It honestly drives me nuts when people call the gods “lord” or “lady.”
Like, I get that in order to be formal, you have to pretend that you are separate from Them, but what makes you think that that is true?
There is a level of power dynamic associated with using “lord” or “lady” that just doesn’t do it for me.
The definition of “lord” according to Wikipedia says:
“Lord is an appellation for a person or deity who has authority, control, or power over others, acting as a master, chief, or ruler.”
I don’t understand why you have to have a relationship with a Deity if you believe Them to be a ruler or you are subjugated beneath Them. Because if you were to have a balanced relationship with Them, you’d know that you were never going to get anything out of it if you are always a step below Them. They would get everything and you’d be left with nothing.
If you’re afraid to move either way or be dependent on Them that They could snuff you out in a moment’s notice or tell you what to do, that puts you in a very unique position of being manipulated or controlled - not just by Them but by anyone who claims to have some unique authority by the Gods.
You can recognize the power and authority of the Gods without having the title of “ruler” or “master.” That just irks me beyond belief.
When I started about 7 years ago, I never saw anything like that being used with Deity’s names until Witchtok started it and then it became popular on here. So to be clear for all you new polytheists out there, this is not an old practice or appellation for a Deity within polytheism. At least not in regards to any pantheon outside of Christianity and perhaps Hinduism.
Respect for a Deity comes with work on Their side just as much as it is work for the devotee - having a name such as “lord” or “lady” applied when They’ve done nothing to deserve that title is a bit pretentious and the connotation of subjugation that comes with it is exactly the kind of problems that polytheism deals with regularly.
The Divine should earn your respect before They receive a title and your relationship should grow and develop outside of the master/servant mindset people seem to have constantly online.

Let yourself be cringe in your worship!!!
The Gods don’t find you embarrassing. The Gods don’t care about seeming cool and professional for the approval of others.
Make that fucking aesthetic photo collage for Aphrodite with cute pics you found on Pinterest .
Dress up like Hermes and go for a damn walk.
Collect random stones you think are cool and put them on your altar.
Put that photo of that cartoon character that reminds you of your deity on your altar.
Make that Minecraft temple to Hekate, domesticate those damn Minecraft wolves for Cerberus.
Make your deities in the sims!
Write soppy melodramatic poetry for Dionysus that no one else will read.
Make self insert fanfics about your favourite Gods and write them all as your best friends. Let them interact with your edgy ocs.
Create an AU where you and your Gods are all characters from your favourite anime.
Record silly little songs for them
Make them paintings that are full of clashing colors and weird forms.
Draw them a fursona
Wear that bright yellow outfit for Apollon.
Put on a dramatic makeup look for Aphrodite.
Call your closest deity that silly little nickname you have for them and let them call you one too.
Share your special interests with your Gods. Design your God as a pokémon or a crystal gem, or a sonic character.
Those losers that try to make you feel bad for being passionate will never have what you have.
In the words of the Great Lord Hermes: “Every human I have ever liked was at least a little bit cringe”
BE CRINGE. BE PROUD. THE GODS LOVE YOU.

I've been working on my self care and health lately as a way of deity worship for Lucifer and Apollo (also as a way to integrate self love and self worship!) and I've actually started to feel a little better? I've been staying hydrated, getting enough sleep (for the most part), remembering to take my meds, taking myself for small walks when I have the energy for it, and focusing on hygiene (even if it's just taking a quick bath or brushing my teeth). I've been feeling a lot better and I know my gods are proud of me (and I'm proud of myself, too!) 🥰

before you ask "are the gods mad at me?" THINK:
have you...
1. killed or maimed someone
2. killed or maimed an animal for purposes other than consuming/processing it
3. knowingly and purposefully hurled vile obscenities or insults at any god or gods
4. made it a life goal to be a terrible person
5. been a terf
IF YOU SAID NO TO ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS then girl you're fine go have a dr. pepper

I’ve not been a Christian in over 10 years and this season is the first season in which Easter was not even a blip on my radar. My parents cannot guilt me to attend their holiday. I didn’t even know it was happening.
This is what healing feels like.
