Drink water. Keep your nails + toes done. Go shopping, spoil yourself. Chase your goals. Take trips. Have more talks with God. Stay away from negative energy. Surround yourself w/ ppl that have your best interest at heart. Invest your money. Save up to get a bigger bag. Be selfish, but most importantly.. ENJOY YOURSELF MAKE YOURSELF A PRIORITY
It is week five, our final week, of Holiday Blues. How y’all keeping?
The holiday season can feel a lot. For those who celebrate, Christmas has come and gone, we are on the verge of a new year, and we’ve got the long winter months before us 😩 but that is why we’ve got Self-Care Sunday, and that is where we want to give you some essential time to rest and recuperate well into the new year.
For Holiday Blues this year, we have partnered with Therapy for Black Girls, who have put together some essential resources to help YOU through the winter and ensure you get the essential downtime y’all need to truly look after yourself. For this last week, the theme is Affirmations and Self-Care!

If you ever plan to take a Pilates class here are some things you should know…
1. Bring a pair of grip socks 🧦 ( I didn’t and ended up paying $17 for a pair on hand. It is what it is)
2. Hydrate. Hydrate.Hydrate. Do not come empty handed without a water bottle because as cute as this looks it is a workout that will have you needing to catch your breathe.
3. Your head will be against the reformer 80% of the time so wearing a bun can be uncomfortable (I kept having to turn my head to the side so that my bun wouldn’t continue to press against my head)
4. If your studio offers beginner classes please suggest taking that before diving into more skilled classes.
5. Stretch beforehand. The next day my glutes are super sore and while I’m glad for that muscle to be woken up , stretching beforehand can save you some pain.
6. The aesthetics give soft girl era but the workout can be intense for your first time so come prepared to move your body.
7.Get out of your head and enjoy yourself! Who cares if your form isn’t perfect like the instructor that has been doing this for X+ years. If you continue to do it you will continue to get better 🫶🏽
Another comic about managing anxiety for #SelfCareSunday. For me, anxiety is less about racing thoughts and more about upset stomach, tight chest, sweat, headache, etc. I've found that when I don't get sucked into a worry spiral stressing about the physical symptoms of anxiety, they tend to go away a lot faster. The less I worry, the less I have to worry about, I guess. Easier said than done, of course, but that's why I practice a lot!
Take a little time today to take care of yourself!
Take some deep breaths, have your favorite drink or snack, call or text a friend, take a bath, take a nap, paint your nails, take some time for a hobby, change your clothes, wash your face, wash some dishes, pre-plan dinner or tomorrow's lunch, write a note to yourself to remember that thing you need to do tomorrow, wipe the kitchen counter down, take out the trash, snuggle your pet, forgive a mistake -- yours or someone else's, get one single thing together.
Do something kind and necessary to improve your mood, your environment, your day.
You deserve some kindness from yourself.
You deserve some respect for yourself.
