relief the doors opened instantly.
It felt like ages before they reached the ground floor, but in reality it couldn’t have been more than a minute or two. He tapped his foot impatiently the entire way, praying no one was watching the cameras.
The doors slid open and Steve took a tentative step out. Someone spoke nearby and he froze, it was the last voice he wanted to hear in that moment. He thought they were done for. Brenner was facing away from them, but Owens, who he was standing there speaking with, was looking directly at them.
Owens tensed but allowed the Brenner to continue without interrupting. Steve didn't know what to do. He stood there frozen for a handful of seconds until he noticed the doc subtly gesturing towards the emergency exit door with his head.
Steve nodded dumbly and backed toward it, not taking his eyes off the pair of men until they were around a corner and hidden by the wall.
He carefully pushed the door open with his hip. The alarm was already going off, so he didn't need to worry about that, but the metal arm on the door sounded loud to his ears, in his tense and anxious state.
No sooner were they outside, breathing their first mouthful of fresh air in far too long, than the alarm changed pitch, indicating the building was going into lockdown. He’d gotten them out just in time, with not a minute to spare.
Steve took in their surroundings. The building was flanked by trees, which would provide excellent cover for their escape, but it was also completely enclosed by a tall chain link fence. He wasn’t sure how he’d get them both over it.
He shook Eleven gently as he walked towards the perimeter.
“El honey, I need you to wake up. We have to climb the fence and I don't think I can carry you over it. Please…”
She stirred, blinking her eyes open, and threw a hand out towards the barrier. Steve never got used to seeing El using her powers. He watched, slack-jawed, as an unseen force separated the links in a line that went about 7 feet up.
She sagged back against him and Steve squeezed her tight. He curled himself around her as he pushed through the narrow opening, scratching the hell out of his arms in the process, but thankfully leaving her untouched.
-
Steve ran as fast as he could, for as long as he could. He wasn’t in as good a shape as he used to be, the lab didn’t exactly have a gym facility, and El wasn’t as small as she used to be either. He managed as best he could, ignoring the burn in his lungs and biceps, as well as the sting from the scratches that still trickled blood.
When he couldn’t go another step, and felt like they were far enough away, Steve finally stopped to take a break. He carefully set Eleven down on the ground, leaning her up against a downed tree before plopping down next to her to catch his breath.
Steve rested his head in his hands and tried to think. It would start getting dark soon, but he didn’t know where to go. Home wasn’t an option. The lab knew his full name so it wasn’t a stretch to assume they knew his address too. Besides, he’d been gone for two years now, who knew if that house even was his home anymore.
He gasped in surprise when two small hands wrapped themselves around his wrists, pulling them away from his face. He hadn’t heard her wake up. El was looking him over with concern, appearing much more lucid than she had been before.
“You are hurt.” She said, fingers hovering over the smattering of small wounds on his arms.
“It’s nothing, I'm much more worried about you. What happened back there?”.
“It was Henry, One. He.. found me. I was here, and then I was somewhere else. Like the dark place, except it was different.” Her eyes grew more and more haunted as she spoke. “It was awful, Steve. He does not look like a man anymore, but he is not like the faceless monsters either, and he is so angry. He has been trying to find a way out, but every time he comes close I get in the way. It’s been him, this whole time. The creatures are part of him, he’s seen things. He knew your name.”
Steve gathered her up in a crushing hug, both of them shaking. For the first time he’s afraid that running away might have been a mistake. What if Henry tried for her again? He wouldn’t have the first idea how to help, or how to stop it, but the lab...
No, he couldn’t worry about that right now. He needed to find them some form of shelter to at least get through the night.
There was a rough trail not far from where they were resting, and Steve was pretty sure it would lead them to Skull Rock. It wasn’t a perfect solution but it would provide some cover. He hadn’t come at it from this direction before, but it made sense considering the side of town the lab was in. Steve wasn't exactly a boy scout or anything, but he always had a good sense of direction.
El insisted she could walk. Steve tried to protest but it was half hearted at best. He was utterly exhausted.
Steve smiled when he spotted the top of the rock, but slowed his steps as they got closer and he caught a whiff of cigarette smoke. Shit. He hadn’t expected anyone to be out here. He tip-toed closer, trying to make as little noise as possible, but was sure he stepped on a twig or two anyway. He heard the jangle of chains and his heart shot into his throat. Steve could only think of one person in Hawkins who wore chains. It couldn’t be.
He peaked through a small gap in the bushes and spotted a familiar head of dark curly hair. It was a little longer than he remembered, but unmistakable. If the boy was anything like Steve remembered from school, someone who regularly stood up to defend others and had a habit of adopting any outcast he came upon, then he was sure they could trust him to help.
Steve turned, ready to warn El that they had company, but instead, for the second time that day, he was just in time to catch her as she fainted. He knew walking all this way was going to be too much.
He cradled her in his arms and pushed through the last of the brush separating them from the rock.
The other boy went deathly pale, blinking hard several times as he stared at the new arrivals.
“Harrington? Is that really you?”
Steve felt a surge of sympathy for the guy, he knew they must be a sight, covered in blood and dirt.

Due to the work of your parents, you are forcet to constantly move. However, this time moving houses let to interesting and unusual events. You met 8 handsome boys at school and somehow you managed to move in with them. How will your fate go?
......................................................................................................................
You felt much better the next day. The whole burden fell off your shoulders and you no longer had to be afraid that you would have to go back to your family home.
You quickly got up and went to the kitchen where the others were waiting for you. This time they were all dressed. The lovely smell of french toast and freshly fried eggs hung in the air. On the table were spread out plates, various side dishes and jugs with freshly squeezed juice.
Everything looked so appetizing that it made your mouth water. You sat down at the table, greeted by everyone, and before you knew it, there was a plate with toast and eggs in front of you that Minho had placed. You smiled at him as he left and  returned to the kitchen to finish making breakfast.
You immediately began to eat the delicacies. The food was delicious and melted in your mouth, dissolving wonderful flavors all over your tongue. You can't remember the last time you ate such a good and simple breakfast.
You all spent the rest of the morning together before going to school together. Even on the journey, your conversations did not cease. Yesterday's situation with Minho brought you all closer together.
You were in the front passenger seat of the car. In fact, the boys have always let you sit in the front, but when you weren't in the car with them, everyone was fighting for their seat.
The morning was beautiful, the sun was shining and highlighted the green grass and beautifully developed crowns of trees. The scent of blooming flowers floated in the air, and various colors enveloped the lawns. You couldn't resist looking out the window, admiring the wonderful nature that spread around you.
You were on your way to school when suddenly you felt a hand on your thigh. Your body tensed, and you had to stop yourself from moaning softly. The situation with Felix flashed through your mind immediately.
You looked at the person who made your heart beat faster. It was Minho who was driving the car.
He looked amazing in his dark glasses and his leather jacket. Plus, driving a car with one hand and brushing your leg with the other was appealing to you.
“Thank you Y/n for forgiving me.” He smiled nonchalantly as he stopped the car at the light.
“You have nothing to thank for.” You quickly looked away, trying to calm your raging breathing. Your heart was pounding like it was about to jump out of a cage. You squeezed your eyes shut and took deep, quiet breaths. Which slowly started to help and after a while you calmed down a bit.
While pulling into the parking lot in front of the school, you saw a familiar figure through the window. Only after a while did you realize that this person resembled your ex. You quickly turned your head towards the boy, but the turning car blocked your view.
Your heart started pounding like crazy again, but this time out of fear. You and your ex broke up on rather bad terms. Seonghwa, because that was your ex's name, was obsessed with you to the point that he became very aggressive towards everyone around you, even you.
As soon as the car stopped, you ran out of it, nearly falling over, to see if you had actually seen your ex. But there was no one else like him in that place.
“Y/n?...Are you okay?” Seungmin asked as he approached you. The boy was surprised by your behavior, after all you looked like a madwoman jumping out of the car.
“Oh…Yeah…It's okay. I thought I saw someone, but I must have foreseen it." You replied, scratching your head. You were 80% sure you saw Seonghwa.
Not wanting to look like an idiot any more, you headed towards the school, where the others had already left. But Seungmin stopped you by grabbing your hand. You turned to the visibly embarrassed boy. His ears were all red and his face was starting to blush.
“Listen y/n I know you've been having a hard time lately, but I've been wanting to get to know you better for a long time and all. And... I have a question ... Or maybe, but only of course if you want. I'm not forcing you to do anything. Would you like to go on a picnic with me?" You saw that the boy took a long time to say that. You had to admit he looked cute when he was embarrassed.
“Are you asking me out on a date?” You smiled teasingly, wanting to tease him a bit.
And you definitely got what you wanted. The boy stood in front of you, scratching his head, laughing slightly.
“When  you put it this way…I am asking you out on a date.” He tried to control his embarrassment.
You smiled sweetly, trying to calm Seungmin. You can't remember the last time someone asked you out on a date and you were very happy that you would finally have this opportunity. You walked over to him and placed a sweet kiss on his cheek.
“I would love to.  Just tell me when and where and I'll be there."
A huge smile appeared on the boy's face, which you liked so much. You knew he rarely smiled, but when he did, it grabbed your heart.
“Tonight, on the roof of our house.” You were surprised because you didn't know that you could climb onto the roof in your house. "I'll take you easy. You can wait in the living room, I'll be sure to come get you."
You were grateful that Seungmin cared about you so much. You didn't have to lie, you were a little nervous. After all, you haven't been on such a real date in a long time, because you couldn't expect it from your ex.
“Great, see you tonight.” You kissed him again on the cheek and you went to class as there were 5 minutes left of the lesson.
Classes were going rather smoothly for you, but you were all larks, looking forward to your date with Seungmin. You were curious what he came up with, in the end the boy was all mysterious and you didn't know what to expect.
By the end of class, you couldn't sit still, you were all excited about today's meeting. You left the classroom and went to your locker to put your books away. On the way, judging by his posture, a hooded boy passed you. You couldn't see his face, but you could smell a strong scent in the air.
You smelled the marine scent that tickled your nostrils. You knew this perfume well and only knew one person who used it. You turned to the boy who passed by, but you didn't see his face. You were pretty sure you were in contact with your ex again, but you didn't want to panic just yet.
After returning home, you had 3 hours to meet Min in the evening. You were running around the house in amok, trying to make yourself look like a goddess. The rest of the boys, who knew about your date today, just laughed at your rush and twist.
You looked cute not knowing what to do with yourself and what to put your hands in. You were excited, maybe even too excited. Your hair, previously tied in a neat bun, has already partly fallen out of the updo and stood out in different directions.
All you've done since you got home is wash up. You found yourself acting like a little girl going on her first date. When you managed to control your emotions a bit, you started doing your makeup in your room.
This time you put on delicate make-up, something like no make-up, but you emphasized your big eyes, with eyeliner. You applied a light pink lip gloss to your lips to accentuate your full lips. Despite such a small make-up, it took you a lot of time. Three hours turned into an hour and a half.
All that's left to do is get a hair done and find the right clothes. You sat on the ground in front of the mirror next to your wardrobe. You loved this place. It was wonderfully lit by the sun's rays, and the soft rug that lay next to it was very comfortable and you loved to sit on it in your spare time.
This time you put your hair down. Your natural soft waves looked especially nice today. Then it was time to choose clothes, which was probably the worst thing. Especially since you had no one to turn to, and you were actually ashamed to ask anyone.
You spent an hour rummaging through your closet, despite not having a lot of clothes. You wanted to look stunning, but not too sexy. After all, it's just a picnic, not dinner at a fancy restaurant.
You put on a lot of clothes trying to fit something together. Your room now looked like a wreck. Clothes were scattered all over the room. If someone walked in here right now, you'd feel really stupid because they'd think you were living in such a mess.
You finally managed to find the perfect combination - a white short skirt and a light pink top. In addition, you put on white knee-highs and emphasized the outfit with matching shoes.
You looked at yourself and had to admit that you looked cute but not overdone, so perfect. You were finally ready to go out on your date. You let out a small squeal of excitement before heading to the living room.
To your surprise, you didn't meet any other boy except Seungmin, who was already waiting for you in the living room, with a bouquet of flowers in his hand. The sweet scent of roses wafted throughout the room. Not only with a bouquet, but also with a scented candle placed along the corridor.
“Wow Y/n you look gorgeous.” Minnie began, handing you a bouquet. His dandy voice made you feel safe.
You bit your lip lightly and combed your hair too dry, taking the bouquet in a timid gesture. A bright blush appeared on your face as the boy intertwined your fingers and began to lead you to the roof of the house.
Rose petals were scattered on the stairs leading up. The whole situation looked like something out of a fairy tale. As the boy opened the door you had no idea about before, you saw a light coming from behind the door. It was already evening, but the sun was still in the sky, although it was about to set.
When you got to the roof, your attention was caught by a blanket lying on the ground, on which various treats were placed. There were strawberries, grapes, all sorts of salty snacks, wine, and even a chocolate fountain. Small lamps hung above the blanket, adding charm to the place.
You really wouldn't dream of this place even in your dreams. Seungmin really tried to make you remember this evening.
He invited you to sit on the blanket and he sat comfortably across from him. Your face was beaming with delight. You felt like a princess and he was your prince charming.
Your conversations were timid at first, but after one glass of wine you both loosened up a bit. Now you were sitting close to each other, shoulder to shoulder, your hands almost touching.
“Look y/n how beautiful the sky is.” The boy said, pointing to the orange sun setting behind the city buildings. You were so engrossed in talking to him that you almost missed this beautiful moment.
The sky was multicolored and looked amazing. You haven't seen such a beautiful sunset in a long time. You rested your head on his shoulder and stared up at the changing colors of the sky. The boy put his head on yours and together you made the most of this wonderful moment.
After a moment, as if timidly, Seungmin placed his hand over yours, covering it completely. He intertwined your fingers from above without even looking at you. You felt your body heat up and your heart speed up. You stayed in this pose until the sun completely disappeared behind the buildings.
As the sky darkened a little, you felt like eating something. So you reached for a strawberry and dipped it in chocolate. As soon as you bit into it, you felt an explosion of flavors in your mouth. The bittersweet taste of chocolate with the sweet and sour taste of strawberries blended perfectly together.
After you ate enough to fill up, you noticed that the boy was staring at you intently.
“Did I get dirty somewhere?” Trying to wipe your mouth.
But the boy continued to stare at you. He approached slowly, wanting to wipe away the chocolate that was left on your lips with his finger. His gaze was fixed on your lips, and his face got closer and closer to you, sending a wave of pleasant warmth spreading down your spine.
"Fuck it, I can't help myself." He said before connecting your lips together.
Your eyes widened and you froze for a moment. A pleasant current ran down your neck, which only then unfrozen you and you kissed back.
The boy's lips were sweet as honey and soft as the clouds that flew across the sky. Feeling your body's signals, he deepened the kiss, placing his hand on your cheek. He gently rubbed your face with his thumb, signaling you to open your mouth.
You politely obeyed his unspoken command. The boy immediately slipped his tongue into your mouth. You weren't even going to fight for dominance, this time you gave yourself completely. Your kisses got more and more intense. The saliva had long since mixed together, and the breaths had merged into one. The air was slowly running out, but both of you had no intention of stopping.
You let yourself be carried away by emotions and in one swift move, without breaking the kiss, you sat astride the boy. Surprised by your initiative, Seungmin broke your kiss for a moment. You both gasped for air as you pulled away from each other, but you didn't let go of the boy.
“Y/n…I fell in love with you. I fell in love the first time I saw you in the library." The boy's words echoed in your head. You were slightly surprised, but positively surprised, because you also had feelings for him.
The boy, looking straight into your eyes, which reflected the first rays of the moon, grabbed you by the waist, pulling you closer to him.
Feeling a slight friction on your core, which was covered with a thin, almost not fully covering material, you didn't have time to stop yourself, and a rather loud moan came out of your mouth. The whole romantic situation with Min, and then those kisses, made your pussy very sensitive.
Hearing your moan, Seungmin pulled away from you to look at your face. You lightly bit your finger, eyes squeezed tight. You looked cute but very attractive.
“Do you like it, y/n?” he whispered. His silken voice, tickling your ear, made you arch your back.
Your chest rose and fell heavier and heavier. You couldn't help but bite your lip again as you felt more movements under your crotch. He started to move his hips slowly, making you very excited. You knew if he continued this, you'd come faster than you ever thought possible.
Suddenly, the boy stopped moving, which was met with great indignation on your part. You lightly patted him on the chest, which made him chuckle.
"Go ahead, I'll be happy to watch." The boy's words, additionally spoken in a slightly hoarse voice, caused you another hot flush.
You put your arms around his neck and started to slowly move your hips. The bulge that formed in his pants further stimulated your throbbing cunt. As you quickened your pace and his hard cock crept between your folds, through the thin fabric of his pants, you couldn't help but moan loudly.
You quickly covered your mouth, not wanting anyone to hear you. Neither the boys who were downstairs, nor the neighbors who could go outside at any moment. However, Min had other plans. He grabbed your hand and placed it on his chest.
"I want to hear how I work on you. You're so beautiful when you please yourself, by riding me." He then placed a sweet kiss on your neck, sucking on it.
The contact of his lips against your skin made you completely forget where you were and that someone might hear you. You were completely carried away by your emotions and couldn't hold back the moans that escaped your lips.
The rubbing against him and his kisses on your neck left you in a wet mess down there. You felt your orgasm slowly approaching.
Beads of sweat ran down both of your foreheads and your hair stuck to your body. But neither of you had the slightest intention of stopping.
Sensing your approach, he began to move his hips, matching your rhythm. Your breathing quickened, and you already felt dizzy from the emotions that were tormenting you. You hugged him tightly, speeding up your movements.
“Minnie…I’m going to cum” That's all you managed to say.
You made a few moves and orgasm took over your whole body. Your eyes rolled back and your body shivered intensely. Your body was shaking uncontrollably for a long time. Tightly cuddled up to the boy, you experienced your fulfillment.
After your orgasm, you stayed in this position for a while, trying to control your breathing, which was heavy and gasping.
“Minnie, I have feelings for you too.” You whispered as you moved and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
As you pulled away, you saw a big smile on your boy's face. Seungmin stroked your head and gave you another puppy smile.
Suddenly you heard the phone ringing…your phone. You knew you had committed the biggest faux-pas by bringing your phone with you. You quickly got up from his legs and tried to turn off the ringing phone. However, you noticed Sebastian's number, and you knew that the man wasn't calling you for no reason. You were about to pick up when the phone hung up.
So you went back to Min and apologized to him very much for the situation and that you spoiled the wonderful atmosphere. When you knelt next to the boy, you saw a wet stain on his gray pants. Only then did you realize that the wet stain was from you. You were so wet that the thin fabric of your panties couldn't hold your juices.
“Oh god, Seungmin I’m sorry.” You quickly grabbed a napkin and started wiping his crotch. It took you a moment to realize that maybe it wasn't the best idea to grab his dick through the thin fabric while trying to get rid of the stain.
A swashbuckling smirk appeared on the boy's face as he watched your face turn redder and redder. Your phone saved you from complete ridicule.
You quickly picked it up and went to the other end of the roof.
“Miss, Miss, Miss's parents seem to be getting suspicious. Today they called me to inform me about the extension of the trip. They also asked if Miss is doing well at home, and then they started asking all sorts of weird questions. I have the impression that the staff members have begun to say something. Let the Lady take care of herself." You heard a note of concern in his voice.
“Thank you Sebastian, I can always rely on you. I guess I need to be more careful and go back home for a while. Make sure the servants don't snoop around, and I'll take care of the rest myself." You replied leaning against the railing.
The butler took note of what you had just said and hung up. You turned to Seungmin who had already cleaned up all the food.
Grabbing your hand, he led you downstairs to the living room where no one was there.
“I need to freshen up, but I really enjoyed spending time with you. I hope you'll be happy to go on a second date with me." He kissed you tenderly on the forehead.
You just nodded and went to your room. You closed the door and slid down to the ground. You were in seventh heaven after a fruitful evening with Seungmin. Your thoughts sometimes landed on the boy, and sometimes they flew towards what Sebastian said. But that didn't change the fact that you felt wonderful and glad that you and Seungmin's feelings were the same.

more on my headcanon of beverly and maggie tozier because i love them,, imagine beverly on her wedding day. everything’s ready to go, beverly is in her dressing room, practicing her vows one final time before she went out to meet ben. she wasn’t nervous, not really- she loved ben, more than anything, and she couldn’t wait to marry him, it was just that…
beverly had made the decision a while ago to walk down the aisle herself. she didn’t have a parent to walk with her, and while that small detail of her wedding hadn’t bothered her very much before, now as she stood alone in her dressing room, she couldn’t help but feel like something was missing. but even so, the wedding had already started, everyone was already in their places, she could hear the music already starting to play-
when the door opened behind her, beverly forced herself to stop thinking and turn. one of the employees at the venue was supposed to come and get her when it was time… which is why it was such a surprise when beverly saw somebody else peeking through the door.
“maggie?” she said, approaching the door. “what are you doing here?”
maggie tozier was beaming with happiness, with pride at seeing beverly looking so beautiful on this day. “they’re ready for you,” she said. “i know that you had someone else arranged, i ran into him in the hall, but i thought that you’d maybe like to see a familiar face.”
surprisingly, beverly did. walking out of the room and towards the ceremony with maggie- the woman who had practically raised beverly with the amount of time beverly had spent at the tozier’s house throughout her childhood and even adult years- definitely felt better than she assumed it would have walking with some stranger.
but when they reached the large doors, and maggie did a quick check of beverly’s hair and dress and makeup to make sure that everything was perfect, it was that feeling of loneliness that caught beverly’s attention… or, more so, the lack of it. as maggie tozier adjusted the positioning of the flowers in the bouquet beverly was holding, beverly came to the realization. it was the same realization that she had thirty years earlier, during one of the first times beverly had visited the tozier household and maggie had noticed the bruises on beverly’s wrist and the rips on her clothes.
“you don’t have to go through this alone,” maggie had told her. “i will be here for you, if you ever need help.”
at that point, beverly had only met mrs. tozier three times, but upon hearing those words, words of comfort and support and love from an adult for the first time in a long time, beverly had come to the realization that mrs. tozier was more than just her friend’s mom. she was a kind, compassionate, loving woman who had gotten beverly through some of the hardest times of her childhood. she was the woman who always had the bed in their guest room set up and ready for when beverly escaped the apartment and needed to spend the night somewhere safe. she was the woman who helped beverly move out when she finally turned eighteen, and the woman who cooked enough food to fill up an entire refrigerator to make sure that beverly was eating enough when she was living alone. she was the woman who held a twelve-year-old beverly while she cried and promised that things would be okay- and she did the same with a sixteen-year-old beverly, and a twenty-five-year-old beverly, and a thirty-two year old beverly.
she was a mother. and she was, in every way except biologically, beverly’s mother.
“alright, you look absolutely gorgeous,” maggie said, moving a strand of hair out of beverly’s eyes. “you’re up, but give me enough time to get back to my seat, okay? i don’t want to miss a thing-”
“wait,” beverly said, reaching out and taking her by the hand. maggie looked back at her, and beverly was trying extremely hard not to cry. “maggie… will you walk me down the aisle?”
maggie’s bottom lip quivered as her expression softened, and beverly could tell that she wasn’t the only one fighting back tears. maggie straightened her dress, fluffed up her hair, and took a step closer to beverly. she held her arm out, her elbow extended towards the bride. “of course,” she said with a smile. “are you ready?”
beverly placed her hand against maggie’s arm, and it felt like that last missing piece had finally been put into place. everything was perfect. beverly nodded, turning to face the doors in front of them. “ready.”

10) I have never been this sick before I'm sorry did I, haha this is so weird, but did I confess my love for you? f- four times? yeah? haha oh, superbats
listen. as someone who has been entirely out of my mind on medication for the past two days, i felt like i understand exactly what to do with this prompt. and yet. and yet. i still went off the rails with it. this is not as superbat as i wanted it to be but duke is there and i feel like tha tmakes up for it
id link the prompt list this is from but i lost it. sorry. i ptu off answering this for too long
Alfred said it was the flu. Not Ivy's newest batch of toxin, or Tetch's mind control, or the lasting effects of a JLA fight gone wrong, or even a stomach bug from eating Tim's latest feeble attempt at cooking while desperately trying to practice to impress his boyfriend. It was just the plain old flu. And Bruce had never felt worse.
Alfred said it probably wouldn't have been half as bad if he hadn't gone out to patrol in the snow, multiple times, even after being warned not to. Damian said it probably wouldn't have been half as bad if he hadn't insisted on testing those antitoxins on himself recently. Jason said he'd slipped a viral strand of zombie DNA into his coffee grounds the last time he swung by, and it was only after Cass pointed out the coffee grounds also would've poisoned half the house that he realized Jason was most certainly just fucking with him. Duke said he should probably run the tests just in case, because the freezing batcave would certainly do him a lot of good, and somehow that entirely reasonable suggestion just wound up making Alfred more frustrated than ever.
And then Alfred did the unthinkable.
He called in the cavalry.
There were few things more humiliating than being babysat by the man of steel in his own home. Objectively, Bruce could understand why Alfred had called Clark; Clark was responsible, kind, reasonable, already familiar with the Manor, and very good at fielding both Bruce and his kids. He also had the physical strength to literally stand his ground with Bruce, when needed. But Bruce was half-out of his mind with the flu and even through the fogginess of his own miserable stupidity, he had just enough awareness to know that it was beyond embarrassing for Clark to see him like this.
He was sleepy and disgusting, useless beyond any injury he'd ever sustained, even his mind rendered weak in the face of the sickness. He was sweaty all the time, and half the time he could barely think past the sensory nightmare of being sick, all of his routines shattered and his own bed so nasty it made his skin crawl. Words felt impossible most of the time, until it was easier to communicate with Cass than anyone else. When he did speak, it was barely more than incoherent mumbles, and usually about The Gray Ghost, which was the only thing he could bring himself to focus on for more than ten seconds at a time. His memory came and went, and being sick turned into a montage of Gray Ghost episodes and beloved faces, with Clark's featuring most heavily.
When his fever finally broke, he felt desperate to be out of bed and gain some semblance of humanity back. It was humiliating to constantly be guided back to bed like he was frail, or to lie around in a shivering, sweaty mess while Clark tried simultaneously to keep him distracted and pretend not to notice. He needed a shower, and food, and goddamn it, even some sunlight would be welcome. More than anything, he needed to not be in his damn room for ten seconds.
Perhaps taking pity on him, Clark agreed to it, deeming that he was at least well enough that he could probably make it down the stairs without falling over. The world felt a lot less hateful after a shower, and even bundled up in a miserable huddle of blankets, unable to smell the fresh pancakes through his congestion, it felt good to sit in the kitchen and breathe fresher air, out of the cramped darkness of his own room. His coffee was warm in his hands, and for a while, he just closed his eyes, listening to the rush of the gas stove and the scrape of Clark's spatula against the pan.
"Hey, looks like the jailbird's flown the coop. Or are we finally posting bail?" Duke's voice was light as it drifted into the room, shoes scuffing on the floor. It wasn't the same heaviness as the Signal's boots, so he was in his civvies. Not here on bat business.
"He wanted a change of scenery," Clark explained. His footsteps were steady, the tap of a plate as it touched down in front of Bruce soft. His fingers brushed through Bruce's hair, combing it back out of his face. "He's doing better today. His morning report says he's still got the shakes, and his congestion is pretty bad, but there were barely any typos this time, and it was actually coherent." Bruce didn't miss the teasing tone in his voice, and he scowled.
"Wow. Does that mean the spelling error "love you" era has come to an end at last?" Duke's voice sounded from closer to the stove, no doubt stealing pancakes from the remaining pile.
Bruce could hear the grin in Clark's voice. "I overestimated on the pancake batter. Help yourself."
"Sweet."
Clark kissed the top of Bruce's head, giving his shoulder a squeeze before he returned to the stove. "Eat, Bruce. You're only going to feel more shaky if you don't eat anything."
Bruce sighed, taking one long, last sip from his coffee before he set it down and forced himself to open his eyes. Clark hadn't given him a ton of food, probably knowing he wouldn't be able to finish it, but the pancakes looked golden and warm enough that he allowed himself to unfurl from his blankets, reaching for the fork. Clark and Duke's chatter fell into fuzzy, comfortable background as he ate, and he had to admit, it was nice. It was always nice knowing one of his kids was close by and safe, and it was good to listen without any real expectation of having to participate himself.
After a while, his phone buzzed in his pocket. There was a text from Duke that said, "How are you holding up, big guy?"
The string of texts before the most recent one were disturbingly incoherent. He could remember some- his rant about The Gray Ghost most clearly, from when Duke had dropped in to check on him and infodumping to Clark had turned into infodumping to Duke- but a lot were lost to the fog entirely. There was a pattern to them, though; Duke, checking in, or sending him pictures, keeping him updated, and Bruce responding with some variation of "I'm ok, tell lckar to let me uot," or "Thank yuo, loev you."
A quick look at his other recent contacts revealed a similar pattern. Jason had blocked him two days ago after Bruce had texted him the same check-in message ten times in one day. Cass had started texting him pictures all the time. Barbara had gently informed him she was locking him out of his emails and social media for his own good. Diana had delightedly texted him back that she loved him too. Bruce did not want to even look at he and Clark's history.
He texted Duke back, "I know they're saving screenshots of me. Make them delete them, immediately."
Duke's laughter was loud and warm. "It is way too late for that, B."

auauiuoou thankyou my bestest little guy,,,,,,,more random entirely-non-kink-related thoughts haphazardly cobbled together from discord messages (someday i will dig up some actual tummy-themed ones)
sometimes he watches a video on his phone without realizing his volumes up & scares himself. usually only happens at home or at his friends houses & if someones around to witness it theyre like Bro What The Fuck til they realize hes like dropping his phone trying to turn it off. hrs so embarrassed too hes like Im Not An Ipad Baby Im Not!!! hes like Im Not A Tiktok Baby!!!!!!!!! bc u KNOW lauries makin fun of him for it. shes like You Ipad Baby. You Tiktok Baby. I Bet You Watch Cocomelon Fortnite Compilations Loud As Hell At Applebees.
he loves sending his friends emails with URGENT!!!!!!!!!!! as the subject & itll just be some stupid shit but i think sometimes he'll do that & the email will just say "hi" . sometimes he'll do it when hes sitting like 10 feet from somebody & if they happen to be the kind of person who has notifications on & checks their emails right away theyll read it & he'll be sittin there like : - )
sometimes laurie will just pick sunny up & either shake him or squeeze him real hard or somethin of that nature & hes just fine with it. hes very light & malleable like aluminum foil
he Loves singin in the kitchen and the shower and the car and wherever etc. he sings preddy good which is a good thing bc he is Not shy about it hes putting his whole pussy into it doesnt matter if hes got the whole crew hangin around. i was pondering What sunnys singing voice sounds like bc his vocal range is Nuts & he can go high And low & i was thinking maybe he has kind of a billy joel vibe but not Quite. bc his natural speaking voice is a little on the higher side & billy joel is a smidge lower than how i imagine his natural singing voice sounding. i was like "hes somewhere between billy joel & frankie valli" & then i was like Wait Thats Just Uptown Girl. like he Can sing lower & higher if he wants to but thats like his Most Natural Singing Voice is somewhere around there. the higher end of the billy joel range
laurie loves stuffed animals i just Know sunnys trying to win her some big shitty bear at some shitty carnival game
he tries 2 be good with boundaries even tho theres def times when he freaks it. sometimes he overcompensates trying to make up for minor infractions. he likes being on good terms with people. hes one of those people whos like I Need Everyone To Like Me Or Else Ill Die. [but also he genuinely cares its not All him being self centered]. hes ascared of Being In Trouble and Being Bad [which could mean anything from making someone mildly displeased for a moment or completely & totally fucking up an entire relationship] #rsd. but then like he also cant help just totally bein a nuisance 100% of the time
tbh . i think Big Hug is his response to a lot of things. Hes A Hugger
he struggles with analog clocks he'll be trying to read one & hes like ✋Everyone Shut Up Im Focusing😤. i think left & right takes him a second too. sorry i love projecting
i think sunny says Go Piss Girl when laurie gets up to go to the bathroom & she smacks him in the head
any time hes trying to do something hes like running around in circles he always gets mixed up about what he needs to do first and what he needs to do next and where he needs to be headed and what hes supposed to be getting and hes just all over the place & hes straight up just spinning around trying to think. it takes him SO long to get started on something. once he gets going its fine as long as its a familiar task but it doesnt take much to break his focus. its like that sometimes when hes talking too. he gets sidetracked So easily sometimes it takes him like 10 tries to get a thought out before he finally manages to say what he wanted to say bc his brain keeps going on tangents & he starts rambling about other shit
he was the chattiest most outgoing little kid he would be like sittin with his mom at the dmv chattin up random nearby people he would be that kid at school who keeps sucking the sub into a conversation he wasnt shy around strangers At All but if he saw someone in like some big weird costume all of a sudden hes hiding behind moms leg. easter bunny? fuck no. mall santa? fuck no. smokey visits his school? fuck no. halloween? Good God What Is Going On Out There
ADDICTION TW - hes def the type whos gonna get addicted to something when he makes it big. & like he'll get off it before it kills him but theres no WAY hes making it through stardom without getting hooked on Somethin for a while. & he manages to hide it for a while but as soon as someone he cares about finds out he just starts Sobbing hes so ashamed. which is probably a turning point. getting out of it would probably also give him the push he needs to get actual mental health help
he may be wildly insecure about every last aspect of his personality but at least he has no doubt that hes cute. its like hes somehow never absorbed anything bad anyones ever said about short guys or big noses or hairy backs or what have you. He Knows Hes Cute its a simple fact of life
he tends to be interested in women more than men & i wonder if part of that is bc he feels less comfortable with his attraction to men bc hes been shamed for it. like he'll hook up with guys if they initiate it & he'll talk about Cute Guys but he doesnt tend to Seek Out those relations the way he does with The Ladies. part of it is simply that He Loves The Ladies but i think part of it is hes never allowed himself to fully embrace his bisexuality
sunnys the kinda guy to take a giant bite of somethin he Just took outta the oven & be like 🫢 Ih Hot ! hes like 🫢🫢🫢🫢H & lauries like Wow I Wonder How That Happened .

Chapter 4 has been released and here is an excerpt
This will be extremely long though:
“Fine.” Yan sighed. “I guess you’re right about that.” He really didn’t like being told he was wrong.
“And… you need to put some clothes on,” Bedi said to Yan. He himself was only half dressed with his blonde hair down and he had yet to put a shirt on.
“Well, what can I do after that,” Yan asked Bedi. “Can I just take a nap while you make dinner?”
“Yes, but please remember to take care of yourself, Yan Qing,” Bedi replied.
“Okay, fine,” Yan also replied. He eventually got dressed in the pajamas he chose for himself, washed his face, and brushed his teeth. He was too tired to finish everything else and he nearly choked on his green panda toothbrush and the Drest toothpaste he was using. His eyes were feeling really heavy and they needed to be shut, so he quickly rushed over to his bed and fell asleep. He didn’t care about that chicken for dinner anymore because he was just too tired.
When he woke up, it was winter again. There was little sun, just the cold snow. Yet he was in his old wooden house that hadn’t been touched in over several thousand years. And this was his old bed. It felt stiff and uncomfortable compared to his old bed. Mainly since it was on the ground as well. It was very different from how he remembered it. The bedding was nonexistent and only consisted of a lambskin blanket and a wooden bamboo pillow.
“Ah, Langzi. You’re finally awake.” That old man’s voice was very familiar sounding. A fatherly voice that also gave Yan comfort just hearing it. It must’ve been…
“Papa,” Yan exclaimed.
He realized something was off about his voice. It sounded very high-pitched and childlike. He looked at his hands quickly and noticed they were small.
Wait a second, Yan thought. This is a childhood memory of mine, right? If so, then where is…
The snow that evening. The warm wooden house. The smell of roasted beef being cooked with rice and vegetables. It must’ve been the day they found Yan Langzi’s closest childhood friend. Yan himself decided to wake up to the smell of delicious food.
“How was your nap, Langzi? It’s time for supper!”
“Master! Papa!”
“You only just woke up, boy,” the man replied. “I suppose you had a nightmare about losing me then, right?”
“Yes, papa. I am scared of losing you to a ghost or something like that!”
“Don’t worry, that won’t happen child!”
Little did Li know something similar to a ghost would eventually kill him. Yan had to warn him about… no. He couldn’t change his past. He didn’t want to.
“Hey papa,” Yan asked while he was eating. “After we are done with dinner, can we get some snow and melt it for the bath water?”
“I suppose so,” Li replied. “You better eat more though.”
“But what if someone else wants the food? As in a stray cat or dog? Or maybe a person?”
Li just laughed happily. “If that’s the case, I suppose a bit of extra food or money for food won’t hurt! We don’t have many resources during the winter though, so we should save it.”
After they were done eating, the father and his adoptive son put on some spare winter clothes before heading out. Because of how small Yan was, Li was able to carry him on his back and their ornate snow umbrella covered both of them.
It took about close to 15 minutes, but they found a great spot with no stained snow. It was by an ancient tomb of a hero from two dynasties ago, but it wasn’t too far from where they lived. Just as they were about to gather the snow, they heard a little boy crying.
“Help me, please,” the boy shouted. “I don’t have any place to call home! I want a mommy or daddy! It’s so cold”
Yan quickly ran as fast as he could! When he came and saw the boy, he saw how awful his condition was. He was half naked, only wearing very thin pants, and had no shoes. His long brown hair was matted and hadn’t been washed. The boy himself was also very smelly and thin. Langzi could tell he hadn’t bathed or eaten in who knows how long.
“Are you okay,” Yan Langzi shouted!? “What happened to you? You’re half naked, your pants are thin, and you look really hungry!”
“I… I” the boy was trying his best to speak but he couldn’t think of anything to say without tears coming out of his eyes.
 “They don’t know… I exist… They just… laugh at me for… I don’t know…”
Li Junyi followed his son and found him with the boy. He heard everything but wasn’t unkind or judgmental. Upon seeing the half-naked boy, he draped his cloak over him like a blanket.
“You must’ve been so cold you poor boy. Are you alright? What’s your name?”
“I… don’t have a name. Or a family.”
“Then I suppose we’ll be your family. Your name will be ‘Li Yize’ because you seem like a kind-hearted boy.”
Li Junyi cradled the boy in his arms. Eventually, it was time that Yan and Junyi to see his eyes. They were a soft blue with some violet hues, and they had a kind and gentle aura that surrounded the young boy overall.
“Langzi, please come.”
“Alright,” Yan replied. “Is that boy gonna be our family?”
Li smiled at Yan as he caught up to his papa with the water bucket they brought.
“Yes, yes he will. He doesn’t have a place to call home at the moment, and we should give it to him.”
A stomach growled. It must’ve come from little Yize.
“Oh, and Papa,” Yan asked. “Do we have any spare food and clothes for him?”
“I’m sure we do,” Li replied. “If not, I will go to the market and get some for him.”

Seven Snippet Sunday
it’s monday afternoon but I wouldn’t worry about that. tagged by @bumblerhizal-art, tagging @guzmascanary, @cryptidpiers, & anyone else who wants to do this. taken from various in-progress pokemon fics
1) I Just Wanted To Illustrate A Headcanon About Possession And Delayed Amnesia And Now I’m Researching Folk Medicine, How Did I End Up Here
You turn your attention to the hearth where you’ve left a soup broth bubbling for your guest; kelp and dried fish, something simple and nourishing that he should be able to keep down even if his stomach isn’t cooperating. You leave it be and go about preparing an herbal tea to soothe his fever as well as any pain he might be in. Lady Sneasler sniffs the curling steam and recoils, giving you an offended look that can most politely be interpreted as You're not seriously feeding him that, are you?
"Oh, pardon me, I didn't realize you’d become an expert in herbal remedies. I've seen you eat Stunky carrion, My Lady, don't go acting like you have some kind of refined palate." Lady Sneasler gives a mollified sniff and stations herself at the head of the stranger’s cot.
2) Fun Times With Outsider POVs
You're about 6 inches from the door when someone calls out "Excuse me!" You turn to see a shy-looking girl jump up from the bench and follow you to the door. Your immediate impression of this girl is paaale, from her flax-colored hair to her all-white outfit to her suspiciously pristine shoes.
"You were able to beat the gym leader, right?" She points at the Cerulean gym badge pinned to the strap of your bag. "That means you're strong, right?"
"Sure, I guess so." You shrug. It's only your second badge so far, but if she wants to flatter you, you're not going to stop her.
"Then would you mind having a battle with me? I need more practice." The girl enunciates very carefully, and speaks with a noticeable accent. Probably foreign, then.
3) Lunch Time With Selene And The Champion Of Alola
"It's some bullshit that Goli can't learn U-Turn, though," he grumbles. "Fuckin' obscene is what it is."
"You gonna do League Regulation about it?" You half-tease. You take the basket and start helping yourself to the fried squash. "You're the law until I feel like taking my title back, and all. 'Can he get all the paperwork processed before being ultimately dethroned?' Think of the new layer of challenge that would add--"
"Shaddup, brat." He yanks the basket away and starts rooting around for any onion pieces you've left behind. "Pretty sure it don't work like that. You can't exactly regulate a Goldeen into bein' able to use Fire Punch, you dig?"
"You can if you're not a weenie!" Guzma beans a piece of eggplant off your forehead. "Fi-i-i-ine, but does Kukui know you know that?"
There is a moment of thoughtful silence before a wicked grin spreads across his face. "I think I'm gonna have to give the Professor a call after this."
4) The Existential Implications of Parasect
There might be Parasect in Galar somewhere, but if there are, they wouldn’t be anywhere near Spikemuth. So this is the first chance you’ve ever had to get familiar with one. You're struck suddenly by its eyes; what you’d taken from a distance to be cataracts is actually a film of fuzzy, fibrous growth that completely covers the creature’s eyestalks. managing the family grocery budget and making sure there was always good food in the house, recoils in horror. Mold! That’s mold, you idiot! You shut it right up. It’s not a strawberry that’s gone past its sell-by date, it’s a pokemon, and it belongs to your very good friend. Even if it is a creepy little thing.
“Cute, ain’t he?” Guzma sighs, touching his cheek to yours.
5) Real Cahoots Will Change Your Life
It is far from a secret that the two of you came from another time and place, but there are many aspects of that experience that you simply do not refer to in mixed company. In some cases your shared status as outsiders allows others to overlook social missteps, and in others, it is an excuse to look at them twice as hard. There are feelings you don't acknowledge, opinions you do not voice, because doing so in mixed company would serve no purpose but to emphasize that you are not truly one of them. The atmosphere it creates is as oppressive as a hand on your throat. And for the two of you, strangers in a strange land, mixed company is thus far the only kind you've had.
That, you suppose, is why you said yes. It is a kind of loneliness that cuts straight to the bone, and persists even as you find yourself surrounded by people.
6) I’m Pretty Sure This Is How Everyone Reacts To Seeing Leon For The First Time
The guy’s about Kukui’s height with a pretty similar build, but where Kukui is attractive in a relatively ordinary way, this guy is—there’s no other word for it—boy band pretty, with miles of shiny purple hair and absurdly sparkly gold eyes. He looks like a Disney princess and he’s wearing lime green running shorts and an awful tacky souvenir tee-shirt that reads Hulbury Aquarium over its stretched-out decal in giant orange letters. What the fucking fuck.
You know you’ve been staring too long when he clears his throat and asks “Are you alright?” His brows are creased slightly with concern. Fuck, those eyes. How are they so expressive? You force your jaw shut and try to come up with something non-obnoxious to say.
“Yeah, m’fine.” You are not fine, you’ve got twigs in your hair, dirt all down your front—that shirt was white, fuck your hot life—the pokemon you wanted to catch is long gone, and you’re apparently too brain-scrambled to manage complete sentences in the presence of the most stupidly pretty person you’ve seen in the last ever. Fuck this trip, you’re going home.
7) Cyrus Goes to Space & is Only 75% as Much of an Asshole
It’s night when you finally arrive on the island of Melemele, which suits you both just fine. After so long in the dark and gloom of the Ultra Beasts’s domains, the daylight of this world is like a sawblade to the eyes. While you have every intention of fulfilling your promise of delivering your companion back to his team, it quickly becomes apparent that neither of you are in any condition to do so. You’ve both been away from this world for weeks and you need to readjust, to light, to noise, to being in a world with people in it. Guzma is faring much worse than you in that regard. Even the minimal amount of human contact he had to endure on the voyage left him overwhelmed and glassy-eyed. You have no idea how long he had been in those dark, smothering caves prior to your arrival; you never asked.

Fuck I need some kind of dopamine rush
Like… I’m starting to realize that gaming how I gamed wasn’t exactly fulfilling that niche it was just busy time that my brain didn’t need to do stuff or think. But like what I’m having trouble thinking of is what did I enjoy?
Like did I enjoy spending time with you or was that me just seeking a dopamine rush from company. Your words on that fucked me up in hindsight even though I’m sure that my feelings for you are a completely separate category.
Did I enjoy sex? I mean for fucks sake we spend lord knows how many hours having sex and I don’t even care for that as much as you do. Shit dude my brain couldn’t even focus during it!
So what did I enjoy what do I enjoy????
Do I enjoy trying to play music? Then why haven’t I tried learning a new song in a while????
Do I enjoy listening to music??? Then why haven’t I gone off the deep end in exploring that like I used to before I was with you???? What do I enjoyyyyy?
Do I enjoy eating food as much as I said I do? Did I enjoy eating your cooking as much as I said I did?
What did I enjoy? I think I did. But what can I enjoy now? Am I in need of constant company? …I don’t think I am…. Do I need constant attention? Do I need to have you looking at me so I don’t either away — did I enjoy your compliments even if there’s the off chance they were not 100% sincere? What do I want from life?
If I try to imagine this does anything come to mind now. Let’s say I imagine myself with someone else who has shown interest in my existence… is it working is there something feasible in my brain?
Do I connect with people on an emotional level anymore? Or am I an open book that is now unable to actually feel intimacy? I have so many questions. Therapy can’t answer them unfortunately for me! My brain tries to trick me sometimes now so I don’t listen to that.
I know I’m being my genuine self but why don’t I feel that connection to anyone anymore? Did I really have it due because of the actions you took? This is super confusing stuff to me. I feel like a foreign being in a familiar shell. A literal hermit crab who has transferred their life into something g strange yet familiar but can’t quite make it feel right.
I’m not putting a barrier around my heart like I used it because what for. I will get hurt anyway, I let you in. I put you at a distance. The result was the same. I have so many questions for myself but I can’t answer them. I can’t sleep.
I’m not feeling down about it!!! I just want to know. I want to know what I want to get out of this life, I don’t even know if I know how to do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I were to have ever spoken to this about you I would’ve actually yelled for one of the few times in my life, I would’ve actually screamed this so loudly that it would have terrified you. Because I only knew that I wanted to be together, I wanted to potentially marry you on whatever way you felt comfortable. And I wanted to afford a house even if you were just stay-at-home or working from home. I can say undeniably that was my plan and desire but what else other than that?
It’s bugged me because I did all this schooling — all this living. All this struggling…. To not really know what else I want. It doesn’t make me sad but it definitely makes me go “aw shit dude what the fuck”
Maybe it’s my life’s purpose to find that out, maybe I’ll find something I feel even remotely as passionate about as I was passionate for you Lindsey, who the fuck knows? I certainly don’t know shit and I accept that!
I only know that I’ve spent so long avoiding things and avoiding the topics in front of me because of being biologically predisposed to all of this bad times with mental health that functioning like a normal person is definitely not in my bag of tricks — the appearance of it though? Heck yeah I can pull THAT off at least. Enough to get by.
This rant was everywhere and it went nowhere at the same time. I’m back at the start, but at least it’s a new course compared to the last few decades. At least there’s one thing that’s different and that’s my comfort with me and what I lack — but more importantly. What I have. I have things that make me into that person you said I was but most importantly I believe I am that because I have proven it to MYSELF.
Alright I need to shut myself up now see ya

Heaven Sent : Chapter 10 | Honking Hotties
Trigger Warning | Sexual Situations, Gore, Abuse, Foul Language.
The smell was familiar, cigarette smoke, musty, cheap cologne, cheap perfume, and possibly moldy. It was accompanied by the feeling of bass that shook the floor beneath me, as I tried to feel what I was laying on my hand touched something sticky and I recoiled.
Opening my eyes slowly I saw a very outdated back office – something that came from the fifties, wood paneling on every wall and disgusting cream speckled ceiling tiles.
"Bo-Peep?" I turned my head, standing in the doorway was Ralph. "Oh thank hell; you were out for so long that I thought you bit the bullet."
"Ralph? But how-?"
It all started coming back to me in a flash of scenes, Brad, my souls gone, and my house burned to the ground.
I had nowhere left to live.
"I was on my way to work, you know I'm always punctual, anyways- I saw some jackass beating the shit out of another jackass (no offense), so I broke that shit up because it gives the downtown a bad reputation!" I slowly started to sit up, that's when I realized Ralph was kind enough to lay me on the floor next to a puddle of who-knows-what. "Then I realized the jackass that was getting bludgeoned to death wasn't a jackass at all- it was you!"
"Thank you..."
"This new job must come with a lot of risks if you're getting the shit beat out of you like that."
"No... He's my ex-boyfriend from before the rapture, he was just robbing me."
"Robbing you to an early grave- more like." Ralph stepped away from the doorframe and came back moments later with the ever-coveted bar food.
Nachos dripping with bright yellow fake cheese, corndogs cooked to golden brown (in a microwave), and a large water – with ice.
"I don't have any souls, Ralph, I can't afford-."
"We'll call it an I- Owe-You."
"I can't make any contracts while I'm working at Hellfire and Brimstone either-."
"It's a friendly fucking gesture, just eat the damn food and shut up." He shoved it all onto my lap, I blinked in response- I couldn't eat all this, not anymore.
I took tentative bites of everything till I had successfully eaten the top layer of nachos and one whole corndog- the water was my only success story since I finished two of those.
"Thank you for this, I'll come back after my next paycheck and cover everything."
"That'll be a visit with much better circumstances."
I nodded, "I don't know how I'm going to explain this to my boss... Oh shit!" I started to pull myself off the ground but winced when I realized my leg was still not healed.
"Yeah, I fixed your face up a little bit – but the high ranking demons and angels are the ones who can complete the healing process. In my case you're going to be left with a couple scrapes and bruises... Not to mention a broken leg."
"I need to use a phone or something, I need to call my boss and tell him I can't be at dinner tonight."
Ralph gave me a sly grin, "Your boss, huh?"
I refused to meet his gaze, "Yes, I don't want him to think I stood him up."
"Do you know his mobile number off hand?" He swung around behind his desk and picked up the landline.
"No..."
Ralph gave an annoyed sigh, "Do you know the office number?"
"Also no..."
"Holy shit..." He started typing onto his computer and scrolled a bit before finally dialing something, he rolled his chair around the desk and handed me the phone.
It rang a few times before someone picked up, "Hellfire and Brimstone – make a deal with the devil you know."
"Tristen?"
"Bonnie? Why are you calling so late?"
"Why are you working so late?"
He didn't respond, instead I heard muffled voices and shuffling before someone else answered. "Where the hell have you been?"
"Crowley?"
"I'm giving Tristen some... much needed overtime."
"But we're not supposed to get overtime?"
"Never mind, where have you been? The boss said your house was on fire?"
"It's a long story... I'm at Honking Hotties right now; Ralph is helping me with my ... Um... Leg."
"What happened to your leg?"
"It's not really important..."
"The fuck it isn't!"
"Can I talk to Lucifer, is he there?" Ralph suddenly shot upright in his seat at the mention of the devil.
"He is driving around town looking for you; I can call him and send him to ... Honking Hotties...? Is that what you said?"
"Yes, it's a big tacky teal building."
"I beg your fucking pardon!" Ralph snapped.
"I'll give him a call, don't move from that spot- do you hear me? I've been working on you two for weeks now; do you know how hard it is to set someone up with the devil?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for any of this to happen..."
There was a sigh on the other line, "I know, I know, just stay there and be safe for fuck's sake."
Ralph was tapping his foot in his swivel chair with his cheek resting on his chin. "You failed to mention your boss was literally the king of hell."
"I didn't think it was relevant."
He threw his arms up in the air, "How is that not relevant? I need to get this place cleaned up if literally Satan is on his way here."
"I'm sure he won't mind, if you've ever met him he's actually very understanding."
"Are we talking about the same person?" I cocked my head to the side, not very sure what he meant? Lucifer has always been quite giving- even after Brad's meeting he seemed more annoyed than actually upset.
"Ralph..." A waitress I had never seen before – no doubt my replacement- was standing at his office door. "There is someone here asking for Bonnie?"
"Shit, the devil is fast." Ralph stood up and straightened his brown leather jacket, he helped me to my ... foot I suppose... and walked me to the main floor.
The place didn't change much; I even noticed that some of the familiar floor stains had actually grown over time. The soundtrack didn't change either, still pop music from the early 2000's, even Ruby Rolls Royce was there- twirling around the pole and crawling her way to the patron seated at the front of the stage.
I tried to shield myself behind Ralph but I think it was too late, Michael had already spotted me.
