In the article "Trigger Training Tips: Have You Been Doing It Wrong?" by Clayton Walker, the author explores the difference between target shooting and defensive shooting, emphasizing the importance of adapting trigger techniques for different scenarios. Initially approaching firearms as a target shooter, Walker discusses how traditional target shooting habits may not be effective for defensive shooting situations. The article critiques conventional "perfect" trigger press techniques, which prioritize slow, precise movements, suggesting they may hinder speed and practicality in self-defense contexts. Walker shares his personal evolution in shooting methodology, adopting a more straightforward and rapid trigger pull approach to enhance performance in defensive training. The content highlights the significance of understanding different firearm uses, balancing precision with practicality, and constantly evaluating common shooting advice to improve effectiveness and adaptability.

I feel like ppl focus on Bruce training the robins to kick ass from a young age when that’s definitely not all that was. He had to teach them field medicine and how to pick locks and sneak around silently and how to notice things, sure he taught them how to hit things with sticks of multiple sizes, but he also taught them how to grapple around and land from a fall.
They probably had intimidation lessons and interrogation lessons and sessions where they just meditated for hours straight. They’re taught how to calm down civilians and to train their voices to sound different in costume and so many things that would make them the most terrifying children to live with.
Bruce is actively training them to be good at bothering him because they like trying out their new espionage skills at Galas and trying to sneak around him while he’s asleep to prank him.
When we think of training to be Robin it’s easy to think of sparring and gymnastics equipment when it’s fun to remember the other parts of it. Some days Bruce would probably just give the kids a Hunt a Killer box and a time limit.
#I think he’d get weirdly into making training exercises with oddly specific parts#by the time they’re out on the streets they have a lot of tools in their belt not just literally#like just to use batarangs they’d have to practice with darts and throwing knives and then get to batarangs#there’s a target range for grappling guns and smoke bombs and and approx 15 different weapons they have to learn#they would have to have a surprising amount of medical knowledge and various detective skills that definitely make any adult that finds out#-very concerned#they’re taught how to recognize fear toxin and if they’re hallucinating and what to do to keep themselves safe#batman would not go halfway with this shit man#he would be a good teacher as long as he’s teaching the most crazy shit#Bruce Wayne teaching self defense classes in Gotham would go hard though it would be funny#batman and robin#batman#batfamily#batfam#bruce wayne#dick grayson#jason todd#tim drake#damian wayne#stephanie brown

Hello, I would like to ask you a question that has been interesting to me for a long time, but I am afraid that it may somehow offend you, so I apologize. I understand if you do not want to discuss such things.
May you please tell me a little about the side effects of the transition?
So, the downsides of medical transition? Sure, I can name a few things. But a lot of "side effects" people warn you about are really just "be sure you're prepared to be more physiologically like a cis man -- you can't pick and choose what effects you get, but you can predict some of them based on genetics."
(Transphobes like to make this sound scary, like you're damaging your body. But it's like... OK, a receding hairline? Yeah, no shit that's gonna happen. Happens to most dudes. Jokes on you, a lot of people are into that. And I can take some finesteride to slow it down, so stop using visual shorthand for masculinity to scare me away from masculinity.)
That said, be sure you're prepared for changes to:
How you gain muscle & fat
Your libido
Your hair growth patterns
How you express (and possibly even feel) emotions
Your voice
Your genitals
Your risk factors for certain health conditions. Some will improve, some will get worse. Me, I have to keep an eye on my congenital heart issue.
That said, the only real "side effects" that I feel are unique to being trans and/or me are:
Vaginal dryness. There's creams for that, so, completely manageable.
You of course need to be aware of your liver health, since you're on a major medication. But it's your doc's job to check your levels and adjust accordingly. I have had no issues.
My ADHD and memory maybe got a bit worse? But they are both stable now.
If I miss a shot, I get irritable (T makes me a much calmer person)
That's really it for me.
I've had top surgery and the only side effect there was that I rejected some sutures (first time that has happened) and thus got a gnarly scar, but that can happen with any surgery.
Other folks are welcome to chime in. Again, I think it's important to distinguish between "side effect" and "this is a new-to-you thing to deal with that is common for cis men."
#trans stuff#transphobes love 2 be like#'these women are destroying their heart health'#when all that is happening is your risk has been nudged into a typical cis male range#oh nooooo maybe just mitigate that with diet and exercise like a cis man also would#anyway my overall health - not just mental - improved massively on T#and most of where it has gotten worse is more related to aging than anything else

i spend months hammering out the intricate lore of my universe where everyone i care about in this manga is a woman and then what do i do with all that effort? draw them in Outfits.
#posts that make it obvious that chobits was formative in my taste in pictures of anime characters in Outfits#anyway i promise i do other things with my lore. but it's for me and my three friends#this was mostly an exercise in range....i rely on saturated colors so much i'm trying to break out of it#d.gray-man#if you saw me replace the image no you didn't. i just got mad at how lazy the background was so i had to redo part of it.

insane op shop luck today. not ONLY did I find a pair of comfy pants that fit and I can wear to work (first pair in a literal decade), not ONLY did I find a suitable bag for taking to work with sufficient but not excessive space for the things I need in it, but I ALSO found one of those vintage fold down desks I've been looking for that - get this - is EXACTLY to the millimetre the same height as the space under the window I wanted to put it
#in fairness I did spend 5 years of that decade not really looking for pants#but however. i have been keeping an eye out for pants i can wear to work and this was a surprise#maybe not really my style but frankly pants aren't really my style i just want something easy. i have 2 work dresses and i work 2 days#a week - i just need one third outfit to rotate so i look like i own a range of clothes and no one will notice it's only three outfits#the desk is such a win though! i can keep all my study stuff in one place and i can shut it AWAY when i am not studying!#it has space for laptop/pens/exercise books but ALSO a bookshelf underneath to solve my 'i have ten books out from the uni library' problem#rowena adventures

ive talked to a lot of ppl who have taken vyvanse now and i think ik a bit more on how i need to live on it
#1) dopamine drops on lower dosages or high dosage but in the evenings feel like hell and it wont ever stop you have to just breathe#you will stop breathing well and you wont notice it so you have to remember to breathe deeply. this helps immensely for some reason#2) you will stop processing the existence of food as a consumable thing and not just an object like Table or Cardboard. you will not want to#eat anything. you have to buy meal replacement shakes. sweetness is one of the only pleasant flavours. eat protein. eat as much protein as#you can. down those meal replacament shakes. get enough for a day. try not to into calorie deficits on vyvanse.#3) your mind will be searching for cognitively complex tasks and everything else dwarfs in comparison. dont lay down. do something.#4) you have to exercise. fully exercise at the gym not a home 20 min work out. you need to push your body right now so that you can be ok#5) nothing will be as intense and vivid and beautiful and there will be a layer of seperation between you snd reality even on a lower dosage#this is fine. this is the primary price. sunlight helps and so does doing complex tasks but you cant avoid this. remind yourself that this#is a self-induced thing and its temporary and itll fade.#6) youve been ship of theseus'd into a new person and this effect only increases later into the day. any conclusion you reach about yourself#is most likely not applicable to your non-vyvanse self.#7) carry chapstick around. keep drinking water. dry mouth starts 5 minutes after taking it#8) some of your friends have a reduced range of emotion and this makes them more stable but less capable of experiencing intense joys#and sadnesses. look at them. listen to their perspective. live like them when youre on the medication.#9) music is still gorgeous#10) you will feel very hot very fast. wear layers you can take off.#11) pick up a bow and shoot. keep shooting. keep going. shoot at least 50 arrows if you can. feel the pain in your arms and your shoulders#and then keep shooting.

A little bit about CKC pointing field trials (puppy stakes) in general for those who are interested in how they run.
CKC has its hunting dog events broken out pretty specifically. CKC is restrictive in which breeds can run which events (e.g., only CKC registered approved pointing breeds can run pointing tests, other breeds are excluded even if they technically could complete the exercises. Rory can only run pointing events, she couldn't do a retriever test or a spaniel test).
We also have a distinction in trials vs tests, as most other venues do.
Trials - you are competing against other people and being judged against a standard. You run in pairs. Top 4 dogs get placements, once you get enough points you get a field championship.
Tests - you are running alone and being judged against a standard for a qualifying/non-qualifying runs. 3 qualifying runs gets you a title.
We are currently running CKC pointing field trials.
CKC pointing trials have two main distinctions within them - puppy stakes and senior stakes. You can enter whichever stake you're ready for, with some exceptions (like age) - you don't have to run puppy stakes before running senior stakes.
Puppy stakes are a little lower pressure because they judge puppies' potential. Within puppy stakes, there are two main types of runs.
Open puppy stakes: any puppy *of eligible breed* between 6 and 18 months old. No birds hidden in the field, no gunshots on the course, 15-20 minutes running.
Derby stakes: any puppy of eligible breed between 6 and 27 months old. At least two birds hidden in the field, puppy needs to point birds if encountered, gunshots, 20-30 minutes.
We run open puppy for now. Here's how this goes:
We are randomly paired with another puppy and handler (this pairing is called a brace, the other handler and dog are our bracemates). We walk up to the start line together (usually the entrance to a big pasture) with our puppies on leash. Two judges (on ATV or horseback) give us a quick overview of the course we have to walk. The course is usually through a big open field with medium cover (think knee high grasses and shrubs, some wetlands, some hills but no forest) and typically avoids fencelines or roads. They tell us to release our dogs at the same time, so we let the dogs off leash and start walking (very fast, and I'm a fast walker to begin with). The course is usually huge, much bigger than we could possibly walk in 20 mins.
Usually the puppies play a little bit and then get to work. The judges are looking for puppies who can ignore the other dog and handler, judges, ATV, horses, and spectators, hunt independently, cover lots of ground (move fast and steady across the terrain while still sniffing), use the wind to follow scent, and respond to their handlers' directions. If the puppies want to play too much, the judges will ask the handlers to split up a little bit to encourage the puppies to work independently. Usually you stick within about 10m (25ft) of your bracemate. Puppies can range anywhere as long as they stay visible and ahead of their handlers. (Puppies are often about several hundred metres/yards away from their handlers depending on breed. Rory ranges about 50-100m in real life and about 75-300m in field trials. It is an exhilarating exercise in trust in my training.)
The judges follow behind us and then spectators can follow behind the judges, if they want. We have to keep up a very fast pace to encourage the puppies to cover as much ground as possible, not at a jog but pretty close.
In puppy stakes, you want to keep as quiet as you can. The judges are looking for instinct and basic potential, so you don't want to ruin that by giving your dog tons of directions. If your puppy follows directions, that suggests they need directions to function. If your dog ignores directions, that's unresponsive and also bad. Ideally you shouldn't say much during your run unless there's danger (if a deer runs out, you would recall your puppy) or evils (if your puppy is eating poop, you could recall or redirect). You are allowed to chat with your bracemate but you have to hustle fast so it's usually friendly but minimal.
One important piece of open puppy stakes is that there are no planted birds in the field! There may be wild birds, but it's unlikely. Many people "over train" their bird dog puppies on live birds, and then the puppies get really frustrated that there are no birds in the field after they search so hard. This causes puppies to slow down or give up entirely during their run, so this is something that judges look for. In real life hunting, there's no guarantee of birds so it's important that puppies can work through frustration without losing enthusiasm.
The judges kind of shout directions (go left, head for those trees) from behind to keep us on course. In the best courses, the judges make you walk a loop, but sometimes your time ends in the middle of a field. When your time is up, the judges will thank you and tell you to leash your dog. We recall our puppies and put them on leash and walk them back to our cars for water and snacks.
That's the whole run for open puppy! It's very low pressure. The puppies basically just follow their hearts and do what they were made to do.
Derby is extremely similar, except there are birds planted in the field. The puppies don't HAVE to find birds but obviously its preferable that they do. If they find birds, they must point (stop moving and stand still staring at the bird). They don't have to be steady to flush or shot (they can chase when the bird flies or when the gun goes off), and only blanks are shot in derby. The course is a little longer but everything else is the same.
In open puppy and derby stakes, the judges are just looking for potential. They want to know if your dog would be competitive in the senior stakes, so they're looking for lots of independence, lots of bird drive, lots of stamina, things like that. Because they're judging potential, younger puppies may be judged a little easier than older puppies.
I think that's the gist of puppy stakes in CKC pointing field trials! Send me a message if you have questions about our experience so far!
#dogblr#field dog chronicles#bird dog training#ckc pointing dog field trials#people get frustrated about a lot of things in puppy stakes but ultimately puppies can do no wrong#it is just to see how they do in the field#do they have an interest in the game? do they care about their handler? can they ignore another dog?#its soooo low pressure and so fun#i think rory got placements because she is extremely responsive to directions without me having to say anything#she has extremely good stamina and doesnt get frustrated or lose enthusiasm#and she ranges super appropriately (always within eyesight but far enough out to search)#also she did some extremely nice search patterns and checking the field#it is so cool to see and so fun to participate in#and truly a genuine trust exercise#to see my dog running full tilt several hundred metres away and trust her to use her brain#AND SHE DOES#she does SO WELL#when i give a short whistle and she spins around to look at me immediately?#its enough to bring real tears to my eyes#mav and i cooperated well but never to this extent#i see why people field trial their dogs#it is so rewarding to see her do what she was made for

Also, one of my employees at this Chicago location guessed that I was 26 and when I told her I’m 31, she asked me what’s my secret to staying so youthful and I looked at her straight in the eye and said, “Lack of sleep.”
#personal#I genuinely never know what to say in these situations.#And I get it all the time. People usually guess around the 25-27 range for me so I must be doing something right.#I should also mention I don’t wear makeup and I do not have a skincare routine either.#I don’t exercise as much as I want to either. Like is my 5’5 height? My lack of children?#*is it

Range of Emotions Tag Game ✨️
Thanks for the tag @tragedycoded and @the-golden-comet (And shoutout to @diabolical-blue for coming up with the game!)
Rules: Choose an OC and share passages where that character expresses each emotion in this list: joy - anger - sadness - anxiety - fear - disgust - embarrassment. Bonus points if the emotion is implied. If there’s a reason the character does not ever express one of those emotions, feel free to share that reasoning instead.
Using my OC 🌠Seeker🌠 for these questions, from my WIP 🌐7 Circles🌐

I put these puppies in story-order so they'll make more sense.
Sadness 🌠 (Chapter 2: A Fallen Star)
Outside the stone enclosure the wind picks up with a somber moan, making Leo’s words come out quieter. “We.. we didn’t make it to the crash site in time. I’m so sorry.” Seeker chokes on their breath, their four hands trembling, two come up to cover their face while two fall limp into their lap. They shake their head as their lungs gasp for air that suddenly feels too thin. No. No! That’s not possible. He's so strong, a warrior, there has to be a mistake- a misunderstanding. He couldn't be... "And I'm sorry for what comes next, Seeker." Leo says, jaw tightening. "The first district has been ever so eager to meet you- ... an' they'll be here soon- Very soon. An'- An' dodging them will do more harm than good." He swims close, but seems so far away. "Ya seem a nice person, Seeker, an' since you’re from the Outlands you need to know-" Suddenly, his voice becomes a whisper, "-don't challenge the demons."
Embarrassment 🌠 (Chapter 4: You're Very Welcome)
A person, some ways down from where they stood, scrubs at the white stone wall of the capitol... Their hair is white as the marble they clean with diligence, and their skin is a shade warmer than Seeker's own, green as the plantlife surrounding them. The Kalilith doesn't hear as one of Halcyon's rulers replies, wonderstruck. "One of our PAs," she says dismissively. "Is it what keeps him busy or just him that caught your attention?" Seeker looks back to their host as if snapped out of a trance."-Oh! I... I was simply looking in admiration." they say, light purple tinging their pale blue cheeks and the tips of their ears. They scold themself for the distraction even as they drink in these drops of information- the beautiful person is a man, and some kind of staff for the capitol. "He is similar to my kind, which struck my interest. Pardon the interruption." they explain, their lower hands clasping behind them.
Fear 🌠 (Chapter 8: Response-Ability)
Seeker freezes as they see the triangular head of a coatl in Valians’ [sleepy] grasp, right near the ifrit’s face. Their stomach coils tightly. If they move quick, they could cast it from the closet but if they scared the reptile and weren’t fast enough it might bite him, what if they- No. Oh.. but.. but it has no scales, no feathers, it's just smooth and it’s green and.. and it's his tail. He has a tail.
Joy 🌠 (Chapter 8: Response-Ability)
Seekers west hand comes to still their heart. As the sound of the thump-thumping in their ears mellows, curiosity breathes- he has a tail! How did Seeker miss that? It’s not possible they would have- it’s a tail. Valian must have hid it away until he retired for the night. Did the tail require special protection and warmth? Did it get caught in doors if it wasn't tucked into his cute little sarouel pants?! Oh! Perhaps it’s a cultural observance of some kind!
Disgust 🌠 (Chapter 10: In Proper Behavior)
"First thing we gotta figure out is what you use me for." Seeker grimaces from the armchair across from him, their spine a ruler and their many hands folded in their lap. "Could you.. elaborate?" "You know, as your PA." Val reaches to the bowl of fruit on the table, grabs a cherry, and pops it in his mouth. "Am I just your general doormat? Are ya bruisin' me? Am I warmin' your bed?" Two of the four hands meet at Seekers lips like a prayer and they inhale sharply, closing their eyes. "I... don't know, Valian. Is there... one you think is best? More.. believable?"
Anxiety 🌠 (Chapter 12: The Social Grace)
The Duke leans forward in his seat as two figures step out into the coliseum center and a roar goes through the crowd. He taps an emblem on the table and a rectangle of light pops up, nearly making Seeker jump. “Ah, so the program says the first round is a set of miscreants unfit for rehabilitation- one who refused to sign a contract, and one who assaulted their minder, oh dear me. Followed by terrorist vs. beast- always riveting. Then we have a Furie administering a punishment and- ooh, a public dispute, how lucky.” “I’m sorry, what?” Seeker broaches as politely as they can, their stomach churning at what they think they’re hearing and hope that they aren’t.
Anger 🌠 (Chapter 12: The Social Grace)
"It's barbaric!" Seeker cries, pacing in the grand suite hours later. "Two people died and- and all they had the urge to do was applause?! And that beast..." "What, the unicorn?" quips Valian from his seat atop the kitchen counter, munching clean through an unpeeled kiwi. Seeker has felt a bitterness on their tongue all evening and they gnash their teeth, holding back the urge to spit. They can still hear the cheers of the crowd rolling through their ears- the laugh bleeting from the Rakshasa’s lips. "They congratulated themselves when it ran that pale woman through like it was a good deed done!" They hiss, their lower right hand clenching into a fist. ... "I can't believe how horrible he is! How they all are!" "Well, you're gonna have to figure out how to believe it before your next tour tomorrow." Val advises, talking around half a kiwi.
That was fun! ☺️✨️ I may do the others at some point but they're absolutely going to be more difficult than my Kalilith bean here lmao.

Took two of the chickens on a walk today, using their leash and harness. Moe took it like a champ, little man on a mission. Taylor was a bit confused, I don't think she likes the harness but hopefully she gets used to it. Fluffypants did not participate cause she was laying an egg.
