"Yeah, my panties," You reach for the pink underwear James is dangling from his finger, but he yanks them away, "Hey!"

"Nasty girl, leaving your undies out," Sirius goads, despite being reclined on your pile of frilly pillows on your bed, "This is a communal space, darling."

"No it's not!" You laugh incredulously, "You're all supposed to take the guest room next door!"

"That's not happening," Remus snickers, settling into the armchair you have nestled snugly beside your bookcase, "You really think you can get rid of us, dove? Sirius'll chain himself to the bedposts. And James doesn't need chains, he'll just hug your thigh and not let go."

"And what about you, Remus?" You slide off of your bed, panties long forgotten as you climb carefully into his lap. It's a bit of a maneuver due to the armrests of your reading chair but he wraps his arms around your back, craning his neck up to brush his nose against your own with a lazy grin.

"M'gonna plant my arse right here in this chair," He decides, squeezing your sides when you giggle at his declaration, "Face it, dove, you're stuck with us."

Adding a third into their relationship was never something remus and sirius had ever considered until they met you. 

You with your sweet laugh and loving nature that neither of them could get enough of. 

Their infatuation with you came increasingly obvious to each other one night after a party. James had gone to crash in lily’s dorm and peter was god knows where, leaving the three of you in the boys dorm lounging around on remus’ bed passing cigarettes between you. 

You were laid between the two of them with your head against remus’ pillow and a sleepy look on your face. It wasn’t long before you fell asleep mid sentence with your head lolling to the side and resting on sirius’ shoulder. 

Without really thinking twice about it, sirius pressed a short kiss onto the top of your head and then rested his own on top of yours, content to just lay there. 

On the other side of you remus rested his head down on your shoulder and looked over at his boyfriend with a soft and content smile on his lips. It was only after that night that they started discussing you. 

it started as one of the more awkward conversations of their relationship, but after they both agreed that they loved you as much as they loved one another it was a simple decision. 

They just had to ask you about it. 

They caught you on your way out of your final class of the day, asking if you fancied going for a walk with them. 

Who were you to say no to a nice warm afternoon walk with two of your best friends ?

It had never bothered you being a third wheel to remus and sirius. They were two of your closest friends even before they got together and there was no reason that had to change after they got together in any of your eyes. 

“ so, how’re you doing? Haven’t seen you in a couple of days “ remus asked as the three of you walked out into the golden glow of a summer afternoon. 

“ i know, i’ve been busy studying for the test i just had so now i’m free as a bird “ 

The last couple of days you had been holed up in your dorm or the library any chance you got, studying for your exam and you were glad you had been on you definitely wouldn’t have been able to do as much of that exam as confidently as you did. 

“ besides, i can always make time for my boys, and you know where to find me “ a smile spread across your lips as you looked between the two boys. There was no way in hell that you could ever say no to seeing remus and sirius. 

If you were studying then they knew when to leave you be and let you get back to your textbooks and it was nice to have friends who werent selfish enough to distract you for hours. 

Hearing you call them ‘ your boys ‘ reminded them why they had asked you out here. They shared a look above your head before either of them decided to speak up. 

They had unintentionally led you towards the practically empty courtyard. 

Sirius was the first one to talk

“ we actually want to talk to you about something, sweetheart… “ 

Your mind immediately filled with the worst.

They don't want to be my friend anymore

They want me to back away and give them some space in their relationship

They were leaving school. 

Remus could see your mind swimming so he took your hand and led you to sit on one of the benches in the courtyard, his hand not leaving yours even after you sat down. “ it’s nothing bad, lovely. We just want to ask you something. “

The both of them sat down on either side of you on the moss covered stone bench. 

You let a soft and slightly shaky breath fall from your lips.  

“ okay, what’s up ?”

They locked eyes over you again as if talking to each other without words. 

“ you know how much we care about you, right? “ 

Remus waited for you to respond before he continued.  

“ yeah, i know. I care about both of you, too “ your voice was a little quieter than usual and that simple factor caused sirius to lift his hand and rest on your forearm. 

“ well, over the last couple of weeks, me and pads both realised that we have more than just friendly feelings for you “

It was like all the air had been sucked from your lungs. Before you could really take stock of your feelings towards what they said, he continued. 

“ and we were wondering how you’d feel about the three of us trying out a relationship...” 

The world had actually stopped spinning. This wasnt something you had ever thought of, dating two people, let alone your two closest friends. 

“ you don’t have to give us an answer straight away, and there is no pressure whatsoever to say yes. If you’re not comfortable we can just forget this ever happened..”

It was like those words from sirius jump started your body and you suddenly felt a little claustrophobic even in the vast open space that was the courtyard. 

Letting go of remus’ hand, you stood from the bench and took a couple of steps away from the two of them to try and actually be able to breathe. 

“ dove, you okay ?” remus questioned, concern laced through his tone. 

It took a few moments before you replied. 

“ yeah, i’m okay..i just- i dont know what to do right now…” 

“ that’s completely okay, sweetheart. You don’t have to do anything, you can just leave and have a think about it if that’s what you want.” 

Sirius’ words seemed to settle you a little. 

“ yeah, okay. I think thats what i need to do… i’m so sorry..”

Without even saying anything they both stood up and made their way towards you, sirius lifting his hand to brush some hair away from your eyes. 

“ don’t apologise. Go and have a think, take as long as you need. We’ll be here when you have an answer, no matter what that answer is “ 

You nodded simply, your eyes switching between the two of them. 

“ thank you..” that was the last thing you said before you left the two of them in the courtyard, your mind going a mile a minute. 

Your best friends both liked you and wanted you to join their relationship. a relationship that had been going on for two and a half years. 

A relationship all of your friends strived to have. 

A relationship a part of you wanted to be a part of.

Even if they aren't officially polyam and they definitely have their own 'main' partners, they all have relationships with eachother ranging from queerplatonic to pseudoromantic. James peers down at the sticky note that had been shoved into the lockbox on the garage door of the cabin you're renting for the weekend, instructions from the owner on how to get inside.

"She says the code is 6, 9, 6, 9, pound," James reads, pausing to snicker before he finishes his sentence, "And she'd prefer if we came in the back door."

Sirius lets out his familiar bark of laughter, mumbling, "That's what she said."

"She's a woman that knows what she wants," James's face is glowing with a perpetual grin, his skin rosy from the cold. Even Remus chuckles from where he's standing behind you with your bags, and you're not sure why they all seem to be so delighted by the homeowner's request.

"It's probably 'cause her bush blocks the front entrance," You muse, pointing at some roses that have grown over the pathway to the front door, but are far too beautiful to contain, "I wouldn't want to trim it either."

Somehow, you've missed the mark.

Their eyes brighten with even more of the amusement that's typically shining in them, and their chests convulse as they try biting their tongues to stop from laughing.

"What?" Your brow furrows slightly, "Why's that funny?"

"It's not," Remus clears his throat, but he's lying, and you know he is because his mouth is twisted into a poorly-concealed smirk, "I think you're right, darling. It's the bush."

"S'always the bush," Sirius chimes in, grin far too wolfish to be talking of roses, "I mean, y'forget to garden for a week, and bam, it's out of control."

"Alright," Remus chides lightly, though he's still tight in the chest as he tries not to laugh, "Might I remind you that you haven't trimmed in a month? It's almost as long as the hair on your head."

"It clogs up the shower drain, mate," James concedes regretfully, "I can't back you up on this one."

Your brain is swirling with scattered concepts, your train of thought rapidly switching between tracks. Roses, bush, hair, trimming, gardening, showering, you feel like you've dropped two crates of words and now you need to sort them back into their original piles again. Surely roses goes with gardening and bush, but what have they got to do with showering?

"Whatever," Sirius scoffs good-naturedly, slinging his bag over his shoulder and punching the code into the door. He presses the final key, mumbling pound as he does so, then holds it open for you, "C'mon darling, inside, let's go to pound town."

My fave marauders ships and dynamics as a multi-shipper !! Ok so, there are certain ships I like to imagine as canon in the canon universe, and there are other ships that I prefer in aus and such but still ship them so much!! So I thought I’d just ramble abt them here lol.

My fave ships that are canon/I think I should be endgame:

First off, Jily ofc. My loves. I’m generally not super excited abt str8 couples but they’re just too cute. My fave dynamic with them is that they’re academic rivals — well at least lily thinks they are, James is just hopelessly in love with her and enjoys competition lol. Lily thinks he’s an idiot, immature and a bit of a bully at first but slowly warms up to him as she sees his kind-heartedness and stance on justice. Plus, she’s always found him a little hot :)

Wolfstar, duh. I don’t think I have to go into detail coz I already do so much on my blog lol.

Dorlene — aaah I love my tragic, angsty lil lesbians. Sucker for the quidditch-rivals-to-lovers trope. Ooh and i headcanon Dorcas as transfem. But yeah if you’ve read ‘the hands that feeds’ by rollercoasterwords that’s basically how I see their dynamic.

Fralice — cuties and did not deserve the ending they got ;((

Rosekiller — ok, ok. I know I’ve ranted abt how I don’t like the fanonization of their characters in fandom,, but I will admit I do like them together. Especially when they’re depicted as the awful people they are lol. I like to think that they’re still hooking up in GoF on nights where barty’s poly juice wears off lmaoo. Also random but I hc Barty to be in ravenclaw.

Pandora x Xenophillius (idk how to spell his name) — I like to imagine Pandora as a goth who runs an underground magical weed business and Xeno as a hippie weirdo and conspiracy theorist. Both are bi/pan tho and have def hooked up with ppl of the same gender before.

Andromeda x Ted Tonks — iconic. Love them. Andy was the og rebellious black family child.

Emmary — love, love this ship. For context, I picture Emmaline as a little older than Mary (maybe 2 or 3 years) and they meet when Em’s at the order. Mary’s a bisexual girlie who’s predominantly been with men at this point, and Em’s a big Butch lesbian who loves Mary so much but isn’t sure if Mary likes her back, at first. Ofc they end up together after the first war but when Em wants to join the second war, Mary oblivates herself and retreats to the muggle world entirely because she cannot bear more pain.

My fave ships that I like to think are semi-canon, as in their unrequited, or right person wrong time, or both have feelings that the other doesn’t know — they just don’t workout for some reason:

First off, Marylene — my absolute fave, right person, wrong time ship. Love the whole, ‘Marlene loved her too early, Mary loved her too late idea’. I’m a sucker for best friends to lovers ahhh. I imagine that Marls had crush on Mary since they were eleven and came out to her later, and although Mary was supportive she didn’t like her back at that point. Then Marls got with Dorcas and maybe Mary got a tad bit jealous. And then Marlene was killed ofc so Mary moved on and went with Emmaline, but she never really stopped loving Marlene.

Nobleflower — bi narcissa and Alice rights!! I like to think that they had a bit of a homoerotic friendship back in their hogwarts years, but the fact that they were on opposite sides eventually pulled them apart. And so Alice gets with Frank and Narcissa with Malfoy. Aaah so tragic I love them

Lily x Remus — I like to think Lily had a little crush on Remus when they were younger but she got over it and they became besties !!

Bellatrix / Lady Zabini — Toxic murder comphet lesbians!! Tho I imagine they ‘broke up’ their fling coz Bellatrix was murdering with pure blood fascism in mind,,, and lady Zabini was just like,, why can’t we just kill ppl for the sake of killing them?? 🥺🥺

Jegulus — ok so I don’t like jegulus as a canon(ish) ship, buuut I love me some unrequited jegulus, specifically from Regulus’ side coz sorry I just personally don’t see James ever liking Reg in canon. I imagine Reg goes into hogwarts wanting to hate the guy who stole his brother but ends up falling for him just the same. He has internalised homophobia and hates the fact that he’s gay, esp for someone like James lol.

Bartylus — My hc is that neither of them liked each other romantically, but they settled and got off each other to pass time. It’s transactional, at least it’s starts off being..maybe barty’s a little more into it than reg thinks they are.

Peter/Bertha Jorkins — I like to imagine they dated for awhile during hogwarts — until Bertha got bored of him and dumped him. Peter never really got over it and was still bitter.

Peter/Sybil — oooh I remember this one was trending on marauders tik tok awhile back but I’m still not over it. Happens after Bertha/Peter. Sybil breaks up with Peter maybe coz she gets a prophecy that he becomes evil. Peter is confused and heartbroken.

Snily — ok hear me out!! I don’t care for their portrayals in a lot of fics coz I think the pro / anti Snape bias is always there — but I would be open to exploring the complexity of their dynamic in a fic when snapes actions aren’t justified or excused, but he’s not portrayed as a one dimensional bad guy. Jegulus — requited this time!! If it’s an au and James is not reduced to a generic sunshine people pleasing character, then they’re a little cute I’ll admit. Not the biggest fan of the 'best friend's brother' trope but the drama is entertaining at least.

Mary/Dorcas — I don’t think they’re a very popular on here but I personally like it. In a way they’re opposites but they’re motivations are a lot more similar than they realise.

Pandalily — so, so cute. Fanart is spectacular

marauder parents hcs:

mostly for my own continuity fanfic writing reasons

remus- hope and lyall; very in love, they're an adventuring turned sitting on the sofa with a cuppa couple. they both sell things at the village market, and help out neighbouring farms. hope died in early 80s and lyall spends the rest of his life mourning her and his son

james- euphemia and fleamont; literally besotted with each other, best friends turned lovers but it was fleamont crushing heavy on euphemia whilst euphemia was in a highschool romance with minerva. died in each other's arms <3

sirius & regulus- orion and walburga; arranged marriage, knew each other since they were babies (being cousins and all). didn't particularly get on, they just tolerated each other and both had numerous affairs

peter- lydia and cora (mum and dad divorced and his dad legally isn't allowed to see him); lydia was a teen mum to peter and later realised she was a lesbian, got with cora whilst peter was a teenager and cora became his unofficial mum-in-law.

dorcas- bob (mum isn't around/left when she was very young); he's bob the builder /real. is very gay. never came out to dorcas (she knew). sirius was the one who told him dorcas was dead, weeks after it happened. and after it came out in the muggle world of sirius being a huge criminal, bob blamed him for dorcas' death.

lily- jean and lee; both huge workaholics (boring office jobs) and put a lot of academic pressure on petunia and lily. *cough* lee is in love with bob *cough*. lily gets the ginger-ness from lee. they both don't know a lot about their kids life, which they regretted after lily's death.

marlene- catherine and ian; catherine is a huge bitch, we hate her. ian is just there. he's a classic sitcom dad- goes to work, reads the paper, watches tv, occasionally fixes stuff in the house and plays football with his sons. he's much closer to marlene's brothers, since catherine doesn't like marlene doing 'masculine' things. they're both middle class, wannabe perfect and traditional family people.

mary- aymee and ronnie; quite chill. ronnie works at the post office, and aymee sells homemade jewellery. they both get on more with mary than her older goth lesbian sister, sy. aymee went to hogwarts, was in hufflepuff, so is the parent to help mary out with magic related things.

emmeline- mi-sook and yeong-su; yeong-su went to hogwarts so got emmeline to live with her grandparents (in scotland) so she could go there too. as such, she's not that close to her parents. she does gets on with her mum, sending letters to each other every week and spending time together when emmeline visits. but doesn't get on with her dad, him being distant and comparing her to her younger siblings

pandora- tilly and cian; they both worked as apprentices to nicholas flamel after finishing school and met each other there. they're the lovegoods (i'm a 'xenophilius took pandora's last name' truther.) regulus' parents let him be friends with pandora in hopes her parents would get regulus a connection to the flamel's. they both dissaproved of xenophilius but agreed it was better than pandora's previous sapphic poly relationship

tech:

tech??? a flirt??? more likely than you’d think

it blindsides the boys bc like everyone else that meets the genius, they think he’ll be a shy, bumbling fool when trying to impress someone

but he ends up being a smooth motherfucker who uses some random study that says “eight hugs a day is recommended to keep the mind and body healthy” to get you to cuddle in bed longer or to stop doing something that isn’t holding your boys

”how many hugs have you today?” “um…” “unacceptable. to be safe, we’re starting the count over” you were close to eight but since you couldn’t recount them when he asked, he takes it as zero (even if he knows he was at least two of the day’s recommended hugs)

they’ll never admit it but the others are extremely grateful bc his tactic works every time

echo:

echo gets cold much easier than anyone else in the group for obvious reasons, but hates to make it known

you were quick to catch on to his shivering in the few nights he would let you sleep next to him during brief breaks & decided to do something to help: get him a heated blanket

during a brief refuel stop on coruscant, you made your way into the shopping district and bought him a 501st blue heated blanket that had considerable weight to it. not enough to smother him, but just enough to feel like he’s wrapped in a hug

the heating and ventilation system in the marauder went kaput in hyperspace which turned the ship into a flying icebox. echo was already an icicle on the best days, but this level of cold would be almost unbearable for him

the boys had commed you to let you know the situation & that they were a couple hours out

you cranked the blanket to the next highest setting and let it warm up before they got there, and made sure to have some food ready for all five of them

an echo-shaped blanket burrito was carried through your front door by wrecker, the others trailing behind the hulk of a soldier like lost tookas

wrecker knew to bring echo to your bed where you wrapped him in the new blanket, waiting until you knew it was warm before sliding all but two blankets out from underneath the heated one

before leaving him be, you smoothed out his brow with your thumb and kissed his forehead gently, careful to not wake him

when he finally woke up, he wrapped you in the biggest hug he possibly could with a smile that nearly overtook the rest of his face

wrecker:

wrecker would be the most obvious when missing you, more open with his emotions than the others (which doesn’t say much, i know)

he’ll be the one in the middle of a mission talking about how comfy your bed is and how much he misses your cooking

absolute cuddle bug. no one even comes close to his strong need to constantly have some sort of physical contact with you

he keeps an arm slung around you at nearly all times, whether it be around your shoulder or your waist he’s always wanting to hold you

if one of the others has themselves wrapped around you, he’ll resort to having a hand in your back pocket or even a couple fingers hooked into your belt loop

the grumpiest and poutiest wrecker is the one not around you

crosshair:

crosshair quickly becomes a food critic whose ratings seem quite biased toward the cook

he would praise every dish you made not just bc the rations were depressingly bland, but bc you make everything with love and the intention of taking care of your boys.

crosshair is the most likely to shoot a bitch for just a bite of your cooking (he’s most likely to shoot a bitch period but that’s beside the point)

so you started cooking in bulk and freezing it so they can have a taste of home when they’re half a galaxy away

since each one has different preferences when it comes to some ingredients (crosshair loathes corn while hunter enjoys extra), you always put their names or draw their symbols on the top so they don’t get mixed up

when you draw a crosshair for him you always put a heart in the center of it and it makes him smile every time, especially when he lifts the foil top and sees the secret note you always leave him

he’s nonchalantly checked the others’ containers and doesn’t find a note for them, and to him it makes him feel special that there’s something solely his in the universe, no matter how trivial it may seem

hunter:

speaking of the word “home”

hunter’s the first one to use it out of the four of them

he’s giving a pre-mission of what they need to do and casually says “the quicker we get this done, the quicker we get home”

crosshair calls him on it and hunter tries to say he didn’t say that but tech recorded it and he very clearly said-

there wasn’t anything wrong with hunter saying it, it just came as a shock bc the only “homes” they knew were kamino (terrible first experience) and the havoc marauder (not terrible but i hey were just alone together 24/7, they get on each other’s nerves sometimes)

but then they met you, and you turned their world topsy-turvy. suddenly they have someone that sees them as people & is so absolutely genuine that it makes them ache when they suddenly remember “hey, there’s this person i would do anything for and apparently they’d do the same for me, holy shit”

the first time they saw photos of themselves hanging in your apartment, it caught them off guard. it wasn’t a grand gesture that required a lot of fanfare, it wars a simple thing you did to have pieces of them be with you when they’re worlds away

plus, there’s no way you can be sad when looking at a picture of wrecker using a disgruntled crosshair as weights

these boys love you to the ends of the galaxy and then even farther & will make sure you don’t forget
