mick and y/n’s family pestering them about when they’re gonna get married, like her grandma asking “are you guys already planning the wedding?” lol
Note: I just know my grandma would be like this (in the impossible event I actually date someone)
You had known eachother since you were kids, so Mick had spent a few afternoons of his childhood with you in your grandmother's house whenever your parents or his parents were busy and you still wanted to hang out.
"Forgot to tell you, my grandma is joining us for dinner today", you smiled as you handed Mick the plates so he could set them at the table, "Oh, I'm glad she's feeling better", your boyfriend said, "she really wasn't her normal self when we visited her last week", you nodded, remembering the last visit you two had payed her where she felt a little bit off.
You were putting the food in the serving trays when you felt your boyfriend's arms circle your waist, "Careful, liebling, I don't want you to burn yourself", he whispered against your ear when he felt you jump, "not my fault, you were the one to come in here and sneak up on me", you giggled, finishing the task in hand and bringing it to the table, all whole your boyfriend still remained latched to you, "care to dance with me?", he offered as soon as he was able to take both your hands in his, "without music?", you chuckled, "we'll make it up as we go", he giggled as he spun you around, bringing you closer to his chest as he swayed you both, too busy with eachother to hear your parents' car pull up and your grandmother getting inside the house, "Y/N, dear, I knocked but you didn't answer, and when I noticed it wasn't locked I g- how cute are you two!", your grandmother gushed while you blushed, separating your body from Mick's and greeting her, "I'm so happy to see your back to feeling better!", you said.
Mick had just gotten everything out of the table to make room for the dessert you had asked your mother to make, your father serving everyone that asked for a small plate, "you really sure you don't want some, Mick?", he asked your boyfriend, "my trainer would not be happy if I had some, but thank you. I'm sure it's lovely and delicious as usual", he offered softly while still looking at your plate, "what about a little spoonful? You can take from my plate if you want", you offered your boyfriend, grabbing your spoon to give him some while everyone else seemed to be busy talking.
"So, when are you getting married? I'm not getting any younger and I'd like to be able to dance at my granddaughter's wedding", your grandmother said like it was the most normal thing, "where did that come from?", you wondered, "we all know you're getting married, that's just the way it is. I was just wondering when that would be, you know, what are your plans and all", she said as she took a bite from the sweet treat, "we don't know yet, but you'll be one of the first people to know", Mick smiled dashingly.
.
Whenever your little cousins had a birthday party and Mick had time to join you, all of your family members made sure to gush about him, "He's such a gentleman, Y/N, I'm so happy for you", one of your aunties said, "look at how he is with the kids, if you don't marry him, I will!", your grandmother offered, making you giggle loudly until you were interrupted by your little cousin, "Y/N, come here!", she called for you, pulling the hem of your dress, "Do you want me to play with you?", you asked, "we are making a wedding for you and Mick!", she announced happily, your mother getting up too, "I'm in the front row!", she shrieked, "what? I'm not engaged yet, I don't even have a ring", you tried to reason with the 5 year old.
Shaking her head, you cousin rolled her yes playfully, "don't be silly, Y/N. Do you think we don't have one? We taught Mick how to make one with the napkin", she stated, "he was not very good at first, but if we're lucky, it will last for the whole ceremony!".
(Thank you for submitting an ask 🤍)

Remembering my legacy story...
That tag has me thinking about my legacy story and how the story was shaped by my discoveries and ignorance while learning about this game. The first few generations were kind of tragic. I played vanilla and on normal life, and it took me until the day before X's birthday to get married. I was so scared he was gonna die without children, causing me to fail the challenge on the first try lol. He actually was engaged before, but his fiancé showed up the night before the wedding as an elder!! My boy had to start all over. UGH! He eventually found someone, but he had to propose to her three times! FINALLY he got married and had two children before he croaked.
His wife died on their son's teen birthday, leaving both children an orphan! I was terrified social services was gonna come and take them away! 🤣 I didn't know yet that teenagers were just baby-faced adults. 😑 But man, that period was hard. Those poor kids had to grow up way too fast. They got jobs to pay the bills, and they had almost zero free time. They were tired ALL the time because all they did was work. They had their jobs, but they also had a garden they had to take care of because the flowers paid the lion's share of the bills. They stopped doing their homework because it took up too much time. Their grades plummeted, and the principal called every day. But somehow I discovered you could have their birthdays at any time, so I aged the oldest one up like 4 or 5 days early because those poor kids needed a break!
(more generations under the cut)
At the end of generation two and through three, I felt like I had a good handle on the game and what it could do, so my curiosity came out and so did Stories By Jes2G lol. That's when this story started to get real messy LOL. My heir had a girlfriend, but the relationship wasn't really going anywhere so he started seeing this other girl. But he didn't know girlfriend #1 was pregnant! He fell all the way in love with girlfriend #2, moved her in (learned my lesson from gen 1!!), married her, and knocked her up. They had a happy little family for a while. No sooner than he forgot about girlfriend #1, the bastard son showed up at his door all casual like my mama said you're my daddy...nice house! 🤣 That did not go over well. As a matter of fact, his wife was very upset and tried to burn off some steam on the treadmill. But she was an elder and... RIP Adalynn.
Generation four was when I learned just how much you can learn about your characters just by letting them be autonomous and watching them go. The tragedy of this generation was what happens when two horny teens get married out of high school lol. Those two had nothing in common and led two separate lives under the same roof. That was partly because I was focused on making them complete their aspirations, but also they rarely interacted with each other when they were autonomous. The wife was a career woman and was not interested in having a third child. But the first two were girls, and this legacy was a strict patriarchy and I needed a son. That caused a lot of drama in the story, but he found a way to make her give in. But things were never the same, and she eventually divorced him and left the kids which of course affected the next generation.
Every generation up til like...seven had some kind of drama/tragedy, and I didn't realize it until I stopped and read the story myself. I was like WHOA! This is so much! This is what I put my readers through? LOL I made sure to tone things down in the second half of gen 8 because we needed the break. We had peace and happiness for a while followed by a veeery slow burn. Then I kicked the drama back up and ended on a hopeful tragic note, bring back the fall out from the gen 3 mess. It was a great ride!
I used to love building in The Sims 3, but something about this game's building mechanics completely turned me off. To be honest, I don't quite know what it is about building that just infuriates me. So the generations two through like...eight(???), my legacy house was made up of styled rooms lol. I honestly don't know anyone else who even used those things. I'd just piece together those rooms and close them in with walls lol. Needless, the legacy house was very odd and much bigger than it needed to be because of all these oddly shaped blank spaces. 😅 I made use of every single one of them too!

Innocent Until Proven Guilty
Pairing: Peter Parker x Reader
Synopsis: when the Avengers notice signs of Peter having a girlfriend, they suspect he’s not as innocent as he seems
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Hey Pete the treat.” Tony greeted Peter as he passed him in the hallway. “Have you seen my screwdriver with the orange handle?”
“Oh, yeah.” Peter remembered. “I used it to fix my web shooters. It’s on my desk in my room.”
“Mind if I grab it?”
“Would you listen if I said no?” Peter asked, assuming he knew the answer?
“Nope.” Tony smiled at how well Peter knew him. “I’ll go get it.”
Tony waltzed into Peters room and went straight to his desk, rummaging through the papers and sketches he had strewn about.
“Now where are you hiding?” Tony drummed his fingers on his chin as he looked around Peters desk. He opened the top drawer and found nothing, so he opened the next drawer and began to rummage around. After moving a notebook to the side, Tony found an unopened box of condoms among Peters things.
“Hm.” Tony furrowed his eyebrows at the surprising find. “Well it’s better to be safe than sorry.”
He put it down and continued searching through the draw before the box caught his eye again.
“Value pack?” Tony read off the box. “Jesus.”
He shut the drawer and found the screwdriver in the next drawer, mindlessly tucking it into his pocket. As he left Peters room, the box stayed in his mind. He walked into the living room and found the rest of the Avengers chatting.
“What do you guys think about Peter?” Tony wondered as he toyed with the screwdriver.
“I don’t think about Peter.” Sam deadpanned.
“He seems lonely, no?” Tony shrugged. “He could use a companion of the female variety.”
“We should set him up.” Steve suggested. “He could use someone.”
“I don’t know.” Nat scrunched her nose. “He seems too young to be dating.”
“He’s in college now. It’s about time he gets a girlfriend.” Tony decided. “I had dozens by the time I was his age.”
“Are we even sure he likes girls?” Rhodey asked.
“He complimented my hair color once.” Nat shrugged.
“There we go.” Tony nodded, getting excited now.
“What are you guys talking about?” Bucky asked quietly as he entered the room.
“We want to set Peter up on a date.” Steve told him.
“Parker? I’m pretty sure he has a girlfriend.” Bucky said, making everyone look at him.
“What?” Tony asked. “No way.”
“Yeah. My room is next to his.” He shrugged. “He’s on the phone all night almost every night.”
“What?” Nat laughed in surprise. “With who?”
“Someone named Y/n I’m pretty sure.” Bucky went on. “I hear her name a lot.”
“Y/n.” Tony rolled it around his mind. “Interesting. I have to know more.”
“I think if Peter wanted us to know more, he’d tell us.” Nat clicked her tongue.
“And I think I don’t care.” Tony retorted. “I’m gonna find out more.”
That night, Tony sat in the dark as he waited for Peter to come home. He heard the elevator coming up and shivered with excitement at the incoming confrontation.
“Hey, Parker.” Tony dramatically turned on the light once Peter walked in the room, making Peter jump.
“Hi Mr. Stark.” Peter stammered as he took off his coat.
“Are you just getting back?” Tony asked coyly.
“Yeah, I was out with my…friend.” Peter shifted his eyes at the mention of you.
“Oh really?” Tony feigned a gasp. “What’s his name?”
“Her name is Y/n.” Peter said casually. “I was with her.”
“So I see.” Tony nodded. “Is she from school?”
“Yeah. She’s in my organic chemistry class.”
“So one might say you two have…chemistry?” Tony shrugged as he walked closer to Peter.
“Anyone with our schedules would say that.” Peter laughed nervously.
“Whats she like?” Tony persisted. “Is she pretty?”
“She’s great.” Peter smiled. “She can talk circles around me about just about anything. I don’t even know why we’re in the same class. She’s so much smarter than everyone in the room, even the professor. She’s just...she’s great.”
“So I hear.” Tony smirked. Peter completely avoided the “pretty” question, and that told Tony everything he needed to know.
“Hear?” Peter asked curiously. “What did you hear?”
“Thin walls, buddy.” Tony knocked on the wall. “Bucky told us all about your late night phone calls with your lady friend.”
“Oh, I’m sorry.” Peters face heated up. “I’ll be quieter.”
“You don’t have to be quieter.” Tony told him. “Bucky doesn’t deserve a peaceful nights sleep.”
“Why do you say that?” Peter asked.
“Because he murdered my parents. Night!” Tony threw up a peace sign before leaving the room. Peters jaw dropped a little before shutting. He quickly pulled out his phone and clicked on your contact.
“I think Mr. Stark is onto us” He texted you.
“Good. He can pay for our wedding 👀” You wrote, making him smile. He put his phone away and went to bed himself.
~
A few weeks later, Tony needed the screwdriver again and had an idea of where he could find it.
“Hey Pete. Did you use the screwdriver again?” Tony asked when he found Peter in the hallway.
“Yeah. It should be in the same place.” Peter informed him.
“Thanks.” Tony nodded and went into Peters room. He went to the desk, expecting to find the screwdriver in the same drawer it was in last time. When he didn’t find it there, he opened the drawer above it. Right on top of a pile of notebooks was the box from last time.
“I shouldn’t.” Tony sighed and chewed his lip. “But I’m feeling snoopy.”
Tony picked up the box and to his surprise, it was significantly lighter. Tony opened it up and peered inside, only to see it was nearly empty.
“Who did this to you?” Tony gasped. “Who took your goodies?”
Elsewhere in the tower, Peter was heading back to his room when he crashed into Natasha.
“Oh, sorry.” Peter apologized as he caught her before he could knock her over.
“It’s fine.” Natasha assured him, sniffing the air a little. “Why do you smell so good?”
“Hygiene is very important to me.” Peter straightened his shoulders to solidify his lie.
“Yeah, but,” she sniffed him again, “you smell fruity.”
“I’m a fruity boy.” Peter stated, regretting it immediately.
“Oh.” Natasha backed away a little, giving him a strange look.
“Not that kind of fruity.” Peter stammered. “I have to go.”
Just as Peter scurried away, Sam walked into the hallway.
“Am I crazy or did Peter smell like perfume?” Natasha pointed behind him.
“I don’t care.” Sam mumbled as he walked by.
“Romanoff.” Tony rounded the corner after leaving Peters room. “I think the Manchurian Candidiate was right. I think Peter has a girlfriend.”
“I think so too.” Natasha nodded. “He smelled like perfume just now.”
As Tony and Natasha exchanged evidence, Sam passed by Peters room just as he was going inside.
“Hey Sam.” Peter greeted before he shut his door.
“Don’t talk to me, Parker.” Sam mumbled without looking up.
“Sorry.” Peter chuckled and rolled his eyes, making Sam briefly look up.
“What’s that?” Sam narrowed his eyes when he spotted something peeking out over Peters collar.
“Whats what?” Peter asked as he pulled away.
“On your neck.” Sam caught his collar and pulled it down. “Is that a hickey?”
“No.” Peter said quickly as he covered his neck with his hand. “I burnt my neck with my curling iron.”
“Oh, okay.” Sam was satisfied with the answer. “Wait, what?”
“Bye Sam!” Peter stammered as he quickly shut the door.
~
Tony’s plans to interrogate Peter about his love life the following day were halted when he found Peters room empty. A quick check in with Friday showed Peter leaving earlier that morning with a few presents in hand. Tony sighed and went on with day, anxiously waiting for Peter to come home to get more information.
“Another late night.” Tony announced his presence as he flicked on the light. It wasn’t until after midnight that Peter had come back, so Tony waited him out in the living room.
“Oh, hi Mr. Stark.” Peter waved awkwardly, not having expected anyone to be there.
“Were you with Y/n again?” Tony asked casually.
“Yeah.” Peter smiled shyly as he shed his jacket. “It’s her birthday so I spent the day with her.”
“How come I never see her here?” Tony proceeded with caution, not wanting to overstep.
“She lives kinda far.” Peter shrugged. “That’s why we talk on the phone so much. I don’t want her driving all the way out here and she doesn’t want me swinging at night.”
“She knows?” Tony raised an eyebrow, not realizing they were at that level yet.
“Yes. But I only told her because I trust her.” Peter quickly assured him. “She won’t tell anyone. She promised me.”
“Oh, I’m not mad.” Tony smirked. “Trust is good. Especially in relationships, so I hear.”
“Yeah.” Peter smiled at the thought of you. “It’s good. We’re really good.”
“Have you told her you loved her yet?” Tony jumped to the point, taking Peter by surprise. “Because that smile on your face says you do.”
“I have.” Peter admitted as his face flushed. “And she told me she loves me too.”
“Aw.” Tony couldn’t help but smile at his protégé being in love. He was so moved that he took out one of his business cards and scribbled something on the back of it.
“Here.” He handed it to Peter. “Don’t abuse it.”
“Whats this?” Peter curiously looked at the number Tony had written in the card.
“It’s the number for my personal driver. One of them.” He corrected himself. “I always forget who I employ so I have about 18. This one makes unforgettable coffee cake, though.”
“Thanks Mr. Stark.” Peter smiled in appreciation. “But why are you giving this to me?”
“So you and Y/n can see each other.” Tony said simply. “And so more people can experience this coffee cake.”
“Thank you. I really appreciate this.” Peter said softly, knowing Tony wasn’t much for displays of affection.
“Don’t mention it.” Tony brushed it off. “Really, don’t. I don’t have enough personal drivers for everyone. I mean, I probably do, but I’m not known to share.”
“I won’t tell.” Peter nodded. “Goodnight, Mr. Stark.”
Tony have Peter a fond smile before nodding as well.
“Night kid.”
~
“Mails here.” Tony announced the following morning as the team sat around the kitchen table.
“Thanks for bringing it in.” Steve reached for an envelope addressed to him. “Who delivered it today? Was it Michelle or Rodney?”
“Michelle.” Tony concurred.
“Oh, nice.” Steve smiled. “I like her. She’s always friendly to me.”
“Yeah. Nice girl. Nice name too.” Tony put the plan into action. “That was the name of the first girl I ever kissed.”
“I remember my first kiss.” Steve recalled. “It was at a school dance when I was in high school. I bought her a milkshake after and she never spoke to me again.”
“What about you, Peter?” Natasha asked causally. “Have you had your first kiss?”
“Um, yeah.” Peter chuckled like it was obvious.
“With who?” Steve asked curiously, and the rest of the team leaned in to hear the answer.
“Um, my girlfriend.” Peter flushed a deep red as he avoided eye contact with the group. Everyone collectively let out a gasp at the news, making Peter flush even deeper. He looked up to a table full of dropped jaws and wide eyes and felt his ears turn red.
“Isn’t it neat?” Tony tried to take the attention off Peter. “The innocence of young love.”
“Yeah. Innocence.” Sam narrowed his eyes at Peter as the hickey on his neck suddenly made sense.
“When can we meet her?” Nat asked, and everyone nodded softly. Peter looked around in surprise, not having expected everyone to care as much as they did.
“You want to meet her?” He asked with a small smile.
“Of course.” Tony shrugged. “You’re on our team and if she’s your girlfriend-“
“She’s on our team too.” Sam concluded with a gentle nod. Everyone nodded in agreement, making Peters heart swell in appreciation.
“She was gonna come over so I could swing her around the city.” Peter told them. “I could ask her to come up and say hello.”
“I think you should.” Natasha encouraged. Peters lips twitched into a smile as he pulled out his phone to tell you to come up. Within a few minutes, you were coming up the elevator and Peters heart was pounding in his chest. He met you at the elevator and escorted you to the rest of the Avengers, his hand holding yours.
“Hi.” You smiled shyly as you met the team. “It’s nice to meet all of you. I’m Y/n.”
“Nice to meet you too.” Steve said politely. “I’m-“
“Steve, right?” You smiled a little. “Um, Peter talks about you guys all the time. You’re also a little famous.” You chuckled, and everyone laughed as well, breaking the ice.
“Yeah, I guess we are.” Steve smiled back at you. “So you’re the girlfriend? I can’t say Peter has told us that much about you.”
Peter looked at you anxiously, hoping you wouldn’t take that the wrong way.
“It’s okay.” You laughed and rubbed his shoulder. “We agreed to keep it on the down low. Plus, I doubt there’s anything about me that could impress the Avengers.”
“That’s not true.” Peter cut in as he twirled your hair around his finger. “You’re very impressive.”
“Tell us more.” Nat smiled as she leaned on her hand. Everyone watched you and Peters display of affection with childlike wonder, a collective peace settling in the room as they watched the baby of the team experience happiness.
“Y/n volunteers as a candy striper at the children’s hospital a few blocks from here. When she’s not with me, she’s there.” Peter bragged about you. “And she’s a lifeguard in the summers, CPR certified, valedictorian of her class, organ donor-“
“These are not impressive things.” You laughed as you cut him off.
“Yes they are.” Peter insisted. “She can make the worlds best brownies, her ponytails are always perfect on the first try, she can parallel park, she-“
“She sounds amazing.” Tony cut him off as he smiled at you. “And we’re very happy to finally meet her.”
“I just can’t believe the guy who watches Dance Moms in the living room with no shame actually has a girlfriend.” Sam snorted. “And a normal one too.”
“Why is it so surprising?” You wondered as you leaned on Peter arm.
“Because he’s so innocent.” Sam shrugged. “I doubted he ever even held a girls hand.”
“Wait, you thought Peter was innocent?” You laughed abruptly. “He literally webbed me to the headboard last night and-“
“Ah ah ah.” Peter quickly cut you off. “Some things are better left unsaid.”
“I think she should say them.” Bucky chuckled as he sipped his coffee.
“One time, he used his-“
“Well, Y/n and I really need to get going.” Peter cut you off and quickly ushered you to the door. “We won’t be out late.”
“It was nice meeting you all.” You called as Peter pulled you out the door.
“Nice meeting you too.” Tony yelled back. He and the team exchanged knowing looks, a collective happiness for Peter settling among them.

Your tags! I need a Tom amnesia storyline more than anything now
PLEASE I already have 5 WIPs going, I can't start a sixth 😭😭❤️
That being said this concept also has not left me alone. So I have in fact added it to the list of fics I'd like to eventually write, but since who knows whether or not I'll ever get to it...
So the thing is I actually had a friend in high school whose parents owned horses, and she had a horrible accident where she was trying to help break in an unruly young horse, and it threw her off and kicked her in the head. She suffered about 6 months of amnesia, which meant she woke up in the hospital and did not remember, among other things, that her boyfriend had broken up with her, so she started asking after him. Unfortunately the brain trauma meant her short-term memories weren't encoding properly, so someone would have to explain to her every day that she and her boyfriend had broken up, at which point she would be devastated and cry.... And then forget by the next day and ask for him and have to go through the whole process again. Eventually her short-term memories did start encoding again, but she never got back those 6 months.
I like the idea of Tom getting a head injury (car accident, maybe?) after Lion in the Meadow, and then forgetting everything going back to a couple days before Logan's birthday, so here you go:
He comes to slowly. He can hear the beeping of what sounds like a heart monitor. His head feels fuzzy and... heavy? He feels like he may be on drugs.
"Tom? Tom?" He doesn't recognize the voice coming from his left. He forces his eyes open and blinks twice. Squints. He doesn't recognize the face either.
The face clearly recognizes him, though, and grins stupidly at him. "You're awake! God, Tom, I- I was worried about you, man. When Shiv called me she made it sound like it was, uh. Pretty bad." He's leaning over Tom, with an overly earnest look on his face. He's got big round eyes like a baby deer. He seems to be telling the truth, although Tom for the life of him can't figure out who he is and why he'd be so concerned. However, the face apparently knows Shiv, so that's a place to start, maybe.
"Where is Shiv?"
The face blinks at him. "Oh. Uh. She was here, for a while, but she had to go. A work thing."
"Oh." That makes sense. There's only a couple weeks left until midterms, so something must've happened with Joyce's campaign. Tom tries not to feel disappointed.
"How do you know Shiv?"
The face blinks at him again. "What?"
"What do you mean, 'what'? It's a pretty straightforward question, isn't it?"
There's a long pause. "Dude, are you seriously razzing me right now? Because that isn't funny."
"What? No. I'm not 'razzing' you. I feel like 'how do you know my girlfriend' is a perfectly valid question."
When Tom says 'girlfriend', a look of concern washes over the face.
"Your what?"
"My girlfriend," Tom says slowly, over-enunciating the word like he's speaking to a toddler. "Are you stupid? Maybe you should be the one hooked up to a monitor."
The face gets more concerned, and then the guy stands up - he's absurdly tall, Tom realizes - and says, with just an edge of panic to his voice: "Hey, I'm gonna be right back, okay, Tom? I'm just gonna- I'm just gonna go get somebody."
Tom watches him go bemusedly, smoothing down his covers absentmindedly. He wonders what they're made out of - they're coarser than he's used to - and glances down.
There's a wedding ring on his left hand.
His chest tightens. He screws his eyes shut and then opens them. It's still there. He takes his right hand and slides it off his finger to check if it's real. It sure as hell feels real.
He puts it back on his finger and quietly starts to panic.
It's only a couple more minutes until a woman in a white coat - a doctor presumably - comes into the room, followed by the guy from before. He doesn't sit back down by the bed; instead, he hovers awkwardly by the door to the room. The doctor crosses to the foot of the bed and picks up the chart.
"How are you feeling, Mr. Wambsgans?"
"Uh, fine. A little fuzzy. What happened?"
"You were in a car wreck. You're actually quite lucky you weren't more seriously injured, but you did take quite a blow to the head."
"Huh. Okay. How long have I been out for."
The doctor hums quietly. "Only a couple of days."
"Oh."
"I'm going to ask you a couple of questions, just to see where your head's at." She flashes a smile at him that doesn't make Tom feel any better. "What's today's date?"
Tom's mouth is dry. "Uh, well if I was out for a couple of days, it's- It's probably, what, November 4 or 5?" He glances at the guy by the door as he says it, and watches his eyes go wide as saucers. That's not good.
The doctor hums again and taps her pen on the chart. "What year?"
"2017. It's 2017, right?"
The guy by the door sucks in a breath, which makes the doctor turn and look at him. "Mr. Hirsch, would you mind giving us a few moments?"
"Right. Of course. Sorry." He slips out of the room and shuts the door, but Tom can see him hovering in the hallway through the glass window.
The doctor comes and sits down by the bed. "Okay, Mr. Wambsgans. You do appear to be experiencing some memory loss. That's not altogether uncommon for injuries of this nature, so I wouldn't get too worried yet."
"Okay. How much time have I lost?"
"Well, today's date is June 8, 2018."
Tom feels like he's going to throw up. "Eight months? I've lost eight fucking months?"
"Like I said, I wouldn't worry about it too much yet. It's very possible that it'll come back once your brain has some time to heal."
She continues talking, asking other questions about specific symptoms, talking about recovery timelines, but Tom's only half-listening. His mind is racing - apparently, he got married in the last eight months. To Shiv, presumably. That makes sense - it's somewhat of a relief, actually, because the last thing he remembers is carrying around the ring for weeks, waiting for the right moment to ask for Logan's blessing, and quietly panicking and backing out of every opportunity. Presumably he'd eventually found the guts to do it, and it'd gone well.
He realizes the doctor is getting up to leave. "Hey, can you send that guy back in here?"
"Of course," she says, and he watches her step out and say something to the guy, who nods and comes back in. He stays hovering by the door, though, which Tom finds supremely irritating for reasons he doesn't fully understand.
"Come over here and sit down," he snaps, a little harsher than he intended, and the guy does. Tom takes a second to collect his thoughts.
"Okay. First things first. How do you know Shiv?"
"She's my cousin."
"Huh." Shiv had mentioned her Canadian cousin offhand to him, once or twice. He tries to search his memory for a name. "... Craig?"
"It's, uh. It's Greg, actually,"
"Right. Greg." Tom holds his hand out for Greg to shake. "Tom Wambsgans."
"Yeah, dude, I know," Greg says, but he shakes Tom's hand anyways.
"Huh. Okay. So why are you here right now?" It's understandable that Shiv might've sent an emissary, of sorts, if she couldn't be here, but picking her cousin rather than any one of her brothers seems... odd. He notices that Greg hesitates for a second before answering.
"We're, uh... We're close."
"Really?" Tom is skeptical.
"Yeah. We're like... We're friends. You're kind of my best friend, actually." He looks nervous as he says it, and Tom is a little suspicious that this guy might be trying to grift him somehow, although he can't figure out how or why.
"We're best friends?"
Greg shrugs. "Yeah. We met at Logan's birthday party."
"Oh." That's... plausible. "And we became best friends?"
"Well, you're also my boss. I'm your executive assistant."
"I have an executive assistant?" That's new. That's also encouraging. That means, almost definitely, that he got a sizeable promotion.
"Yeah. You're the chairman of ATN."
"What?" That bowls him over. "You're fucking with me."
"Nope." Greg looks a little chagrined. "Wish I was."
Tom processes this for a second. Then, he holds up his left hand. "And I'm married? To Shiv?"
"Yeah. You guys got married a few months ago. March 10."
"Oh." He hums softly to himself and looks down at the ring. Now that he's had a bit more time to process it, it makes him feel warm and happy. Secure. "Was it a nice wedding?"
"Oh, yeah, it was like. At a castle in England. Shiv's mom's castle I think? Or, not her mom's castle but- in her mom's family. I forget exactly how." He pauses for a second. "Kendall did start a takeover bid, but other than that it was nice."
"He started a what?"
"Yeah, it was like... a whole thing. Still is, kind of. But- I mean that's a lot, and we can talk about it when you're feeling better."
"Sure."
They fall into silence. Greg's face looks pinched, and Tom feels kind of bad for him. He still suspicious of all this 'friend' stuff - this is not a world in which a person really has 'friends' - but he's becoming less convinced that this guy is trying to grift him.
"I mean, with any luck my memory will came back soon, and you won't have to tell me."
"Right. Of course."
**********
His memory never does come back.
It's inordinately frustrating, sitting through therapy session after therapy session, trying and failing to summon any memories at all. After the umpteenth MRI scan, when the doctors tell him that it's unlikely they'll ever come back, he's almost relieved because it means he can stop trying.
It also means they let him go home - which is apparently an entirely different home than the one he remembers. It's a gorgeous apartment, incredibly spacious, so he feels guilty for his disappointment. It's just unsettling, stepping back into a life he doesn't remember, that doesn't quite feel like his own, like he's stepping into the skin of someone who's a lot like him but isn't actually him.
Once he gets home, he doesn't want to wait too long to get back into the office, but he does take a couple of days to get settled. On the second day, while Shiv is at work (which is now apparently Waystar, and his boss - when he'd asked about the plan, she'd hesitated, and then said that they'd made some modifications to the plan, and he'd just nodded and tried to take it in stride) he opens his phone and reads back through the last eight months of text messages, trying to piece together what he can't remember.
He starts with Greg, if only because the guy seems to be pretty attached to him, and he really needs to know if they're actually friends or if there's something else going on. He scrolls back through months of texts - quite a lot of texts, actually. Near-constant texts. They text almost every day, sometimes about work, sometimes about nothing at all. Apparently, they've been going out in the evenings fairly frequently too. It really gives merit to that friend theory, and Tom has to pause to process that. He hasn't actually had a friend in... a long time. It makes him feel a little bit choked up. It's a nice feeling, to know that he has a friend, even if the guy vaguely reminds him of an inflatable tube man.
He is also, apparently, kind of an asshole to Greg. That part doesn't really surprise him, beyond a faint sort of surprise that Greg's been agreeing to hang out with him anyways. Maybe Greg is just a masochist.
There are so many texts that he doesn't bother scrolling more than a couple of months back before he switches over to Shiv. His texts with Shiv are less frequent, and the recent ones are... stilted, although he can't quite put a finger on what's wrong with them. A couple of months back, he comes to one that makes him pause.
Hey, I'm going to be staying out tonight.
Okay
The arrangement?
Yeah. That okay?
Yeah, of course.
Be safe.
Of course.
I love you.
I love you too.
He frowns at it. There's a vague sense of foreboding that he can't quite place. He scrolls back further, finding a few more references to "the arrangement", never with any additional context.
He asks about it when they're sitting on the couch together later that evening, and Shiv's entire body stiffens immediately. She puts her drink down on the coffee table in front of them, and turns to him, ever so slowly. She hesitates for a moment that seems to stretch on forever, and Tom's anxiety starts to build. Finally, she says, without quite looking him in the eye, "We... have an open marriage."
Tom feels like someone has punched him in the solar plexus. "We... have an open marriage?" He knows he didn't hear it wrong, but he's hoping that she'll say he did. Instead, she just nods.
"Oh." He looks down at the drink in his own hands. He has questions - a million of them - but he can't figure out what to ask first, and he's also afraid of what the answers will be.
"I mean, it's really- It's not, like, a thing." Shiv says quickly, placing her hand on his shoulder. "It's like - you're the king and I'm the queen, so what does it matter if we fuck the odd peasant? That's what you said." She laughs a bit.
"Oh, so this- this was my idea?" He can't imagine a world in which he ever would have wanted this.
Shiv bites her lip. "Well- no. It was mine. But we- we agreed about it."
"Uh-huh." There's something else here that he can't quite place. He doesn't think Shiv is lying to him, but there's a missing puzzle piece he can't figure out. Before he can figure out what to ask, though, she leans over and kisses him, deeply, and then starts unbuttoning his shirt - and it's been so long (at least since the last time he can remember) that he doesn't have it in him to stop her.
*********************
It's 9:30 in the morning, on his first day back in the office, and Tom is lying on his office floor behind his desk in a state of utter despair.
He'd blocked off the whole first day back, with the expectation that Greg - who should be here any minute - would help him get up to speed, so he'd been genuinely unprepared to find Gerri Kellman already in his office when he'd arrived at 8:30am.
It had only gotten worse from there.
He hears a knock at his office door, and (praying that it's Greg and not somebody else) he calls out "Come in!"
"Tom?" It is Greg.
"I'm over here. Behind the desk." He doesn't bother getting up, just listens to Greg's footsteps come around until Greg is standing over him, looking concerned.
"Tom? Are you okay? Should I- do you want me to call someone?"
"No, Greg, I'm not okay. No, you should absolutely not call anyone."
"Okay." Greg looks at him wide-eyed with those stupid fucking doe eyes.
"Did you know that I'm going to prison, Greg?"
Greg's face changes. He looks... guilty, maybe? "They told you about that already?"
"So you did know."
"...Yeah. I mean, I... I wasn't sure what the plan was, anymore, what with you and your... head."
Tom sighs. He wants to be mad at Greg for not giving him a fucking heads up, especially if they're supposed to be friends - but then again Shiv didn't either, and he's not sure how she would react if he confronts her now; plus, he's still feeling raw from the discovery that apparently she's been fucking other people with his blessing, and he doesn't want to poke at that wound. Greg, on the other hand, at least has the decency to pretend to be concerned, and they're supposed to be friends. And fuck does he need a friend right now.
Tom heaves himself upright, sitting under his desk. He points to the bar cart. "Grab that whiskey and two glasses, and then join me on the floor, Greg." He pats the space under the desk next to him.
Greg does as he's told, albeit a little bemusedly, squeezing in on Tom's right side under the desk. Since they're both over six feet tall, it's a tight fit; they're both kind of slouched, shoulders and legs pressed right up next to each other. Tom's not sure why he did this - literally hiding under his fucking desk - but it feels kind of safe and secluded. The blinds over the windows are pulled down, so it's not like anyone will see them under here. He pours a sizeable glass of whiskey for each of them.
"That's- it's, uh. It's 9:30 in the morning," Greg protests weakly, but Tom gives him a look and he takes a reluctant drink.
They sit like that in silence for a couple of minutes, and then Greg quietly says: "If it makes you feel any better. I'm probably going to prison too."
Tom arches an eyebrow at him. "Oh?"
"How much did they tell you?" Greg asks.
"Most of it, I think. They played the video of me in Congress." Truly a horrific experience to watch. Tom thought he'd known what the depths of self-loathing felt like, but he'd discovered brand new levels as he watched himself stumble over even the simplest questions.
"'You can't make a tomlette without breaking some greggs'," Greg quotes, almost to himself, and Tom laughs a bit.
"Yeah, I guess we really are friends. And apparently also partners in crime." He looks Greg up and down. "Really wouldn't have thought it of you, to be honest."
"Me either." Greg hesitates. "It, uh... It wasn't that fun actually. 0/10, don't recommend."
Tom snorts. "Where were you eight months ago."
"Sitting in your office while you threw me into the 'death pit', actually," Greg says, making air quotes around 'death pit'.
"Sorry." Tom does actually feel bad, even though he doesn't remember it. It feels kind of shitty, knowing that he pulled this kid into this and then fucked it up so royally.
It makes him wonder... what else he might've fucked up. He takes a long drink, and then asks, "Am I a good boss?"
Greg side-eyes him for a very long time, saying nothing.
"Well?"
Greg looks at his drink, and takes a deep breath. "Um. Well. You know."
"Yeah, that's not very promising."
"I mean. You got me mixed up in a criminal conspiracy. Also once I tried to transfer departments and you pelted me with water bottles."
"I what?" That seems beyond the pale.
"Yeah. There's a video, actually. Someone else took it."
Shit, so it was public. "Yeah, not sure I want to watch any more videos of myself right now."
"Sure.”
There’s another long silence, but it’s… companionable. He’s staring down the barrel of a loaded gun with this prison thing, but he trusts Greg, inexplicably, if only because he’s put the guy through the wringer and yet he still seems to genuinely care about Tom.
Another thought pops into his head - a possible missing puzzle piece in whatever is going on with Greg.
“Hey, did we ever… You know?”
“What?” Greg’s brow furrows in confusion.
“Like….” Tom really hopes he’s reading this right, because it has the possibility to go colossally sideways if he isn’t. Still. He trusts Greg, he thinks. “Like, do we ever… mess around?”
Greg’s entire body goes stiff. Shit. Fuck. “No- no we haven’t- like we’ve never- you’re married to my cousin.”
“Yeah, but it’s an open marriage so- you know- I just thought maybe- yeah, never mind.” There’s panic racing through Tom, and he tries to hide it as he gauges Greg’s reaction.
Greg looks a little surprised. “Oh. I, um- I didn’t know about the open marriage. It kind of explains a lot.”
He doesn’t say anything else, but he doesn’t make any move to get up or leave either, and slowly Tom’s heart rate comes down.
“I didn’t- I didn’t actually know you, um. That you were into guys,” Greg says softly.
“If you tell anyone-“ Tom’s starts threateningly. He’s not stupid, he knows the workplace culture here - but Greg is shaking his head.
“No, dude, of course not. I wouldn’t- I get it.” Greg hesitates, his fingers toying with the edge of his glass. “I, like- I’m into guys, too.” His cheeks are a bit red, and he doesn’t meet Tom’s gaze.
“Oh.” Tom processes this for a moment. “… Did I know that?”
“No. I don’t think so, anyways.” Greg pauses. “I mean, you did - a couple of weeks ago you did tell me that you’d castrate and marry me in a heartbeat. But I kind of figured that was a prison breakdown thing.”
“I said- for fuck’s sake. I really am an asshole, aren’t I.”
“I mean.. yeah, but I think that whole thing was part of a whole other thing about- Nero and Sporus? Do you…?” Greg trails off looking at Tom expectantly, but Tom shakes his head. Nero and Sporus. He’s going to have to google that later.
Tom takes a second to process. Suddenly, he becomes keenly aware of Greg pressed up against him. He hasn’t moved since they started this conversation.
He turns it over and over in his head. He’s got an open marriage that Shiv asked for. He’s got this friend - inexplicably - who he is apparently just friends with, despite the constant texts and the emails (which Tom started reading on his way in this morning), but who he would apparently castrate and marry in a heartbeat… platonically? Who is sitting here with him under his desk even though Tom has been an utter dickwad to him for about eight months.
And who he trusts. It’s not just the texts and the emails and the cruises debacle - there’s something deeper, like a sense memory, which tells him he can trust Greg. Trust is not something he feels easily. Maybe he’s just feeling overwhelmed, and Greg is an easy anchor - but he thinks that maybe. Maybe it’s more than that.
Slowly - infinitesimally slowly - and without looking at Greg, he reaches over and places his right hand on Greg’s left knee.
Greg doesn’t move for a long moment, and Tom is about to snatch his hand back and apologize when suddenly he feels a warm pressure on his hand. He flicks his eyes over and sees Greg’s hand overtop of his. Tom lets go of Greg’s knee and curls his fingers around Greg’s hand, so that they’re sitting there holding hands. Under his desk, Tom thinks, suddenly aware of the absurdity.
He feels Greg shift, and he can feel Greg’s eyes on him. He takes a second to gather his courage, then he turns so that his eyes meet Greg’s.
There’s a split-second where they stare at each other, anticipation hanging in the air between them, and then Tom lets go of Greg’s hand and - before he can chicken out - reaches up to take Greg’s hand and pull it down towards him, hoping that this isn’t going to turn out to be the stupidest thing he’s ever done. His worries vanish almost immediately, though, when Greg crashes into him with an almost puppyish enthusiasm, and then the next thing Tom knows Greg is straddling his lap, his drink forgotten, one hand braced by Tom’s head under the desk and the other travelling up and down his side until it lands on his waist. The kiss is messy and passionate; Tom slides one hand around to the back of Greg’s head and one arm around his midriff, holding him there, and it feels so comfortable and familiar - it feels like home.
Eventually, Greg pulls back for air, and Tom can’t help but laugh at him, albeit fondly; Greg’s face breaks into a stupid goofy grin.
“Are you sure we haven’t done this before?” Tom asks.
“I think I’d probably remember that,” Greg answers, and Tom chuckles to himself.
He doesn’t want to leave it there, but they are under his desk still, and it’s - he checks his watch - 10am, and there’s a lot to do today. Plus - he doesn’t really know this Greg guy, not yet, and he’s always considered himself a gentleman, so it feels wrong to do anything else before they’ve even gone on a date.
“I think we need to get to work,” Tom says, and Greg’s face drops just a little, but he pulls himself to his feet. “Hey- help me up,” Tom adds, snapping his fingers, and Greg grabs his hands and pulls him to his feet.
“Okay. I need you to run me through everything we’re working on, which will probably take all day. And then,” he pauses significantly to throw Greg a glance, “I’m taking you out tonight.” Greg’s whole face lights up immediately at that.
“Okie dokie,” he says, rubbing his hands together, and then he walks over to Tom’s filing cabinet and pulls it open. “Where do you want to start?”

Tumblr media
It’s crazy how much things could change and yet stay the same in the span of a year.
You still loved your home pack, going back to see the Alphas, Betas, and Omegas that helped shaped you into the person you were today at least once a month. You were still spoiled by your parents, who made it their personal mission to shower you with gifts whenever they had the opportunity to see their only child. Most of all, you still used the skills that you had learned in your childhood pack as you prepared to become leader of your new pack with your husband.
Speaking of your husband, Namjoon was the best and most enjoyable change in your life as you had spent the past year falling in love with him.
Admittedly, adjusting to being in a marriage and to a man that you did not know or choose beforehand was hard, but you quickly found out that Namjoon was one of the most amazing people that you had ever met in your life. He was strong, dependable, and trustworthy just like a typical Alpha but you were delighted to find that he was also big on communication and making sure that you felt comfortable enough to talk to him, he was caring, and even sensitive in certain situations. He had quickly become your best friend and you found yourself falling for him not long after the wedding was over.
“Y/N?” Eun Kyung called out and you shook your head as you broke out of your thoughts.
“I’m sorry,” you apologized sheepishly as you turned to look at your mother in law. “Can you repeat what you said? I wasn’t listening.”
“I see that,” she smiled knowingly. “A lot on your mind?”
“Kind of,” you shrugged as you fiddled with the handle of the tea cup that was in front of you.
“Well, that’s understandable sweetie,” she assured you. “We’ve all been so busy getting ready for the Coronation, it’s no wonder that your thoughts are all over the place.”
In the year since you and Namjoon had gotten married, Namjoon’s father Ho-jin had begun to slowly pass over the responsibilities of being Pack Alpha over to Namjoon. Two months ago, he had announced his official retirement and Namjoon would be having a Coronation to celebrate a new era of power. Of course, you would be celebrated as well given the fact that you would be replacing Eun Kyung as Pack Omega.
“Anything you want to discuss?” Eun Kyung wondered.
“You don’t mind?”
“Y/N-ah, that’s what we started these weekly tea dates for, remember?” She pointed out with a giggle and you smiled as you thought back on how your mother in law had insisted that you two meet every Tuesday aftermoon in order to talk and spend time together. At first, you were weary of it but it’s quickly become one of the highlights of your week, every week.
“I guess I’m just nervous about becoming Pack Omega,” you confessed. “I mean, I’m not from this pack and even though it seems like everyone likes me well enough, that might change once Namjoon’s officially Pack Alpha.”
“You remember how I told you about how my marriage to Ho-jin was arranged and how I replaced his mother when the time came?” Eun Kyung asked and you nodded your head. “I had the exact same fears as you do now and my mother in law, may she rest with the ancestors, gave me an amazing piece of advice that I have used continuously over the past 30 years. Wanna know what it is?”
“Yeah.”
“Your only duty as Pack Omega is to support your Alpha,” Eun Kyung began. “Whether that means reassuring him that he’s making a right decision, comforting him when he’s stressed and upset or even cussing him out when he’s dead wrong. The job of a Pack Leader is a stressful one and they must know that even if it feels like the world is on their shoulders, they will always have one person in their corner and that’s us.”
“That’s it?” You giggled and Eun Kyung nodded with a smile, pausing to take a sip of her tea before continuing.
“It seems intuitive right, because we’re Omegas ourselves but being the spouse of a Pack Leader means that we always have to shoulder a little bit more, whether it be more pain, more sadness, more hope,” she explained. “But I guarantee you, making sure that Namjoon is taken care will be the greatest thing that you can do for the pack.”
“I believe you,” you said. “I just know that Namjoon isn’t gonna make it easy for me. You know how he is about work and making sure the pack’s taken care of.”
“Don’t worry, Ho-jin already said that he plans to talk to him about finding a healthy balance,” Eun Kyung told you.
“Good,” you smiled as you brought your tea cup to your mouth, taking a long sip from it.
“Speaking of that though, there was actually something that I wanted to talk to you about,” she said and you lowered your cup from your lips.
“Go ahead,” you encouraged her before taking another sip.
“Are you and Namjoon....uh....fulfilling your....marital duties?” She wondered and you choked on your tea, immediately setting your cup down as you coughed harshly. Eun Kyung reached over and gave you several strong pats on the back, which helped you regulate your breathing again.
“Uh, why do you ask?” You chuckled nervously.
“Well, with the coronation coming up, there’s been talk about the fact that you aren’t pregnant yet,” Eun Kyung elaborated and your eyes widened in realization. “Some people are beginning to become concerned.”
“And you’re one of them?” You shot back.
“Yes, but not in the way that you’re thinking,” she laughed. “I’m worried about you as a person and not about your ability to conceive.”
“Why?”
“Because I know what it’s like to have your worth evaluated only in terms of how many kids you can pop out,” she smiled sadly and as her words registered with you, your jaw dropped as you put the pieces together.
“Eun Kyung, you?”
“I struggled with infertility, yes,” she confirmed.
“Oh, I’m so sorry,” you whispered as you reached out, setting one of your hands on top of hers. She turned her hand around and intertwined your fingers with hers.
“Oh, I’m ok sweetie,” she swore. “After Ho-jin and I got married, we had miscarriage after miscarriage and it took six years before I got pregnant with Namjoon and he became our miracle baby. I’m telling you all this because I known how isolating that struggle can be and if that’s the case for you, I wanted you to know that you’re not alone.”
“I appreciate it Eun Kyung, but I don’t think that’s the case for Namjoon and I,” you muttered. “We’re just taking things slow and not rushing it. I mean, we’ve only been married for a year and we have years to have babies.”
“Alright sweetheart, alright,” Eun Kyung laughed. “I just wanted you to know that I’m here for you and if that’s how you and Namjoon feel, then I’ll get everyone else off your back.”
“Thank you,” you smiled gratefully and she tightened the grip that she had on your hand reassuringly.
“No problem. Now, onto more important business,” she grinned. “Finding you a dress to wear for the coronation.” You nodded your head immediately, grateful that she changed the direction of the conversation because you had no idea how to tell her that you and Namjoon had only had sex a handful of times in the last year.
.............................................
After finally leaving Ho-jin and Eun Kyung’s house a few hours later, you went home and made dinner. As usual, Namjoon came home around 6 and the two of you sat down in your dining room together, eating and talking about how your days went.
Everything was going very normally until Namjoon called out to you as you both worked on cleaning up the kitchen.
“Y/N-ah?” He said.
“Hmm?”
“Did my mom say something to you today about a baby?” He wondered and you turned to look over at him, watching as he continued to wash the dishes as if he hadn’t just asked you what he did.
“How did you know?” You asked.
“My father said something about it to me today after our meeting,” Namjoon sighed and you walked over to him, leaning against the counter so that you could look at him.
“She did too, and she told me about her infertility,” you told him. “Why didn’t you ever say anything?”
“Because it’s super personal to her and I didn’t know if she would be comfortable with me telling you,” he explained. “But why do you think I wanted 5 pups initially?”
“I get it now,” you giggled. “What did your dad say when he brought it up?”
“It was definitely less diplomatic than my mom,” he chuckled as he finished rinsing off the dishes and began drying off his hands. “He went on and on about how our family legacy needs to continue on and if we’re able, we need to have at least a few kids.”
“Hmm,” you murmured and Namjoon looked at you skeptically, raising his eyebrow.
“What’s that mean?” He laughed.
“Nothing,” you shrugged as you looked down at your feet but he didn’t buy that, throwing the towel that he was holding onto the counter and moving closer to you.
“Hey, talk to me,” he pleaded and you sighed heavily before squaring your shoulders and looking up at him again.
“Why don’t you ever try to have sex with me?” You demanded to know. “I mean, besides our wedding night, we’ve only had sex during my two heats and your rut, and I’m guessing that you didn't tell your father that.”
“No, I didn’t tell him that,” Namjoon huffed with a smile. “And the reason that I haven’t been trying is because I don’t want to push you. Even though we both agreed to this marriage, it still never leaves my mind that you didn’t really choose this. I don’t want to force you into yet another life changing decision, because pups are forever.”
“Hey, I wasn’t forced into anything,” you gently corrected him. “Yeah, I had to make a choice to save my pack but I did that because I wanted to. Plus, you didn’t necessarily choose this either.”
“I know but still,” he muttered. “I just didn’t want you to think that you were obligated to have sex with me, let alone have my pups. And as for the heat and rut thing, it was easier because you asked for me during your heat and during my rut, I could blame it on my hormones.”
“You sure that it’s not because you’re not attracted to me?” You joked lamely and Namjoon smacked his lips together as he set his hands on your cheeks, forcing you to maintain eye contact with him.
“Baby, you’re the most gorgeous woman that I’ve ever laid my eyes on,” he told you seriously. “I think the world of you, and you know that.”
“It’s kind of hard to remember,” you admitted.
“I should have explained to you my reasoning and for that, I’m sorry,” he apologized. “But don’t you ever think for one second that I don’t want you. I think about you all the time, my Alpha gets nervous anytime that I’m away from you for too long and hell, my cock gets hard as soon as you look at me with these eyes.”
“Namjoon,” you whined through giggles, which made him smile as he looked at you fondly.
“If you’re comfortable with it, I’d have sex with you whenever you wanted,” he said.
“I’m comfortable with it,” you assured him. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” he replied, leaning down and pressing a soft kiss to your lips.
“But what about pups?” You whispered, your lips moving against his as you spoke.
“Baby, I’d love to see you pregnant with my pups,” he told you. “If it were up to just me, you’d always be pregnant. All you have to do is say the word.”
“I want your pups Alpha,” you murmured as you looked up at him through your lashes. “Please.” Without another word, Namjoon bent down and scooped you up into his arms, making you squeal and cling onto him as he carried you bridal style out of the kitchen and up the stairs.
“I could’ve walked!” You exclaimed while giggling.
“This is more romantic,” he winked at you. After making it up the stairs, he walked down the hallway to your bedroom, using one hand to open the door before stepping inside. He walked over to the bed, laying you down gently before crawling on top of you and kissing you passionately.
You moaned into his mouth, your legs coming up to wrap themselves around his waist as you pulled him closer to you. He moved away from your lips eventually, his mouth trailing downwards and sucking on the mating mark that he had given you on your wedding night.
“You’re perfect baby,” he mumbled against your skin and you could barely reply because he had begun to grind against you. The thin layer of your leggings did little to inhibit the feeling, and you felt yourself whining as you became more turned on.
“W-wanna suck you off,” you whispered shyly and he pulled his face out of your neck, looking down at you with a smile.
“Alright,” he nodded before climbing off of you, settling himself next to you on the bed. You sat up then, reaching down and pulling off your t-shirt before letting Namjoon help you unclip your bra. Even though the two of you hadn’t had sex as often as you hoped, you had sex often enough to know that your husband was definitely a breast man and he loved to see them while you gave him a blow job.
You moved down the bed and settled yourself on your stomach in between his legs, pulling down the shorts he had on and his boxers just enough so that his cock fell out, taking ahold of it in both of your hands. He was almost fully hard and you didn’t waste any time taking him into your mouth, swirling your tongue around the tip.
“Fuck,” Namjoon groaned deeply and hearing your Alpha feel good only spurred you on. You then took him as deep into your mouth as you could, making him moan from how good your throat felt around his cock. Once you deemed him wet enough, you began to bob your head up and down, using your hands to stroke the parts of his shaft that you couldn’t reach with your mouth.
“Good girl baby,” he praised you. “So good to my cock.” You could feel yourself getting wet but you were too focused on doing your best to make your husband feel good. As you continued to suck him off for a few minutes, you could feel his cock beginning to throb lightly and you knew that meant that he was close to coming. Just as that thought registered in your mind though, Namjoon reached down and pulled himself out of your mouth.
“What’s wrong?” You wondered.
“You're sucking me off a little too well baby,” he chuckled. “I was about to come embarrassingly fast.”
“That’s ok,” you shrugged.
“Not if you want my pups inside of you instead of in your mouth,” he smirked, making you blush at his words. “Here, switch places with me.” You sat up and shuffled on your knees up the bed, turning yourself around before laying down on your back. Namjoon then sat up and grabbed ahold of the waist band of your leggings, pulling them down along with your panties. You let your legs fall out and Namjoon licked his lips once he set his eyes on your bare pussy.
“I knew it,” he grumbled, reaching out and letting his middle finger ghost over your clit. “I could tell you were getting wet baby, I could smell your scent from your pussy.” Without giving you the chance to reply, he dove forward and sucked your clit into his mouth. You cried out, your back arching up off of the bed as he suckled on your clit.
“Damn it,” you whimpered, lifting your head and watching him as he began to leave wide licks up your slit.
“Let’s see how you do with a finger,” Namjoon muttered, pausing the actions of his tongue in order to slide his middle finger inside of you.
“Oh fuck,” you gasped, letting your had fall back against the bed.
“You’re so tight baby, you’re just swallowing my finger,” Namjoon groaned. You felt movement on the bed and when you opened your eyes, you were surprised to see that Namjoon was now laying next to you on the bed, looking down at you as he pushed a second finger in alongside his
“You want Alpha to make you come like this?” He wondered aloud as he began to thrust his finger in and out of you. “Wanna come on my fingers?”
“Please,” you nodded and he smiled as he began to fuck you faster. Namjoon’s fingers were long and slender, meaning that he as able to reach the deepest parts of you without it being too overwhelming to you.
“Ha, ha,” you moaned in time with his thrusts.
“You’re dripping baby,” he told you but you didn’t even hear him because you could feel your orgasm winding to it’s end in your core.
“I’m gonna come,” you announced and nothing could’ve prepared you for Namjoon pulling his fingers out of you. You whipped your head to look over at him, tears beginning to well up in your eyes as you felt your orgasm slowly but surely slipping away.
“Why?” You pouted and Namjoon cooed at you before leaning over and kissing you firmly for a few seconds before pulling away.
“Alpha wants his Omega to come on his cock while I come inside of you, ok?” He told you and you sighed reluctantly before nodding your head.
Namjoon pushed his shorts and underwear all the way off his legs before reaching up and pulling his t-shirt off as well. He then sat up and moved to settle in between your legs, taking ahold of the base of his cock and tapping the head of it on your clit.
“If you want me to c-come on your cock, d-don’t tease me,” you whined and he just chuckled fondly.
“Ok, I’m sorry baby,” he whispered, guiding his cock into you slowly. You felt like you were going to choke on air as he stretched you out, since you had basically forgotten how long and thick he was.
“Oh, just like that baby,” Namjoon mumbled as he began to slowly thrust in and out of you. “You’re opening up so good for me.”
“A-Alpha,” you whimpered, clutching onto his forearms as he began to fuck you faster. “Fuck, it feels so good.”
“What does?” Namjoon goaded you. “Tell your Alpha baby.”
“Your cock feels good inside me,” you moaned. “Feel so full.”
“God, I can’t believe that I was keeping myself from feeling your tight little pussy every day,” he grumbled. “I’m sorry baby.”
“It’s o-ok,” you stammered back, the beginnings of your orgasm starting to reappear.
“I’m gonna fuck you everyday from here on out if you let me,” he swore, looking down at you with hooded eyes. “Would you want that? Want Alpha to always keep you full with his knot?”
“Please, please, please,” you chanted.
“Want Alpha to fuck a baby into you?”
“Give it to me,” you moaned loudly and Namjoon reached up, sliding two of his fingers into your open mouth. You didn’t even hesitate to start sucking on them, making your husband groan as your tongue slid around the digits.
“Gonna make you come,” he said as he pulled his fingers away from your mouth, reaching down and setting them on your clit. Your mouth dropped open as he began to rub firm circles on the nub and you were almost embarrassed by  how fast the stimulation sped up the pace at which your orgasm was running towards you.
“Holy fuck, don’t stop,” you pleaded. “I’m gonna come.”
“Go ahead baby, I won’t stop you,” he promised as he continued to fuck you and rub your clit. Sure enough, your orgasm slammed into you a few seconds later. The moan that fell out of your mouth was almost deafeningly loud and you were sure that Namjoon would have indents on his arm from where you were gripping onto his skin as your back arched up off of the bed.
“Fuck, you’re squirting baby,” he groaned as he took his hand off of your clit and placed his hands on the bed next to your head, fucking into you even harder now.
“T-too much,” you murmured as you set your hands against his chest.
“You love it though. You’re still coming for me,” he smirked and you couldn’t help but to blush because you could still feel yourself leaking onto his cock.
“I do,” you admitted and he leaned down, pressing a firm kiss to your lips.
“You’re so perfect for me,” he grumbled and you could feel the beginnings of his knot starting to swell. “Squirting for me and marking your Alpha. God, it makes me want to stuff my knot into you and fill you up with my pups.”
“Do it,” you encouraged him. “Give me a baby Joon.”
“I love you,” he grunted and you gave him a small smile.
“I love you too,” you replied, moaning lightly when he kissed you again. As the two of you made out, Namjoon pushed his knot inside of you and you felt his cum start to pour into you. He continued to give you light strokes, making sure to fuck his cum even deeper inside of you than it already was.
“Making sure that it takes huh?” You giggled and he just blushed as he pulled back to look at you.
“Gotta make it worth it,” he pointed out. “Besides, even if you don’t get pregnant this time, we can always try again and again and again.”
“As long as you make me come like that again,” you nodded in agreement.
“Oh, I definitely wanna see that again,” he smirked. “Maybe I should deny you your orgasm more often.”
“I’ll murder you,” you stated firmly, making him laugh loudly.
“I’m joking baby,” he said, leaning down and kissing your mating mark. “Love you.”
“I love you too,” you whispered.
.............................................
A few weeks later, the day of Namjoon’s coronation had finally come. The entire pack was gathered outside near the wall of magnolias that you and Namjoon had gotten married near, waiting for the ceremony to take place.
The two of you were in your shared bedroom, where you were helping him get dressed into his traditional hanbok.
“Are you ok?” You asked him while you fastened the buttons on his chest.
“Yeah, of course,” he chuckled awkwardly. “Why do you ask?”
“You’re trembling,” you giggled and he just sighed heavily.
“I’m terrified,” he admitted. “I’ve been looking forward to being Pack Leader my entire life but what if I’m not good at it? My dad and grandfather were amazing Pack Alphas and what if I can’t measure up?”
“Joon,” you tsked as you reached up and set your hands on his cheeks, making him look you in the eyes. “You can’t compare yourself to anyone else. You are going to be an amazing leader because you’re thoughtful, caring, and selfless.”
“You think so?”
“I know so,” you smiled. “Just like I know that you’ll be an amazing daddy.”
“A daddy?” He repeated confusedly and you nodded your head. It took him a few minutes but when he put the pieces together, his eyes widened. “Baby, are you pregnant?”
“I am,” you nodded, squealing in surprise when Namjoon wrapped his arms around you and picked you up, spinning you around in a circle. “Wait, you’re gonna make me nauseous!”
“Fuck, I’m sorry,” he laughed as he set you back down on the ground. “I just can’t believe it.”
“You’re happy, right?”
“Of course I am,” he sighed contentedly. “I’m so happy that our parents arranged our marriage.”
“Ditto,” you cooed, leaning forward and kissing him gently for a few seconds before pulling away. “Now, we have to go. You have to go and claim your rightful position.”
“We have to claim our rightful position,” he corrected you as he reached down and intertwined your fingers with his. After taking one last look at him to make sure that he looked good, the two of you walked downstairs and out of your house, ready to step into your new roles and the new phase of your lives.

Rebuilding Family
Summary: Y/N and Spencer were college sweethearts at Cal-Tech but once Spencer got accepted to the FBI Academy, he ended things deciding it was not fair to make Y/N wait for him. When they meet again years later, he discovers something unexpected.
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Fem!Reader
Warnings: mentions of gun violence (just references to what happened last chapter, nothing new), hospitals, one swear word
A/N at bottom
Masterlist
Chapter 22
You managed to make the nurse feel bad enough for you that she gave you lots of extra Jell-O.
“Happy birthday, dear Jo,” you and Spencer sang, “Happy birthday to you.”
“Blow out the invisible candle!” you encouraged her.
“I promise we will get you an even bigger cake than before soon,” Spencer kissed her head as she ate a spoonful of the green Jell-O.
“It’s okay, I like Jell-O,” Jo said, outreaching the spoon towards Spencer.
“Me too,” he smiled, taking the bite off the spoon.
Spencer’s phone rang and you saw it displaying Hotch’s name. Spencer grabbed the phone and stood and you nodded at him in acknowledgement.
“Hey, Hotch” Spencer said as he stepped out of the room, quietly closing the door behind him.
“Reid, is there any way you could get back to the BAU?” Hotch asked.
“I really don’t feel comfortable leaving my family until the unsub is caught,” Spencer stated, watching you feed Jo another cup of Jell-O through the window.
“Not even if we sent two guards over,” Hotch asked.
“No sorry, I’m not leaving them. Can you fill me in over the phone?” Spencer responded.
“Yes, of course. I’m going to have Garcia call the hospital and fax some documents over to you so you can look them over. I’m setting you up on speaker in the conference room now,” Hotch stated.
“How’s everyone over there?” JJ asked.
“As good as can be expected. Y/N is sitting up now and she says her discomfort is minimal. And Jo seems to be enjoying the vast supply of Jell-O here. Oh also, Y/N and I are engaged,” he added.
“WHAT? Boy Wonder, you can’t keep springing huge news on us like it isn’t a big deal. You’re getting married!” Penelope squealed.
“Yes, I am,” Spencer smiled.
“Dr. and Mrs. Pretty Boy,” Derek grinned.
Everyone else gave their congratulations before getting to work.
“This unsub obviously has a vengeance against specifically Reid because we were all there and they only aimed for Reid’s family, probably because they knew it would inflict the most pain for him,” Emily stated.
“Garcia, search all past cases in which Reid was the primary on the takedown,” Hotch said.
“Sir, he was at the bureau for nearly seven years. There’s still hundreds,” Garcia replied.
“Garcia, filter out anyone who is still in prison. Focus on unsubs that have been recently released or escaped,” Spencer said.
Spencer heard Penelope clicking away at her keyboard through the phone.
“There’s no one you have put away that has escaped or been released in the past six months.”
“An unsub that has this much rage against Reid would have taken action before then,” Derek countered.
“Get a list of everyone I had to kill and focus on their friends and family. Maybe an anniversary is coming up that triggered them” Spencer spoke softly.
“Got it. We’ll update you later. Tell Y/N we all are sending our best,” Hotch said.
“And a muffin basket!” Penelope added.
-
Spencer was curled up on the tiny hospital bed with Jo and Y/N who were both napping when his phone rang.
“Do you remember the L.D.S.K. in Des Plaines, Illinois about 5 years ago?” Hotch asked.
“Yes, Phillip Dowd. He was an E.R. nurse taking shifts at multiple hospitals and wanted to save the people he shot to look good,” Spencer spoke softly.
“This unsub is exhibiting the same M.O. and you were the one who shot him in the hostage
situation. So, I had Garcia look up his relatives. He has a younger brother, Damon, who served in the army as well but was just recently dishonorably discharged after a long mission. That explains why he would target you now.”
“Of course. How did I not see this?” Spencer rubbed his eyes out of frustration.
“Your girlfriend, or should I say fiancée, was just shot. I think you have the right to not be exactly clear-headed right now,” Hotch assured him.
“Is he in custody?” Spencer asked, watching you start to stir next to him.
“Yes but he wants you to take his confession.”
“I’ll be there soon,” Spencer sighed and hung up.
“Who was that?” you whispered.
“They got the guy but I have to take his confession,” Spencer whispered back.
“Why?”
Spencer looked you in the eyes guiltily. He had to tell you that he was responsible for you getting shot. He was the one that the unsub was angry at.
“It’s all my fault,” he whispered, a tear rolling down his cheek, “It’s the brother of an unsub I had to kill five years ago.”
“Love,” you wiped the tear off his cheek with your thumb, “you were not holding the gun pointed at me. This was not your fault. You were only doing what was right during that case,” you spoke softly but in a serious tone, “I need you to say it for me, please.”
“This...was not my fault,” Spencer sniffled.
“Good,” you gave him a kiss, “now go get the bad guy’s confession and then come back to us.”
-
Spencer entered the slightly chilly interrogation room with a file in his hand.
“Dr. Spencer Reid,” Damon smirked.
“Why did you do it?” Spencer asked flatly, taking a seat across from him.
“Try to kill your family at your daughter’s birthday party? Eye for an eye, Doctor,” he replied.
“Why wouldn’t you shoot me though? I’m the one you have a problem with,” Spencer asked, already knowing the answer.
“You’ve been shot before. That’s nothing new. Even if you died, your pain would be relatively minimal compared to watching a loved one bleed out in front of you knowing that you were the cause.”
Spencer’s mind flashed back to earlier when you made him state out loud that he was not responsible for any of this.
“This was your fault, not mine,” Spencer spoke firmly.
“Too bad, I’m not as good of a sniper as Phillip. Next time, I’ll have to practice more,” Damon made a fake gun with his fingers and pointed it up to Spencer’s head, pretending to shoot it.
“And I’ll make sure Mommy isn’t around to stop the bullet….you know what, maybe I’ll actually take two shots next time.”
“You son of a bitch,” Spencer leapt up from the table and tackled Damon to the floor.
Damon wasn’t in handcuffs but was already pinned to the floor before he knew what was happening. Spencer landed a few good punches on him before Hotch and Derek pulled him back.
“Stay away from them,” Spencer seethed.
“Are you going to do something about this rogue agent?” Damon demanded, wiping the blood from his nose.
“Technically, he’s a civilian and I’m only responsible for my team’s behavior so no. And it’s doctor, not agent,” Hotch put Damon back in handcuffs and escorted him out of the room.
A/N: so many people thought the unsub was cat adams but i already planned it to be like the LDSK in the park. i wasn’t originally planning on having cat be in this fic but should i write her in (this fic will still have a happy ending). also, this is a bit of a filler chapter but the next chapter is gonna be really long and i’m so busy this week so it may not be out until this weekend. i will post an update on here when i have a better idea of when it will be out. anyways...did you hear that??? i think it’s wedding bells...

Things that Husband!Harry would definitely do (a thread)
Tumblr media
(If you don’t think that Tiny Desk Harry doesn’t give off mad husband!harry vibes - he looks so fluffy- then we can’t be friends)
- He’d sneak into your room the night before the wedding because he missed you even though he knows its bad luck and when you’re mad at him for it he would just smile and place a kiss on your forehead and say “I don’t need any luck, I just need you”
- At your wedding reception he would walk around the room introducing you to everyone as “my wife” as if they didn’t already know who you were
- During your wedding dinner he’d spend the whole night whispering dirty jokes in your ear trying to make you laugh because he knew that even though it was your wedding day you were still spooked by all of the attention
- On your first year anniversary Harry wanted to surprise you by making you breakfast in bed so he started making pancakes as you slept. You woke up to the sound of your fire alarm going off and Harry blowing the smoke off a pan with a pillow. He’d give you a sheepish smile before mumbling a “maybe we get takeout this year?”
- During the holidays he’d hang mistletoe all around your house and force you to kiss him at every one. “Look love it’s mistletoe, you know what that means” he’d state with a grin. “Harry I just kissed you literally 2 minutes ago in the other room” you’d grumble “Doesn’t matter love, it’s mistletoe and those are the rules. Now come here and kiss your husband”
- Anytime the two of you would get into any sort of major fight where you would say “I hate you” he would shoot back “Well I love you so I guess you’re stuck with me” before going to sulk on the couch
- Whenever you went to his shows or stayed with him on tour he would force you to sit back stage and watch him from the wings so he could watch your reaction to his corny jokes and steal a kiss from you in between sets and on his bathroom breaks
- You agreed to be the designated drive for your group for a night out so Harry gets drunk and becomes extra clingy. He spends the entire night stuck to your side, shoving his face in your neck whispering “I’m going to marry you one day” to which you’d remind him quietly that you were already married. He’d then nod thoughtfully and mumbled “Well then I’m going to marry you again just in case”
- One night you would be tossing and turning in bed unable to sleep and you would accidentally wake up Harry. You’d apologies because you knew he had to wake up early the next day, but he would just shush you with a quick peck before repositioning you so that you could lay your head on his chest. He’d then softly start humming the tune to one of the new songs he was working on until you’d fall asleep
- Harry would convince you that he was capable of building the Ikea coat rack the two of you had bought for your new home on his own so you’d go into the room next door to take a nap. When you woke up and hour later you found him laying on the floor facetiming Mitch as he tried to figure out why the last piece wasn’t fitting properly only for you to look at it and realize he had built half of it backwards
- Harry would come home late from one his movie shoots and would mumble a quick hello as he walked in through the door. You’d be sitting on the couch watching and episode of Dateline and he would throw himself next to you and lay his head on your lap. You’d start running your hands through his hair as you finished watching the last couple of minutes of the episode before asking Harry how his day was only to realize he had passed out on your lap and was now quietly snoring, a small trail of drool slowly coming out of his mouth
- The next season of your favorite show Handmaid’s Tale had come out so you and Harry started watching it. Every five minutes Harry would ask you a question about the show until mid way through you looked at him and bursted out “Harry if you ask me one more question about the show I’m sending you to our room”. Harry would pout at you and sink into the couch, grumbling about how it wasn’t his fault he couldn’t remember what happened last season before he shoved some popcorn into his mouth
- You’d need to go shopping at Target one day to get some decorations for your niece's birthday party and Harry would decide to come along. “This is our list Harry, we’re not buying anything that’s not on the list” you’d say in the car before getting out, but it would be hopeless because every other aisle Harry would pick something up and say “babe we need to get this” and you would stare at him and say “is it on the list?” and he would grumble a no before sulking back down the aisle to put it back
- On road trips when he let you pick the music he would grumble when you would change the song every 30 seconds. “Love just choose a song, it’s not that difficult, gave you the bloody playlist” he’d state as you would continue to skip through the songs mumbling “I’m tired of that song though, just wanted to hear the chorus”. “Is that what you do with my songs too, just skip all the good parts to get to the bloody chorus?” he’d ask mockingly as you gave him a sheepish smile and mumbled a “sometimes” before finally picking a song
- It would be nearly 4 am and you would still be awake reading your book in bed as Harry slept soundly next to you. You could feel the tears running down your face as the main character just had their heartbroken and a soft sniffle left your nose which caused Harry to startle awake. “Babe what time is it?” he’d mumble as you continue reading, paying him no mind. He’d turn on his phone and groan as he saw the 4 flash at him before turning to see the tears on your face. “Oh no love did she get her heartbroken again? Sure they’ll get back together by the end” he’d state, knowing this was your third rom-com book of the month. You’d mumble a yes as Harry gently dog eared the page before you could protest. He turned off your lamp before tucking you into his side, pulling the covers up to your chin, letting you crying into his chest over your fictional characters
- You and Harry going to your 15th high school reunion together and he gets jealous when he sees you talking to your ex-boyfriend from when you were 16. He’d come up behind you and wrap an arm around your waist while placing a kiss to the side of your temple before reaching out his free hand to introduce himself. “Hello I’m Harry. The Husband” he’d say as he shook your ex’s hand just a little tighter then necessary
- Harry would be overly invested in your work place gossip so when the two of you would have dinner together he would constantly ask questions about what happened with your coworkers that day. “So did Stacy and Justin get caught yet or does Janet still have no idea? Did Kathleen ever get that promotion? If I ever see Garrett I’m going to punch him”
-  He’d force you to wake up early with him so the two of you could workout together in your home gym, but you’d just sit on the floor against the mirror in your workout clothes staring at him. After several attempts at trying to get you to stretch with him he’d give up and say “If you’re not gonna workout at least give me some motivation babe” so he’d do his abs workout in front of you and every time he came up from a sit-up you’d give him a kiss
- Harry would come down with a cold and he would turn into a 5 year old boy and try to milk it for everything it’s worth. “Think the doctor mentioned that cuddles would really help with my headache, love.” “Harry I don’t think that’s what the doctor said” you’d reply as you placed a cold wash cloth on his forehead. “Don’t think I would have forgotten such an important order from her. Now, come here I want to cuddle my wife”
- He’d come home from the studio fidgeting with his beat-up blue iPod in his hand as you were finishing up a quick dinner for the two of you. He would gently place the iPod on the counter next to you as he poured himself a drink to calm his nerves. You’d stare at it for a minute before asking “Is it finished? Can I listen?”. He’d nod before you gave him a quick kiss and took the device to the living room, leaving him there with his thoughts. An hour later you came back into the kitchen, tears streaming down your face as you ran up to hug him. “Liked it?” he’d ask nervously, this being the first time you’d heard the finished album. “Absolutely loved it” you’d whisper back causing Harry to release a deep breath before taking your face in his hands and kissing you roughly
- He’d start every award acceptance speech with “I’d like to first thank my wife for always supporting me” and then try to catch your eye in the crowd, giving you a soft smile that was only meant for you before going on to thank everyone else
- “We need an intervention Harry. Why are your suits in my side of the closet?” you asked as you came down stairs with one of Harry’s Gucci suits. “I was running out of space and I didn’t think you would notice” he replied with a blush. “Well I did so either you move them or I’m throwing them out” “Love but they’re Gucci you can’t just-” “Ah ah ah I don’t care. My side of the closet” you’d state before dropping the suit in his lap and walking back upstairs
So many others come to mind but these are just a couple that came to mind. I’ll probably do a Dad!Harry version at some point as well

Seasons of PD: Season 5: PTSD (A Halstead brothers + Halstead! sister imagine)
As always, I don't own any quotes from 5x01 of Chicago PD!
Your age: 16
Jay's age: 30
Will's age: 32
"I just talked to Ballistics. The bullet that hit the little girl was a nine-millimeter."
"I thought the bangers were firing 45s."
"They were."
"You're saying I shot that little girl?"
That. That was the conversation that was replaying in Jay's head as he sat on the couch of his apartment that afternoon. How could he call himself a cop, a good cop, if it was him who shot that girl? He should've known that there an illegal daycare center there, even though no one could've known, he still should've figured it out somehow. But, he was taking heavy fire and he did what he needed to do. But, that didn't make him feel any better. A little girl was in critical condition and fighting for her life at Chicago Med because of him. It was all his fault.
***
Your mind wandered back to the day earlier in the year when it was your sixteenth birthday...and you had gotten the iPhone that was currently blowing up with Twitter notifications all about Jay.
You had gone for breakfast with your dad because he had completed the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and was doing a lot better. He also had visitation rights after he completed the 12 Steps, so he had the right to see you. Since you were 16, you could refuse, but you didn't want your dad to feel bad. And, from what you had heard from Will who had been going to see how he was doing to see if it was safe for you to see him, he was doing really well.
During breakfast, he had given you a gift. You opened it and immediately recognized the bracelet.
"Is this Mom's?" you asked. "I thought you said you couldn't find it when I asked for it when I was like ten."
"I've kept it all these years, I was just waiting for the right time to make sure you'd be able to take care of it and not lose it."
You remembered playing with the charm bracelet when you were little when it dangled off your mom's wrist. There were a bunch of different charms from places she had gone, such as Mount Rushmore, Washington DC, a record charm that she had bought in Hollywood, and for other special occasions, such as a steering wheel charm she got from her parents when she got her driver's license, a graduation cap she got for graduation which she also got from her parents, a wedding dress charm which symbolized the day she married your dad, among other charms.
"Thank you," you replied as you held back tears.
He'd changed, he'd recovered, but there's still no way you'd go back to live with him.
***
"How was breakfast with Dad?" Jay asked as you walked into the apartment after you had breakfast.
"Good. He's doing really good, Jay." You walked up to him and opened the small gift box you were holding. "He gave me this." You held the box out to him and he smiled.
"Mom's charm bracelet?" You nodded. "Want me to put it on you?"
"Please."
Jay's breath hitched as he took the bracelet out of the box. It was like he was holding a little piece of his mom, and this piece of your mom would forever be with you the moment he fastened the clasp.
"It's perfect," you said as you fiddled with a few charms.
You both sat in silence for a few moments, just thinking about the fact that this was your mom's and it was now yours.
"Ready to go get your license?" Jay asked, breaking the silence.
"Is that even a question? Yes!"
You had taken your driver's test a week ago after completing the long process of going through two segments of driver's training classes, taking a written test, securing your learner's permit, and accumulating 50 or more hours of driving practice with either Jay or Will.
Jay chuckled at your excitement. "You good with how you look? You'll have the same license photo until you're 21, you know?"
"Let me go put on some lipstick!"
"Not that super dark reddish-purple one!"
"Yes, that super dark reddish-purple one! It's my favorite and it looks good on me!" you yelled as you ran to your room.
Once you had applied your lipstick, you and Jay made your way to the Secretary of State with all the necessary documents for you to get your license.
***
"Why's my license vertical and not horizontal like yours?" you asked after you exited the building with your brand new license.
"You get a horizontal one when you're 21. Just makes it easier for us cops to identify if you're underage if we ask for your license. And for bartenders to know you're underage if you try to buy alcohol."
"Oh, okay."
"You wanna drive?" Jay asked you.
"Sure. It's no different than me having my permit, though because you'll be in the car," you pointed out.
"So, you don't want to drive."
"No, I do!"
"That's what I thought."
He handed you the keys and you unlocked his truck. You both got in and you started adjusting the seat and the rearview mirror.
"Don't forget to--"
"Adjust the side mirrors. I know, Jay, I know. We've been through this a ton. Trust me."
"You're essentially driving a missile down the road, excuse me if I get nervous."
You rolled your eyes and started to drive, but when you were supposed to turn right, he told you to go left.
"Where are we going?" you asked.
"The district," he answered.
"Why?"
"You'll see. Just drive. I'll give you directions because we both know you're bad with those."
"Shut up!"
"What? We both know it's true!"
When you got there, Jay told you to park in front of what he called the "roll-up". To say you were confused would be an understatement; you didn't even know what this was!
"It's where we load our weapons and drive out sometimes. It's the basement," Jay explained.
"Where the cage is?"
"How do you know about that?"
"Adam told me about it. And then when you and  Erin were on  a lunch run for everyone, he showed it to me."
"I'm gonna have to talk to him about that."
Once you finished parking, you turned off the car and handed the keys back to Jay. Then, Jay did this weird, complicated knock on the garage door of the roll-up.
"Surprise!"
You were met with Will standing there. Behind him, was a car, with a bow on top.
"Is this mine?" you asked.
"Yup," Will confirmed. "Dude," he said to Jay, "You're lucky Goodwin let me out early."
"2010 Buick," Jay said as you walked over to examine the car more. "Seized it from a mob boss two weeks ago. It was going to be impounded, but Kev's got a really good car guy, so I didn't have to pay a lot for it."
"Wait," you started, "So this is just from you, Jay?"
"My gift is in your driver's seat," Will said and then he tossed you the keys. Somehow you caught them...you weren't the best when it came to hand-eye coordination.
You unlocked it using the fob and opened the driver's side door. There, on the driver's seat, was a box. And, not just any box: an Apple box.
"Is this...?"
"Open it." Will smiled.
So you did and you squealed so loud that Jay covered his ears. "Damn, high-pitched screams...sometimes worse than the sound of gunshots."
"Sorry! I'm just so excited! I can't believe I got a car and iPhone! You guys are the best! I love you guys so much!"
"We figured it'd save me a ton of time in the morning not to have to drive you to school and, if I get called into a case early or stay at work late, then I wouldn't have to find someone to drop you off or pick you up. And, figured I could always track your phone if necessary," Jay answered.
"I knew there was a catch," you answered.
"Always is," Will joked.
"Are there traps still in the car?" you asked, causing Jay's eyes to go wide.
"How do you know about those?"
"I watch crime shows."
"No," he answered. "Made sure that was one of the very first things Kev's car guy did: remove the traps."
"Aw, man! I was gonna have fun with those!"
"And put what in them?" Will asked. "Candy? Those fancy pens you like?"
"One, there's two different kinds I like: Papermate pens and calligraphy pens. And two, a little bit of this, a little bit of that."
"Care to specific on what those might be?" Jay asked.
"Not really."
"May I remind you that I am a cop and can toss your bedroom like--" He snapped his fingers. "--that."
"Don't you need a warrant for that?"
"It's my house, so I can do what I want. And, I hope I don't need to bring charges against you for whatever you're hiding."
You burst out laughing. "You guys, I'm kidding. I just wanted to see Jay's reaction when I mentioned traps! I wouldn't do anything...especially with Jay as my brother. I'm not that stupid."
"Oh thank God," Jay sighed.
"Can we go? A little birdie let it slip that there's a surprise party for me at the apartment."
Will glared at Jay. "What?" Jay asked as he put his hands up in a sign of surrender. "I promise you I did not say a single word about it."
"Mhm." Will rolled his eyes.
"Y/N, would this little birdie be Ruzek?" Jay asked.
"I am never telling him anything remotely secretive again."
But now, you kinda wished you didn't have that phone. Because, all over Twitter, there were people who didn't even know your brother who was saying that he was a racist cop and a child killer.
***
You walked inside to see a very distraught Jay. he was sitting on the couch with his head in his hands. And, even though you could only see one side of his face from where you were standing, you could see the dried tear tracks on his cheeks.
"So, it's true?" you asked. Jay jumped and looked at you. "Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you."
"H-How do you know what happened?"
You sat down next to him. "Twitter. My mentions were blowing up."
"Y/N, you gotta believe me. I wouldn't intentionally shoot a little girl--"
"Jay, I believe you."
"At least she's at Med. Will said she's got a good chance of making it."
"Oh, you didn't hear." He furrowed his eyebrows. "She passed away. I got a notification about it like an hour ago. I'm so sorry, Jay."
"Fuck," was all he said as he buried his head in his hands and began sobbing.
You wanted to comfort him, you really did, but you had no idea what to say. You knew Jay was a good cop and, whatever happened, you knew that he wouldn't purposely kill an innocent little girl. So, you just put a hand on his shoulder as he continued to sob, reminding him that you were still there.
"I'm gonna go talk to Will," he said as he stood up a few minutes later.
He walked over to the kitchen sink and splashed his face with water and dried it with some paper towels while you walked over to him.
"I'll drive you," you told him. "You're not in any shape to be driving right now. I know you'd tell me the same thing."
"No, Y/N, I can drive myself."
"This isn't up for discussion, Jay."
"Yes, it is. My picture's all over the internet. If someone decides to come after me, I don't want you near me out in public. I need you to be safe. Just stay here. Please." His voice cracked on the last word.
"Fine."
"Thank you."
"But please try your best to get home in one piece."
Jay nodded and grabbed his jacket. "I'll be back soon."
But, what he was thinking was totally different. After what I did, I don't deserve to come home in one piece.
***
Jay stormed into the ED just as Will was leaving a treatment room and Will caught sight of Jay and walked towards him.
"You said she was gonna make it!" Jay practically yelled.
"Hey," Will said, quieter, trying to use his trying-to-calm-down-a-patient-voice to hopefully make Jay calm down.
"You said she was gonna..." Jay took a deep breath, trying to keep the tears at bay.
"Hey, I said she had a chance, okay? She was in bad shape. Lost too much blood."
"I know."
"There's only so much we can do."
"I know. I'm sorry. I just...the bullet came from my gun. Even though I was aiming at an offender, it went through his abdomen and through a fucking door and into her, Will. Even though it was an accident, I still shot her. I killed an eight-year-old little girl. I killed her."
***
"50-21 George!" Jay yelled into his radio. "I'm taking heavy fire! I got two civilians down in the north alley behind the building."
"This is Sergeant Hank Voight. Advise responding units to shut down a two-block radius."
"Help! Help!"
Jay turned his attention to the building and when he saw it was clear, he pushed open the wooden door and entered.
He nearly choked when he saw what happened.
It was you. You were eight years old, clutching Beary in one hand while Hailey held you and tried to stop the bleeding.
"Y/N!" He had no idea why you were even here, maybe your parents couldn't afford a good, legal daycare center because of your mom's medical bills, but whatever it was, you were here, and you had somehow been shot. He kneeled down next to you and all but threw his sniper on the ground.
"Alright, I'm gonna call an ambulance," Hailey said.
"We don't have time." Somehow, he was aware of where his keys were in his tactical gear. "Go get my car. Fast."
He handed over the keys. "Ready?" Hailey asked as Jay positioned his hands above hers to try and stop the bleeding the minute she removed her hands.
Jay nodded and quickly replaced Hailey's hands with his as she sprinted off to get his truck.
But, then the scene changed.
It became hotter. Jay could feel the dry heat in his mouth and in his throat. He felt the sweat trickle down his face and back. He felt beads of sand on his hands and arms. He looked down to see you resting your head against his leg. And, he wasn't in his normal clothes that he'd wear to work. No, he was in his Rangers uniform.
He had his hands over the same spot on your chest as he had in the daycare center. And, you still had Beary in your hand, albeit a very loose grip on him.
You coughed, causing some blood to come out of your mouth.
"No, Y/N, not like this. Not like this." He removed one hand from the wound and applied all the pressure he could with one hand while he reached for his radio. "This is Halstead to Base." Crackles. "This is Halstead to Base." More crackles. "Please. This is Halstead to Base. I need a med truck now! My sister's been shot." No response. "Please. She's only-- She's only eight years old." His voice cracked. "Please."
You coughed once more and Jay knew trying to reach Base was useless at this point. Jay took his canteen and dabbed a little bit of water on your face and smeared it around, trying to clean the blood off your face. But, as fast as he could clean it, more would come up and out of your mouth.
You let out a strangled breath. Jay knew that sound. That was the sound of someone's last gasp of air that they'd ever take.
"Y/N, please. Please, Short Stack. Stay with me. Help will come. Please, just hang on a little longer."
Then, he saw the all too familiar look of empty eyes in front of him. He let out a strangled sob as he placed his fingers on your eyelids and gently pulled them closed.
Jay shot up in bed with a start. He reached for his chest, feeling for his radio to try and call for help again. It was only when his fingers brushed his bare chest that he realized that he wasn't in the desert of Afghanistan, but in the safety of his own bed, in his own apartment, here stateside, here in Chicago.
He went into the bathroom after his breathing calmed down and jumped into a freezing cold shower, hoping to get the image of an eight-year-old you being shot and killed by his gun out of his head.
But it wouldn't leave.
Jay dried off and then quietly made his way out of his room and over to yours.
He crouched down by your bed and watched as your chest rose and fell, signaling that you were in a deep sleep. You were sleeping on your side and had one leg thrown over the other and a few toes sticking out from under the covers. Beary was next to you. You weren't clutching him like in his nightmare, hell you weren't even holding him, but he was still in your bed. Jay was pretty sure that if that bear wasn't in your bed at night, you wouldn't be able to sleep, despite you being sixteen.
Jay longed to put two fingers to your neck just to check your pulse and make sure he wasn't hallucinating the rising and falling of your chest. But, he knew that was paranoid. He could trust his instincts now. After all, he was awake. There was no stifling heat, no hot sweat (at least, after his shower there wasn't), and no sand. All that was below him was the fluffy rug on your bedroom floor.
He slowly left your room and went back to his. But, instead of getting into bed, he tugged his comforter off his bed and grabbed his pillow. Then, he dragged those two things back into your room and settled down on your rug.
He knew it was probably paranoia, but after that dream, he wanted to make sure you were safe. He wanted to be close to you. Because, God, that dream felt so real.
She's alive, he kept reminding himself as he tried to fall asleep. And, that was the last thing on his mind when he finally fell asleep once more: that you were still alive.
***
Your alarm blared through your quiet room and you rolled over with a groan and turned it off.
"Christ, that was loud. How deep of a sleeper are you?" Jay asked as he rolled over.
You looked at him with sleep still in your eyes. "What are you doing in here?"
"Was a rough night." He yawned. "Just wanted to make sure you were okay."
"Okay...?"
"I say ten more minutes."
"Jay, I'll be late."
"I'll drive you, lights and sirens and all."
"Night."
***
"You okay?" you asked around 11:00 pm two weeks later when Jay finally got home from working a case.
"Yeah, just tired," he answered as he went to put his badge and gun away in his room.
"Are you sure it's just that?" you asked when he came out from his room in pajamas.
"I'm sure. Why are you asking?"
"You had that street fair bombing case and two weeks ago, a bullet from your gun--"
"Y/N, I'm fine. I promise. don't you have to get to bed?"
"Tomorrow's Saturday. I don't have school tomorrow."
"So it is. I'm gonna turn in. See you in the morning."
"Aren't you gonna eat something?" you asked.
"I'm not really that hungry. Goodnight."
You knew something was off, but you weren't going to push it, so you just grabbed the remote and started looking for a movie to watch.
***
You coughed, causing some blood to come out of your mouth.
"No, Y/N, not like this. Not like this." He removed one hand from the wound and applied all the pressure he could with one hand while he reached for his radio. "This is Halstead to Base." Crackles. "This is Halstead to Base." More crackles. "Please. This is Halstead to Base. I need a med truck now! My sister's been shot." No response. "Please. She's only-- She's only eight years old." Then, he saw the all too familiar look of empty eyes in front of him. He let out a strangled sob as he placed his fingers on your eyelids and gently pulled them closed.
He saw a figure moving towards him and in his hand, a grenade.
"Would you like to join her?"
Jay jolted awake, breathing raggedly. He tried to catch his breath and swallow, but it was no use, the familiar feeling of bile was rising in his throat and he dry heaved all the way to the bathroom before he finally emptied what little was in his stomach into the toilet.
Meanwhile, you furrowed your eyebrows as you slowly opened your eyes. You thought you had heard gagging, but it was gone now, so you tried to close your eyes and go back to sleep. But, then you heard gagging and the sound of something hitting what sounded like water.
Wait, was Jay sick? He never got sick.
You got out of bed and walked over to his room and quietly opened his door. From the dim light of the bathroom, and the disheveled covers on his bed, you knew he was in the bathroom.
"Jay?" you asked as you crept towards his bathroom.
"Y/N, l-leave. Please, just leave me alone ri-right now." You could tell from the sound of his voice that he was panting as if he had just run a marathon.
"Are you okay?"
No. "I'm fine. Just a stomach bug or food poisoning. Go back to bed."
You poked your head into the bathroom. Jay was leaning against the bathtub without a shirt on, with sweat dripping down his face. His mouth was wide open as if he was trying to capture as much oxygen as was humanly possible.
"Maybe I should call Will. I don't think he's on shift."
"Y/N, I'm fine."
"You don't look fine. You don't look fine at all."
"Y/N, go back to bed. Now."
"But--"
"I said go to bed! So how about you listen for once and just fucking do that? Jesus!"
Your breath caught in your throat. You'd never heard him yell like that...not directed at you at least.
"O-Okay."
You trudged back to your room and laid down. But, sleep didn't come for a while as tears rolled down your cheeks.
Jay put his head in his hands. He had yelled at you. Not only that, but he had sworn at you and you were just trying to help. God, he felt like a terrible brother, a terrible guardian, an overall terrible human being.
He tugged at the roots of his hair, hoping the bit of tugging from that physical pain would calm the mental and emotional pain that had been stirring inside of him for weeks. For weeks he's been like this. Ever since he had been put on his medication, he hadn't even had a nightmare and now he's had them every single day, and he's scared to sleep. What kind of police detective and ex-army ranger is afraid to sleep when they're safe in their own house? He was one of them and, God, he hated himself for it.
Not getting more than three restless hours of sleep per night was starting to have an impact on him at work. They all knew that a sleepy cop was a dead cop, but Jay was still alive. But, there were downfalls, such as getting jittery from all the caffeine he was ingesting early in the morning and then crashing and almost falling asleep doing reports when he had to work late. Well, he didn't have to work late per se, he decided to work late to put off sleeping. He knew none of this was helpful and none of this would solve the problem, but he thought it would be fine. Everything would be fine and the nightmares would eventually go away. They always do. And then everything would be normal again in his brain.
God, he longed for that: the normalcy.
So, for the umpteenth night in a row, he grabbed a pillow and a blanket and made his way to your bedroom to sleep on the floor to make sure you were alive. He put his watch on vibrate and set the alarm for 6 am because he knew you wouldn't be awake that early...especially not on the weekend.
Only when the irrational part of his brain was sure that you weren't going to die, did he finally find solace in sleep.

Went to get coffee with Will and to work on homework. Be home eventually, you scribbled on a sticky note and stuck it on the back of the apartment door before you left. Jay had gotten called in to work a case earlier this morning, and you needed a change of scenery to work on some AP World History homework.
You grabbed your backpack, keys, and wallet, and made your way to the parking garage. Then, you left.
About ten minutes later, you arrived at the coffee shop. Not seeing Will, you set your stuff down and went to grab a coffee and a muffin. Don't get it wrong, Jay still didn't like the fact that you drank coffee, but you only drank it when you went out to get it. It wasn't like you drank it every morning or drank two or three cups a day like he did.
You started to read your textbook and take some notes on the vocab. You were so focused that you jumped when Will slid into the chair across from you and said your name.
"Sorry," he apologized. "Lots to do?"
"Not a ton," you replied. "Just gotta read a chapter and take some notes. Then I'm done with homework for the weekend."
"So, you said you think something's up with Jay?" Will asked.
You had texted him that morning to see if you could meet up because you were worried. You had seen how tired he looked and how he poured his coffee into a larger tumbler than normal, one that was almost double the size of his normal one. Bags under his eyes and more coffee than normal had given you the impression that Jay was no longer sleeping, and rightfully so.
"I don't think he's sleeping," you told him.
"And you know this how?" Will asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Because he looks like shit- sorry, he looks like crap, and he drinks a ton more coffee in the morning than he normally does."
"Maybe he just doesn't like the coffee at the district and is bringing more from home," he suggested.
"I don't think so."
"Is he still working out? Still going to the gym?"
"I think so. I'm usually still asleep when he goes, so I wouldn't know either way."
"Anything else?"
"Uh, actually, yeah." You closed your textbook. "I'm pretty sure he was sick last night."
"Sick? Like how sick?"
"He was puking. I wanted to call you but he told me no."
"How'd you find him?"
"Leaning against the bathtub, no shirt, dripping sweat, and mouth wide open."
"I see," Will said. "Anything else?"
"Yeah. Last night when I mentioned calling you, he said he was fine. But, when I pushed, he told me to leave and when I told him no, he yelled and cursed at me."
"He swore at you?" Will grit his teeth.
"Yeah," you whispered. "I don't know what's going on, Will. He hasn't been himself lately."
"Hey, I'll figure it out, okay? I'll make sure he's okay. I can even come over later tonight and check him out if you want me to."
"He'll fight you on that."
"I'm used to unruly patients. Is that what you--" His phone rang and he held up a finger to you to wait for a second while he answered. "Hey, Maggie. What's up?" He paused and then sighed. "I'll be right there." He hung up the phone and started gathering his stuff.
"What? Did something happen and you have to go to work?" you asked.
"Oh, something happened all right. I just got a call saying Jay was brought into Med."
You started to pack up your backpack and grabbed your keys. "I'll follow you there."
***
Jay didn't know what happened. One second he was driving, blinking heavily, the next Hailey was yelling at him and had reached over to grab the wheel, but it was too late. He was too close. When he opened his eyes, he tried to slam on the brake, but it didn't help. The next millisecond, he and Hailey crashed into an electrical pole in Pilsen.
He was awake after that.
"What the hell happened?" Voight asked after he had thrown his car in park and he and Al rushed over to Jay and Hailey.
"I think he fell asleep at the wheel," Hailey answered as she and Jay both stepped out of the truck.
"I did not," Jay protested.
"Oh yeah? Then how do you explain you just running into an electrical pole when there weren't even cars running us off the road?" Hailey yelled.
"I didn't fall asleep! I'm fully awake! Just drop it, Upton."
"Drop it? You do know if we would've hit that at full speed and it fell on us that we could've been electrocuted to death, right?"
"But that didn't happen--"
"Halstead, Upton, I'm bringing both of you to Med to get checked out. After that, you're going home to get some rest, Halstead. You look like hell," Voight told them.
"Sarge--"
"This isn't up for discussion. Get in the damn car." The two detectives walked to Voight's car, while Voight turned to Alvin. "Call Platt to get us some patrolmen to help. You good waiting here for them to pick you up while I bring them to Med?"
"Yeah, go. I'll handle this."
When Jay finally got to Med, to say he was not happy would be an understatement. He didn't need to be in the hospital and he sure as hell didn't need to be kicked off the case and told to go home to get some rest.
"Mags, what room is he in?"
Shit, they had called Will.
"Treatment Four."
Will walked into the room followed by you.
"You didn't have to come, neither of you did."
"Well, too bad," Will said. "Should've put her as your emergency contact instead of me. Oh wait, you can't, she's still too young. Guess you're stuck with me."
"All set," Hailey said as she walked in. "You ready to go?"
"Who's this?" you asked.
"My new partner," Jay told you. "Hailey, this is Y/N and Will, my siblings I told you about. Y/N and Will, my new partner, Hailey Upton."
"Nice to meet you. I've heard good things."
Will scoffed. "Would one of those good things be that Jay absolutely hates hospitals and I always have to make sure he doesn't leave against medical advice?"
"He didn't mention that, no."
"Well, either way, nice to meet Jay's new partner. Do you mind if I talk to him? Privately?"
"No problem."
Will turned to you. "You too, Y/N. Go grab some food or hang out with Hailey or something."
Will focused his attention on Jay when you and Hailey had left the treatment room. "Y/N told me she doesn't think you're sleeping and from what I heard from Maggie about why you were brought in here, don't even bother lying to me."
"I'm fine, Will, really. Nothing to worry about."
"Fine then. I'm gonna go order a blood test."
"Blood test? You're not even on shift! And, you can't even be my doctor if you were!" Jay protested.
"I read that April's your nurse, so I'm going to go find her and tell her to order a blood test then."
"Why?"
"To see if your plasma cortisol levels are elevated and if your cortisol testosterone levels have decreased," Will answer matter-of-factly.
"And you need those because...?"
"If the plasma cortisol level is elevated and the cortisol testosterone level is lowered, then those are both indicators that you haven't been sleeping. Be back, little brother."
Jay groaned and threw his head back. He didn't think he'd need to be stuck with a needle today. If only had put someone else down as his emergency contact, then this wouldn't be happening. Or, if his brother just wasn't a doctor or didn't work at this specific hospital then this wouldn't be happening, either.

Jay was walking you to school when you were eight years old. On your back, you had your backpack and you were holding Jay's hand and skipping to keep up with his long strides. Jay chuckled at how cute and innocent you were. He didn't want you to ever grow up.
"Jay Jay," you started, causing him to look down at you, "Did you get all the bad guys when you left?"
"Why do you ask?" He swallowed. He knew if you asked the right questions, he might not know how to answer them. And, his last tour was horrific, losing all the members of his unit except Mouse...the burning Humvee...the combatants still coming towards them...
"I don't know. I just wanted to know if there were any left?" you asked.
"There probably are."
"Do you have to go back there? Do you have to leave again to go fight the bad guys?"
Jay's breath hitched. He was honorably discharged after what had happened, so he wouldn't have to back. But, as he was thinking about how to answer you, the scene changed.
Screaming. All he could hear was screaming and the crackling of flames.
He looked around saw the scene from his last tour, his Humvee flipped over with all the members of his unit currently burning to crisp. He and Mouse had been walking behind, keeping watch of their six which is why they weren't in there.
"Help! Jay Jay, help!" He heard you scream and racked his brain from where that could be coming from because you were an ocean away, no way were you actually there.
"Dude, your sister's in there!" And Mouse took off running.
Jay quickly caught up to him. "What? She's not here! She's at home in Chicago!"
"No, she's not! You couldn't bear to leave her, so you brought her with you!"
Okay, now Jay knew he was caught in the midst of a nightmare because he would never do that. He would never bring a little girl into the midst of a war where she could get hurt or killed. Damn that melatonin he took that night because he was currently in so deep a sleep that he couldn't wake up.
"Jay Jay!"
He took off running again and came up to the edge of the Humvee. Your leg was crushed under it and it was one of the only parts of the vehicle that hadn't caught fire...yet. He needed to get you out and he needed to get you out fast or else you would be burned to death. But, to do that, he knew he'd be sacrificing your leg.
"Mouse! Get me a tourniquet and the biggest knife you have! Make sure you sterilize it!" Jay shouted. You let out a whine.
"You're doing a field amputation?" Mouse asked as he grabbed the supplies.
"I don't have any other choice." You let out a whimper. "Hey, hey, look at me. Focus on me. I'm gonna get you out of there."
"P-Promise?" you asked as tears ran down your cheeks.
"I promise. Now I need you to hold really still and be a brave girl, okay? Can you be brave for me?" You nodded as Mouse handed Jay the equipment for the tourniquet. "This is going to hurt," Jay warned you as he slid the piece of fabric underneath your leg and then started tying it.
You screamed out in agony.
"I know, I know. But, It's gotta be tight. It's gotta be tight, kiddo."
"Jay! Nine o'clock!"
Jay turned to his left and pointed his gun straight at the combatant.
"Jay...Jay..." he heard your voice wavering as you tried to get his attention. But, it didn't sound like your voice. It sounded lower, more mature even. "Jay, please." the voice that sounded like you was pleading now. "Jay Jay, please. You're- You're safe."
Jay snapped his eyes open.
There you were, at sixteen years old, holding your hands up in surrender. He was home, in Chicago.
"Jay, please," you whispered once more.
It was only when he looked down that he realized he must've thought you were the combatant in his dream because he had his service weapon pointed straight at you.
He dropped his gun onto his bed. "Y/N, I- you gotta believe me. That wasn't--"
But you were already running out of his room to grab your keys and get as far away from Jay as possible.

Will was awoken to a loud knocking on his door at 2:37 in the morning. "Who the fuck is here right now?" he muttered as he rubbed his eyes and stood up and threw on a shirt.
But, all his anger at being woken up at this ungodly hour washed away as he looked through the peep-hole and saw you, tears still streaming down your face.
He yanked the door open. "Y/N, what are you doing here?"
"He pointed a gun at me!" you wailed as you entered.
Will shut the door and made his way over to you. "Who? Did you tell Jay? Where were you?"
"Jay was the one who did it, Will! He pointed the- the gun right at me!"
Will's breath caught in his throat. He had his hunches that Jay was having nightmares again based on what you had told him and based on him falling asleep while driving and based on his blood work, but he didn't think they'd have gotten this bad. "Are you okay? he asked you quietly.
You shook your head and Will led you over to the couch.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
You sighed. "I heard him scream, so I woke up to see what was wrong. When I walked- When I walked into his room he was squeezing his pillow with his hand like he was holding something. He was dripping sweat."
You paused and took a deep breath.
"It's okay," Will told you. Take your time."
"Then, he just, he just whipped around and grabbed his gun from- from on top of his nightstand. I don't why it wasn't in the safe where it usually is. And that's when he..."
"That's when he pointed it at you?"
You nodded as tears rolled down your cheeks. "I said his name over and over and he finally snapped out of it."
"And that's when you came here?"
You nodded again.
"Well, how about we put on a movie, and then you can try to get some sleep. I'll stop over at Jay's tomorrow when you're at school. I'm pretty sure you have some clothes here just in case."
"Thanks, Will."
"No problem, Short Stack."
***
Jay heard a knock on his door the next day. Will had texted him and told him that you were safe and at his place because Jay had been blowing up Will's phone looking for you. So, at least he wasn't worried about that anymore.
Jay sipped his beer and waited for the knocking to stop, but it just became increasingly louder.
"Jay, open the damn door!"
Reluctantly, with beer still in hand, Jay stood up and opened his apartment door. "What the hell are you doing here?" Jay asked.
"Gimme that," Will said as he ripped the beer bottle from Jay's hand after he'd entered his apartment. "And, for your information, I'm making sure you're not drinking yourself to death." He looked around at the two other empty beer bottles on the counter. It wasn't even one o'clock in the afternoon yet. "Which, I guess I came just in time."
"Just let me drink it." Jay tried to take the bottle back, but Will held it out of his reach. Then, he made his way over to the kitchen sink and poured it out.
"Shit, man. I paid for that."
"I don't really give a damn right now, Jay. You pointed a fucking gun at our little sister. She came to my place bawling last night. You're lucky she didn't get into a car accident because of how distraught she was when she was driving."
"I know, I know. I fucked up, okay?"
"Oh, yeah, you fucked up all right. This is probably the single-handed worse thing you've done in your entire life."
"Did you just come here to lecture me?" Jay yelled. "If so, the door's that way and you can get the hell out!"
Will sighed. "I didn't come here just to do that, but I needed to get that out first. You need to talk to someone about this, Jay."
"I'm talking to you. Isn't that enough?"
"A trained professional."
"You are a trained professional."
"I'm a trained medical professional, not a trained psychological professional."
Jay sat on the couch and put his head in his hands. That scene from last night had been replaying in his head for almost twelve hours now.
Him hearing your voice...seeing you with your hands raised while they were shaking...how much of whisper your voice was...the feeling of guilt that swallowed him whole when he noticed he was holding his service weapon...you sprinting out of the house in the middle of the night...
"Jay," Will said, snapping him out of his thoughts. "You still with me?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm still here. Sorry." He paused. "Last night, I guess I was so out of it that I forgot to lock up my gun and left it on my bedside table. If I had just locked it up, this wouldn't have happened. If I just wouldn't have taken the melatonin, this wouldn't have happened. If I was just able to fucking sleep this wouldn't have happened."
"How long haven't you been sleeping?" Will asked gently.
"The nightmares started when I shot that little girl, Will."
"Jay, it's been weeks since that happened."
"I know. And they just keep getting worse. At first, it was Y/N who was the little girl I shot when I was chasing the offenders when the bullet went through the illegal daycare center. And then, they started turning into me being overseas and Y/N somehow being with me and her being shot over there. Last night- last night was the worst."
"You don't have to tell me what happened if you don't want to."
"Thank you," Jay replied. Because in all honestly, that was one of the worst nightmares he's ever had since getting on his medication.
"Is that why you're sleeping on Y/N's bedroom floor?"
"How'd you know? I didn't even think she knew."
"She knows. She said she'll wake up in the middle of the night and you'll be there, on her floor, with a pillow and a blanket, and you'll sneak out before she wakes up."
"I just, I needed to make sure she was safe. I needed to make sure she was still alive, Will."
"I really think you need to talk to someone. Maybe ask about getting your meds increased."
"I've been on the same dose for over two years now. You really think they'd need to be upped?"
"It's a possibility. But, we need to talk about Y/N now."
Jay sighed. "Yeah. Yeah, we do. I have no idea what to do, Will. I'm supposed to be her legal guardian and I couldn't even keep her safe. I was the one who made her feel not safe."
"I know it's gonna be hard for you to hear this," Will started, "but, she doesn't want to come back here for a little while."
"Yeah, I figured that when she didn't answer my texts."
"Listen, she and I talked this morning, and if you go see someone today or tomorrow and see someone about getting your meds upped, she'd stay with me for two weeks so the meds have time to get into your system, and then we'll go from there."
"So, all I have to do is get my meds upped?"
"Well, that might be the best option. But, I still think you should talk to someone, Jay. Either a therapist or a psychiatrist or even a veteran's support group might be helpful."
"Okay. But, can you just tell her that I'm so sorry? And that, I wasn't in my right mind? I didn't know it was her, I swear."
"I know you didn't. Now, no more drinking, you have appointments to schedule." Will paused. "Have you talked to Voight? Maybe you shouldn't be working while you're trying to figure this out."
"I do not need to take time off."
"Yes, you do. Do you want our little sister to hate you or not?"
"Fine. I'll take two weeks furlough."
"That's all I ask. Please do not get shitfaced because I will babysit you if I have to."
"Then who's gonna stay with Y/N?"
"I'll figure something out."
***
"You're sure I'm good to go back?" you asked Will as you walked into yours and Jay's apartment building.
"Y/N, he hasn't had a nightmare in a week and a half. Everything's gonna be fine," Will answered.
"I know. I know I shouldn't be scared of my own brother, but, uh, what happened that night, it was..."
"Terrifying?" Will finished for you.
"Yeah, that."
"Well, I'll be there the entire weekend in case anything happens."
"Thanks, Will."
***
Later that night, you laid in bed, trying to fall asleep. But, you couldn't. You just couldn't shake the feeling of walking into Jay's room to try and wake him from a nightmare and having a gun pointed right at you. You couldn't shake the feeling that maybe tonight was the night that Jay would have a nightmare and end up sleepwalking into your bedroom with his gun drawn.
So, you were sitting up in bed, at 3:30 am, having just finished your last movie an hour and a half ago with your lamp on and the current book you were reading open.
You heard the sound of your door opening and looked up.
You held your breath.
Jay was in your room.
"Y/N, what are you still doing awake?" he asked, slowly moving closer to you so he didn't scare you.
You sighed in relief. He was conscious. He was awake.
"I can't sleep," you answered honestly.
"Is it because of me? That you can't sleep?" You looked down and that was all the confirmation Jay needed. "Look, I'm sorry. I know I've said it a lot these past few weeks, but I'm truly sorry. You have to understand that it wasn't me."
"I know. I just, you scared you me, Jay. I was scared I was going to die that night."
"Y/N, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if that happened."
"And you haven't had any nightmares?"
"None in over ten days," he answered.
"Then why are you in my room? I know you come in here sometimes after you have nightmares."
"I came to make sure you were sleeping. Will mentioned you were nervous and I know you don't like to sleep when you're nervous."
"Oh." You paused. "Can you tell me what you were dreaming about? When you pointed the gun at me?"
"Y/N, I'd really prefer not to. I don't want to go back there."
"I get it," you said. "It's traumatic. Like how even though Dad isn't drinking anymore, I don't want to go back and live with him."
"Exactly."
You moved over. "You can come sit if you want." Jay sat down on the bed next to you and handed you Beary so that he didn't squash him. You closed your book. "Can you tell me a story?"
"Like a fairytale like when you were little and Mom would make me read those princess books to you?" Jay chuckled.
"No, maybe a you and Will story or a me and you story from I was little and don't remember much?"
Jay thought for a second until he found the perfect one filed away in his brain under Y/N stories. "Do you remember that time when you brought your first aid kit on your bike because you had just made it in girl scouts?"
"A little, but not really."
"Okay, I'll tell you that one then."
"Jay Jay!" little seven-year-old you exclaimed as you run up to Jay. "Ride bikes with me?"
"I think my bike has a flat tire, but I can get my skateboard. Is that okay with you?" Jay asked.
"Yeah! But Mommy said you gotta wear a helmet because she said we gotta protect our heads," you told him while putting your hands on your hips.
"That's right! How could I forget that? I'll be right back and then we can go, okay?"
"Okay!"
While Jay ran off to find his bike, you ran off to get your first aid kit that you had just made in girl scouts and Beary to put in the little basket on the front of your purple princess bike.
You waited for him and when he reappeared with his skateboard and helmet, he asked what you had.
"Beary and this I made in girl scouts yesterday," you told him. "It has bandaids and this white tape and white soft stuff and wipies."
You handed it to him to take a look. Inside, there were different sizes of bandaids, medical tape, gauze, and antiseptic wipes. "This is such a good first aid kit, kiddo!"
"Thank you!"
You got your bike out of the garage and clipped on your helmet. Jay pressed down on the horn attached to your handlebars before stepping onto his skateboard.
You two rode down the street and then Jay got to a ramp that some kids had made. There was one ramp, a gap, and then another ramp.
"Jay Jay!" you exclaimed. "Can you go on that?"
Jay had gone on homemade skateboard ramps like those hundreds of times. Hell, he'd even made one home and he and Will would do kickflips in the air when going on it when your guys' mom was home. She'd have a heart attack if she saw her sons doing that.
"I can even do a trick while I'm in the air," Jay told you.
"Really?" you asked, your eyes going wide.
"Really. Wanna see?"
"Yes please!"
Jay started a few yards back from the first ramp and started propelling himself forward, gaining speed. Then, your jaw dropped as he skated onto the first ramp and into the air.
"Whoa," you whispered to yourself as he did his kickflip in midair between the two ramps.
But, Jay had overestimated the distance between the two ramps, so when he landed, he landed on the road and not the ramp with way too much force, causing him to fall off his skateboard and land on the ground, scraping his hands across the road.
"Jay Jay!" you yelled as you quickly kicked down your kickstand and grabbed your first aid kit. "Are you okay?" you asked.
Jay stood up and grabbed his skateboard. "I'm fine. Just a little blood, nothing to worry about."
"You're bleeding? Where? I can fix it."
He held up his right hand where his palm was a little bloody. You started to open your first aid kit and Jay knew there was no point in arguing with you, so he just crouched down to your height.
You grabbed a bandaid and started to open it. "You gotta clean it out first, nurse," Jay told you.
"Oh. With the wipey-thingies?"
"Yes, with those."
You opened one of the antiseptic wipes--with Jay's help because those were really hard to open!--and wiped down his palm. Then, you put the bandaid on.
"All better!" you exclaimed as you put the trash back into your first aid kit. "Can we keep going?" you asked.
"We sure can!"
You ran back to your bike and put the first aid kit into the basket next to Beary and then you got on your bike and caught up to Jay. And then, you were off around the block again.
"We really thought you were going to be a doctor or a nurse after that," Jay said. "But, then you realized you hated both math and science." He looked down at you. "Oh, you're asleep."
He set your book on your nightstand and turned off the lamp. Then, he slowly crept out of your room and closed the door, and went back to his room to fall into a nightmare-less sleep.
Despite Will sleeping on the couch, things were back to normal in yours and Jay's apartment and neither of you could've been happier.

They were sitting in their car in the middle of an empty McDonald's parking lot. It was three in the morning, star-lit darkness, the world around them only lit up by the white light of the always-opened drive-through.
It had been a craving that brought them here. Ian waking up for a midnight snack, realizing that Mickey was quite awake too, unable to truly rest until he knew his husband was near, with him. He had been standing in front of the fridge inside their scarcely illuminated kitchen, with Mickey sitting on the kitchen counter, legs criss-crossed watching him. Ian had been contemplating what would be best suited to satiate his hunger, besides the man licking strawberry yogurt clean off the spoon.
A light bulb had lit up above his head.
"Get ready."
"What?"
He threw his hoodie Mickey's way. It was big on Ian most of the time, but it was good enough to keep a person warm. "Trust me, Mick."
Mickey placed the gray sweatshirt over his head, pulling it over his torso until he was engulfed in it. Ian rummaged slowly around for their phones, wallets, and keys, searching for them in the dark. His eyes had accommodated to it, and the moonlight filtering in through the windows helped.
"Where are we going?"
"You look great in my clothes, you know. And, you'll see."
He grasped Mickey by the hand, their fingers locked together in a soft embrace, feeling the warmth of each other's skin. Mickey didn't resist for a moment, trusting Ian with his entire life, following after him like a moth to a flame. The only sound echoing throughout the silent apartment had been the turning of the key inside their lock, and later on the slight thudding of quiet steps outside in the hall before their door.
First they got inside their car, both Mickey and Ian staying silent as the redhead drove through the Westside streets—empty and calm. They were enjoying the peace, the clock on their dashboard showing 02:47, and their bodies were still touching, Ian's palm resting flat against Mickey's pajama-bottom-covered thigh, the ones he felt no need to change out of. Ian was in his too, checkered and amusing, reminding Mickey of a grandpa. It was ten minutes before the logo came into view, large and inviting.
Mickey's stomach rumbled unwittingly as he glanced at his husband, noting the twinkle in his eye. He himself was draped in a thick black sweatshirt, the hood obnoxiously pulled over his head, wisps of hair poking out, flaming red.
"Really?" Mickey asked, a slight flutter in his stomach at the image of it all.
"Open 24/7."
"That's your response?"
"Come on, baby, you're just hangry. Let's get some food in ya'."
Mickey couldn't argue.
Now they were in the car, stuffing their faces with hamburgers and fries, downing them with Coke like madmen—something about late nights made them starved—talking amongst one another with mouths filled with food. With anybody else, it probably would've been disgusting and unattractive.
But not with them. Never with them.
They were playing a game.
Twenty questions that were turning into thirty, all asked with no clear goal in mind, simply the first thing to pop into either one of their heads, out of their mouths only for them to hear.
"Have you ever thought about playing the ?"
"You know I play guitar."
"Do you want a guitar for your birthday?"
"It's my turn to ask the question."
"'kay. Ask."
"How old are those tiny as fuck briefs you have hidden in our dresser and why the fuck do you never wear them?"
"Those are two questions."
"You're blushing."
"'m not."
"Answer it, bitch."
"Just so you know, those briefs are brand new and they fucking fit amazing."
"Why was I then denied the pleasure?"
"Mick—"
"As soon as we get home, you're putting them on."
"Fine."
"You're gonna try them then too."
"Why?"
"Your ass. Have you seen your fucking ass?"
Mickey grinned.
They lapsed into silence as they slurped on the last few sips of their Cokes, plastic squeaking in their hands.
Ian finished his drink with a loud sigh, discarding the cup with the rest of the trash that was sitting between them. Mickey followed suit. They were stuffed now and slightly sleepy, drowsiness appearing in their eyes.
Mickey watched as Ian leaned back in his seat. They had reclined them all the way, so Ian was practically laying in it, long legs sprawled out underneath the console. He placed his hands across his stomach, palms across one another.
"What was the best day of your life?" He asked like the sap he was.
Mickey smiled at the question, teasing, "It's my turn."
"Mickey."
"Okay, fine," He chuckled, not wanting to play that specific game of pull and tug, content with the peacefulness of it all. "Let me think about it."
First kiss. Engagement. Wedding. Anniversary. Too many moments to pick from, each stained with a problem they had faced and overcame, beautiful in their own fucked up ways.
He nibbled on his lower lip as he recalled a memory of compete and utter happiness. No problems, no worries, no sadness. It dawned on him, the sensation like drinking water after days of dehydration.
"Remember that trip to Oklahoma?"
A smile graced Ian's features, his eyes briefly closing as he seemed to recall the day. "Don't think I could forget."
"We spent a whole day at that fair. Rented out a room at some shitty motel. From morning till night we went on every single ride possible. Literally saw every attraction there." He was getting lost in the memory, chest swelling with happiness. "Kissed on top of the Ferris wheel at midnight when it was just about to close, like fucking dorks."
He turned around to glance at Ian. He was looking straight at him, the small upturn of his lips reading clear in his eyes, gazing at Mickey like he was everything to him in this entire world.
Whispering, Mickey said, "That was the best day of my life."
Ian grabbed a hold of his hand slowly, delicately, placing it in his lap, the action making warmth heat Mickey's cheeks. Mickey leaned against his own seat, mirroring his husband, eyes on him all the way.
"The best day of my life was the 21st of June, 2021," Ian said longingly as if he was reading the beginning of some old fairytale-type story.
Mickey couldn't help the laugh that escaped him at Ian's sweet earnestness. "You know the date?"
Ian shot him a look, no bite in it whatsoever. "Allow me to tell the story, please?"
Mickey bit his lip to stop smiling. "Okay, okay, you're allowed."
Ian smacked lightly at Mickey's chest, not moving an inch, still slumped in his seat lazily.
"That night I had a dream," He began. "It wasn't even like a dream. More like a fucking vision—and I know how weird that sounds, trust me. But it was literally like a vision, clear and vivid and everything.
"Anyways, the dream—or vision, whatever—was of you and me, sitting in two lawn chairs, staring out into the world. But the thing is, we were older. Like, ninety-year-old old. We were just staring ahead. Then at each other. The way we looked at each other is how we look at each other now—filled with a bunch of love and fondness. It was just the two of us, together, old and gray."
Ian stopped and took a deep breath, leaning forward in his seat, locking eyes with Mickey who was listening carefully. Mickey straightened himself as well, and they were just sitting in their car, gazing softly at one another as Ian told the story, the remnants of their endeavor resting between them.
"So," He continued. "On the 21st of June, 2021, I woke up and all I could think about was that dream. It was like—like on a fucking loop inside my head, and each time I even glanced at you, I just saw the two of us, old and together.
"And I realized, as fucking weird as it sounds, that it was us. I swear Mick, it was you and me, years from now, just sitting in fucking lawn chairs, staring out into the world. Into each other's eyes." His eyes shone. "And all throughout that day, I knew that one day, we'd get there. That you and I would spend the rest of our lives together until we were wrinkly and gray and doing nothing but being together. Each time I even saw you from the cone of my eye, grumpy and frowning at whatever, I was so happy because I would get to spend the rest of my life with you.
"That, until the day I died, I would have you as my partner. My husband. My best friend. The love of my fucking life; by my side until there is nothing left in the world to do but sit by each other and just watch as time goes by.
"Just you and me, Mick. Until the end."
Mickey watched him inhale deeply.
"Best day of my fucking life, and I get to live it forever."
A tear slipped out of Mickey's eye. He felt it on his cheek, rolling down, hot against the already warm skin, yet all he could see was Ian. Ian with the shimmering orbs and that look in his eye like he was staring at everything he needed in life.
Mickey pulled his hand out of Ian's from where it was resting in his lap, then raised them to palm Ian's cheeks, pulling him in for a deep kiss. Lips moving together in the dark, serendipitous in all ways, the vulnerability for once a blessing instead of a curse.
"You never told me that story," He whispered against Ian's lips.
"It just felt right for me to know. Maybe we were just both waiting for this moment, unknowingly."
Another tear, filled with so much.
"We both live the best day of our life like that, Ian. Every single day."
Ian nodded, smiling against Mickey's lips. "I know, my love. I know."
They were sitting in their car in the middle of an empty McDonald's parking lot. It was four in the morning, star-lit darkness, the world around lit up by only them, the love palpable like a glow, allowing them to see clearly; see all the things that were important to them.
A person needed the match to their gasoline so they could light the fire that would burn and simmer. A person, too, needed the cord to their plug that would alight the darkness of the inside of their chest.
Because one would be lost without the glow in the dark. Or at least not be able to truly see.

‘ A Broken Promise’ Mikasa x Reader Fanfiction || Angst.
||| Chapt.4 「 FINALE. 」 “The Loss of Freedom of the boy who fought for it,”
﹋ 「 This contains MAJOR AOT Spoilers for the manga, please proceed with caution. 」﹋
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“AGH!” Shit. You felt your body falling through the air, blurred vision as You screamed. Something just- hit you, and you had not a clue what it was. Your leg felt numb, almost like it wasn’t there. “Y/N!” Jean called out to you. his voice getting closer as You felt my body hit his arms. “Shit you alright!?” He asked. Gritting your teeth as your focus came unblurred. The sight infront of you, terrifying. Dozens of titans, more than the nine shifters. So much blood everywhere. Remembering the injury, you looked down at my leg to see a big gash in it, blood falling down into the atmosphere.
“There’s- so much… screaming..” Tears fell down your cheeks. “The titan won’t stop..”
Tumblr media
「 This is a time skip to this part. 」
Falco’s titan took you four up in the air. You , Mikasa, and Pieck who can’t turn into pure titans. The people below emerging into titans as you all soared higher. Turning around, you saw Armin fighting Eren in his titan form, his punches no avail to Eren’s.
“Mgh…f-fuck..” You jolted your head as you heard Mikasa murmur. “a-ahh..” She let out in pain. Mikasa’s hand laid rested on her head, her teeth gritted as she suffered.
Her headaches.
That’s what’s happening. Mikasa told you about them once when you both were only cadets. You often helped her through them, letting her lay on your lap as you stroked her hair, giving her comfort. But, that’s all in the past now. You guys are done. Hell, and so is the world..
“I’ll kill him, Help me.” Your Ex’s voice said. “Alright,” Your Captain said. “Y/n, Don’t let Armin accidentally hit us,” He commanded. “And Don’t get caught up with Reiner and Pieck!”
Tumblr media
It was all chaos. The explosion of the thunder spear hitting Eren’s teeth left a ring in your ear. Everything is too much..You thought. I- I don’t know how much longer of this I’ll be able to take..
I need someone. I need something. You shut your eyes as you landed on Armins shoulder, stumbling because of your broken leg. It was a relief to be close to him. He turned his head over at you, looking at your tear stained “THEY’RE GONNA DO IT!” You screamed, telling Armin. “THEY’RE GONNA KILL EREN!” Your eyes fell saddened. Everything went blank for you. The screams of children, mothers, fathers, the elder. People who didn’t deserve it, their screams getting more and more faint with every crush. I just, want it to stop.
Eren’s colossal fist punched Armin as you saw Mikasa and Levi heading for the mouth. Bracing your self you gripped your ODM gear tight hanging on.
Please, God just make it Stop.
And then all of a sudden, you blacked out.
Tumblr media
Opening your eyes, you saw eren standing right infront of you. He looked into your e/c eyes, guilt and regret on his face. Your eyes widened as you saw him. “Eren…” You said, “y-you… you BITCH!” You sent your hand flying across his face, every ounce of anger inside of you you let out in that one punch. He let out a groan of pain, “YOU’RE SUCH A TRAITOR! YOU’RE NOT ANY BETTER THAN ANNIE BERTOLDT OR REINER! DO YOU NOT SEE THE PEOPLE YOU’VE KILLED!” He held his cheek while after being knocked to the ground.
“ARE YOU STUPID!? DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW MUCH THIS HAS AFFECTED US!? DO YOU EVEN CARE!” Tears spilled down your cheeks like a waterfall.
“WHAT HAPPENED TO THE KIDS WE WERE! THE KIDS WE USED TO BE!”
“they’re gone now,” he replied, looking at your angered mess. You gritted your teeth just looking at him. “You are such a dick.” You growled at him. “Y/n, I know how you feel.”
“WHAT!? YOU KNOW HOW BAD IT HURTS SEEING MY FRIEND SINCE I WAS EIGHT KILL MILLIONS OF PEOPLE!? DO YOU EREN?!” Heavy breath as your screaming continued.
“Y/n,” Eren said. “Make sure she kills me,” His sentence caught you off guard.
“AND YOU… what..” you replied back, your eyes widening.
“Right now we are in a place called the paths,” Eren explained. “I need you to make sure Mikasa kills me,” you looked at him like he was crazy. “Eren, you’re fucking nuts.” The man infront of you eyes glimmered the same as they did as when you were a kid. “I- I don’t want you dead.” You confessed. “You deserve it like hell though! What the hell would your mother think!” You shot at him. “She’d be disappointed in me,” He looked down at the sand beneath you two. “DAMN RIGHT SHE WOULD!”
Tumblr media
“Make sure she knows I never hated her, and that she was like family to me,” he said biting his lip. “Don’t tell her I said that, but-“ You were confused, “What are you talking about, we are in the middle of a war you created and you started! We were all at peace till you snuck off to Marley 3 years ago! You said you hated us, that we weren’t ‘free’ you called Mikasa a slave and said that that’s the only reason why she fell in love with me because she’s an Ackerman!”
“Y/n I’m going to tell you this, I did it to protect you.” You scoffed, “did it to protect us my ass, you betrayed us Eren,”
“I know you hate me, but, y/n live your life after this war.” The boy said. “Huh? The hell you getting at? You basically dropped us like flies Jeager! It’s almost like you don’t want us apart of your future”
“No! That isn’t true!” Eren looked up at you, tears flowing down his eyes with pain in his voice. “I did this all so you could have a future! I never wanted to leave you guys! Ever! I wanna be there for you and mikasas wedding! I wanna be there when you have kids! I just..” Eren gritted his teeth, ribbons of water running down his cheek “Nevermind that..”
You sighed, tears of your own forming up in your eyes, “Please, just come home.” You begged. “I can’t,” He said numbly. “I wish I could, but I can’t.”
“We love you Eren, we just want you back.. that’s why Mikasa fought so hard to change you..” you sniffled. “There’s nothing that can happen now, I promise, it’s none of you guys fault,” You sighed, “Eren..”
“I love you all so much, It was worth it.” He said, a small smile on his face. You pulled him into a hug as you cried. “Y/n, I’m so happy for you.. You’ve been through thick and thin and you’re still standing.”
“I just want you here.. with us,” you wiped your tears. “ I always am,” Eren put your hand to your heart, doing the salute. “Always,” his gaze more soft. “Until we meet again, Y/n L/n,” the boy said.
“ See you later, jeagerbomb.”
Tumblr media
You were snapped back into reality only to see It ended. Everything. The screaming. The titans they just vanished. And the war. It was finally over. Oh shit is Mikasa okay?! You thought. Swinging your ODM gear over to Eren’s body you landed inside his mouth.
Mikasa stood there, her body still, as she held up the head of your childhood best friend. Eren Yeager. ‘She- finally..let go..’ she let go of the person who was her only family left. Running through the town of Shiganshina together. You four played hop scotch, fought of Armins bullies, captured butterflies and fire flies. The memories of when you all were kids was the only thing you could think of. She let go.. so it’s time for you to as-well.
Mikasa turned around slowly, her face numb, neutral. The head of Eren in her hand as she held it up to the air, frozen. You gave her a reassuring smile, “I’m.. so.. so..proud of you..” You limped, walked up to her as you cupped her cheek. Her eyes looked up at you, realization in her gaze. All of a sudden she wrapped her hands around your waist, she buried her head into your shoulder. Tears flowing down her eyes.
“You freed him baby..” Sniffling you said, “I know deep down, he thanks you.. you put him out of pain Mika…“
“I never wanted to hurt you.. I never wanted to...” Your girlfriend confessed. “I’m so..sorry..” she choked, tears building up in her eyes. “I love you mikasa,” you replied. “I love you too... “ The Raven Haired woman hugged you tighter, fighting back tears. “I just.. wanna..go home..”
“Then let’s go..” you whispered softly to her. She picked you up as she started heading for the exit of the mouth. Finally after fighting for so long, we got our freedom.
Thank you Eren Jeager, the boy who sought freedom, Goodbye. <\3
Tumblr media
“Waffles!” The child cheered out. A small chuckle was heard from the Raven haired girl that passed out breakfast beside you, “You’re right good job!” She said congratulating the baby that sat at the high chair. It had been three years since you gave birth to (Child’s name) Ackerman. Now here you both were, your year marriage anniversary coming up and your daughters fourth birthday right around the corner, seems you both had a busy schedule for the week. “Thank you love,” you kissed the cheek of your wife as she gave you your tea, “of course,” she smiled returning the kiss.
“Mommy, ummie,” the child with Raven hair asked with curiosity, “how did you meet?” You both giggled a little bit before looking at each other, “well, it’s a long story,” you said to your daughter who’s identical to Mikasa. “How did you get that thing on your face ummie?” Your daughter asked Mikasa, “Someone’s full of questions today huh?” She teased tickling her. The cute laughs of the sweetheart you gave birth to made you smile with joy. Mikasa scruffled up their hair, “how did you meet?”
Looking at each other you both smiled.
“Well honey, it started along time ago, with a boy I knew, named Eren.” :)
Your daughters face lit up in confusion, “Who’s Eren is it one of Uncle min min’s friends?” There was a knock on your door as she asked her question, “well that’s a story for another time, and I gotta get that it’s probably Armin and Annie with Glacious,”
“ummie can you tell me?” (Childs name) asked.
“When you’re older sweetie,” Mikasa smiled.
‘Eren jeager, God, I hadn’t heard his name in a long time’you thought. ‘That boy..’ you laughed to yourself, ‘he stood out from others,’ Eren, the boy who sought freedom.
Memories of him filled your mind as all that was left was his memory, and forever that’s all that will be left. ‘Eren, I know you’re watching from up above,’ you said to yourself.
but as the days passed, his face got blurrier and blurrier, and all that was left were memories of when you all were children in Shingansia District, waiting for freedom to soar.
And Eren, that crazed man, made it soar :,)

‘Where the hell did you get that from?’ I ask Genevieve, who places a large and thick book on the table. On the front cover she wrote THE CAVILL WEDDING in beautiful pink letters  (she most likely printed it out, but okay) and I see she went out of her way with some stickers as well. Design like that isn’t really her forte, but the slight amateurism in it, makes me chuckle.
It has overdoing it by Genevieve Donahue written all over it.
‘See this as a little preparation,’ Genevieve says. ‘I want to make getting married as easy for you as I possibly can.’
I look over to Viola, who takes a sip of her drink. ‘We knew about the proposal back in July,’ she explains. ‘Henry wanted our input on the engagement ring. Gen wouldn’t be Gen if she didn’t go out of her way, already looking for certain stuff.’
Henry fixes his tie, since he is going to work, but he still hears what my friends are saying to me. ‘It’s a cute book,’ he says.
‘You already saw it?’ I ask.
‘Of course. I wanted their input on the ring, they wanted my input on their ideas.’
‘Hm, I see. Gen, I’m not gonna lie. I’m very keen on on checking out that book.’
My friends squeal and are absolutely delighted that this is happening and I am thankful they are willing to help me. I have great ideas, but my planning skills are severely lacking. Besides, calling for appointments? Those are my worst nightmares.
‘Okay ladies, I’m going to work,’ Henry says, walking up to the table where we’re all seated. He sits next to me and places his hand in the back of my neck. ‘If you need anything, just call me, okay?’
‘Of course,’ I say.
He gives me a kiss and whispers: ‘Remember, no budget, okay?’
I roll my eyes, but simply nod. Ever since we got engaged, he continues to tell me we don’t have a budget for the wedding and while that is of course amazing, it’s not like I want to spend a million dollars (if not more) on a party. Sure, having the wedding of my dreams is amazing, but I’d rather invest in a great marriage. ‘I love you, honey.’
He smiles. ‘Love you too, darling.’ He gets up, grabs the keys and as he says his final goodbyes, he walks out of the penthouse.
‘Fuck, he is so hunky,’ Genevieve says. ‘Goodness me, that ass on that man.’
Normally I’d scold her, but now I simply can’t. I let out a giggle and say: ‘And he is my fiancé!’ I obnoxiously wave my hand in front of their eyes, showing off the ring like I have been doing that for quite some time now. ‘Oh, I still can’t believe that.’
‘He is so romantic,’ Viola says. ‘I mean, we all knew he was totally smitten with you in the first place, but going engagement ring shopping with him… Gosh, it was absolutely endearing.’
‘You have no idea how nervous he was,’ Genevieve says. ‘So sweet. He kept double checking with us, because he wanted to make sure you would like the ring.’
I look at it and say: ‘I love it. It’s so bizarre. Who would’ve guessed that I would ever get engaged?’
‘I do,’ Viola says. ‘Have you seen yourself? Of course you would get engaged to the most desirable man on this planet.’
I blush. ‘Still so crazy.’
‘And,’ Genevieve continues, ‘he said no budget, so this wedding is gonna be amazing.’
‘He maybe said no budget, but I’m saying we do have a budget. I swear, if you guys cross a line—’
‘We won’t,’ the voice of reason named Viola says. ‘Promise.’
✤ ✤ ✤
Genevieve, Viola and I went through the book and thankfully my friends already did a lot of work together with some input of Henry. Genevieve told me she is gonna make an appointment for a wedding dress and bridesmaids dress fitting.
She circled in the book full of magic the venue that Henry really liked and thankfully, that was my personal favorite as well. When the two of us finally make a decision about the date, we can arrange it.
Thankfully, she (and Henry as well) is willing to make the calls. Calling makes me nervous, because I can’t see the other person’s face. Henry does most of the calls, if not all of them and while he doesn’t mind, I sometimes hate myself for not being able to put on my big girl shoes and call myself.
By the time my two friends left, I am in the penthouse by myself. Henry told me he’d be home soon and soon really is soon, because the door opens not long after I made myself comfortable on the couch, looking through the wedding book again.
‘There she is,’ Henry says as he enters the living room, ‘my gorgeous fiancée.’
I can’t help but laugh. ‘Are you gonna keep doing that?’
‘Until you and I get married, yes. After that, I’m gonna replace fiancée with wife and you’ll probably be sick of me very soon.’
‘Never,’ I chuckle. ‘Never ever.’
He sits next to me on the couch and presses a kiss on my lips. ’So, did you ladies make some progress?’
I nod and tell him that Genevieve is gonna call for some appointments, for some fitting sessions.
‘Genevieve is gonna call?’ he chuckles.
‘Don’t make fun of me,’ I say, squeezing his side. ‘Tell me, you have a date in mind?’
He simply shrugs. ‘What kind of wedding would you like, baby girl?’
‘Probably a spring wedding,’ I say with a smile. ‘Spring is gorgeous. I love spring.’
He smiles. ‘How about we get married somewhere in April?’ he suggests. ‘It’s usually nice spring weather.’
‘Yeah?’ I ask him. ‘You sure you want a spring wedding?’
‘Honey, you know what I think. I could literally get married to you any second of whatever day. Name a date and we’ll get married then.’
‘April twenty second,’ I say. ‘That sounds like a cute date, doesn’t it?’
‘April twenty second it is. Something happened on that date or…?’
I shake my head. ‘No, it’s just a cute date. Oh, wait a minute. We could do April twenty fifth, if you want the date to be significant.’
His brows knit together in confusion. ‘What happened on April twenty fifth?’
I gasp out loud. ‘You don’t remember?’
He makes a face. ‘I really don’t, I’m sorry, baby. Please enlighten me.’
‘It’s the first time I accidentally called you daddy. During the one and only driving lesson I had.’
‘Oh,’ Henry says with a smile. ‘That’s right, you did call me daddy for the first time then. That’s a great date, the two of us should get married then.’
‘Why?’
‘Because that’ll be our little secret then.’ He presses a kiss on my nose and says: ‘I remember your color drenched face. You were the human embodiment of mortified.’
‘Shut up.’ I hide my face in my hands and say: ‘The shame I felt was uncanny.’
‘I know,’ he chuckles. ‘Well, if it made you feel better, it did turn me on quite a lot.’
‘Oh dear, did you masturbate because of it?’ I joke.
His eyes dart from one point in the room to the other. ‘I might’ve.’
I certainly wasn’t expecting that. ‘No way!’ I exclaim. ‘Oh my goodness, you did? This is such a compliment.’
His cheeks turn red and says: ‘I couldn’t help it, okay. You looked so cute that day and I kept hearing the word leaving your lips. Of course I had to. But then you said it again on my birthday,’ he continues.
‘Remember what happened on your birthday?’ I chuckle.
‘How could I ever forget?’ Henry runs his tongue over his bottom lip. ‘My naughty lady wearing a thong to the club. Still can’t believe you did that.’
I giggle. ‘You always had this dominant edge to you, but that night it was totally obvious what a dom you are.’
Henry starts to laugh, but that is mostly to mask his slight embarrassment. ‘Do you have to say it like that.’
‘Of course I’m gonna say it like that.’ I straddle his thick thighs, as it’s my favorite spot to sit on. ‘You know, I actually don’t mind it at all.’
‘What do you mean?’
‘It maybe sounds a bit dependent of me on you, but I like that I can follow you through life. That you show me how to do certain stuff, how you kinda lead me through it all. Believe it or not, I need that guidance. I need you calling for me, I need you to drive me from place to place and I need your encouragement before those book events or other events that make me nervous. What I most need are your praises.’
He smiles. ‘You’re sweet.’
‘It is? You’re sure it’s not submissive in a negative sense?’
He shakes his head. ‘Absolutely not. I get it, baby, with the life you had, it can feel nicer to be guided. I will happily be that person for you.’
I give him a kiss, a sign as a thank you. ‘It’s funny how faith works sometimes, isn’t it? You and I sign up on a sugar daddy/baby site and eventually, when we finally admitted our feelings towards one another, we’re here. As an engaged couple.’
‘It sure is amazing,’ he says, pushing up my shirt to place his rough hands on my sides. ‘Did you, Gen and Viola find some inspiration?’
‘We did some Pinteresting,’ I admit. ‘To find the perfect wedding dress. And some bridesmaids dresses. It’s just that planning with Genevieve, means probably a million dollar wedding.’
‘Okay,’ he says, but I glare at him. ‘What?’
‘We’re not having a million dollar wedding. Really, I don’t want that.’
He nods. ‘Then we’ll have a less expensive wedding,’ he chuckles. ‘Just don’t worry about the money, just whatever feels good for you.’
I smile and give him a kiss. For a few seconds, something is brewing inside my brain and it rolls out before I can even overthink it. ‘Do we need to talk about a prenup?’ I ask him. For Henry this comes totally out of the blue, because his eyes enlarge. ‘Or not?’ I quickly add. ‘We don’t need to discuss it now.’
‘You and I are not gonna get a divorce.’
‘No, no, no, I know that,’ I say, ‘it’s just that I kinda thought about it already. I think that we should have it. You worked hard for your money and I don’t want to take that away from you. Besides—despite me telling you to stop—you continue to transfer money to mine, yet refuse to let me pay for myself, so you constantly hide my credit card to give me yours.’ I send him a look, causing him to grin. ‘I have enough money to start a life for myself.’
‘But baby,’ he says, ‘even if we get a divorce in the future, before that I am planning on making you the mother of our children.’
Hearing him say that, makes me involuntarily smile. A family with Henry, I cannot believe that. ‘And?’
‘You think I’m not gonna provide for my family? I would be an absolute asshole if I did that. You can count on alimony, both for the kids and you. I’ll make sure you and I can continue to live civil with each other. Really.’
I roll my eyes. ‘Henry,’ I say with a smile, ‘you are so fucking romantic.’
‘I know. So no prenup for us and don’t you dare ever saying that again.’
‘Sure?’
‘I’m absolutely sure, baby girl.’
October 20th 10 a.m.
After Henry and I agreed on the date (April 25th, a little dirty secret of ours), he called the venue we’ve been thinking about for some time. Genevieve, Viola and I are now sitting in the Range Rover, as Henry is going to drop us off at the boutique.
‘This is so exciting, wedding dress shopping,’ Gen says. ‘Just humor me and put on a princess ball gown, please.’
‘And why would I do that?’
‘I want to have a laugh and maybe, if it actually looks decent, I’ll hire you as a birthday princess for when I have daughters.’
I roll my eyes. ‘I hate you.’
‘You love me.’
Viola laughs. ‘Well, I can’t wait for you to find the dress.’
‘Me neither,’ Henry says, holding my hand in his, before pressing a kiss on my fingers. ‘You sure you don’t want me to see it?’
‘Yes,’ I say. ‘I am one hundred percent sure. I want you to be surprised.’
‘And you better cry at the altar,’ Genevieve says, ‘otherwise I’ll force her to walk down the aisle again and again and again, until you cry. I could even help you out, you know, by punching you in the nose, that’ll make you cry.’
Henry can’t hide his amusement. ‘I’ll probably be teary eyed,’ he says. ‘That’s enough for you?’
‘No,’ Genevieve says. ‘I want the real deal. Ugly cry, snot, red blotches on your skin.’
‘I don’t,’ I say. ‘We have to take pictures later on.’
‘Okay, let’s not jump the gun,’ Viola says. ‘We’ll make sure she looks stunning in the dress, Henry. We promise.’
✤ ✤ ✤
I don’t know how many dresses I’ve tried on, but I think this might be the one. The fit is simple, but that seems like something that would be totally me. It’s on the tighter side, but with the straps loosely on my shoulders and the deeper neckline than I wanted, but not overly too much, I realize this is actually could be the one.
I show my two friends, who both have tears in their eyes. ‘This is the one, right?’ I ask them.
Always overly dramatic, Genevieve grabs some tissues and blows her nose. ‘It’s beautiful, Beck,’ she says. ‘You look like such a bride. It’s so real now.’
‘Right?’ I ask with a chuckle, mostly to cover up the fact that I want to cry. ‘It’s… It’s perfect.’
Viola stands up and gives me a hug. ‘I love you, Becky,’ she says. ‘Is it April 25th already?’
‘No, time passes by too damn slowly,’ Genevieve says, before forcing herself into the hug as well. ‘You’re gonna look like an absolute vision. If Henry doesn’t cry, I’ll skin him alive in front of the altar.’
November 3rd 4 p.m.
It’s been a long day. I spend around four hours with Genevieve and Viola looking for bridesmaids dresses and there have been a few changes made. A very significant one and it is still a shock to me.
I walk into the living room, to see Henry sitting on the couch with some papers in his hands and oh dear, he is wearing his glasses. Sometimes I feel like he is doing it on purpose, looking so perfect like that.
‘I have a confession,’ I tell him.
Henry looks up. ‘And what is that?’
‘The bridesmaids dresses are not gonna be pink.’
‘What?’ Henry asks, as he is standing up from the couch. He places his hand on my forehead when he stands in front of me. ‘Are you okay? Do I need to call a doctor?’
I swat his hand away. ‘Very funny, ha-ha. Every pink dress was not in the right shade of pink, however, I found a better color.’
‘Can I see?’
‘Of course.’ I grab my phone and show him the picture I made of Viola and Genevieve. ‘It’s sage green.’
‘Oh, I love this,’ Henry says. ‘I’ll tell the tailor, to make sure that Peter and Gino wear a tie in that color.’
‘It’s so beautiful and it feels a bit more real now,’ I whisper. ‘First a wedding dress, then these dresses.’ I blink my eyes and say: ‘I’ve been a mess this entire afternoon.’
‘Not a mess, just my emotional baby girl,’ he chuckles, giving me a kiss. ‘It’s getting more and more official now. Oh, by the way, darling. Something came for you in the mail.’
I gasp. ‘Is it what I think it is?’ I ask him, following him to the table. He hands me the envelope and I start to squeal. ‘Daddy, this is the interview for Books4U.’
‘I figured. Open up, open up,’ he says, sitting on a chair, pulling me on his lap. I rip open the envelope, careful not to ruin the magazine. I go through the pages quickly, to find the my interview.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
‘How is it possible for someone to look so effortlessly gorgeous in a random cafe?’ he asks. His hands traveled from my legs to underneath my shirt. He places them on my stomach and I don’t feel like I need to have suck in my stomach. It took me quite some time to get used to it, but with his sweet words, I realized I can be myself around him. No more sucking in, needing to be perfect (which I knew for a while), but simply be comfortable as much as I needed to be.
‘It’s so crazy to think that this interview was truly happening,’ I say with a smile.
‘I’m proud of you,’ Henry says, burying his face in my neck. ‘So, so proud of you.’
December 16th 3 p.m.
I joined Henry to his tailor for the right suit, but something has been bothering him for quite some time now. He hasn’t been himself this entire morning and when the tailor walks away for just a second, I decide to take matters into my own hands. I get up from the chair to walk towards my fiancé. ‘Honey, what’s wrong?’ I ask him. ‘You don’t like it?’
‘I love it, baby, I really do,’ he says blankly, staring ahead.
‘What’s with the long face then?’
‘Just realization,’ he says, as he runs his fingers through his hair. ‘I’m going to marry the most beautiful woman on the planet and I just want to look good.’
‘But you do,’ I say, placing my hands on his hips. ‘You are the most handsome man I have ever seen in my life. Don’t you worry a thing, you’re gonna look amazing.’
‘It’s silly, just forget about it.’
‘It’s not silly.’ I stand on my toes and give him a kiss. I quickly check if there is no one within hearing distance and I say: ‘I love you and only you, daddy.’
‘Always knowing exactly how to make me feel better,’ he chuckles.
‘Of course. I’m gonna be your wife. It’s my job to make you feel better.’ I wrap my arms around his waist and he presses his lips on my forehead. ‘I love the suit. Makes your toosh look cute.’
He smiles. ‘Let me change, then we’re going home, okay?’
I nod. ‘Of course. I’ll be right here.’
Henry talks to his tailor for a few more moments after he got changed and when he walks over to me, I get up from the chair, holding his hand tightly in mine. His hand is warm and protective. As we’re going towards the car, he tugs me closer, a lot closer.
Like he needs me.
Henry can’t seem to be able to forget about it, not even when we’re in the car. His hand’s on my leg, but mostly since it’s a force of habit. I hate that he is feeling like this. I wonder what made him this insecure and unsure of himself.
‘Daddy,’ I say, since we’re in the privacy of our car, ‘are you still worrying?’
‘A little,’ he says. ‘It’s ridiculous, I’m sorry.’ Henry parks the car on his assigned parking spot underneath our building and he clenches his jaw. ‘Wait here.’ He gets out of the car and opens the door, but there is something missing.
Love.
When we’re inside of our apartment, he walks towards his liquor cabinet and grabs himself a whiskey. ‘I’m gonna be in my office.’
In other words: I want to be alone.
‘Okay, let me know if you need anything,’ I say to him. He simply nods and disappears into his office.
✤ ✤ ✤
It’s been a few hours and I still haven’t spoken to him. He has left his office, to go to the bathroom and I hear he is in the shower. I don’t even knock on the door and simply march in. ‘Are you okay?’
‘No,’ he grunts. ‘Get in here.’
He is mad and clearly frustrated. Oh dear. I shred myself from my clothing and get in the shower cabin with him. He is sitting on the tile bench, his jaw clenched. I try not to notice his hardened cock, but I do. How could one not notice?
‘Come here,’ he says, not even looking at me, patting his thigh.
I turn the shower head a little, so I can feel the hot water against my skin. I straddle his lap, like he wants me to. He places his forehead against mine and sighs deeply. My arms snake around his neck, as I press my chest against his. ‘Let me in, daddy,’ I whisper. ‘Please tell me what is bothering you.’
‘I can’t.’
‘You can. You can always tell me everything.’
He groans, his fingertips digging into the soft flesh of my butt. My hand reaches in between us and I wrap my fingers around his member.
‘Want me to comfort you?’ I ask him, when he isn’t quite responsive to me pleads. ‘I can do that.’
He simply nods and I rub his fiery red tip against my clit. Henry closes his eyes as he leans his head back against the tiles. When I know I can take it, I bring him near my throbbing entrance, before he slides deep inside of me. His jaw is clenches and he grunts, both from pleasure and relief from the frustration.
I take a deep breath, getting used to his length and girth. ‘Now, tell me about it,’ I say. ‘Please, daddy. Let me help you.’
He sighs. ‘I remembered something. A picture of my parents when they got married.’ It’s obvious that Henry doesn’t want to look at me, so I pull him closer. I feel him placing his chin on my shoulder and not having to look at me, is better for him. Now he can talk to me.
‘When I saw myself in that tux, specifically for our wedding, I saw that picture again.’
‘Oh,’ I whisper. ‘Did that trigger something?’
‘It did.’
‘I’m sorry, honey. But remember, you’re not your dad. We’re not your parents. You and I are totally different.’
‘He visited me again the other day,’ he says. ‘My dad. It was right after your interview came out.’
‘Oh,’ I say, a bit taken aback from the sudden bomb he dropped. ‘Did you file a restraining order against him?’
He shakes his head. ‘No, he wanted to congratulate me on our engagement,’ Henry says. ‘It’s… It was different seeing him now. He gave me that picture I just told you about. Said to me that I had to do better than he ever did, which would be easy. When he left, I got so mad, but I had to pick you up, so I pushed it aside.’
Isn’t that typical? ‘How long ago was this?’
‘Three weeks.’
‘Henry!’
‘I’m sorry, I know I should’ve told you, but I… I couldn’t. I hated feeling like this and I didn’t want to burden you.’
I sit up straighter so I can look at him again. ‘You can never burden me,’ I tell him, in a harsher tone than I intended. ‘I need you to tell me about your feelings.’
‘I’m sorry, baby,’ he whispers. ‘Shit, I’m so sorry.’
I run my fingers through his hair and he gives me a kiss. It’s a desperate one, one that deepens. He forces me to grind on his lap, his cock already twitching. ‘What do you need?’ I ask him, knowing that scolding him won’t do him any good. ‘Please, tell me what you need.’
‘You, baby girl,’ he says. ‘I need you.’
‘Then have me.’
✤ ✤ ✤
Henry is barely showing any mercy to me. His eyes are a few tints darker, his jaw is clenched and he has a tight grip on my body. His thrusts are growing even more rough as he would bend me in a position, exactly to his own liking.
I notice the tears running over his face and place my hands on his cheeks, wiping them away. ‘It’s okay,’ I say to him, when our eyes meet. ‘It’s okay.’
His hips stutter against mine and he gives me a kiss on my lips as he rides out his high. He nearly collapses on me, without any intention of him pulling out. With no intention. I love his weight on me, I love how no matter how tired he is, he always makes sure I won’t be crushed underneath him.
‘Daddy, are you okay? Tell me you feel better.’
‘I do,’ he says. ‘I love you. I love you so much and I should’ve told you sooner. Never keeping this quiet from you. You are my girl, my lady, my wife and I should tell you these types of things. I know that.’
‘Next time something like this happens,’ I say, ‘know that you can tell me. You can tell me anything.’
‘I know that,’ he says. He turns us around, so he is on his back and I’m on top of him. He pulls the covers over our body and holds me close to him. ‘I didn’t hurt you, did I?’
‘Of course not,’ I say. ‘You needed this, I know that.’
‘It won’t happen again,’ he promises me. ‘Like the real adult I am, I’m gonna talk about my feelings.’
‘I’m proud of you, daddy. So proud of you.’

The one where Y/N spent her whole life in love with her best friend, Harry.
Ahh, I wrote this at work and I hope you enjoy!
Warnings: Just some angst, no smut.
Y/N knew the moment she laid eyes on him that he was gonna be the love of her life.
The first time he told her he loved her they were 8 and he had only said it because she got him the best birthday gift ever. He had jumped up and down and kissed her cheek and said "I love you so much" she remembers it to this day.
At 18 they went off to college together. She had begged him to apply so they wouldn't be apart and when they both got in the excitement filled her heart.
At 21 they got drunk together and ended up making out on the couch of there shared flat across from campus. He had passed out and never remembered it.
She thought about that day every day since.
His perfect soft lips attached to hers. Their breaths smelled of liquor. She wanted more but it would never happen.
At 22 they graduated college together. Walking across to get there well earned diplomas.   Y/N had no idea what she was gonna do next.
At 23 Harry became a well known singer. Posting covers on YouTube and eventually getting discovered and signing with a record company.
At 23 Y/N was working a full time job to pay off her student loans.
She was happy for Harry.
At 26 its present day. Y/N just moved in to her new apartment that she got all by herself.
She had worked long nights to save up.
Harry was touring the world with his band. He had been gone for so long Y/N forgot what he sounded like.
"Whenever you miss me and I can't come to the phone. Listen to the voice mail I left on your phone last week. " He told her before he left. She had smiled and the second he drove off she played the voice mail over and over and over.
" Err its me your best mate Harry. I know ill be gone for a while but know you'll always be my number 1 girl. You've always been by my side since we were 6. If you ever miss me play this and you'll here my voice. I promise to come back to you. " she listened to his voice about 100 times as tears streamed down her face.
1 year. That’s how long its been since she last saw his face or felt his hugs. They never had time to face time or snap chat. When they'd text it would be very short messages because of the time zones.
At 27 Harry started dating a girl named Hope. She was his band manager and she was a little older than him. She had brown hair and a slim body. She was beautiful but she wasn't Y/N.
At 27 Y/N had never had a boyfriend. She was waiting for the one boy she loved the most.
When Harry wrapped up his tour and headed home he had never stopped at y/n’s like he swore he would. She had cooked his favorite meal but he never showed.
It was only a couple months later that she found out about Hope. He brought her home to his moms house one day and Y/N smiled like she wasn't hurt.
He loved Hope but not as much as he loved Y/N.
//
At 28 Harry got married. He had sent out invitations to everyone including Y/N. She remembers the day she got it as the tears slipped down her face and her shaky hands crumbled the white card stock.
Her white dress that carved her perfect body made Y/N tear up as she made her way to the front to sit next to all of Harry’s family.
“ I can’t do this i’m sorry” His words echoed in her voice over and over again for days.
He never said “ I do”.
//
It wasn’t until a week later Harry had found himself outside Y/N’s apartment. His hands tapping ever so hard on the door.
“ Harry?” Her sleepy voice made his heart ache as he walked past her to the couch.
“ I couldn’t do it, Y/N”
“ What?” She had asked him, rubbing the sleep from her tired eyes as she sat on the space next to him.
“ I couldn’t marry her. I couldn’t stand up there and say I do when I don’t. “
“ I’m sorry. I don’t really know what to say”
“ You’re my best friend. Be here for me “
“ Are you serious?” “ I waited for you for 20 years and I’ve been here for you through all of your success and through every heartache you’ve ever had. Where were you when I needed you?”  Y/N’s Angry.
“ What do you mean you waited for me for 20 years?” Harry asked her
“ I’ve loved you everyday since we were 8. The first time you told me you loved me and you kissed me on the cheek. I waited for you for years to realize that I love you. That I wanted to be with you. I wanted to give myself to you and to be with you.”
“ You wanted to give yourself to me? As in sex?”
“ I’ve never been with anyone.  I was always hoping you’d come for me. “ Y/N’s standing up now. Her hands stuffed in the pockets of her sweatpants.
“ You can’t put that on me. I didn’t know and you never told me how you felt.”
“ Maybe Harry, in another life I would of said something and we would of spent the last 20 years getting to know more about each other and maybe we would of had this perfect life that you only see in the movies. Seeing you walk out on your wedding made me feel sad for Hope because she probably loved you with all her heart. I know what it’s like to love someone who doesn’t love you back”
“ Y/N I-” She stopped him
“ Don’t its okay. You can sleep on the couch if you need to but I want you out in the morning please, before I leave for work”

Harry couldn’t get it up.
This had never happened before. He’d always been able to get it up no matter how knackered he’d been, and he’d always been proud of himself for his high sex drive. But now he was lying on his back, naked, with his half-hard dick resting on his thigh and his girl kneeling between his legs, staring at his manhood with a defeated expression on her face.
He’d apologised, feeling glad that the room was too dark for her to see him blushing, and offered to eat her out.
“It’s okay. You don’t have to,” she said and planted a soft kiss on his lips. “You’d just had a long flight. I should have let you rest.”
Then she threw the covers over their naked bodies and snuggled up against him. He didn’t feel relieved that she’d let him off without a fight. She’d been so horny and literally thrown herself at him the second he’d arrived at the front door. Why didn’t she just let him eat her out? He’d feel less guilty that way. Had his soft dick turned her off? Harry knew these thoughts were ridiculous, and yet, they kept him awake until early morning.
What if she was tired of him?
.
.
.
“I’m tired of him.”
Those were the actual words from his girlfriend’s mouth.
She was on the phone with her best friend Celine. Harry hadn’t meant to eavesdrop; he’d only come downstairs to make himself a cup of coffee, and as he’d got to the kitchen door, he’d heard her say those words. Maybe he’d jumped into conclusion way too fast, but you couldn’t blame him for being insecure after last night. He’d meant to make it up to her this morning, giving her the most mind-blowing morning sex she’d ever had, but when he’d woken up with a hard dick, she’d already locked herself in the library to finish the chapter she’d been writing last night.
“I tried to help him; I really did, but he couldn’t do it. Yeah, I know I’m a bit harsh but I think he doesn’t have that in him anymore. I’m gonna give him one last chance. If it happens again, I’ll have to leave him.”
Harry gulped, hard.
His girl was going to break up with him because he could no longer satisfy her in bed. Could it be possible that she was talking about something else? No. He could not think of any other situation where those words would apply better than the situation last night. If he was going to lose her because of a half-hard dick, he would live with shame for the rest of his life (the lack of caffeine had made him a bit melodramatic).
However, she’d said she’d give him another chance, so it wasn’t over for them yet. If she was really bored with him, he could still turn this around.
.
.
.
It was 11 PM. Y/N was writing in bed when she heard a loud thump downstairs like someone had knocked over a chair. She jolted and shot her eyes to the door.
“I’m okay!” Harry shouted.
She put a hand on her chest and sagged in relief.
Harry had attended a red carpet event tonight and stayed for the after-party. She hadn’t expected him to come home before midnight, but thank God, he had. Even with all those bodyguards escorting him everywhere he went, she would still get worried every time he stayed out until morning and was too drunk to answer his phone.
“Hey, babe,” she said as her boyfriend emerged from the doorway, leaning a shoulder against it and beaming drunkenly at her. “Did you have fun?”
“Uh-huh.” He nodded and careened toward the bed. She closed the laptop, knowing Harry always demanded her full attention when he was drunk. Most of the men she’d been with had been rough and aggressive and loud when they drank too much. Not Harry, though. Her Harry would become soft and emotional and clingy; she’d got enough videos of him being drunk that could make him the number one Twitter trend for a whole month. But of course, she kept them to herself and might leak them at his birthday party or their wedding reception, because she was a nice girlfriend.
Clumsy and disoriented, Harry collapsed almost on top of her. The smell of vodka wafted all around them as he buried his face into her neck and inhaled her scent as if she was air and he’d just been hauled up from underwater.
She was only wearing a tiny silk dress, no underwear, and she knew how it made him feel; when he flipped them over so she’d straddle his thighs, his hard cock was poking at her pussy.
He nosed along her jawline, causing all her hackles to erect as one of his large hands started palming her breast over the silk. “I’m so hard,” he murmured between wet kisses.
She didn’t protest when he pushed up her dress and closed his hot mouth around one of her nipples. He pressed a hand against her back and tongued at her breast like a puppy with his chew toy. She gasped, arching her back to encourage him.
With his eyelids fluttering and a nipple still in his mouth, he pleaded, “I want you so bad. Can you fuck me, please?”
His hands clutched her thighs and tried to move her against him. It felt good. She wasn’t going to lie and say that she didn’t want to pull down his pants and fuck him senseless. However, she would never fuck him when he was this drunk.
“I don’t want to fuck you if you’re not going to remember it in the morning,” she said sweetly. Harry pulled back and blinked at her. To her surprise, he didn’t even beg. His hands dropped down limply onto the bed as he tossed his head back, his eyes pinched shut. He exhaled sharply. “You don’t want to fuck me at all. You’re tired of me...”
The accusation made her flinch. She cupped his cheeks and tilted his head up. Her eyes locked with his bloodshot green. “Hey, what was that? Why did you say that?”
“Is it not true?” he huffed, his voice brittle as if he was on the verge of tears. “I couldn’t get hard last night, and now you don’t want to fuck me and I’m gonna lose you because my dick was not hard enough.”
“That’s absurd, Harry!” she cried out, trying to stifle a laugh. Drunk Harry was funny without trying.
He slowly shook his head, his expression serious. “You said that. I heard you.”
“I never said that.”
She didn’t know why she was arguing with him while he was too drunk to make sense of himself. But drunk or not, she couldn’t have him think she was tired of him for one time he couldn’t get it up.
“You did,” he said, assuredly. “You told Cece. I’m not...not mad at you for thinking it but you told Cece. Cece would laugh at me.”
“What?! I never—”
Then, it hit her.
She went stiff, her eyes widened. “Oooooh.”
She wasn’t sure if he looked hurt or angry or smug that he was right. Whatever that look on his face meant, it was as hilarious as him misunderstanding her phone call with Celine.
“I was talking about Cece’s brother,” she said, holding his cheeks. “He used to be friends with you in school, remember?” Harry nodded, his eyebrows slightly furrowed. “He was trying to get into the publishing industry. I agreed to help him by reading his stuff and giving constructive comments. He was good at first but then he thought he was too good and he started to give me attitudes. I tried to help but I got frustrated and I was thinking of leaving him to work it out on his own. It had nothing to do with you.”
“Oh…” Harry’s face dulled as realisation dawned on him. Now, he seemed sorry, and his voice suddenly lowered, “I wasn’t eavesdropping, by the way. I accidentally heard it.”
“Doesn’t matter.” She shook her head. “I would never tell Cece something so personal about you. I love you.”
“I’m sorry,” Harry pouted, his face red; she wasn’t sure he was bushing because he was embarrassed or because he was drunk. “I don’t know why I couldn’t get it up. I think I’m getting old, Bambi. That was only a beginning.”
“You’re only four years older than me! You’re so melodramatic.”
“Don’t laugh. It’s not funny!” he demanded, but she couldn’t stop now that she’d started. She was doubled over on top of him, hugging her stomach and shaking with violent laughter. “Stop it,” he whined, tugging at her dress. “My feelings are hurt.”
“Aww, baby, I’m sorry,” she pouted.
His breath caught as she rubbed his massive bulge with her hand, biting her lip while holding his gaze. He pulled her face down and locked his mouth to hers. She moaned into the needy kiss, loving the way his cock grew and twitched in her palm.
“Can I at least fuck you now to prove I can still get it?” he asked raspily.
She smirked. “The fact that you’re still hard despite your feelings being hurt is proof that you can still get it.” This time, he let out a chuckle. She continued stroking his erection over his trousers. “You don’t have to prove anything.”
“I still want to fuck you, though.”
“Well, I can suck your cock,” she said, slowly unbuttoning his shirt. “I haven’t had your cock in my mouth for so long. Kinda miss it.”
Harry’s lips parted with a dazed look on his face as she drew back and crawled down his body until her face was level with his large bulge. His hips bucked as she kissed it lightly and began to fumble with the zipper. She held his eye contact as she unzipped his pants and pulled it down to mid-thigh, revealing the tight black boxers he’d got on. Harry squirmed impatiently when she started palming him through them.
“Don’t fucking tease,” he gasped.
She whispered, “Sorry,” and arched her back so that her bum was higher and her dress slid down to her back; she was bare from her waist down. He pushed himself up to grab a handful of her arse. Her breath caught as he spanked her gently and squeezed the spot where it stung.
She was so wet that her thighs felt sticky, yet she told herself to keep her mind focused on him. She took the swollen tip of his cock into her mouth before sinking her head down, making a content sound in the back of her throat once she’d taken as much as she could. Harry’s airy chuckle turned into a moan when she met his eyes. He fisted her hair gently, his muscles bunched as his cock jerked in her mouth.
“You like it when I stuff your mouth full with my cock, don’t you?”
She hummed in response before bobbing her head, using her hand at the base where she couldn’t get into her mouth. Her other hand slipped down to stroke her clit. It didn’t feel as good as when Harry touched her, but she was so horny, anything that helped her release some tension would do.
Harry growled as he fucked lazily into her mouth, guiding her head up and down by her hair. “Don’t come yet...I want to play with you later.”
She shot him a glare through her wet lashes and moaned in frustration. Still, she obeyed and withdrew her other hand to place it on his thigh. His skin felt hot. Beads of sweat were rolling down from his chest to his abs. Her mouth continued going up and down his shaft, precome oozing out of his tip and she was drooling so much it’d gotten quite messy. From the way Harry was staring at her unblinkingly, she knew he was trying his best not to come at the sight. Her man loved a messy blow job. He’d come so hard the first time she’d let him shoot his cum all over her face and chest. She bet he was thinking about it now.
“Fuck,” he hissed, his nostrils flared. “You look so pretty with my cock in your mouth.”
She pulled off, breathless and started stroking him with both hands. “I love your cock, Daddy. You taste so good. Want your cum in my mouth.”
Harry groaned loudly and threw his head back into the pillow. His soft chants of her name almost got her off. As he arched his back off the bed and released into her mouth, she swallowed as much as she could, some of it dripping down her chin, and Harry continued coming as he muttered curses while watching her take all that he gave.
Once she’d sucked him clean and sat up, panting and wiping her mouth with the back of her hand, he seized her by the hips and dragged her back to his lap. He kissed her passionately, tasting himself on her swollen red lips. They only broke off so he could pull her dress over her head, and she grabbed his wrist and guided his fingers to her entrance.
“This is how tired I am of you, Harry,” she told him with a mischievous grin. His mouth fell open slightly, mimicking her expression when he pushed a finger into her wet cunt. Her fingers tightened around his wrist as he started fucking her with his hand. She held the back of his neck and started moving her hips.
“Look at you,” he said between gritted teeth. “Fucking yourself on Daddy’s finger. You wish it were my cock, don’t you?”
“Yes, Daddy…” She croaked and wrapped both arms around his neck, bringing their sweaty foreheads together and trying to keep her eyes open. He’d inserted another finger and was fucking her hard and fast. It felt mind-numbing good. She hadn’t been fucked for a week; she wouldn’t last long. When she was almost there, she knotted her hands in his curls and sobbed out his name. She was afraid he'd deny her orgasm, but drunk Harry was always the nicest. He told her to come all over him. She was shaking in his arm, panting into his neck as he fucked her through her release.
It wasn’t until she pried her eyes open to look up at her boyfriend that he slipped his fingers out of her and sucked them clean. He kissed her afterwards so she could taste herself on his tongue. She grinned, still shuddering with post-orgasm chills.
They stayed there for a while, glued together by their own sweat as he traced his fingers up and down her spine and pecked her hair once in a while.
“I’m not marrying you for your dick,” she said breathlessly.
He didn’t expect that, so he burst out laughing. “Thanks. My dick and I appreciate that.”
She arched an eyebrow at him, her cheek on his chest. “I guess you’re more sobered now, huh?”
“Hmmm.” His mouth curled. “Can we take a bath together?”
“We never just take a bath,” she reminded him. “And I’m too tired for more fucking.”
Harry let out a soft chuckle as he twirled a strand of her hair around his index finger. “We don’t have to fuck. Maybe cockwarming. I just need a reason to be inside you.”
She raised her head, amused. “You’re annoyingly horny and kinky when you’re drunk.”
“But you love me?” To her surprise, it sounded like a question.
“But I love you,” she confirmed, grabbed his face and kissed him again. “Don’t you ever doubt that.”

Dean’s POV
Two Weeks Later
“Oh fuck yeah!” said Dean, jumping up and down in the driveway as he read over the letter in his hands.
“Dr. Dean that’s a bad word,” said Emily, the five year old three houses down. Dean slapped a hand over his face as she rode past on her bike, her father laughing to himself.
“Hope it’s good news, Dean,” said Chris.
“Very. Sorry about that,” said Dean, Chris waving him off as Dean jogged back inside. He read over the letter again and looked through the packet. “Alright. As long as you keep a B average or above you’re golden kiddo. You get straight A’s anyways so that shouldn’t be a problem.”
Dean smiled and gathered up all of the documents, getting them together with Tessa’s birthday present. Y/N had tried to tell him that giving away his old iPhone was too much but all it did was sit in a drawer now when it worked perfectly fine. He was pretty sure she wasn’t going to be thinking about the phone at all once she found out about the grant.
He looked back at the bag on the table and frowned. Maybe she’d take it the wrong way, like he was trying to save her sister or their family or something like that. He could have given them the application and had them fill it out. They would have probably gotten it still. Dean knew his letter he’d included didn’t hurt but he didn’t want to be that guy. He was already a doctor, already helped Y/N with a job, already paid for dates and things. It was no issue for him at all and he knew she didn’t care about the money but he didn’t want to rub it in her face that he could help more than she could.
Dean grabbed his phone and called Cas, Sam stuck in some network client thing all night he’d told him. It rang a few times before it picked up, the echo in the background telling him he was on speaker.
“Deano!” said Benny. “Gonna make it over tonight after all?”
“Hey guys,” said Dean, sitting down on his couch. “You got the crew together?”
“Nah, just us and the girls. They’re still out shopping. What’s up?” asked Cas.
“You know Y/N?” asked Dean.
“The girl you’re clearly in love with? Yes we know her,” laughed Benny. Dean was quiet and heard them shift on the other end.
“Everything okay?” asked Cas.
“I think I fucked it up. I think I’m going too far too fast.”
“What do you mean?” asked Benny.
“Tessa, her little sister, she’s in high school and I applied for a grant on her behalf for her college and she got it,” said Dean.
“That’s a problem how?” asked Cas.
“I don’t want it to come off as me trying to save them or anything. I’m nervous she’s gonna get mad at me,” said Dean. His friends were quiet and knew a teasing comment wouldn’t come. “Guys.”
“Tell her you applied on a long shot and a grant is what helped you with school. You’re not saving the day, just sharing a benefit you got,” said Benny. “Shit I wish I’d had someone do that for me.”
“What’s going on Dean? You’re normally the last person to freak over shit,” said Cas. Dean sat back and stared up at the ceiling.
“Talk to us bud,” said Benny.
“I like this girl and it’s been years and years since I had a girlfriend. You guys know I’m not good for more than a fuck,” said Dean.
“Lisa was a super bitch and you know that’s not true,” said Benny.
“I am in my thirties and I’ve never had a real relationship. I don’t even know how. I’m gonna fuck this up so bad. I know it.”
“Contrary to how often I call you a dick, you are one of the best people I’ve ever met,” said Cas.
“I agree and you know all our friends and especially Sammy would say the same thing. Brother you gotta relax. This girl from what you’ve said and everybody else says, well we ain’t never seen you so happy so stop freaking, go get ready for your date tonight and put some faith in this girl that she’s not gonna hurt you back,” said Benny.
“I didn’t say-”
“Dean, we’ve known you forever. We know when you’re scared. I know most people in your life end up hurting you but take it from us, not everyone will. I got a good vibe from her,” said Cas.
“Me too,” said Dean quietly.
“You doing okay?” asked Benny. “In general you know.”
“Yeah. Most of the time I’m great now. The past few weeks have been awesome. I think maybe that’s why I keep freaking out over this girl. It’s like, fucking finally, I understand what a good relationship can be.”
“You been to Ketch lately?” asked Cas.
“No, not as a patient. I’m okay.”
“Well still go for a tag up every once in a while for us,” said Benny.
“I know. Never would have gone without you assholes getting on my back in the first place.”
“That’s what friends are for,” said Cas, Benny chuckling. “So where you guys going tonight?”
“Monico’s.”
“Fancy,” they both said and Dean rolled his eyes, smiling to himself.
“Goodbye assholes,” said Dean, hearing them laugh before he hung up. He sat up and took a deep breath. “Alright. Shower. Shave and fingers crossed tonight goes well.”
Reader’s POV
“Okay, presents before or after dinner?” you asked as you carried in a bag to Tessa’s room.
“Before, obviously,” she said.
“Alright, well I know you wanted something really badly this year,” you said. “Why don’t you open the green one first?”
“This feels like an iPhone box…” she said with a big smile. She tore off the paper and grinned. “Awesome! What one is it?”
“It’s a ten. It’s used but in really good condition. I got you a case and extra charger too,” you said. “We can swing to the store and activate it tomorrow.”
“Thanks, Y/N, really,” she said. She grabbed the card next and her eyes went wide when she saw the cash inside. “Y/N.”
“It’s your money you gave me. It’s yours. Buy whatever you want, okay?” you said. She nodded and unwrapped a few more small things, a book she’d been talking about, some make up you knew she’d use, a new pair of her nike running shorts that’d been on sale thankfully. You smirked when she picked up the last two presents in the bag. “Alright. I hope these are...suitable for you.”
She tore off the wrapping on one and started to laugh.
“It’s hot pink,” she giggled. “Why is it hot pink?”
“Cause vibrators come in a variety of colors,” you said with a laugh. “I will let you read through the charging instructions on your own and same for the other box. There is toy cleaner because yes you need to wash these things properly and I got some water based lube. Go with water based. It dries up faster but it works better to me. Oh and wash everything like five times before it goes anywhere near anything, okay?”
“Okay,” she laughed. “I can’t believe you actually bought me this stuff.”
“Can’t get pregnant off a toy,” you said.
“Definitely can’t do that,” said Dean, Tessa wide eyed as he popped his head into the doorway. She shoved the boxes back into the bag and he laughed. “I’m a doctor. Sex doesn’t bother me and I think your sister has a point.”
“Oh my God, I forgot he was here,” she said, running her hands over her face.
“I was wondering where you two ran off to,” he said. He stepped inside and pulled out a box from behind his back. “Happy birthday, Tessa.”
“Thanks,” she blushed. She undid the bow and paper, smiling as she opened the box. There was an envelope inside but she picked up the headphones and shook her head. “Dean I can’t accept this. It’s too much. I already know the iPhone must have been yours.”
“You are smarter than you look,” he said. “But I can’t accept your refusal of my present. I have new ones and those never get used and I’m bigger than you so you’re gonna lose this argument one way or the other.”
“I’d listen to him, Tessa. He gets his way when he wants it,” you said. She rolled her eyes but smiled.
“Thank you. People haven’t been nice to us the past couple years,” she said. You glanced down to the floor, Dean leaving his arm wrapped around your waist.
“People weren’t all that nice to me either for a long time,” he said with a nod. “Someday when you’re able, you help somebody else out, understand?”
“Yeah,” she said with a nod.
“Open the envelope. This one’s a present to you both,” he said. You cocked your head as she tore it open, reading for a long time before she pulled out a paper and handed it to you.
“Dean,” you said, sitting down on her bed after you’d read it a few times. “Dean this…”
“It’s a grant. It’s very similar to a scholarship. I’m an alumni of Elmdale and the medical school there. Tessa you qualify and so I applied on your behalf a few weeks ago and you were accepted. The grant will cover half of four years of tuition,” he said.
“What does that mean?” asked Tessa.
“It means we will have to pay very little with financial aid,” you said. She was beaming and you shook your head. “You applied weeks ago?”
“After I met you two. This house seemed familiar to me for some reason until I remembered. Y/N I told you someone helped me when I was eighteen?”
“Yeah?”
“I think his picture is hanging in the hall,” he said.
“Our dad?” asked Tessa.
“He got me a job and helped me pay for part of my school. I came here once when I needed his help. Your father was a very good man and it’s clear his daughters are the same. Neither one of you deserves to go through all the pain I did. I don’t want you to. It was no trouble at all to do, I swear.”
“Tessa, I work at Dean’s office as a lab tech,” you said. She turned her head and you saw Dean nod. “I lost my job before. We were scraping by. Barely. We’re okay now but without this grant...it would have wiped out our inheritance. That was for weddings and down payments for houses. We can keep it now...we can keep the house now.”
“You hate this house though,” she said. “I hate this house.”
“Tessa-”
“We can downsize,” she said. “Y/N, every night you stare down at their bedroom door. It’s like we live with ghosts or something. It doesn’t have to be so tight. Do we really need a five bedroom house?”
“It’s not as tight anymore. We’ll talk about it. Let’s go celebrate all the good news,” you said. “I’ve been dying for a Monico’s steak.”
“She seemed pretty happy tonight,” said Dean as you sat on the front porch a few hours later. You hummed and rocked in your seat beside him, resting your head on his shoulder. “Did I overstep?”
“No. You were the boy in the mailroom, weren’t you. Dad used to talk about you sometimes. Mostly when I didn’t want to do something. He told me some people my age have it so much harder.”
“True. But you can’t compare one person’s struggles to another’s. It’s not fair to either one.”
“Would you sell this house if you were me?” you asked.
“I like that you live close by. I’d miss that. But it’s a lotta house for the two of you and it sounds like a change might be a good thing. You could downsize to somewhere else in the neighborhood and probably bank a good chunk of money for later on.”
“We could.” Dean was quiet, gears turning in his head. “What are you thinking of?”
“My house is a five bedroom too.”
“Yours is also newer,” you said. “And bigger.”
“Tell me if I’m crossing a line but...you guys...could stay there if you decided to sell this place. Temporarily. Or not temporarily,” he said. You stared up at him and he looked away. “Like I said, I’m sorry, I know it’s...I should go.”
“Hey. I’m not afraid of you.” His head turned back towards you and he swallowed thickly. “Tell me another secret and I’ll you one.”
“I think I I’m falling in love with you and I’m afraid I’m going too fast and that you think I’m creepy or weird deep down and I’m up to something when all I really see is me and my brother in you and your sisters places and I know how much it sucks and how much it hurts and I know you protect her from stuff she doesn’t even know about. I’m sorry for saying that about the house just now. I’d still like to see you though if that’s okay.”
“I think this is fast too but I also think that part of me fell for you the day you carried her home. You don’t want anything from us. Just to help and it’s not because you pity us or anything like that. If I’ve learned anything yet in life it’s that you don’t know when it’s gonna stop and there’s no use in wasting time.”
“What are you saying?”
“You willing to put up with a teenager, a service dog and someone who has not had a moment to themselves in two years?”
“As long as you don’t snore,” he smiled. You laughed and kissed his cheek. “Are you serious?”
“I don’t like this house anymore. If she doesn’t want it, I don’t want it. Maybe we can do some test runs, stay over for a weekend or two, see if we want to make it a not temporary thing.”
“That sounds great,” he smiled. “We’ll figure it out, sweetheart.”
Two Months Later
“I’m home,” you said on the way back from the store. You’d been staying at Dean’s for two weeks now after a nice couple closed on your old house. So far it’d been great and you were perfectly happy to stay there with him and Tessa for the foreseeable future. “I picked up some-”
“He is not my dad. I am eighteen,” said Tessa as she stormed over to the foyer. You glanced back to where Dean was over in the kitchen and sighed. “I want to go to Paulie’s tonight.”
“Who is Paulie?” you asked as you kicked off your boots.
“A friend,” she said.
“You’ve literally never mentioned him before,” you said, carrying some groceries through the family room and to the kitchen.
“That’s what I said,” said Dean as he peeled a potato at the island.
“I thought I said you’re not my dad so you can shut the fuck up.”
“Hey!” you shouted, Tessa freezing up. “Apologize to Dean.”
“He-”
“We are stable for the first time ever because of him. I trust Dean to make decisions for you when I’m not home. If he said no, then the answer is no. Go to your room,” you said. She grumbled and pounded her feet upstairs. You washed up and gripped the countertop. “I’m sorry. I can’t believe she said that to you.”
“It’s okay. I’ll be the bad guy,” he said as he picked up another potato. “Paulie what’s his face doesn’t sound like he wants anything other than in her pants so she can swear all she likes at me.”
“What’d she say exactly?”
“She wants to go over to Paulie’s tonight to hang out with some friends but I overheard her and Hailey talking earlier this week about a party and I don’t need a medical degree to put it together.”
“If she sneaks out I’ll kill her,” you said. You glanced down to Toast’s dog bowl and paused. “Dean what would happen if she drank on her medication.”
“She can’t drink alcohol on that stuff,” he said.
“What would happen if she did.”
“She could have a seizure,” he said.
“Tessa!” you shouted. You jogged upstairs and found her bedroom empty. “Tessa!”
The house was quiet and you put your hands on your head.
“Toast!” you shouted, the dog trotting out from Dean’s bedroom. You immediately ran inside, Dean already upstairs and you saw her sitting out on the balcony in a chair, her face in her knees.
“Can I…” said Dean and you nodded. You followed him outside, Dean walking over and squatting by her seat. “Tessa, what are you doing out here?”
“I wish I was normal, didn’t have a fucked up head.”
“I got one too,” he said.
“Do you have to take medicine for seizures? No?” she said.
“No but my dad used to beat me up,” he said. She turned and he nodded. “He would try to beat up my little brother too sometimes but I would take the hits when I could. Tessa, you can’t drink when you’re on your medicine. You just can’t.”
“I know that,” she said.
“You can’t sneak out and leave Toast behind either. It’s not safe.”
“I wasn’t going to.”
“Y/N and I get scared too is all.”
“You just pretend to like me cause you fuck my sister.”
“For the record, I don’t fuck your sister. Relationships are complicated. You might not realize this but I care about you for you. If I didn’t I would not want you in my house, in our house, and I wouldn’t get scared about you going to parties with guys that just want to use you for sex. I give a shit about you Tessa whether you believe me or not.”
“You don’t care,” she scoffed. “You feel sorry for us. Nobody on earth would ask two strangers to move in unless you-”
“Tessa you can think whatever you want about me. I’m not your father and I’ll never try to be him. But I sure as shit know how to be an older brother. So be pissed off and be rude and whatever else you want to. I’ve done this before with my own brother. You don’t scare me. The only thing that does is you getting taken advantage of or you getting hurt and Toast isn’t there to help. Someday you’ll get it through that thick skull of yours what the truth is but until then, I’ll be the asshole who doesn’t let you go to parties you’ll get hurt at.”
“You pity us.”
“I’m jealous of you.” She stared at him and you swallowed in the doorway. “Your parents loved you. Mine didn’t. You want to talk about being fucked up? I’m here anytime.”
She nodded and he sat up on the bench with her. You went inside and finished preparing the potatoes, mashing them up and saving them for later. It was nearly ten by the time you heard the stairs creak and Dean walked down them.
“Y/N,” said Tessa. You got up from the couch and walked to the bottom of the stairs, Tessa glancing down. “I’m sorry for how I’ve acted today and treated Dean lately. I was…”
“It’s okay,” he said quietly as he rubbed her back.
“I was scared when we moved in here a few weeks ago. I don’t want to lose you too and Dean takes up time that it used to be just us and I know the accident wasn’t my fault but I feel guilty still sometimes and I know your life is different because of it too and I want you guys to be happy, I do. I just get scared you’ll forget about me. I don’t wanna be alone. I’m not ready.”
“You don’t ever have to be alone, Tessa,” you said. She nodded and looked up at Dean.
“I know. I was silly. But I’m better now,” she said.
“It wasn’t your fault,” you said.
“I know,” she said.
“Why don’t you head to bed, Tess. Tomorrow I can come to your session with you like we talked about,” said Dean. She nodded and walked upstairs, Toast trotting into her room. You walked upstairs and into your bedroom with Dean, shutting the door after yourselves. “I should have...change is difficult on kids with PTSD. I should have realized that’s why she’s been so snippy. I thought it was just hormones.”
“Probably both,” you said, climbing onto the bed. He lay down next to you, staring up at the ceiling. “You care for her.”
“You two are a package deal, sweetheart,” he said with a light chuckle. “Can’t love one without loving the other.”
“Like you and Sam,” you smiled. “I can’t wait to meet him in person.”
“Me too.”
“Is Tessa okay? You guys talked a really long time.”
“She was afraid I would replace her, push her out. Granted I do like spending alone time with you and everything but she needs you and I’m not here to take you away from her. I think she understands that now.”
“Dean why haven’t we had sex?” you asked. He sat up and you shrugged. “We’ve dated nearly three months and you don’t even try to cop a feel. For how fast certain things are between us, that one feels a little slow. I just want to understand. I don’t...I’m not saying it’s a problem I just want to know.”
“You asked me on our first date, or you made a comment, that I don’t seem like the shy around women type.”
“Yeah?”
“I didn’t use to be. A smidge, especially if they were the one that seemed to be controlling the situation but it was always good. I had some girlfriends, had some hookups. More than my fair share of hookups. The girlfriends…”
“The bitch one?” you said, getting a chuckle out of him.
“I stopped thinking I was relationship material for a while. So I did hookups for a long time and that was good. Until about two years ago. I haven’t had sex since.”
“Did someone hurt you?”
“No. I just...I asked her to stop and she didn’t.”
“Dean she hurt you.”
“It’s not that big a deal.”
“Yes, it is.”
“Well I don’t want to talk about it anymore, okay?” he said. He put his back to you and you took a deep breath. “I’m sorry. I know we sleep in the same bed and…”
“And I don’t need to have sex with you. Would I like it? Sure. But my sister and I aren’t the only ones in this house that need to be taken care of. You’ve done a really good job of that lately and I’d like to start pulling my weight in that department. When you’re ready for sex, you tell me, otherwise, I will just cuddle you real hard until then, okay?”
“Alright,” he said quietly. He reached behind himself and wrapped your arms around him. You kissed the back of his neck, Dean taking slow breaths. “I don’t really know how to let someone take care of me though.”
“We’ll take it slow,” you said. “Like maybe with you being little spoon tonight.”
“Alright. I can try, sweetheart.”

“Besides, when have—!”
“No.”
Hoseok frowns, eyes narrowing on you. “You don’t even know what I’m going to say.”
Going through your mental checklist, you neatly place the documents in your hands on your boss’s desk. Today has been a hectic day at the office. It was a miracle that you even managed to finish everything by the end of your shift. On days where you can barely tell the difference between left and right, you found yourself clocking extra hours. You suppose you have Hoseok to thank for that. By some grace of God, he was assigned on the same project as you and as annoying as your friend could be, he also knew when to keep things professional.
He’s already set to leave for the day, waiting for you to finish up. Since the days are getting shorter, he’s made the habit of walking you to your car after work. He stares at you with a dubious look in his eyes, and you hold it for a moment before you walk towards your cubicle to pick up your keys.
“I know you,” you start, grabbing your purse and keys. “I know what you’re going to say because I know you.”
Hoseok scoffs at that, crossing his arms over his chest. A part of you hopes he stops his questioning and drops the topic altogether. However, you know Hoseok. Dropping a subject isn’t his specialty, even if the world demands that he should.
As you try to leave your office, Hoseok blocks your path. “Y/N.”
You keep a straight face. “Hoseok.”
“I am your best friend—!”
“Debatable.”
He ignores you and continues, “And I love you—!”
“Also debatable,” you murmur.
“—which is why I cannot for the life me understand why you would keep secrets about your sex life from me.”
He catches the attention of a few of your co-workers. You brush them off with a smile, wishing them good-night before you pull Hoseok inside an empty office by his loosened tie. He lets out a choked cough as you drag him in and shut the door behind him, keeping your conversation away from prying ears.
“Are you trying to kill me?” Hoseok hisses, rubbing his neck. “I just want some details about the new guy you’re screwing. How’d you meet? How long has this been going on? Why was I never informed you were dating someone?”
You close your eyes, pinching the bridge of your nose. “For the millionth time, I am not dating anyone. And there’s nothing to know—!”
“You’re lying! Again!” He points a finger in your face. “You left the bar with someone on the night of Ellie’s birthday and you’ve been secretive ever since.” He narrows his eyes. “Who are you hiding?”
You swat his fingers away, brows furrowed. “I’m an open book. I have nothing to hide.”
“Bullshit. You're as open as Yoongi.”
“How is Yoongi?” You ask, not-so-subtly deflecting. “It's been a while since I’ve seen him. You need to stop keeping him all to yourself. I miss my ex-roommate.”
Hoseok and you have known each other for as long as you’ve been working for the company. He sat in the cubicle beside yours and over time you became good friends. Yoongi, your roommate at the time, stopped by the office to drop off some lunch and met Hoseok before you could introduce them.
At first, the two despised each other, their personalities crashing — Hoseok too bright, and carefree and Yoongi more mellow and conserved. However, things began to shift between them over time and now Hoseok walks around with a ring in his jacket pocket at all times.
Hoseok’s cheeks dust pink. “I haven't proposed yet if that's what you're wondering.”
“Just let me know who’s best man I’m going to be,” you laugh.
“None of ours, ‘cause I’m going to ban you from the wedding—!”
Your eyes widen, appalled. “Why—!”
“Who are you dating?”
Your mouth clasps shut, glaring at him. “No one.”
It’s not a lie, Jungkook and you are not dating. Your relationship with him was far from romantic. However, Hoseok doesn’t know that and you’re not sure how you're supposed to tell him. Especially when it seems as though your past is trying to relive itself in the form of another man. You worked hard to move on from when you fell in love with your co-worker — you’ve worked so hard to put the past behind you and keep your professional life separate from your personal. Yet, it’s as if all of that hangs by a thread, threatening to slip through your fingers because history is trying to repeat itself.
How were you supposed to know your kind-of one-night stand was the youngest heir of Jeon Enterprises? You wouldn’t have dared to take a bite of the forbidden fruit if you knew.
A headache forms at the very thought of Hoseok’s lecture once you explain to him you unintentionally fucked your boss. It’s why you’ve been avoiding him and deflecting his questions throughout the day. You sigh, meeting his eyes.
What Hoseok doesn’t know cannot hurt him, right?
His eyes narrow on you, mouth opening for a rebuttal, but the knock on the door silences him. Your attention turns towards the door and you forget to breathe at the sight of the man at the door.
Jungkook's eyes immediately find yours, a small smile tugging on his lips. He looks sweet — innocent, even. Nothing like the man who feasts on you like fine cuisine. Your breath gets caught in your throat when you vividly remember the sinful things he can do with those lips — that mouth. You push the thoughts to the side, mirroring his smile despite the rapid pace of your heartbeat.
“Mr. Jeon,” Hoseok speaks first, clearing his throat.
Jungkook's eyes widen a fraction as he finds Hoseok standing a few feet from you, mirroring the shocked expression you wore moments ago. As if he didn’t even notice Hoseok’s presence.
“Please, call me Jungkook,” he starts, sheepishly, running a hand through his hair. “There’s no need for formalities.”
Hoseok simply nods. “Right. Jungkook.”
“I — uh,” you clear your throat, ignoring the heat that rises to your cheeks as Hoseok's scrutinizing gaze flickers between the two of you. “Did you need anything?”
“Ah,” Jungkook’s eyes flicker towards Hoseok. “Nothing in particular. I was going around trying to get to know the team better. You just seemed preoccupied earlier and I didn’t want to disturb you, so I thought I’d catch you now.”
“Oh,” you say, stupidly.
“We were was just about to head home,” Hoseok adds, glancing between the two of you. “We’ll see you tomorrow.”
"I see,” Jungkook hums and his lips curl into a frown momentarily. “It was nice meeting you today. I look forward to working with you both.”
You hold his gaze for a moment before you respond, “Yea, likewise.”
“Me too,” Hoseok deadpans.
Swallowing, you ignore the look Hoseok sends you. It’s clear, he knows; he's put the pieces together. You will the heat in the apples of your cheeks to dissipate as you keep your composure.
“Goodnight.” Jungkook nods at Hoseok before returning his attention to you. “I’ll see you later.”
“Night.”
As he leaves, his gaze lingers on you for a second too long before he walks away. You let out a breath of air you didn’t realize you were holding, hand resting against your thundering heart. Hoseok waits for the door to shut and for Jungkook to round the corner before—!
“I’m not going to lie,” he begins, leaning against the desk, “that was painful to watch.”
“Shut up.”
“You’re fucking him.” It wasn't a question.
“We slept together a few times,” you sigh, pressing your fingers against your temple. “He said he worked at his father’s company, but I didn’t know his father was CEO of Jeon Enterprises. It didn’t even piece together that he was the Jungkook our team manager was talking about until I saw him this morning.”
He lets your words sink in, humming as he studies you. “He was totally gonna ask to fuck you tonight.”
“Shut up.” You throw your keys at him, but he catches it with ease. “We’re… supposed to meet tonight.”
He raises a brow. “To fuck?”
“Mhm.”
You’re supposed to meet tonight for a date, but Hoseok already knows too much. Telling him you decided to humour Jungkook for a date will only worsen your headache. Mainly because Hoseok will tell you the only reason you’re humouring him is since you like him.
Only two weeks have passed since you first met and look at the mess it’s already created. What should’ve been strictly a fuck-buddy relationship has turned for the worst.
“You probably shouldn’t.”
“I know.” You slouch, defeated as you lean against the desk beside him. “I know.”
“Wow — wait.” Hoseok’s shock turns into a frown. “You bailed on me Sunday night for mediocre dick, didn’t you?”
“Not mediocre dick,” you sigh, reminiscing the last time you went over. Although, it doesn’t last for long — “Ow! Hoseok, what the fuck?”
“That's for bailing on me,” he snorts before flicking your forehead again. “And that was for telling me his dick game is good.”
You roll your eyes, scoffing, but that doesn’t stop the rush of memories from last weekend. Limbs entangled between sheets, hands grazing every inch of your bodies and lips twined with yours. Your body still remembers the comfort of his warmth as he brought you to euphoria over and over again. A mere memory makes your knees weak.
Your phone buzzes in your hands and you suppress your groan.
[ 6:14 pm ] jungkook (dude w the nice dick): you still coming over?
You don’t realize Hoseok leans over to read your text until —!
“Booty-call.”
Flicking his forehead, you ignore Jungkook’s message. “Come on, let’s go.”
“Alright,” he says, following after you. He keeps quiet until you’ve both entered the elevator, away from other’s prying ears. “Are you going to visit him tonight?”
“I don’t know.”
Your thoughts are torn between right and wrong — your career and pleasure. Meeting him tonight and ending things would be the right decision, but you’re not entirely sure you would be able to avoid his advances if you tried.
You’re screwed.
It’s been long since you crossed the Gates of Eden and sunken your teeth into the divine fruit, and now you’re addicted to the taste.
You are so incredibly screwed.
