This is Aziz, a disabled Palestinian, who has been advocating for himself and his family to get out of Gaza and to safety in Egypt. He has almost lost his life on countless occasions. Five days ago, on his tiktok (help.aziz), Aziz explained that he has been infected with hepatitis A and that his condition is worsening, so it is extremely important that we act now and share and donate. I was thinking about how we’re all treating 2025 like it’s a magic spell, like flipping the calendar will fix everything. It reminded me of an old story about a farmer on the border between Russia and Poland. For years he didn’t know which country his land belonged to and when he finally found out it was Poland he celebrated no more brutal Russian winters. But the winters didn’t care about borders. The snow kept coming same as always and it’s the same with a new year. My family in Gaza doesn’t get a break just because the calendar changes. The hardships continue and so does the unbearable weight of not knowing. Two of my cousins were taken by the IDF a week ago, and we still don’t know where they are. Not knowing is unbearable. But even in the toughest winters people like you bring light. Every donation, every share of our story, every kind word has made the impossible feel possible. Because of you we’ve survived. Winter has arrived…

Its coldness, unsettling stillness, and relentless rains have taken over. Last night was harsh, as the heavy rain flooded our humble tents, leaving behind nothing but cold and suffering.

My children, their small bodies can no longer endure this piercing cold. All I can do is hold them close, but even that is no longer enough to shield them from the cruelty of this weather. Our tiny tent, barely offering us shelter, stands less than 100 meters away from the sea. The crashing waves and roaring winds create a daily battle for us, amplifying the fear in my children during the darkness of the night.

This morning, we woke up to the same exhausting reality. I don’t know if this suffering will ever end or if it will repeat with every new sunrise. Sometimes I wonder: does tomorrow hold any hope for us, or is it just another chapter of pain?

These are not just words, but glinnmpses of the reality of my life and the suffering of my children, for which I can find no solution.

Here's an updated Salah posted last night, after he and his family were displaced for the sixth time:

Please help us, we are being subjected to genocide in Gaza. Hours ago, a house was bombed next to the place where we are and escaped death miraculously. Help us get out of Gaza in order to preserve our children.

Though Salah and Manar started out with the hopes of rebuilding, they've now made the difficult choice to begin saving up for an evacuation. Their campaign, however, is still very low on funds, and its been stagnating completely for the last few days, leaving them with barely enough for their immediate survival.
