#pairing study
Text
Another study, but this one is pairing study rated M that I needed to do for Hide and Seek, written with @delphic-warrior00. I had to check some things with myself, so here it is.
Fandom: Generator Rex
Warnings: Smut.
Rated: M
Summary:
Six had never claimed someone as his property before in his entire life. As the woman slept beside him, he couldn't help but stare at the mark that now adorned her skin.
Before, it wouldn't have mattered, but now he considered himself a fair man. If he could leave a reminder on her body, she should have the chance to brand him, just as he had branded her.
Pairing: Rebecca Holiday/Agent Six.
Words: 600

DP X DC PROMPT #27
(Time for something a little more lighthearted/found family. Could probably also make this a crack prompt instead.)
(#) = Notes at the end of post
(*) = Just me building off of other ideas.
Visitation Rights
When Danny went to list Dani/Ellie as his heir after she'd come back from her years of traveling the world, he was quickly informed that he already had one in line for the thrown.
"What? Since when?!"
The pretentious, floating eyeball looked like he wanted to be anywhere else other than here, providing information to King Phantom, but explained anyway.
"The day you officially achieved royal status, you permanently linked your being to the Infinite Realms. When this happened, however, a child was in the process of being created with the assistance of ectoplasmic runoff that's been leaking into the mortal world for centuries. As a result of your power being incorporated into the Realms at such a time, this human child retained an imprint of your core signature. The Infinite Realms itself has recognized this child as your offspring. Your... other offspring has yet to be recognized in such a way and would therefore be considered your second heir once claimed."
Danny stared at the Observant with wide, blank eyes that were slowly filling with dread and panic.
"Why are you just telling me this now?? My coronation was over a decade ago!" He held his face in his hands and gave a horrified groan at what he just learned.
"If you really wanted that clone as your heir, I'm afraid it's too late to change it-"
Danny's head shot back up with a snarl and furious green eyes.
"That's not what I'm upset about you walking cataracts! Eleven years! I've missed eleven years of this kid's life!! How could you think I-"
At a loss for words, he growled deep in his chest. Deep enough that it echoed throughout the halls and rattled the floors.
"Who is this kid, and where can I find them?"
Once given the information and learning of the child's other parental figures, he gets to work. A few weeks later, he appears in the home office of a well-known billionaire with a stack of papers that he promptly slams onto the desk in front of the startled man. (1)
"I demand visitation rights to our son, Damian Wayne."
(1) Danny actually visited Talia first to get visitation rights. Needless to say, that didn't go very well. He's still got a couple knives floating around in his chest cavity because of it.
(*) ALSO! I'm not sure how this lines up with the DC/Batman timeline. All I figured out is that if Danny waited to be crowned until after he graduated college as an astrophysicist, which take 5 to 7 years, he'd be about 36 years old when he finds out about Damian. Bruce would be about 41, so the age gap is only 5 years. If y'all wanna make this Danny/Bruce, go ahead!

A Master Study featuring Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. In which Link hangs out with the two Zeldas post-game (Who do you think became the Queen of Hyrule?)
This was a difficult piece, but I'm happy with it!
Based on 'The Chess Players' by Jacques-Clément Wagrez (1902)
Tumblr media
Information on inspiration and process under the cut!
Original piece: "The Chess Players" by Jacques-Clément Wagrez (1846-1908).
Tumblr media
The moment I saw this artwork I immediately thought of Zelda II. One of the women is wearing a medieval-esque red velvet dress, and she looks a lot like the design I made for the cursed princess Zelda!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I thought it would be very fitting to reimagine this artwork in a Zelda II context, so I went ahead with it! doubles as a master study and LoZ fanart.
I learnt a LOT from making this piece! Since I worked on it digitally, I got and made brushes that acted as close to traditional brushes, and I also worked on the entire piece in one layer. So whenever I made a mistake, I'd have to paint over. No return. But it was a big learning experience! Learnt more about rendering silk and velvet by observing how they are painted and blended in the original.
Here are some WIP shots! It took a long time to get to where it is now xD It was difficult to finally pen down the right proportions and placement. I probably should've done a grid copy, but I opted to just eyeing it out all the way through. It was... hard. (lesson learnt?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I read that in a lot of older pieces, they are made in greyscale, then flat colours are overlaid on top. makes rendering much easier. and it truly has! I probably should’ve rendered the greyscale version even more. Since there were still a lot of mistakes that I had to rework and adjust while colouring.
Very fruitful experience overall, and I’m just happy to make a grand-scale Zelda II artwork xD I’ve never seen one so I made it!!!

Out of every single relationship in the Whoniverse, whatever the Doctor and the Master have going on just hits different. Like a rock. I’m sure everyone feels this way about their fave Doctor ship, but my experience is that once you go Thoschei, you cannot go back. Given the narrative symmetry, character foiling, interwoven parallels, tragically dramatic irony, frustratingly unspeakable ambiguous romance that defies traditional ship canonization in the true chaotic spirit of Doctor Who, and a unique backstory setup that allows the characters to have history that other individuals cannot match, while fate (and the format of the show) pushes them together over and over again indefinitely, without hope of lasting reconnection lest the setup break, the Doctor and Master’s codependent anti-soulmate life or death partnership arguably (narratively) cheapens every other pairing beyond comparison. Their tragedy never leaves you. (And keeps you up at night)

lan wangji and lan sizhui's relationship isn't discussed enough!
a-yuan was the reason lan wangji lived and i will stand by it as long as i have to.
i'm not talking about living in a physical sense. he would've done so being the light bearer he is, but the peerless hanguang-jun lost his light the second he knew wei wuxian breathed his last.
hanguang-jun was just that, a light bearer, not the source of it. he was the moon that depended on the sun to provide it to the people, but he already lost his sun.
he probably would've gotten sucked into the black hole that was left behind after his star died that he did not realize there was another sun right beside it until he heard the faint cries of a child.
a-yuan. (he was the sun that the last of qishan wen couldn't even hope to be.)
it's the ways in which lan wangji and sizhui's interactions are so subtly domestic that melts my heart completely.
the relationship they share that of a guardian-ward, of a father-son.
the way sizhui (along with jingyi and a few other lan juniors) scream 'hanguang-jun!' and are able to smile while being held hostage really says a lot about both the trust they have in him and how safe they feel around him.
sizhui saying that feels as if he has nothing to fear or worry about, so long as lan wangji or wei wuxian were around. the bone deep trust that he has that he will be safe if he's around either of them even if he was in the middle of a literal death trap had me pause for a few seconds to let myself bawl out.
it's in the way sizhui so willingly and so enthusiastically interacts with lan wangji while everyone around him (except a few of the lan juniors) are scared witless to even breathe the same air as him. even the lan juniors don't seem to have the ease that sizhui has. (okay, this may probably be me over reading into it, but i really did feel that way while reading.)
and, my favorite interaction, sizhui encountering that lan wangji buried a-yuan in a pile of rabbits will never ever make me stop smiling like an idiot.
they have one of the healthiest parent-child relationship i've seen and i so, so long for it.
it's as surprising as it is devastating how less they're talked about. a crime really.

Sometimes I think that I'm the only person who enjoys one-sided ships more than both-sided ones.
I don't know if it has something to do with me being aro but ✨THE DRAMA✨ of not reciprocated feelings is just too good!
One character risking their own life or even others' life knowing that their crush will never love them back is such a tragic trope.
Even better when the other person is as much devoted and willing to risk it all but rather in a queerplatonic than in a romantic way.
Of course some pairings are just too much both-sided in canon or at least inplied from both sides (like Satosugu, cuz you can't convince me that they both weren't head over heels for each other) but still there is a bunch of ships that even fit the narrative better as one-sided, like Gerita, Shiguang, Itafushi, Soukoku, Vanoe, Burakhovsky or Eruri. Which doesn't mean that they aren't enjoyable as fully reciprocated romantic love!
Ofc it's just my opinion, please don't kill me!

You know, I think my favorite thing about Gale's whole "watching you in battle makes me horny" scene is like. He's not wrong. A brush with danger does in fact increase one's desire for "other forms of stimulation". Studies have shown that being in situations that cause a rush of adrenaline, be that going on a roller coaster, seeing a scary movie, walking across a swinging suspension bridge, or something else, increase feelings of attraction. It's literally a Known Thing that adventurous stuff is great to do on a date because it will most likely make you more into each other.
Idk, I just love that his come-on is not only extremely nerdy, but also scientifically accurate. Feels correct and I'm glad they did it lol

Thinking about what would happen if Fig had to take a rage token. Thinking about the relationship she shatters being with her mother. A relationship that is improving, sure, but will always be slightly rocky. The betrayal will always be there, the years of lies. Maybe Fig's identity issues get worse and she turns against the only person she can blame for them. The liar, the adulterer, the reason her identity came into flux in the first place.
It's easy to get into arguments with her mother, after all, she's very easy to rile up. No matter how much she works on it, her response will always be fight. She'll always rise to a challenge, even if it's one set by her own daughter

Khoa never thought he’d have another son. There were apprentices, of course, with distance between student and master, but never anyone he’d allow to see his true face, not even in a game, not even in a test to see if they recognized him without his mask.
Billy can recognize him no matter the mask.
Is it so strange? It can’t be. People all over the world since time immemorial have seen themselves in their children. His parents did, with every step he took. Of all the parents he knows – good and bad – they find themselves in the younger generation, and that’s meaningful to them. Not a kind of love he’s ever pursued. Even finding the good within the obligation took so much work that it still doesn’t seem to fit, when he wants to help the boy.
He's known that Captain Marvel wasn’t real. Anyone can see that from the too smooth complexion, the jerkiness of movement like animation pulling him into the uncanny valley. Like Superman he’s a public hero, and like most public heroes he puts on a performance to dazzle and reassure. Khoa, like Bruce, prefers to stick to the shadows, and it all could’ve ended there, neatly, one job together and ways parted like closing a file.
But Khoa’s had much longer than Billy to recognize people regardless of their mask. He was good before the training and he knew the necessity of it, but Billy. Billy hasn’t had the training, just that same childhood knack.
Billy has the same furrowed brow that smooths into an easy smile, cherubic cheeks gleaming to convince the adults around him that he knows his way. The gentle voice that reassures people he won’t be a bother. He helps his fellow students with their homework and their hobbies; he guides his siblings in how to make a sandwich with the last of the peanut butter. Ever helpful, so he doesn’t stand out. So they won’t kick him out.
He’s like Khoa when he was small, knowing something was missing deep inside of him, turning and turning to catch it, a dog chasing his own tail. So he acted, and he befriended everyone he could, because if they liked him well enough they’d never turn on him. Billy’s been turned on, once or twice. Khoa can see it in the way the smile doesn’t always reach his eyes. In the way his hands dart in and out before anyone can see.
It’s no wonder he can put on a whole different self and charm the world when he’s learned at the feet of public schools how to look his best. How else would he learn, if not through trial and error? Khoa could see that, in the adult, but it’s different, looking at a child. Someone who still has years to go before he stops needing people completely. Someone who could benefit from having a teacher willing to be gentle about imparting lessons.
It’s different, looking at this too-friendly boy and the shadows in his eyes that haven’t yet faded with age.
