Today I sketched this orc using traditional pencil on paper, then colored it in Procreate (a.k.a. the cheating cousin of traditional media...).

I’ve been bouncing between so many different things lately. Honestly, I’m starting to think it’s just procrastination. I know exactly what I should be working on, but I keep finding reasons to try something new instead—oils, acrylics, Procreate... Come on, man. Just go back to your watercolors and do what you know best already.

Here’s a commission I did for my best friend to have on her desk at work.

The context is that my best friend is a stagehand (union strong!) and people keep bringing in donuts. Trying to be health conscious, she wanted a “motivational sign” but she didn’t want normie bullshit, she wanted orcs declaring a Waaagh against cheap pastries! Or at least a sign to tap if she was feeling passive aggressive.

Here's what the orcs in my urban fantasy setting look like. I wanted them to still be something that reads as an orc, but also not fall into the trap of making them too goofy or animalistic. I decided to base them off of large felines instead of pigs, because I feel like that fits a warroir people somewhat better. (They're also not inherently more warlike then other species, but due to them being physically stronger then any other sentient species, and the world being a capitalist dystopia, a lot of orcs rely on mercenary work or organized crime for social advancement.)
