BRITTANY: Look, Alvin, don’t take this the wrong way, but it’s probably best if you don’t come to the party.

ALVIN 2.0: Let me guess. None of “my kind” is welcome there? Aka “No Nerds Allowed?”

BRITTANY: No, but I don’t think you’ll enjoy it.

ALVIN 2.0: What makes you say that?

BRITTANY: The last party I invited you to.

ALVIN 2.0: What does that have to do with anything?

BRITTANY: You were so tired from rushing to finish your homework…that you sort of….fell asleep on the table.

ALVIN 2.0: I don’t remember that.

BRITTANY: Of course you don’t.

ALVIN 2.0: Can I come if I promise not to fall asleep?

BRITTANY: You’re not gonna last more than fifteen minutes. (Sighs)

ALVIN 2.0: I will prove you wrong!

(Later, at the party.)

BRITTANY: Whooo! It’s almost midnight! This is so much fun! Isn’t it, Alvin? Alvin?….ALVINNN!?

ALVIN 2.0: (snoring loudly while his head’s down on the table)

BRITTANY: (grumbling) I knew it. At least he lasted more than fifteen minutes.

AoNoSummer2023 Day 9 - Shopping 🍱

Another script piece, a future AU 💜💙 Rizmo piece ft. their kid. Izumo has fallen ill due to a fever so Rin looks after her and their son, and takes care of the chores including shopping while dealing with their hyperactive son.

(Set in a canon-divergent AU in the future where Rin and Izumo are married and parents, in their late 20s-early 30s)

Missing Scene — Aziraphale & Crowley’s Conversation

This is what happens when I give myself permission to write angst.

Aziraphale’s Bookshop - Evening

[The camera enters from the front entrance of the bookshop, the sign is flipped to CLOSED. We pause and zoom in as we reach Crowley, sitting at Aziraphale’s desk, drinking. His glasses are off and his hair is messy.]

C: Aziraphale?

A: Yes, Dear? [His voice is muffled. We hear books being shelved and a few steps taken forward, but the camera remains focused on Crowley.]

C: Do you know—the only reason [Stilted words, think “DOLPHINS”.] why I would have agreed to be an angel (again)?

A: [The floorboards creak loudly, and Aziraphale sighs.] …We’ve talked about this Crowley, I’ve apologized—

C: [He cuts him off, his voice has an obviously forced “playful” undertone to it.] No, no. I’m not asking you to apologize again, angel. I just, wanted to tell you this.

[A few seconds of silence.]

A: Well, alright then. Go on…

C: I’ve thought about it a lot… since well—everything. [Crowley takes a deep breath in, a clear attempt to solidify his resolve.] When we first met, I could feel you… I could feel your love… for me. I doubted, and I worried, and I asked too many questions of Her, but there was never a moment in which I had to question you. [Another deep breath.] When I fell, I lost that. I lost the ability to know that you loved me… and I was too much of a coward to ask, so instead, I waited… and I hoped that one day… maybe, I would be good enough. [Crowley’s body sags inwards.] I miss—I don’t want to be an angel, I don’t think I could ever willingly choose to live through that pain again. But if I had to, I know that feeling—that you… [His voice trails off.]

[More shuffling can be heard, it’s closer than before.]

A: …Oh, my dear boy, thank you for telling me. It’s a good thing you always have me here to remind you of my feelings, hmm?

[…Another silent pause, although this time it stretches uncomfortably long. Something is clearly NOT right.]

C: Of course, angel…. [Crowley’s voice falls to a whisper.] I—[He says something we can’t quite hear.]

[The camera pans out to reveal Muriel behind a nearby bookshelf, holding a first edition of Jane Austen’s, Persuasion, against their heart, looking heartbroken and unsure of what to do.]

[We cut back to Crowley, who downs the rest of his drink, and puts his glasses back on. We’re able to see the tears in his eyes before he can hide them from view.]

This is old but I wrote this script formatted story idea a while back for a Sabrina the Teenage Witch reboot where Harvey and Sabrina move back to Massachusetts to raise their *mostly* mortal kids. Because of this, Sabrina decides to keep her witch identity a secret from them so that maybe they can live normal lives. Chaos ensues and her kids find out in the first episode.

[Saxon groaning pathetically.]

EVEN (shouting) Master!

SAXON Present.

EVEN (curt) I don't belong to you. (shouting again) Missy!

SAXON Well, she's not here.

[An expectant silence followed by Saxon getting to his feet on his own noisily. Another expectant silence, this time followed by footsteps drawing closer. Another pair interrupts them, Even's, taking only two steps before they both stop.]

Please, don't look too happy to see me.

EVEN I'm not.

SAXON (lying) The feeling's mutual. (singsong) She's not coming back for you, (regular) so you're stuck with me. Doesn't that make you nostalgic?

[Even doesn't respond for long enough to disrupt the flow of the conversation.]

EVEN You would have come back.

[Even sighs.]

SAXON Obviously I would have. You're my pack mule.

EVEN Don't call me that.

SAXON Would you prefer guard dog? You do still have that gun somewhere?

EVEN (ignoring him) Eight.

SAXON What?

EVEN Eight versions of you. I had an equal chance to end up with any of them. Or alone. Or with… Um. (frustrated) She, um. The woman who wasn't you. (eureka) Miss Grant.

SAXON One of the Doctor's other pets. A very old model.

EVEN (audibly restraining themself from repeating him in any way) Or I could have gotten the one who sounded like Jack. I liked him.

SAXON Who?

EVEN Sunglasses.

SAXON You want Agent Smith? You can't complain that I'm mistreating you and then ask for him. Do you want to know how he got that accent?

EVEN Not really.

SAXON He took it when he took that body. It's human. It had a life, a wife, a-

EVEN You did that.

SAXON (annoyed) He did it more recently. The sunglasses cover up its eyes. Dead giveaway otherwise. He crawled inside it, made himself at home, and failed to make it count for anything.

EVEN You failed.

SAXON (angry) I won! You'll believe Missy, like she's done anything with her own life-

EVEN (matching his volume) It's your life!

SAXON Exactly! I'm not throwing it away for her to waste! I deserve this!

[Silence. Wind.]

What are you doing with your face? Stop it.

EVEN (upset) I'm not doing anything.

SAXON (disgusted, mostly with his own reaction) Close your eyes. Stop looking at me like that.

[He huffs. Even sniffs. He shifts, as though looking away and back again.]

I told you to close them. Now, look what you've done.

EVEN (crying) I'm not doing! Anything!

SAXON Do I have to hit you?

EVEN (no hesitation) Yes.

[Silence.]

[A slap.]

[Even squeaks. Then they let out a harsh breath.]

SAXON Done?

[Even sniffles and breathes in with just as much effort.]

EVEN Done.

[They breathe in again. In the distance, there's the rumble of a car. Saxon turns to watch it as Even exhales.]

Why didn't you say you could do that?

SAXON You asked for it. Don't act all 'woe is me' because I left a bruise.

EVEN (pleased) Left a-? (stops themself) No. About bodies. About. You said you-

SAXON He.

EVEN You got inside another person.

SAXON (innuendo) Every other day, if I can help it.

[Even sniffs again. They don't get it.]

EVEN (whispering, mimicking Saxon) If I can help it. Help. (regular) You should have told me what I was there for. If you wanted me around because I'm human and you can- However you do it. Why didn't you?

SAXON (the answer is because I wasn't going to, or because I was and I decided not to later and then I'd have to come up with a reason why that both of us would believe, or because I still would have if I had to in order to live, and then I would have eaten you all up until there was nothing left, and you'd be gone, do you understand that, you'd be gone.) I had enough trouble keeping you on a leash when you were waiting for me to kill you. You really think I would have let it slip that I wanted to wear you to stay alive. You'd have shot me. I've had enough of that for one regeneration.

[Two pairs of footsteps. One moves back. The other advances.]

[Even hums.]

EVEN I don't look good in sunglasses.

SAXON I don't look good in human. We all have to make sacrifices.

EVEN (tiredly) Sacrifices. Because you deserve it.

SAXON See? That wasn't so hard. You always come around to my way of thinking. (realizing something) So stay close to me. And… if we run into me again, don't listen to what I have to say. What they have to say. Especially her.

EVEN (half a laugh) Heh.

[The sound of another car passing in the distance. They're both quiet.]

SAXON So, do you have that gun?

EVEN Yes. (pause) I'm not going to kill anyone for you, Master.

[Two pairs of footsteps, heading away together. Their voices get similarly distant, slowly trailing off and leaving the wind behind.]

SAXON No, I'm sure they'll be very helpful and give us the car if you show it off.

EVEN And if they don't?

SAXON Then, I'll kill them. Spare you the trouble. (muttering) I don't know why you care. The Doctor's gone. You can't impress her anymore.

EVEN I still don't believe you.

SAXON I threw her into a star!

EVEN (mimicking him, mockingly this time) Into a star! You don't believe you, either. You're still waiting for her to show up.

SAXON Why don't we just walk the rest of the way in silence?

[Silence and further shuffling of footsteps]

EVEN (very faintly, far away) You're right. This is nostalgic.

"Tim Friede’s YouTube channel is home to a collection of videos depicting the Wisconsin-native truck mechanic subjecting himself to purposeful snake bites, blood slowly dripping down his arms.

For the past 20 years, Friede has been one of the most notorious “unconventional” medical researchers, undergoing over 200 bites from the world’s deadliest snakes — and more than four times as many — 850 — venomous injections. 

He did it all in the name of science.

According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 100,000 people are killed by snake bites each year, with countless more being disabled by the venom of the deadly reptiles. 

While life-saving anti-venom is available, very few countries actually have the capacity to produce it properly, given that most bites occur in remote and rural areas, and anti-venom requires arduous sourcing and accuracy. 

But Friede’s blood is now full of antibodies, following decades of strategic exposure to the neurotoxins of mambas, cobras, and other lethal slithering critters.

His blood is now the source material researchers are using to develop an anti-venom capable of neutralizing a broad spectrum of snake bites...

Friede started this hobby — which he is indeed adamant no one else tries at home — out of sheer curiosity in childhood. After playing with harmless garter snakes in his youth, he began keeping more dangerous species of snakes as pets. At one point, he had 60 of them in his home basement.

In 1999, he began extracting venom from his snakes, drying it, diluting it, and injecting himself with tiny doses — keeping meticulous records as he went.

He had one major hospitalization in 2001, when he was paralyzed and in a coma for four days. But instead of giving up, he doubled down. 

“In hindsight, I’m glad it happened,” Friede told The Times. “I never made another mistake.”

Jacob Glanville, an immunologist and founder of biotech company Centivax, stumbled on Friede’s videos.

Now, Friede is the director of herpetology at Centivax and serves as something of a “human lab” to Glanville.

“For a period of nearly 18 years, [Tim] had undertaken hundreds of bites and self-immunizations with escalating doses from 16 species of very lethal snakes that would normally a kill a horse,” Glanville told The Guardian.

“It blew my mind. I contacted him because I thought if anyone in the world has these properly neutralizing antibodies, it’s him.”

To develop the new anti-venom, Glanville and his fellow researchers identified 19 of the world’s deadliest snakes — in the elapid family — which kill their prey by injecting neurotoxins into their bloodstream, paralyzing muscles (including the big, important ones, like the heart and lungs).

The trouble is, each species in the elapid family has a slightly different toxin, meaning they would each require their own anti-venom.

But Friede’s blood contains certain fragments of each of these toxins; protein molecules seen across the various species. Because of his decades of service to science, his blood also contains the antibodies required to neutralize these toxins, preventing them from sticking to human cells and causing harm.

Combining the antibodies LNX-D09, SNX-B03, and a small molecule called varespladib that inhibits venom toxins, Centivax has successfully created a treatment effective against the entire range of 19 species’ toxins.

Their work, which was recently published in the journal Cell, will soon be tested outside of the lab. 

Trials will start with using the serum to treat dogs admitted to Australian veterinary clinics for snake bites. Assuming that goes well, the next step will be to administer human tests.

Researchers also believe that because the serum stems from a human, this should also lower the risk of allergic reactions when being administered to other people. 

“The final product would be a single, pan-anti-venom cocktail,” Professor Peter Kwong of Columbia University, a senior author of the study, told The Times.

Or, he added, they could make two: “One that is for the elapids, and another that is for the viperids, because some areas of the world only have one or the other.”

As for Friede, he maintains his affinity for snakes, though his last bite was in November 2018, when he said “enough is enough,” according to The New York Times.

By then, he had certainly done enough. His pursuit of immunity could feasibly save countless lives.

“I’m really proud that I can do something in life for humanity,” Friede told The New York Times, “to make a difference for people that are 8,000 miles away, that I’m never going to meet, never going to talk to, never going to see, probably.”
