For the Maya, the honey bee is more than an insect. For millennia, the tiny, stingless species Melipona beecheii -- much smaller than Apis mellifera, the European honey bee -- has been revered in the Maya homeland in what is now Central America. Honey made by the animal the Maya call Xunan kab has long been used in a sacred drink, and as medicine to treat a whole host of ailments, from fevers to animal bites. The god of bees appears in relief on the walls of the imposing seacliff fortress of Tulum, the sprawling inland complex of Cobá, and at other ancient sites.
Today, in small, open-sided, thatched-roof structures deep in the tropical forests of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, traditional beekeepers still tend to Xunan kab colonies. The bees emerge from narrow openings in their hollow log homes each morning to forage for pollen and nectar among the lush forest flowers and, increasingly, the cultivated crops beyond the forests’ shrinking borders. And that is where the sacred bee of the Maya gets into trouble.
---
In 2012, the Mexican government granted permission to Monsanto to plant genetically modified soybeans in Campeche and other states on the peninsula without first consulting local communities. The soybeans are engineered to withstand high doses of the controversial weedkiller Roundup; multiple studies have shown exposure to its main ingredient, glyphosate, negatively impacts bees, including by impairing behavior and changing the composition of the animals’ gut microbiome. Though soy is self-pollinating and doesn’t rely on insects, bees do visit the plants while foraging, collecting nectar and pollen as they go. Soon, Maya beekeepers found their bees disoriented and dying in high numbers. And Leydy Pech found her voice.
A traditional Maya beekeeper from the small Campeche city of Hopelchén, Pech had long advocated for sustainable agriculture and the integration of Indigenous knowledge into modern practice. But the new threat to her Xunan kab stirred her to action as never before. She led an assault on the Monsanto program on multiple fronts: legal, academic, and public outrage, including staging protests at ancient Maya sites. The crux of the legal argument by Pech and her allies was that the government had violated its own law by failing to consult with Indigenous communities before granting the permit to Monsanto. In 2015, Mexico’s Supreme Court unanimously agreed. Two years later, the government revoked the permit to plant the crops.
---
As Pech saw it, the fight was not simply about protecting the sacred bee. The campaign was to protect entire ecosystems, the communities that rely on them, and a way of life increasingly threatened by the rise of industrial agriculture, climate change, and deforestation.
“Bees depend on the plants in the forest to produce honey,” she told the public radio program Living on Earth in 2021. “So, less forest means less honey [...]. Struggles like these are long and generational. [...] ”

Hello! I love your page layout!! May I send in a request for Platonic Headcanons with TF-141 and Los Vaqueros with a hacker reader? (Like SilverWolf In Honkai star Rail) Reader is part of a group of 4 deadly people including their self and act as their hacker. They’re notorious for breaking into many government and military systems and are an enemy to TF-141 and Los Vaqueros. With reader having a bounty of 51 billion but still having the lowest bounty compared to others in their group!
I’d be interested in their reactions to reader!
(Take your time tho!)
ahh thank you so much for sending this in! I've been in a bit of a writer's block so this brought me back :)

When your file first crossed Laswell's desk and she passed it over to the team, they were surprised at its sheer size
From hacking the US government to disabling NATO comms, it was clear you had become an enemy of every government across the globe
The US even tried to make a deal with you and offered a high-paying job in the NSA in return for a detailed account of how you hacked into their systems
You returned the job offer with a hack that left their website non-functional for weeks
"Impressive one you have here, Laswell," Price commented as he flipped through your file
"They call them 'Oblivion' and the use of 1's and 0's is a nice touch" she quipped before briefing them on your team's current location
That's how they ended up back in Mexico and crossed paths again with the Los Vaqueros
"Fuck it's so hot here," you said as you fanned yourself with a makeshift paper fan
The leader of the group, Phantom, rolled his eyes as he continued to clean your array of weapons and tools
"Not my fault we got tracked down to that oil rig in the Pacific," he replied through gritted teeth and you threw a stray stack of files toward him
"Told you, that wasn't my fault," you angrily responded, "the Australians tracked down someone's unprotected IP"
You shot a glance toward the single individual who was the source of all your forged documents and consistent flow of funds
As the group divulged into chaos at your singular comment, you were distracted by the blinding light and ringing from a flash bang through the window
"Get down!" you could hear a loud baritone voice boom as you blinked rapidly amongst the rubble of your work
As you looked around at your surrounding teammates in various states of disarray, you could see the vague outline of an attack team making their way through the destroyed door
"Fuck me," you swore as you grabbed a weapon and your laptop- two vital necessities
You scrambled to your feet and found yourself crouching behind a sturdy kitchen counter
"Isn't there supposed to be four of them?" you could hear a distinct British accent, probably from Manchester, comment
You silently swore at yourself as you attempted to shuffle away towards the back exit
"Oblivion, we know you're here," another voice replied as you could hear cuffs being slapped onto your team accompanied by their pained and disoriented groans
You put your ear to the counter, hearing the vibrations of their heavy footsteps on the home's wooden floor as you turned the safety off your weapon
"Come out now and we'll lessen that bounty on you," the same voice chided, "what is it 51 billion US now?"
As you held your breath, you could hear them slowly making their way through the home. By your estimates, there were about 6 of them, give or take
Your mind raced with different scenarios as you heard one of them walk into the kitchen
You pushed yourself into the corner and with a stroke of luck you noticed them inspect the cupboard
"I got you, you Brit," you whispered as you wrapped your arms around their neck and held a gun to their head
"Don't say a word and follow me," you instructed as they struggled against your grip
Strength was never your best feature but it helped you to overpower the soldier, the name "Garrick" printed on his vest
As you walked to the main area, you immediately felt all eyes and guns pointed at you
"I wouldn't shoot if I were you," you said calmly, "wouldn't want anything to happen to your Sergeant"
"We don't negotiate with terrorists," an older man spoke, by the way he was directing the team, you assumed he was their captain
"I'm more of a gray hat hacker regardless," you smirked, "steal from the rich and give back to the poor."
"How noble of you," another sarcastically replied as you stood in the tense atmosphere
"Regardless, you'll let me walk out of here and maybe we can have the pleasure of this another time," you remarked as you cocked the gun in your hand
"And if we don't?" the Captain asked as he raised an eyebrow at you
You smiled as you wiped away the dust from your face and stared back at him
"My bounty is going to be higher than the rest of them," was the last thing you said before releasing the sergeant and lodging a non-fatal bullet in his shoulder
As the entire room delved into chaos, you made a hasty escape and hopped on your motorbike outside
"Thanks for everything, Phantom," you whispered before riding off into the sunset with the hopes of running into that mysterious group with better circumstances

Shatabhisha- Stuck in a loop!?⭕️
Tumblr media
Ruled by Rahu and situated in a sign governed by Saturn, Shatabhisha Nakshatra intertwines the themes of Rahu and Saturn.
Rahu represents obsession, addiction, perfectionism, illusion, desires, and the material world. Saturn, on the other hand, symbolizes restriction, ambition, delays, and discipline. This nakshatra is intriguing to observe because Saturn is often seen as the only planet capable of controlling and restricting Rahu. Addiction is a recurring theme for those heavily influenced by Shatabhisha Nakshatra.
Rahu, symbolizing the insatiable head/mouth, constantly seeks satisfaction. People with strong Shatabhisha influence may struggle with feeling perpetually unfulfilled.
Tumblr media
The main symbol of Shatabhisha is an empty closed circle, representing restriction, karma, and limits. ⭕️
This reminds me of a snake eating its own tail, a metaphor for self-destruction often seen in these natives. They may feel stuck in a loop, constantly desiring more than they have, feel, or can access. This symbol illustrates their urge to break free from patterns and limitations.
Tumblr media
Shatabhisha also embodies the power to heal, represented by the 100 physicians and healers. Individuals influenced by this nakshatra often have a strong desire for self-improvement, healing, and spiritual growth. They are driven to push boundaries and explore their limits, often oscillating between extremes—addiction to unhealthy behaviors or a "perfect" lifestyle.
Lewis Hamilton is an excellent example of someone who effectively harnesses the energy of Shatabisha. His ascendant lord, Venus, is in Shatabhisha, conjunct his Mars in the 5th house. His Rahu is in Krittika of Taurus, with Venus as the dispositor. Lewis follows a plant-based diet and is very strict with his fitness regimen, as even a small weight gain can affect his racing performance.
This year, he launched a non-alcoholic Blue Agave Spirit, Almave, produced in Mexico.🥃
Tumblr media
Krittika, associated with the deity Agni, the god of fire, governs cooking, drinks, and digestion. Agni has the power to burn/purify, reflecting his disciplined approach to diet and lifestyle.🔥
Tumblr media
Another example, she’s Shatabhisha Moon.
Tumblr media
Another example that comes to mind is Emily Blunt, who has her Sun in Shatabhisha, fittingly playing a role in “Edge of Tomorrow” that mirrors the themes of this nakshatra, as well.
In the film, her character, Sergeant Rita Vrataski, helps Major William Cage (Tom Cruise) break free from a time loop by repeatedly facing and overcoming challenges. Rita’s journey in the movie reflects the Shatabhisha themes of perseverance, healing and ultimately, breaking the cycle to achieve a greater purpose.
Tumblr media
Dealing with Rahu's influence can lead to excess, a desire to experience, feel everything or nothing.
However, understanding one's restrictions and seeing the bigger picture can bring freedom. Recognizing and accepting personal limitations allows one to channel obsessive desires into sustaining something meaningful in the material world.
By acknowledging and respecting these restrictions, individuals can transform Rahu's chaotic energy into focused ambition and disciplined action, leading to significant achievements and personal growth.

Asian slaves, indigenous Americans, and identity in colonial era Mexico
The Spanish Philippines had a diverse slave population for local labor and export, including Filipino Indians [i.e. natives; indios], Muslim war captives (moros), and foreign slaves from as far away as Portuguese India.
… Upon their arrival, chino slaves [i.e. any Asian slave, not just Chinese] were absorbed by the urban economy of Mexico City, where they mainly worked as domestic servants or in textile mills (obrajes) … For their part, working in the city provided chinos with some possibilities for manumission. Chinos in domestic service were especially apt to embrace the limited opportunities available to them and to experience some social mobility. In the obrajes, chinos had few of the freedoms given to domestic servants, but they did benefit from government oversight of the industry. During official visits, chino slaves appealed for protection from overt exploitation by claiming that they were Indians (even if they were from Portuguese India). Remarkably, visiting inspectors listened to their complaints, and they often responded by liberating individual chinos under the assumption that they were indeed native vassals and could thus not be held in bondage. The overall experience of chinos in the viceroyal capital confirms the benefits of living close to the center of colonial power.
The presence of free indigenous immigrants from the Spanish Philippines in Mexico reinforced the idea that all chinos were Indians. The complex governing structure of colonial Mexico involved two republics or political communities (the república de indios and the república de españoles); this organization separated the indigenous majority from everyone else to facilitate the collection of tribute and the ministry of the Catholic Church … [N]ative immigrants from the Philippines purposely sought to confirm their membership in the Republic because corporate status provided personal advantages. They asked to be tallied in tribute rolls in Mexico to benefit from concomitant privileges, such as trading rights and legal representation through the General Indian Court. At the same time, free Filipinos were frequently confused with chino slaves - a situation that had serious consequences for Filipinos' relations with colonial institutions and enslaved individuals. Some immigrants resented having their indigenous identity questioned and sought to maintain a sense of their Indian-ness by keeping their distance from chino slaves. The majority, however, expressed solidarity with chino slaves. Filipino artisans, for example, took on chino slaves as apprentices and taught them marketable skills. Similarly, Filipino traders incorporated chinos into their own credit networks to facilitate self-purchase.
Individual chinos who were manumitted also embraced an Indian identity, regardless of whether they were from Goa, Macau, or other places in South and Southeast Asia. In this way, chinos challenged official attempts to define them solely as former slaves. Instead, they sought to join the free republic. The possibility for this kind of social integration caused widespread concern among slave owners. To defend their property rights, masters started to brand chino slaves on the face, rather than on the chest or arm as they did with Africans, in order to dissuade them from fleeing and "passing" as free Indians. This horrifying development shows that Indian communities welcomed runaway chino slaves and, by extension, that slave owners sought visible markers of their slaves' status.

what do u think could've been the best possible ending for javier after the gang's downfall?
oof, probably finding another group with similar ideals. His whole personality, his whole self is based around ideals, that is also why he joined Dutch to begin with. I also think it would be the one thing that could have saved him from his own downfall. He went crazy because he thought everything he believed in was fake, the truth is, it wasn't, his ideals were good, his ideals had meaning, but the execution, the plan, the leader, Dutch was not good.
Finding someone with similar ideals, either in Mexico or America would probably be the best, because then he could be reaffirmed in himself. Hell with the right group he might even have stopped Reyes from becoming a tyrant, he might have been able to save Mexico, he had the fighting spirit, the motivation, the skills, he just needed someone to back him up.
I don't think he could ever settle down. His whole life was about fighting, about wanting to make a change, suddenly just settling with someone, ignoring the problems would not be possible, he needs something to fight for.
Another fact to note is that Javier works for the government in rdr1, and I think that really proves how badly he thinks of his ideals as wrong. He fought them his whole life and that caused everything he loved (his fam and the gang) to split, no wonder he turned to the other side.
(Sorry if this is badly worded, I got a fever for the first time in ten years and I am dying)

Woman Who Was Charged With Murder After Abortion Sues Texas Prosecutor - The New York Times
A woman in Texas who was falsely charged with murder over a self-induced abortion in 2022 has filed a lawsuit against the local prosecutor’s office and its leaders, seeking more than $1 million in damages.
Lizelle Gonzalez was arrested in April 2022 in Starr County, near the southeastern border with Mexico, and charged with murder after using the drug misoprostol to self-induce an abortion, 19 weeks into her pregnancy. She spent two nights in jail before the charge was dropped.
Self-induced abortions can refer to those performed outside of professional medical care, including the use of abortion pills. Under Texas law at the time, abortions after six weeks were illegal, but pregnant women are exempt from criminal prosecution. (Health care professionals who provide abortion procedures and medication, and others who help someone get an abortion, can still be liable.)
Ms. Gonzalez, who was known as Lizelle Herrera and 26 at the time of her arrest, filed a complaint on Thursday against Starr County, along with its district attorney, Gocha Ramirez, and assistant district attorney, Alexandria Lynn Barrera. She argues that the arrest and charge resulted in her suffering reputational harm and distress, and seeks to “vindicate her rights but also to hold accountable the government officials who violated them,” according to her lawsuit.
Ms. Gonzalez and her lawyers were not immediately available for comment on Saturday.
Mr. Ramirez and Ms. Barrera also did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the lawsuit. A month ago, the state bar of Texas found that Mr. Ramirez had unlawfully prosecuted Ms. Gonzalez without probable cause and fined him $1,250. His law license will also be held in probated suspension for a year, which means he must comply with specific requirements but can practice law during that time. That period starts April 1.
According to the complaint, Ms. Gonzalez took the abortion medication in January 2022 and went to the hospital for an examination. Doctors found a positive heartbeat for the baby and no contractions, so she was discharged the next day. But later that day, she returned to the hospital with complaints of vaginal bleeding, and doctors performed a C-section to deliver a stillborn child.
The Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of misoprostol and mifepristone, another commonly used abortion pill, through 10 weeks of pregnancy, under the supervision of a health care provider. But the World Health Organization endorses self-induced abortions in pregnancies of up to 12 weeks without medical supervision.
Ms. Gonzalez says in the lawsuit that the hospital employees reported her self-induced abortion to the district attorney’s office, in violation of federal privacy laws, though her lawsuit does not name them or the hospital as defendants.
The lawsuit says that neither the Starr County Sheriff’s Office nor the Rio Grande City Police Department performed an investigation with sufficient facts or circumstances surrounding the murder charge against her, and only relied on reports from the hospital. Ms. Gonzalez also accuses them of misleading the grand jury with false information to secure an indictment against her.
“The fallout from defendants’ illegal and unconstitutional actions has forever changed” Ms. Gonzalez’s life, the complaint says. She “was subjected to the humiliation of a highly publicized indictment and arrest, which has permanently affected her standing in the community.”
When the charge against Ms. Gonzalez was dropped, Mr. Ramirez said that it was “clear” that she “cannot and should not be prosecuted for the allegation against her,” and acknowledged that “the events leading up to this indictment have taken a toll” on Ms. Gonzalez and her family. At the time, the anti-abortion group Texas Right to Life supported Mr. Ramirez’s decision to drop the charges, saying Texas’ law “clearly prohibit criminal charges for pregnant women.”
Ms. Gonzalez’s indictment occurred several months before the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and before Texas’ near-total ban on abortions went into effect. Even with the stricter ban, those who get an abortion cannot be criminally prosecuted.
Melissa Murray, a law professor at New York University, said Ms. Gonzalez’s lawsuit could serve to raise consciousness in Texas and beyond, to “understand that we are moving very quickly into a kind of dystopian, post-Dobbs landscape.”
“I think she could be very successful here,” Ms. Murray said of Ms. Gonzalez. “And if she isn’t, even if it doesn’t make it to trial, she could make him pay to settle this,” referring to Mr. Ramirez.
The lawsuit could act as a deterrent to other officials around the state, Ms. Murray said. But it could also “have the effect of spurring the anti-abortion movement to lobby the Legislature to actually make pregnant people subject to criminal or civil liability.”
Roni Caryn Rabin, Giulia Heyward and Sophie Kasakove contributed reporting.

I know that many ancaps/libertarians are pro population growth and pro development, I however think that the global population and megacities are a government abomination. I keep thinking that places like the UK/Beltway/LA of USA are so fucked up because they don't have any real wilderness left. it's just a cultivated grid of human housing, industry, agriculture, the largest undomesticated creature being a racoon or fox or something pathetically small and unthreatening. Even the meme "birds aren't real" I think is a riff on this; you live in a 100% man-made environment, even the birds might as well be government spy robots.
When you fundamentally have to interact with an artificial rules based world all the time you have a tendency to systematize everything, and believe the lie that imaginary things like laws and governments are real physical things, and not just the whims of the police officer on the corner. Somewhat like abuse victims internalize the rules of their abuser to avoid punishment and cope. The urban landscape is the breeding ground of the cancerous and parasitic human survival strategy we identify as socialism/collectivism/progressivism.
The only real laws are those of nature, physics, chemistry, biology, evolution. Humans are an animal and we adapt to our environment, which is a mouse utopia. The modern world is so sick and against nature because our power to wall it out of our lives has created a hubris to rebel against these things. Progressivism in a sense, is rejection of natural order, a rejection of subjection to nature or nature's God. This is how you get to where we are today. I don't need to list the examples, but the unreality of thinking we can abolish scarcity, inequality, sex, the family, etc...
I don't want civilization and cities and humans not to exist. I just want radical concentrations of those things. We had 2.5% the global population in antiquity and still got innovative and talented thinkers that we still discuss today, artists, engineers, etc. These people had ample access to an untamed world, one that was unpredictable, and challenged them.
The urban human is a domesticated one. They have no real self-determination. Without a world unmade by humans, they have no reference for something beyond the imagination of another human, no blank canvas to make their own. Like the shadows of Plato's cave I'd wager it's like a person forced to look into a mirror their entire life. They would have no ability to identify themselves in the mirror as they have no reference that the mirror isn't just the entire world.
Climbing mountains, navigating rapids, scaling rock walls, skiing couloirs... the physical conquest of nature yields a surprise that cannot be claimed from an artificial challenge.
Think of the sweating, yelling, heaving mass of Cairo,
Tumblr media
Bangladesh
Tumblr media
Lagos
Tumblr media
Mexico city
Tumblr media
You might just assume they make great films, music, art, thinkers, engineers, and we just don't hear about them because they don't get distributed here or something. No it's just a mass of human flesh consuming the natural world, no ability to reflect and create, just consume.
Almost all of these places import food from the temperate climates of developed nations. A two year breakdown of global supply chains would result in them starving in the millions.
Even here in western civilization we yield the prime 'high-density walkable" real-estate to degenerates via council and section 8 housing.
Government programs of fiat currency, the welfare-warfare state, followed by deindustrialization has resulted in a massive mismatch in human population and economic/environmental capacity. Sure, here's where someone could politely chime in that "humans have infinite creative capacity, we just need to unlock their potential and your Malthusian doomsday is no more" and I grant that to a degree.
But massive declines in human population, the standard of living, and technology are regular historical occurrences. Western science has had an absolute "ick" towards actually understanding and implementing Darwinism towards human populations. Country-wide datasets of IQ probably remain stable due to the continuing rise/Flynn effect of the middle/upper class offsetting the sliding downward of the welfare class. There's no evolutionary biologist who wouldn't recognize that the market economy selects for intelligence and the welfare state was our feeble altruistic effort to carry the "but I did have breakfast" population along with us.
We've had nearly a century and, in some cases of repeated teen pregnancies, 6 or 7 generations who were never asked to provide for themselves meaningfully. They live in an ever more confusing world of late payments, cash advances, welfare office applications, prison stints, evictions, and unplanned pregnancies. Each generation more befuddled than the last. Recent studies show that there have been population bottlenecks through human evolution. In the bronze age as few as 1 in 17 men reproduced at all.
Tumblr media
Biological imperatives of reproduction rule over all other sentiments and altruistic masochism. For the silent generation and the boomers, the welfare state was a token price they agreed to pay to keep the peace and they could afford it as they got race-rioted out of their downtown homes into the suburbs. Now the jig is up and millennials en-masse are finding that they can't afford to have kids *intentionally*. They look at their pay stub getting taxed at 40% so that, over at the section 8 housing, "baby mamas" collect government checks for the consequence of a hookup with serial felons, who are also housed and fed with working people's taxes. The boomers made a devil's bargain, they cucked their children!
Tumblr media
Now we enter the final death spiral of empires and welfare states: below replacement fertility rates and above GDP national debt!
Tumblr media
The group most prepared for the coming calamity, the group who predicted it, and who will emerge as victors are those who are internally pro-growth/pro population but maintain in-group preferences. The stats bear out:
Tumblr media
Now this shift isn't just conservatives but libertarians also. In a couple generations we have gone from 1% in the 70's to 10% in the 2010s and now easily 25% in the 2020's (many libertarians simply don't vote or vote republican). We will replace left-wingers, who only reproduce vampirically via public education, in the next generation. There is hope at the end of this journey but it will be difficult in the mean time. Prepare yourself accordingly.

Fellas, is it an act of war against a Western European country to hold their citizens prisoner in the open air prison they're carpet bombing?
Tumblr media
Lebanon's Hezbollah and Yemen's Houthis have been launching attacks on US military bases in Syria and Iraq and firing missiles at Israel in tandem with Hamas's attacks. All three are funded by Iran.
(I am HEAVING with laughter at Vox and every single one of these propagandist chucklefucks calling them "militias" and "terrorist organisations" and trying to frame this as justification for continuing to fund Israel like. MOTHERFUCKER WHOSE REGION ARE YOU IN EXACTLY?? WHO IS GENOCIDING PEOPLE ON THEIR OWN SOIL??)
"But they're fundie theocratic military states!!!"
*looks at Israel*
*looks at you*
*looks at current state of US*
Oh, ARE they?
US officials have met with the Lebanese caretaker government in an effort to try and prevent the conflict from spreading into Lebanon.
Um. Was this before or after Israel poured white phosphorus on Lebanon? Do y'all even have any control over your dog?
(Btw if you MCU brainrotted Western leftists don't stop trying to pick a Good Guy out of this mess instead of understanding basic geo-politics and the horrific ground realities of the countries the US and its allies have left in tatters, you're frankly just as much of an enemy to the people in those countries as your leaders are. Every one of these people are fascist cunts.)
For those of you who have been BLEATING about Ukraine non-stop, like it's NOT an expendable non-NATO country they're only interested in defending in case Putin gets any bright ideas about Poland, here's an opinion that makes sense to me:
Tumblr media
Tell me it wouldn't be perfectly on brand if the US government announced, "Our great democracy bows to the will of the people. We hear you, we see you. We will divest...from Ukraine."
The West has never given one singular shit about protecting ANYONE from genocide. Vulnerability is liability. The only difference between them and Putin is that Putin is greedy megalomaniacal fascist surrounded by self-interested yes-men and the US is run by a committee of greedy egomaniacal fascists surrounded by self-interested yes-men whose end goal is keeping the death machine spinning money rather than even "winning" territories. All they have to do to turn this around is divest from Israel and focus on Ukraine. And no, Israel can't throw in with Putin because it'll be too busy trying to fight off three countries at once without the sugar from its Daddy.
Putin will not stop at Ukraine, for the same reason the US didn't stop at Afghanistan. Empires are built on their military power and militaries need to be fed and kept active and kept active to be fed. The minute you stop, it tries to eat itself. If Putin makes a move on Poland, NATO has to respond, and if the West is also embroiled in an all-out war with the Middle East, well. It looks kinda like a global conflict.
Oh and btw, if this does escalate into another regional war in the Middle East, we're going to be plunged into an oil crisis. Which might actually be the last straw for the UK economy, but it very DEFINITELY will be for the rest of the Global South.
(Also Biden's already auctioned off the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska for oil companies for such an intensive scale of fracking that it's projected to tip the world over the edge of climate collapse. In the event of a war in the ME, the US is going to need that oil soooooo. Good luck stopping it.)

Subject: Re:ANSWERS
THIS INFORMATION COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE AND FREEDOM THE COMING "OFFICIAL" ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE ALIEN PRESENCE ON EARTH
WHY "STAR WARS", THE HUBBEL SPACE TELESCOPE, THE SUDDEN FALL OF COMMUNISM ?
WHAT IS GOING ON? Something very SINISTER is going on. Polls reveal that over 90% of the American people believe in UFO's and 95% of these people believe the government is keeping this knowledge from the public. But why? Are they afraid the people will panic if an "official" announcement were made? Hardly. Such an announcement would create interest and excitement and many questions, particularly by the churches, but not panic. Why then the continued cover-up?
There is overwhelming evidence in the past several years from "whistle-blowers"--retired military officers who have finally said, "Enough is enough! It's time the government told the people the truth!" these officers, such as Navy intelligence officer, William Cooper, Major John Lear (whose father founded the Learjet Corp.) and Air Force officer William English, to name but a few, have all discovered the truth, and at the risk of their very lives, are trying to alert YOU to the secrets behind the UFOs and the Alien Presence on this earth. These people worked on secret projects, had access to, 'classified' Top Secret documents, had seen with their own eyes 'captured' aliens, or extraterrestrial entities, UFOs and the incredible technology they brought with them.
Sightings of 'UFOs' (unidentified flying objects) have been reported throughout history, and biblical and historic references to "flaming chariots" huqe flying 'birds' and odd-looking beings predate our history by thousands of years. In the 1940s several alien spacecraft were recovered by the U.S. and other countries, along with a few dead aliens and one live one they named EBE (a name suggested by Dr. Vannever Bush and was short for Extraterrestrial Biological Entity).
1953 astronomers discovered large objects in space which were moving toward Earth. At first they believed these were asteroids, but later evidence proved the objects could only be spaceships. Project Sign and Project Plato intercepted alien radio communication and using the computer binary language, was able to arrange a landing that resulted in face-to-face contact with alien beings from another planet. Meanwhile, a race of human-looking aliens contacted the U.S. Government, warning us that the aliens orbiting the equator were hostile beings from Orion. These human-type aliens demanded we dismantle and destroy our nuclear weapons, that we were on a path of self destruction and we must stop killing each other, stop polluting the earth, stop raping the earth's natural resources and learn to live in harmony with one another. President Eisenhower rejected these demands.
Later in 1954 the race of aliens, known as Greys, from Zeta Reticuli area in space, who had been orbiting the equator, landed at Holloman Air Force Base. They stated their planet was dying and they needed quarters on earth to conduct genetic experiments that might allow their race to survive; this in exchange for certain technology. Pres. Eisenhower met with the aliens and a formal treaty was signed. The treaty stated the aliens would not interfere in our affairs and we would not interfere in theirs. We would keep their presence on earth secret; they would furnish us with advanced technology . They could abduct humans on a limited basis for the purpose of medical examination and monitoring, with the stipulation that the humans would not be harmed, would be returned to their point of abduction, that the human have no memory of the event. It was also agreed the alien bases; would be constructed underground, beneath Indian reservations in the 4 corners area of Utah, New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado. Another was to be constructed in Nevada in the area known as S4, about 7 miles south of Area 51, known as 'Dreamland.' A multi-billion dollar secret fund was organized and kept by the Military Office of the White House, supposedly to build secret underground sites for the President and staff in case of military attacks.
By secret Executive Memorandum, NSC 5410, Eisenhower re-established a permanent committee known as "Majority Twelve" (MJ-12) to oversee and conduct all covert activities with the aliens. This included FBI director J. Edgar Hoover and six leaders of the 'Council on Foreign Relations, known as the Wise Men' and later others from the Trilateral Commission. George Bush, Gordon Dean, and Brzezinski were among them.
A major finding of the commission was the aliens were using humans and animals for a source of glandular secretions, enzymes, hormonal secretions, blood and in horrible genetic experiments. The aliens explained these actions as necessary for their survival, that if their genetic structure were not improved, their race would cease to exist.
The ruling powers decided that one means of funding the alien project was to corner the illegal drug market. A young ambitious member of the Council on Foreign Relalions was approached. His name is George Bush who at the time was president and CEO of Zapata Oil Co. based in Texas. Zapata Oil was experimenting with offshore oil drilling and it was arranged that the drugs could be shipped from south America to the offshore platforms by fishing boats, then transferred to the U.S. shore by normal transportation, thus avoiding search by customs agents. The plan worked better than anyone expected, and today the CIA controls all the world's illegal drug markets. One should remember, it was George Bush who first started selling drugs to our children. The drug money was used to finance the deep underground alien bases.
Conclusions: the Bilderburgers, the Council on Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission are the SECRET GOVERNMENT and rule this nation through MJ-12 and the study group known as the Jason Society. Throughout history the aliens have manipulated and/or ruled the human race through various secret societies, religion and the occult. The CFR and the Trilateral Commisson are in complete control of the alien technology and the nation's economy. Eisenhower was the last president to know the entire overview of the alien problems. Succeeding presidents were told only what MJ-12 wanted them to know, and it was NOT the truth. MJ-12 presented each new president with a picture of a lost alien culture seeking to renew itself, build a home on this planet and shower us with gifts of technology. Each president has bought that story hook, line and sinker. Meanwhile, innocent people continue to suffer unspeakable horrors at the hands of alien and human scientists who are engaged in barbarous research that would make the Nazis pale in comparison. As if that is not enough, many people end up as food for the insatiable alien appetite for biological enzymes, hormonal secretions and blood. At least 1 in every 40 Americans have been implanted with alien devices that are used to control them if necessity calls.
By 1989 over 3 million 'Greys' are occupying these deep multi-level underground complexes. Level 7 at Dulce is called "Nightmare Hall" They have welched on their agreement on abducting humans; today over 25 million citizens have been abducted and implanted, a literal army awaiting orders to march! (Whitley Strieber has written best-selling books on his personal experience as have many others). For this reason other nations were informed. Within 5 months the communist monolith Russia was dismantled to unite with the U.S. and its technology to fight the invasion. The Hubbel Space Telescope was created to keep a watchful eye on the invasion fleet; Star Wars technology has been developed to hopefully stop them in outer space before they can get to the earth.
Today, the government is on the horns of a dilemma. Too many sources are releasing alien Information. The public could get angry at continued secrecy. So MJ-12 plans soon to make an "official" announcement, under controlled conditions, probably Area 51. Network TV will be called to meet the staged 'landing' of the aliens, these being the Grays.
They will come bearing gifts, technology that supposedly will heal cancer and AIDS, retard aging, etc. They will tell us they are the 'saviors of humanity' who have come to defend the earth against an invasion of human eating aliens called Reptoids. This story is a LIE, they already work for the Reptoids! Their plan is to unify the world into a One-World Government, a 'New World Order' with the argument that only this can defeat the invasion by Reptoids. This is a trap to enslave the world's population. Control will be accomplished through the money system, a universal currency controlled by certain international bankers, who for years have been lackeys of the aliens, who seized upon their greed and lust for wealth and power as a means to bring about their evil plan to control the earth. (This also being the scenario predicted in the Bible's 'Book of Revelation' wherein only those who accept the Mark of the Beast (the aliens being the Beast' and the 'Mark' being some sort of laser tattoo or Credit Card they will use, which will allow people to buy and sell goods). Those who do not accept this 'Mark' must live outside the money system and survive somehow on their own, through barter etc.
SO BE AWARE! ONLY YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THIS FAKE INVASION AND FAKE RAPTURE CAN PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING. DEMAND THE TRUTH FROM YOUR GOVERNMENT. TELL THEM YOU KNOW ABOUT THE ALIENS AND THAT THERE ARE GOOD ALIENS AND BAD ALIENS AND THAT MJ-12 IS PROMOTING THE BAD ALIENS AND THE ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT THEY HOPE TO CONTROL.
INSIST ON THE TRUE STORY OF THE ALIEN PRESENCE ! YOUR LIFE COULD DEPEND UPON IT, AS WELL AS YOUR FREEDOMS !

Encampments for Gaza: A Brief Analysis Through My Eyes
Starting as a small sit-in in Columbia University to protest the university's ties with Israel and other Zionist organizations, the student protest movement has spread across the United States and encampments have been established at numerous universities across the country, including MIT, NYU as well as the Universities of Michigan and New Mexico.
These student movements, reminiscent of protest movements against US intervention in Viet Nam in the 60s and 70s and more recently, the BLM protests in 2020, hold massive potential to not only cause divestment from Israel's genocide in Gaza, but can act as a much greater force in the disassembly of United States imperialism and capitalism.
These encampments are pivotal in highlighting disconent among the American youth as well as the brutality and inherently oppressive nature of the American system. If these students seek to bring about real, lasting change, they should embrace a higher degree of organization, participation in community organization, self-defense, and increasing militarization within their encampment movement.
If history has taught us anything, the boot of the US government will step down on these protesters if they are not ready. They need to be ready to fight for Gaza and the people of Palestine, they need to be ready to fight for themselves and their rights, and they need to be ready to fight for a future without imperialist and capitalist greed.

So...as a white American, obviously this is an outsider perspective, and there are way way more nuanced conversations about this happening within Latino communities. As someone who grew up in a very Latino community in Texas, it is a very interesting conversation to me though, and given that Hispanic Heritage Month is wrapping up, and Native American Heritage month is around the corner, I'd love to hear other people, especially Latino/Hispanic people's thoughts on it.
Why do we, overall, not think of Latino people as being *indigenous*?
Like, if I were to talk to someone here in the US who was Pueblo or Lipan Apache or Cheyenne, and I was told that they grew up speaking English- that doesn't make them not indigenous. If they told me that they feel their culture and way of life has been deeply influenced by colonialism, that doesn't make them not indigenous. If they told me they had a grandparent or great grand parent or great great great grand parent who was white- that wouldn't make them not indigenous. If they had a "white" sounding name- that wouldn't make them not indigenous. Right?
So. *gestures to Latin America*
Especially here in Texas, if you described a Tejano or Mexican-American person as "native American" or indigenous, most people would be...confused by that.
And I just wonder why that difference exists.
Is it a history of anti-indigenous racism/colorism/classism? Is it because it would fundamentally challenge the white supremacist myth that Native Americans have all but died out? Is it a way to frame the Mexican Revolution so it doesn't feel like a story of indigenous people successfully repelling a colonizing empire and successfully self governing?
Is it because it would too obviously challenge the white supremacist "pan-Indian" way of lumping indigenous American groups together? Is it, from a US standpoint, a way of mentally distancing Mexico and the rest of Latin America from being "American" in any way? Is it because, at least in the southern US, our perception of Latino people as "immigrants" outweighs their possible identity as indigenous? (Which, God, is already so laughable in Texas where for so many of these communities, they didn't cross the border- the border crossed them)
Is it a combination of all these things? Is it something else?
There are still communities within Latin America that speak traditional languages and have more traditional cultural practices, who are still very much identified as indigenous. But does their existence inherently negate the indigenous-status of other Latino people? (Obviously, that's not something I can decide or define, but a personal and community conversation for those people. )
As I said at the beginning, I've seen this discussion popping up more in Latino communities in recent years, and I just find the whole question, especially within Texas and Tejano culture, to raise some interesting thoughts and ideas.
Some of the very cool articles I've read that made me think these thoughts:
I'd honestly love to hear from any Latino/Hispanic followers I have about yalls thoughts on this. :)

Constructing Local Indigenous Power
The re-newed hostilities by the Mexican federal army during the first weeks of the year, the massacre by paramilitary death squads of 45 innocent Tzotziles from the community of Acteal on December 22, 1997, and the continuous lies on the part of the Mexican government as it fails to comply with the San Andres Accords all share one goal: to destroy at all costs the EZLN initiated autonomous municipalities which geographically re-configure over a third of the southeastern state’s territory and serve as a model of self-determination for Mexico’s 52 indigenous groups.
On December 19, 1995, the EZLN, in a political-military action, broke the Mexican army’s encirclement of the Lacandon jungle and took over towns far beyond the conflict zone. The show of force shattered the government’s assumption of the movement as an isolated struggle of only 4 regions. The rebel army demonstrated that it politically and militarily partially controls 38 municipalities and, as part of this presence, has redefined the territory in the form of rebel autonomous municipalities.
EZLN Comandante Samuel explained the reason’s for why the EZLN decided to create these liberated zones, “It was an idea that surfaced in 1994 as a way of not having to interact with government institutions. We said ‘Enough!’ to them controlling all aspects of our community for us. By creating autonomous municipalities we are defining our own spaces where we can carry out our social and political customs as we see fit, without a government that never takes us into account, interfering for its self- benefit.”
Rebel municipalities no longer recognize government imposed authorities. Instead the villages democratically install new community and municipal representatives and present them with the “baston de mando,” the traditional wooden stick with which the communities grant chosen local leaders the right to represent them. The new spaces for constructing local power not only permit villages to create political and social structures firmly rooted in their Mayan past, but they also signal a new way in which indigenous communities relate to each other and to the Mexican nation.
A local authority in the recently inaugurated autonomous municipality “Ernesto Che Guevara”, located in the rebel territory “Tzotz Choj,” officially known as the municipality of Ocosingo explained, “We are and want to be part of Mexico and not a stranger to the lands that gave birth to us. We are and want to be part of the great Mayan nation that many suns and moons ago saw these valleys flower. We are and want to take part in the construction of the nation we desire, where democracy, liberty, and justice exist. We only want to be equal to others, not more nor less, and to be respected as indigenous people.”
Within the newly created municipal structures, the communities name their authorities, community teachers, local health promoters, indigenous parliaments, and elaborate their own laws based on social, economic, political and gender equality among the inhabitants of diverse ethnic communities.
In the autonomous municipality 17 de Noviembre, located in the region of Altamirano, educational promoters from the region’s 75 communities meet regularly through workshops and meetings in order to create the municipality’s new educational system. Those responsible for carrying out this monumental task, firmly rooted in Tzeltal history, attempt to write the municipality’s own educational materials, create a bilingual teaching system, train local teachers, and eventually provide non-governmental schools for the region’s 20,000 inhabitants. The educational promoters are accountable to the rebel municipality’s Education Commission, a body of community representatives democratically chosen to carry out the tasks related to education, and must periodically inform the autonomous parliament of the work’s progress.
The fact that the rebel municipalities define their own educational system, along with all other social, political, and economic aspects of the indigenous autonomous regions, does not remove the state from its responsibilities. If and when the Mexican government complies with the peace accords, it would still be required to channel funds, as it is obligated to do so under the constitution. However, the communities forming the municipalities would have the right to choose how these funds would be administered.
The EZLN speaks of autonomy, not as a separatist movement, but rather one that is inclusionary, that creates, as they describe in a popular slogan, “ a world in which all worlds can fit”. The construction of these autonomous municipalities signal the beginning of an alternative that allows local people to control a territory and create a new relationship to the state. It permits popular power to be created from below, reinforcing the EZLN ideal that “power is not taken, it is constructed.” Most importantly, building grassroots force presents people the opportunity to define and build the future according to their own vision and with their own hands.
Javier Ruiz, ex- member of the autonomous concession for the rebel municipality of San Pedro Emiliano Zapata, officially known as the municipality of Chenalho, explained the process of community empowerment: “Before we would ask the government to give us everything, and they would only give us handouts- some housing material, a little bit of money, a few sacks of corn. But now we realize that we can solve our necessities ourselves. That is why we decided to resist, to give birth to our own ideas. The communities created the autonomous municipalities so we could be free to create what our thoughts tell us, to create what we want according our needs and our history. We are not asking the government to hand us clothes, but rather the right to the word dignity.”

its gotten to a point where its ridiculous how usamericans and europeans grabbed a random fact from the 19th century and ran with it to build another prejudiced vision about south american countries. In short, no its absolutely not true that "there are no black/indigenous people" in countries such as Argentina or Uruguay, studies deminstarte it and anyone who lives inside these countries and isnt actively racist can see it.
Its true that during colonial times and afterwards there was a whitening process, you see while USA had segregation in latin america mixed marriages were encouraged as the norm bc it was thought children would be born paler and catholic, this resulted in most of latin american people being mixed genetically (except the more powerful classes who of course still marry between themselves and tend to be of european descent only). Also, lot of the times, black male slaves were thrown as soldiers in the independance wars and other fights, this is something that happened all over the americas, including the US.
But since race is a social construct that varies from time to time and from country to country, its not seen the same in latin america than in the US. Here nobody cares about blood quantum like they still seem to do in the US, a lot of ppl who identify as black there would never say they are black here, and you would probably never call "white" most people who self identify as white from uruguay or argentina if you ever saw them irl. Here racial identitity is more focused on phenotype (facial features) and self-identification, which makes it so that if you can "pass as white" youre most likely going to be identifying as such because the concept of "being white" is incredibly wide. Also because european immigration to south america came mostly from spaniards and italians unlike what happened in the US.
There is of course internalized racism that answers to all of this, and state government racism just like it happens in the US there is a reason why most POC in latin america make up the poorest classes, and have the least opportunities to rise from them. Calling all argentinean and uruguayan people blue eyed blonde nazis is a disservice to all of us, but most of all to POC who identify with pride with their roots, it shows youre not interested in them you just want a viral tweet/tiktok to diss on countries who are still victim to YOUR country's imperialism. It sounds as if you only found out two days ago about other latine countries that are not mexico, it sounds as if you dont understand context and that you cant apply an usamerican pov to other countries narratives.
Lastly, since yankis get horny with graphs and percentages, heres some numbers: Uruguay has about 4.5% self identified black people (although genetic studies claim it could be higher up to 7%) meanwhile argentina has about 150k people self identifying as such, but afroargentinean organizations claim the numbers can be up to 2 million people, which would also be a 4.5% of the population, its a trend that seems to be repeated in a lot of american countries.

Thank you for your deconstruction of that post about Jewish ethnicity and your detailed explanation of why it was a terrible take! I saw that post earlier and it got my hackles up but I didn't even know where to start when they're starting from such a flawed understanding of Jewish identity and ethnicity in general.
Yeah idk the most generous conclusions I have were those last two points — the argument either starts from assuming ethnonationalists have always been the ones defining ethnicity/they are the main arbiters of defining it (which I just reject categorically), or they have misunderstood or don't actually know what ethnicity means (outside of understanding ethnonationalism is bad).
And I never want to come out the gate with like "I think you just don't know what that word means," because that feels extremely condescending and combative. At the same time we're clearly facing some kind of vast language gap if the concept of "Jews are an ethnic group" is considered absurd or laughable. So working backwards those are my guesses for how someone got themselves to that conclusion which bizarrely had a lot of reblogs and i didn't look at the notes but like.
Please tell me I wasn't the only one baffled by this?? Anti-/non-zionist Jewish movements have typically still explicitly emphasized ethnicity, like...sometimes even moreso because "shared cultural identity here-ness" HAS to care more about group belonging in culture rather than in place or nation.
Either way: We can just reject ethnonationalism without erasing the concept of people having ethnicities! That's totally an option. Israel and Palestine both have histories of nationalist movements AND both can and should reject ethnonationalism because the levant itself is a place full of a variety of ethnicities. No matter what the future of the levant and any states within it look, ethnonationalism should be rejected.
Like yeah I can fully climb on board the whole "the modern nation state itself is bad, borders are violence enacted upon people, nation-states foment nationalism, colonialism, and so on, let's move forwards towards stateless society." Ethnonationalism is bad.
But simultaneously I live in like...a reality where something has to float us all until we can get there and I don't believe in a leftist rapture of "bloody revolution will overthrow all of current society."
spoilers: ethnic self-determination and governance doesn't mean you can avoid ethnonationalism strains cropping up!
Also just because this has been getting to me recently, here's a big tangent not part of the OP but something else I've been seeing: Indigeneity to a place doesn't actually elevate you to this morally pure and uncorrupt self, and it doesn't mean you're going to be a better society than anyone else trying to govern there or avoid ethnonationalism or nationalism.
That's...I mean that's not how it fucking works. I keep seeing like "these Israelis are destroying olive trees, an indigenous people wouldn't do that!" And it's like...such a kindergarten way of treating the status of being "native" as morally and ethically untainted by bad ideologies. To me it absolutely reeks of "noble savage" fantasies wherein like: nobleness of character, innocent benevolence to foreigners, and perfect stewardship of land is somehow the hallmarks of "true" Indigeneity.
I regret to inform everyone but if you only ever get the highlights reel history of Spanish colonialism in Mexico: the Spaniards were able to conquer Mexico the way they did for a variety of reasons (smallpox devastating the native populace is one of them), but one of those big key ways is the fact that various native groups hated the aztec triumvirate (the Mexica) so much that they actively helped the Spanish overthrow them.
The Spanish didn't conquer the Aztecs by themselves. The Spanish had maybe an army of 3,100 or so. The Aztecs had a fighting force of 200,000+, not including other allied forces. The spanish were able to conquer the Aztec empire because a whole lot of other indigenous forces were assisting them.
Being indigenous to somewhere absolutely doesn't mean you won't burn or destroy farms, or murder your also indigenous neighbors, or commit terrible atrocities, or even become an imperial force who enslaves people or enforces a caste system or anything else. It's not a guarantee that your society won't be shitty somehow. The Aztecs were comprised of native people, and they still cracked open rib cages of other human beings to extract their hearts in ritual sacrifice so like. It's not a strong argument to say "they definitely aren't from here because they destroy tree groves or murder Innocents."
If you wanna talk about settlers being settlers there's other ways to do it.

youre so right about heavy and demo i didnt even think about hypothetical demo siblings hsfudbkhbcduabfyaf
i think about heavy lore once every few days and GAH ITS REALLY SAD AND NOBODY CARES it gets even sadder if you consider poker night to be canon, bc it implies he was basically conditioned into violence from a young age and FUCK.
Alas, hes old and not a twink so fhsdbhbdszbf. And same for Demo.
UGHHHH YOU GET ME and apologies for the like twenty tags on your post lmao
heavy is the kind of character that only really gets attention in the context of medic (which i'm not gonna complain too hard about; who isn't a sucker for heavymedic?) so often his backstory is in the background or just used as a means to justify how protective he is. i really really wish more people would play into solo heavy angst, because scout angst people? if they directed that attention towards heavy, it would be OVER for a lot of people. it could topple governments. destroy continents. conquer galaxies.
and don't even get me STARTED on mr. degroot over here. he could have so much family no one even acknowledges. he is only allowed to be a degroot because he was good enough to be considered one. and while ms. degroot doesn't seem like a bad person, she seems very strict and controlling, prioritizing family image. she's definitely an interesting character to play into in terms of demo's backstory, because he mostly seems very accepting and loving towards her and literally bought her a goddamn mansion in the middle of new mexico. so he loves people who have possibly hurt him and that means it would be so easy for him to get trapped in a cycle of "they're being too nice, there has to be some kind of strings attached, there's no pain, there's no forced forgiveness" and probably be one to self-sabotage a LOT. and the alcoholism of course. he's just such a deep and complex character if you factor in his trauma and it seems like no one acknowledges it in the face of characters like scout or medic.
i would do anything for a crumb of angst for these two
