I love the seduction part of a relationship, the attention and the butterflies, but I'm terrified to fall in love. I fall too hard and too deep.

Story of my life

Steamy bits all too brief

Sparks fizzled out by

The slightest breeze or

Inconvenient sneeze

Pages getting turned too soon

After the turn on...suddenly

It's the end of that chapter

Are we missing out letting fear

Rewrite the tale or is it one

Old as time, told in lowered voices

Behind hands directly into ears--

That once a lover is right within reach

It's so much more daunting

Than fun carefree flings

Because offering the whole heart

Comes with a mess of strings

Longest and tightest being the one

Connecting two hearts together

Cutting it means intense pain

Is it worth taking the chance

Or are fleeting pleasures

More my thing?

Sorry, your boyfriend got reincarnated. Yeah, he doesn’t remember that time you murdered him with your bare hands. He doesn’t know how much you love him. He doesn’t know that you’ve killed for him. He doesn’t know that you’ve killed him. He doesn’t know it’ll happen again. As he takes your hand and your heart, and you laugh from atop an animal the two of you ride together, he doesn’t know you’ve been here before. He doesn’t know it’ll happen again.

I've taken too many chances

With my heart, ossified now

Except you somehow break

Through--I know you don't believe

That to be true viewing me

As impenetrably cold and aloof

That's the front put up, walls raised

Layer upon layer added over time

Faster than the plaster can be applied

And fully dry my defenses

Kicking in instinctually

Locks clicking in place and you

Might just be a master locksmith

For although all I seem to do is play

A long game of keep away, I don't want

To keep at this desolate race

So I might turn around and run

To you instead one of these days

My heart may be quicker

On the uptake; the bind is in convincing

A messy mind afraid of another

Crushing mistake
