I love how knuckleduster is always smiling like all might but his smile is both more deranged and genuine all might clearly smiles as a part of the heroic character, it's plastered on at all times, while knuckleduster smiles because he's enjoying himself really nice dichotomy between the mentors honestly there's a lot of good stuff with knuckleduster being a mirror of all might most obviously is the catchphrase, "I am here" versus "I'm here," he's more gruff and casual focused less on an image and more on going in and saving people same with their costumes all might has a wide range of costumes from his career and several of them have big capes and all of them are brightly colored and recognizable whereas knuckleduster is pure function over form bandana to hide his face, trenchcoat as protection from the elements and clothes that are very easy to get dirty in, and his titular knuckledusters always there all might jumps down in the first episode in the daytime, to the cheers of a crow and with a heroic punch, wheras knuckleduster comes in at night, landing in a trash heap to everyone's confusion before that immediately morphs into everyone being SCARED of him although for the first appearance they are technically doing the exact same thing jumping off a building and punching a villain in the face before he kills someone and then we get the shot that mirrors the main series with deku kneeling and crying after being accepted as all might's apprentice, his childhood idol, but it's koichi rejecting the call outright and thinking that this stranger is DANGEROUS you can also do a similar level of comparison between deku and koichi, and to a lesser extent pop and uraraka though some of that is surface level, pink colored girls with floaty abilities and a crush on the mc, or meta-textual, which is spoilers there are a lot more similarities between knuckleduster and all might that are also spoilers for vigilantes the knuckleduster scene also mirrors the one in the main series where all might saves deku from the goop guy the only other "paralell" character that isn't a spoiler to even discuss is soga, who paralells bakugo but twisted heavily he also parallels how koichi is to deku, with koichi being a deku who never met all might and had a shitty quirk with soga ||having a mediocre quirk and was bullied throughout his childhood instead of being talked up as a god, and instead of going to the best hero school he graduated a punk from a normal school and became listless, which bred resentment in him that ended up with him becoming the kind of person we see at the beginning, before through the gang's influence and more importantly through his own vigilante work actually helping people he stops lashing out at the world and truly works to make things better|| ol mister hands has his paralell but honestly I don't think about shiggy at all so I'm not sure how well I could actually analyze his parallelism to redacted beyond surface level I love redacted tho great character

There’s this pretty big disparity I’ve noticed between how nolan (omniman) is interpreted in mainstream stuff vs his like actual character in both show/comic

Fanon nolan interpretation:

-doesn’t feel remorse or empathy

-oh he’s soooo cool he’s so swag and smooth talking

-genuinely doesn’t care for his son esp not his wife

-never cared for the guardians

-you don’t get it he’s actually right guys!! Genocide good!

-this also ties in with just reducing mark to the “guy who gets beat up nonstop” and debbie to “the pet”

-they definitely think this version of nolan abides by human bigotry shit like sexism

Canon nolan (according to show and comic):

-oblivious to A LOT of social cues and overall very socially inept (very blunt and dry tone of voice so he always sounds kinda mad even if he isn’t)

-actually cares about his family and friends but has trouble expressing it verbally, more show than tell

-cared ab the guardians and they were his friends but he repressed the hell out of what he did bc of guilt (and he’s dumb)

-says things like “curses” and “moon it up”

-monologues a bunch like holy shit

-very physically affectionate with the people he’s v close too (he also smiles guys!)

-makes jokes without trying (kinda hard to catch bc of the deadpan tone at times)

-would realistically be confused by earth’s own forms of bigotry and shit

-bookworm and wrote and documented things even before becoming a writer on earth!

-feels extreme remorse and guilt for his past actions but again has trouble showing it

Mr. Villian is not a vocaloid but its from a song sang by vFlower called Villian and its really good. vFlower is overall my the best vocaloid (in my opinion) but the runner-ups would be Teto (if she counts, shes a UTAU), Kagamine Rin, and Hatsune Miku (basic ik but they're all rlly good)

i wonder how talented people find multiple, actual supportive friends. seems like ive been missing that all my life because so far i only know one (two if i count a moot from here)

ive been praised for my writing but it still feels extremely hollow because. like. now what? i look cool cause i can do amazing naturally, but no one even cared to tag along. in fact, the people that did wanted to rip a part of me out for their keeping

Okay I think I said this before but one of the coolest things about Mandalorian characters to me (from an anthropological perspective) is their moral system.

Like, bounty hunting is one of the most common and widely acceptable Mandalorian professions, a bounty hunter is the basis of the entire Mandalorian character and carries a consistent through line in the various manifestations of Mandalorians we see including Jango and Jaster. But bounty hunting is a fucked up job, by our standards. These are people who are freelance law enforcement for whomever hired them, though different ones draw different lines. Largely they are delivering petty criminals or impoverished bail jumpers or tax evaders or even escaped slaves to some uncertain fate, often death, in exchange for money.

And yet Din Djarin, for example, is one of the most steadfastly code-driven and honorable characters and mandalorians we see. Many people have pointed out he is the quintessential Mandalorian. He’s extremely likeable and he doesn’t feel bad or evil. Because to him, he’s not bribable, he’s not swayed by a hard fight or a challenge or begging. He’s fulfilling his word, carrying out contracts that he agreed to. He’s providing for his family. He’s not being unnecessarily cruel or murderous. He goes to great lengths to never break his word. He’s humble, doesn’t buy into traditional gunslinger machismo for the most part. But he also has no qualms about killing anyone he has to in order to complete his jobs, or hurting people and communities because he’s been paid to. Immoral actions can still be done (and often are) with honor in the Mandalorian psyche, because those are two totally different concepts. It seems like, to them, honor is often more important than objective morality. And that’s really fucking interesting!!

I think we should write Mandalorian characters more through that lens and explore what it means to be the “good guy” in Mandalorian history - a history which also is RIDDEN with a legacy of conquest and colonization to boot, though they’ve since experienced multiple genocides and become a wide diaspora.

If more people understood that Jaster is not a goody-two-shoes knight in a white cape fighting for the greater good and with a "standard good person" morale, but a mercenary that follows contracts to the letter who has a code and rules for him and other mercenaries, I think I would tolerate most of the fanon content of him

Okay, I need to rant. Fuck AI. And I mean seriously. FUCK. A.I. I know I’m probably preaching to the choir here, but more people need to be talking about this, and there’s no point in me saying that if I’m not willing to talk about it too. AI has done nothing but ruin our communities and defile the art that millions of hands have spent millions of hours creating. Fanfiction is a work of passion. Drawing is a work of passion. Voice acting IS A WORK OF PASSION. AI has no passion. It takes the soul out of the things we love and cherish. It steals what we as a collective community have lovingly crafted, and it shatters it to a thousand pieces, spits on it, curses its family, and throws it in a flaming dumpster to be eaten by rats. It is despicable and disgusting.

I won't lie, or pretend I’m a perfect saint. I myself was a user of Character AI until somewhat recently. And as ashamed as I am to admit that, I feel it’s necessary to own up to my own faults. But after seeing the damage it causes, I can’t in good conscience even consider touching that site. Many of us write because it is our passion. Many of us because it is our job. And many of us because it is our *friend*. AI steals the writing of your favorite creators WITHOUT PERMISSION and mashes it together like Frankenstein’s fucked up monster to create storylines that aren’t even fucking coherent. Not only that, but Character AI uses whatever you respond to it with to teach itself as well, which means that the company has access to whatever you chat about, and free reign to do whatever they want with it. They also make absurd amounts of money from it, which in comparison, fanfiction writers, who spend countless hours writing stories for our favorite characters, more often than not charge nothing. And the ones who do charge, tend to have reasonable, if not highly lenient prices for their labor.

Which leads me into another side rant. SUPPORT WRITERS THAT YOU LIKE. It’s really not that hard, it takes two fucking seconds of your time and it makes someone's day. Reblog. Share with your friends. Like. Comment. Just let the writer know that you saw it, and that you liked it. The amount of fanfic writers I have seen get completely discouraged from writing because of lack of engagement is astounding. I’ve seen several posts on Tumblr or Twitter or Bluesky talking about creators that were incredibly popular but never knew it due to lack of engagement is appalling. If you can rant about your love for their work on Discord, you can rant about your love for their work in the comments. Just fucking copy paste it. Tell them how much you love it. Show them support. Especially the ones that don’t charge. Because for those of us that don’t, our only payment, is your feedback. Even constructive criticism is greatly appreciated by damn near every writer I can think of. Because even that shows that you read it, absorbed it, and thought about it enough to have something to actually say about it.

The same thing goes for artists and voice actors. You see a drawing or animation you enjoy? Comment. Like. Share. You see a character in an anime or a game and you love their voice? Go check out their voice actor, maybe they do some other cool stuff, and you might just discover your new favorite series or streamer. A perfect example is Alejandro Saab. I became a fan of his through his astounding performance in several series dear to me, and lo and behold, he’s also a streamer I enjoy. Same story with Aleks Le, or Ray Chase. Yuri Lowenthal, Lizzie Freeman, Landon Mcdonald, Zeno Robinson, the list goes on. But seriously, it’s not that much effort to just show a little love to the creators you enjoy. The people who breathe life into the series’ that we all hold dear. AI does not breathe that life. Using AI, and supporting those companies, will destroy those pillars of our community. And if that happens, the AI would crumble too, it would have no new information to use. SO really, what’s the benefit? I’ll tell you. There is none.

Stop using AI. All it does is bring harm and slowly kill our community. It’s disgusting, appalling, and downright fucking egregious.
