The Strawhats React to You Being Shy but Very Strong
Luffy
Tumblr media
Luffy first met you when you were just trying to go about your day
He was in the middle of a fight and he had accidentally bumped into you
Normally, you didn't like confrontation but you were getting annoyed
Luffy was shocked when you ended up punching one of the pirates who was trying to attack him
You sent the man flying, and he was amazed
When the fight was finally over, Luffy begged you to join his crew
Though, as soon as things calmed down, you were embarrassed that you had drawn attention to yourself
At first, you refused his offer, just wanting to live a peaceful life
Though, deep down you did want to explore what was beyond the island you called home
Luffy kept asking you to Join him, impressed by your strength
Finally, you gave in, admittedly tired of the mundane existence you had gotten used to for so long
Luffy would keep asking how you got so strong, but was surprised when you told him you were born with it
You admitted that people treated you poorly because of it, so you learned to keep to yourself
You can bet he's encouraging you to open up and always reminding you that your strength isn't a bad thing
Zoro
Tumblr media
He doesn't notice your strength when you first join the crew
He notices how shy you are, but he doesn't question Luffy's decision to have you be a part of their group
However, when the two of you are surrounded one day, he finds out why his captain was so impressed by you
He watched in shock as you helped him take down the men surrounding you, not even using a weapon
It didn't take long for the both of you to win the fight
He wanted to say something about your fighting skills, but decided to wait until you got back to the ship
He thanked you for helping him, and complimented you on your abilities
You were touched since most people feared you because of your strength
You found a new friend in Zoro, and he respected you
Nami
Tumblr media
Nami admittedly didn't think much of you at first
She didn't know what you were capable of, but that didn't matter
The two of you became fast frieds
Though, one day when the two of you were exploring the newest island the crew had found, you encountered some marines
Nami was worried since she wasn't sure how well you could handle yourself in a fight
However, she was surprised when you started beating up the marines
They could barely manage to get a hit in on you
Once the fight was over, you both ran back to the ship
She told you how cool you looked when fighting
You were honestly a little embarrassed by all the compliments she was giving you, but appreciated them none the less
Nami asked you to train her since she wanted to improve
The two of you became close and you helped her out a lot
Ussop
Tumblr media
He %100 looks up to you
Ussop tries to make up stories to impress you
You listen, even if you know they aren't true
He asks you to train him, hoping he can be as tough as you
Also, he will hide behind you during fights, begging you to protect him against stronger enemies
You're often the one encouraging him to be brave, even if he doesn't want to
He tries his best so you won't be disappointed in him
You're like a big sister to him in a way
For that reason, he feels really close with you, especially since he doesn't have any family he's close with
Sanji
Tumblr media
This man thinks you're the coolest woman in the world
He thinks you're beautiful and on top of that you're strong
He's simping hard
Compliments you all the time, he just thinks you should know how highly he thinks of you
When it comes to social situations, he's always there to back you up
When it comes to fighting, he knows you're more than capable of handling yourself
Though he will keep an eye on you during fights, just in case
If you do get injured, he always makes sure you get treated, no matter how small of an injury it is
Sanji's in love
Chopper
Tumblr media
Chopper already looks up to pirates
And in his opinion, you're one of the coolest ones he's met
He watches you fight with an awestruck look in his eyes
He's amazed that someone so shy can be so strong
He'll ask how you got that strong, and is surprised to hear that you were just born that way
He's upset when he learns that people treated you differently because of it
In his eyes you're just a normal person who happens to be super strong
He relates to being treated badly by people around him, so the two of you bond over that

Insert poorly drawn Oc
Tumblr media
I was thinking of making her “Co-Captain” instead of Head Captain. Anyways a lil bit about her : She had been registered into Foster Care at the age of 3 and met Rutabaga Koreaf, they hit it off instantly and refused to be separated whenever they had different Foster parents. They spent a couple of years back and forth at Ranger Marsh’s and eventually get adopted by him.
Krim’s nature is often portrayed as stoic and an optimistic leader. She has no trouble with being distracted and stays on task. She has a bit of military and navy expertise but actually likes the pirate aesthetic. Although, she’s not a “pirate” pirate, she can definitely be Captain. Her archeologist sister, Rutabaga, actually encouraged her style because it’s like seeing it in real life time. So that’s it.
Krim likes Italian and European dishes. Often than not, she actually enjoys talking about History too. She’s kind of a History nerd like her sister if you think about it. Krim can get her hands dirty without a problem. And mentoring others is another skill she unintentionally developed. She’s overly protective of her crew’s safety but it doesn’t mean that she’s motherly without punishments. Captain Barnacles was a great example to her when she job shadowed him, and she’s still learning new things from the job.
Eh, she’s a little boring. But after college is a different story to tell— eventually.

Rogue Trader Character Building Questions
I decided to do the whole thing myself instead of waiting for asks because I wanted to. The full list of questions is here https://www.tumblr.com/pheedraws/754469722746241024/rogue-trader-character-building-questions?source=share
Tumblr media
Arethousa von Valancius
Background
Arethousa is a voidborn. She was born on a small voidship that was the head of a small pirate fleet. The ship was cramped and ramshackle, but she does miss it often.
Her origin is Crime Lord, and before becoming a Rogue Trader she was commanding her small fleet of pirates and raiders. She considered herself an honorable pirate and avoided attacking smaller targets, focusing her raids on nobles.
Arethousa did have an excellent relationship with her father, who led her fleet before passing on command when he died. He taught her everything she knows about shooting, piloting, and command.
In story, her name doesn't have any special meaning or significance. Arethousa is the name of a Greek nymph who was transformed into a spring after fleeing from a river trying to violate her. 40K gives me an excuse to use Greek/Latin names for characters so I took it.
She has a very fond memory of the first time her father took her onto the ship's bridge and showed her around. She remembers being amazed at how much everyone seemed to respect him and she was very eager to learn about all the positions and jobs on the bridge.
Character & Convictions
6. Arethousa is mostly Iconoclast, with some leaning towards Heretical. She's pretty firm in her conviction, but most of her Heretical leaning gets ironed out as her story progresses.
7. Most of her Iconoclast leanings come from her father. She was taught that the best way to secure loyalty is to trust and believe in people and inspire them to do their best. Growing up in a close-knit community of pirates taught her to care deeply for her people.
8. Her triumph was managing to turn an entire star system into her den of thieves. She found a relatively backwater agri-world and 'liberated' them from some more tyrannical pirates, giving her somewhere to relax, get supplies from, or to lay low when necessary. She takes a lot of pride in it.
9. Her darkest hour was when her ship was disabled by envoys from the von Valancius dynasty who informed her of her heritage. Some of her crew turned on her for being a noble and while defending herself most of her gang was either killed or arrested by the authorities. She's haunted by it and it's given her some pretty major trust issues.
10. She initially took to it very poorly and wanted nothing to do with the dynasty. She even planned to run away and hide out once the ship reached Footfall, but Abelard managed to convince her that the dynasty wasn't so different from her old pirate crew and she slowly grew more comfortable with it.
Relationships
11. Arethousa is closest with Yrliet, Abelard, and Jae. Abelard very quickly becomes her surrogate father and they’re very supportive of each other. She relates to Jae as a fellow criminal with some skeletons in the closet, and appreciates that she refuses to be tied down by the dogma of the Imperium. She’s very drawn to Yrliet by how different she is from any human and it’s a welcome change to be with someone that lacks a lot of the pretext she dislikes in humans.
12. Arethousa and Heinrix clash constantly due to Arethousa’s flouting of Imperium law and her disrespect for authority. Heinrix’s unrequited crush on her makes things even worse. She also clashes with Marazhai, who she initially takes in out of pity but soon starts to resent having to constantly watch over him.
13. It takes a very long time for either of them to realize their bond is romantic, but she gets very close to Yrliet. Arethousa is ace and doesn't have much interest in romance, but the spiritual bond she develops during her meditation with Yrliet ends up blossoming into love.
14. The most important person in her life before becoming Rogue Trader was her father. Unfortunately, he died in a raid a few years before she became Rogue Trader.
15. She has some resentment towards Theodora for the way she was essentially kidnapped away from her old life. She had been on the voidship for a few weeks before the mutiny and had met Theodora a few times for mentoring on possible duties she could take over, but she kept her distance.
Skills & Expertise
16. Arethousa is an Operative into Bounty Hunter, though I may remake her into an Officer.
17. She’s a deadly shot, especially with a sniper rifle, and is very quick and slippery. She also excels at finding and exploiting weaknesses in enemy armor or formations. She’s very unskilled at melee combat, however, and tends to panic when she has to fight up close. She’s also pretty fragile and can’t take hits well.
18. She prefers subterfuge and coercion in combat, and generally avoids head-on confrontation. She’s used to being the void pirate who’s always outgunned but has surprise and guile on her side, and never grows out of that approach to combat.
19. She’s found the most success with Awareness, Persuasion, and Lore (Xenos). Knowing her environment and being able to deal with people is very important to her, and she’s had a lot of encounters and dealings with xenos.
20. She’s very fond of gardening. Growing up on a voidship, plants were extremely rare and the only ones she could usually see were those she grew herself. She cries at the beauty of it when she sees the jungles of Janus for the first time and later converts part of a deck on her ship into a greenhouse.
Appearance & Personality
21. She has a scar on her right cheek running down to her lip, and an intricate tattoo of flowers, thorns, and skulls all along her left arm.
22. She has a plate above her left ear that holds an eyepiece she uses to help aim her rifle. She also has two mechanical fingers on her right hand. She claims she lost the fingers in a gunfight, but she actually cut them off being very careless with a knife.
23. She carries herself as confident, friendly, and approachable, but with a vicious streak for those who cross her. This is fairly genuine, but she plays up her confidence and pretends to have much more faith in the Emperor’s doctrine than she really does. Yrliet is the only person she shows her honest unfiltered self to.
24. She believes that image is very important for a leader, so she cares a lot about how her protectorate sees her. She does her best to match the image she projects, but is often forced to be harsher than the benevolent Rogue Trader her protectorate sees.
25. For unknown reasons, her old pirate ship had a library of ancient texts and heretical tomes on xenos. This is where she learned a lot about xenos and the Imperium’s past glory.

If I could speak Japanese...
I'd pretty much apologize for the whirlwind of westerner fandom bullshit they're currently being subjected to. I saw a post recently of confused Japanese at some western nonsense, and they're right to be confused and outraged about it.
The Japanese social culture is nearly virgin waters for the sort of invasive, parasitic people that have hijacked it with absurd discourse. We in the west have dealt with their nonsense for a long, long time, and it has failed to translate over to them exactly the sort of sinister insanity we're dealing with. So it's kind of like having a family psychopath escape their containment and menace your foreign friend, who has no idea what is happening or what the problem is of that freak.
It's embarrassing, actually, and the worst would be if more Japanese started actually listening to their insanity and trying to conform to it instead of resisting it. Because I know what's going to happen. I can already see a few native Japanese trying to get with that program and start impressing it on their countrymen, the way they do over here.
When you don't know what's happening and why they're doing it or how they operate, it's easy to be blindsided by their insanity and go, "Is it everybody else, or just me?" Because these people currently bandwagoning on fandom are good at doing that. Making you question your own reality as they interact with this weird alternative version of it that isn't true, but they're demanding you conform to.
Such stupid bullshit as accusing Japanese artists of "whitewashing" Nessa of Pokemon and calling them white supremacists for not making her blacker. Erasing darker skinned Asians and going, "These characters are definitely black, so represent them as African people," and then making a fuss over people not doing what they want.
When I was a young man, things were different... In fact, for a brief while, they were so much worse. It was en vogue at the time and pop culture radical feminist discourse for female peers to hate "boys comic books" like cape comics and see them not just as immature and juvenile, but also hateful towards women for the skimpy outfits. Saying that western comics were boys fantasy (derogatory) and maintaining these beliefs about western society that were simply bigoted. That western society wasn't just majority white (Europe, the United States) but that it was inherently white supremacist and male chauvinist, and anything and everything that socially stemmed from that, in their eyes, was inescapably white supremacist and misogynist. Even benign things. Even something as simple as a comic book.
They said, "Comic books are an OLD BOYS CLUB that don't hire women writers or put women in charge of the business, they just exploit the image of women for profit and sell misogynistic characterization to reinforce anti-woman sentiments among boys." And they were wrong, of course. But the reality was, I couldn't even read She-Hulk around female peers my age between age 8 and 12, because it was enough to get angry lectures from them about how just reading the comic proved I was mentally immature (because they were too "polite" to use a term like retarded) and thought poorly of women.
They had been coached and tutored into believing such hideous things that made any western comic book into a toxic mess in their eyes, just seeing cigar smoking, woman hating, scotch drinking old white men in the business and just seeing every body reading comics as a miniature version of that.
We'd ask them what it would take for comic books to be okay, in their eyes. We were so much as told they'd only read stories written, drawn by and from companies owned by women. Because, they believed, women doing things inherently makes them better. And a man doing things inherently makes it oppressive and anti-woman.
And then an amazing thing happened.
Tumblr media
Japanese media started hitting US shores. It was largely bootlegged and pirated with a few outlets from companies that were trying to stake their claim and establish themselves as distributors for Eastern products as comics and cartoons, but it was a secret fandom regardless. And among them, were Japanese standards and stories and subject matter, which hadn't been henpecked and nagged into the ground and buried under endless amount of discourse, the way the west had.
Radical Feminism tried to attack Japanese media getting popular in the west. And oh, it had a lot of material to find contemptuous, and then do a little bee-like dance to signal to the sycophantic radical feminist girl proteges why everything in Japanese cartoons was harmful to girls and women........ but.................
The girls didn't listen. They enjoyed the material too much for their programming by radical feminism to be heard.
Radical feminism tried to remind them how horrible the depictions were to images of femininity.
The girls argued back that these stories from Japan fit the criteria they looked for. 1.) MANY Mangaka were female sexed. 2.) Women are and have always been involved in the Japanese comics and cartoon industry. 3.) On top of all that, they were/are Japanese. You know, one of those "oppressed minority groups" in their ideological view. A person that isn't white, and is therefore someone oppressed by white people (and capitalism) internationally.
The last point in the late 80s/early 90s was incredibly important, as it was a value of theirs as progressives that white people were not allowed to criticize or judge non-western/white majority societies or hold them to the same standards of what was sexist or discriminatory towards women as the west did. Because it was popular for western feminists to have different standards. They'd go on a rant about how horrible western men and western society was to women, and then praise what would be blatant and brazenly, objectively patriarchal culture and standards overseas because the people there were not white and clearly it was not our place to judge them. They argued judging Asian, Middle Eastern or African cultures would be imperialistic and white supremacist, so it was kept off the table.
So, Japanese media existed in this magnificent bubble at the time, impervious to western radical feminism and their academic bubble where they tried to make it popular to fabricate how every industry they didn't have control of the public relations for was bigoted and prejudiced in some way, shape or form. It could be everything that western media was no longer allowed to be. The girls could be feminine to the point of neotonous caricature and female anime fans could consume it up like iridescent, candy coated drugs without feeling some sort of guilt for consuming, "white supremacist mind control" or whatever. We could enjoy things together again without being judged as callous woman hating barbarians. We could have fun again.
That's partially what made it so popular. It was immune to the scrutiny of western feminism and out of their hands to criticize without getting people to turn against it.
If you speak Japanese, you have my permission to translate this as best as you are able and share it. I am a westerner from the United States, and I don't trust translation programs to properly convey my meaning. Having to learn how to deal with these people and their conspiratorial bullshit from scratch is never an easy task, and someone unfamiliar with their shame and peer-manipulative tactics is liable to get hurt, if not by others, than themselves.

What the ghouls dress up as for Halloween
Swiss: sexy anything. Basically he just adds fishnets and a pair of pumps to any costume.
Dew: an angel for the funny hahas, but not a good costume like a lazy frat boy version.(literally just a white shirt with poorly drawn wings on the back) He's gonna drink all night anyways.
Ather: 2nd half of a couples costume his SO picked out. Hes not that picky whatever makes them happy.
Rain: (Boys gained a lot more confidence recently) He spends the whole month making a homemade goldfish costume. It turns out pretty good and hes very proud of it
Mountain: Classic Dracula esc vampire (fake fangs, cape, drawn on widows peak)
Cirrus: Fancy pirate costume. Spent hours picking over thrift shops looking for costume pieces
Cumulus: professional cosplay quality costume of her current favorite anime character (She worked on hers with rain)
Sunshine: black cat complete with the drawn on sharpie whiskers

Oh yeah, now that I'm done with the NPC's, I can share some cool little things: Notably, the fact that I drew all of them in a single document!
Tumblr media
Here it is with every single layer turned on! Good gravy! I've been drawing in this same document since February.
Let's look at some of the cool stuff hidden inside!
Tumblr media
This was the first attempt at designing the witch doctor! That's right, this was the second NPC I tried to make. The only reason this didn't actually end up being the Mod eater Witch doctor was because I was too lazy to color him and didn't want to post him until I did. This design was scrapped in favor of Jamundi, because the Party girl and merchant ate all the conman cake and the witch doctor as I originally envisioned him became redundant. Also this art is cool, but the design didn't have that Mod Eater remix to it yet.
Tumblr media
Much later, I did these sketches, which became Jamundi. the stupid 'Jesse Skinkman' pun really helped me figure out a good direction for the character.
Tumblr media
This was the first drawing of the party girl, that I almost immediately abandoned. Up until this point she had been remixed into a fastidious type-A organizer... but it fell flat in the art for me, and I completely pivoted her to be what we have now.
Tumblr media
The wizard and Pirate were also attempted very early, but fell flat. The wizard was goofy, but not the right sort of goofy for me, and the pirate was hot, but beyond that the clothier had ended up with all of the 'hot older guy with skeleton curse' juice, so the pirate required much more remixing.
Also the weird little doodles in the corner there bely some of the more disconnected doodles in this document.
Tumblr media
weird little hollow-knight-ish things, some vix jokes... and a pair of drawings, one of Brooding-ninja-highschool-parkour-scout, and one of edgy mario. both of these sketches are fresh as fuck honestly.
The vix on the far right though is not fresh. She is in fact so poorly drawn that she is angry I have failed to draw her that badly.

@ofmdjanuaury Day 6: Canonverse AU
Basically a continuation of yesterday's JS&MN AU, now with 100% more Ed.
---
It's not magic, what Ed does. His mum always made sure he knew that.
She would rub his chest when he was sick, two fingers tracing circles over his skin, and shush him when he asked what she was doing. She would tap her fingers against the pot when she was cooking, and stop whenever anyone asked about it. She had a way of mending things that always made them stronger than before, the needle in one hand, her fingertip scratching shapes with the other, and Ed swears you couldn't even see the damage when she was done.
"It's just the way I was taught," she would say, and didn't teach him anything but the prayers to make yourself small.
---
He traces the grain of the rail as he watches the horizon, wishing for a breath of wind, and thinks only of luck as a breeze starts to tangle with his hair.
He taps his fingers against the wheel as he spins the ship away from the British, praying for a storm to hide them from those hateful dots on the horizon, and thinks only of his goddess as thunder rolls in from the west.
He paints kohl around his eyes as he thinks of fear and shadows and the looming dark, and watches a sailor piss himself just because Ed looked him in the eye. He sets barrells alight to create fog and finds the real thing rising up from the boards beneath his feet. He runs his hands along a splintered mast, bare palm to raw wood as he thinks of a grand tree growing strong and old, and watches it knit itself back together like --
Fuck it, it's magic, he can do fucking magic. He doesn't know how to explain it and if he stops and actually thinks about what he's doing it falls apart like a poorly knotted line, but magic springs out of him in the same way he can listen to a song once and find the notes waiting in the keys -- his fingers know what to do, even if he doesn't have the words to shape it.
---
"And this is my pride and joy!" Stede says, flinging an arm wide as he flourishes towards his bookshelves. He already looks healthier -- Ed had trembled his hand over Stede's side while Stede slept, not quite touching as he tried to remember the shapes his mum had drawn on his skin, and in the end he had just rested his palm over the bandage and thought of all the ways ropes could be spliced together.
"Incredible," Ed breathes. "And you've read all of these?"
"Many times! These are just my favourites. This side is for pirate history, biographies, that kind thing, but I've also got botany, natural history, theoretical magic, ancient magic, a few on seafaring, a brilliant --"
"Magic?" Ed cuts across.
"Mm!" Stede says, his eyes bright as he nods. "Are you interested in magic, Ed?"
"Can you do any real magic?" Ed says, sitting upright.
Stede laughs, and then his smile falters, shifts like a mirror. "Well, no one's been able to do real magic for centuries," he says, looking at Ed. A beat, and then: "Would you like to see some?"
"Fuck, yeah," Ed says, and Stede beams.
Stede gets a bowl and jug of water, setting both on the desk by the window. He gets a book, and some salt, and three silver spoons and some dried flowers and a gold chain wrapped around a glass bottle, which he sets down with a flourish.
"My own little addition," Stede says, like that should mean something. "I've only been able to do this three times, but I've found the bottle really helps."
"Right," Ed says, frowning at it all.
"Right," Stede says, and flips open the book. He starts humming to himself as he pours the water into the bowl, and arranges the things around it, presses a kiss to one of the spoons and stirs it in the water three times before tapping it against the side, crushes one of the flowers and sprinkles it over the surface, blows on it, clutches the bottle for a beat, and then dances his hand over the water like he's kneading bread.
Ed's fingers twitch. The water, sluggishly, starts to spiral, and Stede curls his hand as the whirlpool takes shape, a tiny swirling divot in the centre of his wash bowl.
"There! See! I did it!" Stede exclaims, and Ed hums.
"Nice one," he says, and then, "But why didn't you just..." he starts, and fidgets his fingers over the water like they've been itching to do.
The whirlpool jumps like a rock has been dropped into it and then shoots upwards, drawing up and out of the bowl until it's a perfectly contained, six-inch high, tornado.
"Oh," Stede says, his voice faint, and he's very close when he turns his head to look at him. He's grinning, everything about him brighter than the noonday sun, and Ed feels the warmth of it sink all the way through his ribs. "Ed! You didn't tell me you were a magician!"
---
There's more of this AU on day 14: magic ✨

Day 3 - map
@wagner-fell @chibi-tsukiko @littleturtle95
1997
Matthias shouldn’t have been surprised that Iceland was a cold country. A very cold country.
Having been born and raised for the most part in Osaka —where the summers were short and the winters long and freezing— he’d thought he’d stand indifferent in the face of lower temperatures, but nope. He wouldn’t stop shaking, and he was sure that if he sneezed, his snot would freeze up in no time. At least Lei seemed to be holding up better than him: her 17th-century western pirate attire may have looked comical Aboveground, but all those leathers were both comfortable and really warm. Also, she was the one holding the torch, so there’s that.
“Can you switch the torch to your left hand?” Matthias asked her “My balls are so far up my body they’re going to come out of my throat and that won’t be nice.”
Lei scrunched her nose, her lips twitching upwards. “Too much information, Matt,” she mock-complained as she passed the torch from one hand to another “Are we far?”
Matthias glanced down at his map. Supposedly, it depicted the path to a random Icelandic coast which had, in the 24th of June of 1627, been the scenario for one of the Turkish Abductions. He’d bought the map for an exia from an imlium who morphed into a chair immediately after being given the money, and the map was… not the best. Matthias had asked for a map in any of the languages he knew —Hebrew, Yiddish, Japanese and English— but had received it in Phoenician instead. The imlium had argued that he looked Mediterranean, so he should start learning the language of his prehistoric ancestors.
Matthias was not Mediterranean. He was a Scottish Jew from Japan who looked like the stereotypical tourist in a Mediterranean country. Matthias had been scammed.
“We should be close,” he said “I don’t understand a thing on this map, but we’ve been walking for hours.”
Lei hummed. She wasn’t one to express her emotions excessively, but Matthias was her best friend and could recognise the glint in her eyes as murder. “We should go back to that chair,” she proposed in a dangerous tone.
Matthias laughed. “Nah, I’ve got this under control. Let’s just sit down for a moment.”
The landscape wasn’t exactly welcoming for it, though. Aboveground Iceland was ensconced in darkness for a quarter of a year, and December was one of the three lucky months wherein the sun simply wouldn’t come out (hence why they carried a torch around). They were out in the wilderness, too, which meant they were easy prey for any predator lurking nearby. This was a fun trip.
Lei sat on the first big rock they came across, and Matthias sat crosslegged at her feet.
“Okay,” he began “We must be here,” he pressed a finger against a drawing of (hopefully) a clump of rocks “And we need to get to this coast,” he slid his finger to the edge of a poorly-drawn beach.
“Yes.”
“So we need to follow this path,” his finger went back and forth between their current location and the beach “Easy.”
Lei didn’t look so sure. She huffed out a curse in Mandarin and stood up, her torch held high like a pole to bear. Its light didn’t cover an ample radius, but they could make do with it. Matthias hoped so, at least. He felt an odd feeling of concern upsetting his stomach as he glanced at the near-impenetrable darkness. Iceland was the perfect place for Lei —it emanated the danger she thrived in— and if it weren’t for the fact that they were on a mission, she might be enjoying herself immensely. Take out the stars and moon, and snuff out the fire, and you’d get the human equivalent of Alliance Day: darkness upon darkness upon darkness, but this time walkable.
“I’ve always wanted to tread the streets when they’re like this,” she’d confessed last Alliance Day.
They’d been seating on Matthias’s bed, back at his new house in Tokyo. They’d been facing his window while the rest of his family and the Mochizukis were downstairs, very much trying not to pay attention to the darkness Lei so hungrily stared into. Her head had been resting on Matthias’s shoulder; it had been the only thing keeping him from cringing back to the rest.
“We’ll get there sooner or later,” Matthias now said, rolling the map and joining Lei. He put a hand on her shoulder “We can’t be far. Come on, light the way.”
She obliged, but didn’t say anything. In fact, she didn’t speak for the short remainder of the journey. Matthias’s concern grew to the point he could hardly focus on the path ahead. The same issue that had prompted Lei to spend Alliance Day in Tokyo, not in Shanghai, had only worsened with the passage of the months, and as a result, she’d grown prickly, snappish when confronted by anyone (including Linette) outside their close circle, and overly-obsessed with their ‘task’. It all stunk of self-destructive behaviour to Matthias.
When they reached the beach half an hour later, Lei heaved a grand sigh of relief. “Finally,” she turned to Matthias, a small smile playing on her lips that didn’t quite reach her eyes “Now we gather our intel.”
Had it been anyone else, Matthias would have returned the superficial smile and started the glimpsing into the past. But this was Lei; Lei who was his best friend and who he loved and who he had swore never to be dishonest to. So he gently took her hand and asked, “Sit down for a sec with me?”
Lei frowned. “What’s wrong?”
“You are,” he didn’t like how harsh he’d sounded, and elaborated on that “You’re overworking yourself.”
Her shoulders fell. The torch was in between them, casting strange shadows behind Lei. “I know that,” she said “But it’s the only thing keeping my mind off my family,” her voice came out faster, her tone higher “If for one moment I dare to stop, I am reminded of how my mother shouted at me and how my sister did nothing. All because I won’t adhere to a set of ridiculous norms they worship for no good reason whatsoever,” she clutched Matthias’s hand tighter, threading their fingers together “Spending time with you doing this,” she gestured round, to the coast “Is a safe haven right now. Even if it’s not healthy.”
For the last couple of weeks, they had been travelling around the world to get as much information as they could on different historical pirates. They had studied Barbarossa’s looting of southern Iberia, discovered some of Captain Kidd’s hidden treasure, gone to Honduras to see how l'Olonnais ate a Spaniard’s heart and to Panama to see how an indigenous tribe burned him alive (Matthias had had trouble sleeping for a week straight after that)… The only notable pirate they hadn’t investigated was Zheng Yi Sao, partly because she would need way more analysing than the rest, and mostly because Lei had been living with Matthias since February and didn’t want to set foot in China until her mother apologised.
“You haven’t been sleeping well,” he sighed “I can hear you pacing up and down all night.”
Lei’s jaw hardened near indiscernibly. “I thought you hadn’t noticed.”
“It’s hard not to when your room is next to mine. What do you spend all night doing? Choosing where next to see pirates?”
She nodded. “Or revising what we know about the ones we’ve already seen. I want to come up with the best strategy possible for when the time comes.”
“The time won’t come for a long time and you know it.”
“Regardless,” Lei stood up, pulling him up by their joined hands in the process “Let me worry about it instead of my mother’s impending disowning of me. Please.”
Matthias wanted to protest, but couldn’t find any compelling arguments. He was no one to tell Lei what to do, especially when his family adored him despite everything. So, he followed Lei when she went to the shore, and started glimpsing into the morning of the 24th of June of 1627.
He narrated everything he saw so that she could take notes, and even sketched on a large piece of paper the most important aspects of the raids so that they could go back to it later, this time with Dahlia and Xuegang present. They stayed like that, working like a well-oiled machine, for a duration of more than three hours.
“That’s enough for today,” Matthias exhaled, laying down on the ground and massaging his temples “By Roxia, my eyes hurt.”
Lei wiggled closer to him. She seemed tired, but the previous stress had disappeared from her shoulders. “If you take a nap, I’ll keep watch,” and she smiled.
“Nah, I’m too hungry for that,” as if on cue, Matthias’s stomach roared “See?”
“Want to grab some snacks in Reykjavik?”
“No way,” he sat up “No offence to any Icelandic folks, but I hate their cuisine. Besides, I’m craving something familiar, something Jewish. You’ve never eaten Ashkenazi food, right?”
Lei shook her head, amused.
“We’re eating some now, then,” Matthias stood up and offered her a hand “There’s this restaurant in Mirror Krakow my family visits when there’s something to celebrate.”
“And do we have something to celebrate?”
“Of course!” Matthias pointed downwards, where the torch’s fire illuminated a mass of scribbled-on papers scattered on the black sand “We have learned great stuff.”
And he truly meant it. The pirates that started the Turkish Abductions (which, by the way, were Algerian and not Turkish as one might be led to believe) had employed techniques they hadn’t seen before. And while that particular knowledge wasn’t useful to Lei —whose fighting style couldn’t be bettered by humans— it was useful to Xuegang, and perhaps even to Dahlia. Matthias couldn’t wait to let his best friends in on how much of a win today had been.
Lei’s dark eyes shone as if she could read his thoughts. “Step forward, Matt.”
Matthias obliged, and she wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and hugged him. Likewise, his own arms locked around her back to eagerly return the embrace. He couldn’t have guessed how long they stayed in that position, only that there was more than satisfaction over today in Lei’s end. There was gratitude, too, and filial love.
When they finally stopped hugging, Lei’s eyes were ever so slightly watery. She laughed quietly and ruffled Matthias’s hair. “I don’t care what my mother says: you’re the best friend I could’ve ever asked for. I’m not ashamed of you nor will I ever be. I’m eternally grateful for you, Matt.”

here are five poorly drawn Homestuck OCs of mine
Crazy long infodunp v
F.I.N.N. (Friendly Imaginary Nonverbal Nanobot) is a robot that Niki made when she was 9 cuz her guardian was neglectful and she wanted a babysitter. She made them 16 cuz that's what age Nickelodeon main characters usually are. F.I.N.N. like best friend things. They like pizza (can't actually eat it) and drawing! They don't have a mouth so they draw it on with chalk.
Niki is a brilliant mechanic, and has been her whole life. She is obsessed with femininity, and loves Nickelodeon TV shows. She has frequent and severe mood swings that F.I.N.N. was made to help her with. When she named F.I.N.N. she was 9 and didn't know the word mental, so she used imaginary instead for F.I.N.N.'s name and now her friends think that they are her imaginary friend.
Erin is the John Egbert of this session. We start with Erin and circle back to Erin, it always ends up Erin somehow. Erin like videogames. He's a dork. He doesn't have any friend except online friends. Everyone debates about whether he is a boy or a girl, little do they know that he is both! He tends to use he/him pronouns but really has no preference. Erin's glasses are always a bit crooked. His passions include 100%ing games, and speed running games. Erin is pretty good friends with Niki and Ross, but he is pretty sure that F.I.N.N. is some weird AI thing that Niki created based on her imaginary friend. He thinks Glen is weird but puts up with him.
Ross is this sessions Cool Kid™. He constantly over stresses about being cool and not cringe. He *hates* cringe things. Ross has a (not so) secret cringe past. Under his mask is a permanent cat mouth (like the 3 in :3). Ross tries not to ramble and hyperfixate, and has thrown out all of his old cringe interests and habits. The only thing he lets himself obsess over now is pirates, as he's deemed them cool. Even though Ross is always concerned about being cool, he wears twinkle toes. He is also very angry and confused when anyone insinuates that twinkle toes aren't cool. Ross is dating Glen, but this is a post troll planet and so they have quadrants and Ross and Glen violently vaccilatate between kismesisitude and matespritship.
Glen is ***cringe***. That is his entire personality. He comes from a very rich household, and has not one but two guardians. You name something stereotypically cringe, Glen likes it. He's a bit entitled but not on purpose. Glen uses tamagotchikind because his parents just keep getting him tamagotchis and he doesn't know what to do with them. He loves/hates his stupid/cute boyfriend. Glen and Ross are neighbors.

Size:
Linn's family is big. BIG. While her parents only had two children   -   Herself and her formerly older sister   -   the rest of the family tree is huge, with countless cousins, uncles, aunties and the like. Family gatherings are a real festival, if one might say so. They are important to mink culture  &  are being taken very seriously. One thing Linn probably will never get over is the little stinging guilt she feels when looking at the calendar in her office and noticing that one of her, I don't know, third grade cousins is having their birthday today  &  she can't attend the party because she is stuck out on the ocean.
Occupations:
Her closer family circle [ Mom, Dad, Grannies and Grandpas ] all work or have worked in the medical field. Her father owns a popular apothecary  &  is a widely known doctor himself. Not only that, but her mother was a nurse for most of her life  & fell in love with the handsome doc one day  &  started a family :3c The medical game is heavily rooted, which she holds a certain amount of healthy pride in.
Mink Races:
Still staying in the closer circle, Linn's mom-side of the family is purely feline. It appears the cat genes are dominant, since both kids turned out to be kittens. More versatile would be her father's side, with daddy being a hyena mink. Her dad's father, also a hyena, married a rabbit mink (bunny granny is the most open-minded person in the whole family, lmao). The rest of her whole family tree shines with a wide arrangement of races which I will not get into, but you catch my drift.

Unraveling Fates
Link to the full story here. I elaborated on the whole Will Scarlet and the book of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland bit, where Will still remembers Anastasia (the Red Queen) and still wants to be with her.
Emma walked out of her sheriff’s office and towards the cell that Will Scarlet was in after being arrested the previous night for drunken behaviour. Which also ruined her date night with Hook.
Will laid on the uncomfortable bed of the cell, groaning, before turning his head, which was where he saw Emma approaching the bars of the cell. “Oh, bloody hell,” he cursed.
“Good morning, sunshine,” Emma greeted, leaning into the cell. “Wanna tell me why you broke into the library last night?”
“The what?” Will asked, then remembered where he had been the previous night. “Oh, that’s what that place was? I just thought it was a poorly stocked pub.”
“Okay, I get it. Every town needs a village idiot. But your little stunt pulled me away from an important investigation. And it also interrupted my night off. Start talking.”
“The last thing I remember is running away from you,” Will said. “And then, I celebrated my escape with a nice bottle of whisky.”
Emma held up the book what she was holding. “Did you celebrate with all your friends?” she asked. “Alice and the White Rabbit?”
Will’s eyes widened at the sound of those names. His friends. He hadn’t heard of them – or seen them – in months. Not since the wedding. He turned his head towards Emma and saw the book she was holding. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Though the illustration was off. Alice never looked anything like the girl on the cover. And never did the Caterpillar. Will got up off the bed quickly. And he approached the bars.
“This was on you in the library,” Emma stated, then pulled out a ripped page from her pocket. The page was clearly from the book. “This was in your pocket.”
Will looked down at the page. But, more importantly, it was the person drawn on the page. “Anastasia,” he whispered to himself. He had missed her every day. He thought he would be with her, like the old times. But he had found himself in Storybrooke again. He didn’t know how but he didn’t want to be there. He wanted to be with her. With Anastasia. But how could he go back there? To Wonderland?
“Anastasia?” Emma had heard him whisper. “Does she mean anything to you?”
Will was silent. She was his past. She was supposed to be his future, too. He didn’t want to share his past – or future – with any old person. And certainly not the sheriff of this town. “Nope,” he lied. “Doesn’t mean a thing.”
“You said a name. Who’s Anastasia?”
“No one that you would know. Or understand.”
Emma frowned. She was getting nowhere with him. “Okay. What about your eye? Did you get a look at whoever gave you that shiner?”
Will looked behind Emma and saw Hook enter the room. “Now, that is an interesting question, isn’t it?” he asked, recognizing the pirate as the one who gave him his black eye.
Emma turned around when she heard footsteps approaching. “Where were you?” she asked.
“Sorry, love. I just got your message. I …” Hook said, though he didn’t know what to say. Or how to explain what he had been doing the previous night.
“It’s okay,” Emma smiled. “I just need another minute here.” She turned back to face Will. “You were about to tell me who did that to your face.”
“It’s a bloody mystery to me,” Will lied. “Your guess is s good as mine. Must’ve been some party, eh?”
“Well, if you remember anything, I’ll know where to find you,” Emma said, then turned to walk away.
“You’re just gonna keep me in here because I broke into a bloody library?” Will yelled after her.
Emma turned around. “Because you crashed my date.” She turned to face Hook again. “Which turned out pretty good despite the rude interruption.” She looked down and saw that he had the hook back on his left wrist. “What the hell happened to your hand?”
“It appears the Dark One’s magic wasn’t all I’d hoped it would be,” Hook said before the Professor came into the sheriff’s station, holding one of the record books.
“We’ve combed through every last book,” the Professor said, walking over to the closest desk and placing the book on the surface. “The name that this Snow Queen has been using here doesn’t show up in any record. Which means Sarah Fisher is a ghost.”
“What does that mean?” Emma asked.
“That she never came here by any curse. The Dark Curse created fake records for everyone that it brought over. So if she did come by the Curse, her name would be here.” He pointed to the book. “But it’s not.”
“Then how did she get here?” Emma asked. “And what the hell does she want with me?”

‘Ember Island’- Zuko x (Waterbender)female!reader
Masterlist <3
An: so, this took forever, and for that I’m sorry! I’ve been super busy and this piece was really difficult to write (i couldn’t think of how they portrayed YN badly) , so I’m sorry if it’s not up to standard :( (PS: Being a bender is only mentioned like once, so you could totally be whatever bender you want !)
Thank you for the request though! I’m very grateful for you! ❤️‍🩹
Summary:
@ilovegirlsgeneration
“So an already established relationship with Zu, and it's the day of the Ember Island Play. Reader thought it would be cool and then woops the play basically makes them look like a terrible person and they freak out and Zuko is there to comfort them!”
I changed it slightly so keep the summary as a rough outline :)
Warnings: I don’t think there’s any, let me know if there are though!
Tumblr media
You sat next to Katara on the step in front of the fire nation’s royal family beach resort, observing the avatar and his mentor (more commonly known as Zuko) train tirelessly. Toph laid down on the opposite side of Katara, a relaxed pose adorned by the young earthbender. Not too long after, the teens training bowed to each other, Zuko stretching his arms as he walked off.
“Doesn't it seem weird that we’re hiding from the firelord in his own house?” the waterbender said, looking around the overgrown building walls.
“I told you, my father hasn’t come here since our family was actually happy,” Zuko replied from his spot on the barren fountain, wiping the sweat off of his body with a rag, “And that was a long time ago. It’s the last place anyone would think to look for us.”
You smiled at the firebender, drinking in his appearance - you should watch him train more often. Your moment of serenity (and rather shameless staring) was interrupted when Sokka and Suki joined you guys, the boy holding a scroll in his hands.
“You guys are not gonna believe this! There’s a play about us,” he said, smugly.
-
“We were just in town and we found this poster,” Suki signalled with her hands, and Sokka opened the scroll wide, revealing a poorly drawn (and semi inaccurate) depiction of Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Zuko in the background - along with some writing which you struggled to read due to the distance.

“What? How is that possible?” Katara moved to get a better angle, icy blue eyes blown wide.
Toph neared the group too, meanwhile you went and stood next to Zuko.
“Listen to this: ‘The boy in the iceberg’ is a new production from acclaimed playwright pu wang ten. He scattered the globe gathering information on the avatar. From the icy south pole to the heart of ba sing se. The sources include singing nomads, pirates, prisoners of war and a surprisingly knowledgeable merchant of cabbage.”
Your eyebrows furrowed once he reached the sources, how did they even know your team has spoken to these people?
“Brought you by the critically-acclaimed Ember island players.” Suki read the fine print outloud.
Zuko visibly cringed, groaning, “My mother used to take us to see them! They butchered ‘love amongst the dragons’ every year.”
The group stared at the annoyed bender for a second, before the waterbender turned to her brother, “Sokka, do you really think it’s a good idea to attend a play about ourselves?”
He replied, eccentrically, “C’mon, a day at the theatre? This is the kind of wacky, time wasting nonsense I’ve been missing!”
“What do you guys think?” Suki asked.
Zuko looked up to you from his spot, waiting for you to voice your opinion, “I mean, why not? It does seem pretty fun.”
“If you say so.” Katara replied.
“Sure,” Toph shrugged.
“I guess so.” Zuko smiled at you, imagining a romantic time at the theatre together.
“Get a room.” Toph fake gagged, sensing your heart beats.
“You can’t even see us!” you yelled back playfully.
The group had a good laugh at that, Toph still claiming it’s gross.
Shortly after the sun took its leave, and the moon settled between the fluffy clouds, you all made your way to the play. The walk there was peaceful, the sounds of grasshoppers filling your ears. Zuko took it as an opportunity to hold your hand, which you took, gratefully. He didn’t always initiate PDA, so it was definitely a surprise. Once your hands interlocked, he looked at you, a blush illuminating his face. You bumped him with your hips, wordlessly asking him “Why are you shy, stupid?” at which he stuck his tongue out at you.
Upon arriving, you all clammered inside, getting past the herd of people just barely in time for the beginning. The curtains were still shut as you all chose your seats. Toph took a corner seat, followed by Katara right by her. Aang sat next to the waterbender, a grin on his face. You and Zuko took the seats on the higher level, sitting on the outer edge since the other couple took the inner one. Once comfortable, Zuko wrapped an arm around you, pulling you closer to his body.
“Comfy?”
“Yeah.” you pecked his cheek, eliciting a chuckle from him, which shook your body, causing you to laugh too.
“Why are we sitting in the nosebleed section? My feet can’t see a thing from up here!”
“Don’t worry, I’ll tell your feet what’s happening.” Katara assured Toph.
Just then, the lights dimmed, and the curtains began to open. You drummed your hands on your thighs in anticipation. Zuko smiled at your childlike excitement.
On the screen, awfully recreated versions of Sokka and Katara appeared, rowing a boat. Sokka quickly stood, pointing to him and Katara excitedly. Unfortunately, he bumped into Zuko by accident, who bumped into your head.
Your boyfriend gasped, cupping your head, “Sorry, Sokka bumped into me.”
“Don’t worry about it, it didn’t even hurt.”
He looked at you with a saddened expression, and you squeezed his hand in return.
“I’m starving!” you heard Sokka’s knock-off shout, the crowd erupting into hysterics.
The water tired siblings looked at one another in complete shock and annoyance.
“Is food the only thing on your mind?”
“Well, I'm trying to get it out of my mind, and into my mouth. I’m starving!”
“This is pathetic, my jokes are way funnier than this!”
You turned to Zuko, smiling, “Okay why was that actually funny. I didn’t expect him to say that.”
“That was far from funny.”
You gasped, clutching your heart. Just before you spoke, Toph began, laughing: “I think he’s got you pegged!”
“Every day, the world awaits a beacon to guide us, and yet, none appears.” Katara’s actor said, emotionally. “Still, we cannot give up hope, for hope is all we have! And we must never relinquish it, even,” she fell, sobbing. “Even to our dying breath!”
You looked back at Katara, “Well, that’s just silly. I don’t sound like that.”
Sokka and Suki were struggling to conceal their laughter, meanwhile Zuko just smirked, finding it funny. You covered your mouth with your hands, giggles escaping against your will.
“Oh man! This writer’s a genius!”
Suddenly, the screening darkened, and a blinding beam of light clouded your vision. You brought up your fingers to cover your eyes, only slightly helping you see.
“It appears to be someone frozen in ice. Perhaps for 100 years!”
You facepalmed, “No one would just guess that.”
Zuko shrugged, “I mean, I guessed it was the avatar then, and I was aware he was gone for 100 years.”
“Yeah, but they weren't.”
“Fair enough.”
“But who? Who is the boy in the iceberg?”
Aang excitedly leaned forward, practically vibrating at the excitement of his soon to be appearance.
“Waterbend! Ha-Ya!” Katara groaned at this, that’s not even how bending works!
After the actress made a choppy hand motion, the ice broke in half, smoke continuously oozing out. Just then, a lady in a bald cap emerged, winking comically. Aang did a double take, convinced his eyes were deceiving him.
“Who are you, frozen boy?”
The avatar’s actress giggled, “I’m the avatar, silly, here to spread joy and fun!”
“Wait, is that a woman playing me?”
You couldn’t help but notice the smile on your boyfriend’s features, raising a brow at his lack of compassion.
You jumped as a sudden beast popped up behind them, Zuko laughing at your reaction. Appa’s theatrical recreation was appalling, much like the play itself. You furrowed your brows as the creature made loud noises and jumped around.
“An airbender,” the waterbender’s performer exclaimed, “My heart is so full of hope that it’s making me tear-bend,”
“That’s a thing?” you asked your fellow waterbender, who shook her head in annoyance, barely hearing you over the sounds of the false sobs.
“My stomach is so empty that it’s making me tear-bend.” he also fell weeping, “I need meat!”
Aang’s stag player gasped, pointing somewhere in the distance, “But wait, Is that a platter of meaty dumpling?”
The avatar’s face was priceless, his head leaning on the safety bar.
“Oh! Where? Where?”
The performer laughed, an extremely fake sounding laugh, “Did I mention that I’m an incurable prankster?”
The crowd erupted into a, yet again, hysterical laughter, at a quite literally anti-funny punch line.
“Aren’t jokes meant to be funny?” Zuko whispered, jokingly confused.
You giggled, nodding at his comment.
“I don’t do that! That’s not what I’m like,” the young avatar said, exasperated, “And I’m not a woman!”
Toph snickered, “Oh! They nailed you twinkle-toes!”
Aang frowned.
Just then, a boat with an old fellow and a younger one with a high ponytail appeared sailing on a fire nation boat.
“Prince Zuko, you must try this cake.”
“I don’t have time to stuff my face, I must capture the avatar to regain my honour!”
Zuko winced, not enjoying this outside perspective of him.
“Well, while you do that, maybe I’ll capture another slice.” he ate loudly, the chewing noises loud and gross.
“You sicken me!”
Zuko folded his arms, “They make me look totally stiff and humourless.”
Katara, from her spot, replied, “Actually, I think that actor’s pretty spot on.”
“How could you say that?!” The actor for uncle Iroh’s voice boomed, “Let’s forget about the avatar and get massages.”
“How could you say that?!” ‘zuko’ responded loudly.
You giggled at your lover’s defeated face.
For a while, you lost focus on the play, but apparently, during that period, Aang found momo, Suki and Sokka met, they met king bumi, the trio was surrounded by pirates (because Katara stole a scroll).
Then there was that scene where the blue spirit saves Aang, which Zuko seemed uncomfortable watching, And of course then there was that whole Jet incident. Honestly, it was getting boring waiting for yourself to be introduced.
After many, many, more events, the intermission started.
“So far, the intermission is the best part of the play.” you shrugged, agreeing with the firebender.
“Apparently, the playwright thinks I’m an idiot who tells bad jokes about meat all the time.”
“Yeah, you tell bad jokes about plenty of other topics.” you giggled at the kyoshi warrior’s response.
“I know!”
“At Least the Sokka actor kinda looks like you, the woman playing the avatar doesn’t resemble me at all.” looks like he was taking this personally.
“I don’t know. You are more in touch with your feminine side than most other guys.”
He groaned, looking as if he was about to start a fight.
“Relax, Aang. They’re not accurate portrayals. It’s not like I’m a preachy crybaby who can’t resist giving over emotional speeches about hope all the time.”
Everyone started in silence, “What?” Katara asked.
“Yeah, that’s not you at all.” The avatar said, half heartedly.
“Listen friends, it is obvious the playwright did his research. I know it must hurt, but what you’re seeing up there is the truth.”
Just then, the call for reentering beckoned you all to go back to finish this atrocity. Your hands interlocked with Zuko’s as you walked, bodies even closer together this time around.
“Well here we are in the Earth Kingdom.”
“I’d better have a look around to see if I can find an earth bending teacher.” ‘Aang’ flew around.
“This is it! This must be where I come in!”
“I flew all over town, but I couldn't find a single earth bending master!”
“Here it comes!” toph yelped.
“You can’t find an earth bending master in the sky, you have to look underground.”
Everyone erupted into hysterics, Toph still in shock.
“Who are you?”
“My name’s Toph, because it sounds like tough, and that’s just what I am.”
“Wait a minute, I sound like a guy. A really buff guy”
“Well Toph, what you hear up there is the truth. It hurts, doesn’t it.”
“Are you kidding me? I wouldn’t have cast it any other way. At least it’s not a flying bald lady.”
Aang looked as if he was about to blow a fuse.
The actors had more talk with the Toph player, ending in him screaming for some reason.
You sat up straight again once you realised this should be when you come in.
“Your turn, Yn.” Sokka said, laughing.
The false gang were walking around some shops, exactly when you came in. Or, were supposed to. You furrowed your brows as the scene played out, and yet, you weren’t even there.
Katara looked at you, trying to get a feel for your mood - yet you were unreadable. Without a warning, you got up, Zuko’s arm falling down into the empty seat. You walked out before anyone could say anything to stop you, this was beyond humiliating. It wasn't a bad portrayal, it was worse - you weren’t even recognised as a member of the team. You sighed, arms crossed as you walked out onto the beach, soles of your shoes dipping in the clean sands of the Ember Island beach. Your face felt warm, a contrast to the freezing cold weather. Tears pricked your eyes as you recapped the thoughts, Am I that irrelevant? Boring? Why’d they cut me out? Immersed in your thoughts, you hadn’t felt the hot tears stream down your flushed cheeks. You were embarrassed, belittled, and excluded. Does everyone see you as an outsider to the gang? You huffed, roughly wiping the waterworks that never quite seemed to stop.
“Yn!” you heard a familiar voice call.
You shook your head, picking up the pace.
“Can you please talk to me?” Zuko called again, exasperated and clearly stressed.
You stopped walking, a pout on your face as he caught up. He stood behind you and lightly grabbed your arm, turning you to face him. Immediately, the firebender’s face softened, his calloused hands reaching up to wipe your tears. You leaned your  face into his palm, and he pecked your cheek. You let out a deep breath, pushing yourself into his arms.
“What’s wrong darling?”
You shook your head ‘no’, “It’s not a big deal. Just being dramatic.” you let out a forced laugh at the end.
He knew you to be the type of person to respect others feelings, no matter how miniscule. But when it came to yourself, you always invalidated your own emotions, it hurt him to see you be so careless with yourself.
“It’s not dramatic if you're upset,” he spoke intently.
You sighed loudly, shutting your eyes, contemplating what to say -or actually, how to say it, “It- It’s like I’m not respected, or or even important enough to be recognised. I feel left out.”
He paused, waiting to see if you would continue, but you mistook his silence as judgement, and immediately pushed yourself away. “I know it isn’t as bad as anyone else’s it’s stupid but it’s like-”
“It’s not stupid. And it’s pretty bad.” he cut you off. “You are respected, at least in our group. Clearly the playwright made a mistake not including the funniest, prettiest,” he teased, stepping to you and pinching your sides, causing you to squirm. “Most amazing member.” Zuko kissed you quickly, more of a peck really.
You laughed, pulling him into a deeper, more passionate kiss, hands tangling in his messy hair. You rested your forehead on his, lips separating.
“I love you,” his cheeks glew a crimson red, making you snicker.
“I love you too,”

[also sorry i took so long to get back to you, i took a shower and was in there for like an hour mentally ranting about--that's not relevant and will probably make some people mad or something idk anyways--]

how to be a pirate: pdf | audiobook
how to speak dragonese: pdf | audiobook

how to twist a dragon's tale: pdf | audiobook
a hero's guide to deadly dragons: pdf | audiobook**

how to steal a dragon's sword: pdf | audiobook
how to seize a dragon's jewel: pdf | audiobook
how to betray a dragon's hero: pdf | audiobook
how to fight a dragon's fury: pdf | audiobook
bonus: a fun guide that's for teachers to use to teach the book but also has a lot of cool information about vikings as well as world building that i suggest looking at for funsies
*note: had trouble finding a legit / good pdf from six (how to ride...) onward, so those were the best that i could get and you should just be able to download most like the others ??? some websites seemed sketchy but i could be wrong. audiobooks are all completely safe tho
**note: this is weird because they repeat the story like twice ??? like it is the whole story and legit, but then it like starts over once it ends lol
so, the audiobooks are Incredible ! like. no joke. i actually relistened to them back in like. march / april / may, that area and i Loved it ! actually, fun fact, david tennant recorded them and he does a phenomenal job !!! he gets super into character and does different voices for everyone and is just all around Incredible ! they are a pleasure to listen to!
another thing i'll add is that cressida adds her own pictures and i'm pretty sure none of these include her pictures which is sad :/ but maybe some do ! the art is really cute ! she also includes things in the middle of the books like a guide on certain words or phrases and how to say them in dragonese or pages from hiccup's personal guide to dragon's book which gives you, the reader, more information about the dragons hiccup and the gang are facing, seeing, interacting with! the audiobook includes those, but idk about the pdfs!
i hope you enjoy them because these books were like. my childhood. i vividly remember that i once had a (poorly drawn) map hanging on my wall of the world in relation to berk and where all of the different viking tribes were ! the characters are all unique and quirky and wait also
do Not let the silliness of the first few books make you stop because they get so much more mature as they go on. not to make a harry potter reference because screw jkr, but like, you wouldn't put goblet of fire as the first hp book. you gotta work up to the genuine seriousness, you gotta introduce the characters and establish world building and that's what the first three, four, books does ! cressida is a super clever author too, and everything she writes matters, even if it's later on. it's incredible to watch the books mature, i remember reading every book as they came out and being blown away every time. i was just a kid, tho, so rereading / listening to them makes me gape sometimes because wow there are some serious / darker themes that are handled Really Well.
the books also have Incredible representation for their time, imo, especially with gender roles (which is even more impactful when camicazi comes in in book three) and disabilities (fishlegs is a Huge person here and i love him) (toothless also works here too because he has a stutter), amongst other things. and none of these things are ever made fun of in a way that seems legit. the people who make fun of them are the jerks or the villains or the people you aren't supposed to like. it's just. ahhhhh! they're so good and i have Many Feelings i could go on forever about how much i adore these books wow wow wow but i shall stop now so i do not spoil anything major because i am Great at accidentally spoiling lol
fun extra analysis posts i love under cut oops
