Why We Cancelled Prayer Ministry
Discover how our prayer ministry transformation revitalized our church. By integrating prayer into all activities, we've fostered growth and deeper spiritual engagement. Learn more about our journey. #Prayer #PrayerMeeting #PrayerMinistry #ChurchGrowth
Transforming the Tradition of ‘Prayer Meetings’. For many years, we tried to establish a separate “Prayer Ministry” in our local church, but it never gained substantial traction. As long as I can remember, prayer meetings and ministries lacked enthusiasm, yet we kept pushing them. We realized a prayer ministry transformation was needed. Perhaps your experience has been different, but we often…

really do not think people understand the extent to which palestinian sites/landmarks (especially muslim ones) were destroyed, beginning in 1948 until now, even in cities. the oldest extant mosque in jaffa (al-bahr mosque) was built in 1675, even though islam came there in the 7th century

What position do you think the cats would take to pray? would they bow or just sit or aomething else?
I think they should tilt their head straight upwards, so that their whiskers are stirred by the breeze. If they worship the stars, it makes sense that wind is part of that. Invocation is like asking permission of StarClan to speak to one of your ancestors, like using an operator, so if the wind stirs your whiskers it means they're answering.
Proper prayer etiquette includes going outside. You don't pray in dens or caves.
You're not praying to the Moonplace. You're directly seeking an audience.
WindClan, ironically, is the least strict about this. Comes from a mixture of tunneling culture and the fact they confess to their Cleric more than other Clans.
RiverClan probably has a phrase that goes something like, "Your wishing wind was an undertow" which roughly means "you were badly mistaken and should have known better"
I'd also combine it with them sitting on their haunches and putting their paws/wrists together, "rabbit sniffing the air" style.

Jewish culture is being able to follow a prayer you don't normally do if you have the words in front of you but absolutley not being able to say a prayer you know by heart if the tune is just slightly different from what you're used to
this is actually the realest ever.....
<- has gone to temples that aren't my home one and sat there silently during every prayer because the tunes were changed

desperately need people to understand that alicent is a victim but she’s also an abuser and a perpetrator
that she actively makes choices to harm other women because of jealousy and envy and the greed deep in her bones because submitting to suffering didn’t get her what those women fight to grasp for themselves.
she is absolutely a victim, in show.
that doesn’t change that she abused rhaenyra and her children, her own son, most likely helaena given how she flinches every time her mother touches her, and is actively weaponizing the patriarchy of westeros against other women- rhaenyra primarily, but also mysaria and dyana.
she isn’t the moral, righteous force of good that even she thinks she is, she’s a wounded woman directing all of the rot, pain, and fury inside her at the wrong people and forces.
#anti team green stans#anti team green#anti alicent hightower stans#i don’t wanna say it’s anti alicent bc honestly it’s more ‘accept her for who she is bc she’s so much more complex and interesting when you#but i made this bc someone genuinely tried to say that the reason people hate her is that they don’t see her as a victim#most rational people know show!alicent is a victim#it’s the point that’s she’s an abuser as well#that makes them dislike her#that she’s a hypocrite and a traitor#i don’t even like young alicent bc i don’t at all think she was a good friend to rhaenyra#‘it’s not your place to question the plots of lords and men’ to the named heir#dismisses rhaenyra’s hopes and idealism entirely out of hand#is baffled that rhaenyra is more worried for her fathers happiness and mother’s wellbeing than her position#she knew as early as ep 3 that otto was conspiring against rhaenyra and never told anyone#condemns ‘targaryen customs’ only to wed her daughter to her son even younger than she was when otto dangled her before viserys#acts entitled to rhaenyras secrets whilst condemning and judgemental even though she did not give rhaenyra that same courtesy#made no attempt at apology for the insensitive comment of aegon’s birth#though rhaenyra DID try to apologize for the ‘imprisoned in a castle’ line and tried to comfort her#uses her power as queen to push past the space rhaenyra is trying to create because she feels heartbroken and betrayed#rhaenyra took part in alicent’s culture with prayer at alicent’s urging because she cared about alicent and alicent was trying to help her#alicent is never once shown to return that favor instead condemning it for ‘queerness’ and growing to later#erase and remove all targaryen and valyrian heraldry from the red keep to replace with her own#like alicent is a victim and i DO have empathy for her. but i don’t like her and never will#especially not after the way her stans behave#she deserved better than otto’s machinations and viserys’…. viserysness#but that can also be true whilst i condemn her actions and behaviors

Call me a hopeless goth, but I kind of like the Ninth House's funerary practices and I wish we knew more about them. At least, I like what they could be: what I imagine they once were, before their culture was shattered.
The Ninth as we see it is a civilization in its death throes. It's a utilitarian horror show, hollowed out by tragedy and stripped of all dignity and sentiment, but we have good reason to think it wasn't always like that. They have a history of fine textile production and poetry, and occassionally forming hero cults to celebrate cultural icons. There used to be families who raised their children communally. Before the sea of tiny coffins, the Ninth may have known how to live, and even how to mourn.
There are glimmers of what their death culture might have been like in Harrow's prayer beads: made from the bones of her ancestors, a tangible link to her history and community. And in Gideon searching for her mother in the leek fields, imagining that a woman she never met is still present in her life.
In a living culture with a functioning community, the use of human bone as a crafting material could make mundane objects into momentos, ways to keep loved ones close after their passing. The skeleton servitors could be seen as a way individuals continued to care and provide for the community, even after death.
If their dead are routinely exhumed to be added to the chore rota, it would make sense for the exhumation, cleaning, and raising of those bones to traditionally be a cultural ritual like a graduation or funeral. Most of those skeletons would have had living friends and family working alongside them, when the Ninth still had generations. The skeleton sweeping the chapel used to be someone's uncle. People in these cultures do mourn death. We've seen them with the corpses of people they knew, and they're not completely desensitized; just very weird. There's a throw-away line once about Harrow having a pet peeve about personalising the skeletons, which means it must be fairly common to do that. What was to stop previous generations of the Ninth from getting scolded for putting funny hats on Cousin Balbus's bones? Nothing, that's what. Balbus liked hats, anyway, so I don't see how it was disrespectful.
I'm sure Wake didn't get a ceremony when she was raised as a servitor; the main beneficiary would have been Gideon, and god fucking knows no one ever went out of their way to make her feel like part of the community. I'm betting no one does raising ceremonies for anyone, anymore. The Ninth is as good as dead, and no one ever taught the youngest generation how to mourn. But for ten thousand years, the Ninth successfully lived in very close proximity to mundane natural death. It's fun to imagine what that looked like.

#I've played with irl atheists and catholics and everything in between#but it rarely feels like faith is a real factor for anyone-- DM or player#outside of‚ again‚ divine spellcasters and Big Epic Plot Things#I mean there are a couple of 'RAAAHGH FUCK THE GODS >:C' edgy backstory types but#no one is just Normally Culturally Religious and it's WEIRD#like it's not even a matter of faith in dnd! the gods are LITERALLY OBJECTIVELY PROVABLY REAL#so what does that MEAN for the average person! how does it shape language? business? culture?#where are the people wearing holy symbols like amulets-- or the way modern christians very casually wear crosses?#blessings over meals? prayers before bed? burnt offerings?#and like I enjoy thinking about world and culture building but I know that's A Whole Thing but even just like...#it doesn't feel like anyone believes in gods at all except clerics and paladins#like they DO because they factually exist but in the same way I 'believe in' like. the president of france.#like yeah he exists and is important to some people but has no bearing on my life whatsoever#that's such a fucking weird approach to the DIVINE in a polytheist world where those gods are YOUR CULTURE'S GODS??#I am bad at this myself but I'm not religious so it's harder for me to remember what Being Religious All The Time Casually is like lol#funny enough my character with the most intentionally religious background in this sense#is one of my ones who's ended up wrapped up in Big Plot God Things lmao#'aubree starts the campaign with a holy symbol of yondalla because of course she does why wouldn't she'#'oh okay well she's gonna get deeply and personally entangled with a bunch of death gods immediately' fdkjghkdf oh!! welp#you don't really pray to urogalan unless you're breaking ground for a new building or someone just died so it's STILL weird for her lol#but at least I had the framework there of 'oh yeah the gods exist and matter to me and my everyday life and culture' in general#about me#posts from twitter

the assumption that Imogen (and previously Ashton) never recieved any assistance from the gods because they didn't pray "correctly" is interesting to me. is there some specific procedure for acceptable prayer in Exandria? if you don't do it right is it like texting the wrong number and the Gods just don't get the message? or are they just putting cries for help that don't follow their formatting and content guidelines at the bottom of the pile lmao

Another stray timeline or fun idea with the Donor Clause Au, but with an uneasy armistice between the Autobots and the Decepticons due to the revival of an intergalactic version of the Olympics/Hunger Games.
The nurse got shanghai’d into it because Cybertron wanted to send the “right message” and Windblade was adamant to send you.
That message was supposed to be “good neighbors” in the hopes of continuing potential trade with nearby galaxies.
What you, a Camien Seekerkin under the tutelage of a Camien Healer that often went into the hostile and wild regions of the planet and off-world expeditions, took it as “root out Quintesson and their allies because we remember and FUCK ‘EM!”
(Windblade knew exactly what she was doing, but she misinterpreted that the rest of them knew. She thought that the ‘cons understood because Nurse was among them for a while. With a Conjunx and bitties to boot!
Even Chromia softens her dislike because she thought that the Cybertronians understood what kind of message they were sending by allowing a potential Healer to participate against such a bloodsport among their historical enemies.)
Everyone is talking about the nobody that got sent in and then talking about how it's a Colonist and not a true native. Of course, mechs shut their mouths when Tarn is in the vicinity.
Tarn's looming over anyone who dares make a comment about your survival chances, and bets are taking place if he's crashing into the tournament.
His temper is getting worse with each day you're not at the finish line and he's staring into the ceiling at night with all the sparklings squirming in his berth because he's getting anxious and hides it under the guise of a 'sleepover.' He's simultaneously freaking out and chilling down because on one hand you have Vos, but on the other hand, it's fucking Vos.
On the final day, there's the D.J.D. in the booth with the brood of six to nine sparklings that are all chirping because look there's tor/ori/riri/mom on the big screen that's blood eagling someone from the opposition with ties to the Quintessons with a skirt made out of assorted alien and cybernetic lifechords and Vos hung across your back.
Meanwhile Tarn is feeling something as he watches you ritually take someone's spinal cord, while the rest of the team are commenting that you've been holding out on them and everyone watches in stunned horror as you march to finish line to empty out all the tokens of the annihilated teams that Quintessa and her allies sponsored.
Surprisingly, there are other planetary systems that hate the Quintessons and/or dislike the Galactic Alliance, and look forward to doing business and building ties with a planet that can go toe-to-toe with both powers.
