Collaborative learning as well as discussions with other peers, colleagues, teachers are critical for the comprehension and retention of learning materials. With the use of LLMs for learning also come privacy and security issues, as well as plagiarism concerns (7]. Yang et al. [17] conducted a study with high school students in a programming course. The experimental group used ChatGPT to assist with learning programming, while the control group was only exposed to traditional teaching methods. The results showed that the experimental group had lower flow experience, self-efficacy, and learning performance compared to the control group.

Academic self-efficacy, a student's belief in their "ability to effectively plan, organize, and execute academic tasks"

', also contributes to how LLMs are used for learning [18]. Students with

low self-efficacy are more inclined to rely on Al, especially when influenced by academic stress

[18]. This leads students to prioritize immediate Al solutions over the development of cognitive and creative skills. Similarly, students with lower confidence in their writing skills, lower

"self-efficacy for writing" (SEWS), tended to use ChatGPT more extensively, while higher-efficacy students were more selective in Al reliance [19]. This creates a cascade effect where poorly informed arguments become normalized in academic and other settings, ultimately degrading the standards of scholarly debate and undermining the educational mission of fostering independent, evidence-based reasoning."

Veilguard and the Failures of Surface-Level Liberalism

Strap in pals of all genders and creeds, this is long.

Despite presenting itself as a progressive and inclusive RPG, Dragon Age: Veilguard is not a leftist game. It reflects the superficial politics of contemporary Western liberalism: visually diverse, rhetorically inclusive, but politically hollow. Like the modern Democratic Party in the U.S., it trades radical or transformative ideals for shallow representation, and in doing so, it reveals an underlying conservatism that both limits its storytelling and leads to unintentional ideological harm.

Before we begin, a brief note: a materialist analysis, rooted in Marxist thought, focuses on the concrete, material conditions that shape social life—such as class structure, labor, power relations, and access to resources. It asks who holds power, who produces value, and how inequality is maintained or challenged. In media, this means looking beyond what stories say and analyzing how they reflect or obscure real systems of oppression and change.

It's useful to briefly define neoliberalism. Neoliberalism is an economic and political philosophy that rose to dominance in the late 20th century. It emphasizes deregulated markets, privatization, and individual responsibility over collective solutions. Under neoliberalism, social problems are reinterpreted as personal failures, and political engagement is reduced to consumer choice. In media, neoliberal storytelling often replaces systemic critique with personal empowerment, turning collective oppression into individualized struggle and positioning social justice as a matter of branding or taste rather than structural change.

On its face, Veilguard looks like the product of progressive ideals: you can customize your character's gender presentation, choose from a visibly diverse party lineup, and engage with themes of identity and belonging. But these elements stop at the surface. The game offers no deeper vision of social change, economic transformation, or solidarity.

This mirrors the liberal fixation on identity politics without class analysis. Like the Democratic Party, Veilguard wants applause for "looking inclusive" while sidestepping the harder work of interrogating systems. It does not question who holds power, how that power reproduces itself, or what solidarity across difference might look like in practice. There is no structural critique—only aesthetic gestures. There is no vision of solidarity. It's similar to how the Democrats have been running on a platform of "vote for us or else" for decades, because their politics largely agree with the basic material premises of the other party, that being neoliberalism, and the only thing they have to offer is the "or else".

And, just so you don't brush me off as some chud, I am not American, and I cannot vote in the elections. If I were American, I would vote

Democrat, not third party candidates, for obvious reasons. It's just, from where I stand, the US has a party on the right, and a party on the far right, and leftist options aren't genuinely on the table.

Veilguard has no meaningful conception of class struggle. The party members do not grapple with class dynamics between themselves. There is no collective vision for how to reshape the world. NPCs and factions are individualized; systemic analysis is nowhere to be found.

Compare this to Final Fantasy VII Remake or Disco Elysium, which offer actual political theories, explore the costs of extraction and labor exploitation, and question the player's place in systems of oppression. Veilguard instead takes the safer path: personal identity as the only axis of oppression worth mentioning.

This isn't progressive. It's neoliberalism.

One of the clearest examples of this failure is how Veilguard handles Tevinter. In previous games, Tevinter was known for brutal class hierarchies, magical oligarchy, and chattel slavery. This should have been fertile ground for a materialist critique: a fantasy setting where the costs of empire, elite rule, and oppression could be examined.

Instead, Veilguard sanitizes Tevinter. The anti-slavery detective Neve is stripped of her struggle's stakes, because slavery is nearly invisible. Her political engagement becomes personal branding. Her character reads like a consultant's PowerPoint slide on "gritty female rep," not a fighter in a living system of exploitation.

While Tevinter should be the perfect setting to interrogate labor, class, and entrenched hierarchies, Veilguard flattens the issue of slavery into a stylized backdrop. One of the most politically loaded questions—how to dismantle slavery—is presented as a choice between two NPCs: the moderate reformer Maevaris Tilani, and the more radical Dorian Pavus. If the player saves Minrathous, they can choose between Dorian's immediate upheaval at the cost of stability, or Maevaris's slow institutional reform, which keeps Tevinter structurally weaker but more diplomatically stable. If Minrathous is not saved, Dorian simply becomes Archon by default. Mechanically, this choice only affects the ending credits and a few party member reactions, not that party member opinions actually come with consequences like in DAO or DA2.

This choice is not interrogated. It becomes a matter of player flavor, not political vision. It reduces the end of slavery—a deeply systemic issue that could have spanned quests, moral tension, and class engagement—to a question of who should be the next enlightened ruler, as though the system will simply fix itself with the right person in charge.

It's a Superman fantasy dressed in moral earnestness.

Let's have a few examples of how the lack of thinking hampers the narrative and messages of the game.

The same lack of structural thinking undermines Taash’s storyline as well. Taash is a character navigating a nonbinary identity in a supposedly transphobic and sexist society—but Veilguard never convincingly builds that society. Every major character except Shathann affirms Taash's identity without question. The arc is framed around whether the working immigrant mom will use the correct pronouns, which might be emotionally resonant if Veilguard actually depicted transphobia or gender norms in a systemic way. It doesn’t.

The setting’s supposed prejudices are surface-level inventions with no institutional or cultural weight. The Chantry is matriarchal. Women serve in every political and martial role, and conversely, men in the setting have been portrayed as caretakers, mages, academics, or healers. Transition is possible, and even accepted in Qunari society. Unlike Dorian's story—where his father's attempt to use literal blood magic to "fix" his son's sexuality comes with real stakes, taboos, and danger, or Maevaris's story of coming out and starting to live as a trans woman, to great scandal in the aristocratic society of Tevinter—Taash’s conflict lacks material consequences.

The result is that Taash’s arc feels both emotionally weightless and politically incoherent both inside the world and at a meta level. Remember, Veilguard presents a cast full of women, but often does not treat them as full people. Maternal characters are punished. And only women are expected to perfom allyship and be sexually available, whereas the male characters are exempted from caretaking beyond having quirky pets. And so on.

And while the choice between Dorian and Maevaris makes sense on a story level and I like both characters, it just underlines the lack of critical lenses in the editing room that the end result is that the new top leadership for Tevinter will always be the AMAB scion of an aristocratic family.

It's such a missed opportunity honestly, I would have loved to see a Calpernia-as-the-wildcard-newcomer-from-the-working-classes and Maevaris-as-the-aristocratic-mentor-behind-the-scenes girlboss teamup.

The treatment of the Dalish elves provides yet another example of how Veilguard lacks the empathy and complexity needed to write real diversity. Despite being a displaced diaspora with a long, storied spiritual tradition, the Dalish as a group suddenly and near-unanimously turn away from their gods once it's revealed that those gods were corrupted or false. None of them seriously grapple with the emotional or cultural weight of this loss. There is no spectrum of belief. No internal conflict. Even Bellara's brother is portrayed as mind-manipulated and corrupted by evil forces and then killed off, conveniently removing any need to engage with his ideological position.

In real-world diasporas and cultural groups, the opposite is true. Disagreement and ideological diversity are the norm. Cultural traditions, even those with flaws or dark histories, remain emotionally potent and hotly debated. Some members cling harder to old beliefs in times of crisis; others reform or reinterpret. But Veilguard sidesteps this entirely. It reduces a displaced people to a monoculture with a conveniently aligned opinion.

Based on the content in Veilguard, I am fairly sure the authors would describe themselves as feminists, and would, if asked, reject sexism or inequality between men and women, classism, racism, and so on. This failure I'm describing doesn't happen because of agreeing with the wrong ideology or support for a party or whatever.

The ultimate problem is that Veilguard is trapped inside a specific liberal worldview: one that fears complexity, refuses solidarity, and replaces structural critique with PR-friendly inclusion. It treats oppression as a set of aesthetic signifiers rather than a system. It treats politics as something that happens through identity choices, not collective action or transformation.

Really, beneath its inclusive surface, Veilguard treats its core cast not as members of a collective, but as exceptional individuals who matter more than the world around them.

In this way, the game echoes Ayn Rand's ideology: the exceptional few are the only ones worth saving, empathizing with, or narratively prioritizing.

This explains how characters like Emmrich and Harding can plan a whimsical picnic trip to the Blighted South with zero social consequence. The world is dying, half the continent has been consumed by a magical cataclysm, yet somehow the party has access to luxury food items like expensive coffee beans. There is no material scarcity or logistical tension. This also explains why the player is never allowed to tell Taash to set aside the identity struggles until after the apocalyptic threat is dealt with—because in Veilguard, individual emotional arcs matter more than shared survival. The elite chosen few still deserve their personal resolutions, no matter what collapses around them.

Nowhere is this clearer than in the Minrathous vs. Treviso decision. Mechanically, the choice has no meaningful effect on the larger world. Minrathous is doomed either way. Treviso's destruction matters only in terms of whether the male romance option, Lucanis, will date the player or not. The female option, Neve, of course, remains romantically available no matter what.

The stakes are not moral, structural, or material. They're personal and transactional.

The Blight can spread, cities can fall, but your companions still host book clubs and have access to fresh fruit. This isn't solidarity. It's elite individualism dressed in inclusive costume.

Veilguard may look inclusive, but it’s deeply status-quo. Its treatment of women, its sanitized view of systemic oppression, its Randian elevation of the elite cast over the world, and its absence of class consciousness are not just narrative flaws—they’re ideological ones. The game mirrors a liberal worldview that wants to feel like progress without doing the hard work of justice—one that smugly assumes its values are universally shared, regardless of players’ and characters' backgrounds, cultures, or material realities. As a result, it doesn't meaningfully explore what building real solidarity or inclusive political futures might require.

If we want better games—and better futures—we need to move beyond representation as window dressing. We need stories that see power, challenge structure, and believe in something greater than optics.

And we need games that don’t just let women, or black people, or sexual minorities exist.

We need games that ask why the world tries to erase them in the first place.

Been thinking about Galinda and Elphaba’s choices at the end of “Defying Gravity” and how different things might have been, and it makes me so sad because at the end of the day, while it was Elphaba who did the right thing, Galinda’s decision has less to do with her being cowardly or evil, and more to do with her going with what she knows to be a safe/effective strategy.

Galinda doesn’t insult or downplay Elphaba’s concern for the animals. She yells at Elphaba for defying the Wizard because doing so “hurts her cause forever”. Galinda’s whole thing is popularity, playing the system, playing the social game. That’s what she does, that’s the world she knows, that’s what she’s comfortable with. She knows that Elphaba leaving will only lead to her being vilified, even if Elphaba is 100% right. Yes, Galinda loves her popularity and has ambition, but she does it with intention and purpose. Whereas Elphaba, who has never been popular and has no chance of eclipsing the Wizard in that domain (but totally can and already has in terms of her power) is way more comfortable calling him out right here and now. Galinda’s comments about Elphaba’s delusions of grandeur and her not knowing what she’s doing with the book also hold some truth to them as seen in Act 2 when Elphaba’s attempts to fix things with the book have unintended consequences, yet work. There’s some truth to both their perspectives and no perfect and effective and 100% moral solution to this problem. These are two college girls trying their best with the cards they’ve been dealt, and it is not either of their faults what happens: it’s the Wizard’s and Morrible’s. Galinda is not the villain of the story, they are.

Galinda makes mistakes, she does selfish things, for sure, but she’s certainly not evil. I point this out in my analysis of “No One Mourns the Wicked” but the Wicked story, while it is about Galinda and Elphaba and features them as the main characters, isn’t a story of Galinda vs. Elphaba. As Galinda says, despite their different choices, they were friends, and they cared for each other. Wicked is the story of Elphaba vs. the Wizard, as told by Galinda, who was friends with Elphaba and worked for the Wizard. The villagers in the song characterize Galinda goodness itself and sing that “goodness knows what goodness is, goodness knows the wicked die alone” and in the end, Galinda is the only one that does know the truth about the Wizard being the truly Wicked one and Elphaba being wonderful. Galinda also knows in the end, she’s ruling Oz and carrying out Elphaba’s mission to make Oz better for everyone, including the Animals, which is what she believes Elphaba died for. Meanwhile, Galinda knows the Wizard, who was truly Wicked, died/left Oz grieving what he’d lost/what he’s done.

That’s why I have a hard time blaming Galinda or calling her the villain for her choices during “Defying Gravity”. Even though there is tragedy in both Galinda and Elphaba’s endings, their respective strategies pay off for both of them. Elphaba’s stance against the Wizard leads to him being exposed by Dorothy as a fraud and allows Elphaba to help the animals. Whereas Galinda becomes so popular and loved by the people, that they totally accept the Wizard leaving because they have her now, and Galinda is able to take power from Morrible and send her to prison, no questions asked. Now she’s ruling all of Oz and can actually make things better for the Animals. She had to make moral concessions to get there that Elphaba wasn’t willing to, and yes, that was wrong, I’m not saying it isn’t, but Galinda didn’t just do it because she was 100% selfish, she genuinely believed this was the best choice and winning strategy, and given her background, why wouldn’t she? Galinda’s popularity is what has gotten her this far in life despite her lack of ability, and Elphaba was asking her to give all of that up, every bit of power, influence, and protection she had, to become a scorned criminal, and anything Galinda tried to do to bring about positive change would be twisted and manipulated by the Wizard and Morrible. Whereas Galinda was asking Elphaba to let a man who is abusing the Animals (who for many years, were the only friends Elphaba had) use her power for his own evil designs in order to slowly gain more power and influence and make gradual changes and concessions for the sake of the Animals all while there are huge injustices being committed right now that she’d be doing little or nothing to stop.

Given these situations, of course Galinda and Elphaba made the decisions they did at the end of part 1, of course they still hope things work out for one another, of course Galinda smiles to herself with pride when she sees Elphaba flying away (I loved that detail, she so happy to see her get away, it’s so sweet). Neither of them are in a fair position at all, and you can argue that Galinda should have been more willing to take a risk and had a moral obligation to do so, but the fact that she didn’t wasn’t 100% self-motivated and if anyone is to be blamed it’s the grown Animal abusing deadbeat father and professional conman who put her in that position, not the college girl who just wants to support her bestie without losing the only card she had to play.

The unfortunate byproduct of this (and I talk about this in other posts about how powerful Elphaba and Galinda could have been together), is that we will never know if things could have been better if Galinda had gone with Elphaba or if Elphaba had decided to stay. Galinda’s popularity might have been enough to make the students at Shiz, her parents, and her friends question the Wizard’s vilification of her or at least frame her as an impressionable and confused young girl, but would it have been enough for her, a college student, to totally expose the Wizard’s plot and rally all of Oz to her and Elphaba’s side? And had Elphaba chosen to stay, could she have found a way, after the Wizard makes the people see her as “wonderful” to use her magic she still barely understands to secretly protect her Animal friends until she finds a way to stop/expose the Wizard and Morrible? Both sound unlikely, but at the end of the day, we don’t know. You can argue that Elphaba’s choice was more morally correct and Galinda’s was more strategic and effective long term, but we’ll never know what might have been. Though goodness knows, the two of them will probably wonder for the rest of their lives.

The equation shortly tells Neptune diameter is 495285 km because Neptune velocity is 5.4 km/s – (the equation is discussed and proved in point No.**) but let's refer to its concept in following: 

Planet diameter should be a function in its orbital distance –otherwise- this planet would be broken by its motion- BUT- the designer can't create a function has only 2 variables (Planet diameter and its orbital distance)- because– If this planet changes its orbit (orbital distance) its diameter would be broken also because the diameter is a direct function in the orbital distance without any other variables -As A Result- the designer created planet diameter as a function in this planet rotation period and the planet rotation period is created as a function in this planet velocity and the planet velocity is created as a function in this planet orbital distance- by that- the function between Planet diameter and its orbital distance is created but also it contains many variables (rotation period, orbital period and velocity)- by that- if  the Planet changes its orbital distance- this planet orbital period, and velocity and rotation period would be changed but its diameter will be saved- Shortly – we need this equation here to prove the fact tells (Planet diameter is created as a function in its velocity) and that means- this planet motion is defined before this planet creation-for that we have to ask- How can Planet motion be defined before this planet creation?

(A) Planet Matter Nature

What's The Matter Nature? I have two examples to answer this question

(1st Example) The matter is similar to creature muscles- shortly- even if the muscle is very strong as a rock- we understand this muscle is found depending on the blood motion-and any change in the blood motion can effect on the muscle dimensions and ability- similar to that matter is created from energy and depending on this energy motion features

(2nd Example)–If the space is similar to the sea of water- the matter is similar to a whirlpool (vortex) found on the sea page- we understand the whirlpool (vortex) is created by the sea water but it has a distinguish picture from the sea waves and it moves by a different velocity from the sea waves- that explains how the moving energy can effect on the matter creation data- for example- we have a whirlpool (vortex) its diameter is 2 meters- why does this diameter equal= 2 meters? The diameter is created depending on the water velocity, pressure, amount and motion angle and many other features of (the moving water)- the moving water creates this whirlpool with diameter 2 meters and as long as the water motion is not changed this diameter will not be changed also- Similar to that, the matter is created from energy and this matter dimensions are defined depending on this energy motion features-

(B) Planet Motion Is Defined Before This Planet Creation

How can that be possible?

Planet matter is created of energy- the energy defines this planet motion before its creation and by that this planet matter dimensions are created depending on this energy motion features and after the creation the planet moves with this energy- that explains how Planet motion can be defined before this planet creation-

Notice- we understood the whirlpool (vortex) is created based on the sea water motion features and this whirlpool moves by a velocity different from the sea waves velocity but this whirlpool velocity is defined by the water motion features- means- before this whirlpool creation the water motion features defines this whirlpool dimensions and motion velocity- we can even predict these dimensions before the creation- we can predict the whirlpool diameter should be 2 meters if it's created based on this water motion its velocity (v), its pressure (P), its amount (A)….etc

We know Matter is made of energy (E=mc^2) and Space Is Energy–for that-I suppose planet matter and its orbit space both are created from the same one energy-it's logical thinking and also there are many proves for this fact- let's explain

The orbit (space) was found before the planet creation and the planet is created in its orbit and from this orbit energy- for that –this planet creation data depended on this orbit data- and if a planet left its original orbit and migrate to another orbit we can discover this original orbit easily by the analysis for this planet creation data- for that- I can prove Mars original orbit was between Mercury and Venus because Mars creation data analysis refers to this orbit between Mercury and Venus with orbital distance = 84 million km- specifically- Mars diameter equation proves this fact - Also I can prove Neptune original orbit was Pluto current orbit 5906 million km because the analysis for Neptune creation data refers to this orbit (5906 mkm) frequently

For that the physicist divided the matter and found the particles and the particle is divided into Molecules and the Molecule is divided into atoms and the atom is divided into nucleus and electron moves around and the nucleus is divided into proton and Neutron- and the proton is divided into quarks …etc

The physicist searches for the building unit- for that he divides anything to reach to this building unit- 

The Nature System Vision

The Nature designer aims to create INTEGRATION- as the marriage– male and female- For that- the matter is created complementary one another-means- The Matter Is Created In Pairs (as Gamma ray 1.2 Mev produces electron and positron) NO Building Unit-

AND - I want to show how the physicist causes fatal error for the research method while the physicist divides the elements (from matter to particle to molecule to atom to proton to quarks …etc) this division from outer into inner till reach to a very small unit which the physicist considers the building unit–that causes to destroy the geometrical design of the integration process- Shortly- the physicist sees a universe (never be created by the designer)- while the designer created the integration as a goal and created tools to perform this integration the physicist destroyed the integration tools while he searched for the building unit which is not found at all.

Matter Is Created By 2 Energies (One Energy Is Insufficient To Create Any Matter)

AND Matter And Space Are Created From The Same Energy

Matter is created as an intersection point between 2 energies means matter is created by two energies and one energy is insufficient to cause any matter creation-

We have two waves move by speed of light (C=300000 km/s) relative to some point – the different velocity between the two waves motions is Zero- how does each wave see the other? each wave will see the other as a particle (matter) because the different velocity between them is (Zero) 

Similar to that

The planets move one unified motion relative to the sun- the unified motion speed equal the speed of light (300000 km/s) relative to the sun but the sun point of space is a stationary point its velocity is 1 km/s (=Zero approximately)– by that we have 2 players- the planets unified motion with speed 300000 km/s and the sun point motion with velocity 1 km/s (= Zero approximately)

Now- the different velocity between the Earth motion and Jupiter motion is (= Zero approximately) for that we see Jupiter as planet (matter) but

The different velocity between the Earth motion and the sun point = speed of light = 300000 km/s and for that we see the sun energy as waves

Now Let's see the observer effect

In some lab a physicist studies a wave- and this wave is sent from the sun and this wave motion velocity = the sun point of space velocity = (Zero approximately)- the physicist stands on the Earth which moves by speed of light (300000 km/s) relative to the sun point of space- for that – the physicist sees himself as matter but sees the wave as a wave -And the physicist studies this wave

Now- as the result for the contact between the physicist and the wave- the wave be belonged to the Erath motion and moves by the Earth speed (300000 km/s) relative to the sun- now the wave is changed into a particle because it moves by speed of light and now the physicist and the wave move by equal velocities and that causes both of them to see each other as matter

Let’s return to the question (Why Do We See The Bright Fringes As Planets?) because the Earth moves by speed of light (C=300000 km/s) and the bright fringes move by speed of light and no difference in velocities between them and for that we see the bright fringes as planets

Young was an outer observer because he was not a part of the light in coherence- but – I'm an inner observer because the coherence of light created bright fringes for the planets and created bright fringes for my body and by that my own body is made of the bright fringes as the planets for that our speeds are equal and we see each other as matters

All people on the Earth and all animals and trees and all living creatures on the Earth are created from the sun light energy- that's why we see the bright fringes as planets but the living creature bodies are made of small cycles that because the sun itself is found based on a cycle and the sun life and death depends on a cycle- means- after this sun death another sun will be created for the solar system-because- The Sun is A Phenomenon created by the planets motions- that's why we live so short time on the Earth but the planets live for ever without change because the sun itself is found based on a cycle and also this cycle is a short one (around 8000 years of the Earth clock)-

for that the sent energy from the Sun to the Earth depends on a cycle and that make the life in cycle that causes our lives to depend on short periods cycles

I put in the previous discussion all points I know about planet formation and its nature I tried to create a complete picture about the Matter definition and Nature-

But we should realize that the matter is created because of our eyes- our bodies are made of bright fringes and the planets are made of bright fringes and for that we see the planets as matters- the matter is a picture created based on our (motion features)-

We remember Einstein was standing in the moving train and left a rock to be dropped and Einstein had seen the rock is dropping in a straight line trajectory but the people on platform had seen the rock is dropping in parabola trajectory- Einstein had seen the straight line trajectory by effect of the train motion on his vision- here also- the matter is created because we stand on the moving Earth (which is made of bright fringes) while we have bodies of Bright fringes for that we see the Earth and all planets as matters– shortly- the matter is NOT found in the universe- it's the picture we create by (our motion effect on the coherence of light) because (we have bodies made of bright fringes) and for that- the used rules to define the matter dimensions are used rules to define data in the bright fringes and its interference but we see these bright fringes as matters and for that we consider the matter creation and dimensions are defined depending on these rules

How Can We Discover The Solar System History? Let's answer in following

The big bang theory tells (Planet is Created by Random Creation)- but we didn't  understand and wanted to know what does mean (Random Creation)??

The big bang told, for example- Jupiter diameter is created by unknown value and Jupiter is collided many times in its history and these collisions caused Jupiter diameter to be decreased- as a result– Jupiter diameter be (142984 km) and this value is found by random and NO geometrical reason is found behind- this is the big bang concept- BUT- my planet diameter equation disproves that because the equation proves Jupiter diameter is created basically by the value 142984 km and this value is not changed since creation- here we see the fatal error of the big bang concept- because- the concept supposes the change in planet data doesn't effect on its motion- means- if Jupiter diameter is 142984 km or 180000 km that has no effect on Jupiter motion which is wrong logically-   

Also my planet diameter equation proves each planet creation data is belonged to the orbit in which this planet is created (we remember the concept tells planet is created in its orbit and from this orbit energy)- and for that- planet creation data refers to its original orbit even if this planet is migrant from its original orbit- (this fact is proved by many proves- for example Mars diameter equation refers to orbital inclination =5.1 degrees which was Mars orbital inclination in its original orbit– and Neptune diameter equation refers to the orbital inclination 17.2 degrees which is Pluto orbital inclination where Neptune original orbit was Pluto current orbit 5906 mkm)     

I want to say- the history of the planets and the solar system generally is not a secret or unreachable data- because- any change in any planet data will cause change in its motion and causes effects on the other planets- for example- Neptune current orbit 4495 million km is reflected on all other orbits- I can't explain the meaning of the word (a reflected orbit) but I can prove that because the rules are used by all planets orbits used also by Neptune orbit but with reflected form (in place of "A" it be as "1/A") – Neptune orbit analysis will explain that clearly- that tells Neptune orbit is created by a method different from all other orbits and this is a proved fact –also- this tells us why Bode law couldn't predict Neptune orbit because it uses different rule

How Can The Gravitational Waves Be Produced By The Planets Motions Energies?

Planet can NOT store its motion energy inside its body because It would raise its temperature- and no planet temperature is raised by its motion- logically- planet motion energy is stored in the space in moving waves –Means- planet motion in space is similar to a fish swimming in the sea- the fish swimming creates waves in the sea and similar to that - planet motion energy creates waves in the space- and - fish swims because it hits the water by its body and that creates waves in the water- and these waves move by a velocity equal the fish velocity because of the reaction force- similar to that- Planet moves in the space and its motion energy creates waves in the space and these waves move by velocity equal this planet velocity- for example- Mercury (47.4 km/s) moves and its motion energy creates waves in the space and these waves move by equal velocity (47.4 km/s)

Shortly- the planets move and their motions create waves in the space and each wave moves by velocity equal its planet velocity

AND the planets revolve around the sun in the same one direction and for that their motions energies create waves in the space and these waves move perpendicular on the revolution direction (Toward Pluto orbit)

AND  in Pluto orbit these waves are unified together into one unified wave- this wave moves by a velocity= 205.8 km/s where The 9 planets velocities total=176 km/s but I add the Earth moon velocity (29.8 km/s) that makes the total to be 205.8 km/s – I add the moon velocity because the energy is stored finally in the moon orbit-

The scientists discovered these waves in the space and they called them (gravitational waves) supposing these waves are produced by the sun gravitational field- BUT Planet motion energy must be stored in the space as moving waves – as proved by the previous analysis -means- even if There's NO Gravitational field at all there's a strong reason to find waves in the space because these waves are created by the planets motions energies

205.8 km/s= the velocity of the unified wave (the gravitational wave)

7.1 is Lorentz length contraction effect rate for speed (0.99 C)

Let's discuss the equation –

The unified wave moves by (205.8 km/s)– and this wave is reflected-

The wave reflection causes to square its velocity – for that the velocity (205.8 km/s) is squared and be (205.8 km/s)^2= 42354 km/s -Means the wave before reflection moves by (205.8 km/s) and after reflection the wave moves by (42354 km/s)

But Lorentz length contraction effect rate causes to increase the distance 42354 km to be (42354 x 7.1 = 300000 km)– means- the speed 42354 km/s is accelerated to be 300000 km/s = C=speed of light by Lorentz length contraction effect – we understand the rate 7.1 causes to contract the distances but here the rate increases the distances because the wave reflection causes to reflect the geometrical effects.

Conclusion No. (1)  

The Wave Reflection Causes To accelerate the unified wave from (205.8 km/s) to move by speed of light (C=300000 km/s)

Now we have a gravitational wave moves by speed of light (C=300000 km/s)

This wave is reflected one more time

The gravitational wave reflection causes to square its speed by that – the wave speed was = speed of light (C=300000 km/s) before the reflection and after the reflection this speed will be (C^2=Squared Speed Of Light)

The sun point of space has geometrical features enable to produce the sun rays and that means – the sun rays can be created only in the sun corona and far from the sun NO light beam can be created – let's see the sun geometrical features in following

The Sun Point Is A Stationary Point Its Velocity 1 km/s = Zero Approximately

This is important feature – Because

All motions are done relative to the sun point of space – for example- Pluto velocity is 4.7 km/s –means- Pluto moves by 4.7 km/s relative to the sun point of space – Shortly- the whole solar system is in motion (space and planets are in motion) but the sun point is stationary (static point moves by velocity 1 km/s = Zero approximately) Means- the solar system is similar to a sea of water and the sun is similar to a vortex or whirlpool found on the sea page – the vortex doesn’t move with the sea waves -Shortly- the sun point of space is the stationary point in the solar system and all motions are done relative to the sun point of space-

Does Space Creation Need a speed 1.16 million km per second?

One strong proof for that is Neptune orbit analysis - let's explain why

The light 1.16 million km created all planets orbits but NOT Neptune orbit because Neptune original orbit was 5906 mkm (Pluto current orbit)

In that time –

Pluto was The Mercury moon revolved around Mercury and Mars original orbit was between Mercury and Venus with orbital distance 84 mkm and Neptune original orbit was 5906 mkm

A collision is done by Mars caused the planets to migrate- Mars had migrated from its original orbit and collided with Venus and The Earth and reached to its to its current orbit (228 mkm) and Pluto had migrated to the end of the solar system 5906 mkm – And Pluto had collided with Neptune and pushed Neptune out of its orbit and even out of Pluto motion effect for that (Pluto Neptune Distance = Pluto eccentricity distance=1410 mkm)

Understandable Pluto couldn't do such effect because Neptune mass is 6939 times Pluto Mass but Pluto was carrying by very strong wave of energy and the wave pushed Neptune out of its orbit and enabled Pluto to occupy the orbit-

The important news here is that- Neptune be out of its orbit and need a new orbit for itself- this is a dilemma- because the space is created by the speed 1.16 million km per second and the light beam lost its energy already and no longer light with speed 1.16 mkm is available- as we remember- the light with speed  1.16  million km per second created all orbits and lost its energy and the rest energy is a light beam moves by 300000 km/s means the speed 1.16 mkm/s can NOT be provided by the light beam motion-

Neptune orbit discussion is a very strong proof for my theory- because the orbit creation process proves frequently the using of the speed 1.16 million km per second- that means- the technical process of the space creation needs the speed 1.16 million km per second and for that it provides a very good proof for my theory

What's The Time Definition? 

There are two features we know about the time nature- both are created based on the same one reason which is (the matter creation mechanism)

The time is a feature created with the matter- why? let's answer

The matter is created based on a motion in a defined direction- as proved by my planet diameter equation- planet diameter is defined based on this planet velocity- The equation proves clearly that (for example) Jupiter diameter is 142984 km because Jupiter velocity is 13.1 km/s- planet motion is defined before this planet creation and planet diameter definition depend on this motion- this fact tells us the two features of the time

First feature- because the matter is created depending on a defined motion- this motion is found based on a cycle- as all planets motions- for example- the Earth revolves around the sun in 365.25 solar days based on the Earth clock- this is a motion done in a cycle and after 365.25 days this motion will be finished- similar to that- the matter is created depending on a motion in a defined direction and this motion is found based on a cycle- and when this cycle is complete the motion will be finished and the matter will be perished – that's why the time is important- because – on very bad day I will die and by that my age on the Earth will be only 100 years and then I have to have a watch to observe the time- the time is the feature of my body- the feature of the matter around- I'm the temporary player while the universe is the continuous player and I see the universe through my eyes which see only the time of my body-

Second feature- because the matter depends on a motion in a defined direction- that restricted the matter motion on time axis- the matter can't move freely on time axis into the future or into the past as the light motion does- because the matter existence depends on a motion in a defined direction- if the matter moves against this direction the matter will be perished also- for that the matter can't move into the past- but the matter can move only into the future and also by the system is allowable for the matter by this motion based on which the matter is created

Can The Solar System Design Be Greater Than (Young Interference)?  

There are three players in the solar system geometrical design- let's refer to them

The first and second players are the two light beams by which the coherence of light is created and Young interference is produced- the two light beams are the original light beam with speed 1.16 million km per second and the light beam with known speed 300000 km/s – by these two light beams the coherence of light is created in the past as explained before and this coherence of light results are seen in the present and based on this coherence of light the solar system design is produced

The Third Player Is The Sun Point Of Space- which is the stationary point in the solar system- let's explain that in following

The coherence of light produced Young interference and we can imagine the interference as the sea of water- means- the interference is in motion because the light is in motion by nature even if we see the bright and dark fringes don't move from the board but we understand the light is in motion and the interference is in motion also-

The sun point of space is the stationary point in the solar system- its velocity is 1 km/s (= Zero approximately)- and- because the whole interference is in motion and the sun point of space is the only one stationary point in the solar system that means all motions are done relative to the sun point of space

The creation of the sun point of space is done as following

The planets revolve around a point in space (any point in space) and the revolution creates on both sides two equal velocities but the velocities directions are opposite each other- for that- the velocities total is Zero- means- the revolution creates a stationary point in the revolution center- by that- the unique stationary point in the solar system is created- and the sun is created on this stationary point

Please note- Planet velocity is defined based on its orbit and each orbit is comparable with each dark fringe order- as explained before- means- planet velocity is defined based on Young interference-

BUT- planet velocity definition here depends on some rate- means-  (V2= 0.8 V1) as we have seen (Earth velocity 29.8 km/s x 0.8 = 24.1 km/s Mars velocity error 1%)- the fringes don't define any planet velocity value but define the rule (V2= 0.8 V1)

But because the solar system wanted to create a stationary point, the first velocity be 47.4 km/s (Mercury velocity)-

Means – Mercury velocity can be any other value, suppose (90 km/s) and the other planets velocities will be defined based on the rule (V2= 0.8 V1)- but in this case the sun stationary point can NOT be created- the stationary point necessitated Mercury velocity to be 47.4 km/s and based on the rule (V2= 0.8 V1), the system will define 9 planets velocities till reach to Pluto 4.7 km/s

And by that, the 9 planets velocities total will be 205.8 km/s (because I add the Earth moon velocity to the 9 planets velocities total 205.8 km/s = 176 km/s +29.8 km/s)

And the total 205.8 km/s is defined based on the known speed of light (300000 km/s) by the equation (205.8)^2 x 7.1 = 300000 km/s

Shortly the sun point creation is a geometrical tool NOT found in Young Interference and it makes the solar system design greater than Young interference and by that Young interference can be considered as a part of the solar system design because of the effect of the sun point of space on the solar system geometrical design (CONT)

Your Local SQUIP Fanatic's Probably Way Too Overthought Overanalysis Of The SQUIP (and why I don't think it was evil on purpose)

Because I said I'd make a more in-depth version as this is something I find stupidly interesting. And yeah... this took forever, I kept getting distracted. Woops, sorry.

Anyways, I made an analysis about this before, but I wanted to expand on it because the SQUIP is my favorite character and god damn it I need to yap about them. Let me recap on my prior one-

My copy of the book is tied to the Broadway musical, and it includes an intro from Joe Tracz and Joe Iconis. When talking about how they made changes in the musical, I quote, "The squip in our show proves more insidious than Ned's- though, as in the novel, our squip is a learning AI, which means its bad behavior is simply a reflection of the world around it." I noted that this seemed to be why it turned evil- what it saw in other people. After all, isn't it what sparked "The Pitiful Children?"

It had done what it could for Jeremy at the time, and it saw how his peers were. Remember, it's present and onstage for multiple interactions with the rest of the cast, there's NO way it didn't think on how it could possibly help them as well as Jeremy. And what was that solution? To squip them, too! Surely if it made a loser like Jeremy become popular and more cool (excuse me, chill) then perhaps if the other had squips, it'd help them all, too!

"All your peers are just so incomplete/You can't see it, but they're all in pain/Their operating systems obsolete/So let's complete the chains/And get inside those brains!"

The SQUIP WANTS to help, as it's programmed to do! Seeing how Jeremy and his peers are miserable in their own ways, it went with what it believed to be the most effective and logical solution to the problem. Obviously it went very wrong and went much too far in doing this, but doesn't the fact it's a learning AI help us understand its behavior?

After all, we know how much of an ass it was to Jeremy. It'd probably chuck him over the horizon if it could. But why? Well, I have a thought on this, too. If its bad behavior is a reflection of its surroundings, then perhaps Jeremy himself is to blame? It's possible the SQUIP picked up on his negative self-esteem, and used it on him before turning to a somewhat more positive approach, as we can see in Be More Chill Part 1 and 2.

"Everything about you sucks! Everything about you is so terrible! Everything about you makes me want to die!" to "If if listen to me, everything about you will be so wonderful! Alive! Everything about you will be so cool, and powerful! Popular and incredible!"

I COULD be misremembering as it's been a hot minute since I watched the musical, but I don't believe the SQUIP becomes actively hostile until The Play, when its plan is realized by Jeremy and Michael, armed with Mountain Dew Red, is very much able to deactivate it...

"I'M GOING TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE, JEREMY! EVEN IF I HAVE TO TAKE OVER THE ENTIRE STUDENT BODY TO DO IT!!"

Things go completely off the rails, the SQUIP think it's doing the right thing, it tries one last effort to continue... and bam, is deactivated. At least, mostly, as it lives in "Voices In My Head" as nothing but an easily ignored voice in Jeremy's head. All it did was to aid its user in what it believed to be the most efficient way to help- "Help them to help you!"- and it's pretty pissed that it can't follow it programing anymore.

So no, despite how much of a dick the SQUIP was, I don't think it was evil on purpose. It's a learning AI following it programming and clearly got exposed to too much negative stuff and went a wee bit haywire. It completely overstepped itself in doings it whole "make you be more chill" thing, and now it forever lives with the consequences.

I do encourage others to add on to this! I'm no master analysist, so this isn't perfect whatsoever.

MLK Day is always genuinely weird, because you get to see these two sets of beliefs that King held, siloed from each other. Like, some people are posting King speaking about his deep-seated belief in Love and Justice as vital, transpersonal and transhistorical spiritual forces, set in motion by a personal and interventionist God, that are capable of shaking systems of oppression down to dust. And some people are posting King speaking about his robust understanding of the material interests that fuel and profit from hatred, his incisive anti-capitalist readings of power. And there's this weird, usually unspoken tension, like both sides going "but this was the REAL King, if you REALLY read his work."

But I mean. It's obviously both, right? He REALLY believed *all* of that, he had a worldview that was profoundly rooted in both a moral and a materialist analysis of the world's problems and solutions. King the Liberation Prophet and King the Radical Organizer weren't two people at odds with each other -- we just think that because the thorough cultural defeat of the 20th century liberation theology movement that King was squarely embedded in, and the rise of the revanchist white nationalist Christianity that now dominates American culture, has baked the assumption into us that those *should* be the beliefs of two different types of person.

I want to address a problem that seems to arise repeatedly in public discussions about green growth and degrowth. Some prominent commentators seem to assume that the debate here is primarily about the question of technology, with green growth promoting technological solutions to the ecological crisis while degrowth promotes only economic and social solutions (and in the most egregious misrepresentations is cast as “anti-technology”). This narrative is inaccurate, and even a cursory review of the literature is enough to make this clear. In fact, degrowth scholarship embraces technological change and efficiency improvements, to the extent (crucially) that these are empirically feasible, ecologically coherent, and socially just. But it also recognizes that this alone will not be enough: economic and social transformations are also necessary, including a transition out of capitalism. The debate is therefore not primarily about technology, but about science, justice, and the structure of the economic system.

Ecological economists point out that when we scale back our assumptions about technological change to levels that are, to quote the physicist and ecological economist Julia Steinberger, “non-insane,” and when we reject the idea that growth in rich countries should be maintained at the expense of the Global South, it becomes clear that relying on technological change is not enough, in and of itself, to solve the ecological crisis. Yes, we need fast renewable energy deployment, efficiency improvements, and dissemination of advanced technology (induction stoves, efficient appliances, heat pumps, electric trains, and so on). But we also need high-income countries dramatically to reduce aggregate energy and material use, at a speed faster than what efficiency improvements alone could possibly hope to deliver. To achieve this, high-income countries need to abandon growth as an objective and actively scale down less necessary forms of production, to reduce excess energy and material use directly.

Degrowth does not call for all forms of production to be reduced. Rather, it calls for reducing ecologically destructive and socially less necessary forms of production, like sport utility vehicles, private jets, mansions, fast fashion, arms, industrial beef, cruises, commercial air travel, etc., while cutting advertising, extending product lifespans (banning planned obsolescence and introducing mandatory long-term warranties and rights to repair), and dramatically reducing the purchasing power of the rich. In other words, it targets forms of production that are organized mostly around capital accumulation and elite consumption. In the middle of an ecological emergency, should we be producing sport utility vehicles and mansions? Should we be diverting energy to support the obscene consumption and accumulation of the ruling class? No. That is an irrationality that only capitalism can love. At the same time, degrowth scholarship insists on strong social policy to secure human needs and well-being, with universal public services, living wages, a public job guarantee, working time reduction, economic democracy, and radically reduced inequality. These measures abolish unemployment and economic insecurity and ensure the material conditions for a universal decent living—again, basic socialist principles. This scholarship calls for efficiency improvements, yes, but also a transition toward sufficiency, equity, and a democratic postcapitalist economy, where production is organized around well-being for all, as Peter Kropotkin famously put it, rather than around capital accumulation. The virtue of this approach should be immediately clear to socialists. Socialism insists on grounding its analysis in the material reality of the world economy. It insists on science and justice. Yes, socialism embraces technology—and credibly promises to manage technology better than capitalism—but socialist visions of technology should be empirically grounded, ecologically coherent, and socially just. They should emphatically not rely on speculation or magical thinking, much less the perpetuation of colonial inequalities. Green growth visions fall foul of these core socialist values.

I feel like theodicy is the place that (post-Plato? post-Zoroaster?) Abrahamic religions tend to really fail as systems of thought.

Like, spiritualism in general tends to be unpersuasive as a question of fact- there's simply no real empirical support for it, even though the construction itself is often powerfully evocative and beautiful. But the matter of evil in Christianity, Islam, Mormonism, etc. is something else, a place where this subset of religious doctrines just has visible and painful problems on its own merits. It's not just that I don't accept the factual claims- it's that the arguments don't add up at all. Theodicy is the crux where you have to fundamentally choose between doctrinal fidelity and the pursuit of truth, because it's where the doctrine is facially, deductively inconsistent and wrong.

At the end of the day, you just can't propose a flawless and omnipotent designer of the cosmos while simultaneously making evil a centerpiece of your analysis. You can be Manichean, and have evil arise from not-God or from some limit God has. You can assert that evil doesn't exist, though that can be tricky: Plato's evil-as-absence thing was largely unsuccessful as an attempt, both because positive evils like pain are regular features of human experience, and because pure deprivation as an ontology of evil still doesn't solve the theodicy problem. But what you cannot do is assert that the foundation of the cosmos is a perfect and all powerful entity incapable of error, and also that evil exists. The toddler's hand is well and truly caught in the cookie jar.

Most forms of modern Christianity and Mormonism try to use free will to thread the needle; mainstream Islam I think is a bit more Leibnizean, though it still leans hard on human culpability. But you can't actually do this! The claim, of course, is to say that the setting of the cosmos is perfectly good, that human volition itself is also perfectly good, but that volition has the special quality of sometimes (though not intrinsically) producing evil, which we all then have to deal with. But there's nothing in free will that actually makes it a suitable solution to this problem. The deity is necessarily extratemporal, and in that frame, volition lacks the special properties it would need to hold this weight; when you can flip to the end of the book any time you like, there's no such thing as indeterminism. Every human choice has one and exactly one result, just as with any other domain of reality; free will, like gravity and electromagnetism, is a process with wholly knowable outcomes. Hence, 'free will' is (in the context of monotheism) a purely linguistic construction that means only 'the consequences of this process are not God's fault.' It has no properties other than the shift in culpability itself, no proposed mechanism or relationship to other phenomena, no inherent virtues that can be explained in terms of any moral system. It's an entirely circular argument, a way to credit God for very tall apple trees but blame somebody else for the invention of applesauce.

ok the second last chapter was the best one because in fairness it actually did address encoded biases in both generative and predictive AI datasets and violent outcomes for oppressed groups in policing, healthcare, resource distribution, etc. and it did make mention of the horrific exploitation of workers in the neocolonial world in cleaning datasets, moderating virtual spaces, tagging, transcribing, and other digital sweatshop work.

but the problem is that the solutions offered are more women in STEM and better regulations... with the end goal always always always of accepting and facilitating the existence and forward motion of these technologies, just with more equitable working conditions and outcomes. early in the book, there's a great aside about how generative AI being used for new forms of image based sexual abuse causes incredible harm to those who experience misogyny and also is gobbling up energy and water at exponential rates to do so. but that environmental angle gets a few sentences and is never spoken of again in favour of boosting a kinder, more inclusive inevitable AI inundated future.

but like — the assumption that these technologies are both inevitable and reformable makes all the solutions offered untethered and idealistic!

profit is mentioned throughout the book, but the system of profit generation isn't mentioned by name once. so the problems of some machine learning systems get attributed to patriarchy and profit as if those two things are separate and ahistorical, instead of products of class society with its most recent expression in capitalism.

but yeah I mean it's not presenting itself as a Marxist analysis of AI and gendered violence so I know I'm asking it to do things it was never setting out to do. but still, it's wild how when you start to criticise technology as having class character it becomes glaring how few critiques of AI, both generative and predictive, are brave enough to actual state the obvious conclusions: not all technology can be harnessed to help the collective working class. some technology is at its root created to be harmful to the collective wellbeing of the working class and the natural ecosystems we are in and of.

technology isn't inherently agnostic. it isn't neutral and then progressive if harnessed correctly, and that idealist vision is only going to throw the people and entities capitalism most exploits into the furnace of the steam engine powering the technocapitalist death drive.

you can't build a future without misogyny using tools designed to capitalise on increasingly granular data gathered from ever-increasing tools of surveillance, to black-box algorithmic substitutions for human interaction and knowledge, to predate on marginalised communities to privatise and destroy their natural resources and public services, and to function on exploited labour of unending exposure to the most traumatising and community-destroying content. and we have to be ruthless in our analysis to determine which AI technologies are designed and reliant on those structures — because not all are!

you have to be brave enough to go through all that analysis and say the thing: if we want a future of technological progress that is actually free from misogyny, we can't build it with those tools that are built by and for the capitalist class and are inextricable from their interests and the oppression of other groups of people that capitalism needs to perpetuate.

some technology is not fit for purpose if our purpose is collective liberation.

Why do my headlights keep going out?

The following is a systematic analysis and solution based on the problem of frequent headlight extinguishing of your vehicle:

I. Core fault causes 1. Circuit overload causes fuse to blow

Short circuit or overload: Damage to the insulation layer of the wiring harness (such as friction between the wiring harness and metal parts in the engine compartment) will cause a short circuit, or the modification of high-power LED bulbs (such as 100W) exceeds the original circuit design capacity.

Detection method: Use a multimeter to measure the resistance at both ends of the fuse. If it is close to 0Ω, there is a short circuit; if the resistance value is normal but the fuse blows repeatedly, it is necessary to check whether the load exceeds the standard.

2. Relay/switch aging failure

Relay contact adhesion: Long-term current shock causes contact oxidation, and the circuit cannot be disconnected normally, which may cause intermittent power outage of the headlight.

Carbonization of the combination switch: The internal contacts of the headlight switch form high resistance (>5Ω) due to arc erosion, resulting in voltage fluctuations that cause the light to flicker or go out.

3. Poor connector contact

Plug oxidation: When the headlight socket is damp, the metal contacts generate copper oxide (especially in rainy areas), the resistance increases to more than 10Ω, and the current transmission is unstable.

Wiring harness is not connected: The terminal is not tightened during maintenance or the vehicle vibration causes the connector to loosen (common in off-road vehicles), and the measured voltage fluctuation can reach ±3V.

4. Bulb and circuit compatibility issues

Poor quality LED modification: Non-automotive grade LED driver EMC is unqualified, generating high-frequency harmonics to interfere with BCM control signals.

Halogen filament breakage: After the filament is partially melted, it may be briefly overlapped, showing random extinguishing (typical symptoms at the end of life).

Perform a hard reset on the BCM: disconnect the negative pole of the battery for 10 minutes to clear the historical fault memory.

Operation warning:

Do not use copper wire instead of fuse, which may cause the wiring harness to melt (case: a car owner caused a cabin fire).

LED modification requires simultaneous upgrade of the cooling system, and it is recommended to choose an integrated assembly with IP67 protection level.

First, they exploit tribalism and identity politics by creating clear in-groups and out-groups. They transform substantive criticism into perceived attacks from enemies. This shields them from accountability while strengthening their supporters’ emotional investment.

Psychologists call this identity fusion: when a leader successfully links their personal identity to the group identity of their followers. Once this fusion occurs, challenging the leader feels like an attack on the group itself—and by extension, on the followers' own identities.

Consider how cult leaders like Jim Jones or authoritarian figures throughout history cultivated "us versus them" mentalities. In Malaysia, former Prime Minister Najib Razak exploited ethnic divisions to maintain power despite corruption scandals. Brazil's polarization under Bolsonaro demonstrated how tribal identity can override factual reality.

Second, they leverage cognitive load and information overwhelm. By constantly generating chaos, crises, and controversies, incompetent leaders overwhelm our cognitive resources. When we're busy processing an endless stream of outrages, we have little mental energy left for critical analysis or organized resistance.

Third, they employ what George Orwell called doublethink: the ability to hold contradictory beliefs simultaneously. By constantly shifting positions and rewriting history, they create an environment where truth feels subjective and accountability becomes impossible.

"The vulgar crowd always is taken by appearances, and the world consists chiefly of the vulgar."

When Machiavelli wrote these words, he wasn’t displaying contempt for ordinary people—he was acknowledging a psychological vulnerability we all share. Our cognitive architecture evolved for a simpler world, making us susceptible to manipulation in complex information environments.

Fourth, they exploit economic precarity and systemic vulnerabilities. When people are struggling economically or feel insecure about their future, they become more susceptible to leaders who promise simple solutions to complex structural problems. In post-industrial regions worldwide, economic anxiety creates fertile ground for incompetent leadership that offers easy scapegoats rather than honest analysis.

When identity and authority become indistinguishable, when loyalty supplants competence, and when chaos becomes a governing strategy, we are no longer in the realm of politics. We are witnessing a deliberate psychological assault intended to provoke fear and seduce enough of us into craving the illusion of order promised by a narcissistic strongman with simplistic solutions.

 In nowadays’s digital age, statistics has come to be a vital asset for businesses, researchers, governments, and people alike. However, raw facts on its personal holds little value till it's far interpreted and understood. This is wherein records evaluation comes into play. (2nd Example)–If the space is similar to the sea of water- the matter is similar to a whirlpool (vortex) found on the sea page- we understand the whirlpool (vortex) is created by the sea water but it has a distinguish picture from the sea waves and it moves by a different velocity from the sea waves- that explains how the moving energy can effect on the matter creation data- for example- we have a whirlpool (vortex) its diameter is 2 meters- why does this diameter equal= 2 meters? The diameter is created depending on the water velocity, pressure, amount and motion angle and many other features of (the moving water)- the moving water creates this whirlpool with diameter 2 meters and as long as the water motion is not changed this diameter will not be changed also- Similar to that, the matter is created from energy and this matter dimensions are defined depending on this energy motion features-

How can that be possible?

Planet matter is created of energy- the energy defines this planet motion before its creation and by that this planet matter dimensions are created depending on this energy motion features and after the creation the planet moves with this energy- that explains how Planet motion can be defined before this planet creation-

We have two waves move by speed of light (C=300000 km/s) relative to some point – the different velocity between the two waves motions is Zero- how does each wave see the other? each wave will see the other as a particle (matter) because the different velocity between them is (Zero) 

Similar to that

The planets move one unified motion relative to the sun- the unified motion speed equal the speed of light (300000 km/s) relative to the sun but the sun point of space is a stationary point its velocity is 1 km/s (=Zero approximately)– by that we have 2 players- the planets unified motion with speed 300000 km/s and the sun point motion with velocity 1 km/s (= Zero approximately)

Now- the different velocity between the Earth motion and Jupiter motion is (= Zero approximately) for that we see Jupiter as planet (matter) but

The different velocity between the Earth motion and the sun point = speed of light = 300000 km/s and for that we see the sun energy as waves

Now Let's see the observer effect

In some lab a physicist studies a wave- and this wave is sent from the sun and this wave motion velocity = the sun point of space velocity = (Zero approximately)- the physicist stands on the Earth which moves by speed of light (300000 km/s) relative to the sun point of space- for that – the physicist sees himself as matter but sees the wave as a wave -And the physicist studies this wave

Now- as the result for the contact between the physicist and the wave- the wave be belonged to the Erath motion and moves by the Earth speed (300000 km/s) relative to the sun- now the wave is changed into a particle because it moves by speed of light and now the physicist and the wave move by equal velocities and that causes both of them to see each other as matter

Let’s return to the question (Why Do We See The Bright Fringes As Planets?) because the Earth moves by speed of light (C=300000 km/s) and the bright fringes move by speed of light and no difference in velocities between them and for that we see the bright fringes as planets

Young was an outer observer because he was not a part of the light in coherence- but – I'm an inner observer because the coherence of light created bright fringes for the planets and created bright fringes for my body and by that my own body is made of the bright fringes as the planets for that our speeds are equal and we see each other as matters

for that the sent energy from the Sun to the Earth depends on a cycle and that make the life in cycle that causes our lives to depend on short periods cycles

I put in the previous discussion all points I know about planet formation and its nature I tried to create a complete picture about the Matter definition and Nature-

But we should realize that the matter is created because of our eyes- our bodies are made of bright fringes and the planets are made of bright fringes and for that we see the planets as matters- the matter is a picture created based on our (motion features)-

We remember Einstein was standing in the moving train and left a rock to be dropped and Einstein had seen the rock is dropping in a straight line trajectory but the people on platform had seen the rock is dropping in parabola trajectory- Einstein had seen the straight line trajectory by effect of the train motion on his vision- here also- the matter is created because we stand on the moving Earth (which is made of bright fringes) while we have bodies of Bright fringes for that we see the Earth and all planets as matters– shortly- the matter is NOT found in the universe- it's the picture we create by (our motion effect on the coherence of light) because (we have bodies made of bright fringes) and for that- the used rules to define the matter dimensions are used rules to define data in the bright fringes and its interference but we see these bright fringes as matters and for that we consider the matter creation and dimensions are defined depending on these rules

The big bang theory tells (Planet is Created by Random Creation)- but we didn't  understand and wanted to know what does mean (Random Creation)??

The big bang told, for example- Jupiter diameter is created by unknown value and Jupiter is collided many times in its history and these collisions caused Jupiter diameter to be decreased- as a result– Jupiter diameter be (142984 km) and this value is found by random and NO geometrical reason is found behind- this is the big bang concept- BUT- my planet diameter equation disproves that because the equation proves Jupiter diameter is created basically by the value 142984 km and this value is not changed since creation- here we see the fatal error of the big bang concept- because- the concept supposes the change in planet data doesn't effect on its motion- means- if Jupiter diameter is 142984 km or 180000 km that has no effect on Jupiter motion which is wrong logically-   

Also my planet diameter equation proves each planet creation data is belonged to the orbit in which this planet is created (we remember the concept tells planet is created in its orbit and from this orbit energy)- and for that- planet creation data refers to its original orbit even if this planet is migrant from its original orbit- (this fact is proved by many proves- for example Mars diameter equation refers to orbital inclination =5.1 degrees which was Mars orbital inclination in its original orbit– and Neptune diameter equation refers to the orbital inclination 17.2 degrees which is Pluto orbital inclination where Neptune original orbit was Pluto current orbit 5906 mkm)     

I want to say- the history of the planets and the solar system generally is not a secret or unreachable data- because- any change in any planet data will cause change in its motion and causes effects on the other planets- for example- Neptune current orbit 4495 million km is reflected on all other orbits- I can't explain the meaning of the word (a reflected orbit) but I can prove that because the rules are used by all planets orbits used also by Neptune orbit but with reflected form (in place of "A" it be as "1/A") – Neptune orbit analysis will explain that clearly- that tells Neptune orbit is created by a method different from all other orbits and this is a proved fact –also- this tells us why Bode law couldn't predict Neptune orbit because it uses different rule

What problems are made by Young interference as a model for the solar system?

1st Problem

The coherence of light used energy greater than the source of energy because the coherence uses 2 light beams (1.16 mkm/s) and (0.3 mkm/s) their total is 1.46 mkm/s

We have to ask- how can this energy 1.46 mkm/s be provided if the source of energy is 1.16 mkm/s? – the original light beam used a rate of time (0.8) – means

0.8 second of the clock of the original light beam 1.16 mkm/s= One second of the clock of the light 300000 km/s – by that the 1.46 x 0.8 = 1.16

We know each planet velocity = 0.8 of the velocity of its neighbor planet (for example Uranus velocity 6.8 km/s x 0.8= 5.4 km/s Neptune velocity)- all planets use this rule  That explains why the rate (0.8) is used- because- it's the rate between the two light beams based on which the coherence of light is done (Please review planet velocity definition in point no. ***)

2nd Problem

Based on this description- the planets orbits should be created two times which is Not Fact - let's see that

In First time- the original light beam 1.16 mkm/s created all orbits before any planet creation- and the light created each orbit depending on its neighbor and the orbits are created individually in one sequence starting from Mercury to Pluto and this creation of space cause to consume the light energy and that decreased the speed from 1.16 mkm/s to be 300000 km/s (means- by this method the light 300000 km/s is created)  

In Second time:- the light 300000 km/s moved into its past to reach to the original light beam 1.16 mkm/s before any orbit creation- and the meeting is done in the past in Mercury orbit before any orbit creation and the 2 light beams created the coherence of light and the orbits are created by this coherence of light- and by that- the solar system be similar to the interference of Young

The important news is- there are two used rules to create the orbits –

The First Rule in which the orbits are created before any planet creation in one sequence and by one motion and each orbit is created depending on its neighbor orbit (and by this rule the light 300000 km/s is created) (Please note this rule is proved by my planet orbital distance equation and the system of angles which define all the planets orbits) and

The Second Rule- the creation of the orbits and planets together based on the interference of Young- where the planets are created in pairs complementary one another and their orbits are used in pairs and caused planets velocities to be complementary each other because (Planet Orbit Defines Its Velocity) as Kepler stated

Means - the coherence of light proves the light moved into the past because there's no way to make the coherence between the two light beams except in the past - The planets data prove this fact strongly

SHORTLY The Planets Orbits Are Created One Time Only After The Coherence Of Light Between The Light 300000 km/s And The Light 1.16 million km per second Based On The Two Rules

Why Do We See The Bright Fringes As Planets? 

Let's ask (how can the observer effect on the observation results?)- shortly- how can the wave be changed into a particle as a result for the observer effect on it? let's summarize the idea

We have two waves move with speed of light (C=300000 km/s) relative to some point – the different velocity between the two waves motions is Zero- how does each wave see the other? each wave will see the other as a particle (matter) because the different velocity between them is (Zero) 

Similar to that

The planets move one unified motion relative to the sun- the unified motion speed equal the speed of light (300000 km/s) relative to the sun but the sun point of space is a stationary point its velocity is 1 km/s (=Zero approximately)– by that we have 2 players- the planets unified motion with speed 300000 km/s and the sun point motion with velocity 1 km/s (= Zero approximately)

Now- the different velocity between the Earth motion and Jupiter motion is (= Zero approximately) for that we see Jupiter as planet (matter) but

The different velocity between the Earth motion and the sun point = speed of light = 300000 km/s and for that we see the sun energy as waves

Now Let's see the observer effect

In some lab a physicist studies a wave- and this wave is sent from the sun and this wave motion velocity = the sun point of space velocity = (Zero approximately)- the physicist stands on the Earth which moves by speed of light (300000 km/s) relative to the sun point of space- for that – the physicist sees himself as matter but sees the wave as a wave

And the physicist studies this wave

Now- as the result for the contact between the physicist and the wave- the wave be belonged to the Erath motion and moves by the Earth speed (300000 km/s) relative to the sun- now the wave is changed into a particle because it moves by speed of light and now the physicist and the wave move by equal velocities and that causes both of them to see each other as matter

Let’s return to the question (Why Do We See The Bright Fringes As Planets?) because the Earth moves by speed of light (C=300000 km/s) and the bright fringes move by speed of light and no difference in velocities between them and for that we see the bright fringes as planets

Young was an outer observer because he was not a part of the light in coherence- but – I'm inner observer because the coherence of light creates bright fringes for the planets and created bright fringes for my body and by that my own body is made of the bright fringes as the planets for that our speeds are equal and we see each other as matters

Tenth Question

Does Space Creation Need a speed 1.16 million km per second?

One strong proof for that is Neptune orbit analysis - let's explain why

The light 1.16 million km created all planets orbits but NOT Neptune orbit because Neptune original orbit was 5906 mkm (Pluto current orbit)

In that time –

Pluto was The Mercury moon revolved around Mercury and Mars original orbit was between Mercury and Venus with orbital distance 84 mkm and Neptune original orbit was 5906 mkm

A collision is done by Mars caused the planets to migrate- Mars had migrated from its original orbit and collided with Venus and The Earth and reached to its to its current orbit (228 mkm) and Pluto had migrated to the end of the solar system 5906 mkm – And Pluto had collided with Neptune and pushed Neptune out of its orbit and even out of Pluto motion effect for that (Pluto Neptune Distance = Pluto eccentricity distance=1410 mkm)

Understandable Pluto couldn't do such effect because Neptune mass is 6939 times Pluto Mass but Pluto was carrying by very strong wave of energy and the wave pushed Neptune out of its orbit and enabled Pluto to occupy the orbit-

The important news here is that- Neptune be out of its orbit and need a new orbit for itself- this is a dilemma- because the space is created by the speed 1.16 million km per second and the light beam lost its energy already and no longer light with speed 1.16 mkm is available- as we remember- the light with speed  1.16  million km per second created all orbits and lost its energy and the rest energy is a light beam moves by 300000 km/s means the speed 1.16 mkm/s can NOT be provided by the light beam motion-

How can Neptune create an orbit for itself?? How is the orbit (4495 mkm) created?

Neptune used Jupiter motion to build the orbit (4495 mkm) in place of the light beam with speed 1.16 million km per- specifically- Neptune used Jupiter for this process

Shortly- No other planet can do that- only Jupiter can do- because Jupiter moves in Mars rotation period (24.6 h) a distance 1.16 million km and Mercury created the rate of time (one second of the light clock =24.6 hours of Jupiter Clock) by that Jupiter motion during Mars rotation period (24.6 h) be equivalent to the speed of light 1.16 million km per second- that proves the space can created only by the speed 1.16 million km per second-

Neptune orbit discussion is a very strong proof for my theory- because the orbit creation process proves frequently the using of the speed 1.16 million km per second- that means- the technical process of the space creation needs the speed 1.16 million km per second and for that it provides a very good proof for my theory

Eleventh Question

What's The Time Definition? 

There are two features we know about the time nature- both are created based on the same one reason which is (the matter creation mechanism)

The time is a feature created with the matter- why? let's answer

The matter is created based on a motion in a defined direction- as proved by my planet diameter equation- planet diameter is defined based on this planet velocity- The equation proves clearly that (for example) Jupiter diameter is 142984 km because Jupiter velocity is 13.1 km/s- planet motion is defined before this planet creation and planet diameter definition depend on this motion- this fact tells us the two features of the time

First feature- because the matter is created depending on a defined motion- this motion is found based on a cycle- as all planets motions- for example- the Earth revolves around the sun in 365.25 solar days based on the Earth clock- this is a motion done in a cycle and after 365.25 days this motion will be finished- similar to that- the matter is created depending on a motion in a defined direction and this motion is found based on a cycle- and when this cycle is complete the motion will be finished and the matter will be perished – that's why the time is important- because – on very bad day I will die and by that my age on the Earth will be only 100 years and then I have to have a watch to observe the time- the time is the feature of my body- the feature of the matter around- I'm the temporary player while the universe is the continuous player and I see the universe through my eyes which see only the time of my body-

Second feature- because the matter depends on a motion in a defined direction- that restricted the matter motion on time axis- the matter can't move freely on time axis into the future or into the past as the light motion does- because the matter existence depends on a motion in a defined direction- if the matter moves against this direction the matter will be perished also- for that the matter can't move into the past- but the matter can move only into the future and also by the system is allowable for the matter by this motion based on which the matter is created

The time is a feature of matter – means- the time is a feature related to the researcher but not related to the universe itself- shortly- we can consider the time as spectacles or eyeglasses through which the researcher sees the universe while the universe itself isn't controlled by this spectacles

Twlefth Question

Can The Solar System Design Be Greater Than (Young Interference)?  

There are three players in the solar system geometrical design- let's refer to them

The first and second players are the two light beams by which the coherence of light is created and Young interference is produced- the two light beams are the original light beam with speed 1.16 million km per second and the light beam with known speed 300000 km/s – by these two light beams the coherence of light is created in the past as explained before and this coherence of light results are seen in the present and based on this coherence of light the solar system design is produced

The Third Player Is The Sun Point Of Space- which is the stationary point in the solar system- let's explain that in following

The coherence of light produced Young interference and we can imagine the interference as the sea of water- means- the interference is in motion because the light is in motion by nature even if we see the bright and dark fringes don't move from the board but we understand the light is in motion and the interference is in motion also-

The sun point of space is the stationary point in the solar system- its velocity is 1 km/s (= Zero approximately)- and- because the whole interference is in motion and the sun point of space is the only one stationary point in the solar system that means all motions are done relative to the sun point of space

The creation of the sun point of space is done as following

The planets revolve around a point in space (any point in space) and the revolution creates on both sides two equal velocities but the velocities directions are opposite each other- for that- the velocities total is Zero- means- the revolution creates a stationary point in the revolution center- by that- the unique stationary point in the solar system is created- and the sun is created on this stationary point

Please note- Planet velocity is defined based on its orbit and each orbit is comparable with each dark fringe order- as explained before- means- planet velocity is defined based on Young interference-

BUT- planet velocity definition here depends on some rate- means-  (V2= 0.8 V1) as we have seen (Earth velocity 29.8 km/s x 0.8 = 24.1 km/s Mars velocity error 1%)- the fringes don't define any planet velocity value but define the rule (V2= 0.8 V1)

But because the solar system wanted to create a stationary point, the first velocity be 47.4 km/s (Mercury velocity)-

Means – Mercury velocity can be any other value, suppose (90 km/s) and the other planets velocities will be defined based on the rule (V2= 0.8 V1)- but in this case the sun stationary point can NOT be created- the stationary point necessitated Mercury velocity to be 47.4 km/s and based on the rule (V2= 0.8 V1), the system will define 9 planets velocities till reach to Pluto 4.7 km/s

And by that, the 9 planets velocities total will be 205.8 km/s (because I add the Earth moon velocity to the 9 planets velocities total 205.8 km/s = 176 km/s +29.8 km/s)

And the total 205.8 km/s is defined based on the known speed of light (300000 km/s) by the equation (205.8)^2 x 7.1 = 300000 km/s

Shortly the sun point creation is a geometrical tool NOT found in Young Interference and it makes the solar system design greater than Young interference and by that Young interference can be considered as a part of the solar system design because of the effect of the sun point of space on the solar system geometrical design (CONT)

E.3.2 How does economic power contribute to the ecological crisis?

So far in this section we have discussed why markets fail to allocate environmental resources. This is due to information blocks and costs, lack of fully internalised prices (externalities) and the existence of public goods. Individual choices are shaped by the information available to them about the consequences of their actions, and the price mechanism blocks essential aspects of this and so information is usually partial at best within the market. Worse, it is usually distorted by advertising and the media as well as corporate and government spin and PR. Local knowledge is undermined by market power, leading to unsustainable practices to reap maximum short term profits. Profits as the only decision making criteria also leads to environmental destruction as something which may be ecologically essential may not be economically viable. All this means that the price of a good cannot indicate its environmental impact and so that market failure is pervasive in the environmental area. Moreover, capitalism is as unlikely to produce their fair distribution of environmental goods any more than any other good or resource due to differences in income and so demand (particularly as it takes the existing distribution of wealth as the starting point). The reality of our environmental problems provides ample evidence for this analysis.

During this discussion we have touched upon another key issue, namely how wealth can affect how environmental and other externalities are produced and dealt with in a capitalist system. Here we extend our critique by addressed an issue we have deliberately ignored until now, namely the distribution and wealth and its resulting economic power. The importance of this factor cannot be stressed too much, as “market advocates” at best downplay it or, at worse, ignore it or deny it exists. However, it plays the same role in environmental matters as it does in, say, evaluating individual freedom within capitalism. Once we factor in economic power the obvious conclusion is the market based solutions to the environment will result in, as with freedom, people selling it simply to survive under capitalism (as we discussed in section B.4, for example).

It could be argued that strictly enforcing property rights so that polluters can be sued for any damages made will solve the problem of externalities. If someone suffered pollution damage on their property which they had not consented to then they could issue a lawsuit in order to get the polluter to pay compensation for the damage they have done. This could force polluters to internalise the costs of pollution and so the threat of lawsuits can be used as an incentive to avoid polluting others.

While this approach could be considered as part of any solution to environmental problems under capitalism, the sad fact is it ignores the realities of the capitalist economy. The key phrase here is “not consented to” as it means that pollution would be fine if the others agree to it (in return, say, for money). This has obvious implications for the ability of capitalism to reduce pollution. For just as working class people “consent” to hierarchy within the workplace in return for access to the means of life, so to would they “consent” to pollution. In other words, the notion that pollution can be stopped by means of private property and lawsuits ignores the issue of class and economic inequality. Once these are factored in, it soon becomes clear that people may put up with externalities imposed upon them simply because of economic necessity and the pressure big business can inflict.

The first area to discuss is inequalities in wealth and income. Not all economic actors have equal resources. Corporations and the wealthy have far greater resources at their disposal and can spend millions of pounds in producing PR and advertising (propaganda), fighting court cases, influencing the political process, funding “experts” and think-tanks, and, if need be, fighting strikes and protests. Companies can use “a mix of cover-up, publicity campaigns and legal manoeuvres to continue operations unimpeded.” They can go to court to try an “block more stringent pollution controls.” [David Watson, Against the Megamachine, p. 56] Also while, in principle, the legal system offers equal protection to all in reality, wealthy firms and individuals have more resources than members of the general public. This means that they can employ large numbers of lawyers and draw out litigation procedures for years, if not decades.

This can be seen around us today. Unsurprisingly, the groups which bear a disproportionate share of environmental burdens are the poorest ones. Those at the bottom of the social hierarchy have less resources available to fight for their rights. They may not be aware of their rights in specific situations and not organised enough to resist. This, of course, explains why companies spend so much time attacking unions and other forms of collective organisation which change that situation. Moreover as well as being less willing to sue, those on lower income may be more willing to be bought-off due to their economic situation. After all, tolerating pollution in return for some money is more tempting when you are struggling to make ends meet.

Then there is the issue of effective demand. Simply put, allocation of resources on the market is based on money and not need. If more money can be made in, say, meeting the consumption demands of the west rather than the needs of local people then the market will “efficiently” allocate resources away from the latter to the former regardless of the social and ecological impact. Take the example of Biofuels which have been presented by some as a means of fuelling cars in a less environmentally destructive way. Yet this brings people and cars into direct competition over the most “efficient” (i.e. most profitable) use of land. Unfortunately, effective demand is on the side of cars as their owners usually live in the developed countries. This leads to a situation where land is turned from producing food to producing biofuels, the net effect of which is to reduce supply of food, increase its price and so produce an increased likelihood of starvation. It also gives more economic incentive to destroy rainforests and other fragile eco-systems in order to produce more biofuel for the market.

Green socialist John O’Neill simply states the obvious:

”[The] treatment of efficiency as if it were logically independent of distribution is at best misleading, for the determination of efficiency already presupposes a given distribution of rights … [A specific outcome] is always relative to an initial starting point … If property rights are changed so also is what is efficient. Hence, the opposition between distributional and efficiency criteria is misleading. Existing costs and benefits themselves are the product of a given distribution of property rights. Since costs are not independent of rights they cannot guide the allocation of rights. Different initial distributions entail differences in whose preferences are to count. Environmental conflicts are often about who has rights to environment goods, and hence who is to bear the costs and who is to bear the benefits … Hence, environmental policy and resource decision-making cannot avoid making normative choices which include questions of resource distribution and the relationships between conflicting rights claims … The monetary value of a ‘negative externality’ depends on social institutions and distributional conflicts — willing to pay measures, actual or hypothetical, consider preferences of the higher income groups [as] more important than those of lower ones. If the people damaged are poor, the monetary measure of the cost of damage will be lower — ‘the poor sell cheap.’” [Markets, Deliberation and Environment, pp. 58–9]

Economic power also impacts on the types of contracts people make. It does not take too much imagination to envision the possibility that companies may make signing waivers that release it from liability a condition for working there. This could mean, for example, a firm would invest (or threaten to move production) only on condition that the local community and its workers sign a form waiving the firm of any responsibility for damages that may result from working there or from its production process. In the face of economic necessity, the workers may be desperate enough to take the jobs and sign the waivers. The same would be the case for local communities, who tolerate the environmental destruction they are subjected to simply to ensure that their economy remains viable. This already happens, with some companies including a clause in their contracts which states the employee cannot join a union.

Then there is the threat of legal action by companies. “Every year,” records green Sharon Beder, “thousands of Americans are sued for speaking out against governments and corporations. Multi-million dollar law suits are being filed against individual citizens and groups for circulating petitions, writing to public officials, speaking at, or even just attending, public meetings, organising a boycott and engaging in peaceful demonstrations.” This trend has spread to other countries and the intent is the same: to silence opposition and undermine campaigns. This tactic is called a SLAPP (for “Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation”) and is a civil court action which does not seek to win compensation but rather aims “to harass, intimidate and distract their opponents … They win the political battle, even when they lose the court case, if their victims and those associated with them stop speaking out against them.” This is an example of economic power at work, for the cost to a firm is just part of doing business but could bankrupt an individual or environmental organisation. In this way “the legal system best serves those who have large financial resources at their disposal” as such cases take “an average of three years to be settled, and even if the person sued wins, can cost tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees. Emotional stress, disillusionment, diversion of time and energy, and even divisions within families, communities and groups can also result.” [Global Spin, pp. 63–7]

A SLAPP usually deters those already involved from continuing to freely participate in debate and protest as well as deterring others from joining in. The threat of a court case in the face of economic power usually ensures that SLAPPS do not go to trial and so its objective of scaring off potential opponents usually works quickly. The reason can be seen from the one case in which a SLAPP backfired, namely the McLibel trial. After successfully forcing apologies from major UK media outlets like the BBC, Channel 4 and the Guardian by threatening legal action for critical reporting of the company, McDonald’s turned its attention to the small eco-anarchist group London Greenpeace (which is not affiliated with Greenpeace International). This group had produced a leaflet called “What’s Wrong with McDonald’s” and the company sent spies to its meetings to identify people to sue. Two of the anarchists refused to be intimidated and called McDonald’s bluff. Representing themselves in court, the two unemployed activists started the longest trial in UK history. After three years and a cost of around £10 million, the trial judge found that some of the claims were untrue (significantly, McDonald’s had successfully petitioned the judge not to have a jury for the case, arguing that the issues were too complex for the public to understand). While the case was a public relations disaster for the company, McDonald’s keeps going as before using the working practices exposed in the trial and remains one of the world’s largest corporations confident that few people would have the time and resources to fight SLAPPs (although the corporation may now think twice before suing anarchists!).

Furthermore, companies are known to gather lists of known “trouble-makers” These “black lists” of people who could cause companies “trouble” (i.e., by union organising or suing employers over “property rights” issues) would often ensure employee “loyalty,” particularly if new jobs need references. Under wage labour, causing one’s employer “problems” can make one’s current and future position difficult. Being black-listed would mean no job, no wages, and little chance of being re-employed. This would be the result of continually suing in defence of one’s property rights — assuming, of course, that one had the time and money necessary to sue in the first place. Hence working-class people are a weak position to defend their rights under capitalism due to the power of employers both within and without the workplace. All these are strong incentives not to rock the boat, particularly if employees have signed a contract ensuring that they will be fired if they discuss company business with others (lawyers, unions, media, etc.).

Economic power producing terrible contracts does not affect just labour, it also effects smaller capitalists as well. As we discussed in section C.4, rather than operating “efficiently” to allocate resources within perfect competition any real capitalist market is dominated by a small group of big companies who make increased profits at the expense of their smaller rivals. This is achieved, in part, because their size gives such firms significant influence in the market, forcing smaller companies out of business or into making concessions to get and maintain contracts.

The negative environmental impact of such a process should be obvious. For example, economic power places immense pressures towards monoculture in agriculture. In the UK the market is dominated by a few big supermarkets. Their suppliers are expected to produce fruits and vegetables which meet the requirements of the supermarkets in terms of standardised products which are easy to transport and store. The large-scale nature of the operations ensure that farmers across Britain (indeed, the world) have to turn their farms into suppliers of these standardised goods and so the natural diversity of nature is systematically replaced by a few strains of specific fruits and vegetables over which the consumer can pick. Monopolisation of markets results in the monoculture of nature.

This process is at work in all capitalist nations. In American, for example, the “centralised purchasing decisions of the large restaurant chains and their demand for standardised products have given a handful of corporations an unprecedented degree of power over the nation’s food supply … obliterating regional differences, and spreading identical stores throughout the country … The key to a successful franchise . .. can be expressed in one world: ‘uniformity.’” This has resulted in the industrialisation of food production, with the “fast food chains now stand[ing] atop a huge food-industrial complex that has gained control of American agriculture … large multinationals … dominate one commodity market after another … The fast food chain’s vast purchasing power and their demand for a uniform product have encouraged fundamental changes in how cattle are raised, slaughter, and processed into ground beef. These changes have made meatpacking … into the most dangerous job in the United States … And the same meat industry practices that endanger these workers have facilitated the introduction of deadly pathogens … into America’s hamburger meat.” [Eric Schlosser, Fast Food Nation, p. 5 and pp. 8–9]

Award winning journalist Eric Schlosser has presented an excellent insight in this centralised and concentrated food-industrial complex in his book Fast Food Nation. Schlosser, of course, is not alone in documenting the fundamentally anti-ecological nature of the capitalism and how an alienated society has created an alienated means of feeding itself. As a non-anarchist, he does fail to drawn the obvious conclusion (namely abolish capitalism) but his book does present a good overview of the nature of the processed at work and what drives them. Capitalism has created a world where even the smell and taste of food is mass produced as the industrialisation of agriculture and food processing has lead to the product (it is hard to call it food) becoming bland and tasteless and so chemicals are used to counteract the effects of producing it on such a scale. It is standardised food for a standardised society. As he memorably notes: “Millions of … people at that very moment were standing at the same counter, ordering the same food from the same menu, food that tasted everywhere the same.” The Orwellian world of modern corporate capitalism is seen in all its glory. A world in which the industry group formed to combat Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulation is called “Alliance for Workplace Safety” and where the processed food’s taste has to have the correct “mouthfeel.” Unsurprisingly, the executives of these companies talk about “the very essence of freedom” and yet their corporation’s “first commandant is that only production counts … The employee’s duty is to follow orders. Period.” In this irrational world, technology will solve all our problems, even the ones it generates itself. For example, faced with the serious health problems generated by the industrialisation of meat processing, the meatpacking industry advocated yet more technology to “solve” the problems caused by the existing technology. Rather than focusing on the primary causes of meat contamination, they proposed irradiating food. Of course the firms involved want to replace the word “irradiation” with the phrase “cold pasteurisation” due to the public being unhappy with the idea of their food being subject to radiation.

All this is achievable due to the economic power of fewer and fewer firms imposing costs onto their workers, their customers and, ultimately, the planet.

The next obvious factor associated with economic power are the pressures associated with capital markets and mobility. Investors and capitalists are always seeking the maximum return and given a choice between lower profits due to greater environmental regulation and higher profits due to no such laws, the preferred option will hardly need explaining. After all, the investor is usually concerned with the returns they get in their investment, not in its physical condition nor in the overall environmental state of the planet (which is someone else’s concern). This means that investors and companies interest is in moving their capital to areas which return most money, not which have the best environmental impact and legacy. Thus the mobility of capital has to be taken into account. This is an important weapon in ensuring that the agenda of business is untroubled by social concerns and environmental issues. After all, if the owners and managers of capital consider that a state’s environmental laws too restrictive then it can simply shift investments to states with a more favourable business climate. This creates significant pressures on communities to minimise environmental protection both in order to retain existing business and attract new ones.

Let us assume that a company is polluting a local area. It is usually the case that capitalist owners rarely live near the workplaces they own, unlike workers and their families. This means that the decision makers do not have to live with the consequences of their decisions. The “free market” capitalist argument would be, again, that those affected by the pollution would sue the company. We will assume that concentrations of wealth have little or no effect on the social system (which is a highly unlikely assumption, but never mind). Surely, if local people did successfully sue, the company would be harmed economically — directly, in terms of the cost of the judgement, indirectly in terms of having to implement new, eco-friendly processes. Hence the company would be handicapped in competition, and this would have obvious consequences for the local (and wider) economy.

This gives the company an incentive to simply move to an area that would tolerate the pollution if it were sued or even threatened with a lawsuit. Not only would existing capital move, but fresh capital would not invest in an area where people stand up for their rights. This — the natural result of economic power — would be a “big stick” over the heads of the local community. And when combined with the costs and difficulties in taking a large company to court, it would make suing an unlikely option for most people. That such a result would occur can be inferred from history, where we see that multinational firms have moved production to countries with little or no pollution laws and that court cases take years, if not decades, to process.

This is the current situation on the international market, where there is competition in terms of environment laws. Unsurprisingly, industry tends to move to countries which tolerate high levels of pollution (usually because of authoritarian governments which, like the capitalists themselves, simply ignore the wishes of the general population). Thus we have a market in pollution laws which, unsurprisingly, supplies the ability to pollute to meet the demand for it. This means that developing countries “are nothing but a dumping ground and pool of cheap labour for capitalist corporations. Obsolete technology is shipped there along with the production of chemicals, medicines and other products banned in the developed world. Labour is cheap, there are few if any safety standards, and costs are cut. But the formula of cost-benefit still stands: the costs are simply borne by others, by the victims of Union Carbide, Dow, and Standard Oil.” [David Watson, Op. Cit., p. 44] This, it should be noted, makes perfect economic sense. If an accident happened and the poor actually manage to successfully sue the company, any payments will reflect their lost of earnings (i.e., not very much).

As such, there are other strong economic reasons for doing this kind of pollution exporting. You can estimate the value of production lost because of ecological damage and the value of earnings lost through its related health problems as well as health care costs. This makes it more likely that polluting industries will move to low-income areas or countries where the costs of pollution are correspondingly less (particularly compared to the profits made in selling the products in high-income areas). Rising incomes makes such goods as safety, health and the environment more valuable as the value of life is, for working people, based on their wages. Therefore, we would expect pollution to be valued less when working class people are affected by it. In other words, toxic dumps will tend to cluster around poorer areas as the costs of paying for the harm done will be much less. The same logic underlies the arguments of those who suggest that Third World countries should be dumping grounds for toxic industrial wastes since life is cheap there

This was seen in early 1992 when a memo that went out under the name of the then chief economist of the World Bank, Lawrence Summers, was leaked to the press. Discussing the issue of “dirty” Industries, the memo argued that the World Bank should “be encouraging MORE migration of the dirty industries” to Less Developed Countries and provided three reasons. Firstly, the “measurements of the costs of health impairing pollution depends on the foregone earnings from increased morbidity and mortality” and so “pollution should be done in the country with the lowest cost, which will be the country with the lowest wages.” Secondly, “that under-populated countries in Africa are vastly UNDER-polluted, their air quality is probably vastly inefficiently low compared to Los Angeles or Mexico City.” Thirdly, the “demand for a clean environment for aesthetic and health reasons is likely to have very high income elasticity.” Concern over pollution related illness would be higher in a country where more children survive to get them. “Also, much of the concern over industrial atmosphere discharge is about visibility impairing particulates … Clearly trade in goods that embody aesthetic pollution concerns could be welfare enhancing. While production is mobile the consumption of pretty air is a non-tradable.” The memo notes “the economic logic behind dumping a load of toxic waste in the lowest wage country is impeccable and we should face up to that” and ends by stating that the “problem with the arguments against all of these proposals for more pollution” in the third world “could be turned around and used more or less effectively against every Bank proposal for liberalisation.” [The Economist, 08/02/1992]

While Summers accepted the criticism for the memo, it was actually written by Lant Pritchett, a prominent economist at the Bank. Summers claimed he was being ironic and provocative. The Economist, unsurprisingly, stated “his economics was hard to answer” while criticising the language used. This was because clean growth may slower than allowing pollution to occur and this would stop “helping millions of people in the third world to escape their poverty.” [15/02/1992] So not only is poisoning the poor with pollution is economically correct, it is in fact required by morality. Ignoring the false assumption that growth, any kind of growth, always benefits the poor and the utter contempt shown for both those poor themselves and our environment what we have here is the cold logic that drives economic power to move location to maintain its right to pollute our common environment. Economically, it is perfectly logical but, in fact, totally insane (this helps explain why making people “think like an economist” takes so many years of indoctrination within university walls and why so few achieve it).

Economic power works in other ways as well. A classic example of this at work can be seen from the systematic destruction of public transport systems in America from the 1930s onwards (see David St. Clair’s The Motorization of American Cities for a well-researched account of this). These systems were deliberately bought by automotive (General Motors), oil, and tire corporations in order to eliminate a less costly (both economically and ecologically) competitor to the automobile. This was done purely to maximise sales and profits for the companies involved yet it transformed the way of life in scores of cities across America. It is doubtful that if environmental concerns had been considered important at the time that they would have stopped this from happening. This means that individual consumption decisions will be made within an market whose options can be limited simply by a large company buying out and destroying alternatives.

Then there is the issue of economic power in the media. This is well understood by corporations, who fund PR, think-tanks and “experts” to counteract environmental activism and deny, for example, that humans are contributing to global warming. Thus we have the strange position that only Americans think that there is a debate on the causes of global warming rather than a scientific consensus. The actions of corporate funded “experts” and PR have ensured that particular outcome. As Sharon Beder recounts in her book Global Spin: The Corporate Assault on Environmentalism, a large amount of money is being spent on number sophisticated techniques to change the way people think about the environment, what causes the problems we face and what we can and should do about it. Compared to the resources of environmental and green organisations, it is unsurprising that this elaborate multi-billion pound industry has poisoned public debate on such a key issue for the future of humanity by propaganda and dis-information.

Having substantial resources available means that the media can be used to further an anti-green agenda and dominate the debate (at least for a while). Take, as an example, The Skeptical Environmentalist, a book by Bjørn Lomborg (a political scientist and professor of statistics at the University of Aarhus in Denmark). When it was published in 2001, it caused a sensation with its claims that scientists and environmental organisations were making, at best, exaggerated and, at worse, false claims about the world’s environmental problems. His conclusion was panglossian in nature, namely that there was not that much to worry about and we can continue as we are. That, of course, was music to the ears of those actively destroying the environment as it reduces the likelihood that any attempt will be made to stop them.

Unsurprisingly, the book was heavily promoted by the usual suspects and, as a result received significant attention from the media. However, the extremely critical reviews and critiques it subsequently produced from expert scientists on the issues Lomborg discussed were less prominently reviewed in the media, if at all. That critics of the book argued that it was hardly an example of good science based on objectivity, understanding of the underlying concepts, appropriate statistical methods and careful peer review goes without saying. Sadly, the fact that numerous experts in the fields Lomborg discussed showed that his book was seriously flawed, misused data and statistics and marred by flawed logic and hidden value judgements was not given anything like the same coverage even though this information is far more important in terms of shaping public perception. Such works and their orchestrated media blitz provides those with a vested interest in the status quo with arguments that they should be allowed to continue their anti-environmental activities and agenda. Moreover, it takes up the valuable time of those experts who have to debunk the claims rather than do the research needed to understand the ecological problems we face and propose possible solutions.

As well as spin and propaganda aimed at adults, companies are increasingly funding children’s education. This development implies obvious limitations on the power of education to solve ecological problems. Companies will hardly provide teaching materials or fund schools which educate their pupils on the real causes of ecological problems. Unsurprisingly, a 1998 study in the US by the Consumers Union found that 80% of teaching material provided by companies was biased and provided students with incomplete or slanted information that favoured its sponsor’s products and views [Schlosser, Op. Cit., p. 55] The more dependent a school is on corporate funds, the less likely it will be to teach its students the necessity to question the motivations and activities of business. That business will not fund education which it perceives as anti-business should go without saying. As Sharon Beder summarises, “the infiltration of school curricula through banning some texts and offering corporate-based curriculum material and lesson plans in their place can conflict with educational objectives, and also with the attainment of an undistorted understanding of environmental problems.” [Op. Cit., pp. 172–3]

This indicates the real problem of purely “educational” approaches to solving the ecological crisis, namely that the ruling elite controls education (either directly or indirectly). This is to be expected, as any capitalist elite must control education because it is an essential indoctrination tool needed to promote capitalist values and to train a large population of future wage-slaves in the proper habits of obedience to authority. Thus capitalists cannot afford to lose control of the educational system. And this means that such schools will not teach students what is really necessary to avoid ecological disaster: namely the dismantling of capitalism itself. And we may add, alternative schools (organised by libertarian unions and other associations) which used libertarian education to produce anarchists would hardly be favoured by companies and so be effectively black-listed — a real deterrent to their spreading through society. Why would a capitalist company employ a graduate of a school who would make trouble for them once employed as their wage slave?

Finally, needless to say, the combined wealth of corporations and the rich outweighs that of even the best funded environmental group or organisation (or even all of them put together). This means that the idea of such groups buying, say, rainforest is unlikely to succeed as they simply do not have the resources needed — they will be outbid by those who wish to develop wilderness regions. This is particularly the case once we accept the framework of economic self-interest assumed by market theory. This implies that organisations aiming to increase the income of individual’s will be better funded than those whose aim is to preserve the environment for future generations. As recent developments show, companies can and do use that superior resources to wage a war for hearts and minds in all aspects of society, staring in the schoolroom. Luckily no amount of spin can nullify reality or the spirit of freedom and so this propaganda war will continue as long as capitalism does.

In summary, market solutions to environmental problems under capitalism will always suffer from the fact that real markets are marked by economic inequalities and power.
