Honestly? Of all my original characters, Rick Mallard is just a middle aged man down on his luck and looking for fufillment. Literally uprooted his whole life to find happiness, and found a gremlin along the way.

Memory Loss - Chapter 2

Arriving at the hospital Gibbs was immediately taken to the shock room and further examined while you others were examined too and patched up. 

After that you were worried and impatiently waiting for any news of the status of your boss in the waiting room. You had to witness how he was brought into an operation room, which increased your concern many times over. Nobody said a word because you were all paralyzed. But after waiting a while finally one of the medics came to you and said “Are you here for Mr. Gibbs?”

Tony stood immediately at attention saying “yes, we are.”

“Listen. He has lost a lot of blood, but fortunately his head is as hard as a stone, so that there is nothing to worry about. We have patched up his minor bruises and now my colleagues take care of his wound on the head. He is still unconscious and we have to operate on him. But if there are any non-visible injuries to his brain we will only see when he awakes.”

“Thank you for your efforts.” Tony whispered and hung his head. 

The medic only nodded and answered “let's hope for the best.”

Then he walked back into the operating room and the painful waiting began once more. Everyone was silent and you walked up and down the hallway, because you could not sit still while waiting. “It's not your fault” you hear Tony whispering to you. 

You looked at him sadly, answering “I wish you were right, but it doesn't feel like it.”

Eventually Ducky, Abby and Jenny arrived and asked for news, but you still had to wait and shook your head no. There was no new information concerning his injuries. 

You held Abby in your arms because she was totally lost and sobbing. You tried to comfort her, but it was comforting for you too, because you were full of guilt. He sacrificed himself to protect you and got heavily injured. Nobody knew if he would survive and if he would get well again. But you hoped that so much, maybe more than the others. Because you wouldn't be able to live with this guilt that he died because of you. And you simply couldn't lose him, it would be too much to go on. 

Little did you know that this was the exact reason why he protected you as much as he could. He simply couldn't lose you and if he would lose you, he wouldn't be able to live with this guilt. 

You all waited and waited until after an hour one of the doctors came to you once again. Ducky went directly to him and said “I'm Dr. Donald Mallard and I'm the emergency contact and a very close friend of Gibbs. So tell me, how is he doing?” 

“A colleague, wonderful. I'm Rick Miller and I'm the attending physician. We patched up all bruises of Mr. Gibbs, stopped the bleeding and stitched up the wound on his head. But he has lost a lot of blood and we had to release the pressure in his brain. Fortunately no bone is broken, but because of his head injury he is still unconscious and in a coma. At the moment he is stable, but we can't say when and if he will wake up and we can't say if his brain is damaged. That we won't know until he wakes up.”

Ducky hung his head and whispered “thank you” to doctor Miller. 

“Can we visit him?” he asked. 

“Yeah, sure. It can help if you speak with him.”

“Good, we will try everything if it helps him.”

The doc led you to Gibbs’ sick room and you prepared for the worst. But as you saw him lying there with his head bandaged and all the tubes and monitors around him you began to cry and so bitterly. 

The great and mighty Leroy Jethro Gibbs can really get hurt. Sure, he was only a human, but no one would have thought something like this could ever happen. The whole team was shaken to the core. 

Standing there and trying to cope with this sight everyone was silent until doctor Miller spoke up “you can visit him and talk to him, but please only one at a time. Otherwise it would be too much because he absolutely needs rest.”

“Yes, understood” you all agreed. Then he left and went to check on other patients and you were all left to cope with the situation. As the director, Jenny took the lead and asked everybody to go home to rest from your own injuries. Nobody wanted to leave Gibbs’ side and felt like they would be letting him down if they did, but as time went on, tiredness slowly took over and Tony, Tim and Jenny left the hospital to go home and try to get some sleep themselves. 

Ducky and you were left in the waiting room and talked about the whole incident and what may happen. 

“It's my fault, Ducky. He is in this situation because he wanted to protect me from the blow. What if he doesn't wake up again? What if he wakes up and is not himself anymore?” you mused and sobbed desperately. 

He held you in his arms comforting you and spoke soothingly “it's not your fault. It was his decision and he would do it again every time when it's necessary. Just like you would do for him.”

“But when he wakes up, I'm sure he'll blame me for being so badly hurt because of me” you said, sniffing. 

“Y/N, look at me.”

You looked up through tear filled eyes and were met by the kind eyes and smile of Ducky.

He took your hands in his and whispered “believe me, he will not do such a thing. He will be glad that you are still alive and healthy.”

“But…”

“No but, you will see when he is awake.”

You leaned on him again, but you didn't have the strength to cry any more. So you just kept each other company in silence.

three h/cs you've never told anyone: (ive probably said these already)

kira's first victims were three school bullies she maliciously planned on killing prior to becoming a vampire. they were three girls her same age that tormented her for years prior. she was encouraged by her father before he passed to pick someone who she truly hated and channel all that rage and hunger that comes with the transformation into killing someone she thought deserved to die in order to curb the inherent need to target one's family or loved ones. in hindsight, they weren't evil. they were just bullies that made her life a living hell because they had no sense of control in their constantly changing homelife. however, 13-year-old kira could not distinguish that. she saw three mean girls who pretended they liked her only to neg her, insult all aspects of her identity, attempted to use her to do their homework, promised to show her all the pop culture and conventional beauty techniques she was missing out on, and ghosted her... and she thought that was enough to inflict creative violence. she took one's eyes, another their jaw, and the last one, their heart.

while kira's dad is essentially dracula, our dracula is a composite of many different dracula stories. the most central of which are: nbc's dracula (the inventor), young dracula (the father), dracula untold (the war hero), van helsing (god's nemesis), bram stoker's dracula (the plague and the forbidden love), and castlevania lords of shadow (the devil's nemesis). he is all these things, and very tired. he's also a slut, and I will accept that kira has distant siblings by other dracula brides or cousins from other sides of the family. its just her all alone in her side of the world since in many verses cillian is stuck in a different dimension or tragically dead.

Kira's not against the idea of something like a symbiote or a parasite living in her body and sapping some of her strength in exchange for giving her abilities. It's when there's the possibility that it'll change her blood chemistry permanently or take over her mind and transform her into something that's no longer her anymore but one with something else and doomed to serve something else that she's completely put off. It's not worth the power or the community and she would rather walk alone as an anomaly and turn her own fledglings than deal with something ancient with backwards values.

What do you think the main DHMIS trio names are mine are Rick (Red Guy) Darold (Yellow Guy) & Mallard (Mallard/Duck guy)

I think their names will remain a mystery to us forever, as even the creators haven't given them official names. But they will always drop little teasers and clues to throw us around a bit!

Yellow Guy has the D on his overalls so I suppose it's fair to assume his name starts with a D, but also his name is apparently very long and has a hyphen in it.

Duck's name supposedly consists of a single symbol.

I used to call them Redmond, Donnie, and Crowe, but I think I also like the idea of embracing the ambiguity.

Today, on "Critters I saw in Florida":

Lizards. The Brown Anole, and the Curly Tailed Lizard...which eats the Brown Anole. Also, both of them are invasive species. So I have to assume the Curly Tailed Lizards also ate all of the native Floridian lizards.

The Curly Tailed Lizard reminds me of a Helioptile.

Muscovy Ducks. Weird ducks. They look like they could beat up the mallard ducks back home. Also, these are invasive too. Is Florida's ecosystem okay?

Apple Snail. As you know, you should never touch weird eggs, just in case you're in a movie or a character in Rick and Morty. They might give you rat lungworm*, like the eggsac of the Apple Snail, which my mom peeled off the side of a canal wall to see what it was. In her defense, it looked like gum.

(*Wash your hands after touching weird eggs. The shell can also be contaminated, so sterilize it if you want to keep it.)

Do not reach for the forbidden gum.

#TH1RTE3N  is  a  group  verse  based  around  original  slasher  lore.  if  you  want  to  know  more  or  you’re  interested  in  joining,  please  read  the  CARRD.

the plot follows a slasher in two different timelines, targeting a group of friends who all went to school together. the first timeline takes place in the summer of 2009, following graduation leading up to the first six victims being killed. there was a thirteen year gap, where most of the survivors fled town and moved on with their lives. the second time line picks up in the summer of 2022 with kill #7, when first hale came back to hell and ended up being the first kill of the new timeline. the killer used the funeral and threatened family members and friends to lure the other six names on the list back to hell. the original six victims are available to be written in the 2009 timeline. to make this plot work best, we need other citizens of hell, ohio too. think of the characters in your favorite slasher films. cops, classmates, siblings and cousins, exes, anyone that could spice up the plot through dynamics. you are welcome to make another character affiliated with any other existing character in the plot, as long as you discuss it with the mun of the character you are affiliating with first (i will check, don't be weird.)
